1. SEPTEMBER 30, 2023
The first time it happened, it was Max’s birthday. It wasn’t race week and the obnoxious party Red Bull was going to throw him, was the following day. That left you, Max, Jimmy, and Sassy against the world.
“You are so pretty,” Max said while petting Sassy. You smiled, he loved those little beings so much.
“They may be my favorite thing on this house” You answered jokingly, Jimmy crawling into your lap “Taking P1 indeed”
Max looked at you funny because was he really behind his cats? You bet. Max Verstappen loved being first, even if it meant fighting his cats to be P1 in your heart.
“Oh really?” the Dutchman teased “I’ll be the judge of that” He finished as he picked up Jimmy from your lap and ran away.
2. NOVEMBER 28, 2023
The second time it happened, it was Tuesday, two days after Abu Dhabi. Max had already secured his third world championship back in September, but RedBull had kept both of you there until Monday for partying.
You had just arrived at your shared apartment in Monaco, Jimmy and Sassy surprisingly purring at your arrival, tangling in your feet.
“Hi lovelies!” you said softly, petting both of their tiny heads “How are my favorite beings in the universe?”
“Oh, now they’re your universe?” Max complained, leaving his bags on the floor to pet his cats too “I figured a three-time world champion would be”
You just laughed at his childish behavior “Oh shut up, Maxie. Let them have their moment”
3. DECEMBER 31, 2023
The third time, was on New Year’s Day. You were at a party in Monaco, the sky adorned with stars, and the place was full of friends, family, and colleagues; One minute away from giving a warm welcome to 2024.
Max was holding you close, one arm around your waist, the other one caressing your arm. Your arms were wrapped around his torso, eyes focused on the stars before they drifted to him.
“Maxie” You called, he hummed, his arm around your waist losing a bit. “What’s your year's resolution?”
You and Max usually took that question as a joke, even after you achieved the majority of last year's. Max thought about it for at least 8 seconds before a grin popped on his lips.
“That one’s obvious. I will overtake the cats and become P1 in your heart,” He said, unserious. You laughed.
“Hard one. They will always be my favorite”
Max rolled his eyes, bringing you close one more time that year, his eyes shined with happiness and little mischief.
His temple met yours.
“Well, they don’t get to kiss you right…three, two…now”
Cheers and celebrations were shared while Max cupped your cheeks, kissing you sweetly.
“Happy new year, schatje”
4. JANUARY 29, 2024
The fourth time was on purpose. Max was away in Milton Keynes for testing and practice, you were home with two little creatures.
It had been a long day at the office and you missed Max, so around dusk, you decided to tease him a bit with a picture of the cats.
you: [ 1 image attached ]
you: actually my favorites ever EVER
Max laughed at loud when he saw it, getting a whistle from Christian and a pat on the back from Danny (they had just wrapped up a meeting). Max rolled his eyes, focusing back on your messages. He could win this one.
max: you know what’s my favorite EVER?
you: what?
max: [ 1 image attached ]
max: the new car😍😍😍
you: i could fight you and your vroom vroom AND win
max: good luck with that schatje
5. FEBRUARY 14, 2024
The fifth time was on Valentine’s Day. That morning, when buying groceries, you found yourself in the middle of the pet section, buying a couple some cat accessories and costumes for Valentine’s Day.
You were so eager to try it on the cats that when you got home, you discarded the other bags in the kitchen knowing Max would organize everything while you styled the two furry demons.
“Max! Look at their little costumes!” You said picking up Sassy, she had a heart-shaped antenna headband and a tutu.
“I’m one hundred percent sure she will hate you for the rest of her life” Max answered picking up his phone to take a photo.
“Oh yeah?” You challenged, picking up Jimmy so Max could take a photo of him too. “I wouldn’t be so sure about that, since I’m hers and Jim’s favorite… and they’re my favorite”
“Really, schat? On Valentine’s Day?” Max said in faked disbelief “I knew you hated me, but this is heartless”
You just laughed, turning around so you could take off the costumes before they were destroyed.
“I love you, babe!”
“Blah, blah, blah,” Max said “I love you too”
+1 . . . CLOSURE
Finally, it was a “normal” Sunday. Max had a two-week break before the next race, so he took one week off the factory to be with you.
But the thing is, Max, had been acting suspicious. All week long he had been so secretive but also so loving and touchy. What made you realize something was a bit off was his attitude around Friday, Saturday, and today.
On Friday, he decided to go hiking with you, gifting you a beautiful bracelet with three charms: A cat that looked just like Jimmy, a second cat that looked like Sassy, and a couple for both of you. You were used to Max gifting you things, usually, they were simple, handmade items, but he also bought you expensive stuff. You loved everything he gave you.
Then Saturday came. He prepared a dinner date in your favorite Monegasque restaurant, where he gave you flowers and a necklace, it had a heart with an M engraved on it. You loved it.
Even after two days of wonderful gifts and sunshine, Sunday morning was still a surprise. Max decided to wake you up with breakfast in bed and tons of kisses, a lovely morning of you asked anyone.
After that, he said you had to be ready for a picnic at 4 PM, you could have begged him to tell you why but you knew he was stubborn enough to resist everything.
Either way, that’s why you found yourself at the top of Monte Carlo, having a picnic while the sun was burned by the ocean.
“So, are you going to tell me what’s been this weekend?” You asked after taking a sip of wine, it was enchanté.
“Why? Is it out of character?” He asked back jokingly, you rolled your eyes, smiling. “I’m joking”
“I know”
“Follow me”
You grabbed Max’s hand, getting up from the floor. He started walking towards the sunset, golden light shining on his face, blue eyes turning green.
“This past month, we have been talking—daydreaming about a life together” Max started, you nodded “And, yes, we already live together but remember how we wanted more?”
You nodded again, your chest growing warm, this had to be going the place you wanted it to. This had to be the moment you had been waiting for. Max got close, taking your other hand in his as the sky turned pink.
“Well, I figured a couple of months ago before the season started,” He continued “That I want to spend the rest of my days, nights, years, life, and eternity with you”
He started to move away, making up space for a final movement.
“So, I wanted to know,” He knelt “Would you marry me?”
The world stopped. It stopped and even if the sun was setting, daylight had just sprung out from the bottom of Earth.
You started shaking your head yes.
“Yes! Yes, and a million times yes!” You exclaimed, wrapping your arms around him.
Max let out a loud sigh, laughing a bit before sliding the ring into your finger and launching himself at you “Thank you, baby. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you so so much”
“I love you so much more, Max”
There were hugs, kisses, laughter, and the dizzying feeling of adrenaline drove the car to the top of the podium. Max, drunk in happiness, cupped your face in his hands.
“Now that's out of the way. Am I your favorite?” He asked, almost laughing, but so hopeful. He was so cute.
“Max Emilian Verstappen!”
“I’m just joking…” He laughed, hugging you for a second and then holding your waist “But am I?”
“I like your cats a bit more than you, I won’t lie”
“Oh for fu-”
That’s when this whole situation clicked for you. Max had started all of this on Friday so it could be like a race weekend, finishing P1 on Sunday’s race.
