Fluffbruary Day 2
February 2: engagement | scent | jam
Dream of the Endless / Hob Gadling
Rated: G
-----
Dream steps into the waking in the kitchen of Hob's flat and stills for a moment.
Fowl, simmering in a thick sauce, redolent of cream and spice, and baking bread, sharp with sizzling garlic.
The heady aroma drifting from the bottle of deep red wine, open and breathing on the counter, dark and heavy with fruit.
The citrus tang of wood polish and the acidic bite of cleanser.
It all swirls around him, tantalizing hints of the hopes and daydreams that accompanied the cleaning, the cooking, the baking. A pleasant evening, a delicious meal, good conversation. An intimate night.
"Hob," he calls softly as he steps toward the sitting room. "I am here."
His beloved's head pops into the doorway leading from the bedroom, and before Dream takes another step, Hob is hastening toward him, arms outstretched, a smile dawning on his face.
"Hello, love," he says as Dream gathers him close, and Dream breathes in deeply as their lips meet, buried in his love's rich bouquet. The woody, floral scent of his hair, the citrus and sandalwood of his skin, even the soft, fresh hint of the soap in which his clothing was laundered.
They are the scents of home.
END
-----
Thanks for the inspiration, @fluffbruary!

here’s what i tested this month - march 2024
Tumblr media
if you wouldn’t like to see posts like this, block the tag “🤍 lifestyle tag” 🖤
🕯 little disclaimer: these are all my own opinions; nothing incentivized or gifted; all bought on my own; products will always work differently for different people, so these may work differently for you
BYOMA Cleansing Oil ($12.99)
5/5 - I picked this up from my local target - I have been really enjoying this cleanser. When I have on makeup, I use this then the Milky Jelly Cleanser, but a lot of days I use this as my only cleanser. It’s really gentle on the skin and cleanses it without overly stripping it. This is probably one of the best oil cleansers I’ve ever tried. And it’s at Target. I use two pumps for my face. It removes eye makeup very gently and thoroughly without tugging on the skin or lashes. I was able to remove glitter with this too. I’ve personally used olive oil before when my mascara just wouldn’t come off and this cleanser works better than that. For reference.
PACIFICA Vegan Collagen Recovery Night Cream ($26.00)
2/5 - I bought this at target for $22.00 USD and since then there has been a price increase. I really wanted to like this night cream. Now, this is a collagen night cream, which contrary to popular clickbait skincare, does not increase collagen production. It contains collagen, which does not penetrate the deep layers of the skin (where your own collagen is produced), but what it does do is condition the skin a lot. Topical collagen is very good for that. That’s what I bought this with intentions of, since I tend to have normal to dry skin with topical dehydration, plus skin sensitivity. Now, this cream made my skin flush and it really didn’t moisturize as much as I expected it to as a night cream. This has some fragrance in it and I think that’s the ingredient that my skin did not like. It was not a good sensation. Way too expensive for what it is.
Saltair Serum Body Wash ($12.00)
5/5 - I got this at my local target, in scents “Exotic Pulp” and “Lush Greens”. I love both of the scents. As previously mentioned, I have sensitive skin. All my skin is sensitive. I’ve been really struggling to find a good body wash that isn’t very expensive and works for my skin. It’s probably been 4 years of looking for something that worked. This works. This body wash is very gentle without leaving the skin feeling “grubby” or oily. I can use this on my chest, where I have issues with body ache and breakouts, and I believe the niacinamide in this formula actually helped with that. “Exotic Pulp” is a tropical, citrus scent, like mangos, passionfruit, and oranges .”Lush Greens” is a very green smell, like a kale drink, but with a little bit of fruit, very fresh. I love both of these. A lot. I haven’t had dry patches, irritated areas, or hives, which I have had before from other body washes. And it’s $12.
