A/N: Happy Birthday Commander (big tits) Erwin Smith!!!!! I wrote him a smutty fic for his birthday last year, so I shall give him something more family-friendly and relatable xD

A: Attention

Erwin is really attentive and pays a lot of attention to small details. He's the kind of person who remembers a lot of small details, and will hardly forget his schedules and plans.

However, due to his attention to detail, some people might find that Erwin is nitpicking too much. People might also think that Erwin is micromanaging too much as he wants everything to be perfect and in order.

B: Behaviour

Erwin is always calm and collected no matter the situation. He is always polite to people younger than him and respectful to those older than him as well.

Erwin is always the most grounded in his circle of friends, and people tend to depend on him due to how knowledgeable he is too. Erwin is very sensible and intelligent, and hardly does anything that would harm his image.

C: Career

With Erwin'a charisma and great leadership, he would do well in organisations that requires discipline and order, such as the military, the police, or the navy. He would be a very persuasive and charismatic leader who leads with knowledge and compassion.

I can also foresee Erwin doing really well in a political career. He is extremely persuasive and charming, and he can easily garner support from the general public and citizens as well. Likewise, he would also stand firm in his beliefs and work for the rights of the people.

Erwin would also do well in the corporate world, such as opening up his own business, working as a financial advisor, or a fund manager. He makes daring moves and investments, and even though they might be risky, Erwin's wit always bring the organisation he is working for to new heights.

D: Dating

I think Erwin would be someone who enjoys going on classic dates like in the good olden days; a dinner and dance, a late night movie at the outdoor cinema, a walk in the park. He loves spending quality and undisturbed time with his lover, and he loves diverting all his attention to them.

However! Erwin finds thrill and excitement in other kinds of dates too; arcade dates, shopping dates, beach dates, hiking dates just to name a few. As long as he's with his lover, anywhere would always be the perfect date.

E: Energy level

Erwin's mood is always calm and relaxed, so he doesn't have random bursts of energy. He's always on-the-go, and he is always doing something.

Erwin hardly has mood swings as well, unless he is too stressed up at work. Erwin does not really like surprises and impromptu occasions, and he prefers having a plan than to work on spontaneous bursts of energy. Therefore, Erwin would also behave as such, and he is always predictable and easy to go along with.

F: Fashion

I feel that Erwin would have a preference for long sleeve shirts, knitwear, and sweaters. He would like to wear light coloured clothing too. Colours like khaki, beige, ivory, and mother-of-pearl would look very nice on him. Baby blue and sky blue would complement his eyes too.

His wardrobe has a large variety of business suits, formal wear, and also more casual button-ups and tailored trousers. Erwin's wardrobe is more colourful during the spring and summer.

I also feel that Erwin is the kind of person who collects watches, and he has many watches for different suits and occasions.

G: Games

I don't think Erwin plays a lot of games, and he isn't interested in them as well. However, he might just give in to peer pressure and join Levi and Mike on games like Counter Strike and Call of Duty.

Erwin would probably enjoy playing card games like Blackjack and Poker, and somehow he manages to bluff really well. He would also enjoy strategy games like chess, shogi, go (wei qi), and reversi.

H: Hobbies

Other than reading and chess, I think Erwin would enjoy exercising a lot. He does a mix of aerobic and anaerobic activities, and running is his favourite. He usually goes to the gym with Mike and Levi where they would help to spot one another while at the weight machines.

I think Erwin would secretly enjoy crocheting too. It's hard to see Erwin sitting down for hours crocheting something, but Erwin is really good with his hands. He sometimes crochets gifts for his lover too.

I: Interior

I can foresee Erwin's house to be really wide and spacious, with not too many decorative items and furniture. Erwin would have paintings hung on the wall, and there would be bookshelves around the house too.

Erwin's bedroom is really simple, with a single bed, a small armchair by the window accompanied by a floor lamp. Erwin spends most of his time in his study/home office, where he would spend the most effort to maintain as well.

His home office would be bright and well-lit, with bookshelves by the wall too. Erwin has a preference for white lights and he loves opening his window during the day too.

J: Jealousy

Erwin would definitely not be a jealous lover, for he trusts his partner wholeheartedly. He doesn't worry if his partner is going out with friends of the opposite sex, as long as he knows where they're going.

However, Erwin can be a little possessive, especially if he sees someone hitting on his partner. He would switch from a calm demeanour and become a little stern, exerting dominance over the other party so that they know his partner's taken.

K: Kinks

You can't deny this, but Erwin definitely has a size kink. He finds his smaller-sized partner really desirable, and he loves how protective he can get over his partner.

Also, Erwin really loves holding his partner by their waist. The subtle act of putting his hand around their waist, or on the small of their back while walking makes him feel really 'manly', and he can be protective of his lover too.

During sex, Erwin would be a really gentle and sweet lover, always making sure his partner is feeling good. However, he definitely has his rougher moments too. Erwin would enjoy taking his partner from the rear, and he would get so turned on whenever he pulls his partner up by the hair or limbs so that he can take a good look at their blissful face.

L: Love language

Erwin is someone who wouldn't hesitate to spend his money on his lover. No, he doesn't necessarily splurge, but he loves pampering his lover with purchases. If his partner sees something they really like, Erwin would buy it. Erwin would also pay for meals and desserts, for the groceries, for dates, and anything that involves finances. Erwin wouldn't let his lover spend a single cent.

