#Ray Fisher is the better cyborg
fancylala4 · 9 months
Text
I really feel bad for Ray Fisher. Yeah, I admit that I think they should had casted another actor for Cyborg but you can tell how much he loved the role. He even fought hard for a cyborg solo movie. However, everyone but Zack was against him and they even cut his scenes in the justice league movie. In the end, Warner and dc fired him over some stupid bs. He was the only one on the cast of justice league who was actually a decent person. Ray deserved way better.

The reason I will always answer Marvel to the question: Which is the better film company? Marvel or WB?
Marvel:
Got rid of Joss Wedon
Dealt with problematic actors
Waited to officially fire JM until the guilty verdict was served
WB:
Kept Ezra Miller and Johnny Depp's ex wife despite the mountain of reasons to fire them
Fired Johnny Depp from FB3 as soon as the allegations hit and didn't even wait for the trial
Silenced Ray Fisher (Cyborg in 2017 Justice League) when he tried to speak out about Joss Wedon's horrid behavior
You guys can let me know if I missed anything for either side cause I probably did

Movie Redo: My take on Batman's Insurgency from The Snyder Cut
Tumblr media
While I was not crying out for more Snyder content, I was surprisingly impressed with Zack Snyder's Justice League. Yes, it is a long, and a little heavy on slow motion, but it had a vision that in my opinion, make his first two movies better. I don't think I connect with it in the same ways other do, but clearly it invokes passion.
While Zack Snyder's Justice League brought closure to a lot of DC fans, it brought a want for more from a lot of others, particularly in its closing scenes involving the Knightmare.
Tumblr media
This battle between Batman, heroes, and an evil Superman has been teased throughout Batman vs Superman and The Snyder Cut. While I don't think this will ever truly happen, I want to focus on one aspect of the film that boggled my mind, the team that Batman assembles.
Tumblr media
Batman assembles of team of heroes and villains to fight Superman, which in theory is a lot of fun and should be a team worth rooting for. However it is made up of (mostly in hindsight) some problematic stars and questionable choices in characters, none whom I believe could actually defeat Superman.
I want to go through the DCEU and make a team of heroes and villains that I think 1) would join up with Batman 2) would be able to put up a fight against Superman and 3) would make for an interesting movie.
Stipulations for myself are no heroes introduced after The Snyder Cut, as Zack would not have had access to them. So sorry, no Blue Beetle, no Supergirl, no Black Adam. But any heroes and villains introduced before then are fair game.
Tumblr media
I also want to generally keep the same types of characters that are on the team. Let's say two villains, two younger heroes, and two Leaguers.
First, let's look at who is staying:
Keepers
Tumblr media
Besides Batman, I only have the one.
I think having a Justice League member who remembers what Superman was like and to have Batman's back is a great idea. While I do love the Barry and Bruce relationship in comics and other media, Ezra Miller is not a person I can stand behind nor do I want to see in more movies for a long while.
Ray Fisher was done dirty by Warner Bros and Joss Whedon. He is a fantastic actor and plays my favorite character in Zack Snyder's Justice League. Bringing him along as both muscle and tech support makes sense. And given his technology being of alien origin, he may have a chance of actually putting up a fight against Superman.
In this film, I want Cyborg to represent the hope for Humanity. He has been taken over by something terrible, like alien technology, and has overcome it. Despite everything that has happened, Cyborg still believes they can save the world, and Superman. I think it would be a nice change of pace for the character and keep him at the heart of the film.
Now let's go on to the fun ones.
The Villains
Tumblr media
The DCEU has a surprising amount of villains to choose from when it comes to people who would join the team. While both Joker and Deathstroke are fun fan favorite characters, I think for this cast, we can do better.
While I love the idea of Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, he doesn't seem suited for a fight with the Man of Steel.
Tumblr media
Similarly, Jared Leto's Joker seems like a pointless nuisance at best. Having a crash wild card on the team seems fun, but wrong direction.