Necessaire Body Wash ($25)
4/5 - I ordered this directly from Necessiare’s website. This is a really good body wash. I don’t really like the “Eucalyptus” scent, but it does smell like diluted eucalyptus, so it does smell like that. This doesn’t irritate my skin, I’m just not a massive smell of the scents. They do have an unscented version available. My biggest issue with it is the price. I don’t want to pay $25 for a body wash. It’s really good though. I just wish it was a little cheaper for how much you get. My favorite scent is “Bergamot” in this line, which is very bergamot and almost mossy. It’s good.
Necessaire Body Lotion ($28)
4/5 - I ordered this directly from Necessaire’s website. This is one of the only body lotions I’ve used that works for my skin. No breakouts, no greasy film, my skin actually absorbs it, and no irritation. My skin does not like coconut oil and this product has none. This one has no fragrance added so that’s not a factor I need to worry about. I hate the price. I don’t wanna pay $28 for something I go through rather quickly. But this lotion saved me this winter. So. I’ll probably still buy it but begrudgingly.
Frenshe Body Wash ($10.99)
3/5 - I got this at my local target. This is a pretty good body wash. I’m personally not crazy about any of the scents, but they are certainly not bad at all. My biggest qualm about this is that it dried out my skin a bit. It left it feeling tight. However, if you can tolerate body wash better than me, you’ll probably like it. I think the scents are generally very gender-neutral.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner ($13.00)
4/5 - I got this at my local Target since it has an Ulta Beauty inside. I did not buy this for my face initially, I have some areas on my body where I like to exfoliate and my skin reacts to AHA’s very well. This works great on my body, I’ve had no irritation and I‘ve seen improvement in texture/breakouts. I did try this on my face and I did not like it. It has an oily consistency and it just sat on my face really weird. It didn’t really sink into my face well at all. So I really only use this on my body now and honestly, it’s fine because that’s why I bought it in the first place.

🌸💅🏽 for Mino and dragon queen? :3
Hey Arrow! Happily!
[Asks from this ask game]
Minovae
🌸 What do they smell like? Do they wear a signature scent?
Minovae spells like all sorts of things! Depending on the time of day and how soon she's not just bathed but had one of her "grooming nights", and whether or not she's been in her armor.
Her typical "passed her in the hall" scent would be a mix of armor polish and metal but something sweet and spicy laced with it. Her ganzi physiology means she has all sorts of different products for the different parts of her: skin vs hair vs scales vs feathers. Everything requires their own unique care and so she has a pretty elaborate routine with lots of scents involved!
Her skin gets a simple milk and honey scented wash that hydrates any chafed skin from armor or her scales pinching, and is then moisturized with a scentless lotion derived from oats (so she doesn't smell like a walking perfume shop). Her scales are treated with a kaolin clay scrub and then sealed with a beeswax and honey based balm so they have a protective layer to keep them from chipping and flaking, and keeps them shiny too! Her feathers don't get shampoo since it dulls their color and makes them stiff and itchy, instead being treated with a cleanser and oil that leaves them soft, shiny, vibrant, and smelling strongly of citrus (specifically bergamot). Last is her hair, which the shampoo and conditioner combined leaves smelling faintly of warm sweetness, almost vanilla-like.
So as for signature scent? If anything it would be that citrus, which reminds her of home and isn't particularly offensive. On occasions where she need get dressed up and look nice, she might dab some of that oil on her wrists and neck.
💅🏽 How do they keep their nails, long or short? Do they paint or decorate them? Do they bite their nails or pick at their cuticles?
Wow I haven't actually considered Mino's nails much! Truthfully, she would keep them short and groomed lest risking infection and breaking in battle. It'd be part of her weekly grooming night, making sure they're as short as possible and filed, and the cuticles are pushed back and any possible hangnails dealt with.
She wouldn't bite her nails or pick at her cuticles either--her nervous picking habits would be at her scales if she's pressed enough.
On fancy occasions she would paint them to match her outfit.
Morolai
🌸 What do they smell like? Do they wear a signature scent?
A much, much stronger scent. She has to cover up the underlying scent of acid that lingers around her from her black dragon lineage. She'd been drawn to all sorts of floral scents, rotating between them to match her outfit and mood: jasmine, lavender, rose, etc.
