SystemsGo Rockets 2024 is in it’s final hours of prep before the first launch with T-0 set for early Tuesday morning in Jal, New Mexico. After launches on Tuesday and Wednesday in Jal, action will transition to the second venue in Jacksboro, TX for the Northeast Texas Launches on Friday and Saturday. Central Texas Launches are third on the docket and will open in Stonewall the first week in May…

Night Ride ✷ The besom, better know as a broom, is one of the most common objects associated with the witch today. It is one of the few tools symbolic of divine balance as seen in the phallic handle and the feminine bristles. Brooms held cleansing properties both literally and symbolically, having long been implemented in folk magic practices for purification, wholeness, fertility, and protection. In addition to cleaning one’s house, the broom was used to cast circles and create sacred spaces, move stagnant energy, and acted as a convincing disguise when witches had to hide their wand for fear of persecution. This simple tool was further embedded in the witch archetype when the concept of the infamous flying ointment was popularized in the 15th century. It is said that witches would smother their broomsticks with the hallucinogenic flying ointment and absorb it’s properties when sat upon nude, although this theory is still very much debated. ✷ Traditionally, brooms were made of three sacred woods: Ash for the handle, Birch for the bristles, and Willow for the binding cord. Ash trees exude masculine energy and are known to hold sway over the elements, whereas Birch trees are feminine, bringing purification and drawing spirits into one’s service. Lastly, Willow binds the masculine Ash to the feminine Birch as it represents fertility, as well as intuition, visions, and divination. Here, in ‘Night Ride,’ three witches ride besoms through the moonlit sky. I recently completed a mural for SEPTA Regional Rail at 17th and JFK Blvd. in Philadelphia. This mural is part of renovations to Suburban Station. My mural celebrates the joy of riding trains. People ride clouds of steam from an old Pennsylvania Railroad Baldwin train. To all fellow Potter fans, I will see you at platform 9 and 3/4’s This project developed through The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (Muralarts.org), Athenian Razak (Athenianrazak.com) and a digital image of the mural was printed and installed by Roe Fabricators (Roefab-usa.com). The figures and parts of the train were painted then scanned. Friday marked the end of the Texas Rocket Trail for Rockets 2023, as the second and final day of launches in Smith Point boasted good weather and a steady line of rockets coming for testing.
