Feb. 2024

Been a busy week

Its been pouring rain here in california all week, one cat is cold so he keeps trying to cuddle the other cat. (This is the progress hes made lol)

Also another one of our tenants left so ive been demoing and patching and ripping up floors w/my brother so im exhausted and when i get home i make dinner and watch some garbage tv to relax or play minecraft

(And i made the most delicious shepherds pie on sunday so heres a photo of that)

(Hot tip from your local tumblr landlord- leaving things you think ‘the next person will want’ is just leaving your garbage. Dont fucking do that. I dont want your planter/spice rack/toilet storage rack/squatty potty/extra toilet paper/door hooks. Thats fuckin trash bro and now i had to spend time hauling it to the trash for you. Yes my time and energy costs money.)

Also if you take anything from reading all this just remember this: to remove those lil command strips for hanging things on your wall, pull the tab straight down towards the floor. Thats how they work. (I literally just figured this out myself actually like wtf)

I have been locked outside of my house.

Went out to go watch the dogs while they go potty. Thinking I was going to head back to the stream. Then I hear a big crash. Tries to open the back door.

Nope.

Our little planter stand has fallen over. Probably cuz one of our blind boys was hiding underneath there and jumped off.

I cannot get inside.

My only other options is to rip open the gate that has been tied in place or I bother my mom who is in an important meeting.

I have opted to do none of these options and just sit outside. Hopefully my mom gets done with her meeting at some point.

Sims 4 Bunker Challenge

Can your Sims survive in a self-sufficient bunker for several generations?

This challenge requires:

Eco lifestyle

Recommended:

More woodworks mod

Woodworking Custom Furniture Mods (especially recommending 3 and 4)

City Living/Island Living/Cottage Living for extra lot challenges

Nifty Knitting

Outdoor Living for even more woodworks included with the more woodworks mod

To start out, roll a number between 4 and 8. This is your household size you will start with. Then, roll for each of your survivors' ages and gender settings. You may reroll all ages and gender settings if:

You have no teens, young adults or adults.

You don't have at least one Sim who can get pregnant and one that can get others pregnant.

Customize your survivors however you like, but make sure they're not related to one another.

Then, build them a starter budget bunker of a maximum of 100 basement tiles. You may decorate above ground however you like, but you may not place any walls above ground. Give the lot the off the grid challenge, if you have the appropriate packs, also add Quake Zone, Simple Living and Volcanic Activity. Good luck.

You may use most items you want, but to start you require:

A woodworking bench

A fabricator

A planting plot or vertical garden

A bug farm

A power generator

A water generator

A recycler

A number of seed packets

Solar panels, solar roofing and dew collectors are forbidden, since they'd need to be outside. Computers, tvs and tablets are forbidden because there's no internet and no tv signal.

The number of items that are allowed to be bought is limited, you can only buy the following build mode items:

Woodworking benches

Power generators

Water generators

Fabricators

Candle making stations

Juice fizzers

Bug farms

Planters

Vertical gardens

Chicken coops

Knitting baskets

Laundry tubs and drying racks

Bee boxes

If you don't use any of the woodworking mods, you may buy the cheapest version of essential items you cannot craft (fridges, stoves, counters, sinks, potties)

You may replace furniture that is lost in a fire, it counts as repairing it. All bought furniture must be placed inside the bunker. All other items must be crafted by the Sims themselves. Where do they get the materials? Idk this is not a realism challenge.

Enter your Sims into the bunker and remove the entrance. The goal is to have them survive in there for as many generations as possible. The following rules apply:

Your Sims may never leave the bunker.

Your Sims may not use their phones.

Every day at midnight, you may add an additional basement square to build out your bunker. You may add walls, stairs, ladders, doors, wallpapers and flooring at any time you like.

The challenge ends when there are no two Sims who can have a baby together left.