“Schatje, I’m kidding, you’ve always been my favorite,” You said, now you were cupping his face in your hands “And you just did a Grand Slam,” You said, kissing your future husband.

ABU DHABI 2010
“Sebastian Vettel, you are the world champion!”
“The youngest world champion in F1 history!”
Sofia had heard it all. She wasn’t sad that she couldn’t finish the race, she was happy. At least she could see Sebastian cross the finish line. She had changed into a simple t shirt and jeans with some converse. After the race, all she wanted to do was see Sebastian, but she knew he would be busy with post race interviews so Sofia made her way to the Porsche motorhome in search of a snack.
“Sofia! Hey!” She heard Jenson’s voice as she was about to enter the motorhome. “Your lover boy is looking for you!”
Several people in the paddock stared at both Jenson and Sofia wondering who the lover boy was. The woman chuckled as Jenson winked at her. “You do know everyone just heard you?”
“You do know I don’t care.” Jenson said making her roll her eyes. He catches up to her and gave her a hug. “He’s been asking for you.”
“He can wait. I deserve some ice cream after that shit race.” Sofia replied.
“Yeah, we’ll don’t keep lover boy waiting. It’s annoying when he keeps asking for you. I love you, but please I can’t handle another ‘where’s sofia?’.” Jenson joked.
“I’ll go see him in a bit. He’s probably being held back by reporters.” Sofia said. “Would you like some ice cream?”
Jenson didn’t think twice about that. “Yeah, I could go for some.”
After finishing the vanilla ice cream, Sofia said goodbye to Jenson and made her way to the Red Bull garage. The celebrations were still going on. Soon, she saw Sebastian being congratulated by other people, one of them whispering something in his ear making him turn around and spot her.
“Schatz!” Sebastian ignored everyone around him and hurriedly pulled Sofia into a hug. “I’m so sorry about-”
“It’s doesn’t matter. You’re a world champion, Seb.” Sofia pulled away from the hug and kissed his cheek that taste too much like champagne. She could feel the stares of people on them. The cameras clicking so fast, she was sure one of them was going to pop up in a gossip magazine the next day.
Sebastian then took her hand and led her to his driver’s room where it was much more private. Now it definitely looked like something a couple would do, but Sebastian could care less. He was world champion and he wanted to celebrate with Sofia.
“My mom called, she told me to tell you that she’s proud of you and congratulations.” Sofia mentioned as she entered Sebastian’s drivers room, him following closely behind.
“When is she coming to a race? I haven’t seen her in a while.” Sebastian asked.
“She’s a teacher, she has teacher duties almost everyday. That woman doesn’t know when to stop working.” Sofia chuckled.
“We have to bring her out to a race. Which one do you think she’ll like? I’ll fly her out.”
“You’re going to make me look like a bad daughter.”
She sat on the tiny bed and watched as he got out a shirt and pants. He changed in front of her many times and it was never awkward, they were that comfortable with each other. He unzipped his suit and let it fall to his waist.
“What are your celebration plans? I’m assuming you won’t be in your hotel room until . . . 4am?” Sofia wondered.
“You mean we. You and I are going out.” Sebastian clarified. “It’s not a proper celebration without my best girl.”
“Oh so now I’m your girl?”
“You’ve always been my girl, my best girl.” He repeated.
Sofia stood up and approached him then whispered into his ear.“Funny, I don’t remember you asking me to be your girl.” She smiled then placed a kiss on his cheek. “I’ll be outside waiting, champ.”
Sebastian knew she was just teasing, but hearing her voice so close made him weak in the knees. Her voice had always brought a great comfort to him.
When Sofia left and shut the door, Sebastian let out a deep sigh. “Shit.” He said as he realized that Sofia Barrett had him acting like a lovesick fool.
“Can I speak to you?”
Mark definitely wasn’t expecting Sebastian to be knocking at his hotel room door at 3 am, but here he was. The Australian was exhausted and all he wanted to do was sleep, but Sebastian had other plans.
“Is it important?” Mark asked, half asleep.
“To me it is.” Sebastian replied. Without Mark’s permission, he let himself in. “I need to talk about something that’s been bothering me.”
“Yeah, alright.” Mark said defeated. “What?” He closed the door and walked to his bed.
“Sofia.”
“Sofia . . has been bothering you?” He wasn’t sure if Sebastian was drunk. “Look, I get that I’m older than both of you, but this isn’t like school when someone bothers you and you tattle to the teacher, mate.”
“No, it’s not like that. It’s . . Just don’t make fun of me, okay? I think I’m in love with her, wait no, I am in love with her.” He admitted.
“Are you drunk?”
“I’m completely sober actually. But, yeah, I am in love with Sofia Barrett.” He nodded.
“And this involves me how?”
Sebastian sighed. “I just needed to tell someone and I trust you. Obviously I couldn’t tell Sofia, she’s way out of my league.”
Mark laughed. “Yeah, she is.” He watched as his teammate rolled his eyes. “Did she go out with you to celebrate?”
“She did.” He nodded. “She payed for all the drinks even though I told her not to. She even kissed my cheek many times, not that I’m complaining. She made everyone laugh at the table and then for some reason we started talking about bugs because we saw a bee near by. She started telling me all these facts about bees and I just sat there listening to every word.”
“Oh man, you’re in deep.”

mark finally coming back after the last race of the season just very fluffy
A/N: This is when Mark was still racing for Red Bull
You couldn't wait for him to come, honestly you missed having his snores and hairy body next to yours when you slept. You've gotten so used to him sleeping next to you that now that he wasn't you weren't able to get proper sleep.
The warm bodies next to you are your three dogs that roam free on the ranch, but they knew when Mark was gone that you allowed them to sleep next to you. He didn't like it when you let the dogs inside as he wanted them to protect the property. But you still left one dog, who didn't like anyone but Mark.
He was your 6-year-old great pyrenees, named Prost. You have no idea why Mark picked that name, but you just rolled with it. You could see the outline of Prost's body standing in front of your porch door. He might not like you, but he took it serious when Mark tells him to protect you and the others.
Mark was probably on a plane right now, flying back from Abu Dhabi and couldn't wait for him to get home. You just wanted him home, to spend your times outside enjoying the sun and helping around the ranch. Have the other visit and just be away from the world for a few months without the weight of being a Red Bull driver on his shoulders.
Sighing, you're unable to sleep and stand up the dogs also popping their heads up but refuse to leave the warm bed. Walking through the house you notice that Prost was following you, you smile and open the front door and step out onto your front porch. You have no idea what time it was, as you step out onto the porch and sit down on your porch swing.
You notice Prost come up to you but circles around before dropping his heavy body onto the floor lying right at your feet. You smile, knowing if he wanted your attention, he would ask for it. It was never silent in the outback as you just enjoyed the sounds of the nature. Closing your eyes, you take deep breaths until you hear the small sound of an engine and dirt crunching underneath it's weight.
You notice a jacked-up Jeep driving down the driveway. Prost jumps up and starts to growl, but you don't worry knowing exactly who the Jeep belonged too. There was only one person who drove that Jeep, you smile as the headlights hit you but quickly are turned off and soon the engine follows.
