All of this whole ‘belonging to an angel’ thing is weird as fuck and sometimes Tommy is half tempted to leave. But as strange as it is its…not bad. He got his fucking wings back. And his tail. And he gets to sleep somewhere safe and comfortable whenever he’s tired. He doesn’t have to go out hunting for carcasses to scavenge from, Phil has his endless food supply that he happily feeds Tommy from whenever he demands it.

About the DSMP x Batfam AU…. I really had to think this one through. I love both of them, but they have such different character dynamics and ideologies. Even the very worlds they are set in are like complete opposites. However, I have also read like so many (so many) superhero AU fics for the DSMP (before the fandom tag got overwhelmingly oversaturated), so I have some thoughts on…

DSMP Characters as The Batfam

You’re right. c!Tommy does feel like he’d be a good match for Damian. Loves animals? Feral? Stabby? Genuinely good? Artistically-inclined? The youngest? If we’re going by characters traits, Tommy would absolutely be Damian… But if I did that, I’d spend way too much time comparing characters who can’t be compared… So my list is going to be based on vibes. Same vibes are also why I’m choosing to make L’Manberg the main members. I’m completely disregarding age, motivations, personality, etc. This is all (mostly) vibes. There is some justification for them.

I wasn’t able to think of a match for everyone, but I got a decent chunk.

Wilbur as Batman

Fundy as Nightwing

Quackity as Oracle

Tommy as Red Hood

Tubbo as Red Robin

Jack as Spoiler

Niki as Batwoman

Ranboo as Black Bat

Slime as Batgirl 2 (also Cass but specifically Batgirl-era)

Technoblade as Azrael

Karl and Sapnap as Harley and Ivy (who’s who? Idk)

Dream as the entire Rogue Gallery — every single rogue just compressed into one blob of a man

I felt compelled to draw Tommy as a Robin and Red Hood.

Notes under the cut. They’re explanations for what little of my thought process can be converted into comprehensible words. It’s long. I ramble A LOT. Read at your own peril.

I’m pretty sure the obvious explanations are Wilbur, Tubbo, Techno, Karl&Sapnap, and Dream.

c!Wilbur is so much like Bruce Wayne — it’s kind of not funny. There’s the obvious “led children to fight a war” thing, the “compulsively acquiring children because they won’t leave him alone” thing, the “becomes evil immediately after crossing the no kill thing” thing, and the “sad little meow meow wet rag of a man but still extremely charismatic” thing…

c!Tubbo and Tim Drake are the closest 1:1 of this entire list.

Okay, okay. c!Techno as Jean-Paul. The vibes are wrong if we’re talking about canon Azrael, but I’m specifically thinking of fanfiction/“goes to family dinners WFA-style” Azrael.

c!Karl and c!Sapnap have such “married anti-villains befriending the heroes” vibes. I love them so much in superpower AUs even when they’re not with c!Quackity. As I’m writing this, I’m remembering that Schlatt and Quackity are also very often written in a Joker x Harley Quinn situation, but we’re talking about Batfam!

Dream is like the caricature of a Gotham Rogue(TM). He’s got the sympathetic motivation sticky noted onto a decades’ worth of terrorism with only the vaguest hope of redemption that he’ll probably never actually get because he’s too popular as a villain. I could make a point for any character interpretation (both fanpn and canon) of c!Dream as Ivy, Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, Black Mask, Joker, etc. (also, not a Rogue, but Ra’s too)

The thing about the DSMP is that it almost feels like a reversal of DC. It’s like a mirror, the same solution from a reversed conclusion. That also means DSMP characters appear un-traumatized and naive then get completely fucked over by the sheer horror that is the SMP, meanwhile DC characters appear fresh from traumatized and find themselves in a position to believe in goodness. The late-stage DSMP was filled with isolation while DC heroes always end up in found families.

It’s why I couldn’t think of a proper match for Damian.

What I loved about late-stage c!Tommy is that he keeps (disguises) that hope and love for people despite everything. Meanwhile, Damian’s character development is learning all that from the ground up. The vibes are similar but not the same. Honestly, for a hot second, I considered Purpled as Damian but alas, not enough Purpled content. If I were to project my own timeline of events upon the DSMP, Purpled would make a great Damian-esque match.

