#Online Ordering System for Dark Kitchens
Text
Lay You in the Ground (WIP CHAPTER) - An iZombie AU - Blaine x OFC Fic
Tumblr media
Kiss me.
Those two little words reverberate in his brain for the next several hours, so aggressively intrusive despite their softness that Blaine can’t focus on the task at hand—the new online ordering option that will run through the Point-of-Sale system of Romero’s, allowing brain purchases to print cheerily out into the kitchen as custom menu items. The potential to make even more money, even more under the radar. Normally, he would be all ears. But Blaine barely even hears as Darcy explains the intricacies of the new network.
He registers words, vaguely.
“…and it’s critical that the actual products that go into those menu items be added to the kitchen order to cover the true nature of our “special deliveries.”
The meaning is clouded by the memory of big, dark eyes looking up at him. Soft, warm lips millimeters from his own. A heartbeat so loud in his ears, beating so fast that he wonders how she didn't faint. Then, the words that are both a heady arousal and an albatross, making him ache and scaring the shit out of him at the same time.
She'd been so close, so tempting. He has no idea how he’d mustered the willpower to leave that room.
Kiss me. Don’t you want to?
He wants to. So badly. In fact, thinking about kissing Catherine Cohen takes up way too much of his average day—even eking into the late hours, when he lays in bed awake, thinking about all the delightful little ways she would react to his kiss. And then, to his hands on her. His mouth on her. His body over hers. Hers, trapped beneath his, with none of the flirty back-and-forth, no means of escape.
His little runaway—there’s also that. The woman fled Vegas with twenty large of the mob’s money. And despite how he’d reassured her, Blaine isn’t a hundred-percent confident that whoever this Foreman guy is, he’s the type to take twenty Gs as a write-off. But if Kitty’s father has already paid the fatal price, there’s the shakiest of chances that the debt’s considered paid.
But also the chance that the tab’s still open, running, and gaining interest.
A problem, perhaps, but not for right now.
Now, Blaine blinks and looks at the pair of Darcy and Don E, who are both smiling broadly. He returns the gesture, expert at pantomime. He gestures to the office surrounding them, the extra monitor that will soon display the new orders.
“It all looks great. Let’s start slow, though, yeah? Offer this to our higher-paying customers. VIP. We’ll roll it out on a small scale. Darcy, can you hang here tomorrow night just in case I need to work out any kinks?”
Darcy blanches. Blaine, realizing his choice of words, winces. “With the system. I promise, no more dramatic movie kisses.”
Blaine cracks a real grin when Don E. scoots a little closer to his wife.
Unearthing his cell phone from his jacket pocket, Blaine wakes the screen to check the time. An hour until The Post opens. Romero’s is already in full swing, and the sound of dinner service sifts back to them, clinking and shouting and the crackle and hiss of flame and steam sounding almost intentionally arranged.
An alert makes Blaine swipe again, to bring up the security feed that surveils the area surrounding The Post. In the short clip that pops up, a man lurks in the alley just a block over, smoking. The time stamp is ten minutes past. Then, another alert—this time, the same man, across the street and visible in the camera feed that is mounted above the front door.
Something about the man—short, stocky, thinning hair and heavy eyebrows, a nervous shift back and forth from foot to foot that’s apparent even at a distance—makes Blaine uneasy. Right now, The Post would be occupied only by back-room girls, Chief if he’d decided to be early, and…Kitty.
Blaine watches on the front camera as the man shuffles to the edge of the far sidewalk, watching traffic, seeming to prepare for a jaywalk to The Post.
“Trouble, boss?” Don asks.
Blaine isn’t sure. But he puts his phone to sleep and tucks it away.
“No, no. Bums setting off the cameras. You know what? Don, take the night off. I’ll go work The Post tonight. As a thank you for all you’ve done”—he bows slightly—“and an apology for getting so intimately acquainted with your wife’s tonsils, stay and have dinner. On the house.”
