Salem, MA Travelogue: Day 1 in The Witch City
Salem, MA Travelogue: Day 1 in The Witch City
Fall is almost upon us (although its 90 degrees in Colorado this week), and I’m reminicing on last year’s October trip to Salem. I spent 2 days in early October in Salem, and everything I had heard about how busy and touristy Salem would be was true. But I went in knowing that there would be long lines and kitchy witchy stuff, so didn’t mind. Getting There: Salem and the road to get there is…

7 reasons why you should not miss Austin and Boston Ghost tour
7 reasons why you should not miss Austin and Boston Ghost tour
In our childhood, we used to hear many Ghost stories and spooky stories. And still, we love that stories. Mysterious noises that wake you up at night bother you ever in your childhood? Does the basement or attic give you a sinking feeling of dread?  Do afraid of the dark? And you still love adventure?
Then you must know the scariest trip of Austin and Boston Ghost Tour. You'll hear stories about the ghosts of the past and present, and you'll even get to see some of the places where they're said to haunt you.
You'll also get to see some of the most famous landmarks in both cities, which are said to be haunted by the ghosts of those who died there.
On the Austin ghost tour, you'll visit some of the most haunted places in the city, including the Driskill Hotel, Congress Avenue Bridge, and the State Capitol Building. You'll hear stories of ghost sightings, eerie experiences, and even tragic deaths that have occurred in these locations.
1 City of the Dead
Did you know that Austin was once known as the "City of the Dead"? This is because the city was built on top of an old cemetery. Over the years, many of the graves have been disturbed and the bodies exhumed, which is said to have created a hotbed for ghosts and other paranormal activity.
2 Driskill Hotel
The Driskill Hotel is one of the most historic and well-known hotels in Austin, Texas. The hotel was built in 1886 and has been visited by many famous guests over the years, including Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and George W. Bush. The Driskill is also said to be haunted by the ghost of a young girl named Emily, who died in the hotel in 1887.
The Congress Avenue Bridge is an iconic landmark in Austin, Texas. The bridge spans the Colorado River and is a popular spot for pedestrians and cyclists. The Congress Avenue Bridge is also home to the largest urban bat colony in North America. Every evening, hundreds of bats emerge from under the bridge to hunt for insects.
3 The Congress Avenue Bridge
The Congress Avenue Bridge is a must-see for any visitor to Austin. The bridge is a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture. The bats are a fascinating natural phenomenon. And the views of the city from the bridge are simply stunning.
4 The Texas State Capitol
The Texas State Capitol is one of the most iconic buildings in the state, and it’s also said to be one of the most haunted. The Capitol is home to several ghosts, and the Capitol ghost tour is the perfect way to learn about them. The tour starts in the basement, where you’ll learn about the Capitol’s most famous ghost, the Lady in Black. The Lady in Black is said to be the spirit of a woman who died in the Capitol fire of 1881. She’s often seen in the basement, and she’s said to be responsible for the lights flickering and the doors slamming shut. You’ll also hear about the ghost of Sam Houston, who is said to haunt the Senate chamber. Houston was a senator from Texas, and he’s said to haunt the chamber because he was never able to pass any of his bills.
5 Austin Haunted Pub Crawl Tour.
If you're looking for a spooky good time this Halloween, look no further than the Austin Haunted Pub Crawl Tour. This pub crawl takes you to some of the most haunted bars and pubs in Austin, all while providing you with plenty of drinks to keep you warm (and maybe even a little scared). One of the highlights of the pub crawl is the Driskill Hotel, which is said to be one of the most haunted places in all of Texas. The hotel is said to be home to the ghost of Colonel Jesse Driskill, who died in the hotel in 1887. Guests have reported seeing his ghost roaming the halls, and some say they've even felt his presence in their room. Other haunted hotspots on the pub crawl include the Pecan Street Brewing Company, which is said to be home to the ghost of a former employee, and the Little Woodrow's on Sixth Street, which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who died in a fire there in the 1800s. So whether you're looking for a spooky good time, or just a fun night out with friends, the Austin Haunted Pub Crawl Tour is sure to please.
