So, apparently, a Rivals Direct (Dan Fornace’s answer to Nintendo Directs) aired today and I was like the last person to know about it... funny, too, considering that I’m just about the biggest Rivals fan on this site. So, I went to go check it out to see what was new, and...

CLAIREN. HAS. A. VOICE. ACTOR. 🖤❤️🖤

I was not expecting the Rivals Direct to follow suit the way it did. It had EVERYTHING; a Lovers of Aether presentation set in college, voice acting, Twitch viewers rallying together to fight a Zetterburn CPU (And winning), details about the upcoming Rivals of Aether comic, and a taste of a brand new 3D Rivals of Aether title!

But what surprised me the most was that there was just SO MUCH CLAIREN CONTENT. Like... she appeared so many times throughout the Direct, and not only does she now have a canon voice, but the first issue of the Rivals of Aether comic is going to be all about her!! Dan Fornace has sensed my need for more Clairen content, and HE DELIVERED.

A new future generation the place where spongebob and squidward have two kids and the both kids are named coraline and clairene Clairene is 10 while coral is 13 she is adopted and spongebob is a mom while squidward is a dad so same as karendy and patindy so karen is a mama and sandy is mom their kid is named aidan who is a male and he is 12 and the other one king patrick and queen mindy they only have one daughter and her name is pops she is older than coral she is 14 and hangs out with her always and about squilliam well yes he has a husband too his name is squillias leggys (credits for the comic who made it herself as pancaketiffy) they both have two adopted sons one is named kristopher non binary and an 18 year old the other sibling is samuel 19 years old AND AS FOR MR KRABS AND PLANKTON YOU COULD SAY THEY BOTH ARE LEGALLY MARRIED AND MAKING UP THEIR LOST TIME WHICH THEY DID WHEN THEY WERE FRIENDS SINCE KIDS!

AFTER MONTHS OF WAITING

I FINALLY GOT AHOLD OF A CLAIREN PLUSH 🖤❤️🖤

I cannot put into words how in love with this plush I am. Everything about it is absolutely perfect; her visor can come off, her plasma blade magnetically attaches to her hand, she’s super soft and the material her cloak is made out of is even softer! She’s the biggest Rivals of Aether plush Symbiote Studios has put out, and that means more Clairen to cuddle! I am just SO in love right now!! 🖤❤️🖤 I realize I haven’t spoken much on the matter, but my Rivals of Aether plush collection isn’t limited to just Clairen. In fact, when I received her today, I also received the recently released Absa plush along with a plush of Ranno I ordered! Before I had those three, I had previously gotten plushes of Kragg and Maypul, too, so now we’re up to five Rivals of Aether plushes that I hold close to my heart! Now I finally get to hug Clairen!! And since I have her and Absa in addition to Maypul, you know what that means...

F/O gushing aside, I’m so stoked that I get to have merch of Clairen— I’m sure a lot of you can imagine how special she is to me, and getting to be able to hold her just means the world to me. I love her so much 🖤❤️🖤

What are your headcanons for Clairen?

Oooh, I always love an opportunity to talk about Clairen! ⦁ Clairen's full name is Clairen Fireaux. I have a feeling that this has a chance to change when Tales of Aether releases, but for the time being, this is the name I've headcanoned her with. ⦁ Clairen, in spite of being a relatively new student to Aether High, has quite a following— not on the same level of Zetterburn, obviously, but she's definitely got some notoriety. I headcanon this because she is the most dated Rival in Lovers of Aether, so it's only fitting that she would have some kind of following. ⦁ In terms of the Lovers of Aether universe, I personally headcanon that she doesn't hail from the future— and before you begin brandishing your pitchforks and torches, allow me a moment to say my piece. I headcanon this because I feel as though it matches up a little too much with her Rivals of Aether character.

For example, in Rivals of Aether, Sylvanos first begins on the side of good, regenerating the destroyed Aetherian Forest, but takes a turn for the worse when he eventually wants to turn all of Aether into a forest. Meanwhile, in Lovers of Aether, Sylvanos is a shredded, jock-type character who credits his hulking strength to his suspicious proprietary blend, but in the end, he means well (Unless you count his LoA concept art lol)

