Charleston - A High-Octane Performance - Strictly NRC Dancing

Author's Notes: I watched so many Charleston performances to write this and learned something. Also, the Scarabia student mentioned part of the way through this fic is techniqually Scarabia B-kun even though he is not labeled as such. The first aerial inspired by Sadie Robertson and Derek Hough’s Charleston on Season 19 of Dancing With the Stars. The flip from Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Brendan Charleston to 'Rock It For Me' on Series 11 of Strictly Come Dancing.The second aerial inspired by Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold’s redemption Charleston on Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars. Written to “Crazy Stupid Love” by Cheryl Cole. Just like the rest of this AU/series the reader is female for this fic. I hope you enjoy!

The urge to wiggle non-stop in this flapper dress was incredibly great, and I had a feeling that Crewel had suspected that would be the case when he designed it. I also had a sneaking feeling that Jack was well aware of my wishes too, considering the amused glances he kept casting my way.

But, it was all fine and good since the Charleston was one of the silliest yet most complicated dances I’d learned thus far. For the viewers, the dance looked incredibly fun and silly. For the dancers, it was still fun and silly, but also a very technical and high-energy dance.

I was not the slightest bit worried about Jack being able to keep up with the energy of the dance. The sporty first-year had both stamina and energy in spades, courtesy of his beastman heritage.  If anything, he would outpace me and leave me in the dust as he continued dancing on in an unplanned solo. 

I was worried about his ability to master the silly angle of the performance, though.

Jack was a fun guy, but he was also quite serious about making a good grade, and I was worried that he was going to let that get in the way of the general silliness of the dance.

But that proved to be an unfounded concern. He kept up with both the speed and the general ridiculousness of the performance with ease.

He stood next to me, grinning as we both matched one another’s kick steps that were inevitably followed by slipping across the floor on twisting feet as we both laughed. But that was the nature of the Charleston. It was almost impossible to not let loose and start laughing as one danced.

Of course, that only added to the exhausting nature of the dance. It was always harder to keep up with a high-energy dance when one added the exertion of laughing to the performance.

On the flipside, though, we had the added bonus of Jack’s considerable strength, which allowed us to pull off some of the more impressive lifts found in the Charleston. 

Most of the couples were unable to do such holds and lifts due to weight or awkward height differences. Ace and Jamil, for instance, had only succeeded in the very easiest of lifts, which played off the momentum of the dance. 

Even some of my other partners, such as one of the Scarabia students I’d performed with earlier, had been banned from using the higher-level lifts for fear of them dropping me. 

Jack, however, proved capable of even the most difficult of lifts, and his immense strength was the only reason I trusted him to do some of the moves we employed. 

Such as the one where I ended up with my ankles crossed and both of my legs hooked over one of his shoulders while he spun, swinging me around as I hung upside down.

He sat me down with ease, and I cartwheeled back upright. Feeling slightly flushed from hanging upside down, but still smiling as my gaze met his bright-eyed one while we danced side by side. 

Soon though, Jack had shifted around behind me and grabbed my arms as he rolled backwards onto the ground and pulled me with him. It was almost as if I were sitting down on his raised feet to let him flip me on over him where I could then use my momentum to pull him upright. 

As soon as my feet had hit the ground, I could hear cheering from the crowd. One of the more notable voices being that of Ruggie’s. 

Vargas had been right when he’d told us that our greatest boon would be Jack’s impressive strength paired with my absolute trust in him, which allowed us to pull off all sorts of tricks. 

While most of the performers would have one to two flips and/or holds, we were able to keep pulling such tricks off as we trotted around the dance floor to the bouncy beat.

In fact, we even managed to end our dance with yet another hold that involved him scooping me up bridal style before releasing my upper body so that I was once again upside down with my head zipping towards the ground as Jack freely swung me around his body. 

I wrapped around his back and grasped his legs while he caught me with his one free arm. He was slightly out of breath as he bent and pulled me the rest of the way around, setting me down in our ending position with me hugging his side.

He glanced over at me, breathing heavier than usual but still bright-eyed from our performance as our fellow students stood from their seats and erupted into applause, “You good?”

I nodded, no doubt flushed from exertion, but still alright and even feeling a little giggly despite the fact I was worn out from performing three Charlestons in a row. 