But that does not change the fact that Tommy as Red Hood has the best vibes.

No one else is quite as “doomed by the narrative and irreversibly changed yet somehow still painfully compassionate” in the same way Tommy and Jason are (also the “rejecting their father/brother but still loving them unconditionally). Their vibes are truly something.

I’m also very stern in my belief that c!Tommy should never kill because it would negatively impact his character development, but he very very easily could have gone the Red Hood route. By technicality, it’s more like Tommy as Robin 2, but I so dearly love the potential of villain! and anti-villain!Tommy. It’s such an underutilized concept. (Also I wrote a protege AU like way back and it makes me think of Red Hood now lol)

But originally, I flip-flopped between Fundy as Red Hood and Tommy as Nightwing, but I dunno. The logic was there but the vibes weren’t.

If we were considering a timeline of events, Tommy would make a great Robin 1 with Fundy as Robin 2 . Dick Grayson was the OG child hero, much like Tommy. He was angry and craved justice but he was also full of Light. Meanwhile, c!Fundy grew up in Tommy’s shadow.

However, Fundy also has that “if I can’t make them smile, I’ll make them cry” thing that Villain Dick Graysons also tend to have. Dick is always like four steps away from flipping a switch and becoming a supervillain. He tries so fucking hard to do good, but if he ever determines that “being good” isn’t enough to “do good,” he takes over the world. But Dick would also like step away from toxic energy by holing himself up in his apartment filled with depression, which is exactly what Fundy did.

Fundy and Dick are more “blood-soaked wet cats with strained smiles and bowling alley carpet polos” and Tommy and Jason are more ��dramatic Greek tragedies.”

The Batgirls and adjacent female Bat vigilantes came to me immediately, but it’s not as long as the above.

Quackity as Barbara Gordon. He followed Wilbur filled with Hope and Justice. Quackity makes an excellent Batgirl 1. His Las Nevadas arc would then be Oracle but Lawful Evil and also completely isolated from any friends, family, or rational support. Quackity isn’t inherently bad. He still has good intentions, and he’s still good at heart, irregardless of how he portrays himself. He’s the classic femme fatale, including the whole sexist Hollywood “he needs a strong male love interest to take care of him” thing because he is absolutely spiraling on his own. Anyway, I am a fiancés shipper, so this would lead to a Birds of Prey-esque team up of LN and Kinoko.

Jack Manifold has Stephanie Brown’s “glitter bomb in the face” and “functions entirely on spite but also is just really tired of being hurt” energy. Jack isn’t quite Stephanie, but his dynamic with Tubbo made me consider him as Spoiler. Also consider: Jack and The Nuke being Steph’s Robin 4 arc.

Slime is so much like Batgirl-era Cassandra. There’s a lot of “innocent vs naive, manipulated by those with intentions, both evil and morally just” going on. Batgirl!Slime and RH!Tommy would have such a dynamic. I think about Fort Big a lot.

It is literally a crime that c!Jack Manifold and c!Slime never interacted in the DSMP.

Ranboo as Black Bat. I don’t know how to explain it, but Tim Drake and Cassandra have such a great dynamic (albeit one that I’m only familiar with in fanfics). I was originally going to say Ranboo as Orphan, but I don’t think he’s quite there. Maybe GhostBoo as Orphan.

Speaking of ghosts, GhostBur as Carrie Kelley’s Robin. He’s in the wrong places at the wrong times and (unknowingly) shoves himself in situations, and he’s got that unfair “why” going on during Doomsday. Unfortunately, GhostBur suffers from memory loss and is often willfully ignorant. I think in an AU space where’s he’s an actual character and not the echo of an idea, he’d make a great elseworld-type Robin.

c!Niki is a WLW revolutionary war veteran with a very close relationship with Wilbur. There’s more, but again, Vibes.

Now here’s where my hot takes truly lie: Philza as Ghostmaker and Eret as Talia.