Darcy squeals and jumps, clapping. “Really? Oh, we haven’t had a date night in forever. Baby, can we? Can we? Please?”
She punctuates her plea with a few well-placed kisses on Don’s smooth cheeks, landing last on his lips, pulling him in for a kiss that almost rivals the one that Blaine had laid on her. The kiss that had been impulsively intended for the woman Blaine was now—suddenly—very anxious about.
A problem for later's become a problem for right now.
Blaine leaves Don and Darcy still in flagrante as he hurries past diners and dodges staff on his way out into the darkening Seattle evening. The man lurking outside of The Post—he'd had a very Vegas look about him.

Homemade English muffins are "the star of the show" at Vinal Bakery
Tumblr media
Vinal Bakery is not your typical bakery. Located on 222 Somerville Ave, Somerville, MA, Vinal Bakery has become a staple for community members and young professionals on the go. The small New England bakery specializes in six flavors of homemade English muffins. “We also have a sandwich menu and everything comes on an English muffin, so that is kind of the star of the show,” says owner and pastry chef Sarah Murphy.
After learning from the bakers in her family while growing up in New Hampshire, Murphy took a risk-free opportunity to pursue baking as her full-time career when the 2008 Recession hit. “I realized I wasn’t cut out for desk work,” Murphy explained. She skipped culinary school and went straight to the kitchen, working at places like Flour Bakery and Morning Glory Farm in Martha’s Vineyard. Owning her own bakery was always Murphy’s end goal. Vinal Bakery opened in April 2019 after an old pizza place was selling in Murphy’s own neighborhood. “I think there’s a little bit of an entrepreneurial gene in the family,” Murphy jokingly noted. She credits some inspiration for opening the bakery to her dad who was also a business owner. Murphy also took the lucky opportunity to open Vinal General Store in 2022, after the space next door opened up. Vinal General Store is an old-school New England general store serving sandwiches, beer and wine, and even soft-serve ice cream.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The small bakery invites customers inside with the scent of freshly baked English muffins and what Murphy describes as “rustic New England pastries.” The soft green walls and aroma of coffee greets you as you walk through the door. Staff members can be seen preparing fresh bakery items and sandwiches behind the glass. Simple but delicious pastries like banana bread or a chocolate espresso cake inspired by a recipe from Murphy’s grandmother can be paired perfectly with a breakfast sandwich or coffee. One of the most popular items on the menu is the “Miss Maple”. The sandwich features an over-medium egg with cheddar cheese and a sweet touch of maple butter, all on top of a fresh English muffin. The homemade English muffin is soft with a nice crust, and it easily beats any store-bought English muffin. The sweet and savory combination creates the perfect bite that can be enjoyed inside the bakery or on the way to work. In addition to a tasty variety of food, Vinal Bakery has a range of coffee, tea, and espresso drinks to enjoy. The mocha latte features smooth espresso with your choice of milk and dark Valrhona chocolate ganache. The drinks can be enjoyed hot or cold, and they are the perfect start to your day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I like that our menu is all made from scratch and really thoughtful in terms of the ingredients we put in, but it’s a very accessible menu to people,” Murphy explained. “It’s not too elitist,” Murphy joked. The food and drinks are especially accessible along with the online ordering system and the small pickup window on the side of the bakery. The new head pastry chef works with Murphy to research and develop new pastries for the bakery. The Union Square community full of young professionals and families is the perfect location for Vinal Bakery. The bakery serves an array of families, construction workers, cops, and more. A warm breakfast sandwich and an iced latte are hard to pass up while working in the area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
From bookkeeping to spending time in the kitchen, Murphy loves every part of it. “I think the personalities that do best as professional bakers are the ones who really like both the act of making things with your hands and also the predictability of the routine of the day,” says Murphy. Like herself, Murphy looks for the same traits when hiring new bakers. Leaving her desk job and following her passion for baking worked out in the best possible way for Murphy. Vinal Bakery has maintained its success, even while navigating the pandemic during its first year of business. Owning an independent bakery comes with many challenges, but it has taught Murphy leadership skills and unusual but useful skills. “You weirdly get a lot of knowledge that you wouldn’t otherwise get,” Murphy noted. Owning a bakery has helped Murphy learn how to troubleshoot and fix any challenges that come with the job. But that is exactly what she loves to do.