Meanwhile, in the Rivals of Aether and Lovers of Aether continuities, Clairen is... pretty much the same, the only changes made to her are (Of course) her design and her personality. I headcanon that LoA Clairen has a large interest in technology, and because of this, is somewhat of a nerd... no wonder I'm in love with her so much! ⦁ Clairen is 5'7". ⦁ Clairen tends to be a little overprotective and fierce in times of strife, being a nod to her personality in the Rivals of Aether continuity. She can and will bear her fangs and strike if needed. ⦁ Clairen sometimes has trouble opening up to others, a reference to how she tells no one but the player about her true motives in LoA's canon. She doesn't have trust issues on the same level as Elliana, but she tends to keep things to herself, sometimes even outright refusing help if she is offered it, believing she can do just fine herself... but she also knows her limits. ⦁ Clairen's favorite color is ruby pink, the same color as her jacket and wristbands. ⦁ Clairen considers Zetterburn and Forsburn as family. Because of my previous headcanon that Clairen isn't from the future is in check, Clairen wouldn't be related to Forsburn like she is in the Rivals continuity. She admires Zetterburn's popularity and hopes to one day be as cool as him, and also really likes Forsburn’s brooding poetry. ⦁ Clairen's favorite classes are Physical Education and Tech Ed. Physical Education because she is very agile (And an expert at dodgeball) and Tech Ed because... well, it's pretty much all computer smarts, something she knows her way around. ⦁ Clairen has a boyfriend. His name is Psycha. You knew this was coming.

One thing that I've been curious about for a while is what Psycha and Clarien's interactions would be like the Rivals of Aether universe since it's so different from the Lovers of Aether universe. How would they meet each other and what would they do together?

It was a little embarrassing how long it took me to come up with an answer to this, I guess that goes to show which of the two universes I've been thinking about more (Here's a hint: It starts with 'L' and ends with 'overs of Aether'). Regardless, it's an excellent question, but before I can answer how Psycha and Clairen would interact with each other in the Rivals of Aether continuity, there are a handful of things I would like to make known first! Firstly, unlike his Lovers of Aether counterpart, Rivals of Aether Psycha is a bit more courageous (But still has his moments of sheepishness), kind of like how RoA Clairen is a lot more badass compared to her socially awkward personality found in LoA. Secondly, the fact that Psycha and Clairen meet in the Rivals of Aether continuity at all is extremely lucky. Remember, Clairen returns to the present from a bleak future in which Emperor Loxodont reigns supreme, so the odds of Psycha existing in the exact time that Clairen traveled back to are insane to say the least. I imagine that Psycha would be one of the first few people Clairen trusts with the truth that the heroes of fire have vanished in the near future, merely because they bump into each other by chance. Psycha, being a world-class foreteller, finds this not too hard to believe, always having a gut feeling that Loxodont would rise in power. Clairen is pleasantly surprised in Psycha's ability to foretell the future almost flawlessly, and that's about where their bond begins. Just like in Lovers of Aether, Psycha falls in love with Clairen the moment he first lays eyes on her, but it takes Clairen even longer to admit her feelings of affection to Psycha... after all, she is on a mission, so she probably wouldn't think a lot about anything other than getting the truth out, but I love to think that she can't help but find Psycha cute, too. Clairen finds Psycha's psychic abilities (In both foretelling and combat) useful, so she offers for him to tag along with her for the Fire Capital, an offer he accepts. I can see the two fighting alongside each other, they would make for an excellent team! And if you want a really cool mental image, you know this still from the Mega Man 10? Imagine that but with Psycha and Clairen! It's just the coolest!

I know that you already made a post all about PsyClairen, but I just love their relationship so much that I wanted to ask if there's anything else you've thought of for them

Of course! I do love going off about anything PsyClairen!

- Every day before school, Psycha will meet Clairen at her locker, or vice versa. When in the presence of others, Psycha wants to keep any sort of physical attention between them to a minimum, but Clairen can't help but embrace him in a big, loving hug any moment she sees him, which he always diffidently returns. Sometimes, if the two are heading to a class they share together, they will hold hands.

- Clairen absolutely adores snuggling up against Psycha because, as she puts it, he's 'just too soft'. One of her favorite things she likes to do to him is squish his cheeks together— just about every time she does, it forces a small laugh out of Psycha, which never fails to brighten Clairen's day. Psycha also loves snuggling up with Clairen, as being in her arms makes him feel safe.

- I know I have a tendency to link this specific image a lot, but hear me out on this one. Clairen knows full well that it is very easy to get Psycha to blush, and one way she loves to achieve that is by shooting this look at him whenever the two lock eyes with each other at a distance; it always gets him to cover his face, flustered.

- In my PsyClairen in Five Minutes post, one specific chart states that Psycha is more of a physical affection kind of person, whereas Clairen is more well-versed in verbal affection. While not very common, Psycha will sometimes muster up enough courage to deliver verbal affection to Clairen, but finds it very hard to, stuttering and having trouble finding his words sometimes even if all he wants to say is that she looks cute. She is still very patient with him though and always appreciates what he has to say about her.

- I forgot to mention this in my Clairen headcanon post, but I headcanon that Clairen skateboards and can absolutely shred. Sometimes, Clairen will skate to Psycha's house after school to hang out with him, and has been known to come up with just about any excuse she can to be there (Her most popular one being 'group project work’). Psycha admires how cool Clairen looks when she skates, but will grow concerned for her safety when she gets reckless.

