I caught this as part of a CBC From the Vaults program that gave some of the context and more of the interviews they did for original, including one with author Tom Wolfe. The inclusion of modern day commentary from the hosts was also a nice touch, with Adrienne Clarkson remarking on the scene as a sort of “phosphorescence of decay” of the England that was.

(My) Top Ten Classic Animated Christmas Specials
Okay, the title is pretty self-explanatory. This is MY list. You may agree with some of my choices here…or not…but it’s subjective. What we can ALL agree on is these were fun when we were kids, and still are!
A couple of caveats before we begin…this list is gonna be heavy with Rankin/Bass stuff. No way around it. Also, the word “classic” is flexible and is not used only in the context of…

Do You Recall the Most Famous Reindeer of All?
Come now, children, while I tell you the tale of the later 1900’s when Rankin/Bass Claymation ruled the holiday season. Long before “Elf,” “Fred Clause,” and “Arthur Saves Christmas,” all we watched (at least in my family) were the Rankin/Bass collection when it aired on basic cable, and we liked it! This brings me to 1964’s “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” While Rudolph is not the FIRST…

well look who's answering to the consequences of his actions
so it was Alice after all! …gotta say, the shoes definitely were misleading in this. Then again Sage probably forgot what her original footwear even looked like.
the Blackfog crew is onto Hyde now though, he can't bullshit his way outta this one
can I say Carmilla is hot…such a classy vampire…
also this angle. this fucking angle. he looks so stupid like a huge bird dear lord.
love the way Hyde is panicking to the point he starts transforming! really adds more sense to his earlier comment about how easily it can be triggered by now
though…don't think this is the most appropriate or convenient time to do so. Jekyll would be screwed to hell if so.
then again I want them both to suffer so go ahead, but seriously, it wouldn't do any favours for Jekyll's reputation if Hyde does transform.

things @charismabee and i have said today while planning a new hatchetfield au:

"they have 1 braincell and 0 muscle (alice has the braincell)"
"i only speak tiny now. u crushes my heart." "crushes."
"gosh dang it." "i am large. fear me."
"(insert extensive explanations of our respective countries' schooling systems)"
"she dates paul, she gets all the childruns. it's the rules."
"ted keeps accidentally barking, paul forgets about cutlery, richie can't sleep in a bed anymore. they're so messed up."
"being without fingers made him have an epiphany."
"if ur going to bully him just beat him up, here max will demonstrate"
"noooooo" "yes." "D:" ">:)"
"alice and deb are just making out in the background." "good for them :)"
"paul, ted and bill all awkwardly hanging out in bill's living room during a 'playdate' with their kids. alice is only going along with this because she wants her dad to have friends. the playdate was for him all along."
"bomb and child v five ancient gods. betting pool is now open." "bomb and child win."
"he finally comes out, and melissa is gone. some of his employees have traces of eldritch powers now. there are children."