The Boston Ghost Tour is one of the most popular and well-known ghost tours in the country. Many people come to Boston specifically to take this tour, and it is easy to see why. The tour takes you through some of the most haunted locations in the city, and the guides are experts on the history and legends of the ghosts that are said to inhabit these places.
6 Boston Ghost Tour Pub Crawl
The Boston Ghost Tour Pub Crawl is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. And for good reason! The tour takes you to some of the most haunted bars and pubs in Boston, all while providing plenty of opportunities to drink along the way. Of course, one of the best parts of the Boston Ghost Tour Pub Crawl is the opportunity to drink at some of the best bars in the city. You'll get to try local beers and spirits, and you may even find a new favorite drink along the way.But even if you're not a big drinker, the Boston Ghost Tour Pub Crawl is still a can't-miss experience.
In Boston, you'll visit the USS Constitution Museum which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a sailor who died in a shipwreck. You'll also visit the Boston Common, which is said to be haunted by the ghost of a woman who was hanged there.
Media liability insurance is a specialized type of liability insurance that protects the media professional and their employer against lawsuits, judgments, and settlements (some may also cover the media professional's heirs). It can cover a wide range of risks.
7 The Buried Ground
The Buried Ground is located in the heart of Boston's historic downtown. It is surrounded by modern buildings and busy streets, but it feels like a world away. The cemetery is small and intimate, and the headstones are close together. Many of the headstones are worn with age, and some are barely legible.
The Buried Ground is a fascinating place to explore. The headstones tell the stories of the people who lived and died in Boston centuries ago. The cemetery is also home to a number of rare and unusual graves, including the grave of Cotton Mather, one of the most influential ministers in colonial America.
The Austin and Boston Ghosttour is a great way to learn about the history of both cities, and the ghosts that are said to haunt them. If you're looking for a fun and spooky way to spend a few hours, then the  Nightly ghost tour is definitely for you.

psa to people planning on traveling to salem, ma this summer/fall for ~spooky~ tourism:
• the salem witch trials were about a bunch of innocents who were murdered due to hysteria in the 1600s, not “the witches you weren’t able to burn 🔮💋💀✨🧙”
•most of the people killed in the witch trials were actually hanged, not burned at the stake. (except giles corey, who was crushed by giant stones. he also trolled the executioners by basically telling them ‘is that all you got? throw another stone on me and MAYBE i’ll die. ((he did in fact die)))
•the Bewitched statue on washington st has absolutely NOTHING to do with salem. it’s literally only there because it depicts a witch. it’s just a way to further profit off the murders of people who were just tryna live. (someone threw red paint on it earlier this year and i for one think that was very sexy of whoever did it.)
•please be respectful to local businesses/residents. if you’re willing to learn about the actual crafts and practices of local witches, great! i absolutely encourage this 100%. but please remember to be respectful.
•if you wanna go souvenir crazy there is a tourist shop on every corner, go buckwild.
•please for the love of god dont ask restaurant workers what their “year round REAL job” is. you’re lookin’ at it. some of us dont leave just because all of you do. our lives are here, dont be a dick.
•watch Paranorman. seriously, do it. i’m pretty sure it’s based on salem and it perfectly captures the aura in the sense that the town in the movie exploits a very public murder of an innocent person (who was accused of being a witch) as a cash grab. thought i was signing up for a fun kids ghost movie and got slapped in the face with a very important reminder of what happened historically. (it also is a fun kids ghost movie tho)
that’s all i got right now but i just needed to write this out because while salem should be a fun place with a rich history, it’s easy to forget just how much blood was spilled in order for it to be deemed “Witch City.”

The Old Burying Point Cemetery of Salem
A ghost tour of Salem is not complete without a visit to the Old Burying Point Cemetery. This cemetery sits on a small plot of land sporadically dotted with worn, decrepit gravestones. It is actually the second oldest cemetery in the United States and because of the dark history linked to it is also thought to be one of its most haunted.