That smell of acid, burning and hot, will always be lingering beneath though, like a quiet warning.
She might also smell like any recent magic she's cast! Ozone from lightning spells and such.
💅🏽 How do they keep their nails, long or short? Do they paint or decorate them? Do they bite their nails or pick at their cuticles?
Oh, Morolai's claws are her everything. Since awakening to her bloodrager heritage, her claws have always been lined with black scales and the nails themselves are black as the starless night. They're nearly indestructible and even if they do break or chip, they heal extremely quickly (even just a surge of magic from within her is enough to repair them on the spot!).
So, she doesn't really have much of a choice in their length, even if she cared about keeping them short. They're long - several inches long, and do make basic tasks a nuisance at times, though nothing a servant or mage hand can't fix. She does often tease the tip of them between her teeth, when she's in a "toying with her prey" kind of mood (cheeky, flirty, playful).
Since they're her pride and joy, she's always fussing over her cuticles and making sure her hands stay healthy. No paint, since "they're already perfect", she would say.

What Does Your Skin Actually Need? A Guide to Healthy and Radiant Skin
By Dr. Olivia Grant
The skin, being the body's largest organ, plays a crucial role in protecting our internal systems, regulating body temperature, and acting as a barrier against harmful external factors. As humans, we have a natural inclination to keep our skin healthy and attractive, not only for vanity's sake but also to reflect our overall well-being. This article aims to delve into what our skin truly needs to maintain optimal health and radiance, while also exploring the evolutionary reasons behind our fascination with skin and its impact on attractiveness.
Understanding the Skin:
Before diving into the needs of the skin, it's essential to understand its structure. The skin consists of three layers: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The outermost layer, the epidermis, acts as a protective barrier, while the dermis contains vital structures such as blood vessels, hair follicles, and sweat glands. The hypodermis provides insulation and stores energy.
Hydration: The Key to Healthy Skin:
One of the fundamental needs of the skin is proper hydration. Adequate moisture ensures that the skin remains supple, prevents dryness, and minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. To maintain optimal hydration, it is crucial to drink an adequate amount of water daily. Additionally, using moisturizers and skincare products with humectants, such as hyaluronic acid, can help attract and retain moisture in the skin.
Cleansing and Protection:
Keeping the skin clean is vital for maintaining its health. Regular cleansing helps remove dirt, oil, and environmental pollutants that can clog pores and lead to skin issues like acne. However, it's essential to strike a balance, as over-cleansing or using harsh cleansers can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness and irritation.
Furthermore, protecting the skin from overexposure to UV rays is of utmost importance. Sun exposure is a significant contributor to premature aging, pigmentation, and an increased risk of skin cancer. To protect your skin effectively, it is advisable to take certain precautions such as wearing protective clothing made of cotton, including wide-brimmed hats, and avoiding direct sunlight during peak hours.
Nutrition and Skin Health:
The condition of our skin is closely linked to our overall nutrition. A balanced diet rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats provide the necessary nutrients to support skin health and repair.
Vitamins and Minerals: Several vitamins and minerals play a crucial role in skin health. Vitamin C aids in collagen production and helps protect the skin from oxidative stress. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and supports skin hydration. Zinc contributes to wound healing and helps regulate sebum production, while selenium and copper are vital for maintaining the skin's integrity.
Antioxidants: Antioxidants help protect the skin from free radicals, unstable molecules that can damage cells and accelerate aging. Antioxidant-rich foods include berries, leafy greens, citrus fruits, and green tea.
Essential Fatty Acids: Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids are crucial for maintaining the skin's integrity and preventing inflammation. Sources of these fatty acids include fatty fish, flaxseeds, chia seeds, and walnuts.
Lifestyle Factors:
In addition to external skincare practices and nutrition, certain lifestyle factors significantly impact skin health. These include:
Quality Sleep: Inadequate sleep can lead to dull and lackluster skin. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep each night to allow the skin to repair and regenerate.
