hi! I'm coming with an idea for a josh futturman x reader smut fic, so... I was thinking of a scenario where the reader is Josh's friend, and one day, they come to his house to give back a game they borrowed from him. without hesitation and knocking, they enter his room, but... he's pleasing himself. It's a bit awkward, but eventually, the reader asks if he can help him with it and then gives him blowjob or smth 🫢 I'd love to see this in a fic!
RHIS ID SO REAL ANON I LOVE THE WAY U THINK!!!!!!! hes in my head all day might as well givd him some🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
WARNINGS: gn!reader, blowjob, cumming in mouth
- - - - - - -
it was a nice day out, you walking over to your friend josh’s house. you had borrowed a video game from him awhile back that he recommended you play. finally, after a few weeks, you beat the entire thing. god, you were such a loser.
you let yourself in to his house with a key you had. you both had keys to each other’s houses. you both had been best friends for so long, it became normal to waltz in to the others house to get stuff, pick up packages, or just a place to crash for a little while.
you didn’t see his parents home, or him, for that matter. you closed the door behind you, shoving your keys in your picket. you walked to the kitchen to grab yourself a glass of water. you shouldn’t have walked over while it was so hot out.
while you got yourself a bit of water, you started to think about josh. your mind would wander every now and then about him. so what if he was a loser boy who gamed for a living? he was funny, shy, and cute. what’s not to like?
for starters, he had a pretty jawline. it was very sharp. you also loved his hair. his hair was one of your favorite things about him. whenever the both of you were together, you’d find yourself playing with his hair every now and then.
oh, how you wished you could pull on his hair as he sucked on your-
you shook your head, trying to swipe the thought away. you couldn’t think about your best friend like that. you weren’t even here for that! you just had to return the video game.
you walked up to his room, video game in hand, ready to call or tell him about it and how much fun it was. you didn’t think he was home, as the house was practically dead silent. you’d just leave the game on his desk and leave. simple as that.
you opened his door and it wasn’t that simple at all.
staring back at you was josh, panting on his bed with his hard erection in his hand. the video game slipped out of your grasp, falling onto the floor.
after a few seconds of the most awkward silence you had ever had to sit through, you opened your mouth. “what the fuck, josh.”
“what do you mean what the fuck??? this is my house!!” he panicked, pulling his boxers up to conceal his throbbing cock. “what the fuck are you doing here?”
“i’m returning the fucking game you let me borrow! that’s all! i didn’t know anyone was home!” you yelled back.
“shit, um..i’m sorry you…uh..if you saw…uh..yeah…” his words started to turn into mutters.
“dude, it’s fine. it’s normal. i’m not grossed out. promise. we all do it from time to time.” you started to slowly walk into his room, hoping he would calm down.
“i look like a fucking weirdo. i promise i’m not.” he held his head in his hands. this was the most embarrassing moment of his entire life.
“josh. really, don’t sweat it. we all masturbate. i shouldn’t have walked in like that. it’s my fault, if anything.” you wanted to hug him. he was typically the insecure type, and this wasn’t helping. at all.
an idea popped into your head. an awful, genius idea. an idea that would maybe calm his nerves. everything was on the table now. you couldn’t make things worse.
“i could…i could help you with that. if you want.” you said barely loud enough so he could hear.
he perked up, looking at you. had he heard you correctly? there’s no way…
“what?” he asked, voice wavering.
you looked down to his concealed erection. “i could help you with it, if you’d like. i don’t want you to feel like this is something you should be embarrassed about.” you sat on the bed next to him.
“are…are you sure?” he asked. he almost pinched himself, not believing this was real.
“yes’ i’m sure, josh.” you tried to play it cool, like your heart wasn’t pounding out of your chest. were you being too bold?
“o-only if you want to, of course! sorry, i didn’t mean to make you feel forced or anything. just ignore what i said. i..i was just kidding! the last thing i wanna do is make you even more uncomfortable-” you were rambling at this point.
josh stopped you. “no, please. i want you to do this so bad.” his eyes looked down at his cock, throbbing through his boxers, pleading for a release. your eyes also looked down, then met his.
you got up and wedged yourself in between his thighs, getting close up to his tent in his boxers. you traced the outline of it with your finger, making him jolt with pleasure.
“gonna have to take these off for me, josh, okay?” you asked, tenderness in your voice. you knew how careful you had to be around intimacy.
he nodded his head, spurting okays and tugging his boxers off. only then did you really get a good look at his hardened cock. you saw every detail of it: the pink tip, the way it curved, its length.
“d-don’t stare, ‘s weird.” he tried to avert your eyes to anything else, starting to get a bit nervous.
“alright, i won’t stare. i’ll get to it.” you said, testing the waters as you kissed the tip. he jolted, you knew that felt really good.
“shit…” he breathed heavily. he couldn’t believe what he was seeing: his best friend, on their knees, kissing and looking at his cock. it felt unreal, like he was gonna wake up any second.
he was reminded that this was real, however, when you swirled your tongue around his tip. his head fell back with a groan. you hadn’t even put it in your mouth but it already felt so fucking good.
he started to get restless, wanting more yet being so overstimulated at the same time, pulling at your hair lightly. “please, more.” he pleaded, not caring how desperate he seemed to be.
you obliged as your mouth sunk down on him, taking the tip and a bit of his length, attempting to run your tongue all over it. he tugged at your hair even more, feeling so good. he didn’t want this to ever end.
your head bobbed down even more, until finally taking all his length, mouth connecting with the base. he let out a loud moan.
“please. move. fuck, feels too damn good.” he was begging at this point, and who were you to deny a man his wishes?
your head moved up and down in tiny thrusts, testing the waters of how much you could take without having breathing issues. it was all worth it to bring your eyes up to him, seeing his scrunched up eyes, mouth open, moaning and whimpering, and head thrown back. it was mesmerizing.
you started to bob your head up and down on him faster, tongue running down his cock with every move. every second of movement brought him closer and closer to his release. one of your hands ran circles around his thigh, partially holding him steady.
“shit, shit, starting t’ get close. fuck.” his hips threatening to jolt up into your mouth. he knew he wouldn’t last long, him already being hard, but with him in your mouth, watching his best friend’s head bob up and down on his length? he’d be done in seconds.
your tongue swirled around the tip, giving yourself a second to breathe. “please, josh, cum in my mouth. know you can do it, give it to me.” you got back to work, head moving furiously on his cock, trying to bring him to his sweet release he had been trying to chase by himself earlier.
“gonna come, fuck, feels so good, please, please…” he started to whimper incoherent babbles as you ran your tongue sloppily up and down his pretty cock.
after one last bob of your head, his hips started jolting, and you started to feel spurts of cum shooting into the back of your throat in ropes. you kept moving, trying to help him ride through his orgasm as he kept moaning and rambling as he came.
once he stopped moaning so hard and regulated his breath, you slowly took him out of your mouth, disconnecting with his tip with a pop. you took a gulp, swallowing all his seed. he would hate to admit how hot he thought that was.
“do you feel better now?” you asked getting up and sitting beside him as he lay down on his bed.
“that…holy shit that was fantastic.” he breathed, chest heaving. “you have the mouth of a fucking god. thank you so much.”
“hey, ‘s just helping a friend out, right?” you replied, rubbing one of his arms. “hope that did help.”
“yeah, that was so great. holy shit.” he sat up, thinking.
‘helping a friend out.’ he thought to himself. next time, he was gonna help you out, and make sure you guys weren’t just friends anymore. what you just did was one of the best things he ever experienced, and he wanted to make sure you’d know that and get repayment someday.
that could wait, though. he had to take it slow.
“so, which game did you wanna bring back to me that started all this?”

⇢ ˗ˏˋ Hannah bahng x fem reader
Cw- angst if you squint, kissing (nothing suggestive), reader and hannah say 'ily', reader calls hannah 'love' and 'baby' once. Not rly much at all tbh, just fluff <3.
Summary- hannah doesn't want anyone to hear her song until it's out, including you, and you just can't leave hannah alone about it when you're supposed to be sleeping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n- someone please send rhis to her on twt or something 💀. I wrote this the day hannah announced her song but I just haven't posted it until now. Idk why 😭 also some of this was written on a phone and some was written on a computer so sorry if it looks weird.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God do you love Hannah. You love everything about her. Literally. Especially the small things. Details, stuff that any other person wouldn't notice about her.
Physical things, mental things, emotional things.
You obviously love the things about her that the average person crossing her on the street would notice about her too,, But there's just something about being so close to her, knowing things about her that no one else does. Being able to notice things about her that no one else does. Being able to notice things about her, without her even telling you things. You love knowing that you will always know her more than anyone, no matter what.
She's so cute. the way her eyes and cheeks puff slightly when she laughs or smiles real hard, the way she side eyes you when she sees you hanging out with Chan or berry over her, the sarcasm that you guys share, even if over the smallest of things. and while she claims to be the mean sibling, she swears she's the nicest girlfriend. You could confirm both of those. However, it then makes you sound like you're a mean girlfriend. It's not that you're mean per say, you just aren't good with your feelings and Hannah's always been better at expressing them to you then you are to her, or anyone, for that matter. If anything, Hannah's the easiest person for you to express your feelings to.
You're also insanely proud of her. Proud of her for everything. She dyes her hair? "oh my god, it looks so good baby!! Good job." she makes food? "oh my god, this is so good. Good job, for real"
You were especially proud of her music skills.
Shes pretty humble about it, which is cool, but sometimes you just want everyone to know how actually talented your girlfriend really is. Scream it. Scream it together.
However, you haven't heard her official, original, one and only, debut song yet.
Of course you've heard her sing other songs and play the guitar, piano, and what not. between her YouTube covers and what she does for you, you'd argue that you hear her music abilities more than anyone.
But you haven't heard this one.
None of it. Not the lyrics, not the instrumentals, nothing.
At first you were kinda upset that she won't let you hear it, but you respect her boundaries. Plus, knowing that Chan hasn't even heard it yet either made you feel better.
She's told you that it's nothing personal, especially with you. she just doesn't want anyone to hear it until it's put out. And anyone just so happened to include you and her brother. Plus, she valued yours and chans opinion greatly. She figured that if either you or Chan didn't like her song somehow or something, that she wouldn't go through with releasing it. Which she really didn't want to do, considering how long she's spent on making just this one song.
Once she knew when it was going to be released, she told you when right away. You and Chan were the first to know that, along with her parents. Or maybe she would make you wait, let you see the timer she posted on her Instagram story, and watch you go insane. Until then though, you would be the most impatient little fucker ever.
