Timeless (XII)

A/N: Timeless is inspired by @just-dreaming-marvel 's Out Of Time series. This was a chapter I wanted to include because angst (which not a whole lot of my stories contain). It was hard trying to write this chapter because I did not want to plagiarize the other story. I tried to include more details and change wording. I apologize now if it's too similar to OOT.

The cube had been left floating momentarily in mid air but, not for too long. Olivia grabbed hold of it before letting out a scream as the blue energy had burned her left hand. Steve moved to reach his sister but, he wasn't fast enough in that moment. The second Olivia released the cube, not being able to withstand holding onto it any longer, it had burned a hole through the floor of the plane, causing both it and the young girl to fall through.

"No!" Steve cried out in anguish.

Watching his little sister fall into the ocean below, reminded him of when he watched his best friend fall off the train, in the mountains, to his death. He kept his gaze on her flailing, falling figure, until he couldn't see or hear her anymore. His eyes screwing shut as he cried in agony. When he hiccuped, he turned his attention to the front console, reminding himself that he still had a mission to complete. He sniffled and wiped his nose with the back of his right hand before getting to his feet and made his way over to the controls on shaky feet. He removed his helmet and set the shield beside the console. He lowered himself into the pilot's seat and took note that the autopilot was set for New York. He look up from the controls and out at horizon in front of him. In that moment, he made a choice...the only choice.

"Come in. This is Captain Rogers, do you read me?" Steve radios.

"Captain Rogers, what is your loca-" Jim Morita had started before he was cut off by none other than Peggy.

"Steve, is that you?" she wonders. "Are you and Liv all right?"

"Peggy!" Steve greets with some enthusiasm in his tone. "Schmidt's dead!"

"And what of your sister?" Peggy inquires.

Steve hesitated momentarily before answering, "She's dead too. Fell into the ocean."

Those in the room with Peggy could make out the despair in the Captain's tone and noticed that his voice sounded a little scratchy, as if he had been crying.

"Steve...I'm so sorry." Peggy apologizes.

"What about the plane?" she then inquires.

"That's a little bit tougher to explain," Steve responds before he flipped some switches and pressed some buttons.

"Give me your coordinates, I'll find you a safe landing site." Peggy states.

The blond looks at the screen that displayed the plane, taking note that it still held a multitude of bombs in the cargo bay.

"There's not going to be a safe landing. But I can try and force it down." he informs her.

"I'll...I'll get Howard on the line. He'll know what to do." she tells him.

"No, there's not enough time. This thing's moving too fast and it's heading for New York. I've gotta put her in the water." Steve informs.

"Please, don't do this." Peggy pleads. "We have time. We can work it out."

"Right now, I'm in the middle of nowhere. If I wait any longer a lot of people are gonna die. Peggy...this is my choice." he says.

He takes out his compass and sets it down, before looking at the picture of Peggy within. He uses the steering mechanism to force the nose of the plane downwards, heading for the ice.

"Peggy?" he calls out.

"I'm here." came her response over the radio.

"I'm going to need a rain check on that dance." he tells her.

"Alright," Peggy could feel her heart cracking, tears welling up in her eyes. "A week, next Saturday, at the Stork Club." she informs him.

"You got it," Steve agrees.

"Eight o'clock on the dot. Don't you dare be late. Understood?" she asks.

A thought comes to Steve's mind, "You know, I still don't know how to dance. Livvy attempted to teach me once but, she didn't have the patience to teach and I didn't have the patience to learn. I know how to sway though."

He hears Peggy let out a heartbroken chuckle before she spoke. "I'll show you. Just be there."

The Atlantic drew closer as the plane descended but, Steve continued talking.

"We'll have the band play somethin' slow, I'd hate to step on your-" Before he could finish his sentence, the plane crashes into the ice, cutting the signal off.

"Steve?" Peggy cries. "Steve? Steve?"

Not long after the Rogers siblings had been lost, the world celebrated the victory over Nazi-Germany. The Howling Commandos still mourned for the loss of their Captain and the loss of the only person who brought light into the darkness of war. Howard went out searching for the wreckage and the siblings. Peggy had informed him about Steve telling her that Olivia had fallen into the ocean. Without the serum running through her veins, there was no chance she'd be alive nor the chance her body would be found but Howard didn't care, he was going to scour the Atlantic anyways.

The engineer stood in his ship, staring at a photo that had been taken of him and the young girl. It was taken the night he had taken her out to see the stars so she could draw. She had been afflicted about her SSR training and about her boys that he initially offered to take her out dancing. When she turned his offer down, he resulted in taking her outside to star gaze instead. She was relaxed then, gaze focused on the sketchbook in front of her and he was looking at her with caring eyes. He kept the photo and the sketch she had drawn that night, in his pocket ever since.

"Sir?" one of the men that worked for Howard called out.

Howard's thoughts left the picture before he stuck it back in the inner pocket of his jacket. He moved to step beside the hired engineer, eyes examining the screen the engineer had be observing. Their machine in the water had grabbed hold of a glowing blue cube.