Okay everything is officially off the patio except my planter, which i guess has been condemned to soak up water RIP. We put some bricks and the heavy hose inside so it really shouldn't move, at least

But everything else movable from the backyard, I no longer have to worry about. Even my hibiscus and the grill were brought into the garage

One issue will be when the dogs need to go potty--they hate the rain 😅 I've set out some puppy pads but I doubt they'll use them. I'll just have to try and bring them outside whenever there's a lull

Let it Rain! I’m very excited my husband installed our rain barrel this weekend- hopefully in time to catch a bit of rain within the next 10 days as forecasted. Up until now we used buckets to catch rain. I enjoy watering my houseplants and outdoor pots with rain water to take advantage of the natural nutrition it contains. I know there are bad things potentially in the rain water as well these days, but it is my hope the good outweighs the bad! Grass always seems to look greener after a rain shower vs sprinkling. This particular model of rain barrel allows for the top to become a planter so I’m envisioning planting something within it that likes afternoon shade and spills over - maybe trailing vinca? The two pots in front of the barrel hold upright elephant ears in the summer (previously planted to hide the A/C). Something I just noticed in the last pic is Barney intently supervising our work in the background. Recently I found myself completely overwhelmed with the amount of build buy cc I had in my game. I had so much that it was really hard to navigate and find certain items. And so, I decided to reduce my bb cc down by only having items from a couple of my favourite creators. And yes, I admit there’s still a lot of items on this list, but believe me it’s a whole lot less than what I used to have.

Like my mods list & my CAS resources list I’ve put this post together mainly for my personal use, so that I have one source for all my bb cc when I need to update or find them, but if anyone else finds it useful that’s great too.

(captions~) Axel finally asked for a new greeting, so he swapped to leg day again~ I also caught him chasing a butterfly behind Raymond’s house which seemed awkward. When I went down later I saw Raymond was investigating a flower on the left of his house, so Axel ran right past him, heh!

Later on, the only beached animal that had something new for me was Renee with her plastic clothing organizer, so I chose her instead of making the gallery Lottie asked for.

Based on her thought bubble, I intensified the ideas I used for Lobo’s house, and made Renee’s house an abandoned lot, with construction equipment scattered around... Okay, imagine the perfectly intact excavator is rusted and broken down, maybe the scoop and arm have fallen to the ground. A construction company wouldn’t just abandon a perfectly good piece of equipment, right!?

Anyway, check under the cut to see what I did with the abandoned house~

Croissant laughed. pic 3: Axel was chasing a butterfly, but it just looked weird that he was behind Raymond's house, haha. pic 4: I swapped out the leaf campfire, and gave him some leaf piles, along with lowering the volume on his recorder! pic 5: 'Hmm, empty lots...' Croissant thought. pic 6: "They have free refills here, ma'am," Croissant pointed out on the drink menu she was eyeing, pic 7: This just sounded so sweet, aww~ pic 8: Yeah, the title doesn't quite match my idea, huh? pic 9: I needed somewhere flat! pic 10: And here's the abandoned lot, complete with a dying flower garden and a porta potty that you /definitely/ shouldn't use!

I should’ve put a nerdy-looking shirt in front of the fences... This idea just came about because lately I’ve been focusing on Resident’s favorite colors, and Renee’s faves are purple and yellow!

Hmm, I’m not sure if the retro bus stop really works well indoors, but I love that secret squatting room I made for Renee! ...I forgot to rotate that organizer that’s blocked by the owl clock, though. I placed that clock last, bc I wanted minimal wall decorations. (I specifically turned off the camera, btw! She messed with it bc the owners were trying to catch her squatting in the act.)

The yellow hanging moss was a nice touch~ Since it’s a 1x1, it’s easier to rotate compared to Lucky’s vine-covered ceiling!

And this was just to get a better look at the owl clock and how the items are hid. I love the little detail of her watering her coconut planter, and the small fishing spot outside, since the border of the plot goes right up against a pond!

I liked this picture that showed off how abandoned it was~

The star clip under her ear is so cute! And that sleeveless hoodie is awesome on her~

Stupid late bedtimes, killing my ability to jump on here and post anything. I just can't write decent length text posts on the mobile app, too hard. Anyways, hello!

I'm worn out. With good weather comes being outside more and later days, which is great and I'm enjoying it but I'm also low on patience and need more time for myself. I will say that the girls are getting closer to being ages where I can "sit-ervise" when we're outside more, once they learn how to pump their legs on swings so I no longer have to push them it'll be amazing.

Potty training is progressing with Lucy, still having some issues with certain things but that's normal and it'll take more time to stop having accidents altogether. Definitely not my favorite thing about parenting, really dislike potty training and am glad that this is the last time I have to do it.

