In light of the recent attention WWC has received by the writeblr community, and the reception to our Guide to Academic Research—the mods have decided that we will temporarily reopen to your questions and test some important changes to the site! As you may have noticed, we've taken a much-needed break to catch up on our personal lives and restore our inspiration to answer the hundreds of Q&A that we receive. 

Once the submission window is up on Nov 30, we will evaluate how our new system is going, tinker some more, and reopen once again once the construction dust clears.

Are there really people out there who are so stupid poorly educated about female anatomy that they genuinely believe a vagina can be surgically created out of a man’s penis? They’re just playing dumb, right?

First of all, I think it should be established that female and male pelvises are quite different:

The female pelvis is wide and shallow with a pubic arch / subpubic angle usually ranging from 80 to 90+ degrees, while the male pelvis is taller and narrower with a pubic arch / subpubic angle usually ranging from 60 to 70 degrees. This obviously results in women having wider hips and a wider Q angle (Quadriceps angle):

Women’s pelvic structure allows for a greater range of motion in the hips (hence why women do better in gymnastics).

Because the female pelvis is designed to allow for childbirth, the pelvic cavity is significantly wider and rounder than that of the male. Also, in the male pelvis, the sacrum + coccyx (tail bone) projects further into the pelvic cavity.

A man’s 1) narrower pubic arch and 2) significantly less spacious pelvic cavity mean that a “vagina” would sit on his pelvis very differently than it would on a woman’s. (It also makes the idea of a TIM getting a uterus transplant and successfully giving birth absolutely ridiculous, but that's besides the point.)

Even if male and female pelvises were the same, a surgically-created “vagina” still would not be able to function anything like an actual vagina.

The vagina / vaginal canal is an organ lined with powerful muscles, and it is those muscles which give it the ability to expand and contract. A “neovagina” is not an organ, but an inverted pocket of penis skin (and sometimes, if there is not enough penis skin available, colon tissue). It is not lined with muscles, and thus does not have the ability to expand and contract. It’s just a stationary hole—which brings me to the next point:

The vagina is a self-cleaning organ. It naturally flushes out vaginal discharge (dead vaginal/cervical skin cells, vaginal/cervical mucus, and bacteria) on a regular basis to keep itself clean and healthy. No douching or dilating necessary. A surgically-created “vagina” obviously does not have that ability. When bacteria, fungus, pus, blood, and/or dead cells inevitably build up inside the wound, it needs to be manually dilated and cleaned out; a neovagina needs to be dilated (and possibly douched) every single day in order to prevent it from closing up (since it is literally a wound trying to heal itself) and to prevent bacteria buildup / the formation of fungus. Many men who have undergone vaginoplasties describe the daily dilation process as painful and tiresome, and many have also shared horror stories of disgusting smells, various types of fungus growing inside, and even hair growing inside. (Oh, and I'm sure it doesn't help that they also pee out of it. This probably doesn't need to be said, but women don't pee out of their vaginas.)

In the grand majority of cases, getting a vaginoplasty means permanently losing one’s ability to orgasm. It doesn’t take a genius to understand why. It isn’t naturally lubricating like an actual vagina. It doesn’t expand when aroused like an actual vagina. If just dilating the neovagina is painful, how do you think having someone thrust their dick into it would feel? Sometimes, the skin of the inside of the neovagina hardens in an effort to heal itself. When that happens, intercourse is largely sensationless.

Then there’s the fact that, in a neovagina, the “clitoris” is just a nub with none of the abilities of an actual clitoris.

Contrary to popular belief, the clitoris is not just a nub, it’s an entire organ. Most of it is just hidden under the surface:

The role that the clitoris plays in female pleasure is immense; most women can only orgasm if they receive clitoral simulation.

The clitoris has at least 8000 nerve endings. The “wings” of the clitoris also hug and squeeze the labia minora. A neovagina’s pseudo-clitoris isn’t even comparable.

One last thing: The fact that fat works differently in women and men is also an important factor, I think. Women’s bodies require more essential fat, and fat accumulates in different areas on women and men: In women, fat accumulates in the upper arms, the tummy, and, most importantly, the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Women’s much higher level of fat in this area is the reason why women have cellulite and (most) men do not. TIMs can get injections in their hips/thighs/buttocks to try to mimic women's natural fat distribution, but they can never achieve women's natural softness and squishiness.

Hi love! Sharing some of my tips below:

Skin:

Always use a disposable cloth when washing your face: Regular towels store bacteria and can cause breakouts too easily. These facial wipes from Amazon are my holy grail.