"Take us to the next grid point," Howard orders, eyes remaining on the screen.

"But...there's no trace of the wreckage. And the energy signature stops here." the engineer informs him.

"Just keep looking." he commands.

He couldn't bring himself to give up in searching for the Rogers siblings. Their stories shouldn't have ended the way they did, he could feel it in his gut.

If only he knew.

Being pregnant again was not on Vicki Vale's agenda, not when she's raising five boys and has to take care of her sister's children that she bas to take care of. Trying to keep the pregnancy from the father of her child, Bruce Wayne, wont be easy when she has to interview him at a charity event. But when she throw ups on Jack Ryder's shoes while in mid conversation, there's not much left to hiding it now. Vicki then suddenly find's herself living in Wayne Manor with the kids and learning along the way what it truly means to be a family, oh and visits from alternate reality characters does not help.

Over the next few months, Olivia lived her life the best way she could in the moment. She joined the SSR and was put in with Colonel Phillips and Peggy Carter. Agent Carter had been the one to teach her everything she needed to know, and soon Olivia had been passing her tests, coming in the top percentile as if being a part of the SSR was something she was born for. She grew close with Howard, who stepped up to take on the role of being a big brother while her actual brother and other "brother" were gone. He looked out for her when Peggy couldn't. Steve and Bucky's team of men became known as the Howling Commandos. They all left a few days after the trio had said their goodbyes. Olivia's only communication with her boys came in letters.

Liv,

Don't worry too much. I am watching out for your punk of a brother. He's starting to make risky choices, thinking he's indestructible now that he's Captain America and leads his own team. But, I'm doing everything that I can to make sure he doesn't do anything really stupid, so that he'll make it back to you in one piece. And I'm doing good, I promise you that. I hope you're doing well and have managed to find a semblance of happiness. If it's in the form of a boy though, I will be having words with him. Remember, for every moment after until the end of the line.

The better big brother,

Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes.

Sis,

Buck probably mentioned in his letter to you about how he's continuing to take care of me and stopping me from doing anything stupid like before I took the serum. But, I am also doing all the same for him. I promise, that him and I will make it back to you in one piece although we may be a little scathed. By the way, how is Agent Carter doing? I haven't heard from her in a bit and wipe that smile off your face. I hope you're looking after yourself, I really miss you. Love you and remember, until the sun doesn't rise in the east I'll be there.

Captain Steven Grant Rogers

Whenever Colonel Phillips had been sent video footage of Captain Rogers and the Howling Commandos, the Colonel's team watched. Olivia used the viewing of the footage as a way to keep an eye on her boys, eyes scanning over the images to make sure they were in one piece and suffered no bad injuries. In one video footage, it had shown Steve taking a glance at a compass that he had on him, with a picture of Peggy inside. She poked fun at the agent to hide how she actually felt.

The younger Rogers had been completing some paperwork that had been stacked up when Colonel Phillips received word about Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes' death, by falling off a train. It had been a couple of days and no one could find the body in the snow. The Colonel broke the news to Agent Carter and Stark first before informing them that he'd like them around as he broke the news to the young girl.

"Agent Rogers? The Colonel is requesting you in his office," a fellow agent informs the girl when they approached her.

Olivia looked up from the file in front of her and nods her head. She closes the manila folder and gets up from her seat before making her way to the Colonel's office. On her trek, she noticed other agents were looking at her, giving her sympathetic looks. She didn't understand why she was receiving such sad looks but as she drew closer to the door to the Colonel's office, her anxiety spiked. When entering, her attention was quickly drawn to Peggy's form which was sitting in a chair across from the Colonel's desk and then she noticed that Howard was also in the room.

"Agent Rogers. Shut the door, please." Colonel Phillips tells her after greeting her.

Olivia did as she was told, "I don't understand...have I done something wrong?" she wonders.

"No. No, you haven't. But please, take a seat. I would prefer to tell you this while you were seated." Phillips says.

The dirty blonde slowly took a seat in the empty chair beside Peggy, who she noticed held sadness in her eyes. She then turned her attention to Howard, who too held sadness in his eyes. The young girl could feel her heart begin to race as she braced herself for the news she was about to receive.

"Your brother, Captain Rogers, and the Howling Commandos had been tasked with stopping a train that was taking Dr. Zola, HYDRA's top scientist, to one of their bases." the Colonel began. "Captain Rogers and Sergeant Barnes ziplined onto the train to attack from within. While on the train, they were attacked. A hole had been blown in the train which resulted in Sergeant Barnes to fall to his death from the train."

Olivia sat motionless in her chair, her swirling thoughts having come to a stop as the information she was given, washed over her. Howard, who had been watching the young girl from where he stood, saw the moment she broke through her eyes.

"His body has not been found...I am so sorry for your loss." Colonel Phillips ended.

