I Love You, In Every Universe
Tumblr media
Welcome home, my love.
This is a romance-based RP blog for people’s favorite user of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Stephen Strange. If you have need for your magical husband/boyfriend, then I am here to help provide that for you. My rules are simple, listed below. I am here to help people when they’re having bad days and there’s very few things that I’m not willing to do for people. The thing I ask above all is that you please be respectful of other people in the blog. Don’t reach out to another person and antagonize them. Stephen belongs to all of you crazy little monsters in this world, whether it be you yourself or your original character. We all need a place where we can go to feel safe and loved.
Rules (As of October 2022)
Everyone has their own Multiverse, please don’t overlap your/your character’s story with someone else’s. These interactions are specifically designed to bring you and your character peace.
Please do not god mod. If you have something you want/need specifically, message me @purplefeathersandblackleather and I'll make sure to put it in my next post. I don't allow DM from people I don't follow. Sorry in advance.
If you want a specific designation, then introduce yourself/your character in your first ask using parenthesis so that I know exactly what you want Stephen to address you as.
DO NOT HATE on other people in the blog. This blog is LBGTQ+ friendly. Slander, hate speech and antagonism will cause in an immediate block and remove all posts of yours.
If you want to address me directly, then either note to “Admin” or use a blue heart emoji ( 💙 ) before your post.
No NSFW posts on the blog! This is meant to be a soft blog where it’s romantic, not sexual content. Insinuation/talk of romantic planning is allowed. If you wish for more intimate interactions, please tell me on my OG blog and we will discuss how to progress it so that it rounds back to dashboard posts.
Notes
The interactions work in chapters. After 20 reblogs, a new chapter will start so that I can keep track of everyone's Multiverse easier. In time, I will be putting these into actual story format with permissions. (11/02/2022)
This blog is LGBTQ friendly. Your/your character’s pronouns are important so please send me a ask with a blue heart to tell me what you wish to be addressed as before you actually begin interacting with Stephen.
This blog is also Strangecest, IronStrange, PalmerStrange friendly. If you wish to see Stephen interact with a canon character that you are playing, that is perfectly fine, as well.
Having children with Stephen - whether biologically or adopted - is fully accepted. You may mention your children by name or plan to have one with him at any time. Simply designate what you wish for in your ask.
Please keep cursing to a minimum if possible. I wish for my content to stay as family friendly as possible.

So, I had a thought
Original characters are always a pleasure to make, but they never seem to feature in any of my fics. I'd like to do something about that. Introducing Captain Victrisis: a turian soldier whose best interests lie with his people. He believes where he has the capability, he should do right by the demands of the greater good, but has a sharp edge to his personality as he treats his crew sternly, and with discipline.
To him, failure is never an option.
Tumblr media
[Picrew link: https://picrew.me/image_maker/1200072]
Captain Octavius Victrisis commands the Celestial: a turian frigate that patrols territory within Utopia, Exodus Cluster (Terminus Systems) as they transport people and resources between Eden Prime and Earth. Given the pre-ME1 state of being, this relationship with the Alliance is purely experimental, and will eventually lead on to a partnership with the turians as a whole, and thus the creation of the SSV Normandy (SR-1).

An exploration into Nicki’s time in Paris before his violin lessons, and later, his meeting with Lestat after the wolf slaying.
This is a prequel to Rainbow in the Dark
I just figured that I would expand upon Nicki's time in Paris before he took up the violin and before he returned back to the Auvergne, where he met Lestat after the wolf slaying incident. It builds upon some hints in the fic above, and this along with others that come along as the story progresses will remain as its separate AU - separate from my other more canon compliant slightly divergent Nickistat stories where Lestat is already a vampire. In this, Nicki and Lestat are still human.
Title of story is taken from Candlemass' At the Gallows End
Hope you will enjoy!

Since You've Been Gone
Since you’ve been gone
Neither Adrien nor Kagami intended to drop off the map as soon as they turned 18, they both decided to get away from their parents as quickly as possible. So, without a word to anyone, they packed their bags and hopped onto the first plane to America, both completely ignoring any duties they had. Plagg making his displeasure known through scratches.
Kagami had been surprised when Adrien told her he was Chat Noir, when they were on the plane, but both were already committed to leaving and not looking back.
“I did leave some notes behind,” Adrien admitted, “I only hope that Nathalie shows them to the others.”
“Hopefully.” Said Kagami, resting her head on Adrien’s shoulder.
SYBG
Ladybug ducked under the Akuma’s swing, quickly wrapping her yoyo around their wrist and giving a sharp tug, sending the Akuma off balance. Ladybug’s fist connected with the Akuma’s nose, allowing her to grab the akumatized object, a lanyard, and break it, letting the Akuma fly out. She quickly caught the butterfly, before purifying it.
Ladybug stopped to catch her breath, before casting the cure, as the little red bugs flew around the city, Ladybug could only wonder where Chat Noir was.
Rena and Carapace landed behind her.
“Thank you.” Said Ladybug, breathlessly, “I know I had no right to ask you of this.”
“No sweat.” Said Carapace, while Rena gazed across the skyline.
“Where is he?” Asked Rena, climbing up a lamp post.
“I don’t know.”
SYBG
Adrien stretched as the plane landed.
“Eight years.” Murmured Kagami, leaning forwards and cracking her neck, “I wonder how things have changed.”
“Everyone’s probably in their high-flying careers, Nino’s a DJ, Alya is a top reporter and Marinette’s,” Both Adrien and Kagami’s hearts fluttered at the mention of the mixed-race girl, “A high and rising fashion designer.” Said Adrien, slumping back in his seat, “I only hope they have time to nobodies like us.”
Kagami hummed, before getting to her feet, “Well, I suppose we should get going, I doubt the cab is going to wait for us much longer.”
“I’m just glad my Father isn’t there waiting for us.” Said Adrien, oblivious to the looks he was getting, “I’m actually surprised he’s been so quiet.
“I’m not.” Snorted a Security Guard, making Adrien look at him.
“What do you mean?” Asked Adrien, his tone defensive.
“Well,” Drawled the Security Guard, “Since Hawkmoth’s been defeated, you’re Daddy has been rotting away in a prison cell.”
“Funny.” Groused Adrien, as the Security Guard walked up to him.
“Oh, no, I’m being serious.” Said the Security Guard, “Besides, the son of Hawkmoth is causing a disturbance.”
“Actually, Gerald,” Came the voice of Sabrina from beyond the group, “it seems you are the one causing the disturbance.”
Gerald paled and spun around to face the red head.
“Detective Raincomprix, I didn’t know you were there.” Said Gerald, trying to compose himself.
“And that makes it alright to harass innocent people?” Asked Sabrina, raising an eyebrow.
Gerald looked at the floor a mumbled.
“What the hell is going on here?” Asked a member of staff, walking up to the group.
“Nothing major,” Said Sabrina, “I’m just collecting to old friends and taking them for coffee.”
Sabrina jerked her head, indicating for Adrien and Kagami to follow her.
“But” Said Adrien, “Our luggage…”
“I’m sure Marinette or Chloe will send someone to pick it up for you.” Said Sabrina, dismissively, “Come on, I’m sure Nino and Alya will be thrilled that you arrived in time for their wedding.”
Adrien and Kagami shared a brief look, before following Sabrina to her car, sliding into the back.
“Don’t start making out back there,” Said Sabrina, looking down beside her, “Marinette won’t be happy if this little one’s mind is corrupted at this age.”
Both Adrien and Kagami leaned forwards and caught sight of a black-haired toddler sitting curled up around a particularly vicious looking Jack Russell Terrier. The dog looked at the two and growled at them.
“Barkk, calm down,” Said Sabrina, making the dog look at her, “They’re friendly.”
The dog immediately calmed down, resting her head on the toddler’s shoulder.
“Sorry about Barkk.” Said Sabrina, starting her car, “She’s particularly protective of Hugo, I’m not even sure how Alya convinced Marinette to take a day off from looking after him. He’s practically running her ragged.”
“Ah,” Said Adrien, “Family member?”
“Yeah, something like that.” Said Sabrina, absently, as the car lulled into a silence.
As they pulled up to Le Grande Paris Hotel, Hugo leaned over Barkk and opened the passenger side door, before hopping out and running inside.
“Hugo!” Yelled Sabrina, hurriedly getting out of the car and chasing after the boy.
“I didn’t realise Marinette had a brother.” Said Kagami, as she and Adrien followed Sabrina inside.
“I didn’t either.” Said Adrien, as they entered the hotel.
Almost immediately the lobby went quiet. Adrien and Kagami nervously looked around the room, spotting all of Adrien’s former classmates, sans Marinette, as well as some of Kagami’s as well.
“Hey, guys.” Said Adrien, prompting Nino to stalk over to him and punch him in the face.
“Eight years!” Exclaimed Nino, “You vanished without a trace eight years ago, leaving no note, no way to making sure we didn’t worry and all you have to say is ‘Hey, guys’?!”
“I left a note.” Protested Adrien, rubbing his jaw, “It was on my desk at home.”
Nino paused and mulled that piece of information over, “And your dad with holding it from us would be something he’d do.”
“Yeah, about that,” Said Adrien, standing straight, “Why’s everyone saying he’s Hawkmoth?”
Nino stared at him, before his eyes widened.
“Wait, you don’t know?” Asked Nino, as two blurs flew into the room.
Ladybug and Queen Bee skidded along the floor, before silently releasing their transformations.
“Slow day, not much is going on.” Said Marinette, straightening up.
“Girl, you’re supposed to be relaxing.” Chided Alya, as a small black-haired blur rushed toward Marinette.
“Maman!” Yelled Hugo, latching onto Marinette’s legs.
Both Adrien and Kagami gaped at the two, with Marinette letting out a melodical laugh as she picked the toddler up.
“Hugo!” Laughed Marinette, “I hope you were behaving yourself with Auntie Sabrina.”
“He was,” Said Sabrina, “Well, at least up until we got back here, he opened the door and shot inside before anyone could stop him.”
Marinette frowned, before positioning Hugo to face her, “Hugo, we’ve talked about this.”
“But Barkk was smelly!” Exclaimed the toddler, his little arms lifting in protest.
Marinette sighed, before looking over at Adrien and Kagami, “Welcome back, you two, I hope Plagg and Longg are with you.”
The Kwami’s emerged from their hiding places.
“So, the Guardian’s told you, huh?” Asked Plagg, as Tikki flew over to him.
