11 Meaningful Pieces In Catherine’s Jewellery Collection That Belonged To Queen Elizabeth II
By Emily Chan
6 December 2023
Tumblr media
First worn by the Princess of Wales in June at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and Princess Rajwa Al Saif in Amman, Jordan, the Greville chandelier earrings were seen on Queen Elizabeth II throughout her reign.
The dazzling diamond earrings made by Cartier were a wedding gift to Her late Majesty from her parents – the Queen Mother had inherited them from Dame Margaret Helen Greville, a British socialite, in 1918.
Catherine was most recently seen wearing the jewels at a Diplomatic Corps reception at Buckingham Palace.
Tumblr media
On Remembrance Sunday this year, Catherine debuted a pair of diamond and pearl leaf earrings that were previously seen on the Queen during a visit to Nigeria back in 2003.
Some experts believe that the earrings may have been detachable pieces from the brooch featuring the same design.
Tumblr media
Commissioned by King George VI, Queen Elizabeth II’s Festoon necklace features 105 loose diamonds that her father inherited when he ascended the throne.
Featuring three strands, the monarch wore the piece on numerous occasions throughout her life, from attending state banquets to posing for official portraits.
The Princess of Wales paid tribute to Her late Majesty by wearing the piece for the official Coronation photograph when King Charles III officially assumed the throne on 6 May.
Tumblr media
The Princess of Wales wore Queen Elizabeth II’s three-strand pearl necklace – an item Her Majesty was famous for – during a Buckingham Palace lunch for the governors-general of the Commonwealth nations prior to the monarch’s funeral in September 2022.
Tumblr media
The then Princess Elizabeth received this jaw-dropping diamond necklace by Cartier from the Nizam of Hyderabad as a wedding gift in 1947.
Featuring a rose motif, the royal picked the necklace herself, along with a matching floral tiara.
The Princess of Wales first wore the statement piece at a gala for the National Portrait Gallery in 2014, before rewearing it at a Buckingham Palace reception for the Diplomatic Corps in 2019.
Tumblr media
Queen Elizabeth II was first photographed wearing these diamond and pearl earrings during her Silver Jubilee celebrations – marking 25 years on the throne – in 1977.
Catherine has sported the earrings a number of times in the past, including after Prince Louis’ birth in 2018 and while visiting Commonwealth troops ahead of the Queen’s funeral.
Tumblr media
Queen Elizabeth II commissioned royal jeweller Garrard to create this four-strand pearl and diamond choker, using pearls sourced from Japan in the early 1980s.
Princess Diana was loaned the piece for a state banquet in honour of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands in 1982, while the current Princess of Wales has worn the necklace on several occasions, including for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary in 2017 and Her Majesty’s funeral in 2022.
Tumblr media
The Princess of Wales debuted Queen Elizabeth II’s emerald and diamond earrings during an evening reception in Jamaica in 2022, along with a matching bracelet.
Both pieces are from Her late Majesty’s emerald tassel suite, which the monarch first wore at a state dinner held for Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates at London’s Claridge’s Hotel in 1989.
Tumblr media
First worn by Queen Elizabeth II during the 1990s, the Princess of Wales has borrowed Her late Majesty’s diamond and pearl leaf brooch a number of times over the years, including on a visit commemorating the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium in 2017.
Catherine wore the piece in tribute to the monarch while attending her funeral procession at Westminster Hall in September 2022.
Tumblr media
The sapphire and diamond earrings
The Princess of Wales borrowed Queen Elizabeth’s sapphire and diamond earrings for a visit to Edinburgh in 2021.
The sapphire earrings are part of a suite of sapphire and diamond jewellery by Asprey, which Her late Majesty added to her collection during the late 1970s.
The Bahrain pearl drop earrings
Featuring two pearls gifted to Her late Majesty by the Hakim of Bahrain as a wedding present, these diamond and pearl drop earrings were also worn by Princess Diana in the 1980s.
The Princess of Wales was first spotted wearing the earrings at a Remembrance Day service in 2016, before going on to wear them for Trooping the Colour in 2019 and Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

Susan Shaw - now available at La Jolie MLN
Jewelry Collections by Susan Shaw now available at La Jolie MLN
HANDMADE IN THE HEART OF TEXAS SINCE 1979
As a young woman inspired by her Southern surroundings, Texas roots, and world travels, Susan began designing her handmade jewelry collection as a creative outlet but it quickly grew to mean so much more.