The three adults watched the young girl, who was still frozen in her seat but had put her head down....waiting. Olivia looked up at Colonel Phillips through her brow line causing the man to be taken aback by the look she was giving him.

"You're lying. You don't know that he's dead." she says.

"Olivia..." Peggy began.

"He doesn't! He just said that Bucky's body hasn't been found. Bucky could still be alive!" Olivia tells her.

"Olivia, I'm so sorry but, he's dead." Peggy tells her.

The young girl stands up suddenly and pulls out the handgun she had in the waistband of her jeans. She turned the safety off and aimed it in the Colonel's direction.

"Stop lying to me. You've just given up on him, like before. You go out there, and you find him." she tells him.

Peggy shot up from her seat, holding her hand out towards the girl.

"Hey, hey...easy, Liv. Easy. Listen, I am so sorry for your loss but, this...he wouldn't want you to do this. The Colonel hasn't given up on him, we've received reports from the men in the field that there was no sign of Bucky's body in the snow." she informs the girl.

Olivia's outstretched arm was beginning to shake and Peggy slowly grabbed the gun from her. She turned the safety back on, on the gun before setting it down on the Colonel's desk. The young girl broke down in that moment, falling to the floor, not being able to stand on her shaky legs. She sobbed on the floor.

"I'll leave you be," Colonel Phillips says before he walks out of his office.

Howard crossed the room, kneeling in front of the young girl, embracing her.

"Shh...it's going to be okay Olivia. You're going to get through this. You're a strong girl." he tells her, rubbing her back in a comforting manner.

The engineer held the girl, allowing her tears to soak his shirt until they ran dry. He felt her body go slack in his embrace and he picked her up bridal style.

"There should be a room, down the hall with a cot you can lay her on." Peggy tells him.

Howard gave her a nod before carefully carrying Olivia out of the Colonel's office and ventured down the hallway, bringing the girl to another room to allow her to get some rest.

"He...he c-can't be dead. He...he c-can't be, H-Howard. He just...can't be." she mutters tiredly.

"Shh, you just rest." He tells her, setting her down on the cot, after entering the other room.

Olivia rolled to lay on her right side, to be facing the door and the current man in the room.

"Howard...will you stay with me until I fall asleep?" She asks him in a small voice.

"Of course, Liv." He tells her.

The inventor moved to sit at the end of the cot once the young girl moved her legs to provide him with space. He remained by her side until she had fallen asleep. When he was sure that she was out, Howard got up and left the room. He and Peggy decided that they weren't going to leave the girl alone after the heartbreaking news she had received, knowing that she would most likely refuse to get up. A couple of days later, the Howling Commandos showed up to the base without their Captain. They checked in on the young Rogers' wellbeing before Peggy questioned them about Steve's whereabouts. Gabe Jones informs her that he had gone to the bar.

Peggy had gone to find Howard to inform him that she was going to go speak to Steve and he promised to keep an eye on Olivia, who hasn't left the room he had brought her too.

When Peggy arrived at the bar, she was quick to notice that it was in shambles. She walked inside, following the sound of the radio giving a report about a blackout. When her gaze landed on Steve, she could hear him sniff before he reached across the table to grab a bottle to pour himself a drink.

"Dr. Erskine said that the serum wouldn't just affect my muscles, it would affect my cells." Steve started when he realized Peggy was there. "Create a protective system of regeneration and healing. Which means umm...I can't get drunk. Did you know that?" he wonders.

"Your metabolism burns four times faster than the average person." Peggy tells him, picking up a chair to sit across from Steve. "He thought it could be one of the side effects."

She observes the heartbroken expression on Steve's face, noticing the tears welling in her eyes.

"It wasn't your fault." she tells him.

"Did you read the report?" Steve inquires.

"Yes," she answers.

He scoffs, "Then you know that's not true."

He hesitates before wondering, "Did Liv read it?"

"No, she hasn't." was Peggy's response.

"She should. She deserves to know the truth." Steve says.

"You did everything you could. Olivia won't blame you for what happened." Peggy tells him.

She continues to observe Steve, "Did you believe in your friend? Did you respect him?" she inquires.

Steve looks at her, as if he couldn't believe she'd be questioning him about his best friend.

"Then stop blaming yourself. Allow Barnes the dignity of his choice. He damn well must have thought you were worth it." She tells him, trying to soothe his conscious.

Steve sits there for a moment, "I'm going after Schmidt. I'm not going to stop until all of HYDRA is dead or captured." he says with conviction in his tone.

"You won't be alone." Peggy assures him.

A shroud of silence fell between the two of them momentarily, until Steve broke it once more.

"How is she? How's Liv?"

"She hasn't taken it very well. Howard and I have been trying our best but, she need her big brother." Peggy tells him.

Steve gives her a nod and the two of them get up from the table and leave the bar.

Olivia grew restless in the room she had been staying in, having chosen not to leave but, now she was ready to. She exits the room and immediately notices the Howling Commandos and Howard waiting out in the hall for her. They all had sad looks on their faces, ones that turned into sympathy when they looked at the young girl.