“They deemed it appropriate that one of their number should be made aware of the identities of the different Miraculous users.” Responded Marinette, as she walked over, “How are you two?” Marinette asked Adrien and Kagami.
“Jet lagged and stiff.” Said Kagami, as Adrien looked around, “Does his father know?”
“About Hugo or the fact, I’m Ladybug?” Said Marinette, placing Hugo down so he could play with Alya and Nino.
“Both.” Said Kagami, as she fought to keep her expression neutral.
“Yes and no, Isaac kept changing his mind on if I should get and abortion or not,” Sighed Marinette, “but by the time he settled on I should, I was too far along. When I told him that, he packed his bags and left, I haven’t heard from him since.”
“And you’re alright with that?” Asked Adrien, making Marinette frown.
“Am I supposed too not?” Responded Marinette, her eyes narrowing.
“Well, it’s just that you and Luka were together when we left…” Adrien started to trail off when Chloé started to wave her hand in front of her throat, signalling him to stop.
“Luka,” Said Marinette, her voice cold, “Felt that his fans were worth more that whoever he was in a relationship with.”
Marinette spun on her heel and stalked out of the lobby, Hugo happily chattering away.
“Did something happen?” Asked Adrien, nervously looking around.
“Marinette and Luka started getting into fights,” Said Alya, rubbing her hand over her face, “Eventually, they started to develop coping mechanisms, Marinette started smoking and hanging around clubs and Luka… embraced the life of a celebrity.”
Adrien cocked his head slightly, getting a groan from Nino.
“Luka, at some point, got hooked on drugs,” Said Nino, “We don’t know who or what, but it messed him up, he started sleeping around, getting into fights, gambling… Marinette found out and, well, they actually came to blows.”
“Where’s Luka now?” Asked Kagami, her eyes narrowing in suspicion.
“He’s just gotten out of rehab and he’s on tour with the rest of Kitty Section,” Said Sabrina, “Marinette actually named him Hugo’s Godfather.”
“But the way she said…” Adrien trailed off at the concerned look Alya and Nino shared.
“Marinette’s got a lot on her plate,” Said Alya, folding her arms across her abdomen, “Between Hugo and her work, she doesn’t do anything. Literally, she’s either with Hugo or working, sometimes both.”
“Hugo’s actually called the Police Station,” Said Sabrina, leaning against the lobby desk, “Saying Marinette had ‘fallen over’.”
“She collapsed,” Said Chloé, bluntly, “She was out for about a week, before she woke up. And that week was more than long enough for the hospital to make a diagnosis.”
“And that was?” Asked Kagami, her frown deepening.
“Exhaustion.” Said Chloé, idly scrolling on her phone, “She’s been running herself ragged and doesn’t understand the words ‘you’, ‘need’, ‘to’ and ‘rest’.”
Adrien looked around, nobody meeting his eyes, “When you left, things got… difficult.” Said Nino, twisting the ring on his left hand, “Hawkmoth was only defeated because Marinette, well, she, uh…”
Adrien didn’t like the way Nino trailed off.
“Hawkmoth found out who she was and,” Chloe paused, before swallowing, “and destroyed her parents’ bakery.”
“Her mother didn’t make it, and, at that point, Marinette was living elsewhere with her kid and when she found out, she took off.” Alya picked up, “By the time we got there, she’d taken Hawkmoth’s Miraculous and was beating him to a pulp and that’s when one of her earrings became dislodged and the cat was out of the bag.”
“But, if her identity is common knowledge, then aren’t she and Hugo in danger?” Asked Kagami, getting a snort from Kim.
“Welcome to the party, you’re only eight years late.” Said Kim, scowling and folding his arms.
“Kim!” Snapped Alya, whipping around to glare at the Vietnamese man.
“What?” Demanded Kim, “It’s not like you’re not thinking it, they skipped town and left Marinette to deal with everything on her own, only to come back act as if nothing’s changed? They weren’t there, they didn’t see how much they hurt Marinette with what they did! They weren’t there when she was at her lowest, they didn’t-”
“KIM!” Yelled Nino, making the other man stop.
Kim just scowled and folded his arms, looking away from Adrien and Kagami. An uneasy silence filled the lobby.
“You’re probably going to need a room.” Said Chloe, starting to check the couple into a room, “Room 37-1, it’s the first one on the left form the elevator.”
Adrien quietly took the key and headed into the elevator with Kagami, once the doors closed and the box started its ascent, Adrien slumped against the wall.
“We fucked up.” Muttered Adrien, unable to get the sight of Marinette and Hugo out of his head. The sight of Marinette and a child. A child that neither him nor Kagami had a connection with.
SYBG
Marinette rubbed her eyes, finding herself in the bed Chloe had assigned to her, finding Hugo cuddled up against her side with his thumb stuck in his mouth. Adrien and Kagami turning up had knocked her for six, but she refused to allow them to control her thoughts.
‘They’re not here for you,’ Marinette thought to herself, ‘They don’t care, they only want each other.’
Marinette picked up her phone, wincing at the seven missed calls from Luka, before she noticed the time. 2:37 am. Marinette had only been asleep for ten minutes. There was a bottle of sleeping pills on the desk, but the last time she’d taken them, they hadn’t been effective. The only way Marinette could get to sleep was to work herself until she passed out.
After securing Hugo to prevent him from rolling off the bed, Marinette sat down at her desk and opened her sketchbook and began designing.
When Marinette looked at the clock again, it was 7:26 am. Marinette groaned and rubbed her eyes, before looking over at Hugo, smiling slightly when she saw he’d gone full starfish. Marinette looked at her phone again, frowning at a text from Luka.
L: Juleka’s fallen sick, we’re cutting the tour short.
Juleka wasn’t someone who would fall sick easily, the girl was a massive germaphobe, she carried hand sanitiser everywhere and had disposable gloves and face masks on her at all times.
M: Why, what’s happened?
L: She collapsed on stage, she then coughed up blood.
M: How’s Rose taking it?
L: Something happened last night, and they haven’t spoken since.
M: You didn’t answer the question.
L: Rose wasn’t at the performance; we haven’t been able to raise her.
Marinette’s frown deepened, Luka wasn’t telling her something. Marinette got to her feet and stumbled as she blacked out for a second.
SYBG
Kagami watched the tea swirl around on her cup, she’d overheard that Marinette was in this suite and let herself in. Marinette stumbled into the room, not seeing Kagami sitting at the table. Marinette’s hair was wispy, her skin was pale, and she had dark rings under her eyes. Marinette got within three feet of the table, before her legs gave out.
Kagami jumped to her feet, the chair skidding back, and hooked her arms around Marinette and kept her from falling to the floor.
“What the hell, are you alright?” Asked Kagami, as Marinette shook the sleep out of her eyes.
“Hm, yeah, I’m fine.” Said Marinette, her voice weak, as she tried to stand.
Kagami heave Marinette into a chair and started looking for her phone.
“What are you doing?” Asked Marinette, her head drooping to the side.
“I’m calling the hospital, what does it look like I’m doing?” Said Kagami, dialling the hospital’s number.
“It’s nothing,” Said Marinette, shaking her head, “I just need some coffee.”
“You collapsed!” Yelled Kagami, looking at Marinette, “How can you say it’s nothing?”
Marinette scowled at Kagami, “You know, you don’t have to pretend to be worried. I know you and Adrien couldn’t care less about anyone that isn’t yourselves.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Demanded Kagami, as Hugo peered out from behind the bedroom door.
“Adrien, as Chat Noir, had a responsibility to Paris,” Said Marinette, leaning back, “A responsibility he decided to run away from because he didn’t like it.”
“That’s not why we left.” Snarled Kagami, putting her phone down, “We left because our overbearing, shit show parents wanted to control our lives and we wanted some basic freedom, and it’s not like you even noticed he was gone.”
Marinette glared at Kagami, before grabbing her left arm with her right hand and unhooked the appendage. Marinette placed the prosthetic on the table and glared at Kagami, “If he hadn’t run away, I’d still have my arm.”
Marinette grabbed the arm and stalked out of the room, limping as she left. Kagami was left in a shocked silence, before she sighed and started to look up Marinette on the various news sites.
SYBG
Marinette slumped against the wall of the elevator, her arm still in her hand. She needed to find someone to help her put it back on. Marinette hadn’t been transformed when Hawkmoth took her arm and lower right leg off, there were times when she would close her eyes and find herself back at eighteen years old with Hawkmoth gripping her arm and tearing it from her shoulder and his sword cutting through her shin.
Max had made the arm and leg a year later, after Marinette had complained about her then-current prosthetic only being for show. Marinette walked out into the lobby, before Chloe forced her into a chair.
“How do you keep doing this to yourself?” Demanded Chloe, as she reattached the arm to Marinette.
“I got into an argument with Kagami and took it off.” Said Marinette, as she rotated the appendage.
“I meant not sleeping.” Said Chloe, as Adrien and Kagami entered the lobby.
“Chloe,” Sighed Marinette, frowning, “You know why, sleeping pills don’t work, I can’t sleep for more than ten minutes at a time and working is the only thing that I can do for my body to force me to sleep.”
“You have insomnia?” Asked Adrien, as Kagami looked at the screen on her phone.
Marinette looked up at the pair, freezing when she saw Hugo on Adrien’s shoulders.
“Insomnia is putting it lightly.” Said Chloe, turning to face him, “She’s been like this ever since Gabriel ripped her arm off and bisected her leg.”
“When did that happen?” Asked Adrien, looking at Marinette, concerned and horrified.
“Four years ago.” Said Kagami, showing Adrien the screen of her phone.
Adrien skimmed through the article, going green and then going pale.
“The ridiculous thing is, Gabriel’s trial is still on going,” Said Chloe, scowling, “Lila’s been admitted to an asylum and Nathalie’s still in a coma and what other accomplices he had are still being hunted.”
Adrien nodded, before looking at Marinette, “I, er, know this is kinda a bad time, but Kagami and I were going to be moving into an apartment and, the thing is, it’s actually very big and we thought you and Hugo could move in with us.”
Marinette stared up at him, as Kagami tensed and waited for her to start yelling.
“There’s a people limit, isn’t there?” Said Marinette, frowning.
“No, he doesn’t trust Hawkmoth’s son and his partner.” Said Adrien, wringing his hands, “It has a studio in it.”
Marinette frowned before looking up at them, “Alright, since I can’t live in a hotel for the rest of my life.”
Chloe threw Marinette a filthy look.