Prost starts to growl louder, even letting out a sharp bark that has you jumping. 'Easy boy," Mark's voice rings out which has Prost just turn into a low rumble and lay back down in front of you. Mark comes into view, the porch light soft on his tired face. "Hi," You whisper as Mark drops his bag and bends down, squishing Prost's face and then kissing the top of his head.
"Hey, Roo." Mark stands and moves sitting down on the rocking chair with you. "You had a great race," You whisper, running your hand over his stubbled cheek. "Sebastian won," He whispers, resting his head on your shoulder, wrapping an arm tight around you. "Yeah, he did, but who cares, racing isn't everything," You whisper.
Mark chuckles and sighs, the outback night filling the silence. "You're everything," Mark whispers after a while which makes you smile. "You're everything too,"

Very Short Stories Week 12
Pot (7/7)
He looked at the dark, muscular tribesmen. One said something in the native tongue. He wasn't fluent but he knew the word. Dinner. Images a cannibal's pot popped to mind and, screaming, he fled into the jungle. "Are white men always so rude?" One native asked the other.
Carpet (8/7)
He woke up with a pounding head. He'd drooled on the carpet and could taste yesterday's Jaegerbombs. Wasn't his flat. He rolled over. Budget hotel. He used the bed to pull himself up and froze. There was an suitcase full of cash lying there. "What did I do last night?"
Cyclone (9/7)
The day had dawned bright and clear. A glorious summer day. The cyclone had hit out of nowhere, hundreds dead, buildings levelled. Chaos. No explanations. And then a monsoon hit Las Vegas. And Abu Dhabi was half buried by a blizzard. Nature was going insane.
Munch (10/7)
Bruce looked up. Silhouetted on the surface was a dark shape. A seal? He hadn't had seal in a while. He swam up, ready to munch. He took a big bite. "Eww, human!" He swallowed the foot and swam away disgusted. "You idiot." Amy said. "They'll be after us now!"
Acid (11/7)
Lee had seen a lot of wild shit. Napalm melting the jungle, a bunch of stuff after dropping acid at a Dead show. But the creature in the water was the oddest. Half man, half boar, half squid. The creature, and its excess of halves, surfaced, asking for the wifi password.
Powder (12/7)
The last landing site of the Tate wasn't easy to find. It had vanished centuries ago. Doc had done it, giddy as he thought of the Old Earth treasures it had carried. Opening the hold all they found were plastic tags, all the masterworks had long since crumbled to powder.
Screw (13/7)
They scavenged everything they could. Every bolt, every screw. The aged mech finally roared into life. Not the fastest. Definitely not the fanciest. But a war machine that was their best hope for survival on this hellish planet. TB-42. Or as they named it- Thunderbastard.

Brocedes time line for a very patient anon
Lewis quotes in orange, Nico quotes in pink, everyone else is blue.
okay first some background knowledge:
Nico is rich as fuck. only child, born in Germany, brought up in Monaco. son of world champion Keke Rosberg
Lewis was born on a council estate in Stevenage and his dad had to work multiple jobs for him to start karting
Honestly I think the difference in their backgrounds is one of the things that pushed them together, they were both isolated from the rest of the kids, but I’m keeping this purely facts rather than speculation.
2000
They’re both 15 years old and are karting teammates for MBB (Mercedes Benz McLaren) in Formula A
Robert Kubica: “there was always competition. But they didn’t fight. It was friendly competition. There was always laughing afterwards.” // “they would even have races to eat pizza”
They often shared hotel rooms at the races which was a “scene of many wrestling matches between them”
Dino Chiesa (their karting boss) – “many times I was called by reception about some problem in the room. It might be noise, or they might have broken something. They would never sleep so they were always tired the next morning”
“they both liked ice cream so much, particularly vanilla. During the night they wanted to eat ice cream always, so I had to go out everywhere to find some and keep them happy”
Lewis would often persuade Nico to buy him sweets
They would have competitions over LITERALLY EVERYTHING
Lewis: “we always had great competition whether on the racetrack or computer games or playing football”
“probably the first bit of competition we had was when Nico used to ride a unicycle everywhere so I thought, ‘I’ve got to learn how to ride this unicycle. Ive got to be better than him.’ I spent all my time outside the go-kart learning to ride this unicycle”
Apparently it only took Lewis 2 hours to teach himself how to do it
In maybe 2013 ish (when they were still friends) Lewis reflected with– “I have never laughed so much than when we were racing together. Nico was kicking everyone’s butt at that time. We had so great races together and built a great relationship”
“we were just arriving and enjoying go-karts and eating pizzas every weekend, fighting all the time and just having fun, whereas now it’s all business.”
many times they would talk about what they would do when they got to f1, made plans hoping to be teammates and become world champions together.
“Nico would say ‘when I’m in formula one’ and for me it was always ‘if I ever get to formula one’. Because obviously Nico’s dad was a formula 1 driver- he knew he was going to make it.”
F1
Nico joined f1 in 2006 with williams, Lewis 2007 with McLaren. And man I WISH I knew what went down with this two when Lewis nearly one his rookie season (missing out by one point to mr fernando alonso) and then WON THE CHAMPIONSHIP in his SECOND SEASON (again by one point thank you mr alonso)
2008 Australia
Nicos gets his first podium, and ofc Lewis is there (he won it) and they are jumping around in the cool down room. Just, two kids who are literally living the one thing they have spent their whole lives dreaming about together. Lewis won the championship that year and oh wow I can only imagine their celebrations together.
Tumblr media
2013
They’re teammates in Mercedes!!!
Nico: “every other day there are moments or things that pop up and I can smirk and thing, ‘that’s exactly the same as it was 15 years ago’”
2013 Malaysian Grand Prix gets an honourable mention. This is the race with red bulls good old multi 21 but merc also had their own team orders, stopping nico from fighting for his first merc podium, but Lewis disagreed with it so it didn’t really spark that much tension between them- more the team.
2014
the start of the turbo-hybrid era so y’all know this was good in terms of performance.
2014 Bahrain Grand Prix
They were both fighting for the win and had a collision which prompted a “mock fight” in parc ferme after the race (which I really hope there’s a video of).
Turns out, Nico won because he had used engine modes banned by Mercedes to get a power advantage in the closing laps. which kinda pissed Lewis off
2014 Spanish Grand Prix
Lewis’ fourth win in a row and took lead in the championship. They were fighting till literally the last second and Lewis crossed the line 0.6 seconds ahead of Nico, who says he could have passed him with one more lap.
Lewis defended using the same banned engine modes that Nico had used in Bahrain. Yeah.
2014 Monaco Grand Prix
This is IT. This is peak petty bitch. This is the one people still cry about.
It’s the end of Q3, both of them are out on a lap, Nico ahead of lewis. Nico’s already on provisional pole but Lewis is pretty close.
And then,, Nico just,, parks his car?? He says he made a mistake but the guy doesn’t even crash he straight up just,, rolls to a stop into a slip road. So the yellow flags come out forcing Lewis to abort a lap that was in the makings of pole.