About The Jewelry from Susan Shaw
Susan Shaw was exclusively wholesale for 35 years, selling to boutiques and luxury gift shops throughout the United States. We are headquartered in San Antonio, TX, where their talented artists make each piece of jewelry by hand, and their marketing, customer service, and fulfillment teams all work under the same roof.
FAQs:
What is handcast gold?
All Susan Shaw jewelry is either 24Kt handcast gold plated or handcast sterling silver plated. Handcasting is a plating method done by hand. This method produces the most consistent and highest quality plating possible and is far superior to standard machine plating. Their pieces are handcast with three coats of 24Kt gold or sterling silver. All items are plated over a lead-free, nickel-free base metal.
Is your pearl jewelry real?
None of their jewelry is made using plastic pieces. All items are comprised of genuine freshwater pearls or semi-precious stones, including genuine turquoise, quartz, coral, onyx, and agate. Their cotton pearl collection is unique and unlike genuine pearls. A cotton pearl contains a tightly wound inner-layer of cotton with a paper-maché-like outer layer. They are extremely light weight, giving you the benefit of bigger pearls without the bulky weight.
How long are the necklaces and bracelets?
Short necklaces featured are generally 16" and each include a 3" extender chain, and comfortably worn between 16-19". Longer chains are generally 30".
Bracelets are generally 7.5" to 8" but depend on the design and materials used. All product pages should include a piece's length and their team is working on model images for all designs for size reference.
How do I clean my Susan Shaw jewelry?
As is the case with all jewelry regardless of manufacturer or method of plating, alcohol based sprays (such as perfume and hairspray), if sprayed directly on to the pieces, may over time eat away at the silver or gold plate. In order to preserve the original state of the jewelry, Susan Shaw suggests you simply apply your sprays before putting on any jewelry. To clean your jewelry, use a dry microfiber cloth.

Signed Winard vintage costume jewelry
The history of the American company Winard Jewelry Co. covers two periods – a fairly short one from 1946 to 1958, and from 1964 to 2005.
Located in New York NY, a small jewelry company produced exquisite jewelry in very limited editions, and sold them in jewelry boutiques. Traditionally, craftsmen used 10, 12, and 14 carat gold fillings. Accordingly, jewelry markings include the Winard company name and the purity of the gold filling, such as 12K G.F. Also, the craftsmen of this company used precious stones – corals, pearls, jade and ivory. Distinguished by exquisite designs, quality materials and meticulous handcraft, Winard jewelry is rare in the vintage jewelry market, and highly collectible .
Noteworthy, Winard closed its doors in 1958, but six years later the company was reborn. According to Official Gazette of the United States Patent Office, Winard Inc. registered two trademarks on March 27, 1964 – “Winard” and “Elm”. Both companies produced men’s and ladies jewelry – tie clips, cuff links, key chains, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, brooches, hair pins, and anklets. The materials and product labeling have not changed since 1964. Accordingly, it is very difficult to determine the period of manufacture of a product, whether it was made in the 1940-50s or in the 1960-80s. The companies ceased to exist in 2005.

Design Era : Late Victorian. Era Information : The Late Victorian or Aesthetic period was a time of great cultural and artistic flourishing in Europe and the United States, and this was reflected in the jewelry of the time. The Aesthetic movement, which emphasized beauty and art for art's sake, was particularly influential on jewelry design during this time. Late Victorian or Aesthetic period jewelry is known for its intricate detailing and use of precious materials such as gold, silver, and diamonds. It often featured motifs such as flowers, animals, and nature scenes, and was inspired by a variety of cultural movements, including the Arts and Crafts movement, which sought to return to traditional craftsmanship and natural materials. One of the most distinctive features of Late Victorian or Aesthetic period jewelry is its emphasis on the use of enamel. Enamel is a type of glass-like material that is fused to a metal surface, and it was often used to add color and detail to jewelry. The French firm, Cartier, was particularly known for its use of enamel in its Late Victorian or Aesthetic period pieces. Late Victorian or Aesthetic period jewelry remains popular and is highly collectible to this day. It is often associated with the elegance and refinement of the time period, and is often seen as a symbol of wealth and sophistication.. Materials : Diamond, Pearl. Material Information : Pearl Pearls are small, round, and lustrous objects that are produced by certain types of mollusks, which are invertebrate animals that belong to the phylum Mollusca. Mollusks include a wide range of species, including oysters, clams, mussels, snails, and octopuses, among others. While all mollusks have the ability to produce pearls, only a few varieties are able to create gem-quality pearls that are suitable for use in jewelry. These include the oysters that produce akoya pearls, the freshwater mussels