I don’t need and ID on the bug itself (I’m pretty sure it’s a palmetto weevil / Rhynchophorus cruentatus) but I was wondering if you could identify the pinkish lumps on its mouth area. there are a few between its head and body joint, and some on its butt area. From what i could tell from my own research, Palmetto Weevils don’t carry their eggs like that, so I’m assuming its a parasite of some sort. area is southeast Florida.

Yes, it’s a palmetto weevil. They’re phoretic mites, so they don’t feed on the beetle itself, but beetles with heavy mite loads tend to have shorter lifespans.

They can vary in color a bit, some can be more black and they can get completely black :0 but! I think you would be this specific pattern. I think you would be this species cos weevils are so silly and weird and you are also silly and weird (AFFECTIONATE♥️) also they’re red and black. Your colors!!!! Admittedly sometimes they can look more orange but I could only find so many good pics of the specific pattern that I think you would be LOL.