Salem is of course most famous for its history of the Witch Trials. The Old Burying Point Cemetery is linked to that history by holding some notable characters that influenced this notorious era. The cemetery holds the remains of the man known as the Hanging Judge, Jonathan Hawthorne. He is suspected of being responsible for one of the cemetery hauntings, showing up in unsuspecting tourist photographs.
The Old Burying Point of Salem is also thought to manifest many other paranormal events. Many people have reported hearing disembodied voices, sighting unexplained light anomalies and experiencing sudden temperature drops as they trudge through the dated gravestones.

31 Days of Halloween: Day 2, The White House, Washington D.C.
Continuing our journey through 31 days of Halloween, we move from the historic Salem Witch Trial Memorial to a location steeped in its own eerie tales and ghostly legends - The White House in Washington, D.C. Known as the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States, the White House holds a mysterious allure, with stories of paranormal activity that have captured the imaginations of believers and skeptics alike.
Historical Background
Constructed in 1792, the White House has witnessed momentous events in American history and has become a symbol of the nation's power and leadership. However, alongside its historical significance, the White House harbors a wealth of ghostly folklore that has been passed down through generations.
Ghostly Legends
One of the most famous ghostly legends associated with the White House is the presence of Abraham Lincoln's ghost. Numerous witnesses, including presidents, first ladies, and staff members, have reported seeing Lincoln's apparition. Lincoln's ghost is often described as a tall figure in a top hat and frock coat, quietly wandering the halls, especially in times of turmoil or national crisis.
Another ghostly presence is attributed to President Andrew Jackson. Witnesses claim to have heard his distinct laughter echoing through the corridors, and some have even reported the sensation of being pushed or brushed by an unseen force, believed to be Jackson's mischievous spirit.
Additionally, the ghost of Dolley Madison, wife of President James Madison, is said to have been spotted in the Rose Garden, where she once frequented during her time as First Lady. Her presence is often associated with the scent of lilacs, her favorite flower.
The Experience
Visiting the White House during Halloween allows one to embrace the ghostly atmosphere and delve into the intriguing history and legends that surround this iconic structure. As you explore the grand rooms and corridors, it's impossible not to feel a sense of awe and anticipation, wondering if you might catch a glimpse of one of these otherworldly inhabitants.
While public tours of the White House do not typically include stories of its haunted reputation, there is an air of mystery that hangs in the air, adding to the overall allure. Some visitors claim to sense a certain energy or feel a chill as they pass through certain chambers or staircases, making for a spine-tingling experience.
Conclusion
The White House, with its rich history and tales of ghostly encounters, adds an intriguing layer to our 31 days of Halloween. As we explore the supernatural legends tied to this iconic residence, we are reminded of the countless stories that have been woven into the fabric of our nation's capital.
Whether you believe in the paranormal or not, the ghostly tales associated with the White House spark curiosity and encourage us to reflect on the past. As we delve further into our month-long journey, let us embrace the Halloween spirit and continue to uncover the mysteries that lie within these haunted locations.

salem, do you believe in ghosts? do you think you've ever seen one?
“i fully believe in ghosts actually! my grandma is super into the paranormal and took me on one of those haunted tours at the lalaurie mansion in new orleans once. i didn’t actually see a ghost but i felt the presence of all these spirits and i had to sage myself afterwards it was really intense. i also have a theory that imaginary friends are just ghosts that are only visible to small children but that’s another conversation.”

You put a spell on me.
Seth Borden x fem! Reader smut.
Unedited.
**********************************************
The cold wind blew through Salem as the amber leaves mixed in with it's harsh force.
Harper walked through the Witches Nest Inn as she admired the old architecture that blended so well with the modern parts of the ancient in.
It hadn't been opened since 1895 yet it was barely noticeable as she explored.
She saw the spiders as they made homes in the corners and cracks as she felt the energy that radiated from every corner of the Inn.
It was well known by her friends and some of the public that she was related to a witch who died in the Salem witch trials which was most likely why Sam and Colby asked her to come along on another ghost hunt.
She had been in many videos but it was always with Seth and Josh.
They were her best friends.
Harper went around a corner before smiling as she saw Seth exploring.
"Hey" she said catching his attention.
"Hey.