that produce freshwater pearls, and the South Sea and Tahitian pearls, which are produced by large saltwater oysters. Pearls are formed when an irritant, such as a grain of sand or a parasite, enters the mollusk and becomes trapped inside its shell. In response to the irritant, the mollusk secretes a substance called nacre, which coats the irritant and eventually forms a pearl. The quality of a pearl is determined by a number of factors, including its size, shape, color, and luster. High-quality pearls are prized for their beauty and are used in a variety of different types of jewelry, including necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Old-mine-cut diamond The old mine cut is a type of diamond cut that was popular in the 1700s and was most prevalent during the Georgian and Victorian eras. It is similar to today's cushion cut and is characterized by a squarish girdle with gently rounded corners, a high crown, a small table, and a large, flat culet. Old mine cut diamonds are known for their antique charm and character, and they are often used in vintage-style jewelry. They have a softer, more romantic look than modern diamond cuts, which tend to have more precise geometry and a higher level of brilliance. Old mine cut diamonds are typically less expensive than diamonds with more modern cuts because they require less labor and material to produce. They are often used as accent stones in jewelry designs or as the main gemstone in vintage-style pieces. Despite their lower price, old mine cut diamonds can still be beautiful and valuable, and they are a popular choice for those who appreciate the unique charm and character of antique jewelry. 14k 14k gold is a popular choice for use in jewelry because it is durable, yet still relatively affordable compared to higher karat golds like 18k or 24k. It is made up of 58.5% pure gold and is mixed with other metals to make it harder and more durable. 14k gold is available in a range of colors, including yellow, white, and rose, and is commonly used in a variety of jewelry pieces such as rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. One of the advantages of 14k gold is that it is more resistant to wear and tear than pure gold, which makes it suitable for everyday wear. However, it is still softer than other alloys such as stainless steel or platinum, so it may require more maintenance to keep it looking its best. Overall, 14k gold is a popular choice for those who want the look and feel of gold, but at a more affordable price point.. Dimensions : Pendent measures H 4 x L 0.8 x W 0.6 cm. Chain is 40 cm in length.. Gender : female. Weight (in grams) : 3. Condition : Very good condition - slightly used with small signs of wear. Offers : no. https://www.binenbaum.com/product/diamond-pearl-14k-drop-necklace-941-0764/

How To Identify If Opal Is Real Or Fake
Tumblr media
Overview
Opal is a colourful gemstone that is sometimes referred to as the queen of gems. It is a pearl-like white gem with glossy lustre. Opal exhibits a charming interplay of vivid colours throughout its entire surface. It is an exceptional gemstone that produces stunning Birthstone Jewelry. During the month of October, opal is the birthstone. Opal, October Birthstone, looks stunning on display as an Opal Ring, Opal Bracelet, Opal Necklace, Opal Earrings or Opal Pendant.
Opal is thought to be ruled by Venus, according to astrology. The goddess of love, joy, and beauty is known as Venus. Opal rings, Opal Pendant or Opal Bracelets are a love charm due to its associations with Venus. Venus represents human desire, and those who wear it are granted all of their heart's wishes. As wearing Opal Jewelry would foster creativity, opal is known as the muse of artists. When set in 925 Sterling Silver Jewelry, the characteristics of opal will be improved. All the benefits of opal can be reaped when worn with the natural Gemstones and not a fake copy of it. You have a good probability of purchasing a synthetic gemstone given the market's high demand for this gemstone.
How to Differentiate Between Natural Opal and Synthetic Opal There are synthetic copies of the stunning Opal Jewelry on the market, but they lack the power of the genuine gemstones. Fake opals made of synthetic materials, glass, and plastic are also common. The appearance of the synthetic gemstones can be used to identify them since they might have a columnar structure or lizard skin-like surface texture. Knowing how to distinguish between natural and synthetic opals will help you avoid buying Opal Jewelry made of synthetic opal. The natural Wholesale Gemstone Jewelry holds magic within which isn't the case for the synthetic gemstones.
Opals made in laboratories might be hard to spot. It is simpler to spot those composed of plastic, resin, or glass. Glass opals are made in a variety of colours that are intended to resemble natural opals physically. The false glass opals often fall into one of two categories: opalescent glass, which has a sheen-like gloss that, to the untrained eye, may resemble real opal, and slocum stone, which is a silicate form of glass. A form of man-made material called opalite, which has an opalescence effect, is occasionally used to make false opals. It is essential for you to purchase your Wholesale Gemstone Jewelry from a reputable supplier because the majority of Opal Jewelry items on the market are made with these fake Gemstones.