SYBG
Marinette looked around the apartment, which was actually a three-story house, silently noting that it was sizable, and Adrien had somehow managed to get into Hugo’s good books, the day had been spent moving various belongings out of storage and into the apartment. Marinette didn’t want to admit it, but she was glad that Adrien and Kagami came back, if only for the fact that Hugo had his own room again. Hugo gripped his teddy close to him and sucked his thumb while he slept.
Marinette dropped onto the sofa and tucked her feet under herself. Marinette rubbed the makeup that covered her sleeping bags off her face. Marinette felt Adrien and Kagami sit either side of her, before she could say anything, Adrien pulled her towards him and rested her head on his chest.
“I’m so sorry.” Whispered Adrien, as Marinette listen to his heartbeat, “I shouldn’t’ve left.”
“It’s fine.” Yawned Marinette, her eyes drifting closed.
“No, it’s not.” Said Adrien, before a snore cut him off.
“Has she…?” Asked Kagami, looking at Marinette.
“I think we can pat ourselves on the back.” Said Adrien, as he got comfortable.
SYBG
Marinette woke up on a warm pillow and blanket, it wasn’t until she adjusted herself did, she realise that what she was sleeping and what was cover her weren’t warm objects. Marinette looked at the clock, freezing when she saw she’d slept a full 12 hours and Hugo was sitting in front of the television watching cartoons.
There was a light whirring sound from Marinette’s leg, telling her it was running low on charge, with her arm doing the same. Marinette sat up, Kagami sliding off her and both her and Adrien waking up as Marinette limped her way over to the charging docks for her limbs. Marinette was glad to have had the foresight to unpack the chargers before she fell asleep. The arm and leg detached from her body as they were clamped into the charging docks. Marinette hopped over to a nearby chair, before catching sight of Adrien and Kagami staring at her from across the room.
“I know what you’re thinking, so you might as well say it.” Said Marinette, shifting uncomfortably as her phantom limbs set in, “I’m hideous, the last thing anyone wants to see first thing in the morning.”
“We weren’t thinking that.” Said Kagami, getting up and stretching.
Marinette was silent, “Well, at least there are some people who don’t think like Isaac.”
Adrien spotted Marinette wiggling her fingers and toes, as if to distract herself from something, “Are you alright?”
Marinette jerked at the question, “What? Oh, yeah, I’m fine. I’m just distracting myself from my ghosts.”
“Ghosts?” Asked Adrien, frowning, “What ghosts?”
“Her arm and leg, Adrien.” Said Kagami, as Hugo looked at the pair inquisitively, “What?”
Hugo continued to stare at Kagami and Adrien, before there was a frantic knocking at the door.
“Don’t move.” Said Kagami, as she went to answer it.
“So, what do you like at school?” Asked Adrien, as Kagami walked off and Marinette shuffled over.
“Science.” Said Hugo, shortly, frowning at Adrien, “Why does your hair look like bananas?”
“Hugo.” Reprimanded Marinette, getting the boy to look at her, “Be nice.”
“But his hair looks like bananas.” Said Hugo, petulantly.
Marinette frowned, unable to argue the point.
“It’s so I don’t get hungry in the night.” Said Adrien, getting Hugo to look at him.
“But none of your hair is missing.” Said Hugo, tilting his head, “Is your hair actually made of bananas?”
Kagami re-entered the room, Alya trailing behind her.
“Luka and the band have just flown back in, Juleka’s been transferred to Jeanne D’Arc General.” Said Alya, gasping for breath, “You could’ve told me you moved.”
Marinette frowned, before looking at her limbs, which were nowhere near charged, and back at Alya, “I need you to get my leg, arm and cane.”
SYBG
Marinette limped into the hospital waiting area, looking around for Luka, she spotted him next to the coffee machine.
“We came as soon as we could.” Said Alya, as Marinette was trailing behind them, Hugo already curled up on Luka’s lap.
“Did they say what’s wrong with her?” Asked Marinette, leaning against her cane.
“No, what happened?” Responded Luka, frowning at the cane, “You hate using that thing.”
“My arm and leg ran out of charge, now budge up, my arm hurts.” Said Marinette, getting Luka to shift to the side, “Adrien and Kagami came back, I’ve finally moved out of the hotel, Papa’s taking the week off with Bernadette taking over while he’s gone, and Sabrina made detective.”
Luka mulled over the information, before Hugo tugged on his shirt, “Banana man is stinky.”
“Banana man?” Asked Luka, frowning.
“Adrien.” Said Marinette, as she adjusted her leg, “I’ve moved in with him and Kagami since I’ve been in need to an actual home and not a hotel room.”
“You could’ve stayed on the liberty.” Said Luka, as Marinette grimaced.
“With my sense of balance?” Asked Marinette, before her phone buzzed. She looked down at the screen a scowled, before turning it off.
“Who’s that?” Asked Luka, as Marinette glared at the ceiling.
“Isaac has been in contact incessantly for the past few months,” Said Marinette, as Adrien looked around the waiting room, Hugo getting off of Luka’s lap to follow the ‘banana man’, “He finally caught wind of my ‘status’ as Ladybug and, at first, he wanted to get back together, which didn’t happen, now he wants sole and absolute custody of Hugo.”
“You’re worried about a repeat of the Thomas incident?” Asked Luka, making Marinette flinch, “He’s still with your father, isn’t he?”
Thomas was Marinette eldest child and was currently lived with Tom until Marinette moved out of the Hotel. Thomas was scared of heights, to the extent where he’d completely freeze, and Marinette’s previous room in the hotel had windows that showed off how high up the room was. Ethan, Thomas’s father, wasn’t the type of person someone would want to have children with, it was actually thanks to Luka that Marinette was no longer with him.
“The new place has three floors,” Said Marinette, looking at her leg, “a bit like the Bakery, so Thomas shouldn’t have a problem with it.”
“I take it your dad is bringing Thomas over to that place later, then.” Said Luka, spotting Adrien watching Hugo play with some Lego, the blond man stopping Hugo from putting the Lego piece in his mouth, “Hugo’s taken to Adrien.”
“Yeah, I don’t know what he’s done.” Said Marinette, as Hugo went to put another Lego piece in his mouth, making Adrien stop him again.
“While it’s nice that you’re here,” Said Luka, looking at Marinette, “I think you should go, I doubt Juleka’s condition is going to change in the next few hours.”
Marinette frowned, before nodding, “Hugo, come on, we’re going home.”
Hugo looked at the Lego, before jumping up, leaving Adrien to put the pieces of plastic back on the table Hugo had taken them from. Luka watched the three leave, before looking down at his phone.
L: Rose, Juleka’s in hospital
L: We’re heading back to Paris, they’re going to be treating Juleka there
L: We’re in Paris
L: Rose, where are you?
L: Juleka died before she got to Paris, we’ll tell you when the funeral is
SYBG
Marinette frowned as Hugo pushed a toy car around the carpet, Thomas had brought the car with him, the four-year-old was sitting in the corner drawing his latest ‘masterpiece’, out of the two, Thomas was mostly silent, only speaking when he was showing his mother his drawings.
Marinette paused when she heard a knock on the front door.
“No one’s expecting any visitors, are they?” Asked Marinette, getting to her feet, just as her prosthetics alerted her that they’d finished charging. Marinette hobbled over to them and removed the older limbs and reattached the bionic ones.
“Unless my mother’s sent someone to find me, no, I’m not expecting anyone.” Said Kagami, heading for the door.
Marinette felt a tug on her trousers, making her look down and be presented with Thomas’s drawing. It was seven stick figures and a house, each one was labelled, Hugo, Maman, Papa, Da, Ma, Granddad.
“Thomas,” Asked Marinette, crouching down to look at him, “This is wonderful, can you tell me who’s who?”
Thomas nodded, before pointing at the taller of the two smaller stick figures, “That’s me,” he then pointed at the shorter of the two, “That’s Hugo,” he pointed at the stick figure with pigtails, “That’s you,” he then pointed at the one labelled at ‘Ma’, “That’s Miss Kagami,” He pointed at the one labelled ‘Da’ “That’s Mr Luka,” he pointed at the one labelled ‘Papa’, “That’s Mr Adrien,” Thomas then pointed at the biggest stick figure, “That’s Granddad.”
Marinette froze, unsure how to react with what he called Adrien, Luka and Kagami.
“Can I show them my drawing Maman?” Asked Thomas, looking up at Marinette, “Please?”
Before Marinette could respond, Adrien looked over her shoulder, “That’s great, who’s in it?”
Thomas grinned and set out explaining who was who in the picture, just as Kagami entered the room, with Luka behind her. Kagami jerked her head to the kitchen, prompting Marinette to leave Thomas with Adrien and head into the kitchen, where she was joined by Kagami and Luka.
“I didn’t tell you something earlier,” Said Luka, Marinette noticed his eyes were red, “Juleka died before she reached the hospital.”
Luka swallowed, making Marinette pulled him close to her. Luka broke down, while Marinette held him, “T-they said t-that the bleeding was caused by tumours.”
Marinette felt her eyes start burning, “H-has everyone been informed?”
“E-everyone except Rose,” Sniffed Luka, wiping his eyes, “No one’s been able to raise her.”
Marinette frowned, before fishing her phone out of her pocket, before she had a chance to turn it on, it buzzed as a news article was suggested to her. The headline made Marinette’s insides freeze.
Lead Singer of Kitty Section found dead
“I think I’ve found Rose.” Said Marinette, showing Luka the headline.
SYBG
Marinette frowned as she went through the article announcing Rose’s death, it’d apparently occurred from unknown circumstances. Chloe had arranged for Rose’s body to be brought back to France, while Luka dealt with arranging Juleka’s funeral.
After Luka had broken the news to Marinette, and after Marinette told him that Rose had been found dead, Thomas had wandered into the kitchen, drawing in hand, and asked if ‘Da’ could see his drawing.
Luka took the title well, even joking around that Thomas wanted him, Adrien and Kagami to stay, which the child loudly agreed to.
Marinette quickly put both Thomas and Hugo to bed, before sitting with the other adults, an awkward silence hanging in the air.
“I’ll go make some coffee.” Marinette suddenly jumped up, only to stumble and fall on her face and her leg came off, “Fuck!”
Luka stepped over Marinette and hooked his arms under her armpits and hauled her to her feet.
“Thank you, Luka.” Gasped Marinette, as she tried to hop to the kitchen.
