ETA: Nancy Pelosi is pressing charges against activists (I’m unclear if it’s the same people as above, tho in this case It’s Red paint and not manure) for $400 in damages to her property (that’s right a multi-billionaire is bringing felony charges against protestors).

If you're going out to protest, please remember to wear a quality mask or respirator. We're still in a pandemic, and covid-19 is still transmissible outdoors, especially in large crowds like a protest.
It doesn't make any sense to advocate for people's livelihood just to unnecessarily set you and/or someone else up for long-term health issues or death.
(Sources: #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 -> a podcast episode from the Death Panel that goes into the misconception that covid-19 is non-transmissible outdoors & a link to the transcript for that episode)

I watched the blurred footage of Aaron Bushnell's self-immolation, and I just want to give a warning to anyone that might be considering watching it: he is blurred after the fire catches, but the audio alone is extremely intense. The blurring also does not cover his entire body near the very end of the video, and you can see part of him on fire, unblurred.
If you believe you can handle it, please watch, and understand the message he sent with his life. If you can't handle it, that's okay. Read the transcript if you can. Take care of yourself, and keep fighting for a free Palestine. It's what Aaron wanted from all of us.
We need to keep fighting.
We need to end the genocide.
From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

legal advice for all activists: saying things like "by any means necessary" or anything that can be construed as a threat attached to a direct action can and will land you with trumped-up terrorism enhancements if you are charged. be careful what you say publicly, including speeches at protests and on social media, if you are planning to engage in direct action. there are people doing a lot of extra years in prison because of this.

The Fat Protestor
by @sparklejams and @jordallenhall
For everyone showing up to protest the US government funding of a genocide -- be loud, be safe. Your body is a force. If you are able, use it.
Police identify people by body type/clothing. Be aware (as if you could possibly forget) that you don't have the privilege of blending into the crowd.
Be aware that fatmisic police protocol and infrastructure can endanger your life during arrest.
Let this inform the risk that you take.
If you get arrested: raise hell about being cuffed with your hands in front of your body.
Mid-fat, super-fat, and infinifat people are especially at risk of positional asphyxia when cuffed with their arms behind them. Be especially vocal about any stress position where your knees are raised (sitting on a low police van bench, for instance).
Police typically don't listen to folks when concern is expressed over being cuffed in the back -- be loud. Verse yourself and your community in de-arresting practice. These risks are not commonly known, though are present not only for fat people, but also those with asthma and other breathing difficulties.
Make sure the people you are with are informed of these risks before protesting.
Direct action is sweaty. Prepare against crease rashes (yep - it's a normal self care maintenance thing if you have skin rolls/folds. It's normal. It's common. It's nothing to be ashamed about.) by drying with paper towels, using antiperspirant or cornstarch under your breasts/belly. When you get home, shower and treat with a wound cleanser (shoutout bactine spray) or a tea tree oil balm or soap as needed.
Our fat bodies are magnificent contributions at protests. Our fat bodies take more effort to move - think of all the wonderful ways we can use this to our advantage at a protest or direct action. We can block pathways and hold precious land with our fat bodies. We can shield and protect precious people with our fat bodies.
Bring:
• Change of socks. If you get caught in the rain or doused with water, or even if you sweat through your socks - walking around in wet socks will cause bad blistering.
• Light first aid/bandaids
• Water, snacks, meds
• A physical copy of your emergency contact in case of arrest
Try to go with other fat people. Comrades in normative bodies may not always consider your body and what is safe for you - so make sure you loudly advocate for yourself and your needs within whatever group you are with.
Stay cool. Take breaks. Sit or stop when you need to. Try to be hyper-mindful of getting overheated.
In case of hospitalization:
• Make a packet containing all medical info, advance directives, and emergency contacts. Put it in a clear sleeve with a humanizing photo of you with loved ones at the front.
• Learn more about how to make a Connection Kit and humanize yourself to healthcare workers in the Know Your Rights Guide on nobodyisdisposable.org
Remember that there is so much to do beyond the front lines.
• Provide jail support (wait to greet released protesters with water, snacks, hugs, and rides home).
• Provide your home as a central prep and recovery space before/after.
• Stay near the action and offer your car as a mobile phone charging station.
• Provide childcare.
• Drop off supplies.
Honor your body as a resource for civil disobedience. Center your needs.

Hey guys!
As you know, my country is at war. Every day, people are dying, even now as I write this.
Tumblr media
And there is something you can do to help.
After the beginning of the full-scale war, many international corporations have left russia. They refused to do any business there, because the taxes immediately turn into bombs above my head.
But some of the corporations still continue doing business with the aggressor. They make money, and with that money they kill us.
Tumblr media
So we need your help to boycott these companies, to make them leave russian market. Stop buying their products, don’t fund the war. Target them on social media, send them e-mails. Convince your boss to stop buying their products.
As of April, the companies that still work in russia include Nestle, Xiaomi, METRO, L’Oreal, Danone, Auchan, Barilla, Leroy Merlin, Mars, Shell and many others
This is a website called Boycott Russia, where you can find the full list of these corporations http://boycottrussia.info/