When the triplets or doublets are submerged in water for an extended period of time, the glue holding the layers together deteriorates, allowing water to seep through. 5% of natural opals are discovered in Mexico, the Western United States, and Honduras, while 95% are found in Australia. Pricing is another technique to tell the difference between real and fake opal. This means that even though the stone is reasonably priced, it isn't seen as a particularly inexpensive purchase. Opal is priced in the middle of the range. This implies that even while Opal Jewelry items are reasonably priced, they aren't regarded as a particularly cheap purchase.
Examining its surface against light is another approach to confirm its legitimacy. When examined, you can tell if your gemstone is real or fake because the replica frequently has bubbles. The interaction of hues highlights the brilliant brilliance of Opal Jewelry. Viewing your Wholesale Gemstone Jewelry under a bright white light is a fantastic technique to ensure its authenticity. The gem is most likely real if its surface displays an idyllic kaleidoscope of colours. If you examine your gemstone in bright light and detect neat, nearly symmetrical patterns, it may not be genuine.
You could see a perfectly straight line encircling the fake gemstones when seen from the sides. At the end of the day, only a qualified expert is capable of accurately inspecting an opal. If your stone is real or fake, the expert will be able to tell you for sure. As a result, we strongly advise that you have your Wholesale Gemstone Jewelry examined by an expert if you are unsure about the opal's genuineness.

Fashion Anklets
youtube
Anklets, ankle chains, and ankle bracelets are all forms of ankle jewellery. In India, unmarried women have worn anklets and toe rings for decades. In the United States, however, they were popular in the late 20th century, both as everyday accessories and for more formal occasions. Casual leather anklets are popular among women who walk shoeless on a regular basis, while more formal anklets made of silver, gold, or beads are typically a component of fashion jewellery for women.
Rarely will you find a link of chain connecting the ankle chains in order to restrict your stride. Once common in the Middle East, this technique has fallen out of use. Its intended effect was to create a 'feminine' trip-step gait. Some modern Western ladies still do this, but only behind closed doors. Only a tiny fraction of the population wears 'permanent,' or soldered-on, ankle chains, and even less frequently do they wear the connecting chain.
Crafting materials for trendy anklets
Gold anklet bracelets for women's fashion can be crafted from a wide variety of materials, including valuable metals like silver and gold and less expensive metals like brass and copper, as well as more common ones like leather, plastic, nylon, and other synthetics. Anklets and ankle chains are primarily utilised by younger women in the West, while some elderly women do use them as well. There are two kind of metal anklets: those that bend and those that don't. In India, they commonly refer to the flexible ones as Pajeb or Jhanjhar, which are constructed by connecting together individual links. After that, melodious bells can be strung along the chain to accompany the walker. Rigid ones are often made by bending a flat metal sheet into the desired shape.
Ankle bracelets and bracelet styles
Anklet prices, like those of other forms of jewellery, range widely based on factors like design, production method, and material. A wide spectrum of ladies, from preteens to elderly, wear them as an ornament. In today's vast and varied consumer market, you can choose from countless unique options. Beaded, Sterling Silver, Yellow Gold, White Gold, Pearl, Charm, Diamond, Gemstone, Birthstone, Coral, Turquoise, Crystal, Shell, Rhinestone, Cubic Zirconia, Nickle, and Brass anklets are all popular choices.
Anklets in fashion: proper etiquette for wearing them
Anklets in the fashion industry can be either very loose or quite tight. First things first, you need to settle on a look and think about how well it would flatter your figure. Anklets can be worn either on top of or below the ankle bone. As a result, if you keep a few guidelines in mind, selecting the right style and size will be a breeze. Decide how you'd want to wear the ankle bracelet first. How snug or loose do you want it to be? Do you want it to sit above or below your ankle bone? Never forget that the choice of anklet can shift based on the event, the shoes you plan to wear, and the overall style of the anklet. A variety of factors, such as the anklet's tightness or looseness and the presence or absence of a dangling bead or crystal, can contribute to the anklet's overall style.
