When I’m in Brooklyn, I turn to Syrian Jewish cooking from my guy’s Syrian Italian family. I love making their traditional favorites: yebra — stuffed grape leaves draped in a sweet-tart tamarind sauce, sambousek stuffed with muenster cheese and dotted with sesame seeds, and these keftes. When I was introduced to them nine years ago, they were unlike anything I’d ever had.
The keftes are seasoned with baharat or allspice and Aleppo pepper. While cooking, they plump up ever so slightly, like a dumpling, in a rich sauce of tamarind, tomato paste, fresh lemon juice, and spices. These sweet and tangy meatballs are served at almost every holiday table. This recipe is designed to feed a crowd, but can also be cut in half for a smaller portion.
Note: There are variations of keftes throughout the Middle East. Use more or less Aleppo pepper according to your spice tolerance. The amount of tamarind concentrate, lemon juice, and tomato paste varies from one family to the next.  I recommend tasting the sauce as you go along the first time you make these.

In recent times, Middle Eastern breakfast fare has experienced a surge in popularity, carving out a special niche in Sydney's breakfast menus. Join us on a delectable voyage through some of the beloved morning dishes from this culturally diverse region available for your enjoyment in this vibrant Australian city.
Manousheh: An adored Lebanese classic, manousheh comprises a flatbread adorned with an assortment of toppings like za'atar (a medley of herbs and spices), cheese, or minced meat. It is typically folded and relished as a portable morning treat.
Labneh: Labneh, a dense and creamy yoghourt cheese, is commonly presented at breakfast, complemented by a drizzle of olive oil, a sprinkling of za'atar, and fresh pita bread. This option is both light and invigorating.
Moutabal (Baba Ganoush): Crafted from roasted eggplants, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil, this smoky eggplant dip is savoured with pita bread or serves as a side dish for a heartier morning repast.
Sambousek: These savoury pastries are often filled with minced meat, cheese, or spinach, deep-fried to a golden crisp, providing a scrumptious, hand-held breakfast alternative.

Buy Lebanese Spices At Best Price | Zeed Pantry
Rob Shalhoub and Sami Fuleihan met in 2019 while volunteering at a Los Angeles charity event. The guys quickly became close friends because they shared a love of Lebanese food and wine.
Sami invited Rob to taste his family’s traditional za’atar mix after receiving a package from Lebanon a few weeks later. Rob’s first inquiry was, “How much would it cost to bring more of this za’atar to Los Angeles?” due to the obvious quality and freshness. Naturally, one inquiry led to another, and the concept of ZEED soon emerged.
Sami and Rob are proud to continue their families’ agricultural and artisanal craft traditions, and ZEED is a modern interpretation of ancient Lebanese customs. Sami’s family has been producing cold-pressed olive oil and organic farming for generations in Baasir. Rob’s ancestors made traditional olive oil soap in Douma. As a result, we have decided to use an emblem that represents our roots and leaves, our past and future, as ZEED’s symbol.
The first thing that comes to mind when someone tries a Lebanese dish for the first time is, “This food tastes amazing!” Moreover, this observation is accurate! In addition to the traditional spices like salt, pepper, oregano, garlic, and so on, Lebanese cuisine also uses some unique Buy Lebanese Spices that give each dish its flavor:
A mixture of marjoram, thyme, oregano, and lightly toasted sesame seeds is called za’atar. It can be used on pita bread, in an olive salad with walnuts, in a sambousek with cheese, and because we love it so much, we made a special salad called Four Seasons with Za’atar. However, chicken with Za’atar is still the star of the menu, and it will please everyone’s taste buds.
Cardamom has a distinct flavor that is spicy-sweet with a hint of flavor. It is typically used to spice sweets, coffee, tea, and other beverages due to its aphrodisiac properties. We came up with a chicken dish by using our imaginations: chicken with cardamom, which has a distinct flavor and taste.
Sumac is a sour condiment that can be sprinkled all over salads, fatoush, tabbule, and even meat to soften its strong flavor.
Dried green mint is widely used in our kitchen, in Lebanoni lemonade, and as a flavouring for salads. Mint is well-known for its health benefits..
Black pepper, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, ginger, and fenugreek are the seven spices that make up the Lebanese seven spices. They give the food a kick of flavor. They are utilized to flavor various meats and in certain dressings.

My birthday was not over yet. 😆 See, after celebrating on the boat, I decided to have dinner with some of my new friends at: 🥘 Maqam Al Sultan restaurant (@maqamalsultan ) The food was delicious! But the highlight for me was the belly dancing. I’ve always wanted to be a belly dancer 😆. The second image is a picture of some of the starters we had : 1️⃣ Sambousek Lahme : Lebanese pastries 🥮, filled with sautéed minced lamb, beef, and onions 🧅. 2️⃣ Muhammara : Grilled sweet red pepper 🌶 , crushed walnuts, olive oil, paprika, and Lebanese herbs 🌿 ……………………………. After dinner, my friends then took me to: 🍸 Joel (@joel_drinkery ) A fabulous bar that is decorated in a way that takes you back to the roaring 1920’s. Their drinks are exceptional and from my understanding they even have live jazz music on certain nights. ………………………. Even though I went to Cyprus to spend my birthday solo, I was blessed to have made great new friends all throughout this trip. They really came through to help me celebrate this past birthday!! Many thanks to all of you!! 💕🎉 #beyondeden🌺 . . . . . #Cyprus #cyprustourism #birthday #larnaca #cyprusonlens #larnaka #cyprus❤️ #larnaca_city #bookCyprus #visitcyprusplaces #visitcyprus #cyprusadventures #heartcyprus #explorecyprus #thisiscyprus #cyprusonlens #restaurant #bar #livetravelchannel #tasteintravel #travelogue #worldplaces #worldcaptures #igersworldwide #wanderfolk #aroundtheworld #lovetravel #dametraveller #cocoatravelersintl (at Joel Drinkery) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cjn-y9dONf1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