Wear sunscreen daily: Yes, even when you spend all day indoors. UV rays can interact with your skin through windows, too.

Niacinamide, Vitamin C Hyaluronic Acid, & Tea Tree Oil are among the few skincare ingredients almost everyone should consider incorporating into their skincare routine.

Learn the correct order to apply the products in your skincare routine: Cleanser, Toner, Serum, Eye Cream, Spot Treatment, Moisturizer, Sunscreen (or Retinol/Skin Oil at night).

Remember: From a dermatologist's perspective, your face starts (or ends) at your nipples. So, ensure you're cleansing, exfoliating, and applying sunscreen daily to your neck, chest, and décolletage to keep your skin smooth, youthful, and well-hydrated.

Vaseline is a great (affordable) alternative to traditional eye creams.

Sugar scrub your facial hair for a more gentle alternative to waxing (Combine sugar, lemon, and water). Laser hair removal, especially under your arms and your arms/legs is life-changing.

Follow up a warm shower with a dry brush and coconut oil for smoother, firmer skin.

Always apply a hydrating lip balm, mask, or Vaseline, hand cream, and moisturizer to your feet before going to sleep.

Layer complementary scents. Ensure the scents of body wash, lotion, and perfume work well together and don't clash.

Makeup:

Learn your skin undertones and educate yourself on color theory (I can create a short ebook/PDF if you want some more educational content on these types of topics – I write about them for a living!).

Test any foundation, concealer, or face powder on your wrists, too.

Don't forget to color-match your bronze and blush: They can appear orange or muddy if you don't find a product with the correct shade or undertones for your skin type.

Invest in products that go on your face, brow products, and eyeliners. Great mascaras and lip products are easy to find at a drugstore or relatively cheap (I suggest Covergirl and NYX, respectively).

Apply concealer in a triangle; don't dot it around your eyes for better coverage.

If you have oily skin (or it's humid outside), apply powder before your liquid/cream products. Set them again with a light powder to lock the color in.

Apply mascara from tip to base for the best lashes of your life: One coat on the tip, another from middle to tip, and the last coat from base to tip.

In a pinch, use a fragrance-free moisturizer and a Q-tip to remove excess makeup (no more raccoon eyes).

Use a light nude or white eyeshadow underneath your brow to make them appear more defined.

Apply face powder under your eyes to help the eyeliner on your waterline last longer.

Create a simple daily makeup routine formula: 1 skin coverage (foundation/concealer), 1 skin color (a favorite blush or bronzer), brows, mascara, an eye-definer (eyeliner or shadow), and a signature "your lips but better" lip shade (1-2 shades deeper or lighter than your natural lip color): This formula provides you the basics, so you never have an excuse not to put yourself together for the day (5-10 minute routine here).

Discover your day-to-night hero product: Always keep a slightly deeper lipstick, a smoky eyeshadow, or liquid liner in your bag to transition your day look into the evening with one portable product.

oh, her sister was diagnosed ADHD [hyperactive] in like...the second grade haha! Her sister's symptoms were very disruptive and difficult for anyone to ignore.

Her brother was diagnosed with developmental dyspraxia and autism in kindergarden, and wasn't expected to graduate highschool [initially placed into special education], but once he hit junior high, he was actually put into the graduating program and passed all the nessicary classes to graduate.

Margie fell through the cracks because she's 1) very smart 2) extremely resourceful 3) aside from her disorganization and forgetfulness, her main symptom is hyperfocus and daydreaming...which makes her appear not at all hyper and perfectly capable of long hours of focusing (on things she likes) Q vQ

I think its easy to say good allergies aren’t that bad because they’re avoidable and the symptoms aren’t really chronic in the same sense that typical disabilities are. But my god the social effects! Having to bring your own food everywhere and be mindful about traveling and plane rides constantly is really draining after a while, especially with very common allergens like gluten or meat or egg. Like it’s crazy to me that most people can just eat whatever (like random food trucks in particular because damn I wish) because I’ve never gotten to do that

also the comorbidities! asthma alone accounts for a long term impact of allergen exposure.

people do not care to understand the severity of anaphylaxis and I've even been in first aid trainings where all they did was pass the Epi-Pen trainer around. a certain popular public charter [R.E.D.A.C.T.E.D] doesn't even mandate allergy certification through the first aid/cpr provider they choose. (a majority of first aid/cpr courses I've taken are phenomenal with allergy training fwiw)

ANYWAYS here are the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and what to do if you or someone is experiencing them!