"I uh...I'd like to something, anything please." she stated.

"Okay. Would you like us to take you to the library or to go shoot?" Gabe Jones asks her.

"Umm...the shooting range please. I can't...can't read right now." she answers softly.

Reading was something she did with Bucky. He'd read aloud and she'd draw whatever was being described to her.

"We can take you someplace." Gabe informs her.

"You guys don't have to. If you'll just tell-"

"We promised Agent Carter that we'd keep an eye on you," Dum-Dum interrupts her. "And we're not going to break another promise. Now c'mon."

The Howling Commandos take the young Rogers to a shooting range, with Howard quietly following after them. When they arrived, the men set up every target and grabbed every gun, setting up for the girl. They were relieved that the girl had chosen an opportunity to take out the pain she was clearly feeling on something, rather than on someone. They stood by and watched the girl carefully, surprised by how well she hit each and every target, even though they had been previously informed about how she had passed every test perfectly.

"We could've used you out there, Agent Rogers. You have better aim than any of us." one of the men chuckled.

"I've seen her take out a whole division of soldiers," Howard spoke up. "It was very entertaining to watch all those men get beaten by a dame smaller than all of them."

"Thanks," Olivia mutters in slight embarrassment.

She picked up another gun, loaded it and took aim at a target. Before she could squeeze the trigger, heavy boot steps resonated within the shooting range.

"Captain," the men greet the eldest Rogers when they saw him.

"I'd like a moment alone with my sister." Steve tells them.

The Howling Commandos answered with "yes sir" before they walked out. Steve looked at Howard, who remained for a moment before he too walked out. Then, Steve turned to his sister, watching as she pulled the trigger and hit the center of the target she aimed at, even with her hands shaking.

"Liv...I'm so-" Steve began.

"I know, Stevie. I know." Olivia says, setting the gun down after she turned the safety on.

She turns to face her brother, who could see the tears welling up in her eyes.

"I don't...I don't b-blame you. I...I know you. I-I know you did...did everything you could. I uh...I already knew...that it was silly of B-B-Bucky to promise...th-that he w-was going to come back...to me. I-I knew the...the risks." she tells him, voice breaking and she took pauses in between words to keep herself together.

Steve held his arms open to his sister, who ran to him and embraced him. He held her as she sobbed in his arms. Even though he knew she didn't blame him, he couldn't help but feel overwhelming guilt about failing to save Bucky.

"It's all my fault...I s-should've done more...I'm so sorry." he says, his own tears running down his face.

Olivia held her brother tighter, sobs dying down, as it dawned on her that this was about comforting her brother as it was for him comforting her.

"Don't do that. I know you, Stevie...I meant what I said. I know you would've done everything...in your power to save him. We can get through this...together." she assures him with her head on his chest.

Steve sniffled, "Together."

The Rogers siblings held each other in the middle of the shooting range, in a now comfortable silence, their tears having run dry. Steve pulled away from Olivia just a bit, to look down at her.

"I'm going after HYDRA and I don't plan on stopping until they're all dead or captured." he informs her in a quiet voice, not wanting to break the current ambiance.

"Let me come with you. I've passed all my tests, I know how to shoot a gun, I-" Olivia began to ramble.

"You can come." Steve interrupts her.

The young girl looks up at her brother in bewilderment. She thought she'd have to do more convincing to let her tag along.

"Really?" she wonders.

"Yes. I may worry about your safety but, I know you'd be worrying about mine. And honestly, I would like you by my side as we avenge Bucky because there's no one else I'd rather be doing this mission with. I've heard the reports and would like to see you in action." he answers.

Olivia gives her brother a big smile before embracing him again. Steve held her close for a moment before separating and put an arm over her shoulders, before the two of them walked out of the shooting range.

Timeless (VII)

In the days to follow, the group found themselves in London. Olivia had learned that her brother had seen a map behind enemy lines that had the locations of HYDRA bases on it used it as a way in to help the Allies. The men were gathered at a bar, drinking in celebration while Peggy convinced Olivia to get all dolled up with her. Peggy was looking for Steve, needing to tell him that Howard wanted to see him in the following morning. So Olivia got dressed in a Navy Blue full skirt pin up dress and walked along side Peggy, who was dressed in a red dress, to the bar. When the two women walked inside, the singing and conversations that happened within ceased as attention was turned to them. The women made their way over to Bucky, Steve and the others.

"Captain," Peggy greets Steve as they stood before the group of men.

"Agent Carter," Steve returns.

Bucky looks Peggy up and down behind her back which Olivia catches and she elbows him in the side. Peggy turned around then at Bucky gave her a smile.

"Ma'am," he greets.

When Peggy turns her attention back to Steve, Bucky gave Olivia a wink. She rolled her eyes at his behavior but cracked a small smile.

"Howard has some equipment for you to try," Peggy tells Steve. "Tomorrow morning?"

"Sounds good," Steve agrees, giving a curt nod.