We went to a nursery today and picked up a lot of fun things to put in our planter, I have to figure out how to fit things and if I need to try and make space elsewhere in the yard but really happy with what we got. I even got two pumpkin plants, really hoping those grow well because those would be so fun to have in the fall.

My in laws have all recovered from their bouts with covid, my BIL and SIL were really fine after a few days but my MIL and FIL took about 3 weeks to be up for even going for a small walk. They're still not fully recovered, still get tired really easily and have a couple of other lingering issues. Alex and I are now fully vaxxed, thankful for that.

My summer is slowly filling up and I'm anxious about it, going from last summer where we did nothing to slowly seeing more friends and doing more things is weird.

Create a single sim (just one sim)

Appearance: Can be whatever you choose

Traits:Can be whatever you choose

Aspiration: Musical Genius or Master Maker

Life Span: Long

Game play Process:

1. Must move into a one bedroom apartment in San Myshuno (city living) or Evergreen Harbor (eco lifestyle)

2. Remove all furniture and wall paper.

3. Buy either a guitar or keyboard.

4. Remove all money.You can only make money buy selling items using the sales table, playing instrument for tips, singing for tips and dumpster diving for money. Items to sell are (fish,frogs,fizzy juice other inventory items) only one sales table.

5.You cannot move into your home lot until you pay your first set of bills and have your your first sets of furniture.

6. You can live/hangout at a community space to keep your needs filled but only with these items a full bathroom (shower/tub/toilet/sink) A sofa for you to nap on, a mini refrigerator and a microwave (if you don't have a mini one use regular). The community space needs a sale table no more than 4,only 2 fizzy stations, 2 recycle machines, 2 fabricators, and no more than 4 dumpsters to dive in and 4 garden planters.

7. Once you have ten or more dumpster furniture pieces (sofa,tv,tables,stereo,painting,beds,etc) in your inventory you can place them in your home. Any duplicate items you can sell but you must keep one of them.

8. After putting furniture in home go back to live mode and you can select only one furniture piece to repair/replace with the money you made from selling duplicate items.

9. After repairing or replacing item you must get rid of all your money again. Repeat the process from number 7.

10. You are only allowed to make money from singing (get tips) playing guitar or keyboard, selling fizzy juices, frogs, metals, crystals, plants,fish etc from a yard sale table at your community space. Of course digging in dumpsters for simoleons.

11.Once your apartment is completely furnished from the dumpster items and everything is fixed and clean then and only then you can start the acting gigs. Only one acting gig can be completed every week. After your first gig you can start buying wall paper for your home.If you don't want to act then you can join the entertainment career.

12.Once you max out either your keyboard or guitar skill then you can date. Your mate can move in with you but cannot work he/she can work on their skills though.

13. Once you have a mate living with you can have a baby. It is up to you to make your money to buy the basic items your toddler will need. Potty, highchair, bed, a toy.

14.You cannot move out until you have made it to the top of the acting/entertainer career. When you do move you have to move into a mansion with a butler or maid or both. So start saving now!

15.Once you become famous you must share your wealth in a charity event etc. Throw a dinner party, house party, on different days and receive gold. If you don't you have to throw the parties again until you do.

16.When all objectives are complete you can keep playing and do whatever you want from there.

It’s been months since Scar arrived at the pump station. He made sure he made the fence stronger in case of it falling down due to walkers banging and leaning on it. He would start his days by fishing early in the morning, it seemed to be the most quiet time and the most save to be out of the pump station.

He’d try and catch at least three big fish before heading back to his shelter. This would last him 2 days. When heading back he would check the wild herbs that grew around in the area, whilst also checking for traps to hopefully have caught a bunny or squirrel, though it seemed even they were hiding from all of this.

When the sun starts to rise he would check on his little garden in planter boxes he had made. He grew some herbs and some taro roots, the other plant hadn’t yet grown so he wasn’t sure what seeds he had found. He hoped for it to be some fruit at least, or maybe even some vegetables.

When this was all done, he would check on his wind turbine on top of the roof to see if it was still working and generating power. Then for the rest of the morning he would stand guard and watch over the small city to see if a group of walkers would move through and maybe even survivors. He’d still hope he would see some of his friends again one day.

When the sun would rise at it’s highest point, Scar would go inside and prepare himself a meal whilst escaping the heat, he had not yet found sunscreen to protect his skin. He has to make another run for supplies soon. After having filled his stomach, he suddenly got very tired and decided to take a nap. Though his nap took longer than expected.

