I loathe having discussions with non-intersectional white feminists on the lack of representation of women in the media we had growing up. It's because when I mention the lack of representation of women of color who were not the token POC or full of stereotypes, they respond with "We're talking gender issues, why are you bringing race into this?."
However, they are not the ones who while growing up felt ugly because they weren't white. They're not the ones who had to witness all the boys favoring white girls. They are not the ones who growing up wanted to chemically lighten their skin just to feel pretty for once. They're not the ones who were either sexualized or infantilized because of their race. They are not the ones who so badly hated themselves and their race.
They have the luxury of being seen as women first, and not race first, then women.

This news surfaced yesterday and I just want to say this isn't new. This happened and has been reported more than once. There are also the Yemeni Jewish children who were kidnapped from their mothers by Ashkenazi "nurses", who claimed that the baby is dead, and diagnose the mother with hysteria/mental disorder after.
The lack of regard for people of color in Israel shouldn't come as a surprise at all. How many poc do you see in the government/ knesst despite the number of Ethiopian and Yemeni jews?

"I don't have a religion therefore you can't either" isn't any less colonialist than "my religion is valid and yours is not", by the way, people.

Hey! Do you have an original or fictional character that you'd really like to see get drawn?
Well, I'm giving out free bust shots in exchange for a couple of simple things.
For context, the Kid's Online Safety Act, or KOSA, is a bill meant to "protect children," by that I mean it will put the internet under heavy surveillance and censorship rules. What would be considered as dangerous for children would be completely determined by the government.
This is the government that has decided that conversations about race, sexuality, gender, and mental health are dangerous for kids. What does this mean, then?
It means that if you are a person of color, queer, or neurodivergent, this bill will do whatever it can to wipe you off the face of the internet.
Not only that, but people sixteen years of age or younger would be placed under HEAVY surveillance, which is an extreme breach of privacy.
If this bill passes, the internet will become operated like a fascist regime that hovers over children and completely censors the existence of anyone that isn't white, cishet, and neurotypical. We CANNOT let this happen.
All I ask of you is this: reblog this post, and DM me with proof that you've either signed all of the following petitions or have emailed your representatives. This costs you nothing except a little bit of your time.
Do this, and, as previously stated, I will draw you a bust shot of your original character or otherwise fictional character of your choice.
Here are some examples of what this art would look like:

This offer ends on Monday at 12 AM EST, the same day the bill goes to Senate to be discussed. All art will be completed and sent to the recipients by Monday evening.

sometimes i think about the fact that my very 1st introduction to a (selective?) mute character was a pirate in a Dutch show about pirates. and the fact that seeing that character allowed child me to normalize that in my brain and see it as okay. my point here. normalise 'different'people in shows for kids. like put a gay couple in my cartoon. show disabled people in those dumb adventure kid shows. put POC people in kid movies! normalize the heck outta marginlized groups. so that kids can get used to them. and get introuced to the possibilities!

You’re a grown man with the trauma of a little girl. ... I don’t mean that trans men cannot speak about the misogyny they experienced; it’s just now, most people will look at me and not see the layers of patriarchal violence I experienced. The song “Sweet Cis Teen” asks: Am I a boy or am I just my trauma? But all of my experiences did not magically disappear the moment(s) I realized I am a man, nor were they left behind. It was traumatic being a Chinese woman. I was spat at, harassed, fetishized, assaulted, told that my worth depended on others, my experience and abilities invalidated. My bodymind holds these memories and shapes itself with them, and I do not want to trivialize these memories because they continue to inform who I am and my politics.
this entire essay is worth a read, but the quotations I pulled out are the ones that strike me deeply, being the most relatable to my own FtM experience.

I was thinking about how in middle school I used to wear my natural hair in twists. It’s was back when my hair was really long. Everyday I’d have classmates coming up to me to tug on my hair and watch it bounce. Sometimes they’d ask first, most of the time they did not.
By high school I cut my hair and had an Afro. People would often touch it and usually mess up how I styled it that morning.
Now I’m in college and I constantly get questions asking me if my hair is real. People call my Ice Spice to my face and while laughing secretly, even tho I can still hear them. Mind you I look nothing like Ice Spice, we just happen to both have afros. I’m much darker than she is.
I guess my point is that most do not know how to be normal about black hair. Sometimes it’s balanced out from the amount of compliments I get on it. But it’s exhausting when the majority of people either see my hair as a toy to be played with or the butt of a joke.