I'm guessing you didn't want to go on the tour" he said as he walked to her.
"I used to live here" she said.
"Oh yes I remember you telling me that.
I've already been here for a video years ago so I thought I would explore" he said.
"Same.
This place is beautiful.
It makes me wish I still lived here" she said.
"Hey?
Wanna explore together?" he asked.
"Sure," she said with a smile on her face.
"Cool.
I already know a place but I was waiting so I didn't have to go down there alone" he said before taking her hand causing her heart to race.
There had always been tension between them.
She had liked him for a while but didn't know if he shared her feelings.
"Your hand is cold.
Are you ok?" she asked.
"Yeah.
This place is fucking awesome but very cold" he said.
They walked down to the basement together as they heard the tour in the distance.
"This reminds me of when we would go to abandoned houses together.
I forgot how fun this is" she said.
"You know we can do that again.
No cameras and just us in some awesome locations that wont end us in jail" he said.
She laughed before looking into his eyes "I would like that" she said.
"Cool.
Remind me to plan that once we get to our rooms" Seth said.
"My memory is the equivalent of a goldfish Seth" she said.
"Then I'll remind me" he said.
"Good idea" They walked further into the basement.
Harper looked around before gasoing as she tripped over a brick that was thrown at her.
"Woah" Seth said before catching her.
"You ok?" he asked.
"Yeah.
Something threw that brick right in front of me" she said.
They looked into each others eyes.
"You sure you're ok?" he asked softly.
She nodded.
"Good," he said as he kept his arms around her.
Seconds passed as he slowly leant in before freezing as Sam and Colby walked into the basement.
He looked down as she swallowed harshly as a perfect moment shattered in front of them.
"There they are.
Dude we've been looking all over for you" Sam said.
"We were exploring" Seth said.
"Cool well we were just talking about what were going to do tonight.
Obviously, we have a few days here so I was thinking we should just settle in tonight and pick things up tomorrow" Colby said.
"Ok.
I like that a bit better than starting the video right now" Harper said.
"It's settled then.
Also sadly because we waited too long we could only get two-rooms.
So it will be me and Colby in one and if you're okay with it you and Seth in the other" Sam said.
"That's fine" she said before looking at Seth.
"Yeah we'll do that" Seth said.
"Ok then good night.
Meet up in the kitchen tomorrow around twelve" Sam said before he and Colby walked back upstairs.
"We should head up to our room" Harper said.
"Or we could stay down here for a while" he said.
She looked into his eyes "I want to see our room first and then definitely" she said.
Butterflies filled his stomach as her heart pounded against her ribs.
Harper and Seth started to go up to there room ignoring that he just tried to kiss her.
She would have let him if Sam and Colby didn't interrupt them.
Minutes later they walked into there room.
Harper looked around before flopping on the bed.
"Wow" she said.
"You love this place dont you?" Seth asked.
"So much" she said before looking at him as he sat next to her.
"I have a feeling these few days are going to be a start of something" she said.
"Are your witchy senses tingiling?" Seth asked as he looked down causing there eyes to meet.
"I think so.
By the way I wanted to ask you something" she said.
"What?" he asked.
"Sometime during these few days, I want to find where my very great-grandmother is buried and I want you to join me.
It'll be like old times" she said.
"Cool.
Yeah I would love to" he said.
"Yay," she said.
Their eyes met as Harper heard someone watching TV next door.
"Still want to go to the basement?" she asked.
"Maybe not right this second" he said.
She smiled before placing her hand on the side of his face causing the coldness of her rings to give him chills.
He placed his hand on hers as he blushed.
He laced there fingers before looking at her and her lips.
Harper watched him as he leaned in softly so there was time for her to push him away not like she wanted to.
Suddenly there lips met as he kissed her.
Harper gasped before melting into the kiss.
It was heavenly.
She never wanted it to stop.
She kissed back allowing the kiss to become more heated.
Harper wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him down with her.
She tangled her fingers in his long hair as he moved so he was straddiling her.
Both of his hands were beside her head as she broke the kiss.
She looked at him "You sure you want to do this?" he asked.