“I’ll make the coffee; you need to pull yourself together.” Said Luka, gesturing to Marinette’s fallen leg.
Marinette glared at him, before hopping over to the sofa and pulling her leg towards her. She carefully lined the leg up with the socket attached to her stump. The woman grumbled as the limb sporadically jerked as she tried to reattach it. Adrien sighed, before kneeling down and stilling the limb, allowing Marinette to successfully reattach it.
“Does it always do that?” Asked Kagami, as Adrien got up from the floor.
“No, only when it’s overcharged.” Responded Marinette, as she carefully stood up, “Max said he was going to fix the issue next week, he’s making a replacement arm for me.”
“What’s wrong with that one?” Questioned Kagami, gesturing to Marinette’s current bionic arm.
“The touch sensors don’t work, haven’t since I took a dive into the Seine, Max had been fixing the water issue.” Replied Marinette, looking at the hand, “Part of me wonders how long it’ll be before I’m no more than a Frankenstein’s Monster instead of a human.”
“That would be never.” Stated Kagami, matter-of-factly.
Marinette just huffed, obviously not agreeing with Kagami.
“Marinette, you shouldn’t let what Isaac and Ethan said about you.” Luka called from the kitchen.
Marinette rolled her eyes, before fiddling with her thumb.
“The guys you dated compared you to Frankenstein’s monster?” Gaped Adrien, while Kagami narrowed her eyes.
“They just stated the facts.” Dismissed Marinette, before changing the subject, “Look, about Thomas calling you and Kagami Mama and Dad, I’ll try and get him to stop.”
“I don’t mind.” Said Adrien, making Marinette freeze.
The mixed-race woman swallowed thickly.
“T-that’s not the point,” Said Marinette, trying to shake the shock off, “Thomas can’t go around calling people, who aren’t in a relationship with his mother, mama or papa.”
Adrien stood up and sat down next to Marinette, he gently grabbed her chin and pressed his lips to hers.
When they broke apart, Marinette let out a small, “Oh.” Before dropping in a dead faint.
SYBG
The following morning, Marinette was skittish around Adrien, Luka and Kagami. Adrien looked down at his coffee, before clearing his throat, “I’ve been meaning to ask, how old are the boys?”
Marinette jumped slightly, before looking at Adrien, “Thomas is four and a half and Hugo is three. I had Thomas shortly after I got involved with Isaac and, not even a year later, I had Hugo after Isaac walked out because he didn’t want to be around a baby that he’d ‘have to care for’.”
“But you had Thomas while you were seeing him.” Said Adrien, frowning.
“Yeah, and throughout that relationship, he didn’t help once and kept telling me to put him up for adoption.” Explained Marinette, “I was still seeing Isaac when Hawkmoth was defeated, although he’d already started his process of walking out and then crawling back.”
Marinette gave a small laugh, “I actually found out that I was pregnant with Hugo after Hawkmoth cut off my leg and arm.” The smile that was one Marinette’s face suddenly vanished, “That was the first time Isaac called me a monster, because of my prosthetics. Oh, you should’ve seen the look on his face when Nino and Kim threatened to kill him.”
Adrien let out a laugh, before pulling Marinette close to him. Marinette stiffened slightly when her nose bumped into his shoulder. Taking a deep breath, Marinette leaned into Adrien’s embrace, the pair looked down when they felt something grip their legs. Hugo’s messy black hair was resting on Adrien’s leg, with his tiny arms gripping both Marinette and Adrien.
“He’s kind of adorable, isn’t-AGH!” Adrien let out a scream as Hugo bit his knee and ran off giggling, “He bit me!”
Marinette didn’t get a chance to respond, before Adrien took off after Hugo, picked him up and blew a raspberry on his belly. Hugo squealed and kicked his legs as Adrien tickled him.
“Papa, nooo!” Squealed Hugo, making Adrien stop.
“You know what?” Asked Adrien, looking at the toddler, “I think it’s past your bedtime.”
“But I just woke up!” Protested Hugo, as Luka carried a bleeding Thomas into the room.
Marinette did a double take at the sight of blood on Thomas’s foot, “What happened?!”
“Evidently, the previous occupant put broken glass under the carpet in what’s now Thomas’s room.” Stated Luka, setting a weeping Thomas on the counter-top and started looking for the first aid kit.
“Fourth cupboard, back of the top shelf.” Called Adrien, as Hugo squirmed in his grip.
Luka waved his hand and fished the kit from the cupboard. Marinette quietly watched as Luka, as gently as he could, pulled the glass shards out of Thomas’s foot and carefully dressed it. Luka stood back up and pulled a lolly pop from his back pocket and gave it to Thomas.
Marinette glanced around the room and frowned, “Where’s Kagami?”
SYBG
Kagami, sat across from her mother, her arms folded, and face pulled into a tight frown. Tomoe’s hands rested on her lap, before she spoke, “I understand that, when we last spoke, things got a bit… ‘heated’ between us.”
“You threatened to disown me, called Marinette a chink and said she was a bad influence.” Said Kagami, bluntly, “And now, it looks like your retracting that statement because of Marinette being Ladybug.”
Tomoe sighed, “Kagami, please, I want to have a positive relationship with you.”
“Then you’re going to have to accept my decisions.” Retorted Kagami, glaring at Tomoe.
“I may not approve of them,” Said Tomoe, slowly, “but, I cannot control your life or how you choose to live it. But, if it comes to it, I will support you.”
Kagami sat there, dumbfounded, “I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting that.”
Tomoe sighed; this was going to take a while.
SYBG
Plagg floated above Hugo, staring down at the mess of black and red hair. Thomas had taken to Sass, which Plagg took exception to. Adrien was sitting next to Marinette, the woman barely able to stay awake.
“How come she keeps falling asleep now?” Asked Luka, putting his coffee down.
“A side effect of the Miraculous,” Dismissed Plagg, “usually, if Tikki and me are both active at the same time, we’d usually keep our holders awake so they’d ready to help each other.”
“But she barely slept, and Adrien doesn’t look like he’s had insomnia.”
“Because he had Longg with him,” shrugged Plagg, while Tikki sat on Marinette’s shoulder, “being close to another Kwami would help balance things out.”
“But Marinette had the rest of the box.” Murmured Adrien, getting a wince from Luka.
“Oh, you don’t know about the Monarch incident, do you?”
Adrien gave Luka a blank look.
“Your Dad, with the help of your cousin, managed to get all the Miraculous and, basically,” Said Luka, “went on a killing spree. They’re still identifying his victims; some powers are demanding his extradition. The States want him on a murder charge, fully intending on convicting him in Wyoming or another state that has the death penalty.”
“So, how did Marinette get them back?” Asked Adrien.
“Adrien,” Sighed Luka, leaning forwards, “please, you need to know somethings before you’re told how she got them back.”
“Okay.”
“You remember the Zoe was Versperia?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, a couple of months after the whole Monarch incident, Zoe took her own life.” Said Luka, making Adrien jump.
“What?”
“Something about holding herself responsible for the incident,” Muttered Luka, “which was wrong, she was in no way to blame for it. You see, Zoe suggested Felix to Ladybug and then Felix betrayed us and all that bullshit.”
Adrien stared at Luka, before Marinette sat up.
“Wha’ goin’ on?” Slurred Marinette, pitching forwards slightly.
“I’m bringing Adrien up to speed with the last eight years.” Responded Luka, at Thomas ran into the room with blood coming out of his mouth.
“Maman, maman, look!” Grinned Thomas, a gap in his teeth presented to them, “I lost a tooth!”
Marinette stared at the boy and his tooth, before jumping to her feet, picking him up and swinging him around, “Well, I think we both know what that means.”
Marinette smiled down at Thomas, who was now resting on her hip.
“Sweets!”
“A visit from the Tooth Fairy!”
Marinette and Thomas looked at each other.
“Thomas, did you just say sweets?” Asked Marinette, tilting her head.
Thomas grinned and nodded vigorously, “More sweets, more money!”
Marinette stared at Thomas, before slowly turning her head to look at Luka, “Did you tell him this?”
Luka shook his head, while Hugo tried to climb onto the sofa. Marinette went back to looking at Thomas, before noticing the blood in his mouth, “Oh, my God!”
Marinette, carrying Thomas, ran to the bathroom, grabbed some cotton buds and quickly placed them in the gap where his tooth used to be.
Adrien stared after her, before looking at Luka, “What was that about?”
“Ethan was a haemophiliac, as far as we can tell, Thomas isn’t,” Shrugged Luka, “but you know Marinette, constantly worrying.”
Adrien nodded, as Marinette returned with her eldest.
SYBG
Adrien quietly stared at the ceiling, waiting for the guard to arrive with Gabriel.
“Adrien?”
Adrien looked down and scowled at the sight of Gabriel. His hair was dishevelled and greasy, his face was shallow, waxy and yellow.
“How the fuck did you get jaundice?”
“The Miraculous-”
“Using the Miraculous gave you tumours?”
Gabriel was silent, “I need you to continue my work.”
“Why should I?” Demanded Adrien, glaring at him, “You’ve never been there for me in my life, and when I left you kept a note I’d made from my friends, and, to top it all off, you tried to kill one of my friends because she fought against you.”
“I need them to resurrect your mother,” Gasped Gabriel, lurching forwards, “I don’t know where Chat Noir’s gone, but that mongrel-”
Adrien’s fist shot out and collided with Gabriel’s nose, “Refer to My Lady as a mongrel again and I won’t limit myself to one punch.”
Gabriel stared up at Adrien, before the words clicked in his mind, “You, you’re Chat Noir.”
Adrien glared down at Gabriel, before turning on his heel and stalking out of the room. Gabriel watched his son’s retreating back, silent as the last part of Emilie he had walked away.
SYBG
“Boom!” Yelled Hugo, waving a toy plane around and making it crash of the floor.
Marinette was dozing on the sofa, while Luka, Kagami and Adrien watched the boys. Adrien flipped through a book, unable to concentrate.
“Monarch’s been extradited today,” Said Kagami, quietly, “with his actions, they’ve opted to give him a military trial.”
“Good for him.” Scowled Adrien, as Thomas came up to him.
“Papa, Da, Ma, where do babies come from?”
The three awake adults stared at him.
“We’ll tell you when you’re old enough.” Said Luka, ruffling his hair, “Anyway, it’s late and you two have school in the morning.”