Crewel’s stamina potion had been a blessing today, and, to be honest, I was glad this was my last performance. As much fun as I’d had with Jack, I didn’t think I could handle another Charleston.

“Well done, Mr. Howl! I doubt many of the other students performing the Charleston could have pulled off quite so many aerials and swing holds as you did!” Vargas and Crowley were both over the moon and overly excited as they usually were after a more high-octane performance. 

But everyone knew the final word would fall to Sam, the usually nice store-owner who became incredibly hard to impress with any swing dance.

Jack’s tail, which had been previously wagging so fast it was a blur, lowered significantly as all eyes turned to the shopkeeper, who shrugged nonchalantly, “I would’ve liked to see a few more moves typical of the Charleston, such as a flapper walk. But it was still a solid performance, probably a B+. Good job.”

I laughed slightly, turning to face Jack and applauding along with the crowd as he did a first pump and turned, bright-eyed, to see both Vil and Leona congratulating him from their respective seats. 

It was almost cute how much his tail was wagging as he received approval from not only the judges, but also his two upperclassmen, whom he so respected.

But then Jack startled me by turning to face me and grabbing my hand in his, “This was your last performance, right?”

I nodded, before responding, still half-breathless from our dance, “Yeah, Crewel said that even with a stamina potion, I could only handle three Charleston's at most.”

He nodded, and I watched as his tail began the wary but hopeful wag that indicated he was fixing to say something else, and he did not disappoint, “Do you want to come sit with me and the guys to watch the rest of the performances?”

I felt a smile creep onto my face as I bobbed my head, “I’d love to! Just let me change out of this dress and I’ll be right over.”

The first-year straightened, his tail now wagging more openly as he responded, “Sure, I’ll wait for you. That way we can walk up to our seats together.”

I trotted off to the dressing area set up for me in the corner of the room, still smiling to myself as a thought hit me.

 It seemed like Jack had been making me grin all day.

Listen, HoM AU, flawless, but imagine this, Yuu doesn't like any of the main cast and is instead in love with a more side character like Ruggie or Najma, AND THEY LIKE THEM

Oh the chaos

First of all, I would just like to point out that Najma is a Queen and the Viper family genes are superior.

Second, good Lord, the chaos that would occur can written in history books. I have had the thought of what would happen if HoM found out that Yuu was going on a date (it's not even a date - they were just hanging out in the town square together) with Savanaclaw A-kun or Scarabia B-kun which would end with the main cast and the HoM being like "it's just a phase. it's just a phase. it's just a phase. we can talk to her about this."

(I always thought that Jack was twisted from the wolves from Jungle Book so I headcanon that Savanaclaw has both Lion King and Jungle Book characters which made me think of an OC that's twisted from Bagheera that Yuu is friends with)

Imagine if it was Ruggie, though. Jack, Leona and the Lion King cast are going to have mixed reactions. The hyenas are going to be cackling like mad at the disgruntled lions as they celebrate at Ruggie's new relationship because they really like that kid and consider him family.

Scar: Traitors

Shenzi: Takes one to know one

Simba, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, Zazu and Rafiki are concerned (well, not Rafiki). They really care about Yuu and they don't exactly see hyenas as the most trustworthy creatures (especially PTSD-Simba from Lion King 2) but Yuu seems happy and Ruggie clearly adores her so they'll keep quiet.

Timon: It just had to be hyena!

I feel like even though the Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, Lion King, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid and Hercules cast are rooting for the Dorm/Vice Dorm Leaders, they would be alright if Yuu got together with someone from their story's dorm. At least it shows she still has some form of taste (except Maleficent. For her it's either her grandson or nothing. She was so looking forward to planning Malleus and Yuu's wedding)

The rest of the club would be like "WHO THE HELL IS THIS?!" as if they didn't understand that a school can have more than like ten students.

At the end of the day though, they're happy if Yuu's happy. Just, expect lots of interrogations in the near future.

Double isekai au

Diasomnia, Ignihyde, Poemfiore and Scarabia ver.

Yep yep... It's not like I've explained 2 times with 2 different characters... :'3

But here we're gonna refine the wine a bit... :3

I will cover more rules, along with small lil details.

And also the reveal of 4 out of the 7 Yuus that are present in their own double Isekai au.