Let's start with the obvious pick.
Lex Luthor
Tumblr media
If we are doing a world where Superman truly goes evil, why not get help from the man who has been saying he would the Whole Time?!
I'm not a huge fan of Jesse Eisenbergs Lex Luthor, but in the post credits scene, he had seemed to calm down quite a bit, and seemed closer to the Luthor we know and love.
I still don't know if he entirely would nail it, but having Luthor on the team adds that same level of uneasiness Joker does while adding competence.
Luthor could have a chip on his shoulder with a lot of "I told you all" energy I love. And with his strong knowledge on Superman, and maybe a mech suit, he'd be incredibly useful against Superman.
Tumblr media
I think we missed an opportunity to further Luthor's involvement in this universe in a fun and interesting way, and he should absolutely be a part of this team.
Ocean Master
Tumblr media
While I did love the inclusion of Mera, I did not love the inclusion of Amber Heard. Having a violent Atlantean out for blood and vengeance for Arthur's death is a fun concept. Which brought me to his brother, Orm.
My hope is in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Orm comes to an understanding and love for his brother. If that were true, Superman killing his brother (and likely the world's oceans) would put him on a warpath with Orm.
I think Orm is one of those characters elevated by the actor playing him, Patrick Wilson. And given Wilson and Snyder have worked together, I think the collaboration is in order.
Tumblr media
I think Orm is a good middle ground between Mera and Deathstroke, filling out both roles all while bringing an angry, violent energy to the team.
Heroes
Tumblr media
While there are quite a few heroes in the DCEU, I tried to pick heroes Batman has not interacted with, or that would join his cause. Let's start with the bigger ask:
Harley Quinn
Tumblr media
If we want to match that chaotic Joker energy, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is the better way to go about it. This would be reminiscent of the Injustice Games where she goes good, following Batman's lead as his second in command.
She can represent how far both she and Bruce have come, having put aside their differences, even forgiving her for the death of Robin. While I know she's not the truest hero, we only see her as a protagonist throughout her films, and I'd like to keep her that way.
While I don't think she's the most useful in a fight against Superman, I think she still adds much needed humor to the bruting team. Plus, we can give her a Kryptonite hammer and boom, she's in the fight.
Tumblr media
I also want a character who can annoy Lex with her presence. I think those two would be at each other's throats the entire time.
And Finally:
Shazam!
Tumblr media
If there is one thing Batman is known to do, it's recruit a kid. While we can't have the Black Adam/Superman match up the Rock so desperately wants, we can have a more competent Billy Batson on the team.
As a hero with similar powers and magic at his disposal, Shazam would be the most capable in a fight against Superman. In this version, he has lost his Shazamily, and now hones the power of all of the Council of Wizards, making him the ideal foe for Superman.
Tumblr media
Batman not having an absolute tank on his team in the fight against Superman is insane. Shazam serves as Bruces back up plan incase they run into Superman. While he doesn't truly believe Billy can beat him, he thinks Shazam could sacrifice himself and save the others in time to come up with a true plan.
Levi can add comedy but mix in drama and sadness of his lost family. Levi's acting is often underutilized in the Shazam films, and under Snyder we may get some absolute gold.
Having a powerful Wizard, an Atlantean King, a Genius, a Motherbox enhanced Cyborg and one of the best members of the Suicide Squad on a team together led by Batman gives us not only a colorful cast of characters, but the DCEU a fighting chance against Superman.

I know I’m probably not the first person to point this out, but I still think it’s hilarious that the reason Steve got roped into this whole mess is because he went to Jonathan’s house to apologize for acting like an ass, nearly ended up getting killed by a monster, and later found out about the government conspiracy and the Upside-Down.