It's was now around the time you and Hannah usually end up falling asleep during a move or something, but tonight you just would not leave Hannah alone.
"I'm actually so exited. I'm not even trying to be funny, but I don't think I can wait like a month." you said, laying next to Hannah on her bed.
She was laying on her side, facing away from you, and you were laying next to her on your back. The two of you originally started out with spooning, but you soon got relentless and started moving, which ended up changing your original position.
"well your gonna have to." Hannah sighed.
You sat up so you were now leaning back on the headboard and looked over Hannah's shoulder. You can see a slight smirk on her face, but you can also tell she was slightly annoyed.
"yeah but like what if I CAN'T."
"you will. You'll be with me for the whole time, and we're going to a concert soon. Time will go by fast." she tries to convince you.
You bring your finger up motioning as you speak. "yeah, OK, but you see-you say that, but really-"
"oh my god" Hannah groans, knowing that you would just keeps going on and on in continuous circles. you frown and her words and tone of voice, upset at yourself for making her annoyed, especially when she's trying to sleep, and you feel bad for your obnoxious behavior.
she turns her body around so she’s facing you and leans up so she can kiss your lips. “Shut up” another kiss. “and go to sleep” another kiss.
Your mood quickly goes up again just from feeling the touch of her soft lips against yours, and the fact that her voice has softened again. Her voice is teasing and you can tell she's slightly annoyed still, but she's more in awe of you then annoyed.
Hannah scoots back down into the bed and clings onto your leg and your waist/hips.
Hannah looks up at you and says “Goodnight. I love you” with a smile on her face, teeth showing slightly and the underneath of her eyes get slightly puffy as she smiles at you. Because of you.
you look down to her and reciprocate her smile and words back to her. “Goodnight. I love you, and I’m beyond proud of you.”
Although it's dim in her bedroom, you can see from the slight light that Hannah blushes at your words. “I try my best to make you proud.”
“hannah, you don’t even have to try.” “I’m beyond proud to be able to call you mine too”
Hannah’s blush gets more intense in response to your statement. “Always love.”

I finally caught up to dndads after not having listened to it since June, so in order to not make a 1000 posts I will make one mega-post of all my reactions.
35 -> anthony made a reference to him being married b4, leading to me googling it, leading to me finding out there's a "at least im not anthony burch" 4chan meme
out of al the "new" epsidoes (for me) this one is still the funniest
FUCK, the goddamn convo between Normal and Hero you can't just do this to me. you can't just give me sibling dynamics and expect me to be normal about them.
36-> this ep was spoiled form me start to finish so no particular reactions but I will say Anthony is super clever for managing to spin that prophecy to come back around
37-> the contrast of the teens experiences this episode was astounding
Tumblr media
ONE PIECE MENTIONED! 👒🏴‍☠️
"you whirling dervish of homoeroticism and pizza" is SUCH a sentence.
38-> god this episode did so much for Scary I fucking love her. "she is holds so much anger but is one of the most loving people" what if my heart bursts from the weight of it all
39 -> in my notes I just have "RONNNNNN RONNN UR IN HEAVEN BABGGIRLLLL I LOVE YOHJHUU."
40-> Freddy's bully character. Will and Freddy's syncing on that joke and screaming about it. Will going "I'm a little turned on rn I'm not gonna lie." Anthony going "Roll for Kinsley scale." all of that almost put me in an early grave.
41-> Freddy making up dumbass plans and the getting way too excited trying to explain them leading to him being out of breath and yelling and making very little sense while everyone else is trying to cut in to tell him how dumb his plan is only for him to roll ridiculously high makes up 90% of this podcast nd I will never get tired of it. also this episode solidified that Taylor is the best character to me.
42-> I hate this.
43-> Marco is way too fucking chill beung on the Titanic I'm gonna need a bit more shock and confusion from this man. like this jist makes me think he like KNOWS everything already.
44-> the next two were my favorite episodes out of the bunch and I have a like lahes worht of notes on them and I couldn't pick my favorites so I'm gonna make seperate posts for the two of those. but in the meantime:
does the ambulance driver's accent count as slavic? cause if so first slavic dndads character lmfaoo
I feel so sad for Normal because we saw thus arc coming from a mile away. I remember listening to episodes and bejng fristrated with how other characters were responding to Normal cause I KNEW it was making this worse in his mind. and like I get them too they're all going trough heinous shit but like...fucking ouch man this was so preventable
45-> Terry Jr and Glenn competing for the title of "most polite swordfight singe Ingio and Westley in the Princess Bride"
I had seperate notes for how much I loved the charactarisation for Terry Jr, Nick, Taylor and Normal so to sum it up the cast brought their A-game I was so fucking delighted.
Freddy's habit of tling over NPC's is so fucking funny. COMPLETELY disregarding the DM is hilarious when it's not happening to me.
46-> good to see Mat being a menece for once.
somebody PLEASE fucking tell me there is fanart for Abe Lincoln from this episode PLEASE.
I know I'm a tween bow at heart because Lincoln being cool again made me so fucking hyped even though that's not the point of his charactarisation 😭 agent Schmegan just brings out the cool dude in him
Hermie's death was way less dramatic than I expected it to be but rhis is only because the amazing artists in this fandom shot my expectations through the roof with the stuff they drew
BONUS: WHODADIT -> Beth is fucking SHINING in this god every joke landed.
Anthony quickly going: "nochinamenmayfeatureinthestory" everyone else going "WOAH" and Mat going fucking "FREDDY?" as is Freddy needs to explain himself???? 😭😭 please

Legend of a Mortal Love
┊ ➶ rhys x oc
┊ ➶ part five
part four
‧͙⁺˚*・༓☾
Velaris was like nothing she had ever seen in her life. Not that she had seen much, tho. But still.
Ariadne spent hours a day walking through the city, accompanying Rhiannon and Mor going shopping for the incoming Winter Solstice. And they had even asked her her opinion sometimes.
“What do you think about this?” Rhiannon asked, taking a mug that read ‘as hot as my ass’.
She tried hard to keep a straight face, and even tho the mug seemed to be the most ridiculous gift ever, Ariadne nodded anyway.
“It looks like something that…uhm, it’s ok, it’s funny,” she managed to stop herself before she got to say what was truly on her mind, but Rhiannon noticed it immediately, since she did that almost all the time.
“Something like what?” The female raised a dark eyebrow, and Ariadne knew there was no escaping that look.
“Like something…I don’t know, I may be wrong,” Ariadne brushed the subject off, but Rhiannon did not.
“Ariadne, you can tell me anything, you know? We’re far from court now,” Rhiannon told her that at least twice a day.
But still, she was a court princess, and Ariadne was…
She let out a sigh and looked into the beautiful violet eyes. Rhiannon always encouraged her to speak her mind, to say whatever she wanted to say, like also Morrigan had been doing since they got to Velaris. It was still hard for her, to “speak her mind”, every time she had tried to in the past, it had ended up in beatings and nasty bruises, and everyone she had ever witnessed speaking too much their mind, always ended up dead.
“I think…it might be something Cassian would like,” she finally said it, realizing how stupid it had been to keep it quiet.
Rhiannon smiled, like she too had been thinking the same thing.
“You’ve been paying attention, huh?”
Ariadne’s cheeks caught a little bit of color, but she nodded anyway. “I like to observe, it’s everything you can do while working in court. No speaking, no distractions, just work. Silence does have its advantages, tho, one learns to listen, to keep quiet and observe.”
And quiet was exactly how Rhiannon had fell when Ariadne spoke. She recognized that expression in the female’s face, Rhiannon tended to make it every time something about Ariadne’s…life situation, got mention, and it made her feel bad that she had been the one to brought the subject up.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you.”
“No! No, you don’t have to apologize for anything, Ariadne, I should be the one apologizing,” the female left the mug on the counter and sighed, grabbing Ariadne’s hands.
Mor had somehow managed to get rid of the chains. Both on her wrists and on her ankles, and every step she gave, every movement she made, felt weird, but somehow…good.
Ariadne had never been without her chains, not even as a child, only for the moment she went to bed an even then, there were chains in her ankles. Not having them on her felt as if not having a part of her, as weird as it sounded, but she was getting used to the feeling of her skin being free of the metal. Skin that was, for the first time in her entire life, healing.
She was getting dangerously used to not having them, that was.
“And why would you do that?”
“Because…you know,” for the first time since they had met, Rhiannon seemed to not be able to meet her stare. “This,” she rubbed a delicate, manicured hand over the bruises and scarred skin of her wrists, then finally looked up into her eyes with heaviness in her own. “And everything else.”
“Rhiannon…”
“Rhi, please call me Rhi,” the request sounded like a plea, and Ariadne’s throat bobbed trying hard not to let the knot in it win.
“Rhi…” the nickname felt too personal rolling off her tongue, too intimate, like they were…friends. “This isn’t your fault, you don’t make the rules.”
“I know, but-”
“Let’s go look for Morrigan, shall we?” Ariadne quickly shut the female’s sad intrusive thoughts down, and instead gave her a small, but sincere, smile.
“Oh, so she gets to be called Rhi, but I get called ‘Morrigan’?” Rhiannon’s cousin was at the back of the very female, lifting an indignant eyebrow while holding something on her crossed arms that had a blinding, too sparkly color.
“Sorry…Mor,” the blonde’s face lighten up, and she gave Ariadne a big smile before walking up to them.
“Much better. Now, what do you think of this?”
Lifting up the blinding, too sparkly thing she was holding, both Ariadne and Rhiannon contained their horrified faces at the pair of neon blue sparkly socks.
“And those are for…” Rhiannon asked.
“For Azriel, obviously, since the only color he seems to at least like is blue, and he needs a bit more color in his closet than black.”
“Honey, while I agree with you that Azriel does need more color in his closet…that, that would give him a stroke if he ever saw them,” the violet eyed female couldn’t contain her laughter anymore, and Ariadne allowed herself to smile a bit.
“Come on! They…” Mor eyed the socks, then sighed and her shoulders sank in defeat. “They do suck, don’t they?” Rhiannon bursted out a laugh, while Ariadne couldn’t help the little smile at her lips also.