We all like Dadza but c!Phil? Absolutely not a Dad. If you actually look at c!Phil without the rose-tinted lens of his content creator’s dad energy, c!Phil and Ghostmaker aere weirdly similar? I really don’t know how to explain it exactly, but I think that Phil would have brought Wilbur up as like this weird amalgamation of BTK-era Bruce, Phantom One, and Clownhunter, leading to Wilbur eventually being… not abandoned because Phil wanted Wilbur to have more independence… but struggling to make it on his own. Eventually, Wilbur would follow his parents’ (Mumza would be Martha AND Thomas) footsteps and become something that’s essentially the same but different. Like how Ghostmaker is basically Tynion’s Batman OC but somehow more edgy except Wilbur is in the opposite direction. Like how Martha and Thomas saved people through philanthropy and surgery and Bruce wanted to save people in his own way too. Phil and Kristen influenced Wilbur towards fighting crime… Also I could totally see c!Phil becoming a crime fighter as a fun and challenging art form rather than any genuine interest in being a good person. c!Phil’s got that immortal dilemma where he’s basically a sociopath running purely on an ingrained and steadily eroding moral code.

Now… Eret as Talia. Where do I begin? I love Talia. She’s such a badass but also she’s a kind person who believes in Bruce’s cause but she’s also extremely loyal to her father’s cause but she loves her family so much but she’s also a assassin princess but the world is against her and everything she is will only continue going downhill until she either becomes straight up evil or stands her ground. I love the characterization of Talia who chose to side with “the greater good” against the person she loves and more has to live with the burden of this decision for the rest of her life and continue to do what needs to be done even, for better or worse… Did I say Talia? I meant Eret. Wait, no, it’s both. That applies to both. Talia’s choice is betraying Bruce to aid her in running a global assassin cult and killing people. Eret’s choice is betraying his revolution to run a monarchy and enforcing taxes. Yes, the vibes are the same.

Ranboo: Emperors and Oracle

Techno and Phil: Wild witches

So Oracle c!Eret au idea. Eret’s very traditional in that they write a cryptic poem basically. Only Eret writes them in the middle of the night, eyes glowing, and then promptly falls back asleep and doesn’t remember what she wrote. There’s a notebook on her nightstand that she swears she’s never touched but it’s full of prophesies dating back to when she first joined.

Most major server events are in there, the burning of Ponk’s lemon tree, the founding of L’Manberg, her betrayal and later regret, the election, its results, Techno joining the server, The Red Festival, the formation of the Badlands, November 16th, the discovery of the egg, the prison, Doomsday, Jack digging his way out of hell, etc. Eret prophesied the end of the disk war the day after Tommy gave them up for L’manberg, Skeppy’s corruption the day Bad started digging out the room.

But no one knows but Foolish. And in Foolish fashion he’s going to drop it like “Hey can I check your prophesy book?” and just confuse Eret so much. It’s also part of the reason the Egg wanted to corrupt Eret (maybe more then in canon) because having the experience of immortality is amazing but actual prophesy is incredibly valuable.

In my Dreamon Forest AU, Eret is a god of oracle and perception. Thus the herobrine eyes. They can give visions of prophecy to others, though Eret prefers to give the premonitions own their own. But after failing to deliver a prophecy of tragedy, she is one of the more heavily scorned among the mortals and even in the pantheon, more than any of the other gods. Not to Fundy, one of the last remaining who know Eret personally

Sleepy Bois Inc Batman au

okay hear me out

Phil is Batman. he’s got the dad vibes and a chronic addiction to adopting chaotic children and their friends. he seems like he should be the most responsible one, but this dude runs around in a fursuit fighting crime every night, he’s not as mature as he paints himself. always trying to give his kids advice but they never listen to him, so the poor man’s just struggling to contain the chaos.

Kristen is Catwoman. she’s a mischievous queen, always causing trouble for Phil when she gets the chance. logically she seems like she should be the mum, and the kids love her, but she’s ascended beyond the need for children and leaves Phil to clean up their messes.

