They're theories on Reddit as to what emotion does Strawberry lady represent and some people suggest it's anger. And if that's the case, that would be quite interesting
Previously we had Miley's joy and Safalin's sadness. And both of these emotions were used in Maple fight. But the most dangerous state of Maple wasn't when she was happy or sad. It was when she was angry. If strawberry lady is indeed representation of anger, it would be cool foreshadowing that she's the final and most challenging, not to mention perilous, obstacle.
On the other hand, there's one more person (or, rather, a doll) who could fit the bill for anger thing. Rio Ranger was jealous toward humans, which made him callous and rude. His AI in the third chapter is literally named "Angry AI". Moreover, his actions were the deadliest for participants: he killed Yabusame for no reason. In such case Maple's emotions would be more of conclusion to what state was the most dangerous among the ones already encountered.
Technically though, his name doesn't have pun on anger specifically, unlike "Smiling" Miley or "Tears are falling" Safalin (in Japanese puns were relatively the same). Then, he's not connected to theme of food as much (maybe it's just because he's guy, and he still has ice cone). Plus, he's not a person, he's a doll, while Miley and Safalin are humans (although strawberry lady can be doll too and we don't know her name yet). Miley, Safalin and our strawberry lady just have same vibes I would say.
In conclusion, whether it's strawberry lady who'll be angry or it was Ranger's theme only, it ties perfectly into Maple's three emotions, combined with joy and sadness

laying and bed kicking my feet dreamily cause i love my boyfriend and im gonna infodump about how much i love him
weve been dating nonstop for 8.5 years. he was my first partner ever. he asked me out via tumblr fan mail back when that was still a thing. i genuinely sometimes question if id have ever realized i was trans if i didnt have him in my life. he likes idol rhythm games and kidcore aesthetics and one piece and queer theory and midwest emo music and theatre and poetry and mixed media art and plushies and his moustache that he worked so hard to grow out and his weird haircuts that im always hesitant about but they always grow on me cause i love him and they make him happy. ive recently done a lot of introspection since we started doing a lot of ENM/polyamory stuff and i think ive realized that im honestly just a lesbian with how intensely im attracted to other trans girls but that doesnt matter in regards to my boyfriend because he was, is, and always will be such an important part of my life and makes me so happy that i can't imagine my life without him in it. his body feels so comfortable and familiar pressed up against mine in bed and even if his snoring is really loud i never go sleep in the living room. i am attracted to him in a way that transcends romance and sexuality. he calls me a dyke and a faggot and a tranny in exactly the right way to genuinely make me laugh. we have a cat together. he gave himself a christian name specifically to piss off his reddit atheist dad. i let him complain to me about his shitty coworker and his family and whatever internet discourse is bouncing around his head. his fursona's a cat. his middle name is named after a grateful dead song. he has so many keychains and charms on his car keys that you could beat someone to death with them. he likes littlebigplanet and pokemon mystery dungeon and i think he's just about the only person in the entire world who could explain the onceler fandom in a way that actually makes it sound cool. he is my prince and i am his knightess. his stepdad is japanese so he likes japanese food a lot. his favorite color is yellow.
i love him so so so so so much.

Izanagi tries to get his wife back - The Kojiki and Persona 4
Yeah idk this is tl;dr.
The Kojiki is like a collection of ancient Japanese tales that talk about their deities and the creation of Japan. The first 13 or so parts of the Kojiki concern Izanagi and Izanami, which are names you should recognize from Persona 4.
The birth of the gods
Izanagi and Izanami reside in the celestial realm. They are given a spear called Amenonuhoko (Per the P4 artbook, this is also the name given to the spear that the protagonist's Izanagi holds). From the heavens, they use the spear to stir the sea and create Japan, with the first island they made being Ongoroshima. From the celestial realm, they cross to earth on a bridge.
Izanagi and Izanami have a ton of children. 2 of their children are Ohoyama and Kayahime, who in turn give birth to Amenosagiri and Kuninosagiri (the fog from the heavens and land, respectively). It's thought that these two represent the barriers between heaven and earth. Like when it's foggy and you can't see the mountains, it's because Amenosagiri is hiding the mountains from you. Them being fog deities probably drove the decision to have them appear in the game as antagonists and boss fights. The kids lift the fog and uncover the truth... by actually beating up fog deities.
When Kagutsuchi is born, his flames burn Izanami and she dies. Izanagi buries her on Mt. Hiba. Izanagi's mourning tears create a water goddess, Nakisawame. Kagutsuchi is the identity of the being in P4U2 who is using Sho. Nakisawake isn't in Persona 4 but she does show up in other Megaten games.
In his grief, Izanagi murders Kagutsuchi with a sword, which is probably why Narukami and Adachi's combo attack in P4U2 that they use to defeat Kagutsuchi is described as being sword-like. The thunder god Takemikazuchi (Kanji's first Persona) was born from Kagutsuchi's blood splatter.
(EDIT: Ah, I had forgotten about this. As ue pointed out, the weapon you get for the protagonist from the Reaper is a 10 bundle length sword ('bundle' is an old measurement), which is a reference to the type of sword that Izanagi uses to kill Kagutsuchi. The specific 10 bundle length sword that Izanagi uses was called Amenoohabari, but I don't recall that specific name being brought up in the game?)
(EDIT 2: I had to go check this, but in the English game the protag's Reaper weapon the "Blade of Totsuka". So, to clarify, "Totsuka" is the part that means "10 bundles long". I get why they tried to make it sound like a sword name.)
While the scenario isn't 1:1, I believe when you're given the option to kill Namatame after Nanako dies is the game's version of Izanagi murdering Kagutsuchi. Do you give into rage and grief, and walk the same path as the mythological Izanagi? It's by straying from the myth and convincing your friends there's still something left to uncover that Nanako makes a miraculous recovery. It's like "Japanese mythology but you're built different".
Izanagi's journey to Yomi
Izanagi turns into that Reddit post about, "I would do anything to have sex with my wife one more time", so he journeys into the underworld called Yomi. While Shinto doesn't really have a heaven or hell, Izanagi gets bad vibes from Yomi and he accumulates impurities while he's there. (I spoke a bit about how Japanese people view Yomi in my pilgrimage to Yomotsuhirasaka post.)