She wasn’t gonna lie, she liked the females, and she had seen why Rhiannon was so fond of Cassian and Azriel, too. But, a part of her, was extremely confused. For one side, she wanted to convince herself she didn’t belong there —maybe because she so obviously didn’t—, yet another part of her really, really wanted to. She wanted to sing as freely as she had been wishing to since the first day Rhiannon took her to the Rainbow and she saw the performers on the streets, she wanted to laugh freely like Mor and Rhiannon did, she wanted to join Cassian’s conversation when he so evidently was trying to include her, but she also felt like, somehow, being here, but mostly enjoying being here —because she was, she really was starting to enjoy life for the first time—, was treason to her people.
It sounded ridiculous, yet…she couldn’t help but feel that way. Fae were monsters, the ones that had enslaved her people for centuries now, she owed all her tragedies to them, yet…here, in Velaris, everything was so peaceful, so…out of her reality, people didn’t look down at her when she was walking on the street, and Rhiannon and her family had never treated her like a slave. The opposite, really, they had tried to convince she didn’t had to be a slave here.
Ariadne’s heart was truly at conflict right now, but that had turned to some sort of inspiration for her in the long run.
One day, she started humming a melody, a random one that came straight from her head, then she started putting words to that melody, random words, words that came from her heart, from all the conflicts in her mind, and, progressively, whenever she was completely alone, she would start mixing those melodie’s and words into songs she would sing for herself.
She hadn’t done that in years. Since her father’s last breath on earth.
They used to do it together; whenever she was afraid, her father would tell her to create a song, to mix random words together, and then he would put a melody to them. The songs would go from how dirty the floor was, to how much her chains hurt, to how bright the stars were.
Years later, she realized her father had done all that in attempts to detach her from their awful reality. It hadn’t worked so well after she grew up and could no longer ignore and detach herself from the cruelness of being born a human.
Yet it had happened again some days ago, when she again visited the Rainbow with Mor and Rhi, she felt it again, the need to put into words and melodies her feelings and thoughts.
It scared her, what that meant.
༺ ♡ ༻
The Winter Solstice was the reason why they had come to Velaris in the first place. The Night Court had a big celebration for this day in particular, since it was the longest night in the year.
Ariadne helped Mor and Rhi to pack their presents. Everyone would be leaving to have a quick dinner with the High Lord and the Lady of Night, then they would come back for the actual celebration between all of them.
They luckily didn’t take her with them, instead left Ariadne in the townhouse with a million protective guards on it. She thanked those hours alone, because she managed to get her hands on some paper and a quill and start writing some of the songs she had been having stuck on her head.
When she was a kid, her father taught her how to read and write, saying she would one day need it to contact her brother. Ariadne had never known how that would ever be possible at all.
Until his lath breath, her father had never stoped believing her brother was alive. They had been separated when the Fae came to capture her family, he had been sent somewhere else, and Ariadne couldn’t even remember his face by now, the last time she had ever seen him was when she had been around 5 years old.
If he was still alive, she would never be able to find him, or him to find her. Not in the world they were living in, as the people the were forced to live like.
She wrote about him in her songs, too. If only because ‘the lost star’ sounded good in a song.
She wrote about the Rainbow, about Velaris, about winged males and females, about blonde beauties and star-filled eyes, and families that felt like a taste of wind for a person that had only ever tasted dirt. All until she heard the door of the house open, and was taken away from her deep concentration.
Ariadne felt a tug of panic for a second, and quickly hid the sheets of paper in the box she had been hiding the rest. Then remembered she wasn’t doing anything bad, and the people that had arrived weren’t guards, only Rhiannon and the others.
She mastered some composure before going downstairs to see the young Fae entering the house.
“How was dinner?” She asked Rhiannon, who rolled her eyes and scoffed slightly.
“Boring, but that is the normal effect my father has on every fun affair, so it could be said that it went just as it was expected. Have you eaten anything?” Ariadne shook her head, she had forgotten about food while being so immerse in her writing.
Rhiannon didn’t give her much time to protest before she was dragging her down to the kitchen, and while everyone else got ready to exchange presents, Rhiannon sat with her and made sure she ate, while complaining about the dinner and her father.
When Ariadne was over, she said she could go back to her room to leave them alone, but both Rhiannon and Morrigan had looked at her as if she had grown a second head and sat her down between them.
“It’s Winter Solstice, Ari, you’ve got to celebrate!” Rhiannon had encouraged, and Ariadne accepted the invitation.
She didn’t have anything to gift them, since she got no money whatsoever. So she couldn’t help but feel bad when Mor had pulled out a pair of ugly socks and given them to her.
“To keep you warm,” she had said, and Ariadne had almost cried.
She had never received a present before. And even tho the socks were terribly ugly, the thought had been beautiful.
“Bitch! I wanted to give her my present first,” Rhiannon said, scoffing at not being the first to give Ariadne a present.
Ariadne swallowed the gulp in her throat while Rhiannon pulled out a little box and handed it to her.
When she opened it, Ariadne couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of the small black pearl necklace.
“This is…” She looked up at the female, her eyes inevitably holding some tears now.
“To honor the day we met,” Rhiannon said with a smile, taking the Night Pearl necklace and putting it on Ariadne.
She had only been given two gifts, but those gifts were more than she had ever possessed in her life.
“Thank…” her voice broke, and she swallowed hard to avoid the tremble in her next words. “Thank you, I’m sorry I-”
“Don’t even apologize for that, Ariadne,” Rhiannon stoped her before she could apologize for not getting her and Mor something, and the blonde female only hugged her tightly and told her in a whisper that she could consider her gift as a thank you for helping her with the other gifts, since for the first time ever, nobody had nothing bad to say about her presents.
“I…got something for you, too,” the shock she had been was interrupted by Azriel’s voice.
When Ariadne raised her head, she saw he was talking to her. She couldn’t help but to open her eyes and mouth in shock.
“For- for me?” They hadn’t talked much since they met, Ariadne was shy, and he was not a male of small chatter, either, but they had both shared something; little acknowledging, understanding looks when they saw each other’s scars.
Two days ago, Azriel had found her scratching intensely her wrists, since it was the first timeher skin ever got a chance to heal at all from the chain’s damage. He had helped her, prepared some hot water for her to relax the itching, then showed her his hands, and briefly told her the story of the scars in them.
She had then understood why Rhiannon had fallen for him. They were a perfect match, and he was a companionate male, she hadn’t helped but feel happy Rhiannon had someone like him by her side —even if they weren’t official, everyone else around them knew they would be.
“What is it?” She asked with her mouth dry in astonishment when the male nodded slightly.
“It’s a tonic for your…” Azriel pulled a little bottle out of his leathers, and looked down and her wrists and ankles.
At her scars.
“Oh,” now she was absolutely out of not only words, but breath as well.
“Rhys’ mom bought it for me a long time ago, and it really did helped me with…” he looked down at his own scars. “It won’t heal the scars, but it will make them less painful and scratchy, I promise.”
Now the tears in her eyes were almost imposible to hold. She murmured a shaky thank you, and took Azriel’s hand so he could feel the shaking in hers and understand just how thankful she really was. The male smiled slightly at her, and put a hand on her shoulder, squeezing slightly.
“Ok ok, my turn!” Cassian pushed Azriel aside to hand Ariadne his gift.
He handed her a leather notebook, wrapped perfectly with a purple ribbon.
When Ariadne looked at him a little confused, he smiled proudly and got way too close to her, almost making her back away for the surprise, and leaning in her ear.
“So you can write all those songs I’ve been hearing you sing.”
When he backed away, his smile was compassionate and light.
“I didn’t…I couldn’t get you anything, I’m sorry,” her voice shook, as much as she tried to avoid it, and she felt the first tear rolling down her cheek before she could stop it.
This people…they had known her for so little, specially Azriel and Cassian, and yet…
“Come on, a hug will suffice!” Before she could move or say anything, Cassian wrapped her in his arms and lifted her up slightly.
She had never received such a warm hug. Not since her mother died, at least. And it was in that moment that Ariadne couldn’t help but silently cry while she allowed Cassian to hug her, and she herself wrapped her arms around the big male.
“Happy Solstice, Ariadne,” both him and Azriel said when Cassian put her back down.
She was out of breath, out of words. She kept her head down so they wouldn’t see the tears streaming down het face.
“I’m sorry, can you…can you give me a moment? May I…” She made the best attempt to wipe away her tears and looked back at Rhiannon, wanting to ask for permission.
The female obviously noticed her red, crystallized eyes, and immediately stood up to take the potion and the notebook from her hands.
“Of course you can, you don’t have to ask, Ari, go,” the violet eyed female smiled understandingly, and nodded towards the exit of the common room.
Ariadne thanked everyone in a low voice, then hurried out before she could keep making a fool of herself with the tears that did not wait to keep appearing.
༺ ♡ ༻
The balcony was the only place she finally found a bit of calm in. She could still hear the laughter coming from inside the house, but she tried to focus on the stars on top of her head than in the pounding of her heart.
It was surreal, all of this. The people inside, the gifts they had gotten her…everything felt like a story of her own songs, and not her reality.
She wasn’t mad about it, not even sad. She discovered that while she stared at the sky and silently talked to the stars. That’s what scared her the most. That she wasn’t really against this whole thing, that she was actually, for the first time in her life, not feeling fear, not feeling dread, not feeling anger. For the first time in her life, there were tiny moments during the day she forgot to feel all those things.
Ariadne took a deep breath, trying to absorb the star’s serene energy, to take in the happiness and peace in the air and keep it in her heart for as long as she could.
Then the window to the balcony opened, and the strangest feeling rose in her neck at the presence that came in.
She didn’t had to turn around, by the way the hairs in her neck stood on end, she already knew who was standing behind her even before he spoke.
“I got you a present, too, but I didn’t got to give it to you before you left,” Rhysand said, the window to the inside of the house closing behind him.
When Ariadne turned around, she had the chance to take him in, truly take him in. His wings were out, relaxed, just as his shoulders were as well. His eyes had a unique light Ariadne had only seen shining in the stars, and his face was much more handsome in the moonlight, as if the night literally suited him to perfection.
Here, in Velaris, it seemed as if Rhysand relaxed into a new person completely, gone were the scowls she had so often seen him make, the furrowed brows and the sharp edges of his face. It was as if the city soften him, or maybe it was the people inside the house, or both, she would dare say.
“I’m sorry, I-”
“No need to apologize, or to explain yourself. You’re not at court, Ariadne,” he rushed to cut her words off, a small, relaxed smile on his beautifully thin lips.
“Rhiannon tells me that all the time,” she sighed, leaning in the railing of the balcony.
“Because it’s the truth,” Rhysand approached her side, taking the same position she was, leaning in by her left.