The men in the adjoining room resumed their singing and talking. Peggy looks over in their direction, giving Steve a chance to ogle at her momentarily.

"I see your top squad is prepping for duty." she comments.

She looks back at Steve who looks back at her, as if he hadn't just been taking her in.

"You don't like music?" Bucky inquires.

"I do actually. I might even, when this is all over, go dancing." Peggy says, still looking at Steve.

"Then what are you waiting for?" Bucky wonders.

"The right partner." Peggy answers.

"0800, Captain." she tells Steve.

"Yes ma'am." Steve responds.

Peggy turns and walks away then, the trio watching her part ways with them. She really did cause a scene and Olivia was still processing before Bucky pulled her close to him.

"Well while you're waiting on your partner, Steve, I'm going to take my dance partner out on the floor." He says.

"Wait, what?" Olivia asks confused.

Bucky turns to look at her, tilting his down just a little to look at her face.

"Come on doll, won't you dance with me?" He asks, giving her puppy dog eyes.

The girl sighed softly, giving in to him.

"All right fine, lets go dancing."

Bucky smiles and grabs her hand, leading her to the dance floor. He pulled her in close, putting his hands on her waist and she put her arms around his neck. The two of them dance together, through the whole night occasionally letting her switch out with her brother. Olivia had so much fun with her boys, she nearly forgot there was a war going on out in the world. It was in the early morning when the boys dropped her off at Peggy's place, where she had been staying. She turned to look up at the both of them, giving the two of them a sad smile. The two of them were going to head out in the morning to take down each and every HYDRA base that had been marked.

"Let me come with you guys." she tells them.

Both men shook their heads.

"No can do, Liv. We'd feel better if you remained here, where you'd be safe." Bucky tells her.

"But I could lose both of you and I'd rather be out there by both of your sides instead of waiting to hear about either of you through the grapevine." she says.

"We know Liv, we know. But please, for our sake...remain here with Peggy. Maybe you can be an SSR agent like she is." Steve said.

Olivia sighed, "Fine. I'll remain here. But, I came up with a little saying for the three of us, like how the two of you tell each other that you're there for the other until the end of the line." she tells them.

"Oh yeah? How's it go, doll?" Bucky wonders.

Olivia pulled out her notebook and opened the book before flipping through the pages until she stopped on a certain one. She turned the notebook around to show the boys the words on the page.

"Steve, yours is the first line. Mine is second and Bucky, yours is the last one." she tells them.

Steve glances at the words, "Until the...sun doesn't rise in the...west...I'll be there."

"Until the sun doesn't set in the west, I'll love you both." Olivia said, having memorized her line.

Bucky read his words. "And for every...moment after...until the end of the line."

The boys looked at each other for a moment before looking back at the girl.

"That's really creative, sis. I like it." Steve tells her.

"Me too. I think it really lets us remind each other of how we'll always be there for one another." Bucky says.

Olivia closed her notebook and put it away, having one small enough to fit into her clutch.

"You two be safe, look out for one another and come back to me." she says to her boys.

"We will." they agree together.

They each hug the girl one last time before parting ways with Olivia. She remained on the front porch for a little while longer, watching them leave before turning and entering Peggy's place, retiring for the night.

Timeless (XI)

Howard had also provided Olivia with a motorcycle, so she could ride along side her brother but, without being in a sidecar. Right before the siblings parted to go on the mission, Steve turned to his sister.

"Hey...Buck had a bad feeling about...he wanted you to have this, just in case." he tells her, placing something in her hand.

Olivia looked at the item in her hand, and brought her other hand up to cover her mouth. In her open hand lied Bucky's dog tags. A few of her tears splashed down onto the metal tags before she held them close to her chest. Steve places a comforting hand on her shoulder, causing her to look up at him.

"Come on, doll. We've gotta go." he tells her.

She nods her head and slips the dog tags on over her neck before mounting her motorcycle as her brother does the same. She tucks the tags under the collar of her romper before riding out, following her brother's lead. The Rogers siblings head for HYDRA's main base of operations. They went from paved road to dirt road as they rode through woods where the base was hiding. As they drew closer in proximity to the base, HYDRA agents rode out on their own motorcycles and began to shoot at the siblings. Sharing a look with one another, Olivia and Steve gave nods to the other before pushing a button on box connected to the right handle bar. Trip wire, that was connected by two arrows, shot out and attached to a pair of trees. It disabled a couple of HYDRA's agents and with another push of a button, fire emitted from the back of the motorcycles. Two HYDRA agents managed to get in front of the Rogers siblings.

"Go between them! I'll follow up behind you!" Steve calls out to Olivia.

Olivia gives her brother a nod before speeding up and passing through the HYDRA agents to get in front of them. Steve rode up quickly behind her, pulling a pin on the back of one of the agents motorcycles before riding up to be beside his sister again. The last two agents were blown up. The siblings continued on their way towards the base but, upon drawing closer to the gates, they noticed a tank aiming in their direction.