Izanagi finds Izanami and wants to bring her back so they can continue making Japan. At first, she refuses after eating the food of Yomi. But since Izanagi came all this way to get her, she decides to talk to the ones who rule over Yomi. She tells Izanagi to wait for her to return and not snoop. Izanagi gets impatient while waiting for her, so he goes against her wishes, breaks off a tong on his hair comb, and uses the tong as a torch. The bamboo comb in Marie's social link likely comes from this part of the myth. The characters even talk about how it holds the meaning of "separation".
This flame illuminated the truth that Izanami was trying to hide from Izanagi: She no longer held the form of a woman, but a rotting corpse. In the game, this is represented by the orb seeing through Izanami and showing you her true corpse-like form. Izanami's corpse contained 8 gods such as Ohoikazuchi and Kuroikazuchi. Both get referenced in Persona 4 as moves used by Izanami. All 8 were said to be thunder gods which is probably why Izanami blocks thunder during her boss fight. Sorry Kanji.
Izanagi no longer wishes to tap that (he's a coward tbh), so he tries to flee from Yomi. Izanami gets upset that her man didn't listen to her and is also walking out of on her. In response, she sends the Yomotsu Shikome to chase after him, which also appear in Persona 4 as a Fool-type Persona. Izanagi manages to distract Izanami's minions with peaches, which might be why you can find Peach Seeds in random chests in Persona 4 dungeons lol.
And this brings us to the next "Japanese mythology but you're built different" moment with Marie and the Hollow Forest. Through the entire dungeon, Marie tries to tell you to stay away from her. Her narration through the dungeon is about how she puts up a front to keep people away. When you meet up with her on the last floor, she tells you who and what she really is. But unlike mythology and despite her constant "leave me alone", the protagonist doesn't run away even after finding out what Marie really is. You're able to bring her back to reality.
Izanagi gets divorced
Izanami takes matters into her own hands and confronts Izanagi at the slope leading into Yomi called Yomotsuhirasaka. In Persona 4, the protagonist dreams of being in Yomotsuhirasaka and fighting a mysterious figure at the beginning of the game. Later, the protagonist and his friends go there to confront Izanami on the final day inside the TV. In Persona 4 Dancing, it's also used as Adachi's dancing stage to represent that he's dreaming.
Izanagi uses a gigantic boulder to block the slope so that the dead can't wander out of Yomi. Because of Izanagi's foolishness, Izanami threatens to kill 1000 humans per day. Izanagi replies that if she kills 1000, then he'll just make it so that 1500 are born each day. And this is where the cycle of life and death comes from.
Izanami saying she will kill 1000 is why the Izanami in the game has the move called "Thousand Curses" that deletes your party members. To counter her "Thousand Curses", the protagonist creates Izanagi no Okami using the bonds he forged with the people of Inaba, and uses the "Myriad Truths".
In Japanese, this move is called "Tens of Thousands of Truths", so the number scaling is to counter Izanami using a skill called "Thousand", while also amping it up way past the 1500 number that Izanagi gives her in mythology. When Narukami uses his instant kill in P4 Arena, one of his voiced lines references the cycle of life and death while changing the number from myth again: "A thousand die, ten thousand are born".
This is also a "Japanese mythology but you're built different" moment. The Izanagi of myth was unable to accept the truth in two ways: He was unable to accept the truth that Izanami was gone, so he ventured into Yomi. And when confronted with the truth of Izanami having turned into a corpse lady, he ran his ass out of Yomi. But our protagonist - Bowl Cut Boy, Yu Narukami, Gigachad Ziodynecock - has uncovered the truth, accepted it, and then jumped back into the TV to confront it. Hell, we're even outdoing the mythological Izanagi just on statistics: The mythological Izanagi could only counter Izanami with the birth of 1500, whereas the protag and his harem can apparently give birth to 10,000 per day.
Izanagi takes a shower
After parting from Izanami, Izanagi goes to bathe because of how many impurities he acquired during his time in Yomi. From the impurities that wash off his body, he creates 2 new gods named Yasomagatsuhi and Oomagatsuhi. Per a Japanese resource about the Kojiki, the difference between the 2 isn't really clear. Oomagatsuhi is treated as some sort of god of "really bad shit is happening", disaster, misfortune, bad vibes, etc.
These two Magatsu entities are treated like gods who bring about disaster and misfortune and such. After ridding himself of the impurities, 3 new gods are created to mend and purify whatever the Magatsu dudes mess up. 2 of the 3 were named Kaminahobinokami and Ohonahobinokami. "Nahobino" and "Magatsuhi" probably look familiar if you've played SMT5.
The association between "Izanagi acquiring impurities in Yomi" and "Izanagi washes the impurities off and it forms 2 gods with 'magatsu' in their names" is where Adachi's Persona, Magatsu Izanagi, gets its name. The in-game compendium describes him as Izanagi's counterpart who ruins everything. Given the context of the myth, I get the mental image of him representing Izanagi specifically during his time in Yomi. Or an unpurified Izanagi - an Izanagi who really needs to take a bath.
Adachi probably also needs to take a bath, let's be real. Him having Magatsu Izanagi still in the fighting game just means he hasn't taken a bath yet during his 5 months of police custody.
Izanagi creates even more gods as he purifies himself, with the last 3 being Amaterasu (Yukiko's 2nd/3rd Persona), Susanoo (Yosuke's 2nd/3rd Persona), and Tsukiyomi (Sho's Persona). There is also the Haraedo no Okami (Chie's 3rd Persona), a term to collectively refer to a bunch of other seemingly unnamed gods that Izanagi created in the process of purifying himself.
The Izanami who masquerades around as the gas station attendant seems to represent an Izanami who is a result of the myth being played straight. To pair with her, Adachi seems to represent the Izanagi of mythology. The game happens because he uncovered the truth about a woman (Mayumi), she didn't fit the image he had of her, and he didn't take it very well. This isn't 1:1 with mythology (as was with Namatame and Kagutsuchi), but I think the game's version of Izanagi's rejection is how Adachi's months of accidental hijinks influence Izanami to think that humans don't want to see the truth.
However, after the initial bit with Mayumi, Adachi's role in the story feels like it correlates more to Izanami. See the "Bonus Round" at the end of this post.
The Hare of Inaba
There is some additional mythology that's also in the Kojiki and takes place after the creation story. It's kinda helpful to understanding the area where Persona 4 takes place.
The town being named Inaba comes from the Hare of Inaba. You might recognize the name as a demon in other SMT games. One of the characters in the myth is Okuninushi, and he has a bunch of brethren that are collectively known as the Yasogami. Aside from naming the town, I believe this is the reason why Namatame's delivery truck is a parody of Yamato that says "Inaba Ta-Q-Bin" and very specifically uses a rabbit logo. Also why the protagonist goes to Yasogami High.