Also their relationships with the double isekaied twst Boi. :v

We are gonna tackle this in reverse dorm order, because why not? :3c

Diasomnia: Malleus and Yuu

Much like we all know, this double Isekai features a very dumb Malleus. Like he is academically smart, but at the same time his only functional social braincell is just all over the place. He has been infested with gen Z humor and since discovering his magic in twisted wonderland he thinks he's dollar store sailor moon.

His Yuu(which yeah, they're named Yuu) is filling the role of chaotic BFF. They also hype Malleus into all the dumb shit possible.

Unlike Malleus, Yuu is more socially capable, although a very messy simp. They would have the guts to propose right then and there for the Scarabia student B. And they don't even try to hide their simp agenda.

Another funny thing was: Malleus had blonde days. Days where he was just a bundle of joy that would skip around and pick flowers. It was absolutely embarrassing and Yuu would bring it up just to mess with him.

And another thing... Well... There is a reason Yuu has their hair covering half of their face. :v

Ignihyde: Ortho and Yuuki

Listen... I love this one in particular, mostly because of the Yuu in here(They are named Yuuki) and also the family dynamics.

Yuuki is very protective. Mostly to the point where Ortho finds it annoying. There is a lot of bickering on this theme, but it all dials back to them just sticking for one another. They are the middle children since Otto(the youngest sibling in the crevette household) came into the picture. Ortho tries to be less overprotective over the new sib, but at the same time, both he and yuuki have an agreement to beat up anyone who tries to harm the baby. There's also big sib Yulia, who goes to college aboard. She is a walking entity of sass. U-U.

It's mostly your average suburbs family.

One thing about Ortho's journey along Yuuki is that he journals things. (as a punishment at the start of the year) And he really doesn't believe the teach will buy his school year adventure. Doesn't help that probably he broke several international laws during that time. Just... Give him a passing mark... :'3

Another thing is that during their adventure, both Ortho and Yuuki undergo several changes.

And also one thing in here is that Ortho is alergic to pickles... So Yuuki pretty much uses it as an excuse to make 'he asked for no pickles' meme, with Ortho completely done and over with it.

Poemfiore: Vil and Kayuu

Yes, again the Isekai goes on at a young age. Truck-kun really has no patience. U-U

Vil in here gets his own slice of bullying pie, much like Ortho did. Mostly since he was looking feminine. Kayuu(Vil's Yuu) is the big sibling with only a year, but even if they are a boxing prodigy, they are a firm believer of peace and diplomacy, which really doesn't help Vil in any way.

Vil's double Isekai has Neige as the poemfiore dormleader. Vil grows in popularity among NRC during his adventures and this prompts Neige to step onto his game, as no one really imposed a challenge to him up until now.

Also Kayuu learns that sometimes it's OK to punch bitches. Vil drills in their head that they shouldn't be a carpet for people to walk on.

Nonetheless, their relationship is a bit stranded at the start, but with time, they figure it out and are happy siblings.

Scarabia: Jamil and Yuuana

This took place around the time Jamil got in his head about his role as a servant. Kalim was absolutely devastated to hear that Jamil dissappeared.

In here, Jamil has small snippets of his time back in twst before the Isekai, but tells no one. He had a good family and a younger sibling, Yuuana, who thinks their big bro is the best.

Yuuana is a hit shy, mostly due to the fact that she is mute, but Jamil learned sign for her sake and also got for her birthday a parrot, who was trained to speak certain basics when showed an equivalent in sign. Yuuana named the parrot Coco(from the coconut).

Thier Isekai adventure has Jamil quickly piecing things together. He figures out quickly what is his origins, but would rather keep the gig of 'oh I'm a magicless hooman isekaied in here with my lil sib and we want home'.

Thing is... Kalim didn't forget about Jamil either, he just cannot really figure out why the magicless boy looks so familiar.

Jack: A pickpocket!? Damn, one thing after another.

Jack: I think the voice came from the Sea Breeze Market. I gotta get over there, fast!

[Crane Port – Whistle Park]

Jack: Excuse me, I'm from the Port Fest executive committee! Is it true that there was a pickpocket!?

Male Attendee B: Yeah! And I caught him, all by myself.

Male Attendee B: I was going to bring him to headquarters, but then I learned the culprit was one of you committee guys. That's absolutely shameful, you know.