Stress Management: Chronic stress can trigger inflammatory skin conditions and accelerate the aging process. Engaging in stress management techniques such as exercise, meditation, deep breathing exercises, and pursuing hobbies can help reduce stress levels and promote healthier skin.
Regular Exercise: Physical activity improves blood circulation, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, giving your complexion a healthy glow. It also promotes the production of collagen, which keeps the skin firm and supple.
Avoiding Smoking and Excessive Alcohol Consumption: Smoking reduces blood flow to the skin, depriving it of essential nutrients and oxygen. It also damages collagen and elastin, leading to premature wrinkles and sagging. Excessive alcohol consumption can dehydrate the skin and contribute to inflammation.
Evolutionary Perspectives on Skin and Attractiveness:
Humans have evolved to analyze each other's skin to determine health and attractiveness. Clear, radiant skin has been associated with good overall health, as it indicates proper hydration, nutrition, and a lack of underlying health issues. Evolutionarily, selecting a mate with healthy skin would have been advantageous for reproductive success and passing on good genes to offspring.
Our fascination with skin and attractiveness is deeply ingrained, and this has influenced societal beauty standards throughout history. However, it's important to note that true beauty encompasses a wide range of skin types and tones, and embracing diversity is crucial for promoting inclusivity and self-acceptance.
Caring for our skin goes beyond vanity; it is essential for our overall health and well-being. By understanding the needs of our skin and providing it with proper hydration, protection, nutrition, and lifestyle care, we can maintain its health, radiance, and youthful appearance. Additionally, recognizing the evolutionary reasons behind our fascination with skin can help us appreciate the diverse beauty that exists and promote a more inclusive perspective on attractiveness. So, let's prioritize our skin's needs and embrace the skin we're in, knowing that it reflects our inner and outer vitality.

"What's with your tone? It should be -
Yayyyyyyyyyy! Finally summer is here." Arya says excitedly.
"Ya. But with the heat it's just not us not who are ready to hit the beach but rashes, breakouts and sunburns are ready to hit us too.", Sighs Sneha.
"Not when we know how to avoid it", Arya encourages
"Easy for someone with fab skin to say.", Sneha retorts.
"Oh hello nothing is fab without effort and my skincare routine changes according to the environment and weather. Wanna know my secret and be summer ready?", Arya says
Sneha nods excitedly.
"First things first, hydration is important."
"Thank you Captain obvious!", Both roll their eyes.
"Will you listen? It is essential to hydrate our bodies inside & outside. Drink water at regular intervals, use hyaluronic serum, moisturizing sheet mask and facial mist to spritz on during the day.
Use an alcohol free, pH balanced, water or gel based cleanser twice a day and avoid over-cleansing.
Use a lightweight, oil-free, vitamin C serum and don't forget a moisturizer that'll help to trap in the hydration.
Introduce green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and nuts in your diet to get a good dose of antioxidants.
Use gentle scrub twice a week and be gentle with your skin.
Use light makeup and don't skip your night routine.
Do not forget your eyes, lips and feet and take good care of them.
Don't skip your sunscreen even when you are indoors. Make sure you reapply them every few hours to ensure you avoid pigmentation, uneven texture and dull skin. Use a SPF 40 broad spectrum sunscreen. "
"And these will help me to have fab skin?", asked Sneha suspiciously.
"I always do that", Arya said nonchalantly
"Okay!" Sneha runs away with Arya's skin care pouch.
"Hey! Not fair", Arya runs after Sneha.