Erwin would also enjoy spending undisturbed time with his lover too. I feel that Erwin would sometimes be too engrossed in work that he forgets to separate work and personal time, so he would really appreciate spending quality time with his beloved. Even though it's activities like watching tv, cooking, or even doing chores, he appreciates all the little moments spent together with his lover.

Erwin would be so good at giving his lover words of affirmation! He loves singing praises of his lover, and he loves encouraging his lover with his words too.

M: Marriage

Erwin would look forward to married life so much. To him, it's more than being lawfully wedded under the law. Getting married means a commitment to spend their lives together, and a decision to be devoted to his lover for the rest of his life. It is also a promise to be by each other's side, supporting each other in everything in life.

Erwin would have an elaborate wedding proposal; he would enlist the help of his friends to make the occasion perfect. He would probably bring his lover to a place with sentimental value; like the place the went on their very first date.

N: Nicknames

Erwin would love nicknames such as 'sweetheart', 'dear', 'darling', and 'love'. They're simple, heartfelt, and not too cheesy as well.

Erwin would probably be embarrassed if you call him names with a slight tease, like 'babe', 'handsome', or 'hot stuff'.

Erwin probably got nasty nicknames in school because of his thick prominent eyebrows, but he definitely doesn't mind them. He even thinks they're funny (Mike called him Eyebrows, Levi called him Shitty Brows).

O: Outbursts

Erwin would be pretty well-natured and doesn't have much of a bad temper, but do not make him angry! He would flare up and shout at the top of his voice when he's angry, and his anger would last a long time as well.

Erwin also does not like to be challenged, therefore he does not appreciate being questioned about his choices and actions. He would be irritated if someone showed him any doubt towards his decisions and abilities.

P: Parenting style

Erwin would be the father who always tries to educate and be there for his children, just like how his father had been there for him when he was younger. Erwin would be the role model in his children's lives, showing them all the right examples and teaching them the right values and morals.

Erwin would also have his fair share of being a fun parent without forgetting about education. He loves bringing his children to the museum, science centre, planetarium etc for them to learn and expand their knowledge while also having fun.

Erwin wouldn't have preferences for a daughter or son as well, but I feel that he might be sliiiiiiightly biased to having an elder son and a younger daughter.

Q: Quirks

Erwin would unfortunately be a snorer, a very loud one too. He's constantly working and always busy, and he snores really loudly. Sometimes he even scares himself with how loud he sounds too.

I feel that Erwin would also tend to rub his eyes a lot too, because of how dry they always are. He knows it's a bad habit, but he can't help it. He carries eye drops around with him all the time.

For some reason I feel that Erwin prefers eating white meat opposed to red meat, so you'll see him enjoying chicken and fish more than others. However, he definitely wouldn't say no to a nice steak! Erwin's favourite fish is codfish, and he likes eating seafood like shrimps too.

R: Romance

Erwin is 10/10 a very romantic lover! He would remember the dates of anniversaries and birthdays at the tip of his finger, and he would plan for these celebrations way ahead too.

Erwin would pamper his lover just the way they love and want without asking for anything in return. He would be a very devoted and loving partner as well.

During sex, I feel that Erwin would pay a lot more attention on the foreplay and build up than the actual sex. He loves to pleasure and slowly prepare his partner, and he loves making his lover feel good as well. Erwin would prefer to be the dominant one in bed, but he wouldn't oppose to switching things up once in a while too.

S: Sweets

Erwin wouldn't enjoy sweet stuff too much, but he definitely enjoys eating baked goods like cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cakes, and doughnuts. Erwin loves taking his coffee black, and it goes well when he's eating a sweet treat as well.

He would probably avoid treats like caramel popcorn, candy floss, lollipops, hard candy, or anything that has too much sugar. Erwin would also dislike anything with whipped cream as well.

T: Television

Erwin probably doesn't watch much tv, but he enjoys watching shows like Breaking Bad, Prison Break, Sherlock, and The Crown. He would also enjoy shows that are educational, like the history channels and BBC.

Erwin would prefer DC to Marvel, and he probably has a secret collection of DVDs of DC movies that no one knows about.

U: Unwind

Erwin loves to read as a form of unwinding. Magazines, bibliographies, self-help books, fiction anything! Erwin also enjoys reading the newspaper, and prefers hard copies of them than digital copies.

He also likes exercising and sweating it out. Erwin prefers aerobic activities that gets his heart pumping, like running, swimming, and cycling. Erwin usually runs about 5km to 8km each time he's out for a run.

V: Vacation

I feel that Erwin would enjoy visiting somewhere warm and sunny even though he doesn't really like the heat. Erwin loves listening to the waves, and loves being near the sea too. He would enjoy visiting countries in South East Asia, such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore.

Erwin probably grew up in the city, therefore he would love visiting countries that have a slower-paced of living as well. He would enjoy strolling around the city, visiting historical sites and learning about the country's history, study their architecture, and learn about the cultures of the people there.

W: Weather

Erwin loves the summer! He would enjoy getting a little tan, and he loves wearing thinner shirts during the hotter days as well. He does complain about the heat occasionally, but he loves the longer summer nights.

Erwin also likes it when its windy. He loves seeing the leaves sway with the breeze, and he loves the feeling of the wind through his hair as well.

X: XOXO

Kisses with Erwin are always deep and passionate. Erwin loves kissing his lover, and he always has to kiss his lover goodbye before leaving for work.

Erwin loves cupping his lover's cheeks with his hands while they kiss, and he definitely wouldn't object to a little more tongue too. However, he wouldn't be that affectionate in public!