"Yaso" is a string of letters that has come up a couple times by now. Okuninushi's siblings were the "Yaso"gami, one of the Magatsu duo was called "Yaso"magatsuhi. This doesn't mean these are all connected, though. "Yaso" is an older word that means 80, but it's more like expressing a plurality. Like how in English, we say "there are one billion Persona 5 spinoffs" as hyperbole for "many".
I don't think it's supposed to mean anything particular in Persona 4, though something like Izanami's "Fury of Yasogami" move could probably be read as "Fury of the Gods". And since the protag and his friends have various gods as their Personas, Yasogami High might as well be "Highschool of the Gods". Maybe Yasoinaba means there's a rabbit problem in the area lol.
Princess Kaguya
There is another myth that is nice to know for Persona 4 Golden, and that is the Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, aka Princess Kaguya which is not related to the Kojiki. Kaguya is also the name of the ultimate Persona of the Aeon arcana, and it's a very fitting choice for something related to Marie. Like in the story about Kaguya, by completing Marie's social link you are giving her a longing and attachment to mortals. There is a saying in Asia about how it looks like there's a rabbit on the moon and Kaguya is a moon person, so this is likely why the Kaguya Persona has rabbit ears. And the rabbit imagery kinda ties Marie back to Inaba due to the association with the Hare of Inaba.
Bonus Round: Another Izanami has entered the building
I believe that the protagonist's relationship with Adachi can also be correlated with Izanagi and Izanami even though Adachi is an Izanagi user himself. Like how Izanami tries to hide the truth about herself from Izanagi and how Marie tries to send everyone away and get them to quit caring about her, Adachi also hides who and what he really is. He has covered himself in lies and bullshit.
When you corner him in December and he jumps into the TV, the subsequent plot to merge the TV and real worlds seems to be a result of him thinking he has nowhere left to go. He is indeed a criminal who has done a little murder, but he's incorrect in assuming that he has nowhere left to go. Despite the protagonist knowing he's a murderer, you can still continue to reach out to Adachi by meeting him inside of the TV by yourself. Dojima also shows him an act of kindness after you beat his ass. This continues into P4U2 as well.
I think the good and true endings represent the protagonist seeing the truth about Adachi and not running away. And then also going the Marie path by trying to help him. You are symbolically dragging Adachi out of Yomi and purifying his mental when you take him out of the TV. Perhaps kicking and screaming, and also into a jail cell, but yeah.
In the Accomplice ending, the protagonist has seemingly been fooled by Adachi as he looks back on the memories he has of him from his social link. Like in myth, as the fire revealed Izanami's true form to Izanagi, Adachi's crazy face shows itself after the fire from the lighter. Unlike in myth, the protagonist doesn't run away.
However, unlike the good endings, Adachi also doesn't really get better in this ending, the truth about the murders never comes to light, and it's uncertain if reality is screwed or not. Perhaps it's a protagonist who, rather than dragging Adachi out of Yomi, is now metaphorically stuck there with him. You skip a few social link ranks and instantly max out the Clown/Jester social link and gain the ability to fuse Magatsu Izanagi -- not because you've come to an understanding with Adachi, but because this is now your life too!
The Birth of DDS:MT
Lastly, as some trivia: the author of "Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei" (the novels that led to SMT and eventually Persona), Aya Nishitani, recently tweeted the following regarding the creation of his novels:
Tumblr media
As it turns out, "Japanese mythology but you're built different" is in the game's family lineage.
---
Anyway, the major takeaways from this are:
Adachi is woman-coded
Adachi hasn't bathed in 5 months

Preliminary Considerations - Which Vocal Synthesizer Software is Right for You? - Free Softwares
Although this blog puts a major emphasis on the VOCALOID 4 editor, it, or VOCALOID in general, is not the only vocal synthesizer that exists. There are tons of other software that have the same function and a variety of different voicebanks, with some being cheaper and of higher quality than VOCALOID, or even free! That’s right, there are quite a few free vocal synthesizers out there (however the lack of frills may come at the expense of some missing features or difficulty of usage), which I recommend trying out before pouring your hard-earned savings on a program that you may not even use. What if you learn that you do not enjoy tuning or do not have the time to use the software? It would be a huge waste of money that could be invested in other stuff, such as basic necessities (GOOD FOOD) or other leisurely items, like video games, clothing from your favourite bands, art supplies, or merchandise. In addition, there has been a rise of a lot of smaller companies coming out with vocal synthesizers with incredible UIs that not only look appealing but are easy to navigate, and voicebanks that sound far too human and advanced than hATsUnE mIKU (don’t worry, I love Miku with all my heart, I am just trying to prove a point here). There are also some really sick features that you may not find in the franchises with bigger names.
In this post, I will be describing the features of different free vocal synthesizers and their advantages and disadvantages so you can find the one that meets your vocalo-p needs. Please note, I do not own all of these synthesizers, some of these are from reviews on Reddit and VocaVerse Network. In addition, some cons like lag could just be a me problem and better computers may not experience such issues. Also , I will not be covering every single singing synthesizer in existence, just the well known ones and those with proper UIs because there are so many. I am omitting NEUTRINO because it does not have a UI despite having such high-quality vocals, along with ALTER/EGO, as it does not have a piano roll.
UTAU
Tumblr media
(Song: Meltdown by iroha(sasaki); UST: Tanjiro Taidana)
UTAU was designed to be the free sister software to VOCALOID. Not only can you use it without spending a cent, but it allows you to make your own voicebank as well! There are tons of popular voicebanks out there, including the Vipperloids, Gahata Meiji, Kohaku Merry, Matsudappoiyo, Denatsu Sora, Shuu Mawaine, and my personal favourite, SUZU.
Pros:
Almost every single voicebank is free to download
Different types of voicebanks (CV, VCV, CCVC; Monopitch vs. Multipitch; Power, Weak, Soft, Whisper, Growl, Screamo; tons of languages)
Can make your own voicebank right in the software
Pitch bending on the piano roll instead of a parameter box!
Variety of job plugins to make usage easier
Credited for its growl and vibrato handling
Cons:
EXTREMELY dated, UTAU has not been updated since 2013
Not friendly for beginners, especially due to its old UI
Need to change your system's locale, and installing voicebanks can be frustrating
Most voicebanks (namely Japanese) can only read Hiragana phonemes and not Romaji ones; but job plug-ins can fix this issue
youtube
Open Utau
Tumblr media
(Song: The Lost One's Weeping by neru; UST: Tanjiro Taidana)
If UTAU is the sister software to VOCALOID, then Open Utau is the younger sibling to normal UTAU. Open Utau is an open-sourced vocal synthesizer on GitHub with every feature in the original software while being easier to use.