“But for how long? Rhysand? A couple days more?” She looked at him, both harshness and tiredness dripping off her tone.
She had noticed that, only with Rhysand, she found herself being insolent, a little too much herself, some times. Maybe it was the way he purposely drove her to act like that, or something else entirely she hadn’t stop to think about.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound so harsh,” she adverted her eyes from his violet ones.
“Yes, yes you did,” her head snapped back at him, just in time to see the tiniest smile in his lips before he quickly took it back and pulled out something from a pocket of his black pants. “Here,” it was a thin, simple envelope, with only her name written in front of it.
“What is it?” She took it in her hands, and stared at him with a confused frown.
“Your Solstice present,” he answered with a tone of obviousness that made her want to roll her eyes, but she abstained from as she carefully opened the envelope.
Ariadne pulled out two papers from it, and stared at them in utter confusion.
“I’m sorry, I have no Idea what this is,” she admitted to Rhysand, and the male cocked his head to one side with a grin.
“They’re theater tickets, for tomorrow night.”
“Theatre?” Ariadne opened her eyes, this time in surprise, while Rhysand only raised a nonchalant shoulder, putting his hands in his pockets.
“I’ve noticed you like to hum to yourself when you think no one’s hearing. And Rhiannon mentioned how your eyes practically lit up when you saw the performers at the Rainbow. So I thought you might enjoy a function.”
Something in her chest tighten at the thought Rhysand being this attentive towards her. But it still didn’t surprise her that much, he always seemed to know how to read her before she learned how to read him.
“That’s…really thoughtful, thank you,” she smiled, genuinely smiled at him for the first time since they had met.
“But…” Ariadne raised her eyes from the tickets in her hands to look at him, one eyebrow higher than the other.
“But?”
“There’s a but,” it wasn’t exactly a question.
“There’s no…” Now it was his turn to raise an eyebrow, and when Ariadne saw the amusement in his violet eyes, she sighed and lowered her head again. “Okay fine, there is a but,” she swallowed hard, not being able to gather the courage to look up as she talked. “I don’t…know what a theatre is,” she felt stupid, as if it was something she should know by logic, but Rhysand didn’t mock her or made fun of her in any way, but instead seemed to be unaware of the little smirk that slipped on him.
“You will, tomorrow night.”
Ariadne simply nodded, and sighed when silence settled over them. Something in her heart was threatening to pound so hard she knew he would hear her if he concentrated, so she quickly opened her mouth to avoid that happening, if it hadn’t already did.
“There’s two,” she held out the two pieces of paper, and Rhysand nodded.
“Great observation.”
“There’s two because…” Ariadne raised one of her eyebrows, and he gave an only step closer.
“Because I will go with you.”
At his words, she tried harder to lower the overwhelming beats of her heart, knowing for a fact Rhysand had already had to hear it. Ariadne swallowed discreetly, and raised a questioning eyebrow.
“You will?”
“Yes,” he answered with no hesitation, making her look up at him.
There was only pure, total seriousness in his violet gaze, making Ariadne all the more confused.
“Why?” She couldn’t help the tone of her question, and quickly bit her words down at how harsh it had sounded.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Ariadne, I bought two because I love the theatre,” he shifted his weight on his feet as if uncomfortable, putting his hands in his pockets and adverting his eyes from hers.
Ariadne cursed herself internally for not figuring that out earlier. And felt embarrassed as she look down to the two theatre tickets.
“Yeah, right. Im sorry.”
Silence settled for a long while, Ariadne waited eagerly for him to walk away and stop making her feel the hot shame on her cheeks, yet that did not happen, as Rhysand never seemed to get the hint of her heartbeats sounding like hammers against her chest.
“So…are you coming with me, Ariadne?” Her name rolled off his tongue like sweet honey, coating each syllable with slow precision.
Ariadne raised her head towards him again, analyzing the harshness and softness of his stare, the angles of his face that hinted something else hidden in those sharp lines.
Today had been an unbelievable day, one full of feelings she had never thought she could feel again, and so it may have been those mixed feelings that made her heart flutter with the tiniest bit of excitement, and smile at the male staring at her with galaxies in his eyes to mutter words she probably will regret later.
“I would love to.”

UGH HAD THOUGHT ABOUT HEAVY AND THE SOUTHERN READER
heavy definitely has a harder time w accents than the other non native english speakers on the team and tbh maybe he even thought the texas, oklahoma, louisiana area was a different country it basically is anyways but heavy is like amazed at the differences in culture just from a different area of the US and then he wants to learn about different people and begins w southern reader and is like flabbergasted at the history of the south bc god i’m just saying texas history class was terrible and maybe reader is like hmm history class isn’t working v good time for hands on learning and takes heavy to a rodeo idk if y’all have those in whatever southern part y’all r from but its a giant carnival that lasts a whole month w livestock shows, livestock shows where the kids basically fight to the death and for their lives, local shops, and food competitions and all that stuff the whole time reader takes him out there maybe even gets heavy a cowboy hat w a texas buckle on it and silly boots w spurs and texas anon has a stroke the end hhhhhhi foegort sorry
-texas is moldy sorry guys :(
RHIS IS SO CUTE RAAAA also please don’t die-
Heavy with a southern reader
98% of the time he does not understand a WORD that comes out of your mouth, yet he still looks like he’s intently listening to whatever you have to say.
He finds you funny- like all the other mercs, just silly little babies with silly little accents!
especially hearing how thick your accent gets when you’re angry, at that point he just scoops you up and carries you away from the problem to help you calm down.
He learns a lot from you, he’s always either amazed or slightly horrified at southern history (mostly horrified, to be fair).
But you show him all the cool, fun stuff like state fairs, different types of food, and last but not least- rodeos!
Never in his life did he anticipate loving rodeos as much as he does now, not only because it’s his favorite way to bond with you + seeing how your eyes light up just improves his whole YEAR.
He feels even more special when you buy him a cowboy hat, and he decides to surprise you by dressing up in an entire cowboy outfit! and by god, does he wear it well.
He of course got some assistance from dell when it came to the actual coordination of the outfit but he sure does look handsome!

Bolts out of bed.
Hi hello my glee fan friend mutual Memorie (if I remember correctly. if I did not please ignore this ask). I must ask what your opinion on the Rocky Horror Glee Show is
HEYYYY IVE ACTUALLY WATCHED RHIS EP (juno shows me her fav eps, and this is one of them!!!) i LOVED IT, and it’s made me want to watch the entire movie itself, since it’s such a great teaser. sure wish mr. shue wasn’t so fucking weird and didn’t insist on being the monster (only survived touch-a touch-a touch me because of brittana 💯‼️🫡 i do NOT need to see will shuester shirtless AGAIN.) their outfits were rlly cute,,,, i know why they couldn’t do a perfect one to one recreation of the outfits frm the movie, but i think mercedes should’ve worn frank-n-furter’s fishnets because she would’ve decimated. GOD, FINN’S OUTFIT AS BRAD IS ACTUALLY SUPER SUPER CUTE. i think sue’s encouragement for the show was so funny… she wants to get them in soooo much trouble & i support her (but also, it IS so weird that the reason shue put on the show was to FLIRT WITH A MARRIED WOMAN. he’s soooo messy and not in a fun way.) TBH, JOHN STAMOS DOES A GREAT FUCKING JOB SINGING. santana’s outfit is so fucking cute, ummmm. i mean, i think my thoughts would be more coherent once i watch the actual movie and have a better frame of reference, but i rlly like the glee covers of the songs i heard!!
i also asked juno’s opinion, since she’s super super into it as well!
Tumblr media
((when we were watching it, we kept on saying finn looked rlly cute, so ofc we had to both mention it. blue looked so good on corey!))

okay here we go. Episode 1. Pilot. Hehehe…
seagulls… foreshadowing?? also I’ve seen a lot of Scrooge and Stan comparisons so let’s see what occurs. wonder when his trauma will/when it happened….
DONALD DUCK!!! OH HE CARES ABOUT HIS NEPHEWS…. HE SOUNDS SO FUNNY AND CUTE… WHERES THE BLUE ONE? oh shit the blue one is fucking up the boat…. Oh he tried to escape…. damn. THEY LIVE ON A BOAT!!!!
oh these three are going to be so disappointed in this guy at the beginning… HUH.
DAVID TENNANT IS FUCKING SCROOGE MCDUCK!?!?!? I THOUGHT HE WAS A FUCKING. SIDE CHARACTER OR SOMETHING. YOU DIDNT TELL ME THAT EMBER. WDYM HE’S SCROOGE MCDUCK—I CANT—I CANTTTSYBSUSHSHSHWH UNCLE?!?!?!?!? HES THE FUCKING GREAT UNCLE?!?!?!? OH I LOVE THESE GUYS WDYM EISBSUBEUWBEWJSBEJEN
“I AM THE RICHEST DUCK IN THE WORLD!” “YOU’RE WELCOME!”
ah so he’s disillusioned from the riches of the world because he’s been in the nitty gritty shit. doesn’t see the joy anymore and the kids are gonna change that. calling it now….
he counted the marbles…………… and they were kidnapped…
oh nvm they’re fine. green hoodie foreshadowing… also where the FUCK are we webbY??? oh nvm explained. I gotta stop writing down every single thought man……also this guy DOES have trauma I fucking knew it…
oh he’s so fun. why. HE’S SO CUTE WTF. so weird to think that he was filming good omens and ducktales simultaneously. fuck
does webby not go to school.
oh so donald is a retired loser. hell yeah
so MUCH MAGIC SHIT
NO GET BACK YOU’RE OLD
OHHHHHHHHHFUCKKKKKKKKHES. OH. OH HES. FUCKING. THERES YOUR HEAD. WYDM. OH. OHHHHH SHITITJRBEUEBED DN HESSOOOOOOOOO??? SCROOGE PLEASE????
oof dragon.
it’ll take more than a bruised spine….!!!! NHYAUGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
love how the triplets aren’t the ones doing the stunts but thought of them and let the expiernced guy do the work. idk why but. it’s nice. ALSO THAT DUCK DID NOT LAND ON THAT MONEY SMOOTHLY. TF????
GOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD HE MISSED TROUBLE I FUCKING CANT. SONOF A BITCH. OH THEYRE GOING TO ATLANTISH FROM EARLIER. NO ONE TELL DONALD. FUCK. OH OKAY DOUBLE FUCK DONALD’S JOB IS A TIE IN—
okay that’s episode one holy shit. how did I fall in love with duck david tennant so quickly. damn. these guys?? oh I love these guys wtf. webby. I love webby. the green one is my favorite rn. Scrooge and Donald have history I just know it, as well as the old lady duck whom I have not gotten the name of nor what she actually does in mcduck manor. last one; I’m guessing that the season finale/later arc/maybe even next episode is going to have the new duck gang try and tell Donald that his employer is evil and only wants his help with Atlantis, and Donald is gonna HATE that because this job is finally what’s getting his family afloat after so long unemployed. (probably has something to do with Scrooge’s infinite wealth because it’s strange that they did shit together and Donald got nothing? (Also a pretty unique dynamic—uncle and nephew adventuring together…. there’s definitely something deep there) he’ll think that his nephews are just trying to get him to quite because either they miss him, are jealous, or want their old life back. I don’t know. Donald’s over caution is also definitely a result of treasure hunting. Maybe definitely. I don’t know
okay OKAY true last one; the tricks mention when Donald gave up the kids. no tricks no nothing. that’s important isn’t it…. hm. anyways BEST THING 10/10 YIIPIE!!!!
RHIS WAS WODNERFUL TO READ YESYEYS FBSKHDKSJDJD . I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT BITS TO RESPOND TO BUT EEEEEEE. ALSO YEAH IT ALSO SURREAL ON MY END TOO LIKE HI SCROOGE MCDUCK AKA CROWLEY PLEASE DONT COMMIT ATROCITIES. ALSO THE GREEN ONE IS LOUIE AND YEAH HE IS SO !! I CONSTANTLY FLIP BETWEEN WHICH IS MY FAV OUT OF THE TRIPLETS BUT HE WAS MY FAV FOR A GOOD WHILE !!

🌹 🌻🌾☄️for cuno pretty please
Cuno: (noun) ██████████████ (see also: ████████)
🌹 Where in the world does your OC feel most at home? Is there any reason why? If it’s not the place they were born, where were they born? Is there a certain somebody that makes them feel at home where ever they may be? What does home mean to them?
Short answer: Cuno has no concept of home anymore.
Long Answer:
████████████████████████████████████████████Rhi feels different because ███████████████████████████████████████████████████████ his twin ██████ R E D A C T E D ████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████
🌻 What little things do they notice about people or the world around them that make them happy? What tiny little treasures do they find in the normal every day that makes the world seem a little brighter for them?
Cuno is a sensory seeking little goblin. He focuses entirely on people's emotions and feelings and bodies in the moment because that is where he views the vibe the aura the soul of a person is. The history is the history of that part moving through space. So obviously he has to rub up on that!
Textures and other small objects that provide textures that he connects to memory are all in his pockets. Little stones, bits of leather, and charcoal for drawing. It's that aspect of things that he tries to capture in his art but it's also hard to properly capture and is why he doesn't complete much of his art.
🌾 Describe your OC through the eyes of someone absolutely head-over-heels in love with them
Omg they are so cute and funny and say everything exactly on their mind!
God what a little imp, such a handful and a disaster but this is so fun to watch.
Curious about everyone but himself. I guess that shows he cares?
Oh gosh, they care, oh god they care so much!
Who the fuck are you?
Living in the moment is so beautiful when that moment with with you
oh no, I must protect this creature. Not if he protects you first.
☄️ Does this OC deserve better treatment from you? Do you make them suffer just a little bit too much? Be nice to them!
No. Suffer more! Make me cry, make them cry. This is my emotional support woobie and I will squeeze him until he stops squeaking.

OK!! Not to suck your dick, but I fangirled a lil seeing you comment on my tag (I'm also @the-halo-of-my-memory) bc I adore you and your writing so much!! I love love love Our Patron Saint of Arts and Siouxie & The Soulmates. That shit made me so soft and your writing is effortless and charming and funny as if your fic was a person itself that i desperately wanted to be friends with, I'm forever jealous and inspired. OK I gotta go, love ya!! 💕💕💕 (p.s. feel free to steal my headcanon for anything)
Oh Jess (it's Jess, right?), please go ahead and suck my metaphorical dick. I'm just a sad girl on the internet that loves praise lmaooooooooooooo.
Trust me, the writing is not effortless on my end so the fact that it reads like that is fantastic feedback. I try really hard to give each story I write its own distinct like, tone/vibe/theme/personality, while maintaining my voice as a human bean and writer within it. Fanfic is so valid and important to me, and although I obviously do it for fun, I also take it seriously because fuck people that say it doesn't count as real literature and art? So, when cool cats like you feel something real when you read my stories, then that's cherry pie, my dude.
If (actually - when, probably) I give Eddie a cat, she'll be black and named Rainbow. For sure. Genius.
Thank you for visiting the inbox. You've made my day. xo Rhi

Session 19
[[<PREV]] | [[NEXT>]]
I missed a week! my bad! I think I was too caught up in the euphoria of getting a new tattoo lmao
But anyway. They made more friends! That’s totally what this is!
##
“But you may call me the Bran Rhi.” She smiles, cheeks dimpling.
The group are thrown. Craydark is tense at the back of them, whispering words as he flicks his fingers in complicated gestures that look as though he’s trying some kind of magic.
“What are you doing here?” she asks. “Apart from investigating this disappearing friend of yours.”
“Yeah, what are we doing here? Nakai?” Ophibwynn looks up at him.
“Well... there was a big misty wall, I put my head through, and now we’re here!” Nakai grins as he retells it, looking very pleased with himself.
“That... about sums it up, to be fair.” Ophibwynn nods.
“Oh, ok. Hm.” The Bran Rhi nods. “Well can I just...” she gestures them back towards where they came through. “This place isn’t really safe for – not humans, that isn’t the right word – well it isn’t safe for them but you aren’t all human – oh! Mortals! That's the right word!” She clicks her fingers. “Yeah, it isn’t safe for mortals, so you should leave.”
Alaric resists. “Hold up, hold up, we were looking for someone in here.”
“Wait, we’ve already met!” Ophibwynn doesn’t shift either. “You said we’re good friends. I think that we could have discussion about that, if you come through-”
“Yes, yes, I’ll come through, just you need to get out of here.”
The group push back through the mist, and the Bran Rhi continues walking until they’re back on the wide path and the mist is out of reach.
The Bran Rhi turns about on one foot to examine the mist, then looks up at the forest about them. “I was sure there was a spell over this place, to keep it all hidden.”
“I... may have broken it,” Ophibwynn admits.
The Bran Rhi rolls her eyes as she giggles. “No one ever just leaves these things alone. That’s ok, I’ll get someone to fix that.”
“And you all blamed me! ‘Ooh, Nakai, why’s the mist wall here?’ It wasn’t me!”
The Bran Rhi reaches up to pat his arm, having to stretch to reach since she’s only half his height.
“I’m having a bad day,” Nakai explains, sounding mournful.
“Cause you keep getting lost, and going through weird portals!”
“And falling asleep,” Skadi says.
“That was the sun’s fault. My people like the heat. It is calming and it means napping!”
The Bran Rhi giggles as she watches them.
“So,” Ophibwynn says, turning to her. “What’s your deal?”
“Oh, I was supposed to meet my brother here. I assume Kam’s holding him up, again. We fix these things.” She gestures back at the mist without looking at it.
“Well, when we met before, at the altar, you said it was quite funny that we were there because we might die. Is that... still a thing?” Ophibwynn asks carefully.
“I assumed you were there with my brother.” She shrugs. “He senses death, it’s a logical conclusion.”
“Oh. See now I thought that your brother was death.”
“Oh, no.” The Bran Rhi laughs. “No, no. Um. He just knows when it’s going to happen. Sometimes he stops it. Other times he doesn’t.”
“Oh. Well that’s fine, then. Here was me being all scared and stuff. But you seem nice!”
“Thanks!” The Bran Rhi smiles again and scans the group. “I don’t think any of you are in grave danger at the moment. But I can’t tell for sure? Probably fiiiine.”
“So we were looking for someone in here,” Skadi says. “He might have gone through the mist before us.”
“Oh, um-” The Bran Rhi looks back at the mist. “You think someone else walked through? He wouldn’t have been able to find it before the spells were broken. Or... he shouldn’t have been able to. I haven’t felt anyone else cross the mists.” She frowns, glancing down at her hands as she flicks her fingers in and out.
“Well, there was a guy that went for a little wander through the forest. This guy that’s with us,” Skadi says, pointing at Craydark, “It’s his pal, and we need to try and find him, so if you could help us, that’d be pretty grand.”
“I can pay you in a pie.” Ophibwynn starts to look through her bag.
“Or we can throw salt beef through the mist for ya.”
The Bran Rhi giggles, hands covering her face. “That’s cute. What a strange way to broker a deal.”
“It’s not bribery.” Ophibwynn sounds affronted.
“It’s just being nice! Calm down.” Skadi laughs.
“Just thought you might want a pie.”
The Bran Rhi looks confused for a moment as she studies them. “Right. Yes, ok. If I’m going to help you, we should do a trade.”
“What would you want to trade?” Alaric asks.
“Normally I deal in stories,” she replies. “I’m a storyteller, that’s my thing. So if you have any fun stories, I’ll help you for them.”
Alaric groans.
“Skadi, what about your wilderness time? How did you meet Aurora? Or... Nakai and Alaric, how did you guys meet?”
“Ah, well that’s a bit of a long story,” Alaric says. “But - well, for the sake of a trade. Well... we – first time we met, we were on opposing sides in a battle. Different mercenary companies employed by different lords. And we fought each other. I gave him that scar on my eye. He gave me... well, there’s a reason I can’t lift my arm too high. And then we ended up – after that, the next time we met we were both hired by the same lord to guard a caravan going through some bandit infested woods. And obviously, me and him didn’t see eye to eye.”
Nakai chuckles, pointing to the scar over his.
“No offence, Nakai. Just a turn of phrase.”
“You were sitting on my left,” Nakai says.
The Bran Rhi giggles and clasps her hands as she drinks this in.
“Yeah, and... surprise surprise, as you go through bandit infested woods-”
“A dragon swooped down!”
“No, it was bandits, Nakai.”
“I know. I was putting in flare!”
The Bran Rhi laughs at Nakai’s interruption, gaze flicking between the two of them.
“Fair enough. But let’s keep the story as close to truth as possible. So we got attacked by bandits. A lot of them. Everyone else was killed, ‘cept for me and him. We had to fight our way out. Caravan got stolen, but we got paid up front so it wasn’t too bad – well, half, but better than nothing. We fought our way back and ended up having to get out of the woods relying on each other to stay alive and all that. I saved his life, he saved mine, more than once, and after that we’ve been... steadfast friends ever since. Seemed to work out.” Alaric shrugs, glancing across at Nakai.