A couple months back: Through the eyes of Elsa.

When Elsa arrived home from the small school building their island had build, she found her father passed out on the floor, having turned blue and was no longer alive. “Papa?” She said whilst she placed her hand on the glass. She stood there for a while before trying to open the door, it’s locked. A small backpack, with inside a bottle of water and some food, was standing next to the door with a small note attached to it.

Elsa, Your sister had turned and before we knew we got bit. Please run and find safety, we have locked the door so we can’t harm any other people. You must go Elsa, find a community somewhere, we will be off to a better place. And don’t forget to try and help people you come across. We love you, Papa, Mama and Sofia.

Elsa teared up, she was so scared of this day since she was born. Her mother was pregnant with her when this all started. She put on her backpack and started to run to the nearest rowboat she could find. But halfway there she broke down, she was only 10, how was she supposed to do this?

She dropped her backpack and cried it all out for a while, regaining her strength before putting on her backpack again and heading for the nearest rowboat. She put her stuff in and untied the rope that was attached to the docks. She then set foot in the boat and sat down, starting to row her way away from the island and main land, out onto the ocean.

She had fallen asleep at night, not knowing her little rowboat would continue to float in whatever way the ocean was taking her. When waking up she was surrounded by water, no land to be seen. She was scared, she knew Nessie was in these waters but no one knew if she was friendly or evil. After rowing for most of the day, with the sun slowly going down, Elsa got tired. She ate her sandwich and took a bit of water before going to sleep for another night at sea again.

Elsa woke up by what felt like a tug on the boat, she sat up and looked around to see that the boat was getting pulled by something. The rope was in the water but when Elsa looked into the big endless waters, she couldn’t see what it was. The sun was rising which meant she had slept for quiet a while. When she looked into the direction of where the boat was being pulled she could see the faint land she was heading towards. “Oasis Springs!”. She yelled out and before she knew it, she was slowly making her way to shore.

Jumping out of the boat and tying it to a dead palm tree, she put on her backpack and started to walk. But before she set foot on the road she looked back wondering what creature brought her here. Maybe it was Nessie? As she walked along the road it seemed quiet, some dead walkers were lying here and there so she was very careful anyway. Soon the cries of a toddler could be heard and it drew her attention. “Try and help others you come across...” she remembered from the note and with that she started running.

Upon arriving at a mansion she spotted a little toddler stuck in the hallway, in the room next to her were two walkers and in the kitchen was another one, they couldn’t get to her. “I’ll come and help you little one!” She said to the toddler before searching for a stone. Upon finding one she rushed back to the big glass door. “You have to move back a bit? ok?” she said though the toddler didn’t seem to understand so Elsa made hand movements to suggest she had to go back, and so the toddler did.

Elsa smashed the window and quickly helped the toddler out, on her little shirt it said “Angelica”. Elsa quickly walked away with her to a small little place she felt was safe. She opened her backpack and shared a bit of her food and water. “How long have you been there Angelica? You must be starving...” And so, for the next months to come they were traveling together.

Jumping forward in time again:

“Wake up!” Angelica giggled as she hugged Elsa. They have been traveling for so long now, they found a sign that lead them to Forgotten Hollow. “I am awake!” Elsa laughed as she slowly sat up. Soft grumbling could be heard from the bushes which quickly made Elsa stand up and pick up Angelica. “Shhh stay quiet now, we have to go ok?” She said as she started to walk.

After walking all day, having a small break here and there trying to find some food and water, they finally reached the sign “Welcome to Forgotten Hollow”. Elsa sighed with relief and put Angelica down for a bit to regain her breath. She opened her backpack and gave some food to Angelica and also ate something herself “We’re finally here, maybe we can find someone here”.

When their break was over Elsa picked Angelica up once again and walked into town. Most houses are boarded up and no lights were on, until she saw the pump station “Look Angie, there’s lights, maybe there’s someone there”. and so they headed towards the pump station.

Scar walked outside, hearing knocks on his gate and what sounded like a little girl screaming for help. “Keep your voice down! I’m on my way!” Scar said, loud enough for them to hear. As he opened the gate a little girl with a toddler on her arm scoots inside and he quickly closes the gate again, looking at them surprised. “Are you all alone?” he asked to which Elsa gave him a shy nod.