Frankly, I am not at all shocked at Joss Whedon's response. When the allegations came out against him, I expected one of two things to happen: Either he was going to stay silent and hope this all went away, or he was going to double-down on his behavior. Given the responses I've seen to his interview, he would have been better off keeping his mouth shut. That man is continuing to dig his own grave.
What disgusts me isn't just that he refuses to take responsibility for how hurtful he's been. It's how condescending and dismissive he is in that interview. It's how he takes passive-aggressive digs at the people who've spoken out against him. Claiming that he cut Cyborg's scenes in Justice League because Ray Fisher was a bad actor. Saying that Gal Gadot had misunderstood him because "English is not her first language." Blaming Zac Snyder for "tricking" Ray Fisher into believing that Whedon was racist against him. Claiming he's "one of the nicer showrunners that's ever been."
This is pretty common for bullies and abusive people: They are horrible and nasty towards others, and when they are called out for it, they either deflect responsibility, try to make it out like it's the other person's fault, or try to play the victim. Whedon had over a year since Ray Fisher's accusations to come up with a response, and this what he chose to say. That is so telling about the kind of person he is.
I have zero sympathy for Whedon. He has destroyed any goodwill at this point, and it is blatantly clear he does not practice what he preaches in regards to feminism. Here's to hoping he fades into obscurity.

How The Snyderverse Could Have Been The Perfect Counterpoint To The MCU
Tumblr media
Now that The Flash has released, as probably the last Snyderverse movie, with the exception of Aquaman, let’s talk about it. Let’s talk about how the Snyderverse could have been exactly what audiences needed right now. Especially given all the recent criticisms surrounding the Marvel Cinematic Universe, of MCU fatigue, as it was. All the issues that many had with the Zack Snyder-led DC Extended Universe, almost feel like the perfect relief for the Marvel Studios’ complaints right now. Now, I’m not advocating that one is better than the other, as this is not a Snyderverse vs MCU conversation. I’m more referring to the actual vision and plan that Snyder had going into the DCEU, and how it could have also existed with the MCU. And how audiences could have benefited from both co-existing with one another. Please note that the following may contain spoilers for all the DCEU films, from Man Of Steel to The Flash, along with many MCU spoilers as well. A Brief Recap Of The Snyderverse vs MCU As It Were Marvel Studios did the unthinkable in 2008 with Iron Man, and the first ever MCU post-credit scene that saw Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) mention the word ‘Avengers Initiative’ in an attempt to recruit Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) Solo movies of individual characters then culminated in a team-up movie in The Avengers in 2012. After that, the Marvel Cinematic Universe was born, changing the game for Hollywood in general. Always playing catch up, Warner Bros. then decided to start their own shared universe of DC Comics characters and hired Zack Snyder to do so. Starting with Man Of Steel in 2013, we now know that Snyder has planned out an entire saga of DC Comics movies, that the fans dubbed as the DCEU. However, immediately after Man Of Steel, the studio, WB, began interfering. They wanted to emulate Marvel Studios’ formula and rush to a team-up movie right away. Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Then shoe-horned an existing Batman without an origin story, but also messily showcased cameos by various other flagship DC characters. This movie then led to 2017’s Justice League, which is really where things fell apart. What Happened During Justice League? Justice League, which Snyder originally meant as a massive 3-part saga featuring Darkseid, become one of Hollywood's highly controversial film sets. Due to the poor critical and less-than-anticipated box office collections of Batman V. Superman, Justice League went from a trilogy to a 2-parter to a standalone movie, due to WB’s interference. Not to mention the studio reportedly losing confidence in Snyder.  WB brought in Joss Whedon, the man behind Marvel Studios’ The Avengers to finish and re-work Justice League after Snyder departed due to a personal tragedy. Under Whedon’s stewardship, the Justice League movie underwent multiple reshoots, the script and story changed, and the set became a toxic and messy place. Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has gone on to document all the toxicity, sexism, racism and culture of abuse on the set, calling out the WB leadership on his social media. While none of the other major stars of Justice League spoke out as explicitly, all support Fisher’s claims in one way or another. Following this crusade, even Whedon’s own past history of abusive behaviour surfaced as part of the #MeToo movement, seemingly confirming and supporting many other claims along with Fisher’s from years prior. Justice League failed to live up to any commercial or box office expectations. Comparisons To & Trying To Emulate The MCU Is What Killed The DCEU Looking back on all of this now, it’s a shame what happened to the DCEU. While we are on the cusp of a new DC Universe, the Snyderverse could have been exactly what we needed. Recent criticism of the MCU mentions how the 20+ movie cinematic shared universe feels more of the same. From the underperformance of movies like Thor: Love And Thunder and Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantummania, critics and audiences are clamouring for ‘different’. It’s not exactly MCU fatigue, but fans are tiring of the same formula of bright and colourful tones with generic jokes and underdeveloped villains, coupled with seemingly no stakes. Through the inception of the MCU, talented filmmakers have left projects due to being forced to work in a box. Others have had their unique styles become homogenized in the Marvel machine. But in hindsight, it’s the opposite criticism that ultimately killed the DCEU. Snyder’s dark and weary tone was either beloved or hated. There was no in-between. Audiences didn’t like how Man Of Steel ended, or that Batman and Wonder Woman now seemingly killed people. The lack of jokes or a light-hearted tone was one of the bigger complaints. Snyder’s hyper-stylized slow-mo action sequences became the thing of memes. Superhero movies didn’t need to be this dark or dreary or joyless, they said. WB either spent a lot of time trying to replicate Marvel’s success or interfered with Snyder’s vision based on these comparisons to the MCU. But maybe if this type of superhero movie was still being made today, it would’ve provided the perfect counter-programming for the MCU movies. How the Snyderverse Vs MCU Debate Should Never Have Existed If audiences could choose between the dark and dreary adult-themed DC superhero movie, versus the light and fun Marvel ones, both could have found a market to survive. Each could have provided a break from the other, finding audiences within their own niche with something to appeal to everyone. That’s kind of the problem with a monopoly or having no competition. There’s no reason to push to change things or do things differently. Zack Snyder’s DCEU was different. It went against the grain of the typical superhero movie, both in tone and approach. Fans initially complained that Snyder skipped Batman’s origin story in Batman V. Superman. But the exact same is happening now with Matt Reeves’ The Batman exploring the character’s younger days, while James Gunn’s DCU Batman will debut years into his career as a superhero with a son in tow. And while this seems like an exercise in futility, rehashing the death of the DCEU, I firmly believe if Zack Snyder got to tell his version of the DC Comics stories, in his own way without the studio’s interference, we could have had both the DCEU and MCU thriving today. Not despite, but because of each others’ existence. The Flash is now in theatres. What do you think? Let me know if you agree, disagree, or whatever else thoughts you want to share in the comments below. Or reach out to yell at me on Twitter at @theshahshahid. Read the full article

Robots/ Futuristic World Designs (1)
This list (along with the mind map that I posted in one of my previous posts) were my main research sources.
Tumblr media
Even though I have made several loose designs of robots (both on paper and digitally) , I still feel like I should explore the variety that already exists in media to get a better understanding of what makes a design efficient.
CYBORGS
A cyborg is a person that has been given mechanical elements that extend their capabilities beyond normal human standards.
Inspector Gadget.
Tumblr media
I. Gadget is a cyborg , part man, part machine, with thousands of high-tech gadgets installed in his body. I think this is one of the earliest cartoons to ever tackle the idea of a robot man and might be the source of inspiration for a lot of todays movies and games.
Terminator
Tumblr media
The Terminator is one of many cyborgs constructed from both machine parts and men. His appearance is mainly human, as he is covered with living tissue, hair but has robotic enhancements such as the capability of motion tracking, search modes, facial identification and recognition and has extensive vision enhancement capabilities including long range "zoom" (the T-800 can snap-magnify an image by around x15), motion analysis and "night vision".