Erwin's hugs are really warm and comforting given how big his build is. Erwin also loves enveloping his lover in a tight hug. Whenever his lover is in a bad mood, Erwin's hugs would definitely make everything better.

Y: Yearning

Erwin wouldn't be too affected if his lover had to leave him for a while, be it an overseas work trip, or a short getaway. Erwin would constantly be in contact with his lover, making sure they're having their meals and getting enough sleep. He would constantly send them messages, and video call each other every night too.

Erwin keeps the house neat and tidy during his lover's absence, and he would want them to returning to a clean and tidy home. Erwin would reach the airport early to wait for their return, and welcome them with a big hug.

Z: Zodiac

Erwin is born on 14 October, making him a Libra. Libras are known to be very charismatic individuals, and are always the spotlight in any occasion. Libra men are also extremely charming, and you would definitely find yourself become attracted to Erwin the first time you see him.

Libras, however, are rather vain, and pay a lot of attention to their appearance. Libras might also find it hard to settle down in a relationship, as they prefer to socialise and widen their circle.

Hurts like hell

Nov(emeto)ber 2022, Day 25: You’ve been warned (by your body)

Characters: Zena, Ezra, Cassandra, Calvin

This month of sick taught me that in stressful times, I miss out on too many amazing prompts and write stuff that’s way too relatable for me. The story would have also fit the “sick in more ways than one” prompt. Pain and nausea really are a match made in hell, they’re great at fueling and intensifying each other.

The scorching heat had come to an abrupt and rather unpleasant end. While the parched earth was rejoicing in the countless buckets of ice water showering from the sky, the people affected by the temperature drop quickly jumped from one reason to complain to the next. Too hot was replaced by too cold, clothes were now drenched with rain instead of sweat. Outdoor activities had become even less tempting.

Things weren’t looking much brighter between the friends. Natalia and Cassandra hadn’t talked things out yet and Ketan had come down with a nasty cold. Zena, Ezra, Calvin and Cassandra had decided to go to the cinema to lighten their mood. Since fall had arrived with full force, it was the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a creepy gorefest. The latest installment of the Blood Mirror franchise seemed just right for foggy nights and chilling temperatures.

Weird enough, Zena hadn’t sounded too excited about the plan. She was usually open for most activities as long as they included hanging out with her friends. A ridiculous, over-the-top horror movie was right up her alley, so Ezra was surprised and slightly worried when her positive response seemed quite forced. Zena had assured him that she was just a bit sleepy, but Ezra knew her well enough to know something was wrong.

Anyone who met Zena probably perceived her as a thoroughly relaxed and positive person, which had a lot of truth to it. A big reason was that Zena had worked hard to reach a place in life where she felt thoroughly comfortable. Her job as an influencer granted her both freedom to perform at her own schedule and the daily opportunity to explore and be creative. When money was tight, she made some extra cash as an event photographer, which played into her passion for capturing moments with the camera and take the images to another level with a dash of editing.

None of their friends knew that times had been quite different before. To say that both Zena and Ezra had been a mess during high school would have been an understatement, especially during their senior year. Ezra had moved out at 16. His parents, probably just as tired of the constant arguments as he was, only agreed under the condition that his grades wouldn’t suffer. Of course, Ezra was independent, responsible and determined enough to juggle his classes, studying, extracurricular activities and a part-time job to stay afloat – at least that was the facade he desperately tried to keep up. Zena was the only one who knew that he was barely sleeping through the night and threw up every morning before school.

It wasn’t long before Zena spent more time at Ezra’s tiny appartment than at home. Her grades had always been outstanding and her parents saw her as the golden child of the family. Needless to say, they had already planned out an academic career for her. What they refused to notice was how Zena crumbled under the rigid timetables, the strict social norms and student hierarchies, the long hours of only sitting and writing and forcing information into her brain. She was good at it, but it burned her out. The approaching graduation didn’t offer any solace when it only lead to the exact same routine in college.

Zena kept on going through the motions, but her eyes were blank. First, there had been times when she broke down in tears once she reached the safety of their shabby little sanctuary, but even that stopped after a while. It was terrifying. In the end, it was probably their mutual concern to keep the other one from falling apart entirely that somehow got them through this nightmarish period. Both knew they would rather work crappy jobs for the rest of their lives than go to college, even if it ment shattering their parents’ dreams. Eventually, their channels took off, and that was when they met the rest of their friends.

Things were looking good for them right now and Zena had never slipped away into that dark place since then, but the worry remained in the back of Ezra’s mind.

He was nervous when he rushed out of his car and through the cold rainstorm that would definitely ruin his hair. In the dry shelter of the cinema, Cassandra and Calvin were already waiting for him at the counter. They had probably arrived together and had already bought their tickets and two large tubs of popcorn. Ezra cast a glance at his watch. It was still fifteen minutes until the screening. His tension rose with every motion of the clock hands. Just when he was about to get out his phone and call, Zena rushed in. She was out of breath, but had a big smile on her face.

“Sorry, hope I’m not late.”

“Almost, but not quite.” Cassandra grabbed a popcorn bucket with each arm.

“We’re just missing out on five hundred commercials anyways”, Calvin grinned. “And it’s not like the cinema is overrun by people.”

“Pretty sure we’ll still find good seats”, Ezra nodded, then noticed that Zena had wrapped her arms around her middle and was curled up in her big silver coat. “Let’s go, you look like you’re freezing.”