If you or someone you know is experiencing anaphylaxis, call emergency services immediately. Do not delay care. If you're unsure, call anyways. Symptoms can be rapid or within 2 hours of exposure.

Do not delay care after administering epinephrine (Epi-Pen, Adrenaclick, Auvi-Q, etc), it is only temporary, hospital care is necessary.

Do not assume that someone with an allergy has an epinephrine injector, especially in places where you have to pay for healthcare.

If someone goes unresponsive and is not breathing during an allergic reaction, start CPR (adult | child+infant) immediately.

On the topic of xenophobia, I actually have a favor to ask from the latin american community.

I would be very grateful if some of you could contact me (dms or asks, anon or not anything is fine) to offer me your perspective and thoughts on this issue regarding what was said during the interview.

1)I want to make sure some of these aren’t a result of a mistranslation, or lack of added context on my part. I’m not saying this is the case but I’d rather be 100% certain it isn’t.

2)I want to see if I can offer some perspective to clear some things up. An example would be that I’ve seen a lot of people be upset by Léa and Lumi talking about how Q’s stream was « in spanish and at 3 a.m ». A big part of the community also said the same things and I really want to say that Q stream was in spanish or late for us isn’t the problem (to be fair I’ve also seen few people being genuinely pissed that he spoke spanish, well, FUCK THEM). The issue was the absence of subtitles or official translations being released, making access to what Quackity said difficult for non spanish speakers, especially admins who are the first concerned by what he said. Of course this should be a concern when he uses english too, sadly it’s kinda the default language and because a lot of admins/fans are EN speakers the issue isn’t being talked about as much.

3) I genuinely want to educate myself more on this topic. Xenophobia against latin americans isn’t something that is talked about a lot here in France so I’m unfortunately not knowledgeable about this issue.

hello house tumblr i am back with regularly scheduled educational programming. if there is one thing i love it is niche things related to my interests and what's more niche than academic studies related to house md? yes you heard me right. people in academia did research related to house and i am here to share the knowledge. who said academia was boring?

the majority of studies i saw were in bioethics and were studying the usefulness of house md as a teacher of ethical problems (i would know i had to write a medical ethics paper on chase killing a dictator for a class).

in one study it was shown that 5 episodes from season 1 of house were useful in teaching clinical pharmacology who knew? as well as actual lectures in medical schools being done with a house md episode as a starting point. lots of student turnaround for those seminars. now that's cool. so house is educational we got that covered.

on a less fun note it was shown that frequent watchers of house before undergoing an operation are the most anxious before surgery reporting a 10 (yeah that doesn't surprise me).

How did you get into Sex-Ed work? Is this only an online thing or your irl job?

god I fucking with this was my real job, but I've only gotten paid for a sex ed gig exactly one (1) time in almost ten years lmao.

which isn't to say I only do it online; I do a ton of irl work, too! right now I'm teaching classes for some kiddos at a local unitarian church and putting together a sexual health carnival at my day job. I've also presented at conferences, organized a sex educators' conference for the national lgbtq+ task force, and done a ton of other miscellaneous work wherever people will let me.

I got into it completely by accident, when I made a post during my freshman year of college sharing a text convo with my younger sister while she was going through her own high school sex ed class. people started sending me their own sex ed q's and Have Not Stopped.

Morax was your longest known worshipper - though none known previously how he got to know you, it was only common knowledge that he did worship you in his time of when he was still but a young adeptus

But of course doubts started to spiral once death came-whether it was from his wrath or another being's own bloodthirst

Was it meant to happen?

Morax would ask himself that same  question-as he watches both his acquaintances and rivals die in front of his eyes

He was sort of angry at you-cursed you silently(not wanting to be known for disrespecting you but he did it quietly)

Yet the geo-scaled Archon despite those doubts and trials--He, then matured over the decades he walked in Teyvat his faith in you stood still like the mountains made by geo he made all over the shores of Liyue

plus... Barbatos's 'fact' as the winged-archon would like to call it seemed a bit insulting and he somehow wanted to prove the latter wrong despite knowing its not worth wasting his energy for more important matters

In his time of living among the mortals of Liyue he understood that every thing was meant to happen

He exhaled ;sipping the tea as he watches the lanterns dance among Teyvat's sky

though his victories from the past did haunt him-- Zhongli was finally at peace,knowing that his nation were thriving and advancing without the need of Rex lapis

but what made him feel even more relaxed was the presence of what you'd call 'divine'

Zhongli's golden eyes squinted as if instinctively trying to find something he'd like to think he'd seen before

Your acolyte smiled from afar looking fondly at the docks of Liyue of where you stood with the traveller and a sea of his people

Xiao

Your presence was educated by Morax to him when Alatus was recently just saved by the hands of the cruel god

'the all mighty Creator of Teyvat'

what was so special about you?that made Rex lapis himself worship you

Not to ask that question in a tone which a certain anemo-winged archon used--but one of piqued curiousity

He always wondered about your existence whether during his time with the other yaksha's or even after their passing..