Tumblr media
As Vinal Bakery is approaching its fourth birthday this April, Murphy and her staff continue to provide excellent service. “I think really fostering a community of caring, and respectful individuals, which I think shows in our service,” says Murphy on what makes Vinal Bakery different from the rest. Murphy focuses on maintaining a positive culture and community within the bakery. “I think just holding the team accountable to keep things very consistent so that when guests come they know they are gonna have the same type of experience they had the last time,” Murphy said. The outstanding reviews reflect the consistency of both the service and quality of Vinal Bakery. If you ever find yourself in Union Square of Somerville, MA, Vinal Bakery is certainly worth visiting.

9 Restaurant Technology Trends to Consider in 2023
Tumblr media
As the restaurant industry increasingly shifts towards delivery, innovative food service technologies are emerging to support the growth of restaurant businesses.
To enhance the customer experience and maintain competitiveness, restaurant owners must embrace modern technologies. Navigating this ever-changing landscape, whether by tapping into new revenue streams, integrating contactless delivery systems, adapting to evolving food and beverage trends, or leveraging smart technology, is vital for operational efficiency.
From the resurgence of AI applications to optimizing kitchen operations and delivering personalized experiences, there are myriad ways for restaurants to utilize technology to enhance their offerings, streamline their operations, and elevate customer satisfaction.
In this article, we will explore some of the prominent restaurant technology trends for 2023.
1. Online Ordering Systems and Delivery Apps
In an environment where restaurants face regulatory restrictions and stringent hygiene measures, online food ordering and "no-touch" home delivery services remain integral to the industry. This trend shows no signs of waning, as people increasingly favor online food orders delivered to their doorsteps.
Notably, the global online food delivery market is projected to reach $223.7 billion by 2027, according to Statista. While third-party food delivery services like DoorDash, UberEats, and GrubHub continue to be essential for businesses without in-house ordering and delivery systems, more restaurants are developing their own integrated apps and online platforms to foster direct customer relationships.
2. AI and Machine Learning
The year 2023 has seen AI take center stage, driven in part by the release of OpenAI's generative AI chatbot, ChatGPT. AI and machine learning solutions are gaining traction in the restaurant industry, with 70% of businesses showing interest, according to QuBeyond.
Applications of AI in the restaurant sector include chatbots for menu navigation and customer interactions, voice ordering systems, and dynamic pricing strategies. The promise of AI and machine learning extends to areas like optimizing restaurant margins and enhancing operational efficiency, although the full impact is yet to be determined.
3. Contactless Payment
Contactless payment is becoming increasingly prevalent in the restaurant industry, allowing customers to pay using smartwatches, smartphones, or smart cards via apps or touchless devices. This technology was gaining momentum even before the pandemic but has since become the norm.
Statistics indicate that approximately 53% of POS transactions will be contactless within five years, with the global value of contactless payments projected to increase by 300% to $6 trillion by 2024. Contactless payment not only offers speed and convenience but also hygiene and safety benefits, making it crucial for restaurants to invest in mobile and digital payment solutions.
4. Ghost Kitchens and Virtual Brands
Ghost kitchens, also known as virtual or dark kitchens, have emerged as a rapidly growing segment in the food service industry. While established restaurants experimented with them, startups received substantial funding. However, challenges such as low sales, operational issues, and safety concerns have raised doubts about their long-term viability.
The industry's outlook on ghost kitchens in 2023 remains divided, with some operators expecting them to become more common while others anticipate a decline. Experimentation with ghost kitchens and virtual brands will persist, but successful companies are likely to consolidate their presence.