The stewards say it was a-okay but Lewis was convinced it was intentional (and let’s be honest, yeah it probably was) and he even claimed that merc’s data proved it. (low key surprised he didn’t just tweet out the telemetry but I guess he got a stern telling off from mclaren last time)
But *this* is when Lewis tells the world that they aren’t friends anymore. An iconic interview.
Nico then wins the race too, ending Lewis’s four win streak and putting Nico in the lead of the championship.
2014 Hungarian Grand Prix
Lewis has an engine failure in quali meaning he starts from the pit lane, but he does good to make his way up the pack but THEN there’s a safety car which puts him ahead of Nico but on a different strategy.
Nico asks if Lewis can let him past as he needs to pit again before the end of the race, which will give him the place back anyways. Lewis straight up refuses, he’s on a role here. He started from last, and Nico started from pole, why should he slow down to let his title rival through.
Mercedes strongly suggest that his blocking fucked up Nicos race but Niki Lauda is on Lewis’ side so he doesn’t get punished (We stan a supportive father figure) even though he did blatantly refuse to be a team player.
And guys, this is the last race before the summer break so you know Nico was left seething for four weeks.
2014 Belgian Grand Prix
Second lap, Nico attempts a clumsy move and there’s contact, giving Hamilton a puncture and knocking him out of the race.
There’s a lot of controversy but basically it turns out he crashed with him intentionally, not backing out of the corner to “prove a point”. Nico ended up finishing second but was punished by the team, forced to apologise, and even booed on the podium.
2014 Abu Dhabi
For some reason it ran for double points?? The first time in History??? But idk???
Lewis had a perfect start and went on to win it and take the title, Nico had a problem and was told to retire the car but he kept going anyway and finished 14th. Nico went into the cool down room to congratulate Lewis on the championship win, which. cute.
Lewis claimed his second championship. Which not only was huge because of the inter team rivalry, but also because of the large gap between his first win. This guy had lost out on winning the championship in his ROOKIE season by ONE POINT, and then WON it in his SECOND season, and then there was like a FIVE YEAR gap before he won it again.
Tumblr media
2015
Damnnn this car was fiiiinneeeeeee.
They do more laps in testing than any other car AND do it on a single power unit. And then. Australia. They take a one-two THIRTY FOUR seconds ahead of the third place Ferrari.
2015 Chinese Grand Prix
Nico is second in a one-two but claims that Lewis kept backing him up into Seb, trying to compromise his race (and help out his boyfriend).
Lewis gave zero shits: "It's not my job to look after Nico's race, it's my job to manage the car and bring the car home as healthy and as fast as possible. That's what I did."
2015 U.S. Grand Prix
If Lewis wins here he could also claim the title with three races to spare (you have to remember back then the title fight often went up to the last race so this was pretty cool)
Lewis very aggressively forced Rosberg wide at Turn 1 to claim the lead, and then there was some sexy fighting between the Mercs and Redbull all race. Nico led in the closing stages but made a mistake, running deep into a corner and letting Lewis past with only a handful of laps to go.
Nico finished P2 and had not only lost the race but the championship title. Nico was fuming, saying Lewis’ move at the start was “one step too far”.
This is the infamous cap throw in the cool down room. Lewis throws Nico his P2 hat, Nico straight up yeets it back at him. I tear up just thinking about it. They grow up so fast.
Tumblr media
2016
Nico had came so close to winning and I guess this was just, the last straw. All or nothing. This year he literally gave it everything he had. Lewis and him stopped speaking, Nico gave up literally the rest of his life and even stopped sleeping in the same bed as his wife and taking care of his kids, instead spending every moment trying to get into Lewis’ head. Honestly, I think he might be the only one that could beat Lewis. Just because he knew him *so well*. He literally threw away like 16 years of friendship. But also it’s like, he had to be world champion. He *had to*. His dad was champion and his whole life he’s been preparing to win it too. Tough luck that he raced in the same era as Mr. Best Driver The Sport Has Ever Seen.
Nico won the last few races of 2015, and the first four races of 2016. Lewis had a couple car problems and Nico had a good lead on him in the championship.
2016 Spanish Grand Prix
Gentlemen. A short view back to the past. Nico had made a switch error on the formation lap causing the car to go into the wrong engine mode. So he was running a lot slower than Lewis, who was fighting to claim back the lead.
Nico closed the door to keep him back, and Lewis lost control on the grass, and spins into Nico and taking them both out of the race in the first lap. This is probably one of the most iconic crashes. I’m pretty sure there’s a clip of this somewhere in black and white with the titanic music over the top.
Niki Lauda blamed this one on Lewis (I guess even a supportive dad has to be critical sometimes) "Lewis is too aggressive. It is stupid, we could've won this race".
2016 Austrian Grand Prix
Nico had been struggling with a brake issue all race but was still on the way to win it. But in the last lap Lewis had caught him up and gone in for the overtake.
Typical Nico not taking any shit, refusing to be the guy that backs out and they collide. Lewis took the win and a damaged Nico dropped to fourth. From first. In the last lap.
Both of them blamed each other and tired dad team boss Toto Wolff threatened team orders in future races.
The stewards blamed Nico for the incident, issuing him two penalty points for failing to allow "racing room" and causing a collision.
2016 Abu Dhabi
In the final laps of the race, Lewis ignored team-orders from his race engineer and the technical director.
He deliberately slowed and backed Nico into the pack hoping they overtake him, and there would be enough of a points difference to win the title.
Nico finished second and won the title by five points.
And then,,, Nico announced a surprise retirement during the FIA prize giving ceremony.
Lewis’ response:
"This is the first time he's won in 18 years, hence why it was not a surprise that he decided to stop.” (We stan a petty king)
“But he's also got a family to focus on and probably wants to have more children. Formula One takes up so much of your time."
“In terms of missing the rivalry, of course because we started karting when we were 13 and we would always talk about being champions. When I joined this team, Nico was there, which was something we spoke about when we were kids. So it's going to be very, very strange, and, for sure, it will be sad to not have him in the team next year."
And now they are kind of on speaking terms but not really, they are both pretty private but I think they are at the ‘awkward small talk when we run into each other at the supermarket’ stage of the break up.

The restructuring was crowned in the objectification of Etisalat Services Holding LLC, which as of 2008 oversees the operation of Etisalat'snon-telecom business units with huge success stories. On 27 March 2016 Saleh Al Abdooli has been appointed the Group CEO, extending his responsibility to transnational operations. Star Wars Stormtroopers: Beyond the Armor by Ryder Windham and Adam Bray
Foreword by John Boyega
The first time I went on set for Star Wars: The Force Awakens was in Abu Dhabi to shoot the scenes for Jakku. The sets were real; the archway was there; the creatures moved; the droids rolled by—and I remember thinking this is too much! We’re on a planet, a real planet. It was so surreal and amazing.
To be a Star Wars fan, getting cast to be part of the galaxy far, far away is an experience like no other. When J. J. called and asked me to meet him and I heard the words “You’re going to star in the next Star Wars,” everything froze. After a lifetime of fandom and seven months of auditions . . . YES! It was real.