Pros:
Dark mode with a sleek, easy-to-navigate UI!
Pitchbend with a click of a button; piano roll tuning is still consistent
Splice tool; useful for note-bending
No need to switch locale to Japanese
Easier to get the hang of
Frequent updates
Can use VSQXs and svps. without needing to convert them into USTs
Cons:
No Defoko…
Choppier and buggier than classic UTAU
Slow with rendering wav. files and launching the software
Phonemizers are tricky to work with, you don’t always get the same output as the same phonemizers in normal UTAU
External resamplers can cause overheating and slow down the software
Tuning is more dependent on job plugins than the original UTAU
Many users claim that otoing is easier in classic UTAU

SynthesizerV Studio Editor R1
Tumblr media
(Song: Tengaku by Yuuyu; VSQx by Adam Edmond)
This preliminary edition of SynthesizerV was a major breakthrough for the vocal synth community when it was first released. With its realistic-sounding voicebanks and minimalistic aesthetic, this software has changed the game by a landslide for synth users. Although it's quite limited, R1 was an amazing start for what will become a godly program in the future. Pros:
Pitch bending on the piano roll and in the parameter box (very smooth, I experienced no lag when using it nor did I have to make pitch points or pause while editing the parameters)!
Voicebanks sound quite human
MIND BLOWING GLOTTAL EFFECTS (nine different growls, two screams, and a vocal fry that do not sound robotic!)!
Really simple UI, easy to pick up, great for beginners!
Cons:
Outdated; is no longer being updated by Dreamtonics
Needs a recording license for commercial use (though I highly doubt it is still being upheld)
Only four voicebanks are available; Eleanor Forte, Yamine Renri, GENBU, and AiKO - who is paid and an outdated version of her R2 voicebank (R2 versions of the same voicebanks sound much cleaner and realistic)
A little too minimalistic; aside from the addition of glottal effects and the typical pitch deviation, loudness, tension, breathiness, voicing, gender, and vibrato parameters, there is not all that much you can do in this edition of the editor
youtube
SynthesizerV Studio Basic
Tumblr media
(Song: Antibeat by Deco* 27; UST: Mayu Sama Desu)
Also known as SynthV R2, this is the free edition of the software that is currently being updated, despite having fewer features than its complete, paid version.
Pros:
Ready to play with as soon as it is installed
Twenty-five free voicebanks; sixteen Japanese, seven English, and two Chinese; all with unique sounds
AI voicebanks!
Instant mode; allows you to automatically tune the pitch of an entire track with the press of a button, although it may make the voice sound too pitchy
Waveform that allows you to see the volume and pronunciation of certain notes
Can use paid voicebanks in the free editor!
Just as easy to figure out as SynthV R1!
Cons:
Can only have a maximum of three vocal tracks in a single svp. file
Pitch bending is a lot more finicky compared to SynthV R1
Lite voicebanks sound mono-pitch
Lacks a ton of features that are available in SynthesizerV Pro; scripts, auto-pitch tuning, rap vocals, cross-lingual synthesis, vocal modes, alternate phoneme choices, and many other features are not included in the basic edition (even paid voicebanks can not use cross-lingual synthesis, vocal modes, etc)
The glottal effects parameter that was in SynthV R1 is sadly not included in both the Basic and Pro editions of the current program
youtube
VoiSona
Tumblr media
(Song: iNSaNiTY by Circus-P; VSQX: Cirty_09)
Previously named “CeVIO Pro”, VoiSona is a vocal synth that uses AI technology to create beautiful vocals with characters that originated from a variety of other vocal synthesizers (such as VOCALOID!) and are created with the recordings of talented singers and voice actors. CeVIO project has also launched a trial speech vocal synthesizer called “VoiSona Talk” for their first anniversary.
Pros:
Users get Chis-A’s full voicebank upon downloading the synthesizer!
The program itself is entirely free to download
AI technology makes tuning easier
Piano roll pitch-bending
Has some features that are missing in its sister software, CeVIO AI
The “husky” parameter is great for making whispers
Can be used as a VST plugin in most DAWs or a standalone editor
Cons:
All other voicebanks are paid; either you purchase the entire voicebank once, or get a subscription to use all of them
HEAVY LAG; the program is quite slow with processing commands
Free-hand pitch-bending is not as easy to perform compared to UTAU or SynthesizerV; can be quite sensitve and the AI may not always yield the desired result
youtube
DeepVocal
Tumblr media
(Song: New Darling by MARETU; UST: Mimisan15)
The successor to the Sharpkey Galaxy software, this vocal synthesizer was designed for Chinese voicebanks. Its UI is a combination of VOCALOID4 and UTAU, giving it a sense of comfort and familiarity. Speaking of which, you can create your own voicebank in DeepVocal as you can in UTAU and OpenUtau, and there are some pre-made voicebanks of popular UTAUs, including Namine Ritsu, Inari Akane, and Kuro Bousuka. In addition, there is also a Kiana voicebank commissioned by MiHOYO and based on the protagonist of Gun Girls Z and Honkai Impact 3rd!
Pros:
Ready to use as soon as its out of the box
Great engine for Chinese voicebanks
Can create your own voicebank
Runs smoothly
Has all of the necessary parameters needed to create songs and covers
Cons:
Voicebanks can be kind of shaky, choppy, and more sensitive to pitch changes compared to other engines like UTAU and VOCALOID
Pitch bending can be quite clunky
Voicebanks may have difficulty reading certain phenomes from converted USTs; you may need to edit them if you don’t want lyrics being read as “a” or “ra”
youtube
These were all of the major free softwares I found, but if I come across another vocal synthesizer in the future, even if it is not talked about in the vocal synth community much, I may make a post about it.
I know there are a ton of cons I found for much of the vocal synths on this list and they sound like nitpicks on my part, but as I stated at the start of this post, some of these issues could be a Shimmer Thing™ and they may not arise for you when using these softwares. I won't be surprised if you read through this post and are now feeling thrown off by the various features and pros and cons of these programs, so here's my two cents on what I think beginners should go for:
If you like realistic voicebanks and want a very simple software to start with, get either SynthesizerV Editot (R1) or SynthesizerV Studio Basic (R2). If you would like to experience them (spicy) glottal effects and very kind pitchbending (like it does not make you want to bash your head against the wall because Renri won't cooperate) along with unlimited vocal tracks, then try out R1, and if you want more features, voicebanks, and continous updates, go for R2. Or even better, try out both and decide which one suits your interests better.