5. Digital Kitchen Displays
With the surge in online orders, restaurants are seeking ways to streamline their operations. Digital Kitchen Display Systems (KDS) provide digital menu boards for kitchen staff, reducing the need for staff to move between the front-of-house and kitchen to process orders. These systems are linked to the restaurant's POS system and facilitate order prioritization, dietary preference identification, and inventory management, leading to more efficient and sustainable kitchen operations.
6. Loyalty Programs
Restaurant operators are investing in loyalty programs to boost customer spending and encourage repeat business, especially as customer retention proves more cost-effective than acquisition. Loyalty programs also help restaurants compete with third-party marketplaces. Digital loyalty programs are a focus for many brands in 2023, although they must be expanded while minimizing abuse and fraud.
7. Automated Inventory Management Systems
Automated inventory management software assists restaurants in efficiently tracking food and beverage stock, minimizing waste, and contributing to sustainability. Some companies, like Kitro, employ AI to reduce food waste and enhance operational efficiency. Collaborations with programs such as Too Good to Go can further prevent food wastage by offering surplus food as meal deals.
8. QR Codes
QR codes are increasingly replacing traditional restaurant menus, offering customers a contactless means of accessing menus, placing orders, and making payments. This technology not only reduces customer wait times and enhances satisfaction but also aids contact tracing in some regions. QR codes provide a cost-effective solution to restaurants and improve overall hygiene.
9. Customer Service Chatbots
Chatbots are being integrated into restaurant websites to enhance customer service. These AI-driven systems can guide users through websites, take orders, offer incentives, and address customer inquiries efficiently, fostering loyalty and encouraging repeat visits. Chatbots also reduce incoming calls, allowing staff to focus on in-house patrons.
In conclusion, restaurant technology in 2023 is marked by a wide range of innovations aimed at enhancing customer experiences, improving operational efficiency, and adapting to changing consumer preferences.

How to start a food delivery business in Dubai?
Starting a food delivery business in Dubai, like starting any business, requires careful planning and adherence to local regulations. Here are the steps to get you started:
Market Research:
Begin by researching the food delivery market in Dubai. Understand your target audience, competitors, and their offerings. Identify gaps or niches that your business can fill.
Business Plan:
Create a comprehensive business plan that outlines your business concept, target market, marketing strategy, financial projections, and operational plan. This will serve as your roadmap.
Legal Requirements:
Register your business with the relevant authorities in Dubai. This typically involves obtaining the necessary licenses and permits. Dubai's Department of Economic Development (DED) is responsible for business registration.
Choose a Business Model:
Decide whether you want to operate as a standalone food delivery service or partner with existing restaurants. Both models have their pros and cons. Partnering with restaurants may require less investment but could limit your control over the menu and quality.
Create a Menu:
If you are starting your own delivery-only kitchen (known as a "cloud kitchen" or "dark kitchen"), develop a menu that caters to your target audience's preferences. Ensure that your menu items can be prepared and delivered efficiently.
Location and Infrastructure:
Secure a suitable location for your kitchen, taking into consideration factors like proximity to your target market and access to delivery drivers. Equip your kitchen with the necessary appliances and technology for order management and food preparation.
Online Presence:
Build a user-friendly website and mobile app for customers to place orders. Invest in a robust online ordering and delivery management system. Consider partnerships with food delivery platforms like Zomato, Talabat, or UberEats for additional exposure.
Hiring and Training:
Recruit and train staff, including chefs, kitchen staff, delivery drivers, and customer service representatives. Ensure that your team understands food safety and customer service standards.
Food Safety and Quality Control:
Maintain high standards of food safety and quality. Regularly inspect your kitchen and delivery processes to ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.
Marketing and Promotion:
Create a marketing plan to attract customers. Use a mix of online and offline marketing strategies, such as social media advertising, influencer partnerships, and promotions. Encourage customer reviews and ratings to build trust.