Wilbur is Dick Grayson, the first Robin and current Nightwing. he’s the oldest and has been with Phil for the longest, got best friend vibes with Techno and accidental mentor vibes with Tommy. he takes pride in his appearance and his fashion, and has called himself a pretty boy. he’s stereotyped as the nice one on the surface but is highkey unstable. got the most friends among the rest of the caped community

Techno is Tim Drake, the third Robin n current Red Robin. he’s a fuckin neeerrrrrrd. socially awkward dude who accidentally made friends with a ton of extroverts and has been suffering the consequences ever since. smart and dedicated when he cares, but he often doesn’t. the least chaotic, but mostly just because he’s completely dead inside at this point. would beat up TommyInnit without hesitation.

Tommy is Damian Wayne, the current Robin. his literal nickname is demon brat, need i explain more? also, gets way too attached to animals (cough cough Henry)

and then Niki is Cassandra Cain, the second Batgirl and Batman’s only legal daughter. she’s essentially part of the family, but is a competent enough adult to not need parental figures and so doesn’t often get involved with the petty drama. quiet and sweet, but can and will destroy you if need be. any moral ambiguity can be eliminated by just fighting for whatever side she fights for. she is always in the moral right.

like, it all makes sense. Tubbo is Jon Kent, the current Superboy. he’s Tommy’s best friend and spends half his time with SBI; he’s the only metahuman they’ll let in Gotham. he’s super sweet but powerful af (hacks irl), and will play up the innocent persona to get away with chaos. and then Superman would be Sparklez; a veteran in the field and Tubbo’s father. fond of but also eternally done with SBI’s bullshit. stays the hell away from Gotham.

Then you could round out the Batgirls with Minx as Barbara Gordon (scary, always angry and usually with good reason, good leader but bad taste in men) and SophieTexas as Stephanie Brown (chaotic, strong moral code but willing to get her hands more dirty than SBI is, good friends with Techno n Niki). the girls on the gamer girl smp are the Birds of Prey. Poki is Wonder Woman.

the first Teen Titans were Soothouse, and Tim’s Young Justice group is Techno’s 2017- friend group: Hanna as Cassie’s Wonder Girl cause she’s an ascended fangirl, Skeppy as Impulse because duh, Calvin as Kon Kent’s Superboy cause he’s cocky but for bloody good reason, and Tapl as Slobo because it’d be funny. also, black nail polish rights. BBH is Arrowette but with a gun. he made the mistake of becoming friends with Skeppy and has been struggling ever since, but at least he’s close with the new Green Lanterns. people usually underestimate him, but he has a fucking gun so

Tommy’s new Teen Titans group includes Tubbo, Wisp, Deo, and Drista. Wisp is Maya Ducard’s Nobody; great at combat and with strong oldest-friend vibes. Deo is Emiko Queen’s Red Arrow, cause whenever he shows up the violence escalates significantly and rapidly. and then Drista is like that new Teen Lantern girl, the kid who wasn’t actually chosen but hacked into the Green Lantern rings’ power source cause she’s a gremlin child.

Squid Kid was just a big brain Gotham dude who thought it would be cool to challenge Techno’s title of ‘World’s Greatest Detective’. Techno took this personally, and the two took turns trying to outdo each other by solving the biggest cases the fastest. Squid, though, was a student, and so to fund this feud he accidentally became head of Gotham’s biggest drug empire, in charge of the city’s supply of a new chemical colloquially called ‘potatoes’. it’s non-addictive but does give you temporary super strength, which is inconvenient in a city that pumps out a new supervillain every week. the rivalry still continues, though, and - despite Squid turning from wannabe vigilante to criminal mastermind - the two have almost struck up a friendship, or at least an mutual admiration for each other