She nodded.
"I need a verbal response," he said.
"Yes" she said.
"You sure?" he asked.
"Yes.
I've wanted this for so long" she said.
"Me too" he said before kissing her again as their bodies moved in sync.
She lifted up his baggy sweater causing her nails to scratch him lightly causing a whimper to slip from his lips.
He broke from her before taking off his sweater revealing his thin but slightly toned body.
Harper looked at him with hearts in her eyes as he started to kiss her neck.
She gasped before throwing her head back softly as he sucked on that one spot.
"Seth," she said causing him to grow harder in his ripped jeans.
He slipped his hands under her shirt before squeezing her breasts, feeling the black lacey bra.
Her body was so warm and perfect as they both grew more needy.
Seth looked at her before taking off her long sleeve black shirt as she took off his belt.
"You're driving me crazy" he said.
She unbuttoned his jeans as he did the same to her black skinny jeans.
"Please" She didn't know what she was begging for but was desperate for something other then soft touches.
"What to you need sweetheart?
Tell me" he said as he kissed her temple.
"I need you to touch me" she said.
He nodded before taking off her jeans revealing her black thong.
"Fuck" he groaned as he took off his jeans before tossing them somewhere in the room.
"Come here" he said before getting on top of her.
He kissed everywhere he could causing her to laugh.
He then took off her bra releasing her breasts.
Seth looked at her for any inch of uncomfort before taking one of her nipples in his mouth causing her to moan as she grabbed the old sheets.
He then switched the the other one as she arched her back.
"Sensitive?" he said out of breath.
"Yeah" she moaned.
He sucked on her nipple as he slowly started to grind against her causing him to moan against her breast.
He took off her thong before looking at it.
"Dirty girl," he said before kissing her as he threw the thong against the wall.
Harper slipped her hand down there bodies as she let out moans from the feeling of his dick rubbing against her.
She palmed him causing him to groan.
She took his dick out of his boxers before giving it a few strokes.
"Don't tease.
You have no idea how much I want you" he said.
"Put it in" she said.
"Really?" he asked.
"Please Seth.
I need it.
I need you" she said.
That was enough to leave him drunk with lust as she rubbed his tip against her clit causing her to moan.
He sat up as he lined himself up to her entrance as he watched her arousal coat his tip causing him to throb.
He slowly pushed in causing her to gasp before letting out a loud moan that was mixed with the slight pain.
He continued to slowly slip inside her as he felt her warm walls squeeze and flutter around him.
He groaned before watching her take all off him.
"Good girl.
Oh fuck" he said.
She kissed him as she pulled on his hair slightly as her body got used to having him inside her.
"Move.
Please move baby" she said before moaning as he hit her cervix.
Seth pulled out slowly before rolling his hips allowing his dick to hit all the right places inside her.
Harper couldn't control her moans as he hit places inside had that she didn't know existed.
It was amazing.
It was like ecstasy.
"I'm positive that your fuck a witch" he said as her walls squeezed him perfectly.
He knew he wouldn't last long but wanted to make her cum at least once before he thought about himself.
"Why?" she said before moaning.
"Because you put a....spell....on me" he said before groaning.
She wrapped her arms around him as he started to speed up.
Sweat began to cover their bodies as Harper's moans got louder as she stuffed her face into the crook of his neck.
"More" she moaned before biting his ear lobe causing him to throb inside her.
He slid his hand down to her glistening clit before rubbing small circles on the bundle of nerves.
She screamed out as the pleasure began to overwhelm her.
Her legs began to tremble as she git closer to her release.
Suddenly he hit the spot that made her see stars.
She let out a scream like moan "Right there.
Fuck it's so good baby" she said.
He continued hitting that one spot as she bit his shoulder as she clung to him.
"Gonna cum" she said as she struggled to get anything but moans out.
"Me too" he said before moaning.
Harper threw her head back before screaming as her release washed over her leaving her brain dead.
Seth grunted and whined as his thrusts became sloppy before moaning as he held her hips in place as he shot his cum deep inside her.
He panted before collapsing beside her.
Harper could feel his cum rushing out of her as he sat up.