Delivery Logistics:
Establish a reliable delivery network. Hire drivers or partner with third-party delivery services. Ensure timely and efficient delivery to maintain customer satisfaction.
Customer Feedback and Improvement:
Continuously gather customer feedback and reviews to improve your services. Adapt your menu and operations based on customer preferences and trends.
Financial Management:
Keep track of your finances diligently. Maintain accurate records of income and expenses. Monitor your cash flow and adjust your budget as needed.
Compliance and Regulations:
Stay updated on local regulations, especially those related to food safety, labor, and business licensing. Comply with tax obligations.
Scale and Expand:
Once your business is running smoothly and profitably, consider expanding to new areas or adding more kitchen locations to reach a broader customer base.
We, Lilac Infotech, are a pioneering food delivery app development firm that offers the potential for a variety of services to our consumers. What is cloud kitchen business model
A cloud kitchen, also known as a virtual kitchen, ghost kitchen, or dark kitchen, is a business model that revolves around preparing and delivering food exclusively for online orders. Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar restaurants, cloud kitchens operate without a physical dine-in space, focusing solely on production and delivery. This model has gained significant traction, especially with the rise in online food delivery platforms and changing consumer preferences. Here's a breakdown of the cloud kitchen business model:
Location: Cloud kitchens are often strategically located in areas with high demand for food delivery services. These locations might be in proximity to densely populated residential or office areas to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
Cost Savings: By eliminating the need for a traditional restaurant space with a dining area and front-of-house staff, cloud kitchens significantly reduce overhead costs. There's no need for interior design, furniture, and décor, and staffing requirements are usually focused on kitchen operations and delivery personnel.
Multiple Brands: Many cloud kitchen operators adopt a multi-brand approach. They might run multiple virtual restaurant concepts out of the same kitchen space, each offering a distinct cuisine or food type. This allows them to target a broader customer base and diversify their revenue streams.
Online Presence: Having a strong online presence is crucial for cloud kitchens. This includes not only being listed on popular food delivery apps and platforms but also maintaining an informative and engaging website or app for customers to place orders directly.
Technology and Ordering Platforms: Cloud kitchens rely heavily on technology to manage orders, streamline operations, and track deliveries. This includes using order management systems, kitchen management software, and integration with third-party delivery apps.
Data-Driven Decisions: Cloud kitchens can leverage data analytics to monitor customer preferences, order patterns, and popular menu items. This data can guide menu optimization, marketing strategies, and the creation of new offerings.
Delivery Logistics: An efficient and reliable delivery network is critical. Some cloud kitchens handle deliveries in-house, while others partner with third-party delivery services. Timely deliveries play a significant role in customer satisfaction and retention.
Marketing and Branding: Despite not having a physical storefront, cloud kitchens still need effective branding and marketing. This includes creating appealing menus, high-quality food imagery, and maintaining an active presence on social media platforms.
Quality Control: Maintaining consistent food quality is essential. This requires establishing standard operating procedures for cooking, packaging, and handling orders, ensuring that the food reaches customers in the best possible condition.
Regulatory Compliance: Cloud kitchens must adhere to local food safety and hygiene regulations, just like traditional restaurants. Regular health inspections and proper food handling practices are essential.
Scalability: One of the advantages of the cloud kitchen model is its scalability. It's relatively easier to expand operations by setting up additional kitchen spaces or partnering with existing ones to reach new areas and customer bases.
In summary, the cloud kitchen business model capitalizes on the growing demand for food delivery services, cost-efficient operations, and the ability to cater to diverse culinary preferences through multiple virtual brands. Successful implementation requires a strong online presence, operational efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and a commitment to maintaining food quality and customer satisfaction.

Fire Cider
This is what I started my herbalist journey with. Gathering the items and making sure I had enough of everything was a big effort, when I realized I needed everything around the same time and couldn't get everything at the store. Which is one thing that I realized as I continued my journey, I either need to find the items I need in the wild, grow my own, or order online and attempt to find the best price for the quality I wanted. I ended up ordering the items I couldn't get at the store, and waited until they arrived to get the rest of my items at the store.
