Happy 2024 Fic Challenge!
@jandjsalmon and I are here with the new fic reading challenge for 2024! Heck yeah! Jandy did most of the work this year, I'll be honest, and the new challenge looks great!
For the uninitiated, basically there's a bunch of tasks to complete as you read fanfiction over the year. For example, read x number of authors, read a new ship, read a fic with x in the title, etc.! It can be a fun way to challenge yourself, or to help you read more, or to discover new things you might never have tried!
But here, without further ado...
2024 Fic Reading Challenge spreadsheet
There are also two fic trackers you can use (or you can create your own, of course).
Jandy's Fic Tracker
Juulna's Fic Tracker
Remember that for any of these spreadsheets, you need to 'make a copy' for your own use. Otherwise you won't be able to edit anything!
We have a pinned post with all the important links, but I'll include a couple here for ease of access.
We have a Discord!
We also have completion badges every year, and here are last year's as an example. (They are adorable.)
And, of course, there are rules (with a helpful FAQ).
Anyone is welcome to join, even if you don't hang out with us in the Discord! And the whole challenge is done on the honour system. You say you completed Extreme Mode? I ain't checking that out! :P
Well, we hope that everyone has a good time with this year's challenge! We're as excited as you are. And remember: there's never a stupid question if you need to ask us anything. We do accept Anon asks, too. <3
Have fun reading, and here's to a great 2024 overall!

ever since I moved into my apartment last month, I feel so much more at ease - and don’t get me wrong, some things are still so much troubling but we all know that years of abuse and tears will not heal within a month of pure sanity. I know that this healing process takes time 🪐 reblog is ok, don’t repost

13 Moons Reading Challenge 2024 — Announcement
So it’s finally time for the announcement of the 13 Moons reading challenge for 2024. Another year, another list of prompts that will make your reading journey exciting. This reading challenge is created by me for the entire reading community. So if you love reading or are looking for a reading challenge to try for the upcoming year, then here is one for you.
Rules & Levels
The rules for this reading challenge are simple. First of all, this is just for fun so no need to feel pressured into doing anything or reading anything you don’t want to. You can also be flexible with the prompts if you choose to do so. The challenge will run from January 1st, 2024 and till December 31st, 2024.
There are a total of 104 reading prompts divided into 13 categories. There is a list of levels given and you can choose which level you wish to participate in based on your preference. The levels you can participate in are as follows:

For all my bookworm friends who enjoy tracking their books, I highly recommend ditching Goodreads this year and going all in on StoryGraph.
It’s a great, free app that lets you track books, rate them, mark them as complete or did not finish, and has a rating system much more nuanced than just giving 1-5 stars. It also provides trigger warnings for books separate from reviews so you can check the content without getting spoiled!
You can also set goals for yourself for the year, in pages, books, or minutes listened to audiobooks! You can also join other people’s challenges that include book bingos or genre challenges!
If anyone is interested in befriending me, my account username is the same as my Tumblr: pagesinmylife

I’ll be trying to read a gothic book once a month, but if I cannot fulfill that I’ll read a poem or a short story instead. I’ll be making a post soon of different options I’ve thought of!

{13/01/24} Day 0: Prelude to a series of insanity and sleepless nights
This is a bit of a blog series inspired by the Youtube channels emmie and Noor Victoria Barrage's War & Peace Reading journals except I'm reading The Count of Monte Cristo. This is probably the biggest book I've ever read on my own volition so I need to hold myself accountable to finish it. I haven't seen the movies or anything and know very little about the book but I'm on a mission to read most of the great classics and this is the most daunting one on my list. Expect insane rambling and some minor fits of panic as I try to navigate this behemoth of a book with size 8 typography. Also I will warn you that I will take my time with this whole thing, so don't expect this to be a reading marathon
I have marked some ideas of what I want to track and tab while reading but I may add or subtract some if I see fit
Also Im in the middle of an internship selection process so I won’t be able to read as much since I have to prep a case study for an interview, I really hope I get this job since it pays well and is an area I really loved from my major.