"Fall back behind me!" Steve shouts, grabbing his shield off his back and placing it on the front of his bike.

"Got it!" Olivia called back, slowing down and moves to ride behind her brother.

They ducked and dodged while being shot at, Steve's shield protecting them from flying dirt. Steve steadied his motorcycle before pushing another button that fired two small missiles towards the tank, causing it to explode. The siblings rode up the inclined walls like ramps, flying into the grounds of the HYDRA base. They immediately began firing at the HYDRA soldiers who had begun firing at them once they touched down. Steve and Olivia shared another look with each other before hitting another button on their motorcycles before leaping off them. They were quick to begin fighting, defending themselves and taking out the enemy soldiers. The motorcycles blew threw the base doors as the siblings had set their bikes to self destruct upon impact. However, before they could make a move to go inside...Steve and Olivia were surrounded by HYDRA agents. They were cuffed and brought to Schmidt's weapon lab.

"Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait, but I must say, you do it better than anyone." Schmidt states once he comes face to face with Captain America. "But there are limits to what even you can do, Captain. Or did Erskine tell you otherwise?"

"He told me you were insane." was Steve's response.

"Ah. He resented my genius and tried to deny me what was rightfully mine but, he gave you everything. So what made you so special?" Schmidt wonders.

Steve scoffed, "Nothin'. I'm just a kid from Brooklyn."

Schmidt delivered a punch to Steve's left cheek before hitting his right cheek and landed a blow to his gut. Steve was winded due to the last punch and fell to his knees.

"I can do this all day," Steve comments, looking up at Schmidt's red face.

"He actually can," Olivia pipes up.

"Oh, of course you can. Of course." Schmidt says before he makes his way over to the dirty blonde haired girl.

He grips her chin and forces her to look up at him. "What's this? What kind of a Captain brings a child into a fight?" he inquires.

"I'm not a child! I'm the son of Lucifer, I'm a Hunter, I AM a Winc (no wait, wrong fandom)" Olivia retorts.

"Now, why, Captain, would you bring a child to war? Unless of course..." Schmidt trails off, still observing the girl before him. "Ah, she is your sister." he put the pieces together.

He let go of her chin and nodded to the men behind her, "Take her to the ship. She'll be of use to us." he tells them.

"NO!" Steve screamed.

He got to his feet and began to fight off the soldiers. Olivia followed his lead although, she had a harder time fighting due to her hands being restrained behind her back. The enemy soldiers were able to successfully drag her out of the room and towards the ship. She missed Schmidt pulling out a gun amidst the fighting and aimed it at her brother.

"Unfortunately, Captain, I am on a tight schedule." she could hear him say.

"So am I!" Steve calls out.

At that moment, the Howling Commandos crashed through the windows of the weapons lab. Steve quickly got himself unbound before rejoining the fight, trying to move fast to catch up to his sister, who was holding her own pretty well. But more HYDRA soldiers piled into room, seemingly coming out of nowhere. Schmidt took advantage of the chaos that had ensued and ran out of the room, attempting to make an escape to the ship before anyone could stop him.

"Rogers!" James Falsworth calls out, gaining the Captain's attention.

"You might need this," he tells him, picking up the shield and throwing it to him.

Steve catches his shield, "Thanks!"

He then begins to fight his way through the base, which had only grown more chaotic as more Allied soldiers arrived. Along the way, he encountered a HYDRA soldier that was armed with a flame thrower. He immediately took cover behind his shield, not wanting to get burned with the flames suddenly stopped licking at the vibranium shield when a shot rang out. He lowered his shield enough to peek over the top only to see Peggy standing there, holding a gun. He lowers the shield entirely before making his way up to her.

"You're late," he comments.

For a brief moment, the two get lost looking in the other's eyes. Steve could almost hear the faint voices of his best friend and sister teasing him for not taking the chance to kiss her, amongst the chaos and...he almost does.

"Weren't you about to..." Peggy spoke, ruining the moment.

"Right." Steve snapped back into action.

He resumed his chase, heading for the leaving ship and fighting any enemy soldiers that stood in his way. But, he was not fast enough to catch up to Johann Schmidt's ship. Behind him, Peggy and Colonel Phillips pull up in a car.

"Get in!" the Colonel shouts to Steve.

Steve wasted no time and climbed into the vehicle before they were racing after the ship. It wasn't long before they caught up, thanks to the stolen vehicle being supercharged.

"Keep it steady!" Steve orders when they get right beneath the ship.

Steve gets up from the passenger seat and moves to place one foot on the hood over the right tire and kept his left foot on the passenger seat, preparing to jump onto the ship.

"Wait!" Peggy cries out, causing Steve to look at her in confusion.

She reaches out and pulls him in to kiss him carefully.

"Go get him," she tells him when they broke the kiss.

Still in shock, Steve looks in the Colonel's direction.

"I'm not kissing you!" Phillips tells him.