“Nah, I’m fine.” Zena shook her head, but quickly followed her friends past the ticket taker into the comfortably heated auditorium. There actually weren’t many visitors, so they had no issues finding four seats with a perfect view. After they had hung their damp coats over the adjacent seats to let them dry, they made themselves comfortable.

“If they don’t kill of Preston, I swear I’m gonna crawl into the screen reverse-Ringu style and do it myself”, Cassandra declared while aggressively chewing on popcorn.

“Preston is the grandmaster of dumb luck.” Calvin leaned back. He placed his arm on the headrest of Cassandra’s seat, so it was technically put around her shoulders, but not quite. “The asshole will survive another round, mark my words.”

“Are you guys kidding me?” Ezra interrupted his buttery dinner for a second. „If someone has to croak, it’s Blaine. He’s the one who screwed up last movie’s ritual, and it was literally the easiest ritual known to mankind.“

“You can’t blame him, the guy has two braincells.” A distressed expression crossed Zena’s face. “You know what really sucks? I’m 99 % sure Maddy’s not actually dead, more like a stuck in limbo type of situation.”

“Main character syndrome much?” Cassandra rolled her eyes. “I hope they won’t spend the whole movie trying to bring her back. She’s top tier Mary Sue material.”

Calvin opened his mouth to reply, but stopped himself as the screen greeted the visitors with two minutes of production logos.

“Enjoy the ride”, he whispered, then slid down just a little bit more on his seat. Ezra took the chance to snatch another handful of popcorn from the bucket before the actual movie began and making noises would become an inconvenience. Maybe the other visitors didn’t even care, but constant crunching and rustling and crackling and, worst of all, chewing was a huge pet peeve of his. Might have been the reason he hadn’t been to the cinema in forever.

It was still a great experience. There was something about the big screen and the darkness and even the narrow rows of seats that made it much more special than watching the exact same movie at home. Even though they didn’t share a single word and just stared straight ahead, it still felt like a common activity. After a last check if everyone seemed comfortable, Ezra leaned back and allowed himself to escape the real word for a little while.

About halfway into the movie – Blaine had just been impaled on a unicorn statue’s horn – Ezra heard a muffled groan right next to him. As he turned towards Zena, he saw that she was still hugging her belly and was slightly hunched over. She was notoriously sensitive to cold, but it seemed highly unlikely that anyone would freeze at the auditorium’s toasty temperature. On a second glance, Ezra noticed that her eyes were pressed shut.

“What’s wrong?”, he asked, leaning closer to her ear. Zena only shook her head. Her entire body was tense and while her lips were clenched, she was rapidly breathing through her nose. “Does your stomach hurt?”

Zena’s only reply was another moan. She arched her back even more and opened her mouth like she was letting out a silent scream. Ezra put his hand on her shoulder and felt her strained, shivering muscles. His concern skyrocketed in an instant. If he hadn’t known that Zena’s appendix had been removed over ten years ago, it would have been his main culprit.

“Is there anything I can do?” Ezra didn’t know if Zena was even capable of answering his question at the moment. Whatever she was going through, the pain was obviously intense. Zena looked at him, her face still contorted, lips trembling with every shallow breath. Then, all of sudden, she grabbed the tub from Ezra’s lap and buried her face in the large container. Her shoulders hitched with an agonized retch, followed by the soft patter of liquid hitting popcorn.

“Did she just puke into the popcorn bucket?” With his entire focus being on Zena, Ezra was startled when he heard Cassandra’s voice. She had probably been alerted by the unmistakeable noises as well. “What’s up with her?”

Ezra shrugged. He had no idea what was going on, maybe a nasty case of food poisoning? He carefully rubbed Zena’s back, not sure if it was comforting her or if even the slightest touch only added to the pain. Her body jerked again and a muffled splash gave away that another wave of vomit drowned their buttered snack.

“I’m so sorry.” Zena looked up, panting, and first wiped the tears from her eyes, then the sick from her lips. “I suppose you’re not gonna finish that?”

Ezra almost teared up himself out of sheer relief. Moments ago, he had been ready to call an ambulance. He had never witnessed Zena in so much pain before. She was still tense and curled up, but at least she spoke again and even had her spirit back.

“Do you feel better? Shall we go outside to catch some fresh air?”

“Honestly, I’d prefer a trip to the restroom.” Zena’s strained voice showed that whatever caused the ache had not stopped plaguing her. “It’s still pretty bad. I’m not sure if I’m done.”

“Restroom it is, then.” Ezra picked up the bucket, avoiding to take a closer look at the popcorn sloshing around in a brownish-yellow soup. It couldn’t hurt to have a container at hand in case of any accident on the way. He put his other arm around Zena’s waist to help her get up.

“You don’t have to come along. You’re gonna miss the movie.”

“I’m gonna force Cas and Cal to re-enact it. Trust me, it’s gonna be better than the original thing.”

It wasn’t an easy task to maneuver through the narrow space between the seats while supporting Zena and preventing any spillage. Someone in the back rows grumbled repeatedly as they blocked their view. Ezra knew the guy had no idea what was going on, but he was still tempted to grant him a little surprise from the bucket.

Once they had stepped out of the auditorium into the corridor, it was much easier to move ahead. Even in the dimmed light, Zena looked incredibly sick. Her dark complexion that usually had a cool undertone now seemed dull, like it was covered with a waxy sheen. The narrowed eyes, lowered brow and wrinkled nose mirrored the pain ravaging her body. She couldn’t stand upright and even their small steps seemed strenuous to her. Ezra’s arm was still around her waist, so he felt her muscles tensing with every cramp.