Though he could ask Morax--he'd rather not seeing how the Geo archon had his own responsibilities to deal with

No matter Xiao leaves the subject on the back of his mind and sighed as his pain continues to course through his body

For now.. as your acolyte Xiao can only say that he has respect for you for at least helping him save the people who reside in the harbour through the Traveler or through him

But can he really be satisfied with just that after witnessing your arrival at the harbour-well the answer is.. no

not when the karmic dept that the young Yaksha held for so long almost instantly disappears at the sight of your divine gaze that reflected the lanterns of Liyue

Baizhu

Since birth he was always physically weak and as the years passed by his health also weakened mentally

Baizhu wouldn't say he's a Saint like his regular customers would like to see him as-rather he see's himself as a human-and there was no doubt he was

Greed

Some people say he had that quality-and he would frown at the notion,, but can you really blame him when not careful anytime could be a dead end for the sickly man

Although the mint haired man would always feel guilty on taking advantage of Qiqi's immortality despite doing it over again--

However when you finally arrived in Teyvat Baizhu thought he would feel immense guilt the moment he mentioned about his endeavours and his reason of taking care of Qiqi--plus the fact that he treated you as you were human instead of the Creator

The mint haired man would always apologise for all the troubles he's been giving you this past hour

But instead you reassured him-well awkwardly patted him at the back is what you did-- but it was enough to quell his tears

Such a kindness shouldn't be unrewarded.. (though he Baizhu knows he's not in place to reward-but to show his faithfulness to you)he would offer himself as one of your acolytes to honor you with his body

Ganyu

The news of the Creator's arrival on Teyvat had been a shock to the people Liyue and to her as well-but it wasn't unwelcomed!

she was part of the beings who prepared the festival for you! Though not her money nor' the idea-Ganyu was glad to be working full time on the project assigned to her

ok my thought process was somewhere along the lines of

rboo (kid wanting to blow up as a mcyter during summer 2020) getting attention through making fan content of dream smp (also trying to write themself into the lore) -> dream (kid who blew up as an mcyter before the pandemic hit, getting even more insane numbers) sees himself in rboo, adds him to the dream smp

-> path 1: parasocial stan delusion - ran is both viewer and cc, relatable to viewers in a down to earth way while gaining an insane amount of success very very fast -> heightened scrutiny to not fuck things up because his audience is full of normal people who care about social justice on paper (part of dreams influence in having a gender and race diverse (somewhat) audience) -> growing importance of boundaries (tm) -> fandom becomes insanely blue haired liberal and jumps on every mistake, demanding quick and GOOD apologies for both inane and serious shit -> fandom becomes volatile and creates disproportionate responses to everything -> they (rboo) become spineless -> this attitude and spinelessness leaks over to the whole of mcyt since most of dsmp shared an audience at that point -> feedback loop we see today (sidebar: growing media illiteracy combined with volatile reactions extend to lore shit on all ends and was absolutely compounded by their joining -> "sanctity" of the lore -> michael -> dsmp audiences split over the parasocial belief that character = content creator's thoughts beliefs and actions in real life instead of. acting)

-> path 2: control and queerness - branch off from blue haired liberal -> viewers have good intentions in wanting more rep in the cc space (queer and women, not so much race) -> marginalized communities cant afford to make mistakes as much as white men in the space -> disproportionate amount of criticism for both white men and marginalized ccs -> viewers attempting to take control of ccs due to ran blurring the line between viewer and cc during lockdown/most viewers' formative social years being taken from them -> not much education about queerness in the first place -> queerbaiting discourse and queer being a symbol of goodness -> people seemed to want dream to be straight and evil and ran to be gay/queer and good -> double standards when dream and ran come out because of dream's perceived power, status, and past growing up in conservative florida he had already been addressing, but ran gets a warm welcome because of bending to the audience more than dream has and past not holding as many mistakes meaning they could claim queer as an identity -> selective biphobia because if dream is queer hes a bad queer so everything he does is evil