Thomas and Hugo whined but didn’t fight Adrien and Luka when they picked them up. Kagami was left alone with Marinette. She scooted over and gently wrapped herself around Marinette. She and Adrien had missed a lot since they’d been gone, and she wasn’t intending on missing anymore.

Family, Suspicions, Rage and Plans
A Phantom adopted, Chapter 2, ao3
Team Phantom and the Lumano Clan discuss, separately this time.
Jasmine Fenton was a good person, as many people would agree, and as such did not deserve to be startled by gremlin-like little brothers phasing their heads through her walls.   Thankfully she had only one of those, and so her startle was only a tiny bit, followed by a scowl.
“Danny!  Can’t you knock?”
Danny laughed, falling into her bedroom with each breath, and flopped onto the floor.  Jazz rolled her eyes and nudged him onto his back with her foot.
“Ok, sorry, you’re right.  I finally got you though!”
“Ah yes, a jumpscare, truly the height of being frightening.  Was there something you wanted to talk about, Danny, or was this just to tell your friends you managed to scare a single person in your whole life?”
Danny clutched his heart and curled up with a few more laughs and Jazz smiled.
“Oof, friendly fire there.  Yeah, big news actually and we felt like you should probably be filled in cause you’re smart and all that.”
Danny picked himself up by floating until he could get his legs under himself and Jazz couldn’t help the fuzzy warmth in her chest, knowing he trusted her enough now to use his powers so freely in her presence.  It wasn’t too long ago that Danny would overact normalcy around her the same that he did for their parents, and while Jazz had been determined to wait that period out, it still hurt to be put in the same boat as them.
“Ok, I assume Sam and Tucker are in your room and I’m not letting Sam and her nature-covered boots all over my nice clean floor.”
Danny pointedly looked down at papers strewn about near her desk and Jazz turned him around by the shoulders.
“My floor is without dirt upon it, Danny, I’ll not have your friends change that just because Sam feels the need to rebel against her parents when they aren’t even here.”
“Gosh, tell me what you really feel.”
“Ah, but this is about your big news, not views I have the good manners to keep quiet about little brother.”
Once they were in Danny’s room, door closed firmly, Jazz took a seat on the bed next to Danny, with Tucker on his other side and Sam in the spinning desk chair.
“Ok, so what happened today that I need to know?”
“Well,” Sam said, fingers steepled in a triangle like some rich supervillain.  “Today we met a ghost who was appalled at the treatment other ghosts give Danny and decided to purge them all.”
“He specifically swore not to slaughter them all, Sam,” Danny all but pleaded.  “Maybe his magic binds him to his word?”
“Dude, he said, and I quote,” Tucker said, pulling up his PDA to read from, “’I promise not to slaughter all of the ghosts you inform me of that have hurt you in the past few months.’  There’s so many loopholes in that.”
“But the spirit of the deal-“
“Isn’t the deal, Danny.”
Jazz shrugged when Danny turned a betrayed look her way.
“Sorry, that left way too many openings.  I’m not sure a ghost can truly be destroyed anyway, though, so do you really need to worry about that?”
“Besides, he promised you and Sam that, dude, I gave him the list.”
Tucker laughed as he was shoved nearly off the bed and shook his head.
“I’ve got to say, that’s suspiciously serendipitous, Danny.”
Jazz leaned back, crossing her legs and drumming her fingers against her arm.
“What does he get out of swooping in and dealing with all of your enemies for you?  You might’ve given him a list of allies to rally together into an organized force to attack you with.”
“He’s a liminal like me, for one thing.”
Danny grinned and Jazz’s eyes widened slowly.
“He said that Danny’s basically a toddler in ghost years and so he’s just absolutely horrified that he’s being basically hunted down for brawls by adult ghosts.”
Sam caught the pillow that Danny threw at her, and Jazz just barely managed to dodge it herself when Danny phased through the return throw.
“He put on the kind of fake cheery tone that you only hear from someone ready to explode, and his wings lit up again.”
“Ok, Tucker, wait.  Start from the beginning, please.” #
Valdan watched Toby burn his way across a massive purple rock floating in the void, slashing it apart with his claws and smashing it to bits with hooves, tails, and all manner of weaponry gifted by nature to its beasts.  Even upon reaching the coveted arch-druid status, Valdan had rarely seen him act like this.
He couldn’t blame him, of course.  The ectoplasm around him buzzed with the whisper of notes to a war song that could bring down fortresses and rally armies out of civilians.  He balanced a knife on his finger, daring the tip to pierce him, and watched the flames dance off the blade.
A warm hand pressed against his back, heat pouring into muscles that relaxed like thawing ice, and Valdan hummed, leaning into Duncan at his side.
“Is everyone back, yet?  I’m not talking about this over dinner, that’s for pleasant things.”
“Well, I think Apo and Cole are back from chatting with the dragon princess, and they’re only a little charred, so I think that’s everyone.”
“Right, well, someone’s gonna have to reign in mister Wrath of Nature over there.  I’m not doin it.”
“Lazy bones,” Cole calls out as he jumps off the deck of the ship that was still taking the shape of a somewhat standard sea vessel.  Valdan can’t hear what they say to each other, doesn’t need to, but soon enough Toby is his human looking self again, and the both of them are on the deck.
It doesn’t take long to gather everyone below deck in their little meeting area, there were only 7 of them after all.  Still, Valdan paced a bit, eyes narrowed as he thought.
In a trip around the table all the weapons that could be removed had been placed in a neat pile in the corner, which did nothing to ease the tension in the room.
“Right, so.  We’ve got a handful in our lap, damn that compassion of ours.  The kids provided us with a lovely little list of problematic poltergeists that attack their little hometown.  They isolated for us three particularly bad pests but summarized only two of them.  Both of these threats need to be eliminated as soon as possible, but I imagine we’re gonna have an easier time finding one than the other two.”
“There’s also another plane-touched child that particularly needs our help and isn’t gonna get that help from anyone else on their material plane.  She’s a result of the only adult plane-touched round here being a total scum bag.”
Apogo sighed, waving a hand to make sure he had their attention.  Valdan braced himself for the speech that would come at some point in the conversation.
“Hold on now, look.  I know that whoever’s on that list needs a good ass kicking, obviously, but are we gonna go around destroying souls just like that?”
“I don’t think any of us have the magic to destroy a soul, Apo.  Well, unless the weird power boost we’ve been getting from being here between Realms has gifted me the illustrious power of eating them.  We just shoot them in the core and they’re souls floating around in the void.”
“Deprived of their senses and unable to control their movement.  I’m not saying we don’t take out the worst of them, I’m sure you’re about to tell me something irredeemable about these two ‘worst child fighters’ but maybe we should get a bit more information from them before we go on a bloody campaign?”
“Oh absolutely, just from the hilarious names given I suspect most of these people aren’t a major problem, we can handle them in an afternoon or two.  But, well, I took your weapons away cause I don’t want you to blow holes in the ship when I tell you about this Vlad Masters guy.”
“We have developed self-control, Val, what could he have done?”
Simply because he was the one to say that, Valdan kept his eyes on his brother while he relayed everything Danny told them about his clone.  He did, however, have the tact to keep a hand on one of Apogo’s shoulders through the tale.
With the powder keg of magic in the room, Valdan wondered if he should’ve had this conversation on the deck.
David drummed his clawed fingers against the table and closed his eyes.  His other hand was occupied with holding onto Leico’s, more to keep him from leaving than comfort.  Leico himself was looking rather ready to call on his precious goddess to smite the man in his stead, but Valdan knew he wouldn’t.  That would be too easy.
“So, the misery demon lady will die first, I think.  Easier target, no clean-up really needed.  While Leico and Duncan track her down, Valdan I want you to find where Vlad lives, see how easily we can turn his environment against him.  Toby, you head to the Far Frozen and see if they can help, learn some new medicine stuff even.  Cole, how do you feel about training a kid with weather powers?”
“I feel like I need to know what you plan on doing, David.  Don’t forget to let everyone else in on your master plan.”
“Oh, I’m going to learn the new technology of this place’s prime material plane, maintain our ship so it doesn’t fall apart, and prepare to commit murder.  Perhaps you and I can even go out and socialize, find some of the other ghosts on that list of Valdan’s so that we can judge them ourselves.  When we take down this Vlad Masters, we should raid his laboratory so that we have all the relevant data on Elle needed to help her.”
“Until then, how about we eat ourselves some dinner, yeah?  We’re all stressed, and acting without thinking is going to get us nowhere.  Besides, I have a feeling the kids are gonna call us again soon anyway.”
“Of course, Lei, you always make the best food to get over rage with.”
That night, while everyone else was getting much needed sleep after a patrol around the city and several smaller ghosts captured or sent on their way, Danny took to the roof of the Ops center, staring up at the stars.  He looked down at his hand, curling it into fists over and over.
“The weather, huh?  Wonder how far up that goes.”

“I can’t believe I’m telling you this.”
damon + adam please 🥺
@nemodoren here ya go bby! 💙
Tumblr media
"You never told me why a hot shot such as yourself ended up here." Adam grinned, his eyes carding over Damon while observing him finishing off the rest of the cake slices a co-worker provided.
"Well," Damon sighed, smiling for a moment before taking another mouthful. "That part was always...complicated."
"How so?" Adam canted his head curiously while he adjusted in his seat. His smile remained even as Damon gave him a stare that could intimidate most into backing away.
"Impatient much? Let me finish eating, and I'll tell you." Damon said with a huff. The tone of his voice erred on the side of teasing. After a few more bites, he licked the underside of his fork then sat the plastic silverware down. Carding his right hand through his locks, Damon furrowed his brows and sighed.
"Let's just say I find more pleasure in the trenches than I do with the top brass."
"Translation, please? I'm afraid I don't speak Boomer." Adam chuckled. His smile only grew when he saw Damon shake his head and let out a laugh.
"I may be older than you, but I'm not that dated." Damon reached for his coffee mug and took a gulp. Sitting the mug down he continued. "There was a time in my life where I was up there in terms of popularity with journalism. A bit of a celebrity. At least I had the makings of becoming one."
"What sort of stories did you go after?" Adam asked curiously.
"Nothing like what's done here, I assure you." Damon shrugged. "My work consisted of uplifting popular fashion designers. You know, the likes of Milan, Galas, that sort of thing. I wrote ass kissing articles if I'm being honest. Anyhow, it was steady work and I became well acquainted with many in the entertainment and fashion industry. I had plans of moving to LA at one point."
"Wow," Adam raised his brows, shaking his head in disbelief. "And I bet you were rolling in hundred dollar bills."