At least the restroom was close enough to get there in time, even while moving at a snail’s pace. A woman who was just leaving gave them a confused look at first, then held up the door as she saw the state Zena was in. Ezra thanked her wholeheartedly before he guided his friend to the cleanest looking cubical. Even getting down on her knees took time. Zena inhaled sharply as she made a wrong move and shut her eyes for a few seconds, frozen in motion, before she bent over the toilet. Ezra crouched next to her and held back her long braids.

“Do you think it was something you ate?”, he asked hesitantly. Ezra didn’t want to make things worse by reminding Zena of the food that might have made her sick – seafood and creamy noodles were still instant nausea fuel for him –, but the severity of her sudden attack concerned him. Zena’s back heaved, this time not with a retch, but with a sigh.

“No. I’m an idiot, that’s all.” Her pronunciation and frequent swallowing indicated that the second wave was close. And still, it was surprising how calm Zena remained. As much as she suffered, she didn’t seem concerned or surprised at all. “I should have listened to my body and stayed at home. It’s just… I missed you. All of you guys. I hate how things are right now.”

“So you did feel bad when I called. You sounded… off.”

“Not like this.” Zena spat out some drool that poured over her lip. “Didn’t think it would get this awful. I guess that’s what you get for tempting fate.”

“You should have told us you’re sick.” Ezra managed to secure Zena’s hair with one hand so he could put the other one on her back. “We could have still come over. You cared for me the whole time when I had my last stomach bug and during the shellfish poisoning mess, there’s now way I’m letting you down.”

“No, it's… I’m not ill. This is… normal. I mean, it’s on the intense side of normal, I don’t know why the pain killers didn’t work this time.”

“Wait, this is normal?” Confused, Ezra tried to catch a glimpse of Zena’s face, but she kept on staring into the bowl below her. “I never saw you like this and we pretty much lived together for a while.”

“It’s gotten way worse since then.” A small hiccup caused her shoulders to hitch. “Wait, why am I acting like this is some horrible secret? I’m on my period. That’s all. You’re my best friend and this shouldn’t be awkward, but it still kinda is.”

“Oh”, was the impressively eloquent answer Ezra came up with. Even though they weren’t a couple, they had seen each other naked, drunk, sick and in pretty much any other vulnerable, potentially embarrassing state. Why did he feel weird when it came to period talk? Zena was a woman, of course she had a menstrual cycle. He had just never really thought about it before. “I had no idea that this is what happens when… I mean… I was like ten seconds from calling a doctor.”

“This is so dumb.” Zena couldn’t hold back a laugh, even though it quickly turned into a pained moan. “Like y'all would have judged the hell out of me if I just told you. Especially Cas. I… I knew this was gonna be a bad one, but I still hoped it wouldn’t. I hate this so much.”

“I can tell why.” Ezra let his hand run up and down Zena’s spine. “And there’s nothing you can do about it?”

“Ever heard about endometriosis? I’m gonna get checked for it, but… that requires laparoscopy. And I’m a fucking baby that’s scared of surgery, so it’s procrastination time once again.”

“A baby? You’re going through hell and back every single month.” Ezra shook his head. What he saw had been frightening to look at, he couldn’t even imagine what it was like to actually feel it. “We didn’t even notice before.”

“Sometimes it’s tolerable if I take the pain killers in time”, Zena rasped, shivering harder again. “I don’t know why… oh God, it’s coming up.”

Zena lurched closer to the bowl as a gush of vomit shot out of her mouth. It had taken long enough for Ezra to hope that she wouldn’t have to throw up again, but now it was way more forceful than it had been in the auditorium. He patted between her shoulders while making sure that none of her braids escaped his grip.

“That’s a lot”, he couldn’t help but marvel, considering she had already been sick before twice. “You’re doing good, just let it out.”

Barely able to moan in between retches, Zena winced in pain and disgust. She brought up more of what looked like lumpy corn soup, then coughed desperately as another cramp clenched her body while she was still puking. Globs and lumps of vomit splattered on the seat. Ezra hit her more firmly between the shoulder blades to help her expel what made her choke.

“It’s okay, relax and try to breathe once you got it out.”

The muscle contractions that forced Zena’s stomach contents up her throat didn’t help with the intense spasms that already tortured her abdomen. She clasped her belly with both arms while tears were running down her cheeks, either from pain or the sheer force of vomiting. Ezra did his best to keep her over the bowl while her body wanted nothing but to curl up into a ball. With something between a retch and a sob, Zena spewed a more liquidy surge of pale yellow sick. Part of it hit the toilet seat and spilled on the floor, but at least she didn’t get it on herself.

“You’re almost done”, Ezra soothed her, going back to gentle rubs. With every gag, Zena threw up less fluid until nothing came up anymore. Once her stomach noticed she had run out of puke, Zena sank back against Ezra, panting wearily. He ripped off some toilet paper and wiped her mouth and chin. “Do you feel better?”

“Having a little endorphine burst over here”, she smiled faintly, eyes still closed. “Don’t know how long it will last, but I’m not gonna complain.”

“You earned it.” Ezra gave her a hug, careful not to put any pressure on her stomach. “Can you sit by yourself? I’ll do a quick cleaning before I’ll get you home.”

“Did I make a mess?” Zena looked up with such a guilty expression that Ezra couldn’t help but place a kiss on her forehead.

