Up to a global mood!
Our last very important steps into the bilingual school of Porta Mosana are literally just around the corner! Having presented our ideas to the client, we admit we are more than ready to bring all our global celebration mood to school!
Tumblr media
A more detailed plan of the activities for our GC market is ready in line with the final comments of both the client and the mentor. The design of a ‘GC Passport’, that will be offered to pupils as their “gate to the world”, is almost finalized. Most important, today, the team visited the school to set up the room where the activities will take place. Note that the day will be decorated with an international spirit, so, please, stay tuned to check our pictures of the event in the coming days!
And we swear, we’re only up to a global mood! That’s why, on top of the final event, we are preparing the fanciest final product we would ever have imagined!

Wise Youngsters
Tumblr media
Hi everyone!
We would like to share our exciting news with you! This week, we finished our first field e-research in Porta Mosana and, more specifically, with the incredible minds of the high school. We were so thrilled to discuss with all of them our insights, perspectives, and thoughts about different topics regarding their research paper for the Global Perspectives course. This first contact let our team observe and get to know our target group better in terms of motivation, dynamics, and engagement in the classroom. Drawing from our observations, we will keep on sharing interesting and innovative ideas with them in future meetings.
After a thorough discussion, we helped our client design the course lessons for the next few months following the hybrid system (partly online, partly onsite lessons due to Covid-19) and decided to pay another e-visit in order to further discuss with pupils about our final event. We would like them to be involved in designing the final Global Citizenship market at school or online. We will keep you updated, as soon as we have a more concrete plan for our final event! Until then, check our introduction to a new recipe, and enjoy your weekend! :D

We call it a success!
Tumblr media
This week was very important for us: our Global Citizenship Market took place on-site at Porta Mosana. We were very excited as this event allowed us to put into practice four and a half months of research, discussion, brainstorming, interviews, and designing.
We are proud to say that our Global Citizenship Market was a success! Our client and mentor were delighted and the pupils rated our activities with more than 7/10! Our activity of drawing a world map from memory was definitely a hit.
It was very enriching to engage in discussion with the pupils and converse about different perspectives. In this event, both sides had a fruitful and inspiring learning experience. We can say that we succeeded in planting a seed of global citizenship values in the pupils’ minds. Only the future will tell whether they will grow into wonderful flowers...

Weekly Report
Tumblr media
After the busy exam week, we are back in active mode this week! To collect the state of the art information, we are happy to have been able to attend the classes of “Global Perspectives” online this and next week. The pupils need to finish a 5000-word research paper by September. During the 90-minute sessions, we helped year-5 students brainstorm about their research topics and during the discussion, we tried to make them think about the topics from different perspectives. We also shared our knowledge about how to structure an academic paper, how to find valid literature sources, etc. Moreover, we were also able to ask pupils about their expectations from us. This first-line field research not only helps us connect with the pupils but also provides us with the valuable information for further interventions.
PS: Do not forget to check the recipe from Eleni below :))  👇🏽

One step closer
Dear PREMIUM community, our journey is coming to an end. This last half has passed so fast! In less than 3 weeks, we will be together one more time in the closing event. And in less than two weeks, our market will take place! This week, we have been finalizing all details and coordinating with our client. And he really liked our program! Below you can see the promotional flyer for the kids that we designed for the event.
Tumblr media
In a nutshell: there will be music, a graffiti wall, but also activities to encourage critical thinking and (self) reflection. And of course, a glimpse of the international student life! All in all, an enjoyable experience for the kids. Our main goal? To plant a seed in their minds, to inspire them to continue learning and exploring outside of their comfort zone.
As always, we'll keep you posted!

Sneak peak into our design process
Tumblr media
Many of you would agree with us on this: in order to get great results, you need a great team! To achieve this, we have put strong emphasis on getting to know each other. But we are ready to move on!
In our last meeting, we designed the outline of our first of many workshops on Global Citizenship Education (GCE). Our mentor gave us very nice feedback already, and next week we will present it to the client. During this first contact with the students, we will introduce ourselves and familiarize the kids with the concept of global citizenship using dynamic activities like guessing games, a cultural bingo and collaborative mind maps! Our aim is to encourage them to participate from the very beginning. The best part? Since the schools will reopen soon in the Netherlands, we might be able to have an on site event! As one could expect, we are very excited about the possibility.
Would you like to know what we would be up to next? Stay tuned!
PS: Don’t forget to check out yesterday’s recipe if you haven’t already!!!

A unique weekly meeting and other stories..
Tumblr media
We take your feedback seriously, and that’s why by popular demand, we would like to share with you how we are experiencing our journey so far. When we visited Porta Mosana, the impressions among us were different. You might think that a school is a school, but we realized that it is not only this; our vision of the school is really influenced by our cultural background. For example, for Haoran, a room with 32 desks seemed rather small, as he used to have 80 pupils per class in China. Rocio from Spain was surprised to know that pupils could freely go in and out of the school during the lunch break, while Elena from Greece was impressed by the “phone hotel” as they call it. Having a specific place for students to let their cell-phones during lessons was quite unexpected since she was used to pupils sneaking a glance at their phones due to their ‘restricted’ use at Greek schools. Léa from Belgium was astonished by the school having wifi because she could not use her phone at school between 8 and 4, not even during the breaks. Although Cher attended a Dutch high school, she was still amazed by the art department and the 3D printer in the science lab. Can you imagine what will happen once we start exchanging more experiences and ideas with the actual protagonists of this school??
But this is not just it! As we told in our presentation, we built a collaborative and creative connection from the very first meetings, and to keep that connection alive, we play some online games, such as gartic phone!. We couldn’t pass on sharing this with the PREMIUM community! This game perfectly combines pictionary with the telephone game to bring the team a good laugh. Believe us, if you play with your team once, it’s going to be your next must-do at every meeting.

Getting ready for our second half
Tumblr media
Hi PREMIUM community! Did you miss our weekly report? After last week’s midterm presentation, we took some time to reflect on our process and recharge our batteries. Last Thursday, we had our reflective practitioner meeting with our mentor and we realized how much progress we have made as a team since the beginning! We also discussed with him how we should approach the next steps with our client. Next week, we have scheduled our Team dynamics session! After that, we think we will be absolutely ready to face the second half of PREMIUM!
What about you, are your batteries recharged and are you ready for the challenges to come?
PS: Don’t forget to check Haoran’s recipe if you want to travel to the other side of the world with your mouth!

What does global citizenship mean to us?
Tumblr media
We hope your work week started well! Today we wanted to reflect a little bit before our weekly get-together. In our kick-off meeting, one of the topics we discussed was global citizenship, defined by the United Nations as “the social, political, environmental and economic actions of globally minded individuals and communities on a worldwide scale”. It was really interesting to hear the ideas that everybody had on it and their own definitions and understanding of the concept. Words like freedom, learning, openness, culture, privilege and respect popped up.
Now we want to hear from you! What does being a global citizen mean to you?
