All these gentlemen were drawn as part of the Gondolin Gang series for intea (my deep gratitude for this opportunity and inspiration ♥). Of course I will draw the remaining two, but now I want to show the finished ones 😃

I tried to draw different but stylistically similar and simple outfits, hairstyles and faces, so that one could believe that they live at the same time and in the same place, being in an everyday (medieval) environment - most of them had small bags for small things and clothes whose fit is regulated by a belt and not by patterns.

Egalmot got the most complex background - there's a cat there, did you see it? 🐈

ive had vague concepts for the lords for gondolin floating around my noggin since late 2021, but never really sat down to get em drawn... so during my hiatus i figured i should stop sitting on it after 2917382 years 😴 tho mostly i just wanted to do another relationship chart bc the first three i made in june were! so!! fun!!!

let me know if the text is too hard to read... hopefully it wont be on desktop but ill see what i can do if need be 👍

On the fashion of the Gondolindrim

I have realised that I did quite a research regarding sensible fashion design for the 1st age elves and that I could share what I had learned.

The Gondolindrim live in a secluded valley in abundance. The city’s beauty and glory is close to that of Tirion. They have been living in relative safety for about four hundred years which is more than average American city. They are scholars and artists with multiple cultural influences and a loooot of time on their hands.

Materials

The Gondolindrim would probably use a lot of silk and metal fibres. Oh wait - is someone objecting that the silk moths are proliferating mostly in warmer climates? Totally right. But there are plenty other moths that produce their own kinds of silk and are adapted for colder climates too, the properties of these silks are just not as convenient for weaving as the silk moth’s cocoons. Maybe an obstacle for a human but certainly not for an elf. They probably love layered gowns with subtle embroidery creating 3D impressions and ethereal elegance, or prefer exquisite brocades with ornaments (probably ocassionaly using the house emblems). As for winter fabrics, Silk velvet would be the choice. I can imagine them trying to avoid using too much fur and furs mostly serve as decorative trims.

Egalmoth wearing his complicated attire including layered cloak with goldwork stars and diamonds . His hair is braided, although most of it is loose - probably Glorfindel influenced.

Colouring and patterns

This is the difficult part as each elf has probably their own taste. The lords usually sport their own colours but it doesn’t have to be a rule - they have multiple outfits and since they have their personal lives as well, I highly doubt they strictly stick to their emblem colour. As for the patterns, they don’t need to worry about the fabric waste so their clothes are probably well fitted and flattering. Lower classes clothes are beautiful as well but have probably much looser fit.

Influences and fashion icons

Now we have celebrities and big name fashion brands to set the trends. However, in the past, the nobility was responsible for that. I assume there were three major trend setters influencing the other lords and citizens: Turgon (the king), Egalmoth (aka the rich one) and Glorfindel (the pretty one). Turgon’s gowns (or…Turgowns? I will see myself out) are usually white with red silk lining and subtle but intricate embroidery, combined with some jewellery. As for the length of the robes it probably varies by the occasion. His style is followed mostly by Penlod, who is very fond of white as well. Egalmoth has a thing for jewels and rainbow colours, which makes his clothing extravagant and lavish. He is probably very fond of embroidery and even his outfits for archery trainings are masterfully crafted. His trademark, however, is the goldwork combined with gemstones and beads (a type of embroidery using metallic threads). His ceremonial attires are very complicated, however many elves struggle to follow his example mostly because of the costs. There are several elves that probably managed to customise his style for their needs - for example, Ecthelion is said to be very fond of diamonds. Since he is the lord of the Fountain and probably very fond of water he usually wears subtle blues adorned with sparkly diamonds droplets imitating the rain droplets. Then we have Glorfindel. If you look at eg. Fingon, we know he wears his hair in braids adorned with gold. I can imagine the Noldor in Valinor were fond of difficult hairstyles which probably persists in Hithlum. Glorfindel decided to ditch this trend once for all and leaves his hair loose for everyone to admire. His garment choices are significantly simpler than Egalmoth’s, he is avoiding long robes and his priority is movement and comfort. His favourite fabrics include linen and subtle brocade, sometimes embroidered. His choices are probably the most popular in the city as they usually reflect the nature (which must make the Sindarin citizens very happy). As for the female trend setters, we have Aredhel (but she has taste very similar to Turgon, the only difference would be probably the pattern) and Idril, who probably prefers loosely fitted garments with subtle jewellery. She is known for her negative attitude toward shoes which might be related to her Vanyarin legacy (I imagine Vanyar wearing very simple clothes unlike the crafty Noldor- their priorities don’t concern material things as much).