If you have a preference for robotic voicebanks, would like a variety of vocals to play with, and find plug-ins interesting, then UTAU may be for you, especially if you want VOCALOID but you can not afford it at the moment. Although I shitted more on Open Utau than I did on regular UTAU, I recommend the former over the latter as it is still being updated and the UI is signifcantly easier to navigate, along with its phenomenal pitchbending function.
Finally, please take my words with a grain of salt. If you like the voicebanks or are interested in a specific software, or discover one that is even better than any of the listed vocal synthesizers, by all means, go for it! This is just a surface guide by an idiot who spends most of their time trying to make Fukase not sound like a computer dying, and I have not used any of these softwares as much as I have messed with VOCALOID. Plus, my computer is an absolute bitch, so you guys will probably have much better luck than me.
I hope this guide was of use and provided a better insight on the various engines out there. My next post will compare different paid vocal synthesizers, including CeVIO AI, Piapro Studio, and of course, the various VOCALOID softwares. Don't worry, I'll get to the actual tutorial bit very soon.
Also, feel free to ask any questions about vocal synthesizers, or... literally anything! I'm practically starved for asks-
Thanks for reading!

What does the camera guy think about the wall art, scrolls, and swords that Yoshi has casually hanging around. Or the original hand crafted silk fan that he used to cool down dumpling snacks for his kids on an authentic Kamakura era plate? What does the article say when it comes out? Does Yoshi get a bunch of calls from museums afterwards asking to see his furniture, and then Yoshi is just like “you can look at the stuff I have in storage” and they all lose their fucking minds because there is EVEN more stuff in storage that Yoshi doesn’t have in the house because he doesn’t like it because some of it doesn’t match.
Okay now to be fair Yoshi Hamato's culinary ability is very VERY limited. He can scramble eggs and make sandwiches and keep kids fed- but his culinary ability is pretty much making huge batches of food a gym bro would eat.
(Mikey as he gets older is the one who starts getting good at traditional Japanese dishes, and Yoshi hesitantly gets involved to let him know what he remembers from his teens and childhood.)
I don't think Yoshi would let anyone go through his storage! For all he is very flippant about his family heritage, he knows that there's people out there who do take the spiritual nonsense seriously, and he keeps his homelife pretty private. He does interviews, and will maybe do a house tour if someone asks- but the important stuff is put away in storage, and there's no way he'd be letting random people in there.
It's not like he's going to sell anything, he doesn't need the money. But there's definitely people who keep an eye out on social media etc. as a sort of idle interest hobby, and probably spot one or two heirlooms that would go for a killing.
Here's some reddit memes that happen after the interview though:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also when it comes to the camera guy, I was (hopefully) trying to portray the fact that A: Donnie is starting to get more comfortable talking to strangers as he gets older (even if it's just whispering) and B: Donnie was shyly interested in the camera guy because he had a big cool looking machine on his shoulder. Like when your cat is inexplicably obsessed with the cable guy, or electrician.

L’aventure de Canmom à Annecy - Mardi
or, the real Annecy starts here.
Tuesday was nuts! I saw so much stuff. I have cracked the code.
So, if you wanna know what Annecy is like, I can’t possibly present it better than La Cachette, who made this sponsor intro that plays before every movie...
youtube
Imagine everyone shouts “lapin!!!” when the rabbit appears and also when the rabbit gets eaten by the T. rex. But yeah: the sudden rainfall, the paper planes flying around, pop pop pop.
Anyway, Tuesday was crazy, I saw so many great movies, with some real surprises too! I wrote about them all below~
It’s interesting to think about like. Annecy traditions are this sort of free floating wave. The cohort of people who go to Annecy each year is constantly rotating (as different students graduate etc.) but there’s enough overlap to pass on these traditions, much like at schools with the ‘cool S’ and paper fortune tellers and other parts of, you could say, ‘child culture’.
Anyway, the day began with an expensive hotel breakfast (food is so expensive in Annecy) followed by queuing up for another crack at The Concierge...
Tumblr media
Despite arriving around 2 hours early, we never stood a chance. Also it started raining. I did nevertheless manage to draw the queue in front of me, but it was very rough.
Failing to get in to that, my friend decided to queue for Lonely Castle in the Mirror while I went off to the VR hall again to make some early registrations. This time I watched I Took A Lethal Dose of Herbs by Yvette Granata from the USA.
Tumblr media
This one was made in Unity (I could tell because it didn’t load properly at first and I was clipped into the floor and saw the default Unity skybox lmao) running on a Quest 2 via Quest Link. It puts you in the body of an anti-abortion activist who goes through post-partum psychosis and then, becoming pregnant again, attempts suicide, before finally accepting an abortion.
The presentation is essentially a non-interactive VR horror game. At one point your legs get eaten by hallucinations of demon babies; another part sees a room gradually transform into a deep-dreamed variant. As a horror film, it was kinda neat. The credits announced “based on a true Reddit story” which kind of knocked me flat lmao. It was entertaining, but I don’t think it really hit the impact intended.
Tumblr media
After that, with bookings locked in for two more VR films, I scooted back to join my friend in the queue for Lonely Castle in the Mirror directed by Keiichi Hara, who I wrote about a bit back on Animation Night 137. This time Hara has A1 Pictures rather than mighty Production I.G. behind him, but it’s still absolutely a nicely drawn movie; the composite is more restrained than the above image might make you think.
This turned out to be a screening with only French subtitles, so I got some unexpected Japanese listening practice. I definitely didn’t pick up every detail, but between the visuals, the Japanese audio and the subs I was pretty much able to follow the plot. And a good plot it was! An assortment of teenagers are transported each month through mirrors into a mysterious castle, overseen by a girl in a wolf mask, which provides them all a refuge from their various difficulties at home.
Our viewpoint character is a shy girl who has gone hikikomori after bullying by a group of schoolgirls, and is hurting from the lost connection to another girl. As the story unfolds, we learn more about what happened to her and the other characters; meanwhile the kids hang out in the castle, gradually forming connections.