"More or less."
"Why give that up for some place like..." Adam gestured around their office space. "This."
Damon's expression shifted. His eyes looking more morose. It was in stark contrast to the slight smile that remained on his lips, still amused by Adam's questions.
"Not everyone is your friend in this field," Damon murmured. "I put my trust in the wrong people, the wrong person."
Adam hesitated before deciding to take the plunge. "Define wrong person."
"An ex," Damon nodded as if reassuring himself it was alright to speak up on the matter. "Long story short, she and I had our problems and said problems ended up entangling in our working relationship. I was more or less blacklisted."
"Oh," The pain in Damon's voice had Adam regretting having pried. He had never heard Damon sound so insecure before. It was out of character for a man of his caliber.
"I can't believe I'm telling you this." Damon laughed, shaking his head.
"I can't either if I'm being real with you." Adam smiled. "I thought I was going to have to blackmail you to get anything like that out."
Damon smirked and averted his gaze. "I'm not always a bastard. Contrary to popular belief."
"I can tell," Adam said softly.
A long pause embraced the two men as they ruminated in their own thoughts. Each of them enjoying the silence before Adam cleared his throat, breaking the trance.
"I'm glad you told me. I'll go a bit easier on you."
"So no more jokes about me having a small dick because my personality sucks?"
"Hey, I never said I was through with those."
Both Damon and Adam laughed. Each of them feeling a wave of anxiety and happiness brew in their chest.
"For what it's worth," Adam began. "It's great you're here."
"Thanks." Damon nodded. For the first time in months, he truly allowed one of Adam's compliments to settle and take root. Perhaps he could put quitting on the backburner for now.

🤝: How did they meet in the first place? What was there first impression of each other?

🕊️: Give just a general domestic tidbit for em (things they like about each other, routines, habits, and just overall sweet stuff)
For Andrei and Ray!!
oh, yay!!! thanks so much for the questions to which I'll gladly answer them!
🤝: How did they meet in the first place? What was there first impression of each other? so, the way they met is definitely an interesting one because it all has to do and revolve around death lol.
see, ray got herself into a fatal and tragic accident, one that caused her to die on the side of a road! andrei was given her case and had later inspected her body only to see that she was seemingly brought back to life but with a bit of an undead look to her. she hadn't remembered anything about her life, ever and andrei became of help and essentially retaught her the experience of life.
anywayyy, ray's first impression of andrei was that he seemed to distance himself from time to time and that he had a bad case of sleep! she wasn't wrong, she was also confused meeting him at first BUT got all smiles after learning a bit about him.
andrei's first impression of ray was that she seemed like a sweet young woman who was very passionate about the stuff she did and wanted to learn, she was whimsical! (he would later be glad to have her in his life) he was a bit confused as to HOW she was alive but glad he found her.
🗣️: Who’s the one that will ramble on about their highly specific interest while the other just sits back and nods along? ray, 100%! one HUGE interest of hers is that of medicine, learning about the human body and educating herself on the medical field as a whole. 24/7, she's usually rambling on about it without even realizing and perhaps some might assume that annoys andrei greatly but they'd be wrong, he cares about seeing how happy ray gets over something so specific like that + he gets to see her smile!
🕊️: Give just a general domestic tidbit for em (things they like about each other, routines, habits, and just overall sweet stuff) for ray, she likes how comfortable and open andrei can be around her. usually, he's one to only mention a few details here and there about something but never go beyond that however, it's different when he's around ray and she stays being in awe about it. for andrei, he likes how passionate she gets over the things she likes, loves how deeply she cares for the world around her and LOVES her laugh, he could listen to it for hours.
their routines together start off pretty similar. they'll wake up, get dressed, sometimes ray likes to know andrei's opinion on what she's wearing for the day because she loves the reactions she'll get out of him. then, they'll have their little breakfast meals (that andrei usually makes because he's the better cook in the house LMAOO, there's a reason for that okay 🤣) and chat about what they'll do the rest of the day.
if andrei has to go to work, ray will find herself walking their (undead) cat, sid or she'll whip up another page for her scrapbook. if it's nice enough out, she'll take a dip by the lake near her and andrei's house before coming back in time to see that andrei has made it home.
just a cute little domestic routine for the two!
(sry this was longer than it needed to be lol but these were fun to answer, thanks again!! 💜💜💜)

Summary: Arabella Williams is the youngest daughter of a powerful King. When a neighboring King refuses to marry her older sister, Arabella's father sends her to his Kingdom to, unknowingly, work as a spy. But what will happen when Arabella figures out her father's plans and decides to think for herself? Will she be able to stop a war from happening? Or will everything go as her father had planned? And how does the King's Military Commander fit into all of it? All Arabella knows is that she will do whatever she can to stop war from devastating both Kingdoms. But will she be able to?
Tumblr media
Prologue
She wished she still had tears to cry, but they have been long gone. Her father was still raging, even as they lowered the casket into the ground. People approached her, all telling her how sorry they were and how missed her sister will be, but all she could think was that none of these people knew the truth. As far as they knew, it was a sudden illness. Only a handful of people knew what really had happened.
Arabella Williams, or Bella as her mother used to call her, was now the only remaining daughter of King Logan Williams, ruler of the Ethil Kingdom, outliving her older sister, Kimberly. As much as Bella loved her sister, having grown closer after their mother’s passing, she would be the first to admit that Kimberly was just as much to blame for her own death as was the sickness that took hold of her.
Bella took one last look at her sister’s casket before turning and heading back to the Castle. She could hear her father up ahead, still blaming a neighboring King for Kimberly’s death. Her sister had fallen madly in love with him, and their father did all he could to make a marriage agreement happen that would see Kimberly getting married to the King.
What neither her father nor Kimberly had been expecting was that the King would flat out refuse to marry someone he didn’t love, or even really knew, just to secure some alliance that her father was offering as an incentive to bind together the two Kingdoms.
The refusal had been enough for Kimberly to fall into a deep depression, eating the bare minimum and spending most of her time in the Castle’s gardens. Bella always knew where to find Kimberly, it didn’t matter if it was cold or raining, her sister would always be in the garden.
It didn’t take long for Kimberly to become sick and, by the time she allowed one of the Royal Healers to see her, it was too late. A few days later and Kimberly was dead, sending their father into a rage like Bella had never seen.
Even now, a few months later, her father still blames the King for Kimberly’s death, no matter what anyone tells him. As far as her father is concerned, Kimberly died of a broken heart, not of the sickness that took hold of her and didn’t let go until it was too late.
Bella remembers the last few months with a clarity that she shouldn’t have, not with everything that happened, and she knows that something isn’t right. Her father came to her, the day before, and told her that he was sending her to the King’s Court as an envoy of goodwill, to show the King that there’s no ill will between them, his demeanor even colder and more distant than usual.
However, this didn’t sit well with Bella, who knows just how much her father hates that King for what happened. Then he told her that he wanted her to find information on the King and the Lords that are closest to him, and send it back to him.
When Bella asked him why, he told her it was to help him plan an alliance that suited both Kingdoms’ needs the best, and that didn’t included a marriage to secure the alliance. Bella has to admit, it wasn’t so much what he had said, but how he had said it that made her question her father’s real intentions.
Bella climbs into the carriage that will take her to a new Court and Kingdom, wondering if maybe she can change the path that her father has decided to stay on. A path that will, undoubtedly, only end in misery.

Xain wondered into the penthouse; brow furrowed deeply as he stared at his cell phone all things that didn’t escape Calus’s attention from the kitchen.
“Everything alright?” Calus wondered, casually pouring himself a pop from the fridge.
“Huh? Oh, hi Calus…um…I’m not sure,” Xain admitted, moving his phone from in front of his face to look at Calus.
“What do you mean?” Calus prompted, turning to lean against the counter with his glass in hand.
“Well, I’ve been trying to get a hold of Chaz for a while now but he’s not answering,” Xain briefly explained.
“Humph, odd…you think he’s in trouble?” Calus asked, taking a sip of his drink.
“Maybe...” Xain tried to hide how he was feeling however his tone swiftly betrayed him.
“Let me rephrase, are you worried he’s in trouble?” Calus corrected with a knowing smirk.
“Mm, yeah….” Xain admitted, lowering his head a bit.
“Alright, where was he last?” Calus asked.
“He was living out of his car on the east side of Imp City trying to get enough money to afford a place last I checked,” Xain explained.
“Okay, it’s a good start. I’ll get Striker to meet us there,” Calus assured Xain who responded with a warm smile of gratitude.
 …
A short time later the trio showed up at Chaz’s car which was parked in an abandoned lot on the far east side of Imp City. Striker had arrived before Xain and Calus, picked the lock and was already snooping around inside the vehicle only to emerge with a grimace of disgust on his face.
“Find anything?” Calus curiously asked with a light chuckle at Striker’s disgusted look not to mention he was brushing dirt from his clothing.
“Nothin’ of interest…just some empty take-out containers, used condoms and empty vape pen cartridges,” Striker groused gesturing to some of the aforementioned items that had fallen from Chaz’s car to the ground.
“Really?” Xain questioned, expression turning instantly to concerned confusion.
“Yeah, sorry kid. Looks like he hasn’t been here for a couple days either,” Striker apologized sincerely.
“How do you know that?” Xain wondered.
“Looks like Chaz shoves the latest of his trash onto the passenger seat before moving it to the back…trash in the passenger seat is about 3 to 4 days old by the look,” Striker informed gesturing into the vehicle at the garbage.
“I don’t understand…he doesn’t go many places…” Xain trailed off.
“Hey! Did you notice this?” Calus called from the back of Chaz’s car, gesturing to the one corner.
“What?” Striker inquired as Xain and him headed towards Calus.
“That’s a bullet hole,” Calus pointed to a hole in Chaz’s trunk then looked to Xain with a look that clearly was asking ‘was that there before’? Striker looked along the car’s side now noticing a ricochet mark on the driver side door he dropped to his knees to look under the car revealing several wires were hanging down that had been cut.
“They cut the lines, he wasn’t goin’ anywhere,” Striker revealed getting back up.
“Pictures pretty clear now,” Calus stated with a nod to Striker.
“Crimsons got him…doesn’t he?” Xain asked although he already knew the answer.
“Looks like they caught up to him,” Calus confirmed.
“Shit, well…what do we do?” Xain cursed starting to feel his chest tighten.