Steve looks back towards the plane before maneuvering himself to the front of the car. He presses himself against the hood of the car in order to save himself from the rotating blades of the plane before jumping onto the landing gear and pulling himself up and inside. Inside the plane, Olivia had been taken to the cockpit. The young girl had quit fighting as she realized she would need to reserve her energy if she were to take down the ship.

"Leave us," Schmidt orders his guards.

They quickly scrambled out, leaving the girl alone with their boss.

"So, do you have the super soldier serum running through you as well?" Schmidt questioned, observing her once more.

"No. No, I wasn't lucky enough to be offered the same opportunity as my brother. However, I did receive the healthier genes at birth so...I don't suppose I necessarily need it." she answered.

"Really? Perhaps you may have already gotten out of here if you had it in you." Schmidt tells her.

"When did I say that I want to get out of here?" Olivia inquires.

"You think you are so clever, little girl," Schmidt remarks.

"I am not the only one who does." she counters.

Suddenly, her attention was drawn to a glowing blue cube that sat in the center of the room. It was a beautiful sight, one that sparked her curiosity. But, she knew she needed to come up with a plan to get ahold of it somehow. She had a feeling that taking the cube would help end the war. A beeping noise that emitted from the controls drew her attention away from the cube. She watched as Schmidt ran over to the controls, to figure out what was going on.

"Damn it!" Schmidt cursed as he hit the console.

He turns to Olivia, "It seems your brother managed to commandeer one of our fighter planes." he informs her.

The young girl watched as the Schmidt takes a seat in the pilot chair and took aim at the fighter plane before firing at it. Her Cerulean eyes watched the scene play out in front of her, praying that her brother wouldn't be killed in that moment. She watches as the plane escaped before a crash was heard at the back of the ship not moments later. Schmidt got up from the pilot chair before making his way over to Olivia. He gripped her left shoulder tightly and dragged her into the shadows. The duo heard the door squeak open and Steve's boot steps coming down the stairs, clearly being on alert.

Schmidt quickly put one of his arms around Olivia's throat, covering her mouth with his hand as well. When he saw Steve reach the front of the cockpit, he charged his gun and steps out of the shadows with Olivia in his grasp. Steve quickly spun around and shielded himself from the shot Schmidt fired.

"You don't give up, do you?" Red Skull taunts.

"Nope!" Steve remarks before he charged at the man and his sister.

Olivia quickly jumped into action, fighting back again before escaping Schmidt's hold as he took another shot at Steve. While the men fought, she made her way over to where the cube was being contained. She had a gut feeling that the object was important and needed to be taking out of here. As the men fought one another, they ended up hitting some buttons and switches on the control panel which caused the ship to immediately angle downwards. Gravity brought the men up to the ceiling as Olivia clung onto the handle that was on top of the cube's containment field.

"Liv! Get to the controls!" Steve called out to his sister while still fighting Red Skull.

"On it!" she called back.

She begins to think up a plan to get to the controls when Schmidt got there first. He fixed the ship, the nose becoming level, which caused the Rogers siblings to drop to the floor.

"You could have the power of the gods!" Schmidt shouted at Steve.

He takes his weapon out of his jacket and fires twice, aiming for the siblings who were quick to duck down to avoid being hit. Olivia continued her attempt in getting ahold of the cube.

"Yet you wear a flag on your chest and think you fight a battle of nations!" Red Skull attempts to shoot Steve once more only to miss yet again.

"I have seen the future, Captain! There are no flags!" he informs.

"Not my future!" Steve yells, before moving to grab hold of his shield that he had previously dropped in the fight before.

He throws the shield directly at Schmidt, who had moved to the front of the ship where the cube was being held. The impact of the shield hitting him sent Schmidt flying backwards, which caused him to slam into the container behind him. It malfunctioned at the sudden impact before opening up and allowing the cube to fall out. Blue energy crackled around the now free cube.

Schmidt got to his feet unsteadily. "What have you done?" he wonders.

He then reached for the cube and stared at it in his grasp, watching the energy emit from it. The cube suddenly lit up the ceiling of the ship, revealing a band of stars to the trio. Steve watched from the other end of the cockpit while Olivia had been standing right next to Schmidt. She watched as he was overwhelmed by the energy the cube was giving off before he was suddenly beamed up. The cube had been left floating momentarily in mid air but, not for long. Olivia grabbed hold of it before letting out a scream as the blue energy had burned her left hand. Steve moved to reach his sister but, he wasn't fast enough in that moment. The second Olivia released the cube, not being able to stand holding onto it any longer, it had burned a hole through the floor of the ship, causing both it and the young girl to fall through. Steve attempted to catch her but, failed...immediately being reminded of Bucky falling off the train as he watched her sister fall to her death.

Olivia freaked out during her descent, limbs flailing around as she did so. Then she noticed that the cube was within her reach. She had seen it transport Schmidt elsewhere so she suspected that it could save her. She calmed herself down before grabbing ahold of the cube with her left hand once more, burning more of her hand and part of her arm in the process of doing so. She prayed to God that it would save her in that moment, before she was submerged into the frozen water of the Atlantic.