- Sometimes, when Psycha has nothing better to do in class, he will draw Clairen. Most of the time, he keeps his drawings of her to himself, though if he feels like it's good enough to show her (Or anyone, for that matter), he will give it to her personally. Clairen is always overjoyed whenever she receives a drawing of herself from him and has a small collection going inside of her locker.

- Psycha and Clairen's first kiss is at a high school football game. Normally, I would go into detail on how it all happens, but I am saving it for something you will get to see in due time... 🖤❤️🖤

The heroes of fire have vanished. In a distant future, where flame is lost... ... one warrior fought to reclaim it.

Rivals of Aether is just so cool. You know a game is close to my heart when I actually draw characters from it, and given most of my reblogs as of late have centered around Clairen, The Flame’s Salvation, I had to draw her sooner or later... and countless layers, tiny fixes and an astounding level of intricacy later, I am absolutely stoked to bring you what may just be one of my best drawings in a long, long time. It’s extremely rare I go all out on a drawing like this one. Like, there’s even focus on lighting— even I don’t remember the last time I drew something and actively made sure the lighting looked right. But man was the turnout spectacular.

This would not look nearly as good had it not been for RoA’s artist @elranno’s extensive concept art for Clairen, of which I referenced frequently when drawing her so that she would look as good and design-accurate as possible, even if I’m no expert at anthropomorphic characters. Anatomy was also a tremendous struggle when drawing her, but I was somehow able to have the result look good— great, even.

I realize I say this every so often about a piece, but I am really proud of this drawing. From the first sketch of it on paper to adding the last few layers, there was an immense amount of love put into this, and for a fictional other like Clairen, it was more than necessary. Here’s to hoping you enjoy this drawing, because I know I do!

The other night, I had the perfect idea for a Rivals of Aether sona, and I am coming out full force in admitting that it’s a self insert because this isn’t the first time I’ve done so and I really don’t have that much to fear.

His name is Psycha [The Clairvoyant Enigma], a sheep that utilizes psykinetic powers with the assist of a treasured keepsake amulet that had been passed down for generations unto him. I plan on sketching out a design for him soon- hopefully I won’t have too much trouble, I’ve drawn a few anthro characters and with enough references I should come up with a concept I’m proud of.

So why did I make this post? Well, because I actually made some mockup titles for him! Similar to how the base roster had pixelated titles for each rival and the DLC rivals had a more gritty, graffiti-esque typeface for their titles, I have created one of each for Psycha and I am quite proud of them!

I can’t wait to begin designing him!

This is an appreciation post for what I consider to be the greatest video game opening ever made, and you’ll understand exactly why once you see it. If you haven’t seen the intro for Rivals of Aether: Definitive Edition yet, please give it a watch, because... wow.

When I first got Rivals of Aether, I went into it thinking “Oh, I’ll like this game, it’s got nice sprite art and I like its musical style”, but when I saw this intro— which, on the Definitive Edition, is animated entirely in pixels— I was at an actual loss for words, having stayed on the title screen for like a solid minute. That was the exact moment I knew I was in love with the game.

To my understanding, certain characters were animated by different artists (And brought to fruition overall by Studio Yota), some of which have even posted WIPs of their respective segments on this site! This entire opening is just a complete rush from start to finish and it’s a genuine work of art. It really is a shame how little representation Rivals gets here on tumblr, though if this is any indication...

... then I shall be the one giving this game the attention it deserves! One reason I wanted to make this post was to also admire some of the still frames throughout the entire animation, so let’s take a look at a few!

I really like the style Kragg’s segment is animated in— it kind of gives me light Mega Man vibes (Especially with the way Kragg’s closed fist is drawn). I specifically remember the moment I saw Kragg in the opening and thought “I like that character. I want to main that guy” just because of how cool his few seconds were. He’s like Guts Man if he were a rhinoceros beetle!

Here’s Elliana! If there’s any point in this entire opening that really makes it feel like the opening to an anime, I feel like it’s Elliana’s segment. From the way she whips into frame to the brief glints of light her cannons give before firing a barrage of missiles, this is definitely one of my favorite parts of the opening. I love the way she’s drawn here, too!

Something funny to me about this whole intro is how everyone is animated in such an actiony, blink-and-you-miss-it style, but then you get to Maypul and Lily’s segment and she’s all like “huh?” when Sylvanos bolts behind her. She and Lily are especially cute in this still, Maypul is just so cool!

And now, the moment I’m sure some of you have been waiting for.

I legitimately have no clue how I saw this in the opening and didn’t fall for Clairen immediately. Literally every frame she has in this sequence is so stunning that I want them all professionally printed and hung up on my wall, though that’s just the simp in me talking. But, at the same time, just look at her! She’s gorgeous!! I can already feel the ‘P L E A S E KISS ME CLAIREN’ energy from this ask surging back to me the more I look at her! That’s about all I have to say! At some point, I’m hoping to post a montage of plays of mine I’ve saved (Kinda like this post but with more plays), but for the time being, I hope you’ve come to appreciate RoA’s intro as much as I do!