Schlatt runs the Suicide Squad, alongside Minx’s Oracle. they broke Quackity, Fundy, and Eret outta jail and got bombs in them, to force them to pull off the most dangerous missions. Quackity was there in the first place because of Schlatt, but is now having second thoughts. i kinda want him to be Harley Quinn, cause he has a similar vibe with the SBI boys that she has with the Bats. Eret was there because he betrayed some heroes a while ago for personal gain, and hasn’t had the chance to atone yet. Fundy was there because he used to be close with Wilbur, to the point that he was often mistaken as his sidekick. he got sick of Wilbur always needing to be the leader and turned to the villains’ side. the two haven’t spoken since

finally, the Dream Team are Earth’s Green Lanterns; super powerful and with a lot of galactic clout. they’re pretty new to the scene, though, and so initially clashed with SBI, cause they kept trying to get involved in Gotham’s business. powers are strictly prohibited in Gotham. eventually, this beef culminated in a duel between Dream and Techno: if Dream won they could actually uphold their oath and protect everyone on Earth, if Techno won then they had to stay the hell outta SBI’s city. Dream still hasn’t recovered from the fact that he was beat by a guy with no powers, but it was close enough for Techno to enjoy teaming up with the masked man every now and then since

so excited to finally be able to ramble about this :D

I'm gonna talk about my longshot which is a fantasy and royalty AU SBI fic except I make it better because angst and morally questionable Phil. It's long so uh yeah lol

Right so, the beginning is like Philza starts the Antarctic empire by himself from like the ruins of another kingdom, and all goes well for a few decades, then he starts to want to leave and go fly away, because bird brain, if he stays in one place for too long he becomes restless and unhappy. So he goes to The Oracle ™ (Eret my beloved) to ask for a prophecy about whether or not he should keep trying with this thing. The Oracle ™ tells him "yo so we already had a prophecy that you would do this lmao" and Phil goes "oh cool haha so what's my future" and then the tone shifts and Phil's like "oh god do I die?"

He doesn't but he does get a prophecy, and I'll put some contextual lines here because I actually kinda like it but I don't wanna spoil the whole thing.

"To rule without others brings nothing but anguish and war,

Your rule did not begin with, but it shall end with four...

Of a Crown, destined for those worthy,

Of a Halo, a blessing from above,

Of Hair, golden locks a beacon."

So Phil takes from this prophecy "oh, I need three more people, a family perhaps, to rule alongside with me for my reign to be prosperous and so I don't fail at this shit."

So he goes out searching for his crown, halo, and hair. Finds techno, who has all the attributes of a king and goes "adopted immediately, one down two to go."

Finds Wilbur, who has poliosis around his head kinda in a halo shape. Poliosis is that thing where your hair naturally goes white earlier in your life if anyone forgot. Thinks "Boom, eldest child found, he got the other thing, one more to go."

Falls in love with Kristen at some point and while they're courting he catches a glimpse of the four of them in a pond and sees his boys with Kristen and himself, with his blonde hair and goes, "Fuck yeah I got em all let's go."

Kristen gives birth to Tommy and all is well for a while before she dies for unknown reasons. The real reason is she's the goddess of death and couldn't stay away from her duties any longer, so she kinda had to just go lmao. He doesn't worry too much about the prophecy at this point because he's grieving and he still has four people right?

Then this moment happens:

The maids were whispering amongst themselves, watching the princes play with fond smiles on their faces.

"The youngest really does look like his father, doesn't he?" one said in a doting voice.

"His hair is so golden, the people are bound to adore him when he step's into high society," another said

It was as Philza watched his youngest son laugh, with his golden hair shining, the sunlight casting a halo over him, and his brothers playfully placing a crown far too big for him over his eyes, that The Emperor felt his heart sink in his chest, and the love for his youngest fall to the ground and shatter into a million pieces. He had found his prophecy, but it only spelt his misfortune.

Phil instantly goes "wah wah wah my child who is not even a teenager yet is going to ruin my life by being something he has no control over!" He starts being super diastant and cold towards Tommy and Tommy doesnt get becase why would he. Tehcno and Wilbur still talk to him though so he dosent fully get what's going to happen.

When Tommy is 14 Phil decides he can't take it any longer and says he's going on a trip. He brings Techno with him, to train him up to be king, and Wilbur because Wilbur is the oldest so he should get to come too. He promises Tommy it's only a few months, no more than 4, that he will send letters as often as he can and that the head advisor will be standing in his, Phil's, place. Phil earnestly believes it will be no longer than a few months, that he just needs a break for a bit before he returns. A midlife crisis if you will.