Jack: Eh, the culprit is a committee member…? It can't be…

Leona: Oh, it's you, Jack. So I hear one of our dorm mates cause a problem?

Jack: Leona-senpai!? I only just arrived, but if you're saying it's one of our dorm students, then that must mean…

Jack: Ruggie-senpai…

Jack: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING DURING PORT FEST OF ALL DAYS!?!

Jack: Setting aside whether or not he actually did it… Why did you think Ruggie-senpai was the pickpocket?

Male Attendee B: Right after he passed by me, I just happened to put my hand in my pocket, and my wallet was gone.

Ruggie: I'm just runnin' 'round this way and that for both my committee 'n food stand duties. That's it!

Ruggie: It's by chance I ran into this guy! Who'd even target someone who looks like they got no money in his wallet, anyway.

Jack: I can't figure it out just by listenin' to both sides...

Jack: Since we got consent, let me just check Ruggie-senpai's belongings for now.

Jack: Yeah, there's definitely no wallet here.

Ruggie: See, I told you～!

Male Attendee B: Humph, you're also as member of the executive committee, right? I can't trust you.

Male Attendee B: And that guy yawning over there seems to be your upperclassman… Maybe all three of you are in on this together!

Jack: You littleー You're going to suspect Leona-senpai too!?

Leona: Jack, don't snap back at him.

Jack: (There's no proof that Ruggie-senpai did it, but I can't prove that he didn't either.)

Male Attendee B: Ah, this is my wallet! I never even though that I could have lost it before this kid bumped into me and that it would be waiting for me here at the headquarters!

Jack: Finally, after all that fuss you kicked up... Ugh, what a frustrating event.

Male Attendee B: You said your name was Jack-kun, right? Thanks for finding my wallet. Now then, I'll take my leave…

Jack: Hey, you… Don'tcha think you're forgettin' something?

Male Attendee B: EEK!

Male Attendee B: I'm dreadfully sorry that I accused you of pickpocketing, and assumed all three of you were conspiring together!! I'm really really sorry!!

Leona: Humph.

Ruggie: Ugh, that was annoying. Maaaan, I'm sooo depressed that I was suspected like that～ That really hurt, maaan～!

Ruggie: It'd be suuuuper great if you could buy some waffles from our food stand as an apology～～～!

Male Customer B: F-Fine, I got it, I got it. Take me to your food stand, then.

Ruggie: Shishishi, yeah, you gotta give us at least that. You're gonna need to buy one to eat, one to bring home, and… oh yeah, some to give to your friends 'n family!

Jack: …Ruggie-senpai doesn't let any chance slip by, huh.

Leona: Sigh. He's been a whole mess of problems this time. I'm gonna put him to work real hard after Port Fest ends.

Leona: I'm outta here. Keep up the good work, I guess.

Jack: Yessir!

Restaurant Manager: Good job, Jack. That was a great success.

Jack: Yes, sir. I understand now why you said that I shouldn't need to force myself to be too friendly.

Jack: Both on stage, and otherwise… I need to make full use of the assets I do have.

Jack: I'll definitely give them a performance just as intense as today for the concert!

Just a post to celebrate Emma’s birthday and mine ! (28 October)

Emma Union birthday interview :

What did Rook gifted to Emma? : A cute dress. 

He says that she doesn't give a fuck about her appearance and it's pretty sad so he gifted her this dress to improve her natural beauty. 

She loved the dress even if it's isn't her type of clothes. 

Rook : “If you could pick any student from Night Raven College to be your sibling, who would you choose?” 

She picked Leona because she respects him and he seems to be her older brother figure and he's calm so yeah she likes him.

Rook : “If you were to join any dorm other than Ignihyde, which dorm would you choose?” 

At first she wanted to say Pomefiore because it's very pretty there but when she saw Rook's face she immediately changed for Diasomnia. 

She says that she couldn't be in Heartslabyul because of the many amount of students. 

Savanaclaw because they are pretty annoying. 

Octavinelle because she couldn't handle a job with clients. 

Scarabia because too hot. 

So she chose Diasomnia by eliminating the other dorms. 

Rook : And this was the final question fufufu! ~

Emma : Erm.. So.. I can go now?.. 

Rook : Non non ! You need to have this first~

Emma : My fate is here.. Noo.. 