“Don’t worry, babe, your aim was great for the difficult circumstances.” Ezra wiped away the splashes on the seat and the small puddle on the floor. Then he emptied the popcorn bucket into the toilet and flushed everything down. The sour stench of puke still filled the air, but that couldn’t be helped.  "Now let’s get you tucked up on the couch with a hot-water bottle and some more pain pills.“

"How about a belly rub?”

“At your service.” Relieved that he had come by car, Ezra helped Zena back on her feet. After the real-life horror she had been through, she deserved to be pampered all day. Ezra still had hundreds of questions in mind, but that would have to wait until Zena got better. And even though he was determined to be open and casual about it, there were probably still some things that were less awkward when explained by the internet.

“I wonder if Preston is still alive”, Zena mumbled while they left the restroom.

I am good at playing guitar. Not great, competent. I lack the focus to really grind out the practice to break the barrier into being Really Really Good at something. So I guess I'm bad at learning??? But my actual answer to that is I'm bad at picking up on social queues/figuring out where I stand with people

I love them both, I love going to someone's house and they have a dog, but I'd personally rather live with a cat

A lot of what I've written this year are song lyrics that are NOT ready for anyone else's eyes lmao. You can have this little snippet from an Our Flag Means Death fic I'm working on though:

The dull Toronto sky barely seemed real as Ed stared gloomily out of his studio apartment window. The whole city felt fleeting, a hastily-painted backdrop to an imitation of life that looked as if it could start peeling away at any moment. He remembered coming here with his mother as a teenager, resenting the city’s skyscrapers for blocking his view of home, all the friends he had to leave behind. It was childish to feel that way again, Ed thought, but he also knew he couldn’t help it. Stede made him happier than he’d ever thought possible, and everything that came between them was cruel in its indifference. They hadn’t arranged when to see each other again – that was normal, Ed needed to know his schedule before he could commit, and he normally called from a payphone once he had something to offer. But the wait until then didn’t make it any easier.

what is something that you’d like to create content for?

I want to make a video game lmao. I started designing a top-down shooter a while ago to see how it felt and I. It activated all the special interest neurons in my brain I want to make game mechanics and spend ages making little pixel art icons bc I will get v obsessive about the art style and- but that's not really what the question was lmao. Uh. I've only recently started getting into writing fanfic and stuff, I'm writing for Our Flag Means Death right now but I had some ideas in high school for Doctor Who fics that I might dust off at some point-

what’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year?

my year has NOT been going how i expected it to at all and some of it stings a bit, I won't lie, but that's unfair of me because things are really, really good when I get over myself and really think about it. I am happy, I'm just a little bit insane, but I'm leaving the place that is making my mental health tank in about a month so things are looking up!! and they were already good, I just!!!

what’s a hidden talent of yours?

I am good at So Few Things, I would not hide a talent, I am trying to seem like a good hire

are you religious?

No, but I think the sense of community and catharsis and connection to something so much bigger than myself I get when I see my favourite artists at a concert is close to the feeling I think a lot of people are chasing, and can feel, when explorign their faith. I would say I'm some kind of spiritual but I think that feeling just comes from Us, not because there's something Bigger out there

what’s something you wish to have at this moment?

A reason to leave this island Right Now I'm moving up north to be with my friend in a month and I could NOT be more excited but this is going to be the longest month of my life lmao

Favourite colour: Grey because it goes with everything. Grey because it makes you focus on my words and my expertise, not on what I look like. Grey because we fade into this life from it, and out again to it, and the universe is vast and uncaring. Grey because the colour of the overcast sky and rain dirty streets in the winter sings to my petrichor soul. Grey because it's the name of an old lover that I've never gotten over. Grey because it slips unseen into the background. Grey because it elevates every other colour around it and asks for nothing in return.

"No Comment" on Ao3, which is a Minho/Jisung StrayKids fic.

I'm re-reading "Vurt" by Jeff Noon, which is a very trippy old scifi book about drugs and VR (sort of) and street gangs and such. It drips language as worldbuilding and I love that.

"On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous" by Ocean Vuong, because I kept seeing so many heart wrenching quotes about the human mess between loving and living and coming to terms with otherness and trauma, and I eventually gave in and bought it, and now it's my cafe reading because it's the kind of book you have to inhale slowly and hold for a moment to savour.

And "Implementing Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies" because I'm still a nerd.

Last song: Pretty much looping a lot of Jackson Wang rn. Cruel has just come out, Blow is still a masterpiece. I am loving his new direction so much, it's deliciously broken. The actual last song on my spotify is Cult Leader by King Mala.

Last series: The last one I binged was Sandman (Netflix) because it came out last Friday and some people came over, but like with the books I never just watch one thing. Main things currently; in the middle of "3 will be free" (Thai, Youtube, more poly rep please!), Bulgasal (Korean, Netflix, almost done), Taxi Driver (Korean, Netflix, only started), and the usual continuous rewatch of The Untamed which gets me through the year.