I find this design to be a bit unimpressive to be honest. I do not enjoy the use of organic materials since I feel like it doesn't really add any kind of ''humanity'' to the character, especially with the Terminator's way of talking and moving in an almost artificial manner. I feel like the character could've looked like any other robot made of metal and plastic and it still wouldn't have made a difference.
Interesting enough, however, is that bionic medicine has been evolving greatly in the past couple of years. Medics all over the world have successfully accomplished several TAH (total artificial hearts) transplants since 2014.
Not only that but bionic prosthetic devices are now able to function in sink with one's mind, making it possible for medics to restore peoples hope and independence.
I think this is one of the greatest achievements in modern medicine. The idea of someone that has used a wheelchair all their life to be able to one day walk is astonishing.
Tumblr media
Cyborg (DC)
In his original incarnation, he was visiting his parents' lab when an experiment in inter-dimensional travel went awry. A monster crossed over through a portal and mutilated Victor, which led to his father turning him into a cyborg.
Tumblr media
I have always been a fan of Cyborg, especially his CN animated version. The topic of feeling isolated from the rest of the humans is something that was often seen as a big part of his character.
In an interview Ray Fisher reveal that Cyborg's biggest weakness is ''maintaining his humanity and not getting lost in his technology''
Blade Runner 2049
Tumblr media
A replicant was a genetically engineered, bio-enhanced person with para-physical capabilities, "composed entirely of organic substance," created for slave labour by Tyrell Corporation and its successor, the Wallace Corporation. They look like humans but depending on the model, some possess superior strength, speed, agility, resilience, and intelligence to varying degrees.
This one would not necessarily be considered a robot but the idea was way too fascinating to not add it in. The fact that they are 100% organic and look like any other human adult yet they still act as any other man made machine with 0 emotion responses or personal history is very chilling.
I think this is the direction that Orion Pictures should've taken with Terminator as well, as I feel it add a lot more to the unsettling factor than a robot with human skin.
Humanised Robots
Robots, especially in movies targeted for more than one audience group (i.e kids, teens and adults). These are some of the ones I found to be very family friendly and quite against the usual ''stigma'' that robots usually have in movies, which is domination or the wish of human annihilation.
Wall-E
The movie is a bout a little trash compacting robot finds the last piece of vegetation, a small seedling tree, which could change everything. After the  rampant consumerism and corporate greed has turned Earth into a garbage-strewn wasteland, the human race was forced to flee the planet and live in space on a ship.
Tumblr media
I love everything from the story to the designs in this movie. The feeling of loneliness and the way that wall-e collects all these random objects that he considers treasures but are just regular day to day things that humans take for granted is very powerful.
This really shows us how we are the problem and that the death of our planet was the product of our own doing.
Tumblr media
The designs are incredible. The fact that Wall-e and Eve are absolute polar opposites really makes them work so well together. While Eve has a white, polished body with smart minimalistic design, wall-e is dirty, looks more rugged and overall seems to be much older model than any of the robots we see which really shows how they come from 2 very different worlds.
I have designed a few robots myself (which can be found in other posts) and wall-e was a big inspiration for them.
The Iron Giant
The Iron Giant is a beautiful story about the friendship that forms between a boy and a giant robot alien. The story follows Hogarth who is desperately trying to hide his new friend from the army who only see him as a mindless war machine.
Tumblr media
This design is very different from any other I have listed. Since this movie is quite old (1999) the iron giant seems to fit a more steelpunk aesthetic than something you would usually see for a robot today. However, I still think it is one of the best robot designs in animated movies due to it's simplicity, consistency and scale which makes him feel so real and like something that could actually exist/have existed.
The message behind this movie is extremely important. In an interview Brad Birds said that The Iron Giant is a tribute to his sister Susan who died at the hands of her husband by gun violence.