“We’ll get him back, chances are he’s been taken back to Greed, Crimson wouldn’t dare try anything in Imp City on Goetia territory,” Calus reassured Xain.
“Then let’s get going! Who knows what they’ve done to him by now,” Xain insisted.
Calus knew trying to convince Xain to stay behind by this point would be pointless thus he didn’t even argue.
 …
Once in Greed Calus luckily had contacts and lots of them allowing for a swift sweep of the ring that quickly turned up gold as it were. Chaz had been taken to the docks area where he’d last been seen being loaded into one of the boat sheds although the contact couldn’t provide details on his condition nor why he was being held there however the last part didn’t take a brain surgeon to figure out considering Crimson liked dumping bodies in the lake. The trio made their way to the boat shed in question with the hopes Chaz was still breathing once more they got lucky in there was only two guards stationed out front unfortunately this didn’t bod well for Chaz’s condition. Regardless Calus had Striker stay with Xain behind another building as he simply walked blatantly up to the two sharks guarding the door who immediately brandished their pistols at him, demanding a name as well as a reason he was there. Smirking Calus swung his long muscular tail at the one effectively impaling them on his spines at the end before slinking up behind the second whose neck he promptly snapped with ease, body slumping to the ground while Calus wrenched his tail from the other with a flick to clear the blood off it. Striker chuckled as he walked with Xain over to Calus clearly having enjoyed the show.
“Show off,” Striker commented walking past the Dracony into the boat shed earning him a brief smirk from Calus.
“Chaz?” Xain called into the inky darkness of the boat shed while Calus felt the wall for a light switch.
“I can’t see dick in this place,” Striker groused opting to stand still till Calus could find the light.
“I think I found the switch,” Calus revealed.
A click radiated through the shed as light illuminated it moments later and what was revealed made Xain pale with the urge to throw up. Chaz was in the shed…tied to the counter at the far end normally reserved for flaying a fresh catch with his blood flowing in rivulets over its sides…to say the least Chaz wasn’t in good shape. Pushing past Xain’s stunned form Calus and Striker got to Chaz’s side with Striker immediately searching for a pulse while Calus cut the ropes holding Chaz’s wrists and ankles.
“He’s alive,” Striker declared upon finding a faint pulse.
“Holy fuck, alright, we gotta work fast,” Calus retorted, eyes darting around the room in search of anything he could use to staunch Chaz’s bleeding.
Spotting a bucket of old rags Calus snatched it up, passing a couple to Striker as the two of them assessed Chaz’s injuries. Chaz had been stabbed multiple times in various places then had the injuries crudely stitched back up, he also had what was undoubtably cigar burns all over him particularly on his gills, bruises were something else that littered his body indicating he’d been beaten multiple times and the worst injury was a gash on the side of his face that went exceptionally deep. Striker tried to press one of the rags to the gash however he didn’t really have a way to secure it there, both he and Calus wondered what the wound was from or for…until that is they saw a plaque set off to the side that had Chaz’s name on a bronze plate. Calus concluded they’d started removing Chaz’s jaws when something made them stop, that’s what the gash was from.
“H-He’s going to be okay…right?” Xain asked finally snapping from his stupor.
“Don’t know kid, we gotta get him outta here though,” Striker answered over his shoulder.
“Yeah, we gotta go,” Calus agreed, scooping Chaz off the counter bridal style promptly eliciting the first sign of life from the shark as he released a quiet agonized whimper.
“Stay with us kiddo,” Striker encouraged as he pulled out his cell phone.
“Where are we gonna go? He can’t go to a hospital they’ll find him,” Xain worriedly wondered.
“Don’t worry we got some place in mind,” Striker assured Xain, putting his phone to his ear.
Striker swiftly explained their situation to whomever was on the other side then hung up, moments later a portal with an illuminated purple outline appeared in the room. Calus hurried through first with Chaz in his arms as Striker followed suit along with Xain who was still uncertain what to do with himself. Xain was shocked to see Stolas waiting in a stark white room, gesturing to a large marble table in the centre that Calus rushed over to, immediately placing Chaz onto its surface. Stolas joined Calus once he closed the portal behind Xain followed by Striker although Xain simply remained where he was concern heavy in his chest, yet he didn’t want to get in the way. Stolas went to the wall of cabinets, cupboards, and drawers to gather supplies from them while Striker helped Calus strip Chaz of his torn, bloody clothing allowing for a better view of his injuries unfortunately this revealed more. Chaz’s right arm was badly broken with the bone sticking from the forearm and there was evidence he had more broken bones under the surface perhaps the cause of some of the bruising. Striker gently grabbed Chaz’s broken forearm giving it a few light prods before concluding there was only one way to do this, grabbing the lower portion he gave a swift firm yank then pressed the bone back under the skin. Chaz’s entire body jerked violently with a quiet whimpering sound as Calus held the shark down till Striker was finished, moving to the gash on Chaz’s face.
Stolas came along side the table with a cart that carried various items on its surface including stitching material. Calus firmly yet gently held Chaz’s head to the side as Stolas removed the blood-soaked rag from the gash, replacing it promptly with a clean one that had been soaked in warm water. Striker started cleaning Chaz’s other injuries while Calus and Stolas worked to clean the gash on his face although he had to hold Chaz steady when they poured alcohol over the gash to cleanse it as the shark demon jerked again except this time, he released a full out scream of pain. Stolas moved on to stitching the deep gash as best he could before moving on to bandage his broken arm while Calus helped Striker stitch as well as bandage Chaz’s other injuries discovering in the process he had 4 broken ribs, a broken tibia, and a broken wrist on the opposite side. Calus was just finishing up treating a nasty stab wound to Chaz’s left hip area when he glanced along the shark’s side to discover the gills on his left side had been pinned shut using fishhooks. Wincing for a moment Calus gingerly started removing the fishhooks, this was one of the worst revenge torture jobs he’d seen in a long time.
Xain watched for a long time until Chaz’s pained whimpers and cries overwhelmed him. Xain left the room to wander aimlessly through the Goetia palace, Chaz was only supposed to be a good fuck buddy…so then what was this feeling? Why did seeing Chaz hurt, hearing him scream in pain make Xain’s heart hurt? After what felt like an eternity Xain found himself in some random hallway just staring out the large windows seriously contemplating his life choices at this point when Calus came up behind him making the hybrid demon jump a little.
“I was looking for you,” Calus stated in a gentle tone.
“Sorry…I, I couldn’t stay there…” Xain trailed off looking at the floor.
“No need to apologize. Believe it or not I get it.” Calus stated moving to lean against the wall between the windows.
“There’s nothing to get! Or…there shouldn’t be,” Xain barked unintentionally quickly pulling back his tone.
“Would you believe me, and Striker used to be the same?” Calus asked with a light chuckle.
“What? How?” Xain asked in shocked surprise.
“Neither one of us wanted anything more then a good bed partner, the fact we could work together as assassins was just bonus…but that changed…I don’t think either of us even know when it happened,” Calus explained.
“Really? Hmm…” Xain trailed off again, thoughts reeling in his brain.
“Yep, anyway I came to tell you that Chaz is in critical yet stable condition down in the infirmary. We decided to leave him on the treatment table for the moment till he can heal a bit before moving him,” Calus explained pushing off the wall.
“Alright…thanks,” Xain retorted quietly.
Calus left Xain to his own devices opting to join Striker in one of the guest bedrooms of the palace for a brief rest before needing to check up on Chaz’s condition. Xain didn’t rush down to see Chaz instead he continued to just gaze out the window of that hallway partially thinking over everything and partially fearing what he might see when returning to the infirmary. Inevitably Xain made his way down into the depths of the palace, pushing open the large double doors that led into the infirmary instantly seeing Chaz ahead in the middle of the room atop the treatment table. Oddly enough Chaz didn’t look as off putting as Xain had anticipated sure he was covered in bandages some of which had blood stains on them, and Stolas had started an IV to supply fluids to Chaz’s body, but other then that it wasn’t as hard to look at him as Xain thought. Xain grimaced at the massive, stitched gash on Chaz’s face that now was swollen with bruising around the edges making it look horrendous. Xain was just starting to take in everything when Striker strode in, jacket and hat missing from his usual attire, sleeves rolled up on his black long-sleeved shirt.
“How Ya doin’ kid?” Striker asked Xain as he walked over to check on Chaz.
“I’m fine,” Xain flatly answered returning his gaze to Chaz’s unconscious form.
“Hmm, alright. I’m gonna grab somethin’ real quick,” Striker stated heading over to the wall of cupboards. Xain gave a tentative nod of understanding continuing to look over Chaz, they’d placed a pillow under his head as well as draped a blanket over his lower half leaving only the top portion of his torso exposed. Xain was simply watching Chaz when the shark gave a soft pained moan followed by a wince right before his eyes opened slightly much to Xain’s surprise.
“Chaz?” Xain asked in shocked surprise.
“X-Xain…W-why…where am I?” Chaz stammered out, furrowing his brow in confusion at seeing Xain.
“Take it easy, you’re in Stolas’ infirmary at the Goetia palace,” Xain explained placing a hand on Chaz’s chest to keep him in place.
“You…ow! Found me?” Chaz questioned although his words were slightly muffled due to the swelling from the gash on his face.
“Shit didn’t expect Ya ta be awake yet,” Striker commented coming back over with a cold compress in hand which he handed to Xain.
“Here, hold still,” Xain encouraged pressing the cold compress to the gash on Chaz’s face gently. Chaz let out a sharp shriek that faded into whimpering.
“Try not ta move to much, we just barely gotchya put back together,” Striker commented, taking a quick glance over Chaz’s injuries to make sure he hadn’t opened them up with his movements.
“I, I’ll try,” Chaz agreed through shaky breaths.
“Alright, everythin’ looks good. There isn’t much more I can do here, Calus will be down in a little while until then I’ll leave Ya two be,” Striker stated heading out of the infirmary.
Xain continued to hold the compress to Chaz’s face occasionally moving it around to prevent too much cold in one area eventually removing it entirely. Chaz stared up at Xain with an absolutely pathetic look on his features, half lidded eyes glassy, his face was still bruised with slight swelling, and it was clear he was still in a lot of pain. Xain gave a sympathetic smile while tussling some of Chaz’s floppy hair out of his face.
“Rest Chaz, we can talk more later,” Xain encouraged.
“I can…try but…it hurts really…badly,” Chaz stammered through winces of pain.
“I know…just try,” Xain encouraged again.