Rook : Emma-chan, bon anniversaire ! ~

Broom Birthday interview :

Emma : H-hahh it's almost the time for.. 

??? : Excuse me. 

Jack : Good morning and happy birthday Emma-chan, I'm your presenter. 

Emma : T-thank you!.. Hmm well what.. A suprise.. If it's you.. It would be short? I guess?.. 

Jack : Short? I'll just say the questions if you worry about that. 

Emma : Hmm hmm then.. I-I'm ready! 

Jack : Let's start with the first question then. “If you could fly anywhere, where would you like to go?” Don't consider the magic or anything needed. 

Emma : Anywhere?.. Maybe.. Where there is hardly anyone, snow mountain maybe?.. 

Jack : Hmf snow mountain are really massive and good for exercise, I like that. 

Emma : Oh really?.. Well if it's the case it's another.. r-reason to pick that I guess.. 

Jack : Hm I wish you could travel here one day. 

Emma : Thanks.. Jack-kun.. I wish too. 

Jack : The next question is : “What's the thing that made you glad you could use magic?” 

Emma : Hmm well.. It's not an easy question.. 

Jack : Don't worry you have the time. 

Emma : Maybe I can say.. My wings?.. 

Jack : Your wings? 

Emma :.. Yeah!.. I can have them when.. I-I want and.. When I don't want it anymore.. Bam disappear!.. It's really useful.. To grab things, etc. 

Jack : Oh I didn't know that! Sounds really cool to have wings. Does it hurts or something? 

Emma :.. I wouldn't say no because s-sometime it hurts and.. I'm very sensitive to this part but.. It's not that heavy so-

Jack : Hmm I understand! I wish I could have wings to train them and be able to travel when I want. 

Emma : Fufufu a wolf with wings? Sounds fun. 

Jack :And now, the final question! “What would you like to do in the coming year?” 

Emma : Okay. THAT is a real hard question.. I've already d-done so many things.. In my life.. 

Jack : Sounds horrible and wonderful at the same time. 

Emma : Y-yeah I know!.. It's really good.. To have the t-time to do all the things.. You want. B-but when it's done.. It's done. But maybe.. This year I want to.. Have friends?. 

Jack : Friends? 

Emma : A-ah yeah you're my friend and all!.. I didn't want to harm you.. But you know.. In my life I-I didn't have many friends.. And when I see the o-others.. 

Jack : Oh you want to experiment a real school life, like hanging out with friends, pajama party, etc.?

Emma : Y-yeah! Sounds awful I'm sorry.. But I read –in books– that teenagers do always somethings like that.. A-and I think it would be.. Fun? Yea sorry.. 

Jack : Hmf you don't have to worry. You know, if you want to hangout. You can hangout with me and Epel-kun? We both are your friends no? So we're here! 

Emma : R-really?.. Thank you so much Jack-kun I'm glad!.. To h-have a friend like you.. 

Jack : The interview is over now. I need to give you the broom that has been especially prepared for you Emma-chan, accept it. 

Emma : Oh my- T-tha'ts wonderful! It' s literally a.. Broomquet!.. Blue flowers.. 

Jack : Hm yeah, blue flowers really suits you. Now please fly on the Birthday Road for all of us, for your celebration. Emma-chan, Happy Birthday! 

Emma : A-ahh don't say that!.. It's embarrassing.. But.. Thank you so much Jack-kun.. Well let's fly.. Wait where did my plush go?!

The Mostro Lounge was closed early, for a special event. While the rest of Night Raven College had planned for a Halloween night to remember for ages, a certain Octavinelle student had a different party in mind.

Octavinelle A-kun’s birthday was the last day in October, on Halloween. All his life, he was so used to his birthday being forgotten or not celebrated, even his own family more excited to celebrate Halloween than his birthday. He was quite used to it, and in fact, when he ended up blending more into the background at Night Raven College, he didn’t think anything of it, just another place where his birthday would be forgotten in lieu of the more fun holiday.

“Octa A-san,” Jade had said, handing him the key to the restaurant to lock up, his eyes glinting dangerously. “If we find the restaurant even slightly out of order when we return, I will not hesitate to open the airlock to the ocean outside and throw you out.”

Floyd had cackled quite menacingly beside Jade, the two of them towering over the small, green-haired student. “He’ll do it too, Konbu-chan. Jade is scary.”