Later that night, everyone had gathered around to discuss a plan to take down HYDRA at their main base, their headquarters.

"Johann Schmidt belongs in a bughouse. He thinks he's a God, and he's willing to blow up half the world to prove it, starting with the USA." Colonel Phillips states.

"Schmidt's working with powers beyond our capabilities," Howard Stark informs. "He gets across the Atlantic, he will wipe out the entire eastern sea board in an hour."

"How much time we've got?" Gabe questions.

"According to my new best friend, under twenty-four hours." the Colonel answers.

"Where is he now?" Olivia wonders.

"HYDRA's last base is here." Colonel Phillips points at the photo of the base that he happened to be holding. "In the Alps. Five hundred feet below the surface."

"So, what are we supposed to do?" Jim Morita wonders. "I mean, it's not like we can just knock on the front door."

"Why not?" Steve retorts, making everyone look at him. "That's exactly what we're going to do."

"Seriously?" Olivia asks her brother in curiosity.

Steve looks at her and by the look in his eyes, she knew he was being serious.

"Then I'm coming with you." she tells him.

He gives her a nod. The planning moves forward until they had a whole plan together. Once everyone knew their orders, they all parted ways to get ready for the mission. Steve felt slightly excited that his sister would be joining him in the field, he really did want to see how she'd handle herself and he felt like he'd be able to protect her too with her by his side. Though he second-guessed the last feeling, as he wasn't able to protect Bucky.

Howard had been the one to design a suit for the young Rogers as he had a feeling that she'd join her brother in the field eventually whether or not he was all for it. The inventor matched the girl's color scheme to her brother's suit but, she would be wearing a dark blue romper that had long sleeves, a white star in the middle of the chest area to match her brother's star on his suit, white bands that went around her thighs at the bottom of the romper and Howard had added a couple more stars onto the sleeves of the romper. Once she was dressed in the suit, the inventor handed her a red rounded domino mask and red utility belt for her to put on, as well as brandishing her with a pair of red, vinyl boots.

"Maybe you should put your hair up. That way the enemies can't use it against you." he recommends.

"Good idea." she agrees.

Olivia gathers up her dirty blonde hair and puts it up into a bun, using her scrunchie to tie it up. She then takes in her appearance in the nearby mirror.

"This is so cool." she comments.

"I figured you would like to match with your brother or closely resemble his suit pattern, for appearances and such. " Howard tells her.

She hums thoughtfully, "They call him, Captain America."

She tilts her head a little as she continues to look at her reflection before turning around to face Howard, crossing her arms over her chest.

"So what shall I be called?" she wonders.

Howard thinks about it. "Miss America?" he suggests.

"I am not a pageant girl." she says.

"Okay, how about....Agent Liberty?" (Supergirl?)

"Uh...how about, no." she shoots down.

"Lady America?" Howard offers.

Olivia cringed at the name. "No thanks, I don't like the sound of that. Makes me sound proper and royal, I am not a noblewoman." she tells him.

Howard rolls his eyes before looking at her expectantly.

"Okay, then what do you suggest?" he wonders.

Olivia drops her arms and turns back to the mirror as she thought it over.

"Oh! I got it!" she spins around again, facing Howard once more.

"Call me, Miss Justice." she says, placing her hands on her hips, smiling.

Howard chuckled at her behavior before nodding.

"I like it. Miss Justice it is then."

He watches as she finishes getting ready, making sure she was armed with the right tools for the mission. His smile then dropped from his face, taking on a serious expression.

"I want you to be safe out there, Olivia. You aren't a super soldier like your brother and you're avenging Barnes not getting revenge. Do what you can to your best abilities and try not to get yourself killed." he tells her.

Olivia walked away from the mirror and towards the man. She enveloped him in a hug, and held him tightly.

"Thank you, for everything Howard. You didn't have to step in to the role of a big brother but, you did and I really appreciate that. I know you'll make a great father one day." she tells him.

"Thank you Olivia. Now, try not to do anything stupid out there." he says.

"I'll do my best."

Howard pulls away from the girl, placing his hands on her shoulders as he looked at her.

"I want my favorite Rogers to come back in one piece and preferably unscathed but, this is war so...come back in one piece."

"I prom- I'll do everything I can to return in one piece." she tells him, not wanting to promise something she doesn't have full control over.

Howard embraces the girl once more before sending her on her way, worried about her already.

Being pregnant again was not on Vicki Vale's agenda, not when she's raising fuve boys and taken care of her sister's children to take care of. Trying to keep the pregnancy from the father of her child, Bruce Wayne, wont be easy when she has to interview him at a charity event. But when she throw ups on Jack Ryder's shoes while in mid conversation, there's not much left to hiding it now. Vicki then suddenly find's herself living in Wayne Manor with the kids and learning along the way what it truly means to be a family, oh and visits from alternate reality characters does not help.