The castle is like... well diegetically there’s no question it exists, but it’s the kind of magical thing that reflects the character’s emotional struggle. The climax of the film involves a wolf stalking the castle and devouring the children, which is basically a suicide metaphor, and Kokoro going into the castle to attempt to save everyone.
Even with French subs, I ended up enjoying this movie a lot.
Following this my brother came into town on his way to Portugal for a family holiday next week. I met up with him and we had some tasty noodles. We split up again, him going to check out some of the old buildings of Annecy, me going back to the VR room...
where I discovered that if an Annecy juror shows up to watch a VR film, your slot gets cancelled, so I didn’t get to see From The Main Square. But I did get to see Shadow by David Adler and Ole Bornedal from Denmark and the UK.
Tumblr media
This one turned out to be really fucking good. It’s an incredibly intense semi-interactive movie in which you play the part of a bomber navigator on a morning raid. Your job is to confirm the target so the pilot can blow it up, but with the fog, the sea, the movement of the plane and battle outside, it’s a lot easier said than done.
This film does a fantastic job of building tension in the runup to the attack. The interactions between your character and the pilot are acted very well, and the sea and mist outside - rendered in Unreal - is properly sketchy to fly through. You confirm the target by using head tracking to look at a yes/no input, and I was fully caught up in trying to make sure we hit the right building and didn’t get shot. Such a tense film, and honestly kind of a vindication of the VR format. I hope there’s something else as good in there.
Following this I scooted over to see the short films collection 4. This turned out to be a great choice: there were very few misses and a lot of plain great films. Also I guess this was like where they put all the gore and nudity lmao, but who knows, I’ll have to see other short film selections.
Haljina za finale dir. Martina Mestrovic presented a sweet picture of the day in an old lady’s life, in which she dyes her dress black and reminisces about the past.
Tumblr media
Salvation Has No Name dir. Joseph Wallace was a really cool stop-motion film, making really creative use of old woodcuts along with its puppets, about a refugee who washes up on the shore of a paranoid village and a prevaricating priest who tries to protect her, tries to have sex with her, and takes her newborn child and pushes her away; it’s all presented by a circus troupe who are also the villagers attempting to cover their ass for what they did. There’s some really neat devices of presentation - e.g. the refugee woman speaks English same as the villagers, but diegetically they’re speaking different languages. The metaphors are pretty on the nose, but it’s really nicely shot and tense.
L’Ombre des Papillons dir. Sofia El Khyari is a more abstract one, a very beautifully painted erotic dream with a lot of morphing and transformations (particularly things turning into butterflies). Really nice use of texture in this one.
Tumblr media
Wild Summon dir. Saul Freed and Karni Arieli is where things got really nuts. This is like. The most photorealistic hard vore guro film I’ve ever seen lmao. So like the idea is it’s like, a nature documentary on the life cycle of salmon, with all the beautiful shots of landscapes and rivers you’d expect, but with the twist that all the salmon are anthropomorphised to humans in wetsuits and masks (as you see above). These anthro salmon then die horribly in all the ways salmon tend to, at the hands of both animals and humans.
Our main character is a salmon who gets tagged with a tracker by some scientists; this allows her to be thrown back in the water when caught by a fishing trawler for example. The voiceover is by Marianne Faithfull doing an effective old posh british lady voice (I sorta wondered if it was Judy Dench). If this was an actual nature documentary it would be a really beautiful one, but the anthro thing adds an amazing surreal edge.
This one was filmed in the UK, and it’s definitely leaning on the big VFX industry we have over here. Absolutely fascinating film honestly.
I’m Hip, solo animated by American John Musker and comped/edited by Talin Tanielian, was also a delight. Just four minutes of really strong lively traditional animation as a cat sings a self-aggrandising song before getting chased out of town; old-school in a good way.
Tumblr media
Daug Geresnis dir. Skirmanta Jakait was the one that lost me, though I imagine if I saw it with English subs I might get more out of it (I saw it in Lithuanian with French subs). I really like the visual style, but the film was a sort of incomprehensible chain of surreal images and I didn’t really know how to put them together.
Tumblr media
Drijf dir. Levi Stoops from Belgium wrapped up this collection. This one leans hard on the grossout humour - I’d compare it to something like Savage Death Valley or to a certain extent Lloyd’s Lunchbox. A man and woman are stranded on a calm sea, rowing around on a log, suffering a series of increasingly awful injuries in their misadventures. It’s definitely a ‘bodies, fucked up right?’ sorta movie, and it was a fun bit of black humour, hearing the audience go ‘ooooh’ when something nasty happens.
I had set my reservation today for ‘The Soldier’s Tale’ but I had planned things out really stupidly and had no time to say goodbye to my brother and see that film. Instead we went round the comic shop I talked about last time. It was good to see him and he seems to be having a good time on his trip across Europe.
Speaking of brothers...
Tumblr media
I decided to take a chance on Four Souls of Coyote dir. Áron Gauder. I didn’t know much about this going in, but the brief description on the site made it sound a little preachy, so I didn’t set my hopes too high. I was so wrong, this movie was actually maybe the highlight of the day!
This is a Hungarian movie based on (nonspecifically...) Indigenous stories, with the framing device of the story being told by an old man at the Standing Rock pipeline protests. The bulk of the film is an origin story for the world: Old Man Creator - not the top god in this situation - creates Turtle Island and fills it with creatures. In a dream, he creates Coyote, and mistreats him at once; Coyote, an obligate carnivore in a world that does not yet know death, steals the creation mud and creates humans
So most of the film then tells how, through a series of events, Coyote ends up complicating the idyllic scenario by introducing death into the world, and sexual reproduction, and inspiring the creation of lightning and fire before being betrayed by the humans he created, eaten, and on his final life, driven away. It’s a really interesting sort of mythological schema: even Old Man Creator doesn’t know the why of it all, and there’s this kind of idea that a lot of the way things work happened not by design but by mistake (perhaps according to the ineffable design of , and once something is created it’s irrevocably part of the world, so we just have to make do.
I have no idea what’s based on mythology and what was created by the Hungarians, but what makes this all work is the incredible animation. This is just a really really strong work of traditional animation, with fantastic colour and compositing to boot. It might genuinely be the best looking film I’ve seen this whole festival so far, which is nuts. There are all sorts of characterful touches in every shot, the magic is presented in a really elegantly straightforward way, and the whole story unfolds with a compelling degree of intricacy and tension, setup and payoff.
Coyote, the famous trickster, is certainly the main character of this movie. He’s a fascinating character; arrogant, quick to lie and in love with his own cleverness but also we can see his pride comes from the rough circumstances of his creation, where he’s chewed out by his creator from the get go and everyone pushes him away.