“I-I won’t, I w-won’t do anything bad, Jade-senpai, Floyd-senpai! It’ll just be a couple of us… We-we won’t do anything to damage the restaurant-” Octa A-kun could feel his stomach tightening up and churning, all he wanted was for the Leech brothers to leave so he and his few friends could celebrate in peace.

“We shall see.” The more Jade’s smile widened even as his words stayed polite, the more Octa A-kun felt the pit in his stomach writhe and tremble under his gaze. He hesitantly took the keys from his manager and nodded.

Jade and Floyd departed the Lounge, decked out in their Halloween costumes for the school-wide party. Octa A-kun watched as they left, how Jade would say something to his brother, how Floyd would laugh, and how both would turn back to glance at Octa A-kun with a menacing, lopsided grin on both of their faces.

He breathed a sigh of relief once they were out of eyeshot, and he glanced around the Lounge, empty, and for the first time, his. He tried to push away the mental anguish of what it cost to get the whole Mostro Lounge to himself for these few hours. ‘There goes my free nights and weekends for the rest of the semester….’

He scrambled to put up the small decorations that he had brought, small streamers and balloons, just a little flair to show that yes, it was his birthday! Something in his 16 years he never really got to celebrate. He cleared down the Halloween decorations that had been prominent during the day. Especially during Halloween week, the Lounge had been decked out in so many pumpkins and skulls, black and orange and white streamers, confetti, and a darker lighting to set the mood.

Octa A-kun wanted to remove everything that reminded him of Halloween- This was his party, after all.

It didn’t take long for his friends to show up; a couple of his Octavinelle friends and a few classmates from the other dorms. They came bearing gifts, laughing and joking with their timid seaweed-haired friend.

“Man, I can’t believe you were able to get the Lounge to yourself!” Scarabia B-kun said, smacking his friend’s back and tossing a small, wrapped box at him. “Those Leeches scare the crap out of me, I wouldn’t have even been able to ask.”

“Y-yeah, it really did take a lot of mental preparation and stomach meds to even be able to ask them…” Octa A-kun stammered, suddenly laden with more gifts than he had ever seen for his own birthday.

“Well,” Pomefiore A-kun sniffed. “I just hope that when you all show up for my birthday, that Schoenheit-sama will be just as generous to let us use our dorm’s grand ballroom. It will be a sight to see!”

Scarab B-kun rolled his eyes at his friend, before giving a quick chuckle.

“Hey, hey, let’s finish setting up!” “Yeah, we gotta give you the birthday party you’ve never got to celebrate!” “C’mon, Kon-kun!”

The small group of friends quickly put up the rest of the party decorations, proudly looking back at their handiwork, before sliding into a booth where they had stacked all the presents. They laughed, joked, and wholesomely enjoyed each other’s company as Octa A-kun was able to forget that everyone else in the school was at a whole different party. It was the most blissful he had felt in his young life, to be surrounded by friends and celebrated.

The doors to the Mostro Lounge were kicked open suddenly, and the group of friends staggered back in shock. In stepped in Floyd, still in his mummy costume, a look of sheer joy on his face. Jade and Azul followed soon after, the latter closing the door carefully behind them.

“Konbu-chan~” Floyd trilled sliding into the booth the friends were all sitting at, his hand reaching over one of the other boys to ruffle Octa A-kun’s hair. “We came back to say Happy Birthday!”

“Wha-” He could feel his stomach starting to tense again at just his senpais’ presences. And yet- was that a present Jade was holding?

Jade chuckled as he placed a box with a nice bow on it on the table. Azul spoke, a pleasant smile on his face. “We just wished to give you our appreciation for all the work you put into the Lounge. I do hope you consider this a gift from the three of us with no strings attached.”

Octa A-kun gingerly grabbed the box and pulled off the bow and opened the lid. Inside were a new pair of black, shiny shoes, polished and ready to wear; almost identical to the ones he had been running around ragged in while working the Lounge.

“Ehe~ I suggested it, Konbu-chan!” Floyd said, proud of himself. “You can’t rush around the Lounge if your feet hurt!”

“Yes, and you’ll find you need this for when you’re working all your double shifts until the end of the semester.” Jade laughed politely into his hand. Azul and Floyd also found themselves chuckling along.

