Ukraine Destroys Russia’s Brand-New $65 Million Warship Sergei Kotov
Ukraine has destroyed the newest patrol ship of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, the $65 million Sergei Kotov, and left pro-Kremlin war reporters sulking.
“As a result of a strike by Magura V5 maritime drones, the Russian Project 22160 ship Sergei Kotov received damage to the stern, starboard and left sides,” Ukrainian military intelligence said in a statement.
“The fewer such ships, the fewer anti-aircraft missile systems will be deployed on them, meaning more opportunities for Ukrainian security and defense forces,” spokesman Andriy Yusov told local media, adding that more than 10 ambulances were spotted rushing to help the evacuated crew members. At least seven crew members were killed, Ukrainian authorities said.
Audio of what Ukraine described as an intercepted radio communication also appeared to capture a Russian commander reporting on the “tragic event” and destruction of the ship, lamenting that a helicopter had also been obliterated in the nighttime attack near the Kerch Strait.
The 308-foot, 1,700-ton ship entered the Black Sea Fleet in July 2022.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has yet to comment on the incident, though pro-Kremlin military bloggers begrudgingly admitted that Ukraine had pulled off the attack.
“If it continues like this, the Black Sea Fleet will have only catamarans and rubber banana boats for vacationers. It’s fucked,” wrote one popular pro-war Telegram channel.
The Sergei Kotov had been targeted in three previous attacks by Ukrainian forces before finally being taken out this time around. Noting that Russia had plenty of defenses in place to protect the ship, pro-war propagandist Alexander Kots said that “unfortunately, the enemy is also evolving.”
“The crew fought heroically until the end. … But this time it is a story without a happy ending,” he wrote on social media.
“The ship ‘Sergei Kotov’ sunk,” wrote former Vladimir Putin adviser Sergei Markov, calling it part of a “new type of war” in which “what matters most are the multitude of drones, space reconnaissance, and electronic warfare.”
“This is where we need to overtake the West,” he said.

🇬🇪Georgia 🇺🇦
Near the Georgia border crossing into russia, protesters are playing the Ukrainian national anthem and trolling the russians who are leaving.
‘In surveys, most of you support the war. So why now are you leaving?’ reads the sign carried by the man draped in the Ukraine flag.

30 meter long flag I helped hold at a demonstration today
Over the last month the only people who I saw share posts about the russian invasion of Ukraine were actual ukrainans. And I know it's somewhat hypocritical of me to say this, because I barely posted about the war myself in these last few months. Even though I continued to go to demonstrations irl, I am used to using Tumblr as a platform for escapism. But we need to talk more about it. Because fading out of the public consciousness and being forgot is how russia was able to continue hurting and tricking Ukraine through centuries. And we must not let the murder, rape and torture of countless Ukrainians be forgotten. Even if the war ends and putin will be defeated it won't be the end, because there will still be many russians that support him. Many people (although they really don't deserve to be called that ) who continue to live in the dirt with their only life motivation being the feeling of being a part of an empire. And I assure you, there are many such people in russia, which you can see on their side of the internet. They will wait and elect another dictator, continuing the harm russia is doing to other countries. We must understand that and stop them. And the only way do this is to remember.
Because of that I am you a couple of videos made by ukrainians that are in some way relevant to what is happening right now and have English subtitles.
Debunking russian propaganda about the war in donbas
Repressions of the Ukrainian language by russia
The history of Ukraine in 10 minutes
"good russians"
The history of Mariupol
Russia's victory frenzy
You are free to watch them whenever you like, my only request is that you watch at least some of them to remind yourself of Ukraine.