"Where are you going?" she said thinking he was going to leave.
"To the bathroom to grab a wash cloth so I can clean you up.
I'll be back in a second" he said before walking to the bathroom.
She smiled as she realised that she wouldn't have to hide her feelings for him anymore.
He came back out with a fresh pair of boxers on and a damp washcloth.
He sat next to her and began to clean her up as she looked at him.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"I like you.
I've liked you for so long and I feel like I can finally admit it" she said.
He smiled "I feel the same.
I honestly thought you weren't interested until now" he said.
She let out a soft hiss from the over-stimulation as he tried his best to be careful.
"Sorry" he said.
"It's ok" she said.
He then put the washcloth in the laundry basket before coming back to the bed.
Harper got dressed in one of Seth's shirts as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Did you enjoy everything?" he asked.
"It was the most incredible thing I've ever done in my entire life" she said.
He kissed her shoulder before leading her to the bed.
"Lay down" he said.
She laid on the bed before laughing as Seth tucked her in.
He smiled before kissing her.
Harper looked into his eyes before laughing as he rushed to get into bed with her.
"You're too adorable" she said as he laid beside her.
She moved so she was lying on his chest.
"What does this mean?
Are we dating now?" she asked.
"Yeah.
I mean what we did wasn't just a hookup to me" he said.
"Me neither" she said.
"Tomorrow is going to be interesting" he said.
"They don't need to know what we did.
This is just for us to know" she said before placing a kiss on his chest.

INSTAGRAM: catlandbooks Throughout Africa and beyond in the diaspora caused by the slave trade, the divine feminine was revered in the forms of goddesses like the ancient Nana Buluku, water spirits like Yemaya, Oshun, and Mami Wata, and the warrior Oya. The power of these goddesses and spirit beings has taken root in the West. New Orleans, for example, is the home of Marie Laveau, who used her magical powers to become the “Voodoo Queen” of New Orleans. Author Lilith Dorsey shows us in Orishas, Goddesses, and Voodoo Queens how to celebrate and cultivate the traits of these goddesses, drawing upon their strengths to empower your own life. In addition to offering a guided tour of the key goddesses of the African religious traditions, the book offers magical spells, rituals, potions, astrological correspondences, sacred offerings, and much more to help guide you on your own transformational journey. —— New Orleans has long been America’s most magical city, inhabited by a fascinating visible and invisible world, full of mysteries, known for its decadence and haunted by its spirits. If Salem, Massachusetts, is famous for its persecution of witches, New Orleans is celebrated for its embrace of the magical, mystical, and paranormal. New Orleans is acclaimed for its witches, ghosts, and vampires. Because of its unique history, New Orleans is the historical stronghold of traditional African religions and spirituality in the US. No other city worldwide is as associated with Vodou as New Orleans. There is a mysterious spiritual underbelly hiding in plain sight in New Orleans, and in this book Alvarado shows us where it is and who the characters are. She tells where they come from and how they persist and manifest today. Witch Queens, Voodoo Spirits, and Hoodoo Saints shines a light on notable spirits and folk saints such as Papa Legba, Annie Christmas, Black Hawk, African-American culture hero Jean St. Malo, St. Expedite, plague saint Roch, and, of course, the mother and father of New Orleans Voudou, Marie Laveau and Doctor John Montenée.

One of the most sought-after haunted places in Salem is the Witch House which draws in hordes of tourists at night due to its intriguing backstory. The witch house belongs to or rather belonged to Jonathan Corwin. Yes, you heard it right the infamous judge who presided over the witch trials.
Moreover, the Witch House is also famous because it is the only building standing to date that has a direct connection with the trials. But the underlying reason behind the Witch House being one of the major tourist attractions in Salem is because even today people have experienced paranormal activities when visiting the Witch House.
Most inhabitants and tourists claim that the Witch House is haunted by the spirits of people who were wrongly sentenced for practicing sorcery. Even some people claim that they have seen the spirit of Corwin in the Witch House to date which makes it a must-visit place at night when exploring Salem.
