Republicans in Oregon are seeking to reinstall the first person ever expelled from the state's House of Representatives.
"Former state Rep. Mike Nearman has emerged as his party's top choice to retake the House seat he just lost," Oregon Public Broadcasting reported Saturday. "Nearman garnered the most votes among local Republican party members who'd assembled Friday to choose nominees for the now-vacant House District 23. The four-term lawmaker was expelled from the seat earlier this month, after video footage emerged showing him planning a Dec. 21 incursion into the state Capitol by right-wing demonstrators."

The protestors attacked the police and used pepper spray.
Nearman willfully endangered the lives of those officers, along with the lives of his fellow lawmakers and Capitol staff. Although the original video of the Republican opening the door was pretty damning, a new video has emerged that leaves no doubt that the storming was planned.
Newly surfaced YouTube video shows Nearman giving instructions to his constituents on how to breach the Capitol building, step-by-step, in a scheme he calls “Operation Hall Pass.” During the in-person and live-streamed event on Dec. 16 gives his chuckling audience guidance on what to text him, where to stand, and how to get in. He knows what he is doing is illegal, which is why he intersperses his instructions with coy language. He says he will deny knowledge of the scheme, and claims he’s just rattling off random numbers—which happened to be his cell phone number.
The Oregonian broke the story.
“We’re talking about setting up Operation Hall Pass, which I don’t know anything about and if you accuse me of knowing something about, I’ll deny it. But there would be some person’s cell phone which might be” and he recites a phone number beginning with 971.
Nearman was speaking to an anti-union group called the Freedom Foundation, which is funded by billionaires such as Charles Koch and the DeVos family. And as we all know, his instructions were followed five days later, during a special session on Dec. 21.
Tumblr media
Democrats in charge of the legislature have already stripped Nearman of his committee assignments, and forced him to give up his badge to access the building.   He’s been asked to resign, but has refused. The Oregon GOP is, as expected, deadly silent and complicit, just as national Republicans have been about Jan. 6.
Nearman also faces criminal charges.
This video compiles the Dec. 16 plotting and the Dec. 21 breach.

Additionally, during the Freedom Foundation plotting event, Nearman explained the best day for the breach, saying “Monday, you’ve got one crack at it there.” The anti-mask maniacs ultimately stormed the Capitol during a one-day special session, held just before Christmas … on a Monday.
Don’t for a second think that these conservative traitors aren’t above promoting violence to stay in power. As sick as this was, state Rep. Nearman is nowhere near as crazy as the current crop of Republicans in the nation’s House, like Reps. Jim Jordan, Louie Gohmert, Mo Brooks, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.  In what reality would someone think that any of these people would be “above” giving  advice and tours to insurrectionists prior to Jan. 6, which they have been accused of doing?
The truth is going to come out, and it isn’t going to be pretty.

Oregon state lawmaker Rep. Mike Nearman (R) was charged last month with first-degree official misconduct and second-degree criminal trespass for opening the back door to the closed state Capitol to allow Covid-restriction protesters to storm the building. Nearman has claimed that he didn't intentionally open the door to let them in, but a newly surfaced video shows Norman telling people about "Operation Hall Pass," which involves opening the back door for protesters to enter the Capitol.

The incident happened when lawmakers were debating whether to extend the state’s eviction moratorium and other COVID-related funding. Outside, demonstrators had gathered to protest the state’s COVID restrictions. Video shows that as protesters breached the building, they fought with Oregon State Police and Salem police who tried to push them back. The police were ultimately overrun by the protesters — some of whom were armed with guns — after they sprayed police with a chemical substance. The protesters then made their way into the vestibule, where they were met by police who were ultimately able to contain the situation and remove them.
GOOD! Now charge the Sedition Seven from Washington DC who gave tours ahead of time to the Jan 6 insurrectionists

"The Oregon House of Representatives voted yesterday to expel right-wing Representative Mike Nearman, who helped plan and assisted a breach of the state Capitol by armed, far-right protestors. Rep. Nearman was seen on security cameras opening a side door for the violent demonstrators on December 21 of last year as lawmakers were meeting in an emergency session. By that point, the crowd had broken windows, scuffled with police, and assaulted journalists. The final straw was a leaked video that showed Nearman actively planning “Operation Hall Pass” just days before the breach, instructing a group on what door he would open and how to reach him.
It’s good to see an instigator of a Capitol breach be held accountable for their actions, and a pertinent reminder that no one responsible for fomenting the U.S. Capitol insurrection has been held responsible. We don’t even know the full extent of the involvement of Trump, Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz, and so many other powerful people — and yet Republicans are already trying to whitewash those tragic events and force us to move on. The need for an independent commission to expose the full truth, and ensure those responsible face consequences, is more necessary than ever.
That’s my view. What do you think?"

The decision to charge Nearman follows a months-long investigation by state police that began Dec. 21. As lawmakers met in a special legislative session to take up COVID-19 relief that day, surveillance footage showed Nearman exiting the locked Capitol building into a throng of protesters who were trying to get inside the statehouse. In doing so, he appeared to purposefully grant entrance to far-right groups demanding an end to ongoing restrictions related to COVID-19.
Shortly after that breach, demonstrators scuffled with state troopers and Salem police. One man is accused of spraying officers with bear mace, allowing the crowd to make their way further into the building. Several people were arrested before the Capitol was cleared, and members of the crowd went on to shatter glass doors and assault journalists outside the building. Nearman, meanwhile, promptly walked around the building and entered on the opposite side.

Oregon’s Capitol was and is closed to the public due to the pandemic, although journalists are allowed inside to report on proceedings and the meetings are streamed live and archived online.
The demonstrators, many of whom were unmasked and some of whom carried rifles, objected to the state’s coronavirus restrictions and sought to disrupt the session underway. State troopers and Salem police ultimately prevented them from entering the building’s rotunda or reaching the House or Senate chambers, but not before some of the rioters allegedly sprayed six troopers with a chemical substance that was reportedly pepper spray. The video shows spray being deployed.
Some demonstrators physically attacked journalists who were reporting on the event. At least one person was arrested after trying to enter the Capitol by breaking the window in a door. People also gained entrance without breaking in — and this security footage shows exactly how.
At least two people have so far been arrested on charges related to the breach on the morning of Dec. 21.
House Speaker Tina Kotek said on Thursday that legislative leaders were exploring how they could sanction any lawmaker who aided rioters in forcing their way into the Capitol on Dec. 21. Oregon State Police are investigating the incident, she said.
House Republicans never responded to a request for comment on the incident Thursday.