So 3/4 SBi leaves and Tommy is left with Sam, his favourite guard, and Puffy, the doctor, to look after him, as well as the head advisor. Kinda doesn't work as the head advisor dies like a day after Tommy's family leaves. Tommy Puffy and Sam understandably panic because Tommy is the only one who can rule and he just fuckign turned 14. Sam is a guard but also only recently turned 18 so he has no experience and Puffy is a doctor so they're well and truly fucked.

Tommy makes the announcement that his dad left him in charge, the people are warm and welcome him, and he manages for 4 months, just barely. He can't send a letter to Phil because Phil was a prick who forgot to tell anyone where they would be going, but Phil does send letters to Tommy. Tommy reads them eagerly and waits for his dad to come home.

5 months pass, don't worry, it's storm season he's probably just a little hindered.

7 months pass, the letters become less frequent, storm season has come and gone.

8 months pass, Tommy's getting really good at this whole "being King" thing, but he still misses his dad. He gets one letter telling him happy birthday, but he still has five months until he's 15.

9 months pass, the letters have stopped, and he starts to re-read the old ones. The people are worried, but Tommy has done a superb job of keeping them happy.

11 months pass, the date where has to declare them officially missing is drawing ever closer. He stops reading the letters.

12 months pass. On the last day of his 14th year, he declares King Philza, Prince Gladius, and Prince Syreni officially missing. His 15th birthday is spent alone.

1 year and one day since his father left he has a hasty coronation and is declared King. The kingdom still has hope that Phil will return, Tommy doesn't voice his disagreement publicly.

A year and a month since his father has left he has a proper coronation and is celebrated. Tommy believes his dad and brothers are dead.

Tommy is 16 when they are officially declared to dead unless proven otherwise.

Tommy is 17 when the Essempee declares war on The Antarctic Empire. The newly crowned King Dream, who is 22, has risen to power and he is taking out his 10-year grudge against Techno finally. Not acknowledging Tommy's pleas against it and his attempts to tell dream that Techno has been M.I.A for years, he reluctantly goes to war. It lasts all of 3 months before he is defeated and decides to surrender to keep as many people alive as possible. Dream bursts into Tommy's war tent and finds Tommy, not even an adult, terrified and trying to shield the few orphans he had found wandering the defeated site.

Dream sees this literal child that he went to war with without even knowing him and reconsiders. After finding out about Technoblade, he goes "oh shit so this was for nothing then," decides not to take over The Empire, strikes up a peace treaty with Tommy but does end up taking Tommy's prized discs because he's still an egotistical bastard and stealing is not a moral he upholds.

Tommy turns 18. He becomes friends with King Tubbo and King Ranboo of Snowchester, and their son Prince Micheal.

Tommy is 19. he adopts a boy named Shroud, who was one of the children he protected that last day of the war.

Tommy is 20. He finally feels truly happy. Then the missing 3/4 SBi burst back into the throne room.

Phil attempts to apologise. Tommy tells him to fuck off. Techno and Wilbur attempt to apologise. Tommy is more considerate but decides he would prefer for the two to not be a part of his life. Wilbur has a hissy fit tantrum and tries to say that he is actually meant to be king seeing as he is of age. Tommy holds up the document and says something along the lines of "On this day DD/MM/Y King Philza, Prince Syreni and Prince Gladius are declared dead. You, Wilbur, your father Phil and your brother Technoblade are not in possession of those names, seeing as they are dead. You three are strangers who have broken into the palace, so get tf out."

Techno goes calmy, the other two less so.

Epiougue ish thing, Wilbur creates a country then dies when heblows it up, Phil continues to travel the world, trying to fly away from his guilt, and after a few years Tommy tentatively let's Techno back into his life, and the two eventually have a brother like realationship again. It wasn't how it was, and it never will be again, but how it is now, is good.

Tommy has Corwn, Halo and Hair, and he has his best friends Tubb and Ranboo, and he has brother Tehcnoblade. He has fulfilled the prophecy and has a better life.