My first introduction to Star Wars was when The Phantom Menace was released (yes, I am a child of the ’90s). The characters, the ships, the lightsabers, and the whole galaxy captivated me. As I got older and learned about story and character development, I delved into the original trilogy. I came to appreciate the worlds and truly became a fan. I dug into the comics and video games. In taking on the role of Finn, the first stormtrooper we would get to know as an individual, it was a chance to explore a character in a way that had never been done before in the saga.
Stormtroopers, from the history of the franchise and in comics, all look the same, wear the same armor and helmets. They do the same thing and follow orders. They are just one of many. And here’s a character who questions that. It’s such an important part of Finn’s journey that he questions that uniformity and investigates what that means to him. He has a complicated history of how he came to be a stormtrooper, and as he comes to question how he got to be where he is, it creates an interesting dilemma for Finn.
But he’s not the kind of hero who has it all figured out. He doesn’t quite know where he fits in the galaxy. It was fantastic that in The Force Awakens Finn looks sweaty, out of breath, and confused much of the time. It makes him real and relatable—he’s not smooth . . . I mean he’s no Han Solo.
The day we shot the scene at Maz’s castle, with the rubble all around—the first day I got to hold the lightsaber and still one of my favorite moments ever—Finn had to face his former brothers in armor. It was such an impactful day for the character as well as myself. Finn had been betrayed by the lies he was raised to believe, but he knew he had to fight. He’s a character who is obviously trying to do what he thinks is right, to put himself on a purposeful path, which can become quite complicated. But that is what makes Finn’s journey his own.
It’s been a few years since fans met Finn and his story is far from complete, but the reception he received has been exceptional. There’s not much that can prepare you for the massive engine that is Star Wars. The action figures. The costumes. The media events. The fans. I mean, I have no shame as a fan myself. I brought merchandise to the set for people to sign. But seeing the fans line up, in costume, to greet us at each event was amazing. The first day I put on my armor was incredible . . . a bit uncomfortable at first, so I applaud those fans in the stormtrooper outfits. You all truly bring the galaxy to life.
The moments you spend with the fans, my fellow geeks, are what make being part of this franchise so fantastic. One of my favorite moments happened as I was standing behind a fan watching The Force Awakens trailer. I commented on it. Her reaction, the look on her face, when she turned around was something I will never forget. When The Force Awakens was first released, I did several pop-up appearances at various cinemas in New York and in London. Being able to share those moments and experience it with the fans never gets old.
Filming The Last Jedi was amazing and special in its own way—it was different than filming The Force Awakens because it wasn’t the first time. But it should be different. The story and characters are heading in new, perhaps darker directions. As Finn pulls further from his origins as a stormtrooper, he’s faced with new challenges, but we might see how that experience as a trooper has shaped him . . . and learn something new about the men beneath the armor.

Car Maintenance Checklist: 9 Essential Steps That Anyone Can Do
Tumblr media
No one loves reaching into their pocket to pay the mechanic. That's the reason it's important to take preventative measures with regular DIY maintenance, especially on the off chance that you drive a vehicle that is considered "old" by today's standards. In the event that you want to save cash while taking extra-special care of your daily driver, our car maintenance checklist will help guarantee all your bases are covered when it's an ideal opportunity to pop the hood and kick the tires.
Past life span, keeping any vehicle fit as a fiddle with standard maintenance procedures also increases safety. At the point when a car is running easily and performing optimally, not exclusively is there less strain on your car motor and different components, your driving ability will not be blocked by a compromised vehicle.
Staying on top of a car maintenance checklist will not singularly avoid potential collisions or accidents, yet a profoundly functional vehicle can help save you on the road and in the pocketbook. In light of that, here are some DIY vehicle maintenance tasks that you can do easily without anyone else.
Get comfortable with your proprietor's manual
Many drivers will in general overlook their proprietor's manual, however consider it along these lines: If you purchased another tech gadget, would you simply start utilizing it without reading any of the instructions? That mentality also applies to a car.
Each car comes with a proprietor's manual. This manual covers all the car's features and components in the engine and inside the cabin. You can make a note of the areas and details you want to learn about as you go through this rundown.
The manual holds important information that includes a recommended maintenance schedule covering all the parts and liquids the car needs regularly replaced. It can range from how regularly to change your oil, and when is the best an ideal opportunity to swap out channels or belts. On account of engine oil, it will note which type it runs on, so you realize what to search for when it's the ideal opportunity for a change.
Your proprietor's manual will also lay out all safety measures to take as you go through your car's adjust checklist, so make sure you study it closely for your own safety.
A quick 60-second inspection can reveal a ton
A few parts of a car are profoundly noticeable so you know when something's happening. For example, make sure to check that all lights work from time to time. Headlights, taillights, and blinker lights are important to driver safety and are needed to be ready to rock 'n roll by law. You ought to also check for rust on the body, undercarriage, and in the engine. Rust can spread and do genuine damage whenever left untreated.
In the engine, you can also do a quick car battery check.
With the car battery, you're searching for any frayed cables, cracks in the casing, corrosion, earth, and different indications of damage.
You can also do a quick check of various liquids as well, especially oil and washer liquid, which are entirely accessible and easy to inspect. Anytime you see a leak, it's important to move it checked out immediately to mitigate any further damage and costly repairs.
Yet, as important as standard 1-minute inspections are, you'll need to plunge somewhat more profound every now and then to guarantee your car stays in perfect running request. This checklist covers:
Motor oil
Coolant, antifreeze, guiding, and transmission liquids
Battery
Tires
Air and cabin channels
Spark plugs
Belts
Windshield wipers
Check Engine light
1. Check the motor oil in your car
Oil change organizations will place stickers on the windshield with a future odometer reading as the recommended point for when you should get back to change it again. Only one out of every odd vehicle is the same—nor is each motor—so the number furnished may not necessarily jive with the automaker's recommended edge.
In spite of the fact that man-made, synthetic oil lasts longer and is considered cleaner and more efficient than regular oil or synthetic mixes. That usually means you can accumulate more kilometers before you need to change it. Your proprietor's manual should offer some guidance on the motor's viscosity and the average mileage per oil change. Compare that figure to an oil changer's estimate, and you will have a general idea on when to return.
You can always check oil levels by utilizing the dipstick, or in some more up to date vehicles, an electronic gauge. In the event that the oil is really dark or looks sloppy on the surface, it's the ideal opportunity for a change. Great motor oil is somewhat translucent with a smoother surface to it.  Looking For a BMW Service Center Abu Dhabi Visit Universal Auto Garage
2. Check different liquids in your car
Cars run on different liquids as well, and you can manually check them yourself. The easiest is washer liquid, which can quickly run out in the colder time of year, and is also exceptionally easy to top off when you're coming up short.
Motor coolant, antifreeze, and guiding liquid all come with dipsticks or gauges, making it easy to check liquid levels at a glance. Your proprietor's manual may not specify how to check or top off them, however you can familiarize yourself with where they are and have a look.
Manuals regularly will not make reference to transmission liquid, as there is no universal mileage figure on when to change it, so it's ideal to check with the manufacturer to get a recommendation.