“And now you’re little buds!” Skadi grins.
“Yeah. Well, not little.” Alaric laughs. “But that’s the short of it, anyway.
The Bran Rhi focuses on her fingers for a moment, flicking them back and forth as she whispers to herself, so fast that the words blur into one. Then she looks up and nods. “Ok. I’ll help you for a bit.”
“Yay!” Ophibwynn cheers.
“Thank you.” Alaric nods.
“Ok, so. Are you sure this was where he was headed? This was the last place his trail went?”
“Oh, well we were just looking about and followed a bit of rope here.” Ophibwynn points to where their rope is tied among the trees. “We don’t really know, to be honest with you.”
“The trail’s gone a bit cold,” Skadi says.
“I think you’ve been turned about,” the Bran Rhi replies. She wanders back and forth a bit, looking around. “I don’t know this – place very well. But ah – I think... what was your friend’s name again?” she asks the question innocently, not looking up.
Craydark clears his throat as the group hesitates. “Atrin. His name’s Atrin.”
The Bran Rhi nods and starts to follow the rope back through the trees. “Hm,” she murmurs. “He’s not one of the threads I have. Um... I think – I don’t think he came near these woods. Or if he did, he’s been taken from them? If you head back – the spell you broke,” she says, changing tack, “It wasn’t just these woods it was covering. I think the trail leads away from here.” She frowns.
“Oh.” Ophibwynn blinks. “Huh.”
“What’s the reason we’re not allowed to go back into that weird ghost place?” Skadi asks. “Because it’s dangerous?”
“It will kill mortals,” the Bran Rhi replies.
“Kill us soon, kill us later... does it just sap our life force and we die because we can’t survive in there, or is it because there are dangerous things in there that would kill us?” Alaric asks.
The Bran Rhi tilts her head. “All of that. But also because that’s where the dragons are trapped.”
“Ah.” Alaric blinks.
“Dragons?” Skadi asks.
“Was that the same dragon you were picturing when you said one attacked us, Nakai?”
Nakai looks as if he’s in awe of the concept. “Dragons,” he whispers, almost longingly.
“Wait, one of our party had a dragon, and then we lost him.”
“Oh yeah... a little baby dragon.”
“And that one was quite cute.”
“Yeah, it was called Cassieopeia. It was a celestial dragon.”
The Bran Rhi giggles as she turns on her heel to look back at the party as they follow her, and she winks at them. “I know. I set that path.”
“How... how old are you?” Skadi asks.
The Bran Rhi draws herself up. “Don’t you know it’s rude to ask a lady her age?”
“Well you look like a child,” Ophibwynn says.
“You look like a wee bairn.” Skadi nods in agreement.
“Well - yeah, that’s how I want you to see me.” The Bran Rhi giggles.
“Why?”
“Cause. It’s cute, and people trust me more.”
“So should we... not trust you then?”
The Bran Rhi tilts her head and shrugs. “I mean, as a general rule-” She sighs. “This is going in circles. Your friend is that way.” She points out of the woods, to the East, to the way they’d come from.
“Apart from the dragons, what’s the deal with sending us away from the way we were headed?” Skadi frowns, stopping in her tracks.
Nakai raises his arm like he wants to ask a question.
“It’s pretty hush-hush, isn’t it?” Skadi folds her arms.
“Nakai, what do you want to say?” Ophibwynn asks.
“So if – if you’re saying that you want to be trustworthy but you shouldn’t be trusted, and you wanted us to leave that place, does that mean we should trust you for making us leave that place?”
“Nakai’s right,” Alaric says. “Also, Nakai, you’ve asked your question, you can put your arm down now.”
The Bran Rhi frowns and sighs, and in an instant is older, of a height with them. Her raven cloak is ankle length and seems to dissolve into the shadows of the forest around her. “I made a deal to help you,” she says, and her voice has taken on a different timbre, no longer that of a child. “Your path does not lead into the Mist.”
“But you’re not telling us why.”
“So our path does not lead into the mist, I think we can take that as fact,” Alaric says.
“You will die if you walk into the Mist and leave this world this way. I am trying to prevent that,” the Bran Rhi replies to Skadi.
“I don’t doubt that,” Alaric replies.
“Well - bye, then,” Skadi says, nervous laughter bubbling up.
“Ok, well – are you coming with us?” Ophibwynn asks.
“I can’t,” the Bran Rhi replies, and she’s a child again and hanging from a branch above them by her knees. “I have to wait here for my brother.”
Alaric startles at her shift, drawing back.
“Can’t you summon him to you, or leave a trail – I've got salt beef, you could leave a trail of salt beef.” Ophibwynn searches through her bag.
“He knows where I am.” The Bran Rhi shakes her head. “He’s on his way, I think Kam’s just holding him up. But it’s fine! They’ll get here.”
“Who’s Kam?”
“Kam’s our friend. Or... I think technically they’re his child.” The Bran Rhi frowns and taps a finger against her lip. “It was a weird adoption.”
“Families are weird,” Alaric says.
“They are!” The Bran Rhi nods.
“So how can you be sure that this dude we’re looking for is in the opposite direction?” Skadi frowns, clearly not trusting a word that the Bran Rhi says.
“Because I know he didn’t enter the Mist.”
“But you pointed to a very specific direction,” Ophibwynn says. “So... how do you know he’s in that direction?”
“Well, she knows he didn’t go into the mist,” Alaric explains. “So I’m assuming you saw him, and saw him walk off in that direction.”
The Bran Rhi looks at Alaric and doesn’t quite nod.
“Well, you certainly know he didn’t come this way, so whether you saw him or had some sense of it or knowledge of his rough whereabouts-” Alaric cuts off and shrugs.
The Bran Rhi does nod this time, still hanging upside down from the branch. She twists to look at Ophibwynn. “I know you think that the path you’re on – it leads all over, I know it ends at this tower and I know you’ll find their friend and I know he’s not in the Mist, and I realise I haven’t given you much reason to trust me but I don’t want to see you die before your thread is finished.”
“Ok,” Ophibwynn says after a pause. “Cool.”
“What tower?” Skadi asks.
“The tower that you’re heading to. The Broken World tower.”
Skadi frowns at her. “We... didn’t tell you that. Did we?”
“She just knows,” Ophibwynn says.
“Hm.”
“Ok, well maybe we go along this way then. Are you sure you don’t want to come with us?”
“I’m sure! I don’t want to get in the way.”
“Do we meet again?”
“I... can’t tell it that precisely.” The Bran Rhi drops from her branch and twists into a crouch. She gets up and clasps Ophibwynn’s hands. “But I hope we do, Ophi.”
“And I offered you a pie.”
“You did. But it wouldn’t have been a fair trade.”
“How?”
“It - would’ve been too much for the help I wanted to give you.” The Bran Rhi smiles. “And I don’t like being in people’s debt.”
“But it’s just a pie,” Ophibwynn sighs, sounding sad.
“Just a pie to you,” the Bran Rhi says.
“But you might get hungry.”
“I thank you for your worry.” The Bran Rhi bows to her.
“Ok. So maybe we should go off along this path that you’ve indicated, then.” Ophibwynn looks through the forest. “If that’s alright with everyone?
“Yeah... I mean, that’s fine. I feel like – this – she's still a bit shady. But whatever. We’ll just go and see if this person’s in the other direction. And to be honest, if it doesn’t work out for the guy, it’s also not just on us, you need to help decide to.” Skadi looks over at Craydark.
“Yeah, what do you think?” Ophibwynn asks.
Craydark’s been watching them this whole time, eyes narrow as he studies the Bran Rhi. “It’s true we haven’t found any traces of him here. Rex was adamant that he would be in these woods, but that doesn’t mean he’s still here. It might be worth casting the net further afield.”
“That makes sense.”
“Alright, let’s head off. See you later, weird...” Ophibwynn hesitates.
“Lady,” Skadi supplies, and laughs.
“Bran,” Ophibwynn finishes.
“See ya!” The Bran Rhi smiles and waves after them.
“I still don’t trust her. Feel like she was lying to us.”
Nakai, who’s been silent for a while now, looks confused as he glances between them all, then down at his hands as he uses his fingers to work something out.
“I don’t think we should entirely trust her,” Alaric says as they walk away. “But I don’t think they were entirely lying at the same time. I get the sense they were... I don’t know. They seem a sort of trickster kinda person.”
“Bit shady though.”
“Yeah, but like... all – I assume she was a Fae creature, Fae creatures are always quite... mercurial, let’s say.”
“We’ll see if we come across her again.” Skadi frowns.
They collect Rex and Groash and explain to them what they’d found out.
There’s that same change over the woods as they reach the lodge; the trees spread out and it becomes lighter, a far friendlier place.
As they reach the lodge and where they’d left their cart, they see a new trail that hadn’t been there before. It’s rutted and worn with wheel tracks, tramped down by many foot prints. It leads towards the mountains in the middle distance.
“Huh.”
“Did anything happen while we were gone?” Ophibwynn asks Rex.
He frowns. “This path wasn’t here when we entered the woods.” He shakes himself out and changes form to his full dog and casts about the new-old track.
He stops and lifts his head and looks back at them, and barks once as his tail begins to wag.
“Well, he’s found something,” says Craydark.
Rex starts walking along the track.
“I... I don’t mean to offend anyone,” Nakai says, his low undertone carrying even to Craydark and Groash, “But how we meant to know who these people are? Is he a man or a dog? And was that... girl a lady or a little girl or a raven or – I don’t know!”
“It’s all very confusing,” Skadi replies.
“I know!” Nakai almost wails. “That’s why I’m asking!”
“Some people can change their – you know, their... it’s magic, Nakai.” Alaric attempts to explain, then gives up.
“Just magic.” Skadi nods.
“That doesn’t explain anything.”
“Yes.”
“Maybe we’re not meant to understand some things. It just is.” Skadi shrugs.
Nakai grunts and sits up on the cart and coaxes the horses to follow Rex down the track. He taps a finger against his chin as he thinks it over.
“He barks, therefore he is a dog,” Alaric says, walking beside him. “Ok?”
“But then he talks like man.”
“When he talks, he is a man.” Alaric shrugs. “Don’t... think too hard about it.”
As they walk, Aurora gets Rex to race her up and down the path; even though he’s more concerned with following the trail, Rex beats her easily.