Salgant’s last outfit is mostly inspired by the King’s style. The short tunic suggests that he is wearing an informal outfit. The cape is made of silver velvet.

Ouch. This was long.

Ecthelion was absolutely NOT involved in this. The silence in the market square was deafening. Turning slowly to look at the golden haired menace he called best friend words still failed him.

Glorfindel stood not three feet from the fountain. Water sloshing against the sides occasionally leaping the walls confineing them. Mouth opening and closing like a landed fish the Lord of the Golden Flower also failed to find words.

Few eyes turned as Rog and Galdor arrived at the scene. Galdor's horrfied gasp was barely heard over the miniscule waves as the elves in the water floundered. Robes hindering attempts to rise. Or move at all.

Rog's inelegant snort of laughter broke the stunning spell of events. Bubbling into a roar of amusement mixed nervous laughter and glowers of indignation turned to him.

Glorfindel was more than relieved at the distraction. Stepping forward he reached for a scroll taking it up and paling at ink dripped with the water from its corner. "I am-" his words silenced as Penlod held up a hand backed by a fierce glare that would have sent the golden haired elf to the Halls had it been a weapon.

"Have you ANY idea the MONTHS of work you have just ruined?!" Thought the words were hissed the deadly promise of anger in them hit the warrior just as hard as if they had been screamed.

Glordindel wisely kept his peace.

Ecthelion looked to the other elf in the fountain and found himself fighting a smile. "Would you like a hand my King?"

Turgon's quiet cursing between bouts of chuckles eased much of the tensions in the square. "First I would like to know WHY these "devices" were set to toss unsuspecting elves unto your fountain." His words held less bites as his robes flopped wetlty over his head while trying to make the side of the fountain.

All eyes turned to Glorfindel. The golden haired fun loving elf of Gondolin colored a shade darker than even the colors of Rog's House flag. "I-uh-well-"

Egalmoth appeared behind his stuttering friend placing a hand on his shoulder in sympathetic support. "Perhaps. Explanations can wait until this rigging is dismantled." He grinned at the water logged elves. "And your state of dress seen to. My King."

Turgon looked to the still fuming Penlod and began to laugh. The water logged elf looked like a wet feline. "Aye. I suppose interrogation can wait."

Penlod snarled. "Think not your punishment will fit what you have wrought Laurë this-" his words cut off his foot slipped reaching the edge of the fountain. Glorfindel winced. Rog roared. Galdor sighed heavily. Egalmoth and Ecthelion simply shook their heads moving foreard to help the two out of their situation.

A/N: Since I have done a couple of these for the elves on different ones I added their previous headcanons for this. The rest are new though. <3 Shout out to @saviorsong for helping me do Galdor’s though I reworked it to fit with the rest of the post. I added her rendition at the bottom.

Turgon

Turgon’s kisses are always done in the privacy of his chambers, where here he can kiss you without any prying eyes. Sometimes they are incredibly slow and lingering, forehead almost pressing against yours as he wraps an arm around your waist to keep flush against him. Sometimes they are deep and fiery full of pent up passion that he has been dying to shower you in, no less gentle with you keeping you as close as he can, needy for such intimacy.

