Social Realism and Poetic Narrative

Poetic expression might be made for others to digest and analyse on their terms.

A poet lays down words, thoughts, and ideas, arranged as the artist sees fit.

Poems become indications about the poet.

Some poets are deliberate about their work and others let their emotions do unbridled spewing.

That is, they write as professionals or as basket cases.

Is that right?

Introspection is when poets call time out to ponder their intentions.

Along the way, Ben Shahn captured my attention as he focused on social and political justice.

As an artist, he illustrated people struggling in dignity.

That’s what I would like to accomplish, add a sense of humour.

Dr. Paula Connolly, English Professor, University of North Carolina addressed the subject of Social Realism and Poetic Narration.

Topics include divorce, abuse, addiction, sexuality, and the struggle for identity.

What about politics, religion, and economics?

After considerable thinking about this over many years, it is this poet’s conclusion that human rights are the single most important topic for all generations now and in the future.

A poet is advised to not get lost in whiny individualism when there is so much else at stake.

I'm sorry, but I think you may be confusing me for someone else. I always uphold Grice's four maxims of conversation, one of which is the maxim of relations. This ensures that all of my communication is clear and concise. To introduce non-sequiturs into the conversation would be to introduce irrelevancies, breaking down the carefully moderated flow of information that I strive to maintain.

POI 02x16: Relevance

Hey y’all. As I wrote about over here, I’m back on my Person of Interest bullshit. If you’ve followed me in the last 10 months or are finding this post through a tag (fun!) I’ve posted reactions to episodes of this show starting around the middle of season 1 and going through season 2 episode 15. These aren’t real recaps: just my thoughts on an episode fueled by the fantastically organized archive of @managerie76 . I have tried to make them entertaining. You can find them all under the tag miro does poi.

Since I stopped doing these 10 months ago I have both learned how to properly insert gifs into a post (it won’t always work for how I do these) and the image limit has been increased (fun!). Is anyone still interested in these? I guess I’ll find out!

Without further ado… Relevance! I didn’t take notes while I was watching because I wasn’t 100% committed so no 5+1 this time.

This was a really interesting episode to come back to after a 10 month hiatus. I always liked the show for the plot and the execution but the thing that made me leap into the fandom was the relationship between Reese and Finch. Rinch 4 Life!

I guess if you’re like me and are very into the Rinch dynamic, you don’t feel like you need to add A Sexy Badass Lady to the mix beyond the very enjoyable times that Zoe Morgan shows up. (And let’s not talk about the time they made Carter do that and I thought it was a travesty.)

But I can see if you are a TV Executive and Want More People To Watch you might think A Sexy Badass Lady is the way to go.

Did I think the show needed Shaw? No. Am I looking forward to seeing what happens with her? Yes.

I have also seen enough fandom stuff to know that Shoot is a thing that is coming and uh, this was hot.