The question that Brad asked himself was ''what if a gun had a soul, and didn't want to be a gun?' which reflects in Iron Giant's soft, gentle personality and how at the end he choses to sacrifice himself to save the people that were afraid of him.
Chappie
Chappie is a police robot made for any kind of security activities such as weapon handling, scouting etc. Throughout the movie he is growing and maturing as any human child would but at an impressive speed.
I really liked this movie. From the amazing design of chappie to the way they made him have the personality and pure innocence of a child. I think the contrast between the purpose of his creation, to be a police combat robot, and the pure wish of being with the human that he considered his mother is absolutely heart wrenching.
Tumblr media
Star Wars
I am not as familiarised with Star Wars as I am with the other things I listed but I still thought it would be a good idea to add the robots I did know.
Tumblr media
C-3PO Is a humanoid robot built and programmed for protocol etiquette and a constant companion of R2-D2 built by Anakin Skywalker. Just like the iron giant, he has a very industrial design made to what looks like bronze or copper which really fits the aesthetic of the franchise.
I never watched the movies, but I always loved the robot designs, especially the Walkers. The use of mechs and other heavy machinery in such old movies is pretty impressive.
Tumblr media
Love, Death and Robots (+review)
Tumblr media
XBOT-4000 Is one of the main characters in the first episode of LDaR. He along with his 2 companions, are visiting post apocalyptic cities in order to learn more about the history of the human race and how the robots began their uprising and started populating the new earth. Just like in Wall-e, here we see what the aftermath of our own hubris and egoism.
I just love the ironic humour in this specific episode. The way the robots use such a humanised vocabulary and slag words and expressions while also maintaining a very intelligent way of formatting sentences is very funny and clever.
All 3 designs are absolutely stunning but the one above stuck the most with me simply because it is the closest to what I had in mind for my own characters.
The animations and CGI are breathtakingly good and the fact that all the individual stories and short films were crafted by different studios from a range of different countries is an amazing way of bringing people together.
Futuristic Worlds
The same goes with the world/environment that you create for your characters. In a universe where technology has advanced to the point where we can have robots that look almost undistinguishable from humans, that world is more than surely extremely high-tech, modern and computer-dominated.
I have, myself, made a few concept artworks of what I think the idealised world for my characters would be . I have tried to create something that has clean, serilised buildings and scientific advangements, while also being environmentally friendly, which should suggest the humanity and life that still lives there, weather that life is organic/biological or not.
A very good example of that is the game Cyberpunk 2077. In this neon-y world full of artificial intelligence, people are obsessed with body bioware modifications. This game is an interesting mix between a lowlife, dystopian society and major futuristic advancements.
Tumblr media
I have always loved the Tokyo inspired night cities full of neon signs technology and art. As I mentioned above, I find the mix between a presumably dystopian world and a collapsing society a very interesting take on what our near future could be .
Tumblr media
Alita: Battle Angel is a very different take on the future. If Cyberpunk was a a dystopian world disguised to look like utopia, than Alita surely does not hide the fact that it is a broken world set to be the doom of humanity.
The combination of cyberpunk and steampunk aesthetics is very unique and quite more closely to what I imagine would happen if, at any point, out technology would advance to the highest level. A monotone, unpleasant world packed with buildings and insufficiency.
Tumblr media
Alita, herself, is a super advanced cyborg with the brain of a human girl. Her design is extremely peculiar to me. I find it fascinating how the directors created this character, that posses remarkable resemblance to a human, with the exception of slightly exaggerated features such as bigger eyes and smaller nose and mouth (this design choices might be influenced by the fact that Alita was originally a manga, which explains the cartoonised style) but which also isn't afraid to show the beauty that is a fully synthetic body.