Last movie: Yaksha Ruthless Operations (because Jinyoung, obvs), though last cinema movie was Everything Everywhere All at Once, which had a very enjoyable amount of Chinese language as well as being generally excellent :)

Currently working on: I have a full time job, but apart from that I'm working on two fics (a Devil Judge one because I will never never never be over it, and a Jinyoung/Wang Yibo one because... yeah, y'know I don't really understand the reason for that one either). I'm trying really hard to improve my writing because I keep going back and seeing lots of descriptions and feelings I should have added in and I'm trying to do that better at the editing stage rather than seeing gaps later when it's too late. And also organising a schedule of social activities for the IRL local tech group I'm part of (but starting to hate it, ngl, shush don't tell anyone).

here are the eight movies i watched for the month of june:

JUNE 6 - WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS

i liiiiked this. it has big 300k fanfiction energy and i’m sure there are a lot of AUs based on this specific movie. SUPER cute and hilarious! i love that they ended up falling in love with each other (which happens in most pretend relationships in media) bcs they kinda seriously did deserve each other?? somehow? through all their fights and trying to get away from each other, there was one thing that was constant: unresolved sexual tension. lol. it’s always there to bite pretend relationships in the butt

JUNE 7 - OCEAN WAVES

hmmm. i usually love studio ghibli but this was a miss for me. normally i would go well out of my way to try and justify fmc decisions, but rikako was so. FRUSTRATING. idk what gravitational pull she had on the people around her bc she was so awful to the people who wanted to help her. idk. she was so manipulative to taku the whole movie. not my taste.  in conclusion taku has awful taste in women. i know there’s a sequel to the novel this movie was based on idk anything about it but i’m hoping that they don’t end up together.

JUNE 13 - THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS

idk what to say. i’m not in any place to speak on the issues presented in this movie. what the nazis did were horrible and hateful. but this movie...this movie didn’t exactly show it very much. it was hidden from us for most of the movie - as we have bruno, our protagonist, innocent and naive to the faults of his family - so when the time came for bruno and shmuel to go inside the camp and into the gas chamber i was horrified. the way they held hands and accepted their fate.... but. i’ve read reviews that say that this movie was historically inaccurate and downplays the horrors jewish people went through during the holocaust. i’m disappointed that the movie doesn’t speak more on this. i want to educate myself more on this topic before i can speak any more about this, especially since this is a movie set in an actual historical event. one day i will rewatch this but for now i will leave it at this.

JUNE 14 - CASTLE IN THE SKY

admittedly this is a rewatch since i was so disappointed in ocean waves. i thought why not watch a ghibli movie you know is good? so...castle in the sky. i actually watched this for the first time in 2017 when i visited the artscience museum in singapore. it was amazing then and it is amazing now!  i love castle in the sky. i can’t find anything bad about it (except the way those grown men were looking at sheeta 😐) it’s a movie i could rewatch over and over again and never get tired of. i love the trust between pazu and sheeta even though they’d only just met. this is a heartwarming movie that makes me smile every time i watch it.

JUNE 20 - EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE

THIS. is the best movie of 2022. this honestly kinda changed my life. everything everywhere all at once is divided into three parts: everything, everywhere, and all at once. well, pretty obvious. this movie was perfectly comedic, perfectly heartwrenching, and had perfect fight scenes. in short: IT’S A PERFECT MOVIE. nothing can top this in my book honestly. the visuals were amazing, as was the sound design, the script was fantastic as well. it’s honestly kind of mind blowing that we get to watch movies of this quality in 2022. i was bawling by the end. every loose end was tied up into a perfect little knot.

one thing though: when i watched it, the only thought in my mind was “man, i wish i could’ve watched this in a cinema,” since everything everywhere didn’t exactly have a cinema release in my country when i watched it. 

BUT.

i was checking the cinema schedules for my local movie theatres (for rise of gru 😔) and EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE WAS GOING TO START PLAYING IN MY LOCAL THEATRE STARTING JUNE 29. it was a total shock to me since i had no idea it was going to start playing anywhere near me. obviously i got tickets as soon as i could (for june 30 so technically it was the last movie i watched in june) and let me tell you rn IT’S EVEN BETTER IN THE CINEMA. i had goosebumps the whole time.

if i could give this movie a 10/5 stars on letterboxd i would. WATCH IT.

(btw stephanie hsu from bmc is in it so if that isn’t more of a reason to watch it idk what is.)

JUNE 21 - EARWIG AND THE WITCH

i watched this on netflix which was probably a mistake since the only language option there was english dub. a lot of ppl think this movie is bad but honestly i really enjoyed it lol. i love how she got everything she wanted in the end. she’s manipulative but in a cute way (does such a thing exist?) so TAKE NOTES rikako. once again studio ghibli does no wrong (except u ocean waves)

it ended in kind of a weird spot though. i wish we had a bit more especially since her mom finally made an appearance. i love the relationship between earwig and the mandrake and i also love how bella yaga warmed up to earwig by the end. cute!

i watched this with cy (hi cy) and even before this movie ended i was already making a spotify playlist about it. the first song? dbatc. the last song? clean. did you know dbatc was actually based on this movie? ALSO did you know that this movie was based on 1989???? ISN’T THAT SO FITTING??? i love that so much. i love /this movie/ so much. although i feel like it had even more sex scenes than fleabag which was 18+ and this was only 16+

it was kinda cringey sometimes and you could clearly tell it was made for and by millenials, but the break up aspect of it was done so well that i just didn’t mind. it was heartbreaking, and soul crushing, and everything a breakup can be. i can’t wait to watch this movie when i’m going through a break up lol it would be cathartic

also: the monologue. wow.

i feel like if it had better animation, better voice actors, and MORE BACKGROUND MUSIC, it would be around a 4. it was so weird. not to mention the casual racism and the horrible accents. WHY DID THEY GIVE RONALDO A SIX-PACK BTW???