“Come on, Aurora!” Skadi sighs. “No beef for you.”
Ophibwynn sighs and tosses a handful of copper coins to Craydark, who grins.
Alaric glances back to see Groash hanging back from the group. He’s just bent down like he’s dropped something on the path, and he’s looking around as if he’s looking for something in the distance.
Alaric sidles over to him. “Everything ok?”
Groash glances across and shrugs. “Well, I don’t want to be walking into a trap, you know?”
“By... digging holes.”
“Seeing if they’ve left any tracking devices down.”
“Ah, fair enough.” Alaric frowns. “... Who would’ve left tracking devices?”
Groash shrugs. “That raven kid might’ve been working with someone here, right? What if they’ve got Atrin?”
“Oh, you think he’s been kidnapped? I thought he was just lost.”
“No one stays lost for that long around here. This lot-” He gestures at Craydark and Rex, “Seem to think he’s a pretty good tracker and hunter survivalist himself, so...”
“Alright, true.” Alaric shrugs. He thinks Groash is being paranoid, but maybe his fears aren’t as unfounded as all that.
#
They walk until nightfall and the path gets harder to spot because they are out of the plains and onto rock that hasn’t worn away quite as noticeably.
Alaric cautions the others to be wary as well, and notices that Groash isn’t digging in the ground as much as he had been.
There’s the glow of a fire ahead of them; at first, it seems to be just one campfire, but as they continue closer, it becomes apparent that it’s far bigger than that.
Ophibwynn motions the others to stop and drops to a crouch to shuffle forward. As she rounds the last spur of the road, she sees before her not so much a campsite as a small settlement. The buildings – arrayed in a circle around the midpoint, where the biggest fire burns – are made of the same stone that makes up the hills about them. It’s well-lit with torches, and Ophibwynn can see a handful of orcs pacing about it.
She ducks back to the others and explains what she’s seen. “And there was a human, too, in the middle. He-”
Rex starts growling.
“Maybe they’re friendly!” she says. “We could go up and ask them?”
“Yeah, that sounds good to me.” Skadi nods.
“Nakai?”
“Well, either way, I’m ready to bash heads in if it comes to it.” He makes sure the cart is going to stay where it is and picks his weapon up.
“Maybe... maybe you stay at the back,” Ophibwynn says.
“Talking isn’t my strong suits, ok? I think we have been very aware of that as long as we’ve been together.”
“I’m just saying, maybe we don’t just barge in with the head bashing.”
“I’m just saying, if it needs to be done, I’m there for it.”
“... Fair enough. Let’s go!” She turns, and then hesitates. “Oh. Maybe we keep people in reserve? Like I’ll go down and see what’s up, see if I can just sit by their fire because it’s been a long day. And if they’re mean, then Nakai can bash their heads in.”
“If she tells them I’ve got us lost again, I’m gonna-” Nakai grumbles and doesn’t complete his threat.
Ophibwynn walks back around the spur of rock, making no attempts to hide this time, and calls out to them.
One of the orcs comes over. He dwarfs her easily, and has a torn up young sapling over his shoulder as a club. He growls, “We don’t have space at the fire for you.”
“Oh.” Ophibwynn blinks up at him. “Well - are you sure? I’m not that big. And I just want to get warm for like five minutes and then I’ll be on my way.”
He narrows his eyes.
“I’ve got pies to share?”
He swings the club from his shoulder and thumps it onto the ground between them. “No.”
Nakai, ignoring Alaric’s hissed call after him, drops down low to the ground and sneaks towards Ophibwynn and the orc, circling around.
The orc doesn’t notice Nakai, intent as he is on Ophibwynn.
“Ok, well I guess if there’s no room by the fire,” Ophibwynn says, pitching her voice so that the others behind her can hear, “I guess I’ll just go on my merry way. I’ll see all... seven of you at some other time in the near future, maybe. Bye!” She walks back towards the others.
Nakai has found himself a hiding spot where he can watch the orcs, and watches Ophibwynn walk away. “Now what do I do?”
“These guys don’t seem very friendly,” Ophibwynn says to the others. “They won’t let me sit by their fire. What do you guys want to do?”
“How many of them are there?”
“Seven.”
“Well, Nakai’s already gone sneaking off,” Alaric says. “I sort of want to see what he can do, because I have never seen him sneaking before.”
“Why don’t we try...” Ophibwynn frowns. “No, maybe that won’t work.”
“What about the guy in the middle, is he just sitting there or is he tied up?” Alaric asks.
“He’s tied up.”
“Atrin,” Craydark murmurs, and shoots a warning glance at Rex, who’s still in his dog form and growling down at the camp. “Probably.”
“I could try casting a blindness spell on the orcs,” Ophibwynn says.
“That sounds good.” Alaric nods.
Ophibwynn nods and takes up a position where she can see the camp. She feels the focus of her Patron uncoil as she digs into her well of magic. She casts out the spell like a net over the orcs and watches as, one by one, they start to falter in their movements. They reach out to anything nearby, calling to one another.
“Got them,” she says to the others.
“Well done,” Skadi says.
“So we should just be able to walk past them.”
“How about you and Nakai make a distraction while we five,” Alaric gestures between himself, Skadi, Craydark, Groash and Rex, “Sneak in and get the guy.”
Ophibwynn nods and hurries over to join Nakai. “ORCS SUCK!” She funnels her hands about her mouth to yell across the camp.
Every orc turns in her direction at that.
Nakai bursts from his hiding spot and charges at the nearest orc.
Alaric, following Skadi as she sneaks down towards the camp, sees him and winces. “Nakai, that’s not the plan!” he yells across before he can stop himself.
Ophibwynn falters where she stands and stares as this all unfolds.
Nakai slams into the orc and smacks his warhammer into him in an overhead strike, sending the orc stumbling backwards.
As the other orcs start to move towards them, Groash splits away from the group to meet a pair that are striding towards them.
Craydark launches a magic strike at the same orc that Nakai has hit. It hits, sending him stumbling back again.
Ophibwynn stops where she is and captures a handful of lightning that she launches at an orc; it’s wild in her hands, and the orc is stumbling around, so she misses.
Nakai brings his warhammer around but misses as the orc reels and recovers from Craydark’s hit.
Behind him, Craydark winces and calls out, “Sorry!”
Alaric overtakes Groash and slices his main sword into the orc that meets him first, but misses with his second.
Rex, still as a dog, races past Craydark and leaps at the orc before Nakai, biting deep into his arm and worrying at it, tugging as he pulls back.
Skadi draws her bow and almost shoots Craydark. She realises her mistake and lowers her bow, then runs past him to stab at the other orc beside Alaric with two daggers, scotting a hit with both of them.
Groash walks up beside Alaric and Skadi (who apologises for almost shooting him), grunts, and swings his sword in a lacklustre strike at the orc in front of him, missing by a mile.
The two orcs turn almost back-to-back, one striking Skadi and the other striking Alaric.
The one being attacked by Rex and Nakai brings about his sapling-club and hits Nakai hard enough to stagger him back, almost landing him on the ground.
Craydark yells as he sees Nakai hit, and retaliates with another bolt of magic, making the orc falter before he can follow in with another blow.
Ophibwynn, seeing one of the orcs striding towards her, casts a fireball that smacks straight into his chest and catches there.
Nakai recovers and snarls, hitting the orc back. It’s not as strong a blow as he would’ve wished, but it’s enough to create some space between them.
Alaric hits with both swords this time, and cuts deep into the orc in front of him with a triumphant laugh.
Rex bites the orc’s leg and brings him to his knees as he pulls it from under him, growling all the while.
Skadi ducks a wild swing and stabs at the orc in front of her; one knife sinks deep, but the other bounces off his armour.
Groash makes another lacklustre swing at the orc in front of him and then, when he misses, bulls past him to meet the orc coming up from behind.
The orc that Skadi’s been attacking manages to hit her deep, and Aurora comes growling in to her defence as she stumbles back, pressing a hand to the cut in her side.
The other orc grunts as he hits Alaric with a low sweep to the leg, knocking him off balance and to the ground.
“I thought she blinded these orcs,” Skadi hisses.
“They’re getting lucky,” Alaric spits out, through gritted teeth.
Rex yelps as he’s hit, jumping back.
Craydark, rather than helping Rex, sees the orc gaining on Ophi and turns to hit him with a bolt of lightning that stops him short; the orc grunts as the fire eats through his armour and licks across his skin.
Ophibwynn steps up to meet the orc and hits him with one of her staffs, though she doesn’t get the other one into a good enough swing to hit as well.
Nakai swings wildly at the orc but misses as it stumbles after Rex, falling to its knees on the ground before him.
Alaric gets back to his feet and cuts at the orc; his first strike goes wild, but the second bites into its arm and almost makes it drop its own weapon.
Rex lunges at the orc and just misses getting his teeth in its throat; he tears its ear off instead.
Skadi steps back to catch her breath, and lashes out at the orc with both her daggers. It deflects them off its battered sword and leers at her, and she can’t deflect or dodge its next hit quickly enough.
Groash steps past the orc, apparently ignoring it as it stumbles towards the fight.
Nakai’s opponent punches Rex, pushing him away and throwing him to the ground.
Ophibwynn’s opponent fails to hit her, flinching as the fire bites deep into its chest.
Ophibwynn laughs at him and hits again with one staff, adjusting her grip on the other.
Nakai smashes his warhammer into his opponent's head, caving his skull down into his chest. He roars and lunges at the next nearest orc, not quite managing to land on him.
Alaric steps back as the orc fights back, deflects one hit and slices with his own; it goes wild, and the orc turns his sword away with a slap of its free hand.
Rex growls once more at the dead orc for good measure, then runs towards the fire and Atrin.
Skadi throws herself into a backwards roll and tries to get her bow out by the end of it. Her shot goes wide, soaring over the nearest stone building.
Alaric sees the eyes of the orc in front of him turn misty with a rage he knows all too well; he steps back, just enough to avoid the brunt of the attack – his arm is clipped, bleeding badly – and the orc turns with his swing and slams into the orc behind him, almost throwing it to the ground.
The orc it lashed at steps away, following Skadi, but doesn’t hit her.
As Rex races towards the fire, he doesn’t manage to avoid the bolt of magic that singes the length of his back; he yelps, but keeps running.
Nakai’s new opponent backs away before him, barely even managing to lift his weapon before he stumbles over it.
Ophibwynn’s opponent manages to hit her a glancing blow, more through luck than anything else, and then as the fire eats across his body, he falls dead to the ground.
