Ahsoka: The vibe in here has been such a downer lately, all the others feel so tense and moody. I can't get Rex to go anywhere for fun.

Zeb: Yeah, Kal's been all dark and grumbly the last few days and 'Bine wont come out of her room.

Chopper: Whomp Whumpp, Whop

Hera: Chop, why would zapping Ezra make him feel better? But you're right, Kanan's been napping a lot too.

All: *Grumble*

Ahsoka: ......Wait, doesn't sunlight boost serotonin levels in humans?

Kanan: *Being dragged out of the Ghost* Hera, please be reasonable.

Hera: Nope, you are banned from the ship for the rest of the day.

Okay, there was so much beauty and nostalgia and tribute to TCW/Rebels fans in this episode that I can barely begin to process it all. So, so much. And I loved every moment of it. I am not normally someone who is moved to tears when watching TV. But this episode got me. You know where?

When Ahsoka took that clone's hand and he reached over to cover her hand with his. That was it. That was what made me love Ahsoka in the first place. She saw each and every one of them as precious. And then when she looked up and Rex was there behind Anakin, I lost it. Because in the end, he was the only one who never failed her, and she never failed him. This episode reminds us how much she loved Anakin and how badly he broke her. He betrayed her. He killed her. But she always held on to a scrap of hope. And I truly believe that it was Rex who saved her. She saved him from Order 66, but he saved her from becoming lost in her darkest moment.

So, even though it was a few words...even though it was just a few seconds of screen time...even though the scene wasn't perfect because she still looked 12...

It took my breath away. It made me ugly cry. Because these two people, right here, are the heart of soul of Star Wars to me.

Rewatching The Clone Wars and thinking about THEM

I don't know when it happened, but these two became the heart of Star Wars to me.

Rex - A ten year old boy speed grown and trained to look and act like a twenty year old man (who looks closer to forty thanks to the terrible animation of the first season).

Ahsoka - A spunky fourteen year old girl who thinks she's ready for war from day one.

In their first interaction, Ahsoka tries to establish their dynamic, assuming that because she is a Jedi and he's a clone, she outranks him. Sadly, she's not wrong. But when Rex tells her his opinion that experience outranks everything, she accepts his reasoning, and eagerly jumps in to gain experience so she can earn her place.

Jump forward three years and they have become equals in every sense. Their friendship and mutual respect for each other is unshakeable. This is what the best relationships are built on. They are timeless. Years filled with pain, hurt, and loss can stretch between them, but when they see each other, they pick up like not a day has gone by...always holding each other up.