what skincare products do you use ✨
Hey bestie!! Idk if you mean my full skincare routine or not but I’ll just give you the rundown fjfjfkkfkcjf also I should preface this by saying that I’ve always had normal skin! I’ve never had acne or any real skin concerns. This is largely genetic, since up until 2 years ago the most I ever did was wash my face with water. My warm weather routine is:
pm:
- evoluderm micellar water (to remove my makeup if I’m wearing any)
1. purito defense barrier pH cleanser
2. peach slices snail rescue toner
3. cosrx snail 96 mucin essence
4. the ordinary salicylic acid 2% anhydrous solution (as needed), niacinamide 10% + zinc 1% on my t-zone (I get a little oily in the summer), and alpha arbutin 2% + HA on my chin (to fade pimple scars from wearing masks)
5. lookatme teen again eye serum
6. peach slices citrus-honey moisture gel
And in the mornings I just wash my face with water and use the cosrx aloe sun cream!! <3

The Health Benefits of Pink Himalayan Sea Salt
Pink Himalayan Sea Salt is a delectable product that has many uses. It is often used in the baking and cooking arts because of its delightful color. Although the salt has become more popular in recent years, the pink hue has been around since the ancient times. People have enjoyed the flavor of Himalayan sea salt for centuries. In fact, the salt is used as an important ingredient in Chinese medicine. Today, it can be found in many health and well-being products, from supplements and sweets to soaps and health drinks. Pink Himalayan Sea Salt has a light pink tint due to the trace minerals found in the mined deposits. This makes it ideal for adding light color to body scrubs and personal care products, especially those with a lavender or citrus flavor. It has a light pinkish color but does not turn dark during grilling or roasting. Due to its light color, it does not add much flavor to food. But its color does add to the natural nutrients and minerals that are in your food. As mentioned above, the pink Himalayan Sea Salt has trace minerals that can be used for varied purposes. These include deodorant and soap additive. In addition to being used as a food and body scrub additive, it is also a great skin cleanser. As you may have guessed, the pink hue of the salt can help remove mineral impurities in your skin and hair. Because it has many natural minerals, the pink Himalayan Sea Salt has been used for many ancient rituals. Some of these rituals include removing demons from the body, maintaining good health and curing certain medical problems. The various health benefits that come from using this salt range from aiding the heart and circulatory system to raising your energy level and preventing urinary tract infections. However, when purchasing products made with the himalayan pink salt or using it on your tableware and dishes, it is important to know which types are higher in purification and which are lower. If you purchase an impure product, you run the risk of not only having bad effects on your health, but on damaging your expensive kitchenware. When looking at the health benefits of the salt, you will find that there are several that stand out. For example, one of the main health benefits of the pink Himalayan Sea Salt is that it helps to increase the amount of magnesium that is found within your system. Magnesium helps to regulate the blood pressure as well as help with muscle and bone development. Other health benefits that you may find include lowering the blood sugar levels and helping to prevent cancer and heart disease. The salt is also believed to help with boosting your immune system. It is believed to be even more effective than Vitamin D and E in boosting your immune system because it takes place within the intestines. Another one of the health benefits of using this salt comes from the fact that it contains a high amount of calcium which is needed to strengthen the bones. Calcium is known to play an important role in promoting strong bones, teeth, cartilage and teeth. When it comes to the mineral content of the pink sea salt, you will discover that it contains a very high concentration of trace minerals such as potassium, sodium and iron. As you age, your body becomes less efficient at converting these minerals into their essential states. One way that this occurs is by reducing the absorption rate. Therefore, it is important to use products with this type of salt to help keep your body's ability to absorb minerals at a high level. As we age, our bodies naturally lose sodium and potassium because the cells and organs don't have the necessary capacity to process them. When we don't replenish our sodium intake, we can experience weakness, muscle cramps, loss of thirst, weak immunity, dizziness and vomiting. When you take foods with a high sodium content, your blood pressure may increase. This can lead to cardiovascular problems and even heart attacks. On the other hand, a diet rich in sodium and potassium and a regular use of pink Himalayan sea salt minerals can help to prevent cardiovascular diseases and can actually lower your blood pressure. In addition to helping to improve your health, taking the pink Himalayan sea salt can also help to improve the taste of your food. Since sodium is known to give food a salty flavor, when you replace the sodium in your diet with a healthy source such as this salt, you will notice a big difference in your taste. Salt helps to bring out the flavor of certain foods. This is one of the reasons why doctors recommend that people who want to change their diet to eat less salt. If you are suffering from hypertension and you want to lower your blood pressure, then it would be advisable for you to start eating more nutritious foods and include more pink Himalayan sea salt in your daily diet.