The second act of the story sees Coyote free the imprisoned lightning (who’s like. a kind of dragon creature ig?) and go across the sea, discovering the Europeans, who in this story come from the discarded clay that Coyote used as a first attempt at humans; seeking revenge, Coyote invites the Europeans back to Turtle Island, not realising the level of destruction they will bring, or that they will chain him up and call him a dog. Spending the last of his four lives, Coyote has a final face turn where he tries to save the humans.
There’s a bunch to be said about this movie, and once it gets a release I am dying to show it on Animation Night. Its treatment of gender for example feels a bit too rigid and traditional, with the archetypal Man and Woman as the main human characters. The Europeans are presented as getting their power from enslaving Lightning, which is a neat way to make the story centre on what happens on Turtle Island; however, the parable-like telling kind of ends up feeling a bit too simplified where the Europeans show up and destroyed the single (kinda Plains in visual presentation) Indigenous society with overwhelming military force, which is like... not really how it all played out, but it works for the presentation of this movie, where the invasion is kind of a coda to the main story.
The ending of the movie sees the workers, ordered to bulldoze a mountain for the sake of a pipeline, climb out of their bulldozers and join the protestors, with the CEO lady in charge impotent to stop them. In our more depressing reality reality the cops showed up and drove away the protestors by overwhelming force.
I have this much to say though because the movie was so good. But tbh this is just a British girl’s impression. I really want to get Araña’s opinion on this one.
Tumblr media
Not done yet, I went to see the student films, block 2. This turned out to be another amazing time: at the big screen in Bonlieu, even this late, loads of people were there and it was the most Annecy showing yet; so many paper planes flying about. Most of the students who made the films were present in the audience and after each film stood up so we could applaud them.
The films were also really good! There are some crazy talented animation students in this world.
Havnesjefen dir. Mia L. Henriksen, Konrad Hjemli (Norway) told the story of a swan known as the Harbourmaster, known for attacking boats in the Norwegian town of Os, who was put down after he started putting humans at risk. It tried a number of ambitious things with the animation: Roger Rabbit-like compositing into live action backgrounds, and Creature Comforts-like animating characters based on real interviews with random people. The result was rough, but pretty cute and effective.
Ressources humaines dir. Titouan Tiller, Trinidad Plass, Isaac Wenzek (France) was a wonderfully dark stop motion film about a guy going to have his body recycled into a chair. It really plays up the awkward everydayness of the scenario, with the documentary camera wandering around and the cheerful patter of the receptionist; the result was great.
Makulatour dir. Tim Markgraf (Germany) was fascinating: a bunch of fluid motions filmed through a microscope (I think??) edited to music. Absolutely absorbing, I have no idea how he did it.
Deniska umřela dir. Philippe Kastner (Czech Republic) is an autobiographical story about a boy whose dog dies, and how he comes to terms with it through art. It’s got a really nice monochrome textured style that made me think of paint on velvet.
Tumblr media
Bottled Insects dir. Yuxin Gao in Japan was where things got really nuts. This is traditional animation but not at all anime, incredibly textured and shaped creatures that sort of make me think Masaaki Yuasa and sort of make me think HYLICS. It portrays a girl who collects weird creatures, building up a massive wall of them in her room; it has an ambiguous mood (the blurb says it’s about her losing her sense of self) but a strong flow and just wild imagery. I loved this one.
Hobune dir. Jass Kaselaan (Estonia) was... I’m not entirely sure what the deal with this one was. Lots of odd military imagery and concrete housing blocks. A horse falls over and gets up. The drawing was very rough and line boil-y. But yeah idk I didn’t get it, it’s another one of those ‘disconnected surreal images’ type of ones.
La Nuit Blanche dir. Audrey Delepoulle was great though. Gorgeous paint-y textures and use of lighting, it shows people desperately trying to preserve their crops with burners as frost closes in. It made me think of Frostpunk, but much more grounded. Really tense and beautiful.
Tumblr media
Passagers dir. Celia Hardy from Belgium used a similar technique to The Wolf House, animating by painting onto walls and painting over each previous frame, mixed with stop motion. There wasn’t a lot of narrative but there was definitely a lot of very inventive movement, and in general it was really fun to watch.
Priyo Ami dir. Suchana Saha (India) was an abstract one, heavily textured paint, lots of morphing shapes... I can’t remember a lot of what actually happened in it besides the cunnilingus lol. But it definitely felt very personal and sincere, and I respect putting such a film in front of everyone.
Sewing Love by Yuan Xu (Japan) took the metaphor of a partner filling a void in your life to a very literal sense. A boy meets a girl who fills the gap inside him, but when she leaves, he becomes desperate, and restrains her, eventually physically sewing her inside his body. But inside her body she retreats into a tiny ball where she grows new butterfly wings and eventually hatches out. Big metaphors! But the animation was completely wild, with all sorts of morphing and weird perspectives, I can’t even imagine what the process must have been like. I didn’t like this one as much as Bottled Insects because the metaphor felt a bit overbearing, but I was really impressed by the animation.
My last film of the night was Unique Time dir. Yu-Jin Oh (South Korea). This film was crazy technically good, like you could tell me that Studio Mir made this and I’d believe you. The scifi premise is that there are androids who holographically take on the appearance of someone, used for all sorts of purposes; our main character is an android who develops a glitch causing them to create a unique face and identity. A photographer jumps on this as a chance to become relevant again, and the android’s face is soon plastered all over the city... and inevitably a line of mass produced clones is produced. ‘Jay’ (the name assigned by the photographer) is deeply disturbed to realise they’re still just a product, and gets in a very public fight with the photographer; afterwards, they are factory reset, but the glitch still persists... It’s definitely well within the familiar territory of cyberpunk stories, but the execution carries it - it’s hard to believe this is a student film.
By the time all this was done I had to walk back because the buses had become very infrequent, but damn, so worth it. What an amazing day. It took me more than two hours to write all this up lol, between that and catching up on sleep I’ve missed the whole of Wednesday morning rip.
Time to get out there and see some more films!! Annecy is amazing I really wish I could take you all down here.

So I found out that one of the streamers who was bullied for wanting to play hogwarts legacy was Pikamee, my favorite vtuber. She was harassed to the point of logging off and now she hasn’t come back for several weeks. And I want to talk about this because it made me realize something.