Chaz tried to rest although it was hard due to the pain from his injuries, Xain remaining by his side till Calus came down with Striker about an hour later. Calus went to grab a change of bandages while Striker got started unwrapping a few of Chaz’s wounds eliciting various pained sounds from the shark.
“We’ll need you to sit up briefly to bandage some of your torso injuries,” Calus informed Chaz upon returning.
“Mm-hm,” Chaz acknowledged.
“I’ll help get him up,” Xain offered.
Striker moved to slide his arm behind Chaz’s shoulders while Xain did the same from his side gingerly lifting Chaz up into a semi sitting position.
“Atta boy,” Striker stated as Chaz bit down on his lower lip to supress a pained scream.
Calus worked as quickly as possible to rebandage Chaz’s injuries so as Striker and Xain could lay him back down. Chaz stifled his pained cries behind a series of moaning whimpers, but that didn’t stop the tears from spilling down his face as the pain overwhelmed him. Xain felt his stomach twist at seeing Chaz in so much distress then he remembered the little trick they would use for his panic attacks, gently Xain reached forwards to place two fingers on Chaz’s nose and started to rub. Chaz relaxed with in a few moments, entire body going limp as his expression also relaxed earning a confused arched brow from both Striker as well as Calus.
“What did Ya do?” Striker asked, making Xain realize this wasn’t something they’d seen him do with Chaz before.
“Um…it’s apparently a trait unique to the shark demons, they go sort of catatonic when you rub their noses or flip them over,” Xain explained.
“Huh, really? Can’t he still feel the pain though?” Calus wondered curiously.
“Not that I know, Chaz explained it as going into a deeper form of sleep. He said he couldn’t experience anything while it was happening,” Xain continued.
“How long does it last?” Striker asked in turn.
“30 minutes,” Xain simply answered.
“Well, it’s better then nothing,” Calus admitted.
“I think that’s all we can do for now,” Striker interjected.
“Yeah, we’ll be back in an hour to check on him,” Calus agreed with a nod.
“Okay,” Xain confirmed.
Calus left with Striker leaving Xain with Chaz, hands lightly rubbing the shark’s shoulder as he slowly started snapping out of the catatonic state 30 minutes later. Chaz inhaled sharply from a pang of pain although he seemed more coherent now.
“Feeling a little better?” Xain wondered.
“Define better…” Chaz trailed off in a strained tone.
“Right…Crimson did this to you, didn’t he,” Xain concluded specifically eyeing the cigar burns over Chaz’s body.
“Some of it…yeah, his goons did the rest,” Chaz confirmed through winces of pain.
“And this? Why did they stop?” Xain wondered lightly hovering his fingers over the gash on Chaz’s face.
“That was Crimson…I, I can’t remember much during that, but…I think he got an emergency call and had to leave,” Chaz guessed.
“Fucking Crimson, he better hope I never meet him,” Xain snarled under his breath just as the door to the infirmary opened drawing his attention towards it. Stolas strode in with a gentle smile upon his features.
“Hello, Calus and Striker said you were awake Chaz, so I decided to come check on you myself,” Stolas informed them.
“There was no need for that your majesty,” Xain insisted.
“Nonsense, now they told me you were in a lot of pain Chaz,” Stolas inquired, walking around to the opposite side that Xain was on.
“Um…yeah, it’s pretty bad,” Chaz confirmed.
“Alright, I’ll get something that should help,” Stolas stated heading towards the cabinets.
Stolas returned a few moments later with a syringe, vial and a small jar in hand, gingerly Stolas filled the syringe with the substance from the vial then injected it into the IV attached to Chaz. After a few moments Stolas discarded the empty vial as well as the syringe, picking up the jar in turn. The prince dipped his fingers into it revealing a mint green colored substance inside that smelled a little rancid as he applied it to the gash on Chaz’s face making him wrinkle his nose in disgust.
“Both of these should help reduce the pain by quite a bit,” Stolas informed them putting the lid back on the jar.
“Once you heal a bit Calus can use his abilities to speed things along as well,” Xain added.
“That would be great…I feel really tired,” Chaz yawned.
“You should rest as much as possible, Xain if you wish there are two beds over there should you require them,” Stolas offered gesturing to the two stark white metal framed beds on the opposite side of the room.
“Thank you,” Xain returned sincerely.
With that Stolas nodded then left the duo and a few moments later Chaz fell into an uneasy sleep while Xain watched over him.
A couple days later Chaz was starting to heal leading Calus to make the decision to move Chaz from the treatment table to one of the metal frame beds and start using his abilities to speed the process. Calus slipped an arm under Chaz’s shoulders gently easing him up into a semi sitting position to begin with then slid his other arm under his knees, lifting the shark up off the treatment table as smoothly as he could manage. Chaz still clenched his jaw with a small whimper of pain, body jerking slightly however he made it to the bed.
“Okay, take some time to catch your breath then we’ll get going on me healing you with my abilities,” Calus encouraged.
“How painful is it going to be?” Xain wondered furrowing his brow in concern.
“It’s not going to be pleasant; I’m repairing everything from bone to muscle to tendons and more unfortunately that’s not exactly a pain free process,” Calus explained with clear regret in his tone.
Xain resisted the urge to drape his wing over Chaz protectively as the shark looked up at his partner with a concerned look. After giving Chaz a moment Calus pulled a chair up beside the bed, gently he turned Chaz’s face towards him using one hand to hold it in place while the other hovered over the deep gash still present on his cheek. Xain immediately recognized the bluish glow that radiated under Calus’ hand, but he was drawn from it by Chaz’s pained whimpering, the shark’s eyes squeezed shut as he tried desperately not to move. Calus stayed focused on his task as Xain tried to offer his partner some form of comfort by rubbing lightly on his shoulder. A couple minutes later Calus pulled his hand away from the wound revealing it was no longer swollen and it wasn’t as deep making it just a surface cut, seemingly satisfied Calus moved to Chaz’s broken wrist that was laying on the bed closest to the Dracony. Calus unwrapped the bandage then held Chaz’s wrist in one hand loosely while hovering the other over it once again radiating that bluish aura however this time Chaz let out a pained cry and his body jerked violently prompting Xain to move his hand to Chaz’s chest while gently carding his free hand through his unkept drooping hair.
This course kept up for the next few injuries as Calus mended most of Chaz’s broken bones, erased the bruises as well as the cigar burns and finally closed some of the minor stab wounds. After nearly two hours of healing Chaz was exhausted, sweat rolling down his skin making his hair stick to portions of his face as he panted. Calus stood up to go retrieve some bandaging materials, a bowl of warm water, a cold cloth as well as a glass of cold water to drink before returning. Xain took the cool cloth from Calus to wipe Chaz’s face eliciting an approving hum from the shark as he leaned into the feeling appreciatively, Calus used the warm water with another cloth to clean Chaz’s body along with his remaining injuries before bandaging them.
“Alright, that should do for the moment. I’ll be back in a couple hours to check in, if anything happens before then just come get me,” Calus explained in a gentle tone to Xain, standing up to clean up however leaving the water glass on the bedside table.
“Okay, thanks again Calus,” Xain sincerely thanked the Dracony.
Upon Claus leaving the infirmary Xain walked to the opposite side of the bed from where he’d been previous, grabbing the glass of water left on the bedside table. Gingerly Xain helped Chaz into a semi sitting position, offering the glass in turn which Chaz accepted even managing to hold it in one hand now that his broken bones had been mended. After down half the glass Chaz returned it to Xain who then laid him back down only to receive a bashful sort of frown as Chaz averted his gaze from the demon hybrid.
“I, I’m sorry you need to take care of me like this,” Chaz apologized in a low regretful tone.
“Huh? Don’t apologize, this isn’t your fault Chaz,” Xain insisted a little taken aback by Chaz’s apology.
“In a way it is though, it was my stupid idea that got me into this mess,” Chaz continued.
“You made a bad decision…that doesn’t mean you should die for it,” Xain persisted as his tail unconsciously moved to coil around Chaz’s.
“Still…it seems like all I’m good for is causing trouble…” Chaz trailed off.
“Enough, you’re fine and I’m not going to let anything happen to you,” Xain insisted in a firm tone as he cupped Chaz’s cheek taking the shark off guard.
“B-But…Xain…Mm!?” Chaz was cut off by Xain pressing their lips together for a firm yet gentle kiss. Chaz hesitated for a moment out of surprise but melted into the gesture eventually.
It took a couple more sessions with Calus to get Chaz healed up luckily each time getting less painful then the previous. A few scars were left behind but for the most part Chaz was able to be healed leading to them trying to get Chaz back on his feet. Xain gently wrapped his tail around Chaz’s waist as he helped Calus ease Chaz up off the bed into a standing position although he was a little wobbly the shark demon managed to stay standing. From that point Chaz was able to get fully back on his feet both literally and figuratively with Xain right beside him the entire time. Xain brought some clothes into the infirmary for Chaz to change into, placing them on the bed beside him.
“Hopefully my car hasn’t been impounded,” Chaz partially joked, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“We can work on getting it back if that’s the case,” Xain nonchalantly stated gathering up a couple things in a backpack.
“Yeah…just would like to not sleep in a bush till then,” Chaz once again partially joked with a small chuckle.
“Why would you be sleeping in a bush?” Xain wondered furrowing his brow in confusion with his back still turned to Chaz.
“I have no where else to go nor the money for a motel so it’s either my car or nothing,” Chaz explained grabbing the loose jogging pants Xain placed next to him.
“You’re assuming I’m letting you go back to living in that piece of crap you call a car,” Xain stated glancing over his shoulder with a smirk.
“What do you mean?” Chaz casually asked sliding the pants gingerly on.
“You’re coming to live with me in the penthouse and I’m currently looking for a place to buy for just us,” Xain revealed turning to face Chaz.
“What!?” Chaz exclaimed, brows arching in shocked surprise.
“Yeah, apparently letting you out of my sight is dangerous,” Xain teased with another chuckle.
“Uh…I, I don’t know…what to say…” Chaz trailed off, a slight blush crossing his features.
“About time I found a way to shut you up…well, that doesn’t involve ropes and gags,” Xain teased laughing out loud this time.
Chaz got a shaky smirk as the blush deepened on his face before finishing getting dressed with Xain’s help. The duo met Calus and Striker outside the palace to head back to the penthouse where Xain got Chaz settled in the room he’d been given by Calus. They’d share the room till Xain got the chance to purchase or rent a place for the two of them.