Burying Point Cemetery
The Burying Point Cemetery was established in 1637 and is the oldest cemetery in Salem and it is open to visitors who can explore the various cemeteries and ancient graves in the place. Now, if you are interested in learning the history of the place, this is the perfect place to start with in Salem.
Besides that, there are many famous persons belonging to that era like John Hathorne & Jonathon Corwin who have been buried in this Burying Point Cemetery. Most people visiting the Burning Point Cemetery have reported unnatural happenings and the cemetery is haunted by many spirits.
Well, the only way to find out the truth is by visiting the cemetery after light hours and there are also many tour operators who provide nighttime tours to the Burying Point Cemetery. Besides that, the cemetery also gives you a glimpse of Salem’s colonial history.
Hawthorne Hotel
Now, the list of haunted hotels in Salem is long but there are some hotels that feature at the top of the list when it comes to haunted places in Salem. The Hawthorne Hotel was constructed in 1925 and is considered one of the most iconic landmarks in the city.
The hotel is also considered an architectural marvel because it reflects the colonial era and also because of its spooky status. The guests and staff staying and working in the hotel respectively have often reported hearing unusual sounds like voices and footsteps in the corridors and outside their room.
In fact, there are also people who have reported weird functioning of the lights like the lights turning on and off automatically. Now, people visit the hotel because rather than discouraging people, the hotel authorities encourage tourists to stay in their hotel & especially if you want to experience paranormal activity then opt for the 6th floor.
Salem Jail
The list of haunted places to explore at night in Salem is going to stay incomplete if the name of Salem Jail is not included in the list. The history of Salem Jail is tied to the famous witch trials as the people accused of witchcraft during that time were confined to these prisons during the trial period.
Many prisoners who were kept here during the trial phase died in these cells because of unhygienic conditions and the biting cold.
Although the old jail doesn’t exist over here anymore still visitors are drawn to this particular place because of the paranormal happenings like the feeling of sudden chill in certain spots, the sound of a woman weeping, and people reporting seeing shadows. Well, all these happenings make it an interesting place to explore during your night ghost tour.
Finally
The above-discussed factors are some of the most haunted places in Salem that are thronged by visitors from across the globe visiting Salem for ghost tours. If you are planning a trip to Salem then make it a point to explore these haunted places to make your tour the most memorable one.

👀 + do you have a favorite ghost story or piece of salem lore from your tour-guide days?
"I do. The best one.
Alright, so there is this famous haunted hotel in the smack middle of downtown Salem, and it cost loads of money to book a room around October. There is thought to be a ghost. The ghost? Sheriff Corwin, a man who rose through the ranks because of nepotism.
So what happened is, this guy named Phillip English, he was a wealthy businessman who was accused of witchcraft, because what else do you do when you're jealous of someone else's riches? Accuse them, get them hanged, steal their stuff. If you read up you learn a lot of accusations were done out of petty jealousy. Example. Bridget Bishop... and Phillip English.
He fled town to escape execution until the mass hysteria died down, and returned to find his estate had been pillaged. He chose to sue Sheriff Corwin for not upholding the law and protecting his estate and seizing the remaining goods.
Corwin did face jailtime until family paid for his bail, and he died of a sudden, unexpected heart attack, believed to be Giles Corey's curse.
Who is Giles Corey? The man Corwin pressed to death during the witch trials. So now, that mixed with the theft of his body during Corwin's funeral, and Phillip English dragging his body up the street basically screaming 'Where's my money!' and demanding its return.
When the body was recovered, the family buried Corwin in the basement of the house, and that house is — you guessed it. The location of the hotel.
Of course his body was later moved and buried in a cemetery, the court eventually awarded English £200 in damages, and that money was used to erect the first Anglican church in Salem, and it was a big middle finger to the Puritan colony. That's a fun fact there, and the church even looks like a middle finger to the city. Google it when you can. Saint Peter's Episcopal Church. It's great.
Tumblr media
The ghost part? So people stay in that hotel and they swear they hear Corwin wandering the halls, pushing open doors, knocking things off walls… I've never stayed there, but the tourists? Oh, they love telling me their experiences."