Daily Wrap Up June 30, 2022
Under the cut: Russian troops have left Snake Island (of “Russian warship go fuck yourself” fame, but Ukraine and Russia disagree about why they left; Ukraine has severed diplomatic relations with Syria after Syria recognized the independence of the pro-Russia separatist-controlled Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic; Britain will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine; Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is working on finalizing a deal to provide Ukraine with 39 armoured combat support vehicles.
(Short one tonight, I had a busy day, but I got the highlights <3)
“Russian troops have left Snake Island in the Black Sea, the Ukrainian Armed Forces said Thursday, after they carried out what they said was a "successful" operation.
The small but strategic territory was the scene of one of the opening salvos of the war in Ukraine, with demands from a Russian warship calling for the Ukrainian defenders to surrender, who boldly replied with "Russian warship, go f*** yourself."
Known as Zmiinyi Ostriv in Ukrainian, Snake Island lies around 30 miles (48 kilometers) off the coast of Ukraine and is close to the sea lanes leading to the Bosphorus and Mediterranean.
Moscow had never laid claim to Snake Island before this year, and it's a long way from any part of the Russian mainland. It's more than 180 miles from Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, and so there is no geographical or historical basis for Russia to claim it now.
On Monday, the Ukrainian military said it hit a second missile system on the island, as well as multiple Russian personnel in their efforts to keep them at bay. In a short post on Telegram on Thursday the Operation Command South of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said that "the enemy hastily evacuated the remnants of the garrison in two speedboats and probably left the island."
Satellite images of the island taken on Thursday by Maxar Technologies showed that Russian military forces have left the island.
However, Russia gave a slightly different narrative of the events on the island. Russian army spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing that its forces left the island "as a gesture of goodwill."
He added that "the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation finished fulfilling the assigned tasks in Snake Island and withdrew the garrison that had been operating there."
Konashenkov intimated that the removal of Russian troops should allow an easing for the passage of grain, "this solution will prevent Kyiv from speculating on an impending grocery crisis citing the inability to export grain due to total control of the northwestern part of the Black Sea by Russia."”

While the Russian forces have withdrawn from Snake Island in the Black Sea, it may be “too early” for Ukraine to establish an outpost there, said the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Military’s Southern Command, Natalia Humenyuk.
Humenyuk reported the island remains engulfed in heavy smoke as explosions continue. Although the Ukrainian military saw Russian troops evacuate using speedboats, Humenyuk said investigation needs to take place into possible “diversion tools left behind” before claiming back the island.
“Our forces haven’t landed on the island yet,” she added clarifying it is not clear if Russian troops withdrew completely. “We cannot state that they all withdrew. But we hope that they had enough sense to do that." Humenyuk suggested the Russian military set anti-air missile systems and radar station on fire “to cover their tracks.”
“As soon as they understood all these systems were being targeted by us effectively and could not serve them anymore, they realized they had to fold their outpost and get out," she added. “We have to monitor their behavior in terms of their ship groupings and the use of other forces. It is too early for us to form an outpost on the Snake island. We have to finish the investigation into the result of the military operation."
Russian military command justified their withdrawal from the island on Thursday “as a gesture of goodwill.”

“Ukraine announced Thursday that it has severed diplomatic relations with Syria after Damascus on Wednesday recognized the independence of the pro-Russia separatist-controlled Donetsk People’s Republic and Luhansk People’s Republic.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine strongly condemns the decision of the Syrian Arab Republic to recognize the so-called 'independence' of the temporarily occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
“We consider this decision to be an unfriendly act against Ukraine, an encroachment on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, and a gross violation of Ukrainian law, the UN Charter, and the fundamental norms and principles of international law," it added. Syria is the only country aside from Russia to formally recognize the independence of the breakaway regions.
“In response to this unfriendly act, Ukraine declares the severance of diplomatic relations with Syria without the severance of consular relations, in accordance with Article 2 of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations done in Vienna on 24 April 1963,” Ukraine's foreign ministry also said, adding that it will impose a trade embargo, as well as other sanctions, on Syria.”-via CNN

“Britain will provide another 1 billion pounds ($1.2 billion) of military support to Ukraine, the British government said on Wednesday, as NATO branded Russia the biggest "direct threat" to Western security.
The funding will go towards boosting Ukraine's defence capabilities, including air defence systems, uncrewed aerial vehicles, new electronic warfare equipment and thousands of pieces of equipment for Ukrainian soldiers.”-via Reuters

“At the conclusion of the NATO leaders summit in Madrid, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that Canada is working on finalizing a deal to provide Ukraine with 39 armoured combat support vehicles (ACSVs). They had been destined for the Canadian Army and were in the process of being delivered, but instead will be diverted.
"The light armoured vehicles we will be sending over will be extremely effective," Trudeau told reporters as the summit ended. "We're just glad to help and we're going to continue to look and respond to things that they need."”-via CBC

hey, hold on...so, according to Russians there was a fire at Russian warship "Moskva".
Russian Navy tried to tow the slightly damaged "Moskva" to the port. But because of strong storm at the sea, Moskva warship heeled and sank.
That's why now Russia wants to declare war on Ukraine, bomb whole Kyiv (including the governal part) and destroy Ukrainian's railways.
Oh man, their Ministry of Propaganda is falling apart.

The moskva missile cruiser is a flagship and pride of the russians.First it eventually did go fuck itself, and then in April, two Ukrainian Neptune missiles sent the ship underwater. As it turned out, the nature itself helped to sink the vessel — a radar had identified the enemy’s cruiser in a way it was not designed to.