This animation was done in collaboration with @jesilerae (on insta) who provided the audio. Jesi also gave me some creative direction for the first part and was super patient and supportive throughout the whole process! It was a healing project to work on and I'm very touched that I was contacted for this collaboration. 🦋🦋🦋 Thank you Jesi. 🙏
Some more information about the four wings of social change as taken from an article in Yes! Magazine:
//“Drawing from Grassroots Economic Organizing’s butterfly model of transformative social justice, Leah Penniman (Soul Fire Farm co-founder and farmer) described the four wings: Resisters: the people in the blockades, the protests, the work stoppages; Reformers: the folks trying to make change from within systems, including schoolteachers and elected officials, like those getting into the prosecutor’s office and working to get sentences lowered; Builders: those who create alternative institutions such as freedom schools, farms, and health clinics; and Healers: the conflict mediators, the therapists, the preachers, the singers, the dancers, the artists—“all the folks that are gonna make us well,” she said.//
To follow that, I just wanna re-iterate that YOUR contribution matters! We ALL have strengths that lift up different wings. And we all have the ability to broaden our scope and see where else we can help and see which wings may need more lifting. Your activism may look different from someone else's. That's both okay and necessary, so long as we stay connected and united. 🦋🦋🦋🍉🍉🍉✊✊✊ ~Pothos 🪴

Palestine Global Strike Jan 21-28, 2024
Infographics / toolkit created by queerandtranswealth and the_operating_system on IG.
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Blue to yellow gradient background. A photo of Bisan in a Press vest smiling at the camera while standing outside in the daylight. Text reads: 'Bisan called for a global strike next week from January 21-28. @ queerandtranswealth.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Blue to yellow gradient background. Text reads: 'What is a general strike? A general strike is a stoppage of work and economic activity across all industries to force leaders to change their actions. Bisan called for a global general strike from January 21 to 28. The purpose of the strike is to disrupt economic systems supporting the ongoing genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Bisan wrote in a post yesterday, "Strike as much as you can and protest...for a whole week or until this madness ends!" @ queerandtranswealth' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Blue to yellow gradient background. Text reads: 'Are general strikes in the United States protected by the National Labor Relations Board? No, they are not. The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) protects the rights of employees to engage in "concerted activity," which is when two or more employees take action for their mutual aid or protection regarding terms and conditions of employment (NLRB.gov). If your workplace or union does not support the general strike, your employer may discharge, discipline, or threaten you for participating. @ queerandtranswealth.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Blue to yellow gradient background. Text reads: 'You have the privilege (underlined) to strike if you have: A workplace that supports the global strike for Palestinian people. A union that is organizing a general strike in solidarity with Palestinian people. Unused sick days or PTO. A fully funded emergency savings fund to use in case you get fired, disciplined, or threatened. Your own business or private practice. Here are other ways you can support the global strike. @ queerandtranswealth.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, red, and light blue. Text reads: 'The many meanings of "shut it down" - how many can you commit to tomorrow? This brief toolkit offers ways to STRIKE if you can't physically be at an action: With your money (boycott / divest / support). With your attention (read / watch / listen). With your platform (share / archive). With your voice as a voter (write / call / fax). With your personal networks (gather / build). With your calendar (plan / commit). With your bodymind (wrestle / strategize).' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, red, and light blue. Text reads: 'An access oriented strike framework: As we call for a GENERAL STRIKE, how can we do so sensitively to the ways that certain forms of resistance are a privilege? And create inroads for those for whom a work stoppage or arrest involves risks such as homelessness or deportation. So too must we name the inherent ableism in valuing physical presence most highly, and leave room for that for whom violence is a palpable threat. If physically "striking" isn't accessible, this guide invites you to consider how a strike day can be a call to COMMITMENT - to holding yourself accountable for changing where your attention and resources go.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, and light blue. Text reads: 'Strike with your money. Commit to boycotting + spreading awareness about BDS / consumption. Commit to moving your money out of corporate banks and harmful investments. Be concrete: start the process of setting up new accounts. Put a list of brands to avoid on your phone or in your wallet. Demand accountability and transparency at business + schools.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, and light blue. Text reads: 'Strike with your calendar. Commit to weekly and monthly blocks of time, either on your own or with others. We owe Palestine, and each other, endurance -- this work is the work of our lives. It deserves our dedicated time. Identify and plan on upcoming events to attend, online or off. Make a list, a note on your phone, a story highlight, a saved post folder on your phone of organizations and people whose work you want to follow. Recognize the value of this feeling manageable. Be strategic. Samidoun has a great events calendar!' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, and light blue. Text reads: 'Strike with your platform. Commit to the global call to visibly stand in solidarity with Gaza + Palestine, for ceasefire, and against genocide: Film a 10 second selfie video. Say "My name is (first name only), I am from (country) and "I stand with Palestine." Send your clip by email to [email protected] and upload it to your personal platform with the hashtag #IStandWithPalestine. Commit to fighting the algorithm by sharing and archiving counternarratives.' /End ID]
Tumblr media
[Photo ID: Dark background with text in colors of pink, yellow, white, and light blue. Text reads: 'Strike with your attention. Commit to re/orienting your time on this day away from passive consumption of media and leisure activities, towards educating yourself, getting involved in virtual actions, contacting your reps, etc. Quiet strike re/orient "workday" hours. Watch / listen / read: Today, dedicate blocks of time to strategically informing yourself, with film, audio, articles, or other media. Share what you've learned.' /End ID]