Octa A-kun felt his hand trembling as he looked at the shoebox. Of all the things he expected to come out of those three that he was so terrified of, this was definitely not it. He felt tears spring to his eyes, almost hidden by his seaweed-like hair dangling in his face.

“Th-thank you, Azul-senpai, Jade-senpai, Floyd-senpai….” He whispered into the box, awed at their generosity, despite the long work schedule it reminds him of.

His group of friends gave him a large group hug as the Octavinelle merfolk trio looked on.

“Happy Birthday, Octavinelle A-kun!”

“I kind of can’t help but admire them a bit. I-I’d never be able to stand up to Azul-senpai or the Leeches on my own. I-I don’t know how they did it, especially cuz they have no magic. Is... Is courage their magic, or something?”

“I-I don’t know them personally, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt and be nice to everyone... S-So! I did what I could to quietly help them from the sidelines. Taking a tray or two off the hands of the Heartslabyul guys to lighten their loads. Drying off their cat when he was being used as a dishrag, the poor thing... Because even... e-even a background character like me can do little things to make a difference...”

“Yup, yup! I know’m! They joined us for our Super ☆ Duper ☆ Scarabia Winter Break Boot Camp! That’s the name I’m stickin’ with, no exceptions or substitutions--that sounds a lot better than just any regular old ‘Boot Camp’, right?” Scarab B’s energy was effervescent, his dark eyes shining with interest.

“Jamil-senpai brought over some guests to help us with our training! I always get so excited when I meet new people, so i did my best to help’m feel right at home! There’s just something so magical about eating together, playing together, working together... I just like being around people!”

“Oh, wait...! Do you think maybe my hospitality came off as too strong? They just took their cat and ran off in the middle of the night one day. There’s such as thing as too much. Jamil-senpai told me so when I added too much pepper into that one curry dish... Anyway, I hope they visit again so I can serve them up something as an apology!”

“I know the one that matches your description,” Pome B sniffed, appearing slightly disinterested in the topic at hand. “Schoenheit-sama requested for myself, as well as a few of my peers, to test their mettle before they were allowed into our dormitory. I don’t have any personal quarrel with them, but...it is the way of world: only the strongest survive.”

“I also know them through Newspaper Club. They recently joined this year as a new photographer. Sometimes they are also tasked with interviewing certain students for a few articles we run in the paper. If anything, they are a little overeager to do their job.”

“They must really want to learn more about the students on campus, since they ask so many questions. Hmph. I don’t care what they do, as long as they don’t get in my way. They’re asking for a beating if they--oh, erm.” Pome B coughed into a fist. “... What I meant to say is, they should be careful where they tread. Night Raven College is teeming with ruffians.”

Playing Some More RPG...

Yeah, playing around the old program some more.

Learn something new. I finally found a way to make this feels like Twisted-Wonderland’s visual-novel-like system. Combining two scripts, one for the text box name and one for the character bust. Apparently the other of plugging-in matters... Well, I can probably tinker it more, especially for the mirroring, but I don’t think it won’t be that bothering.

Congratulation, Scarabia B-kun/Pomefiore B-kun(?)! You are now the bust-sets for MC/Yuu. The name here is ‘Eric’, but it’s because the default first character’s in RPG Maker is ‘Eric’. You can change the name and it will be featured. But I’ll get to scripting one I know the plot of the story or at least make the sprites.

So far, I only edit the busts Ace, Deuce, Yuu, Grim, and Trein. Maybe all of them will appear in the prologue. Maybe I can shrink them more if it feels to big. Haven’t make the sprites, or the characters’ classes, or the skills, or even the basic story!

And for those who plays Genshin Impact, this dialogue might sound familiar...

Again. No guarantee that I will actually make this. But it’s fun to code one in a while.

Laechesis Blog-isms - Part 1: the Hike

NOTE: This is based off of the Vargas training camp event that has recently come out. The event is changed to where it involves the main cast, plus the girl OCs me and my Sisters made up. This is going to be told in Camera form, with Laechesis recording (one of the 3 fates OCs my sister made up. Shoutout to my sis, @extremelywonderfulplaces!!)

Laechesis: *activates Camera* K, peeps, this is me, Laechesis and my classmates and I are on a Camping trip. We have a good half of the school with us, including dorm leaders, so this outta be fun!