Coolant and antifreeze have distinct drains, however beating up and replacing/topping off it are two distinctly various tasks. On the off chance that you are coming up short, be it a leak or something different, beating up is easy. On the off chance that it's an ideal opportunity to flush or drain the liquids, there is more work needed to arrive.
3. Checking the battery
Car batteries are integral to running a healthy vehicle, and when following the correct advances, are relatively straightforward to test or replace. You can get more detailed information on the most proficient method to manage your car battery with our comprehensive guide.
4. Check, rotate, and change your tires
Tire pressure always requires some inspection, so a basic walkaround can give clues on whether any of the four tires are lower than they ought to be. Check the treads and make sure they aren't excessively worn. The "Tonie Test" is a great trick to help you know whether new tires are required:
It's always a smart thought to have a tire pressure gauge in the car because it's a low-tech way to realize how much air is actually inside each one. There's a lot to learn about tire maintenance to maximize mileage and guarantee safety on Canada's intense road conditions.
5. Air and cabin channels
There are two key channels that you shouldn't overlook because they protect the motor and affect the air quality in the cabin. The motor air channel keeps earth, garbage, and different contaminants from getting in. That also includes dust or different particles going from the cabin into the motor as well.
The cabin channel blocks pollutants that could potentially course through the car's HVAC framework. Residue, exhaust cloud, dust, and form spores, among others, are kept from contaminating the air inside. To keep that up, you should replace the cabin channel as well.
While the cabin channel is usually easy to access, the air channel can vary, contingent upon the make and model you're driving. Clogged channels make the motor work harder to push air through, in this manner affecting performance and eco-friendliness. Automakers may have recommended maintenance timeframes based on mileage in the manual, or may not make reference to it at all. In any case, they all offer some guidance on when is the correct time.
You can also utilize your own eyes and nose to decipher how clogged or messy the channels are. An odd or smelly scent in the cabin, especially when heat or AC is on, could indicate the channel is in a bad way. While inspecting a motor air channel, have a go at raising it toward a source of light. The dependable guideline is on the off chance that you can't perceive any light pass through, it's an ideal opportunity to replace it.
6. Spark plugs
Spark plugs play an important part in motor efficiency, and they can be susceptible to development that ultimately affects overall performance. Your proprietor's manual usually reveals to you how regularly spark fittings should be replaced, yet your spark attachment may should be replaced sooner if:
Your car battles to accelerate.
You have inconvenience starting the motor or hear peculiar "popping" fizzle sounds.
You notice a demolishing efficiency.
Copper spark plugs have a more extended center electrode than iridium ones do. Iridium plugs are more costly yet last more and offer a superior spark. At the point when you check your spark plugs (your proprietor's manual will disclose to you where they're located in the engine) the electrode and tip shouldn't be black from the motor crud. In the event that it is, you need to either clean it or replace it. Visit Universal Auto Garage for Car AC Repair in Mussafah
7. Taking a gander at the belts
Timing and serpentine belts are the most common, and at some point or another, you should replace them. Manufacturers have various recommendations on when you ought to do that, so there is definitely not a universal number to stick to for each vehicle. These aren't easy to replace outside of a garage, so is better left to a mechanic to handle.
Nonetheless, you can check them for some basic telltale signs. Cracking, fraying, and releasing pressure are warning indications of a belt on its way out. Realize what to search for and you can get a smart thought when it's an ideal opportunity to swap it for another one.
8. Replacing windshield wipers blades
Windshield wipers can take a real beating, especially in Canadian weather, so it's important to stay on top of their performance. Once you notice extra water streaking to the windshield after each swipe, it could be an ideal opportunity to swap them out for new ones. You can always have a go at cleaning down the elastic with a washcloth to check whether that improves performance.
Wipers have standardized lengths and sizes, so it relies upon what your car upholds. Once in a while, the left and right ones will be various lengths. They are also made up of two parts—the metal arm and the blade with the elastic attached—so you may just have to replace the elastic and not the arm.
9. What to do when the check motor light comes on
The check motor light is always a little jarring when you see it spring up because it doesn't give you any context past that. What does that little light mean? It could mean anything! Now and again it's not much. At times it is. Thankfully, there are ways to investigate and sort it out. Check out Universal Auto Garage for Car Service Abu Dhabi in Mussafah

If At First You Don’t Succeed...
A/N: Cabin Pressure fandom
Summary: A prompt I received a few days ago from @unionjackpillow about Martins feelings on the first day at the airfield.
Word Count: 1,215
You can also read it over on my AO3 account:
“If At First You Don’t Succeed... Do It Seven More Times Until You Do!”
Across the airfield a soft fog played over the runway, the sun just starting to crest over the trees.
A place with a purpose that is, for a moment, quiet can seem like a dreamworld.
For one man it was.
Martin Crieff sat in his van taking in the scene before him.  The lone hanger which held the vessel he would soon captain, the portacabin where he would be able to instruct and conference with his crew, the...... well that was it... but it was wonderful!  It was all he had ever hoped for and more than he had started to believe he would get.
Most of Fitton was probably either still asleep or just having their first cups of coffee, but not Martin.  He'd already had three and a half cups of coffee by 5:00 a.m. this morning and was like a live wire.  He knew a captain needed their rest (12 hrs worth he would tell you if asked), but even so this was an incredibly important day and he wanted it to be perfect.  He'd been instructed to be at the airfield at 6:00 a.m. sharp so there was much to do beforehand.
The previous night he'd laid out his captains uniform, polished the gold braiding on his hat, polished his shoes, polished every bit of gold braiding on his hat again and then ran over the flight manifesto for the Abu Dhabi trip.  After falling asleep at 7:32 p.m., as difficult as it was, he popped awake like a daisy before his alarms went off at 3:00 a.m. and had been going ever since.
As Martin sat there in his van, which rumbled and sputtered like a smoker having a coughing fit, he kept thinking over what he had to do today.
Remember the weather patterns coming in over the Persian Gulf.
It's a cargo flight so pre-flight checks should be completed after everything is secure in the hold.
All crew should have their bags safely stowed on board along with all proper paperwork for items and all licenses for personnel.
The last one made his heart drop for a moment.  His license!
He'd checked at least three times before he'd left his attic, but it had been 30 minutes since he'd last laid eyes on it and it could be anywhere!
Quickly reaching into the back of his van he hauled his overnight bag to the front and quickly looked through the outside pocket.  It always did have that falter zipper that he'd never got fixed!  What if it had slipped out?!  What if...
"Oh god... there you are," he whispered in relief, pulling out the little card.  His heart still raced in his chest as his fingers held onto the precious piece of plastic that well and truly marked him as a pilot.
This was really happening. This was really taking place in real time.... for real.
Martin looked up again, eyes once more scanning over the airfield.  How long had he worked to get here?  How many hours had he put in studying every night, eyes growing tired and sore as he poured over every flight manuel he could get his hands on?
Not to mention the hours spent working his man with a van job to save up every coin he could to take that test?  And hadn't that been a trial by fire.  Retaking the test over and over and over again until his self esteem and heart felt so battered he wondered why he kept going.  Yet somehow.... somehow he'd finally made it here.  To his dreamworld.