Aredhel

Aredhel always takes the time to meld her lips with yours with some passion, her hands either resting around your neck or she’s gripping the collar of top to keep you close. In no way does she want to part from you the moment your lips are pressed together. So she is always giving you several shared kisses- much to the embarrassment of Turgon. Aredhel certainly isn’t afraid of a little PDA and she is happy to share kisses with you both in public and in private. This means the intensity of her kisses are rather unrestrained.

Maeglin

Maeglin’s kisses are always private and always unrestrained and long. He can never get enough of the way your lips feel against his and often he loves just laying in bed making out with you. Lips always starting out timid and mindful before pressing them firmly against yours. Taking his time to savor the way you feel against him, humming softly as he slowly slips his tongue into your mouth. A hand holding yours keeping it pulled to his chest, with the other arm resting beneath your head.

Glorfindel

Kissing Glorfindel is always such a sweet and tender experience, even despite his more determined younger attitude. His lips are always incredibly warm and soft against yours and they taste faintly of vanilla. Gently he always cradles your face in his hands, while his thumbs gently stroke your cheeks taking his time to taste and savor the way you feel against him.

Ecthelion

Kissing Ecthelion is always going to be a private affair, expect if you do receive any in public eye that they are going to be quick pecks to your lips and maybe a few hand kisses. But should you both be in an empty courtyard or workshop or alleyway, Ecthelion is happy to dote on you with controlled and confident kisses. Never letting himself get carried away, even in your most private chambers Ecthelion takes the lead keeping your head tilted back while he melds his lips to yours.

Rog

For all his rough housing and horse play when Rog kisses you he is utterly delicate and loves to keep you close. Rog is all for PDA but he still likes to keep things pretty toned down in public, but unlike Ecthelion, Rog is more than willing to linger in a public kiss. Bringing his hand up to gently caress your cheek beneath his large hand,

Egalmoth

Egalmoth’s kisses are always suavely done, with great confidence and certainty. There is also most certainly a hint of seduction in his kisses. Bringing a hand up to tilt your head back before he leans in to slowly kiss you, with every single degree of passion behind his lips melding with yours. He’s certainly unafraid to slip his tongue in to taste you, with a hand lightly caressing down your jaw and neck.

Galdor

For all of Galdor’s go with the flow nature, you will find that he is surprisingly teasing when it comes to kissing you. He enjoys the feel of you shuddering beneath the tips of his fingers as he traces over sensitive places like the underside of your arms or down your neck. His lips caressing over yours teasingly before he finally presses them to yours. Even still once his lips press to yours, it is slow and sensual bringing you to yearn for more.

Penlod

Penlod for all his talkative and extroverted behavior, when it comes to kissing he is surprisingly timid and easily flustered by the ordeal. He is unafraid to give you small pecks here or there, especially when no one is looking- propriety and all that. But for something longer it’s something you’ll have to coax out of him. At first he’s very timid, blushing bright red the moment your lips meld together clearly not looking for a peck. Penlod is very restrained and controlled as he continues to kiss you back timidly, finally as you continue and coax him into relaxing do his kisses grow more firm

Duilin

Duilin cares about appearances and you’ll find that the Lord isn’t into a lot of PDA, and prefers that any and most affections are done in private. You’ll find that Duilin will certainly play games with you all day leading up to his kisses, with once overs and looks of appreciation as he passes you by. Or with light and almost teasing like caresses to spare when he can get close to you. Duilin will only then relinquish to kiss you once he has wound you up when you are finally in private, not sparing you your breath as he kisses you passionately.

Galdor’s as likely to rake the tips of his fingers on the underside of your arm to distract you as he is about making the process slow and delirious. His lips gently stroking yours while his thumb holds your chin imobile. Every touch teasing and sensual, until you can’t possibly wait his other hand on the small of your back. Before the agonizingly slow meld of your lips burns it’s way to your core. - Saviorsong is horny…and was also here