--- outside in the courtyard. Many students are gathered, looking over their supplies. ---

Laechesis: Okay, so here we have our dorm members looking over our supplies. *shows Atropes, Clotho and Ortho looking over their stuff. Camera then zooms to Idia, who is sitting in the corner, playing his Nintendo switch.* Idia, what's your opinion on Camp so far?"

Idia: Camp is a pain in my ass and I wanna go back to the dorm.

Laechesis: Okaaaaaay, let's check on the girls. *camera turns to Atropes and Clotho* How is Camp so far?

Clotho: Camp hasn't even started yet, and I'm excited!!!

Atropes: Heck yeah! Plus, it's not just gonna be us!' *camera zooms towards other students, who are looking over their supplies.*

Laechesis: well then, let's go ask around and see what everyone else thinks of this camping trip *camera fizzes out and then shows Members of Savannaclaw, looking over their luggage*

Leona: Ugh... so noisy. I just wanna nap. To answer your question, Retna, no. I'm not.

Taai: Leona may not be excited, but we sure are.

Ruggie: heck yeah! The wilderness is an all you can eat buffet! Shishishishi~

Jack: I'm excited as well. I've been camping with my little siblings and it was fun. Plus, this is a chance for me to test my strength.

Laechesis: Great! Now that we have our answers from Savannaclaw, let's move to the members of Scarabia *Camera fizzes before it's on Kalim and the members of the Scarabia* Kalim! You excited for camp?

Kalim: You bet! This is my first time camping so this outta be fun. Jamil, Sahara, Shi and Amee are also pretty excited.

Jamil: Well, I normally don't like getting dragged around by Kalim, but I'll admit, I'm pretty excited to be on this trip.

Sahara: You kidding me?! I'm lucky Vil is bringing extra make-up! I won't last a day without that.

Laechesis: Speaking of Vil, let's go check on Pomefiore's members~ *camera fizzes til it's on Vil and the Members of Pomefiore.* Vil, how does it feel to be on a camping trip like this?

Vil: I'm not cut out for outdoor activities. Seeing as we will be gone for a week at least, I bought enough makeup to last me and my members. *gestures to the Backpack that he is carrying. It looks like one of those big hiking backpacks*

Laechesis: Understood, Scheonheit-san. What about you Annabelle-chan? *Camera turns to Annabelle*

Annabelle: I've never been camping before, but it sounds like fun! My Dad is too old to take us anywhere like that, so I think I missed out.

Laechesis: LMAO, YOU CALLED YOUR DAD O- *camera fizzes* Anyway, Epel, Rook, Danielle, what are your thoughts?

Rook: Je suis très excité! The thrill of the outdoors and the hunt are what excite me the most about this trip *shows his bow and arrows*

Epel: You're telling me! I hope I catch a bear while I'm out there! *pulls out his pocket knife and gives his signature "I'm deadly" smirk*

Danielle: Ew, the outdoors are disgusting.

Laechesis: I'm not surprised about Rook's reaction; Epel..... WTF? And Danielle, not surprised you're a prissy B*tch.

Danielle: HOW DAR- *Camera fizzes*

Laechesis: ANYWAY, Let's take a break from the Sumptuous Pomefiore and take a look at the deadliest dorm this side of NRC, Diasomnia! *Camera fizzes again* Alrighty, Malleus-san, what is your opinion on this trip?

Malleus: I'm rather excited. Like some of the students here, this will be my first time camping, so I can't wait to see what it's like.

Lilia: Plus, I packed us enough food to last us the week~ *shows off a container of the Oblivion he calls food*

Laechesis: Um, okay! Briar, Silver, Sebek, what about you three?

Sebek: I'm excited for whatever the young Master is excited fo-ow! *is elbowed in the gut by Briar*

Azul: Unfortunately, I'm not cut out for physical sports, so I'm hoping for a raise in my grade.

Laechesis: Yeah, you can barely fly, so it makes sense.

Riddle: Well, I've never been camping before, so this new experience should be fun and educational.

Laechesis: Oh believe me, Camping is loads of fun. Trey, Cater, Rosia, how about you guys? *Camera moves over to them*

Rosia: I think it will be a delightful time.

Cater: Yep! Plus, Trey-kun here will be making his famous Flapjacks! Hopefully we can find some berries. Plus, I'll be able to take lots of selfies~