First, I myself am a closeted trans woman, so I have every reason to take trans rights issues seriously, and I do. I despise jk rowling and I share most people’s objections to hogwarts legacy. It upsets me how many people will still defend her and Harry Potter as a franchise.
Second, I really like Pikamee and still do. She’s a sweetheart and has always been inoffensive. She’s also half Japanese, living in Japan. I have no read on the Japanese trans community with regard to how they feel about hogwarts legacy, Harry Potter, or jk rowling. While I doubt they like rowling, my ignorance of Japanese lgbtq+ priorities gives me pause—it’s very possible that the problems with hogwarts legacy are lesser known or prioritized there, because of different concerns of different urgencies, and perhaps different cultural values at play. Pikamee is historically very careful not to offend her viewers, and because of the different situation in Japan, she may not have seen much or understood the issues surrounding the game—and I highly doubt the most vocal people bullying her were explaining them to her kindly, and we probably not her fanbase. I think that’s unfair. It highlights once again the extremely western and white-anglo priority of people’s objections—that what white anglos care about is objectively the most important and not up for debate, because it affects us. (Another example is how “Sirona,” a traditionally feminine and non-English name, that is not even pronounced as “sir” but “see-roh-nah” has been taken by this site to be a blatant instance of transphobia.) This all strikes me like we’ve decided that playing hogwarts legacy is against the Trans Commandments, and if you play it you’re sinning, no matter who you are, where you’re from, or what your situation is. I think it’s rigid and unfair in a moralist sense, and is quite similar to how religious people harass non-believers.
Next, a valid point is that “people were mean to me for playing a video game” and “people won’t listen to us and our lives are at stake” are of course not equivalent situations. The latter is far more serious and urgent than the former. So how could I compare this scenario to religious moralist harassment when the harm they cause is not even remotely equivalent? Well, for one thing I think it’s the methodology that’s similar and not the effects—I think the moralist attitude is a holdover from western Christian rigidity, and is morally problematic.
For another thing, and this is my most important point, the awareness that we are trying to raise hasn’t provided us any material benefit whatsoever. Our material situation hasn’t improved at all. More and more anti-trans legislation gets passed, jk rowling is still rich as sin, transphobes are still harassing us; the systemic forces keeping us down and oppressing us are no weaker than they were before. But hey at least we stopped a sweet Japanese girl from playing an offensive video game, right? We did it, reddit tumblr! But actually nothing has changed (except maybe now MORE people hate us??), our lot has not improved, no one has listened to us, and transphobes celebrate hogwarts legacy because they know we hate it. Is this the victory we were hoping for? Was our conquest worth it? Did our online inquisition root out all the sin in those nasty streamers? Did we finally prove once and for all that consuming certain pieces of media is inherently immoral?
I’m over it. People can play the goddamn wizard game if they want and I’m not going to give them shit for it. Instead I’m going to put my transgressive energies to good use somewhere else. An online utopia where everyone follows all the made-up moral rules still doesn’t put food in my fucking mouth when no job will hire me because I’m trans. Fuck this.

emillia as the moon to priscilla sun
Priscilla’s connection to the sun is a bit more obvious. She’s literally nicknamed The Sun Princess after all. She uses a blade made out of fire hotter than the typical, wears bright red clothes, and has orange hair. Even her pupils are a bright yellow-orange like the sun.
Priscilla as a ruler can be viewed like the sun as well. She is known to bring great prosperity to her subjects from afar. However, those who get too close to her may be burned by her harsh temperament.
In Japanese mythology, Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, is commonly associated with fertility and growing crops. This is the very first thing she becomes known for after becoming ruler of her domain, as she helped her subjects grow their crops.
Amaterasu is also connected to pride. When she caused her brother Susanoo to go on a rampage and destroy a lot of heaven and earth she fled to a cave in shame. This caused the first winter, a very harsh period at the time.
To draw her out the other gods threw a party. In curiosity, she drew closer to the entrance only to find a mirror. Her own reflection would be what finally drew her fully out of the cave.
Amaterasu, as queen of heaven, the gods, and creation, is also associated with the idea of powerful women and female rulers. Another contrast worth mentioning is luck. As Priscilla says, the world itself bends to always suit her. She often finds herself on top even without much effort of her own.
some reddit comments I had seen in regards to sun and moon
and why its emillia and priscilla
There are a lot of scenes in re:zero where the moon is a center point and Reinhart just happens to be in a few of them.
Secondly it's fairly certain now that the moon represents Satella, the most blatant hint being that in Mimigau if the male version of Satella is named Luna.
Most of the legends and fables you mentioned regarding the moon fit Satella just as well:
The story of the rabbit on the moon tells that one day the man on the moon came down to earth and disguised himself as a beggar. When he asked four animals for food, three were able to provide some. But the rabbit was only able to give him grass.
Impressed by his self-sacrifice and generosity, the man saved the rabbit and brought it back to live with him on the moon. That’s why you can see the outline of a rabbit on it today.
Because of this, the rabbit and the moon represent charity and self-sacrifice. These obviously are core facets of Reinhard’s character.

The rabbit in the moon:
Tappei mentioned that if Emilia would be an animal she would be a rabbit, since she and Satella are similar in appearance I'm going to assume she would be the same
The rabbit jumped into the fire to feed the man, but the man saved the rabbit. Satella wants Subaru to kill her and he wants to save her.
Tsukuyomi:
wants to bring order, but create chaos. Satella went mad and destroyed half the world, but before this we know from Arc 6 that Volcanica knew her and were friends. Also Hoshin in Isekai Quartet said that he and his friend wanted to save the world.
Yin and Yang:
The moon and lunar energy represents Yin and so does shadow magic which Satella is a great practitioner of.
BUT I do believe that Reinhart is actually both the sun and the moon, as in I think he represent the concept of balance/perfection. He has the best of both worlds Yang attributes: strength, courage, tall build, red hair; Yin attributes: discipline, charming, beauty, blue eyes.
Reinhart himself in the story is mostly a reactionary force. If a calamity like Puck is unleashed he is there to stop him to bring back order and balance. If he is lacking in any way he receives a blessing to fill that void.
It also makes Priscilla looks even more like rival to Emilia. If Emilia and Satella share symbolism then we get:
Fire vs Ice (Emilia)
Sun vs Moon (Satella)
Yang vs Yin (Satella)
Arrogant capable noble vs foolish kind village girl
Both were born to be loved by the world.
Those two share so many opposite traits it almost looks like Pris was the original rival before story took proper shape.
( the person means love rival
