A mia moglie

This essay is so interesting to write but I fear it is not sociological enough. I’m chatting about maurice (only briefly), and I might mention good guys by mika because both of those mention Oscar Wilde (good guys somewhat obliquely)

Zolf Smith Gets A Kith Day
Alright, folks. Announcement post!
My little weasel brain has decided to fixate on Zolf Smith, the Sad Dad Lad, and Oscar Wilde, the Sad Poet Man and I’ve also watched @damienthepious carry the torch as the Patron Saint of Lizard Kissin’ over in the Penumbra fandom, and SO. Zolf Smith Gets a Kith Day was born. (Shoutout to @swordfaery for coming up with this incredible name, and also the entire lolomg server for encouraging me to do this y’all are all wonderful thanks)
What is Zolf Smith Gets a Kith Day?
If you’re in the Penumbra Podcast fandom, and have seen Lizard Kissin’ Tuesday, think that but for Zolf and Wilde!
If you have no clue what I’m talking about, it’s a weekly spotlight on Zolf and Wilde’s relationship. I wanted this day to focus specifically on their relationship as a queerplatonic one, because while I do like romantic Zolf/Wilde a lot, I think the fact that Ben specified in canon that it’s going to be a deep platonic relationship is important and I want to see more content like that! Queer platonic relationships are so incredibly rare in fiction and I am going to fight for this one.
When is it?
I’m planning my first post for next Sunday (4/25/21), and I’m hoping this will be a weekly thing on Sundays!
What does this mean?
I’m planning to write a fic a week about Wilde and Zolf in a qpr. I may do one-shots, aus, multichapters, idk! I just want to write about these two for as long as my brain is hyperfixated on them. Join me! Art, fanfic, meta-posts. Whatever floats your boat! (pun intended). I want to drown in qpr content ok? Please? Just let me have this /lh. (and follow me here on tumblr or @ ADreamIsASoftPlaceToLand on AO3 if you just wanna read some fic!)
Tags
I’m going to tag everything on AO3 and Tumblr as “Zolf Smith Gets a Kith”, or shorten it to “zsgak”. If you post anything, please tag it and/or me because I want to see it!!! no need to credit me or anything, I want this to be a fandom thing not just a Me Thing :P

Ravenna (excerpt)
III 2.  ... Mighty indeed their glory! yet to me Barbaric king, or knight of chivalry, Or the great queen herself, were poor and vain, Beside the grave where Dante rests from pain. His gilded shrine lies open to the air; And cunning sculptor's hands have carven there The calm white brow, as calm as earliest morn, The eyes that flashed with passionate love and scorn, The lips that sang of Heaven and of Hell, The almond-faced which Giotto drew so well, The weary face of Dante; --- to this day, Here in his place of resting, far away From Arno's yellow waters, rushing down Through the wide bridges of that fairy town, Where the tall tower of Giotto seems to rise A marble lily under sapphire skies! Alas! my Dante! thou has known the pain Of meaner lives, --- the exile's galling chain, How steep the stairs within kings' houses are, And all the petty miseries which mar Man's nobler nature with the sense of wrong. Yet this dull world is grateful for thy song; Our nations do thee homage, --- even she, That cruel queen of vine-clad Tuscany, Who bound with crown of thorns thy living brow, Hath decked thine empty tomb with laurels now, And begs in vain the ashes of her son.
3. O mightiest exile! all thy grief is done: Thy soul walks now beside thy Beatrice; Ravenna guards thine ashes: sleep in peace.
1878 Oscar Wilde

Movie rec based on emoji please! ☕️🌷👒
lovely mg! fantastic emoji choices. i see flowers and hats and hot beverages and i can think of nothing but a garden tea party. and when i think of a garden tea party, i think of the excellent garden party scene in the 2002 version of The Importance of Being Earnest (dir. Oliver Parker). this film stars both dame judi dench AND reese witherspoon, so you know you’re in for a chaotic sort of time. and there’s a scene that takes place in a victorian tattoo parlor that i have never managed to scrub from my mind.