Tumblr media
Ready Player One is pretty similar to Alita but still extremely different. In this world, humans live in small, rundown apartments and suspended houses that could collapse at any second, but which compensates with it's a ability of offering ( whoever can afford it) the chance of being instantly teleported in a virtual reality universe where everyone spends most of their days and live as different avatars. It became so popular that most of the people hot jobs there and sometimes even married the partners they found online.
Tumblr media
I really like this concept because it kind of relates to my own idea of a world where people are still trying to find happiness and live a semi-normal life despite the fact that they are more machine now than human.

Zack Snyder's Justice League
Determine to ensure Superman's ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Batman aligns with Wonder Woman to create a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of apocalyptic proportions.
I thought Zack Snyder was on to something with Man of Steel. I liked the direction he was going with but its execution was poor. Then we got the disaster that was Batman VS Superman, where Snyder completely ignored all the criticisms made with Man of Steel and made it worse. Thus causing Warner Brothers to have a major emergency meeting. After being fired and mass studio involvement, 4 years after the disaster that was the Justice League, we have finally arrived at the Snyder cut, which is better than the 2017 version, but it is still a mess.
The Snyder tries to do what 2012 The Avengers did, but with no setup. The film is overstuffed by trying to fill several years of setup over a 4-hour runtime. The story moves at an incredibly fast pace and does not allow the audience to absorb everything going on in this universe. Thus, causing the characters and their respected relationships and arcs to feel incredibly flat, with the exception of Cyborg. This is what happens when over half of your characters are introduced in this film. I was expecting so much more out of this film, but then again this is from Zach Snyder.
The acting in this film is a mixed bag to me because a lot of these actors aren't convincing me in their roles. Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Joe Morton, and Ciaran Hinds all did a great job with their respected roles; especially Fisher who gives the best performance in this film. However, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Ezra Miller don't convince me in their roles, if anything they feel miscast. Furthermore, it has Amber Turd so it's automatically a lose for that.
This being a Zack Snyder film, it has the classic Snyder visuals. The cinematography overall is very tinted and dark which I didn't really like, even though there were some well-shot sequences and visuals. The VFX is a bit of a mixed bag, some of it looking really good, others a bit rough. The score itself is good, however, it is very repetitive and overused. I will say the saving grace of this film was its action sequences which were a lot of fun to watch. Overall, I am glad that Snyder got to make the film he wanted to, but it also makes me happy that he is no longer in charge of the DCEU.
I am giving Zack Snyder's Justice League a C.

Justice League: Ray Fisher Deserved Better (and the Snyder Cut gave it to him)
(Just in case you don’t know Ray Fisher is the actor that played Cyborg in the Justice League movies)
I watched the Snyder cut of Justice League last week and a thought has been milling about in my head, and I felt compelled to write about it after watching a few video essays about the film.
In the original Theatrical Release Cyborg is kind of a nothing character, he’s just kind of there and willing to help. Aqua-man is kind of suspicious of him because he’s made of mother box, but nothing really comes of that. Cyborg in the Theatrical cut sucks.
I originally assumed that was because they didn’t really know what to do with Cyborg, he’s not usually a founding JL member, and as far as I know he only became a part of the JL in the comics somewhat recently, so while I was kind of left wanting more from the character I didn’t think much of it.
However after watching the Snyder Cut, I now know that they had plans for Cyborg to be an actual meaningful character in the plot, both for the plot of the movie as well as setting up future possibilities. He has a whole character arc with his relationship with his father, and a more integral part in the climax that the Theatrical cut completely cut out.
Knowing that the Cyborg story line was already there and was simply removed from the Theatrical Cut rubs me the wrong way.
Not to mention the controversy between Ray Fisher and Joss Whedon which I don’t feel like going into to, but goddamn.

I know WB did not just fire Henry Cavill on his fucking birthday and try to play it off as they did it as a move to be more diverse by saying they want Superman to be black. They're literally using black people as a scapegoat after everything they have fucking done to Ray Fisher. Oh, no, that won't fucking work babes I am PISSED