Never had Martin felt more proud and now that he was here.... never had he felt more at home.
The sound of cars pulling up on the gravel next to his van startled him from his reverie and he cleared his throat, tucking his license back in the bags outer pocket.  He stepped out of the van, bag in hand and was quickly met with a rather bouncy and giddy looking man that had him pressed back up against his van in an instant.
"Oh!  You must be Martin!  Mum has told me so much about you!  Well... not much because we've only just met and your interview was only about twenty minutes?  But you can learn a lot about a person in twenty minutes!  Crickey, imagine how much we'll learn on this flight all the way to Abu Dha-....,"
"Good lord, Arthur. Did you drink coffee this morning or just chew the beans whole?" Douglas drawled, stepping out of his Lexus and swinging his own bag over his shoulder in an almost effortless gesture. "Don't let him frighten you.... Martin, was it?  He's always excited to meet new people...... and also people he's met before.  He just likes people to be honest, but once you let him sniff your palm and he gets used to your scent he should calm down."
"I'm not a dog, Douglas!  I'm a person.... obviously," Arthur said with an exasperated little roll of his eyes and huff, though the wide smile still remained on his face.  He looked back at Martin and thumbed toward Douglas. "He must not've had his coffee yet this morning.  Thinking I'm a dog.... honestly."  Arthur chuckled, shaking his head and starting to follow the First Officer to the portacabin.  He paused a moment and looked back at the captain who was still standing near his van, hands clutching his bag like a first year holding his lunchbox on the first day of school.
"Aren't you coming, Skip?" he asked, the question causing Douglas to stop his trek to the warmth of the portacabin to turn and look at the man curiously.
"Martin?  I promise that you really don't have to let Arthur sniff you.... it was just a helpful suggestion," Douglas said, a slight smirk on his face.
Martin looked between the two of them.  This.... this definitely wasn't what he thought his dream was going to be if or when it came to fruition, yet… it was his and nothing could change how proud he was to be here.
"Yes, no!  I mean... yes, I'm coming and no... that's not a helpful suggestion, but thank you all the same, First Officer Richardson," Martin said, starting to walk toward the portacabin with the little group.
Douglas raised his eyebrows at that, standing a little straighter himself, a slight sparkle in his eyes.  "My apologies, Sir.  I didn't realize our captain wasn't a fan of helpful suggestions which I... the lowly first officer, am generally tasked with giving," he said in his best unsarcastic, yet woefully sarcastic, voice.
Martin huffed and narrowed his gaze at the man.  "In flight and during crisis.  Not when meeting with the crew on the first morning!" he argued.
"Meeting Arthur is a crisis," Douglas said innocently, causing Martin to scowl a bit more on the stewards behalf.
Arthur looked between the two as they continued to bicker all the way to the door, following behind them like the puppy he definitely was not.  "I think.... we're definitely learning a lot about each other.  And it hasn't even been twenty minutes!"

overwhelming
pairing: chris dixon x reader warning(s): alcohol tw  note: listen to overwhelming - jon bellion while reading / 2,682 words
yeah, i think i got one her soul is presidential like Barack, son yeah, she call me Goose, i call her Maverick 'cause of Top Gun they say we annoying, they just jealous cause we got love yeah, i got a hot one she don't want a problem if there's not one but people come around and try some stupid shit to start one she give you the people's fuckin' elbow like The Rock, son
"You two are mad annoying, ya know?" Simon tsked, catching a glimpse of you and Chris out the corner of his eye. You glanced away from Chris and looked at Simon, rolling your eyes, and he continued. "I mean, I did ask Chris to come to London.."
"We're a package deal, Minter." You swung your legs off of Chris' lap and stood up. "When you get one, you get the other too." He just shook his head and you walked from the sofa and into the kitchen just down the hall. This was your second day visiting the new Sidemen house, so you were still adjusting to the new place and trying to remember where everything was. You spent four minutes trying to find the bathroom last night, but luckily you knew where your favorite place was- the kitchen. "Hey Goose!" You called out, "you want a water?"
Chris licked his lips and replied after the sound of his nickname; "Yes, please!" He said before following it with, "Maverick!" And then he returned to the game of FIFA that he and Simon were in the midst of, but a second later, the menu popped up on the telly screen and he raised a brow. He hadn't accidentally pressed the button himself, and instinctively he turned to Simon to see the fellow Youtuber staring at him with a blank face. "What?" Chris chuckled.
"Goose? Maverick?" Chris chuckled and shook his head. He knew that someone would eventually question you two.
"Ever watched Top Gun?" Simon shook his head and Chris continued. "Well, I made the mistake of letting her watch it with me. Then we just kind of adopted those nicknames for each other."
"Is that like a stupid couple thing?"
A second later your voice echoed into the living room as you made your way back into the living room, now with two bottles of water and an apple. "Yeah, 'cause you wouldn't know about couple shit, right?" Walking back to the sofa, you tossed a water bottle to Chris and then looked back up at Simon. He was trying to keep a straight face, but a grin tempted his lips. "Hit you where it hurts?" And he nodded and you laughed. "Sorry,"
"No you're not."
"Eh," you lowered yourself back down onto the sofa next to Chris, your knee bumping against his. "No not really, because if you had a girlfriend that would mean I would have you deal with sappy you." You shook your head. "And I couldn't deal with that."
"And we can't take those football trips alone." Chris butted in. "Remember Abu Dhabi? Now imagine that with a girlfriend."
"She went!" Simon pointed over at you and you laughed, nearly spitting out your water.
"Yeah, but she's one of the guys half the time." Chris reasoned and Simon teetered his head back and forth before nodding. You laughed, knowing well that it was true.
"So as long as you and Chris have the sappy relationship, I'm good?"
You nodded and laughed, "exactly. And Chris and I have enough love to go around."
Chris reached over and placed a hand on your knee, rubbing his thumb along the top of your thigh as you grabbed the controller and Simon un-paused the game on the telly. He sat back and watched as you and Simon fought back and forth, yelling and laughing at each other after poor attempts, and then cursing after the other scored. Chris laughed at your celebration dance, fist pumping before throwing your arms around his neck and then having to return to the match seconds later.
This was one of the first times that you had met Simon, and even been to London with Chris. You visited London once early last year to meet the entire Sidemen and all of Chris' friends, and now this was your second trip. The entire day had been revolved around filming with a few of the Sidemen and running around London with them, and even though it was only your second time meeting them with Chris, it felt like it was the hundredth. You fit in so well into the group, whether it was while discussing football over dinner or just in general during a quick pick-up game of FIFA. That was important to Chris because they were some of his closest friends, thanks to Youtube, and spent a great deal with them for recording purposes and in general life. So having you become so close and be so comfortable with them made him feel a sense of peace.
The last girl that Chris brought around, which was when he first started Youtube, clearly wasn't into the lifestyle that he was now living. She was a phenomenal person, but there wasn't the connection between her and his friends that you had with them. If he left his ex alone with them, they would sit in silence, but you started banter with them or had a general conversation. Her not being able to fit in wasn't the reason behind the break up, but if was something that also fell along with it.