Scar walked over to them “Here, let me hold her, you must be tired.” He took Angelica from Elsa her arms and took her hand “Where are your parents? Are you siblings?” He asked her. Elsa softly shook her head “We’re not siblings, but our parents are in a better place now”. She sadly said.

Scar frowned and took them inside “I’ll make sure nothing will happen to you two ok? You’re save here.” He put Angelica down in a chair who had fallen asleep in his arms. And from here on out Scar had two kids to take care off, his first mission? Finding a store that would have a potty and toys.

Sulani Rags to Riches Challenge

Hey all! This is my first challenge that I’m trying to make. The goal here is to simple. Get the Sim from having almost nothing to a $150,000 house + greenhouse and $100,000 in reserve. You must also have two or more children.

Outdoor Retreat and Get Together are very helpful but NOT required for this challenge. First, to set up your Sim:

You must start the Sim via Story mode. You may skip questions. Your outcome MUST be a Sim that has a Normal lifespan- Aging must be ON- so no Vampires for this challenge! You must also play your Sim in the career that Story Mode selects, even if the aspiration is completely different. You may only change your aspiration OR career (pick one) once your Sim gets married. You may change your Sim’s appearance and use CC for your Sim ONLY.

You are to place your Sim in the Key Point lot in Sulani. You may remove the “Off the Grid” trait and replace it with ONE skill based trait of your choosing.

NO CC that is not for CAS may be used.

The CHEAPEST item of each category that is not CC that you own should be used for initial setup. For instance if you have Jungle Adventure you must purchase that bush for your potty needs rather than the one from Get Together.

Your lifespan is Normal- you don’t have time for University. Therefore you are not to use University for this challenge.

To set up your lot:

You will need a place to potty. Purchase a bush or if you have none available you may enter the buydebug command and place a basic public bathroom on your lot. You may not place any public bathrooms that also have showers.

For sleeping: If you have Outdoor Retreat you may purchase the Easy Camper Tent. If not, make a 4x3 room, place columns and a roof. Delete the walls and floor. Purchase the Mod Pod sleeper and place it in the center of the room. If you do not have Seasons you may only place the bed.

You may place 4 planter boxes and buy ONE seed pack each of Starter Flowers, Fruit, Vegetables, and Herbs as well as Garlic if you have the Vampires pack. You may also only plant one of each plant. You may plant whatever you want later after you build your greenhouse as long as it is only one of each plant, this is just to get started.

Your Sim needs something to do other than just work or fish. You may purchase ONE of the following- Easel, Guitar, or Violin.

You will need a means of cooking. Purchase your cheapest non-CC grill, your cheapest end table, and your cheapest chair. Also place the cheapest outdoor trash can.

Once you are done placing your basic survival needs, cheat your money to $25.

For Showering: You must either leave your lot and go to the gym, or if you look around the world hard enough you may just find somewhere where you can take care of that need.

Additional Rules:

1. A Greenhouse is REQUIRED for this challenge, however you may not build it until your Sim has their own house with:

Private bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower surrounded by walls

House must have windows, siding, flooring and paint/wallpaper

Space for a double bed that is not up against the wall

Desk and a chair

Refrigerator, stove, smoke detector, and one counter.

2. You may not move in any partners until your house meets these requirements:

All of the above for your house, plus two additional counters,

Private bedroom at least 4x5 with double bed, dresser and a mirror

A computer or TV

You may wait to build your greenhouse until after your partner moves in.

3. Your partner cannot bring in much money to the challenge other than earnings from skills or career. If they are the last Sim in their previous house and bring money into the house you must cheat all but $1,000 of that money out of your household funds.

4. You may not have a child until your house meets all above requirements. Before you have a child you must also have:

One additional room that is at least 4x5

Toddler essentials: bed, high chair, bookcase, blocks, toy box, potty chair.

5. You may not have another child until your house has:

Another room for your child (assuming your Toddler is now a child.)

Single size bed.

At least one child skill activity in both Creative and Mental skills

If you had twins or triplets the first time you had a child, you must build this new room before buying anything else for your house.

6. You may add your last house trait only after your house is worth $50,000, you have a partner, and one child.

7. You may NOT purchase the Money Tree reward until after you have passed the challenge, or enter the Lottery. Good luck and HAPPY SIMMING!