You know what fucking sucks? I'm a teenager. There are so many shitty things in this world that I can't do jack shit about because I'm old enough. And even if someone is old enough to do things, they often don't or can't. No matter what I do I can't fix the problems I've been forced to confront, and it seems like a lot of people cope with this by pretending said problems don't exist. I can't do anything major because I am a teen, and people older than me, even if they have the ability to make change, don't. I'm not asking middle aged moms to solve homelessness, I'm begging my mom to sign up for volunteer work that you have to be at least 21 for. I'm begging people to donate money to causes because I can't. I'm begging people to at least acknowledge the issues that we all face, but that's too much for a lot of people. One of my biggest fears is that I will grow up and have the chance to do something, but I don't. I'm so fucking tired of this shit world I was forced into.
Didn't mean for this to turn into a rant, but it kinda ended up being one anyway.
Tl;Dr: if you have the means to help, even in a small way, you should take it.

What's crazy is that the documents uncovered in the arrests of the white nationalists like the Boogaloo and Proud boys showed that the fires, shooting, damages, etc at the BLM rallies was often started by the white nationalists in a (mostly successful) attempt to besmirch  BLM protesters and start a race war.
It's one of the reasons MLK wrote that those who supported civil rights should stop protesting (which he called "methods of persuasion") and switch to boycotts, lawsuits, and voting marches (which he called "methods of coercion")
"What?" You say. "Wasn't I taught that MLK led mighty protests where people were beaten and that attention changed hearts and minds?"
Yes ... that's what you were taught however - for the past 50 or so years there's been a concerted movement from large industry to whitewash MLKs message and change his actual strategy to "protest and get noticed/beaten", the exact strategy he rejected repeatedly.
The MLK and Gandhi messages of how to do civil disobedience was defanged in modern textbooks to become "your suffering makes a change!" The "make noise and people will pay attention" is a story DESIGNED to get progressives to waste energy in the most inefficient manner.

Sri Lankan protestors are built different. 😂😂😂
[Video description: Facebook video showing a scene of complete chaos and screaming, suffused in clouds of tear gas. A young protestor in shorts with a backpack picks a smoking tear gas cannister off the ground and strides with it along a wall of iron bars, holding out the billowing stream of gas at the cops assembled on the other side. Someone behind the camera eggs him on in Sinhala. The kid places the emptied cannister under a hedge behind a cop in riot gear and runs. The camera pans back to see the canninister thrown high into the air, sailing into a clump of trees in the park beyond./VD]
(PSA: do NOT pick up tear gas cannisters, they are searing hot!)

Why is no one talking about the riots and protests over the murder of 17-year-old Nahel by police in France?
This boy was only 17 years old, shot in the chest in the driver's seat by cops. People seem to think there isn't racism in France but there is. We all need to be talking about this. Nahel should not be forgotten.
The French government is attacking their own citizens with 40,000 police officers (yes, 40k cops) to quell the unrest. 5,000 cops are being sent to Paris alone.
The French government needs to realize that there wouldn't be riots if you didn't allow cops to and protect cops who kill unarmed, non-threatening, peaceful civilians, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN. French citizens won't let their government get away with this. Neither should the rest of the world.
If we all join forces to condemn this horrible tragedy, all across the world, maybe less young POC people will be murdered in cold blood by police officers. Maybe the French government WON'T sanction murder of their citizens for exercising the basic human right of free speech and protest. Maybe, one day, cops will have stricter standards and punishments. Maybe, in the future, there won't be cops at all, and no one would die by their hand. But we HAVE to work together to ever see that happen.
Blow it up. Blaze it if you want to. Find every post about this murder that you can and FORCE the media to notice.
Nahel's mother is organizing the protesting and has been photographed speaking and acting out for her son. We should also support her, because not enough parents would do this for their murdered child/ren. I know mine wouldn't. But she is, and she deserves to be recognized and supported.
Don't let children be murdered in vain, without notice, without awareness, without action. If we will not avenge our next generation, they won't be here to avenge anyone else. Don't let them die, especially not like this.
I don't know how to start a GoFundMe but if anyone did and wanted to, this would be a great place and cause for funds to go to.
Make the French government quake in their boots. Make them terrified of their own people. Make the government pale at the reality that is facing them; they will lose everything, all of their power, all of their money, if they do not get their shit together and protect their goddamn people.
This CNN article is horrifically boot-licking, however it is the most comprehensive reporting I have found in English, and my French is unfortunately nonexistent.
Don't buy into the copaganda. These fuckers are murderers, plain, cold, and simple.
Fuck the French police.
Fuck ALL police.
(Disclaimer: I am horrible at tags, I'm learning I swear)