There were other perks of the relationship, and of you, outside of getting along with his friends, but it still made him happy. He had been single for so long, and okay with that, but then you stumbled in (literally but that was a story of a different time) and he couldn't be more happy.
During the early stages of the relationship, in between the awkward texts and first dates, Chris assumed he knew you pretty well. He knew you were a university student finishing your studies, had a good head on your shoulders, enjoyed being and going out, and just having fun in general. But it was clear as the dates progressed and the more that you two hung out, he learned more and more about you.
He learned that you enjoyed letting loose, even sometimes a bit too much, after a hard week. He learned that you had a thing for adventures, always wanting to go somewhere or do something, even if it meant driving across Jersey entirely, or packing bags to head to the airport with no idea of where to go. He got to know the tattoos that graced your skin, along the back of your arm and shoulder, a scripture down your torso as he delicately ran his finger tips over the ink and sat with you at the shop as you got your most recent one. He learned that you loved to spend time with him, even if it meant you sitting on his bed and reading or scrolling through social media as he edited an upcoming video. He learned that you loved to sing in the car- blaring Queen or The Rolling Stones as loud as possible, and singing along just as loud.
And Chris couldn't forget the party when he realized what kind of drunk you were as you tried to dance on a glass table in heels before he had to help you down. He also couldn't forget Jersey Live during that summer as you nearly got into a fight with someone who went after one of your best friends. He couldn't forget the late nights as you would come to his place in the early hours just to hang out and then stay up until the early hours of the morning.
You were a taste of something different that he never had, and it gave him such a rush, and made him feel ways he never did. And it felt good.
"hey, do i impress you?" i really like the way you rock a sweatsuit when you working out and i'm just watching how your legs move they would think that you was, like, developed in a test tube you deserve a theme song you could be the shoulder that i lean on love it when you're late for work and try to slip your jeans on you be bumping Chili Peppers all up in your Nissan
Stretching out his arms, Chris yawned and stretched before relaxing against his soft mattress and under the heavy duvet. He was so tempted to fall back into slumber, sleep until the late hours of the afternoon to catch up on his rest, but he knew that would only fuck what was left of his sleeping schedule. So he had to force himself to stay awake, and rubbed his eyes with balled fists.
Blinking a couple of times and fully coming to his senses, Chris rolled over and looked right at you sleeping soundly next to him. You were in one of his jumpers, the hem riding up your thighs and revealing the curve of your butt along with your lace panties. You were in such a deep slumber, not even feeling him shift on the mattress like you usually did in the middle of the night. It was clear that a five-hour flight delay and staying in London until after midnight, and then a flight back to Jersey in the middle of the night clearly took a toll on your sleep. Chris looked at you, and you were sleeping so soundly, and seemed so peaceful.
On any other day, that was a rarity.
If you were at his place, you were playing music, talking about anything and everything while making jokes and bantering back and forth with him, occasionally playing a game of FIFA or watching a film, and sometimes all of the above on some days. However, you now you were so quiet and calm. That was so unusual it actually made Chris uncomfortable, but he decided to let you get some rest before you were due back home.
It was later, around 9 o'clock that morning when you finally arose from your deep sleep. You slept so well after falling into bed that you actually didn't know what time, what day, or really what year it was when you opened your eyes. You did know, however, that Chris was awake as he was sitting in his desk chair, typing away at his laptop while also editing on another. You shifted under the duvet and onto your side, and at the sound of the mattress moving, Chris turned around and looked at you. He jerked out an earphone and smiled warmly.
"Hey, how did you sleep?"
You nodded, your cheek pressed against the soft pillow. "Really good." You admitted before yawning, and then asking; "What time is it?"
"About five after nine." Chris said and you nodded again, now understanding that in less than forty minutes you were supposed to be at work. And in that moment you hated yourself for embarking on the trip to London with Chris, even though you had fun the entire time, 5-hours-of-sleep-you was not too pleased with the current situation.
You peeled the duvet off your body and stood up, grabbing your toothbrush and things before heading off to the bathroom. Chris could hear you brushing your teeth and washing you face from down the hall, and then you appeared back into the room seconds later. You searched through your bags and found a pair of jeans, sliding them on your legs as you attempted to get ready to leave. Luckily all of your other things were in your car outside, which had been parked there since you left with Chris early last week.
"I gotta get going." You said before looking down at Chris' jumper that hung loose on your torso, and then back up to him. "And I'll bring this back later." You swung your backpack on your shoulders and grabbed your keys that laid on his desk. "I'll see you later tonight?" Even though you two had just spent an entire week together, the separation anxiety was major while you were at work. Several times Chris even came into your job to surprise you, even though you had lunch with him just an hour before.
Chris nodded and leaned his head back, and you leaned over him, pressing your lips against his. His lips tasted like mouth-wash, so you knew he hadn't been awake much longer than you. "I'll see you tonight." He said before reaching out, holding onto your face, and pecking your lips. You laughed as he pinched your cheeks together and your lips puckered and he kissed you again. Chris loved moments like this, when you two were laughing together, him being fully able to lean over and kiss you when he wanted, because he could. These moments made his heart happy, and he wished that he was artistic or could write, because he would paint this moment or write a song for you, just to remember the exact feeling he had.
He didn't know why you chose him out of every other person in Jersey, or every other person that you knew in this world, and he still couldn't wrap his mind around it.
"Have fun at work!" He called out, and then you were rushing down the stairs and out of the house. And then you saw him two hours later when he swooped into your job saying that he was "on a grocery run for milk" even though it was a complete lie, but you went along with it anyway.
there is a potion in your lips, so sweet, i'd die there is an ocean in your hips, so deep, i'd dive i hear an opus when we kiss that completes my life yeah, i think i got one and every single little thing about her is so overwhelming everything about you is so overwhelming when i think about you, it gets overwhelming 'cause everything about you is so overwhelming come over here and overwhelm me
That was the word that Chris used to describe you, to describe the relationship as a whole- overwhelming.
Overwhelming could be used to describe you after a night out when Chris was holding back your hair, or holding you back in general as you were tempted to, in your words, "start swinging." Overwhelming could be used to describe feeling Chris had as he held your hand, yelling out the lyrics to Queen's It's Late. Overwhelming was the word that described you the most compared to Chris' past. Overwhelming was the word to describe the feeling in Chris' heart as he held you close, and wrapped his arms around you.
Chris always wondered what good he did in this world to deserve someone like you.
You were his shoulder to lean on, his source of entertainment when he felt like technology was against him on certain nights as you done anything to make him laugh. You were the person who introduced him to new things in life like music, food, feelings, and places. You were the person who pulled out the good inside of him. You were the person Chris was completely and utterly infatuated with, or at least that was what his mum and sister, and even father, said. And over everything, you were his best friend.
Each day was a new day, but you were still his everything.
Just the thought that Chris could kiss you when he wanted, could hold your hand, could lay beside you as you fell asleep, was overwhelming. And Chris never told you about any of those things, until he finally said those three words.
"I love you." He whispered as you looked up at the fireworks bursting into the sky with a range of colors. You turned to him and felt your heart skip a beat as your eyes met. "I love you, and I want you to overwhelm me for the rest of my life."