Tom Cruise is in France for the premiere of the film "Top Gun: Maverick" at the Cannes Film Festival. He took the opportunity to visit the headquarters of the Patrouille de France and received a beautiful tribute from the demonstration squadron of the French Air and Space Force. The actor who plays Captain Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the feature film also took the opportunity to meet Patrouille de France on Tuesday to talk about "cinema and especially aviation," witnessed Captain Grégory, pilot of the French squadron.

To welcome Pete "Maverick" Mitchell's return to business, the Patrouille de France passed twice in the Cannes sky, above the red carpet, leaving the team enthusiastic about the passages of the Alpha Jets jets.

Tom Cruise was also surprised by the honorary Palme d'Or of the festival.

After a very remarkable arrival by helicopter in the afternoon, the festivities did not stop there. The Patrouille de France paid tribute to the actor by climbing the steps, leaving a blue-white-red trail in the sky. A passage much appreciated by the entire cast, producer and director of the film "Top Gun: Maverick".

The Alpha Jets, based not far away, at 701 Air Base in Salon-de-Provence, enchanted the cast of the film, including Jennifer Connelly, Miles Teller and Glen Powell, who savored the show with the same admiration.

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to the 80s cult film, is scheduled to premiere on May 26.

Killers of the Flower Moon Teases Betrayal, Love, and Murder

Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese have joined forces once again to bring us what's being called one of the best releases of the decade. The second trailer of Killers of the Flower Moon has arrived and it's safe to say we're head over heels about it. The movie is an attempt to portray deceit and depict the helplessness of a community being robbed of its land. The central figure of the story is a man named Ernest Burkhart who witnesses his uncle William Hale trying to use the Osage community to steal resources. Stuck in a vicious cycle of manipulation, scandals, and mysterious murders, Ernest will find himself in a complicated position. Reviewers couldn't stop talking about this one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Its Rotten Tomatoes score is an impressive 97%. Killers of the Flower Moon is now scheduled to be released in theaters on October 20 worldwide before it is available for streaming on Apple TV+.  Getting to experience the cinematic visuals in theaters created by one of the most accomplished filmmakers of his generation seems nothing but a delight. There was, after all, every reason to look forward to this year’s autumn awards season with sky-high morale. The #Barbenheimer phenomenon was a box-office smash beyond distributors’ wildest dreams. What started as a speculative hashtag joke has generated real returns for two very different movies: a fantasy-comedy about a doll and a searing epic about the father of the A-bomb. And even the attendant online debates – is Barbie just a glorified ad? Does Oppenheimer overlook the Japanese perspective? – have energised engagement with cinema. The movies have become important again and people have been brought back to the cinema in their biggest numbers since the pandemic. It also shows that original films from auteur directors can deliver numbers to match and even exceed any franchise.

And yet and yet. The studios and producers have been neglecting the very people who have been labouring to create this new surge, and striving for years before that. The resulting WGA writers’ strike in May in support of greater residuals had serious implications for TV shows and movie projects in the development stage. Now Sag-Aftra (the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of TV and Radio Artists) has come out on strike too, due to concerns around residuals and AI – a scenario that Variety magazine described as “Armageddon”.

In this game of chicken, each studio will wonder if its opponent will blink and pull its award-bait movie from cinemas first, leaving them a freer field and a greater chance at Oscar glory – even though the strike means that promoting their films has become very difficult. Every sign is that the studios will want to settle this strike quickly, nervily obsessed, as they always are, with a succession of big immediate first-weekend returns on new releases.'

To start the year, Gateway Theatre is launching a free audio plays series, A Year of Blessings, where young audiences and their families can learn and explore the wonders behind traditional Chinese festivals in a fun and entertaining way. David O. Russell’s new 1930s-set dramedy has one of those everyone’s-in-it casts. Looking forward to it! Opens 10/7.

Todd Field hasn’t directed a film since 2006′s Little Children, which is why expectations are sky-high for this one starring Cate Blanchett as a classical composer. Opens 10/7.

Triangle of Sadness

I really dug Ruben Ostlund’s last few movies including The Square. This new one is about a cruise ship gone awry. Opens 10/7.

Halloween Ends

I can't even describe just how unbelievably disappointed I was by last year’s Halloween Kills. David Gordon Green’s 2018 Halloween sequel/reboot hit reset on the series and ignored everything after the 1978 original and it was very effective! Last year’s sequel felt like just another Halloween movie. But hopes are high that this last film of the series (so they say) will end on a high note. Opening on 10/14 and on Peacock.

Till

I’ve seen several documentaries and biopics about Emmett Till and this new one about the mother’s pursuit of justice looks very powerful. Opening 10/14.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Return of the Dream Canteen

Earlier this year RHCP released Unlimited Love, which was their best since 2002 IMHO. Instead of making us wait another 5 years, they are releasing another new one on 10/14!

Foo Fighters The Essential Foo Fighters

In 2009, Foo Fighters released Greatest Hits and in the liner notes, Dave Grohl wrote that it was not necessarily their greatest hits, but more their biggest hits. Now with this new double album of hits all the way up to last year, the Foos are getting the Essential treatment!  Album drops on 10/28.

The Beatles Revolver Super Deluxe Edition

In the last few years we have been lucky enough to get the anniversary box set treatment for numerous Beatles albums including Sgt. Pepper, The White Album, Abbey Road and Let It Be. Now 1966′s Revolver is getting the deluxe box set treatment and I couldn’t be more excited. Box set release on 10/28.