Accessorizing with fashion anklets; anklets and shoe styles
Find out if you want to wear anklets with the sandals or shoes first. Both form and proportion can shift in this regard. Anklet height should be above the ankle bone to prevent the dangling bead or crystal from getting inside your shoes and making you uncomfortable. As we can see from this illustration, beaded anklets are best worn above the ankles when wearing shoes. When wearing sandals or flip-flops, however, this sort of anklet can be worn lower on the ankle. Anklets that can be adjusted in length allow you to wear them above or below the ankle bone, and in a variety of loose or tight configurations.
Anklet sizing for fashion
Before you go shopping for an anklet, it is crucial that you measure your ankle. The best way to measure something is with a soft tape. Anklet shopping requires some preliminary planning to determine the type of accessory you're looking for. It's also important to plan ahead and decide if you'll wear it with sandals or shoes. After giving some thought to the aesthetic and footwear preferences, it is time to take some measurements to determine a size range. A gentle measuring tape is required. Alternatively, you can use a string and a ruler. Using the measuring tape or string, determine your leg circumference just above and just below the ankle bone. Check the accuracy of your string measurement with a ruler. A more precise reading can be obtained with the help of the soft tape.
Anklets in vogue, available in a wide range of styles and sizes
As a final point, strive for a wide range of offerings. Anklets of varying styles and sizes that can be worn above or below the ankle bone can be found in abundance on the market. You can wear these anklets with sandals or shoes, depending on your preference. From every angle, a length-adjustable anklet is preferable to a single, predetermined option. Anklets tend to loosen up over time, which is an issue if the anklet is a fixed style, but not if it is an adjustable anklet, which can be resized to fit the wearer's ankle more snugly or more comfortably.

The name “onyx” comes from the Greek word for “claw” or “fingernail,” which is a reference to its fragile nature. Black onyx was especially popular in ancient Rome, where people used it to make cameos and signet rings. The stone was also thought to have magical properties and was used as a talisman to ward off evil. It is also said to represent strength, power, and determination. When layers of agate are put down on top of each other, they form black onyx. Cavities containing silicon-rich fluids are where the agate crystallizes. As the agate grows, it slowly replaces the original material in the chamber, layer by layer. Black onyx gems are usually polished into cabochons or made into beads for jewelry. It's a very hard stone, making it ideal for crafting into different jewelry pieces, but you can also use it for other purposes, such as in decorative objects or as part of a gemstone collection. Brazil, China, Uruguay, Australia, and the United States are just some of the places on the globe where you might unearth these gemstones.
Color & Properties of Black Onyx Gemstone
The color of black onyx is a deep, intense shade of black that also hints at streaks of grey as well as white. These attributes, combined with its lovely polished surface, have made black onyx the most popular of all the forms of onyx in the world.  The rugged and durable properties of black onyx make it a good choice for jewelry pieces that are worn daily, such as rings, bracelets, and necklaces. It has a Mohs hardness of 7 and a specific gravity of 2.65-2.85. Black onyx is composed of silicon dioxide. Some of the stone's other physicochemical properties are: - Refractive index: 1.544-1.553 - Birefringence: 0.009 - Cleavage: None - Fracture: Conchoidal - Crystal system: Hexagonal - Mineral class: Oxides and hydroxides The different types of black onyx include: - Natural black onyx: This kind of black onyx is by far the most common, and it comes in a wide range of shades of black, from pitch-black to black with white bands to brownish black. - Enhanced black onyx: This type of black onyx has been treated with dyes or other chemicals to enhance its color. Price Range: How Much Does Black Onyx Gem Cost
Black onyx gemstones can cost anywhere from $25 to $100 per carat.  But what about the black onyx rings? Black onyx rings are the perfect way to add a touch of class and elegance to any outfit. Their price can range depending on the stone's quality and the ring's design. For example, a black onyx ring with a simple design may cost less than $100, while a black onyx ring with a more intricate design may cost upwards of $1,000.  While black onyx is not as expensive as some other gemstones, it is still a beautiful stone that makes for a stunning piece of jewelry.
Some Benefits of Wearing the Black Onyx Gemstone
Capricorn natives may reap the astrological advantages of the black onyx gemstone due to the planet Saturn's connection to this stone. There is a common belief that donning this gemstone can provide good fortune and shield you from evil. Black onyx is also the birthstone for the month of February. It is said to promote strength and stamina and to encourage healthy decision-making. Whether you believe in astrology or not, there is no denying that the black onyx gemstone is a beautiful and eye-catching piece. But, apart from the astrological benefits of black onyx, its physical benefits are also numerous. For one, it boosts the immune system and promotes healing.