Craydark launches a bolt of electricity at the orc in front of Nakai, paralysing it.
Ophibwynn blinks at the dead corpse and turns to run past Craydark, aiming a firebolt at the orc in front of Skadi. Her fireball shoots past him close enough to singe, but it crashes into the stone mountainside instead.
Nakai punches the orc in front of him, almost forgetting he has a weapon to use.
Alaric darts in to slice the orc across the back before stepping away, using his second blade to guard against a wild flail of its armoured fist.
Rex leaps forward and changes forms in the air, landing beside Atrin. “Hey,” he says, cutting through the ropes holding his arms together. “What did you mess up this time?”
“Aurora, get him,” Skadi says, backing up from the orc that’s striding towards her.
The wolf gets between them and jumps up, snapping at him. She snaps her jaws shut on his arm and tugs, pulling him off-kilter.
Alaric’s opponent pushes him back against the nearest building and cuts a slice down his leg, laughing at the gasp of pain he elicits.
The orc shakes off Aurora and reaches Skadi, smacking past her defence and cutting into her side again.
“We were wondering if a rescue would ever come,” says the orc by Atrin, laughing as he palms a ball of magic and lances it at Rex.
Nakai’s opponent smacks him back, clubbing him in the jaw to get away.
Groash charges, finally entering the fight. But he charges at Rex, taking the man by surprise as he overbalances onto the ground.
Craydark, hearing Rex’s outraged yell, runs to where he can see them. “You fuck!” he yells, and casts a summoned net at Groash.
The half-orc is entangled and thrown to the ground, skidding through the dirt to rest at the orc shaman’s feet.
Nakai roars and misses spectacularly as he tries to reorientate himself, blinking to focus on his opponent.
Atrin flexes his hands and twists his wrists, reaching for Groash’s dropped weapon. He swings it up, only to miss the sorcerer as he overextends.
Alaric yells as he strikes and kills the orc in front of him. As the orc falls before him, Atrin steps past the corpse and limps for shelter.
Skadi pulls a poison vial from her bag and pours it over her knives before she stabs the orc, who stumbles back from her. It must be a fast-acting poison; he’s already not looking too good, and she grins to see it.
Rex stands over Groash and kicks him in the stomach, and laughs as he gasps out his breath. “You betrayed us! You deserve so much more.”
Skadi’s opponent, flagging and bleeding from numerous wounds, misses her as she sidesteps his weak attack.
Another strides towards Craydark and hits him with a club before Craydark even realises he’s there; the elf yells in surprise and stumbles with the blow.
Nakai’s opponent pulls back from him and doesn’t even try to hit him in his bid to escape the rampaging lizardfolk.
The sorcerer laughs at Atrin. “This might be too little too late, for you.” He doesn’t make a move to attack, seeming confident in his band's strength.
“Don’t talk them to death,” Groash grunts out, pulling a hand free from the net to punch at Rex; he hits his shin with a solid blow and Rex pulls his foot back, managing to balance on the other.
Craydark ducks away from his assailant and catches sight of Alaric limping away. “Here-” He thrusts out a hand, and manages to partially heal the worst of Alaric’s wounds.
Ophibwynn scans for a target and swivels to help Nakai, getting in close to thrust a fist full of fire into his armour. It catches, scorching up one side of his body.
Nakai grabs the orc before he can react and rips his arms off. As the orc wavers on his feet, Nakai snaps his jaws shut around the orc’s head and into his chest, and begins to crunch.
Ophibwynn winces and looks away.
“With him, I agree,” Atrin says, and drops Groash’s weapon in favour of punching the sorcerer. “You talk far too much.”
Alaric, rejuvenated slightly by Craydark’s spell, turns on his heel to run and help Skadi. Before the orc even realises that he’s there, Alaric has stabbed him through the neck and tugged him over onto his side.
“Thanks.” Skadi blinks at him.
Alaric nods and moves towards the middle of the settlement.
Skadi follows him, taking out her bow. She fires an arrow for the orc following Craydark, and her arrow lands solidly in the side of his head. The orc judders with the hit, but doesn’t stop his attack on Craydark, and the elf takes a shallow cut across his ribs.
Rex lashes out at Groash, but the half-orc manages to roll out of the way, nearer into Rex’s circle, bumping up against his unhurt foot.
Groash grins up at him and then bites down on Rex’s ankle, and his oversized teeth pierce through his skin.
As Rex yells, Craydark’s hands ignite with fire and he shoves them in his assailant’s face.
Ophibwynn runs towards where she can hear Rex yelling and slings out a blast of lightning. She misses Groash, misses them all, as it sparks off a metal rack lying in the dirt beyond him.
Nakai finishes chewing and spits out bone as he strides in amongst the buildings. He sees the orc attacking Craydark and charges at him, growling all the while.
The orc looks up and sees this eight-foot lizardfolk, smeared in blood and still carrying the arm of another orc, charging at him and stumbles over his feet in his haste to back away.
Nakai raises the arm – still dripping blood – to use as a weapon, and the orc flees, inches away from being hit.
Atrin punches the sorcerer again, following him as he knocks him back further from the fire.
Alaric runs to intercept the orc fleeing from Nakai. “Can I have some healing?” he yells at Craydark as he attacks.
His first sword skates across the orc’s armour, but the second misses him entirely as the orc keeps running.
Skadi runs into the centre of the settlement, coming up behind Groash with her knives out again. “Don’t hurt Rex!” she cries at him, and stabs both blades down into his back.
Rex grins at her and kicks Groash back so that the knives sink farther into him.
The sorcerer knocks Atrin back with a blast of magic, and he nearly stumbles into the fire.
Craydark takes a moment to focus and centre himself, then sends healing magic Alaric’s way. “That do you?”
Ophibwynn runs up the side of a line of supplies behind Atrin and Rex, coming to a halt and turning to face the sorcerer. She summons a fireball and throws it in the same instant, slamming it across the arm he raises to shield himself.
Nakai charges after the fleeing orc and tries to hit him with the bloody arm; he misses, catching Alaric a glancing blow with it instead. With his hammer in his other hand, he does manage to land a hit on the orc, causing him to stumble.
Atrin glances back at Ophibwynn as she appears, grins at her, then punches the sorcerer again, following it with a kick to his knees that sends the orc to the ground.
“Hey! Healing? Please?” Alaric backs away from Nakai and the orc, then turns to join the fight in the middle of the settlement, arrowing in on the sorcerer who seemed to be in charge. He feints first, to see what the orc would do, and follows with a cut from his second sword that bites deep into the orc’s chest, slicing through the fabric of his robe easily.
Skadi stabs Groash again, digging her dagger in deep.
Rex grabs up Skadi’s other dagger and lifts Groash to his feet so he can twist it into his stomach.
Nakai’s orc, pressed against the side of a building, tries to take a swing at Nakai and misses.
Groash retaliates by smashing his head into Rex’s. He drops Groash, stumbling back.
The orc sorcerer tries to throw magic at Atrin again, but his concentration is broken and the spell fails in his hands.
“Stop getting in the way of Nakai!” Craydark yells as he heals Alaric once more.
“I have learnt that lesson so many times, Alaric roars back. “But somehow, he always ends up beside me.”
Ophibwynn laughs and stops abruptly as she catches sight of Rex stumbling away. “Wait - come on, heal,” she hisses at her hands, but she’s never done healing magic before and she doesn’t know how to spark it.
Nakai hits the orc with the arm in his hand, back and forth, grinning his blood-stained manic grin at him all the while. The orc is still smouldering with fire, too, and Nakai laughs to see it. “Meat’s back on the menu, boys!”
Atrin kicks the sorcerer in the head, knocking him onto his back, and bends to pick up a fallen sword.
Alaric moves to attack him as well, but Atrin holds out a hand. “He’s mine, if you wouldn’t mind.”
As Skadi taps on Groash’s shoulder to draw his attention away from Rex, she tries to throw Rex a pie in the same moment. Groash lurches about to see her, knocking her throw wide.
Rex drops to all fours, and Skadi sees Aurora leap for the pie out of the corner of her eye.
Rex changes shape, shifting to his dog form, and every cut that’s been inflicted on him heals in moments. He shakes himself off and growls at Groash.
The sorcerer pushes himself backwards along the ground, attempting to heal himself as he goes.
Groash grunts and punches Skadi, and laughs as she stumbles back with it.
“Did we not pay you enough?” Craydark yells, and the magic sparks in his hands and almost goes haywire as he starts to lose control of it.
Groash shrugs, finally pulling free of the rope.
Ophibwynn launches a fireball at the sorcerer, hitting him and stalling his escape.
Nakai grins at the orc with the full length of his jaw as he puts down his hammer. He places his free hand on the orc’s shoulder, and laughs in a way that’s almost companionable.
The orc laughs nervously, clutching at his sword.
Nakai lifts him up and slams him into the nearby brazier headfirst.
With the orc screaming his last behind him, Nakai turns and stomps up behind Groash, looming over him.
Atrin strides towards the sorcerer as he tries to recover. “I’ll be taking my leave now,” he says, and stabs the orc through the heart.
Alaric turns towards Groash, stepping in to hem him from another direction.
Groash avoids one of Alaric’s swords but not the other, grunting as it bites into his arm.
Skadi stabs him again, grabbing up her second knife from where Rex dropped it and cutting deep into Groash’s leg.
Rex leaps up to meet Groash as he falters, snapping his jaws about the half-orc's neck and baring him to the ground. He’s growling deep in his throat and shakes his head back and forth a few times to make sure that Groash is dead.
“So. Uh. How... how are you?” Skadi asks Atrin, cleaning her daggers.
Rex pads over to stand beside Atrin, and they all watch as he sits there and Atrin has to readjust his stance for the dog leaning on his leg.
“I will be fine,” he replies. “Thank you for your timely rescue.”
“How did you get captured?” Ophibwynn asks.
Atrin looks away. “I... I was on my way back to Malpha,” he says. “And I perhaps was not paying as much attention as I should have been. They must have slammed me with a spell.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Ophibwynn replies.
Atrin squints at Groash’s corpse. “He wasn’t... did he come in with you?” He looks down at Rex. “I thought you had better instincts than that, buddy.”
Rex looks away, his ears drooping, and he whines a little.
Nakai takes out the lacy handkerchief from his accoutrements and starts to dab the blood from his face.

PLEASE RHIS IS SO FUNNY it's a shame they didn't show more of the B-side versions of Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, and Uhura because I would have loved to see more of Kirk-B's yelling xD