Putting this together in the jar was an experience, and I wish I knew where the pictures were. All of the ingredients make the jar look beautiful before the first shake. I know you'll be hesitant to give it it's first shake, but to help the benefits infuse with the vinegar it's best to shake it then place it in your cool dark spot. I picked a cupboard in my kitchen, since I'm in the kitchen a lot of the time, making this the perfect spot to store it for the time being.
So, why should you make this? And what benefits will come from using this?
Both are wonderful questions, and ones that I'm hoping to be able to answer. People who make Fire Cider claim that it helps boost immune systems to help fight off infections and to keep you healthy. The ingredients in the cider sound like a bunch of nonsense, but there are healing properties in the ingredients. I don't plan on going into detail on all of them in this post. One day, I'm hoping to give them their own pages. I will go into detail on a few of them though.
Garlic is a known purifier.
Lemon can be a disinfectant.
Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory (I like to take turmeric pills when I have colds, it seems to kick the symptoms right out of me if I catch it early enough).
Apple Cider Vinegar can help even out pH in the stomach (or so I've read a while ago. I'll be researching this again to back up this claim in the future).
Honey not only is antimicrobial but can help soothe an irritated throat from a cough.
This isn't all of the ingredients, but I will be going back to research them more in depth at a later date. If you give this recipe a try, please let me know how it turns out. One thing to note is that there are several different versions of this recipe and the one I use is not the end all of all Fire Ciders. Find a recipe that works for you, or tweak it to suit your own needs. I'm excited to see what benefits everyone notices from making their own fire cider, and how it helps them.
Fire Cider
Ingredients
- 1 Large Red Onion, Chopped
- 3 Heads Garlic, Chopped
- 1 Lemon with Peel, Diced
- 1/2 Cup Fresh Ginger Rhizome, Grated
- 1/2 Cup Fresh Turmeric Rhizome, Grated
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Horseradish Root, Grated
- 1/4 Cup Fresh Thyme, Arial Parts, Chopped
- 2 Teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- A Few Fresh Cayenne or Jalapeno Peppers (optional)
- Honey To Taste (1/3 Cup)
- Raw Apple Cider Vinegar
- Half-Gallon Jar
Directions
Place all ingredients (except honey and vinegar) in a half-gallon jar, and cover with raw apple cider vinegar (cover herbs by a few inches).
Place a piece of natural wax paper over top of jar before tightly capping with lid.
Store in a dark cupboard for at least three weeks. Shake jar daily.
Strain herbs out of fire cider. Add warmed raw honey to taste, mix thoroughly and bottle.
Use within 6 months of bottling date.
To Use
Take 1 Tbsp. (half a shot), once a day as a tonic or up to 3 Tbsp. daily with active infection.
Notes
- Adding the wax paper between the cap and the liquid will help prevent the lid from rusting from the acid in the vinegar.
- The ingredients can be left to sit for a couple of months. This will make it a stronger concoction.
- The garlic may turn blue, this is a normal reaction.
- Sediment will form at the bottom. This can either be strained or shaken into the liquid before serving.
- Because the cider is made with a vinegar, equal parts water & fire cider can help
Observations
- When taken consistently, can help with infections
- A small dance after downing the shot can help the taste
- I'm terrible at consistency. This batch has lasted me over a year, and still seems to be going strong.
- We can store the cider in the fridge, but it makes the taste stronger

5 Steps To Creating A Perfect Food Truck Business Plan
Tumblr media
The correct food truck business plan might mean the difference between success and failure, whether you want to sell scorching hot pizzas in the city center or flavorful ice cream throughout the town.
A food truck business may be started for less money than many other small businesses, but it is not a definite way to become financially independent. You need to put in a lot of work, have a solid financial plan, and be very dedicated if you want to succeed in the food truck business.
Do not be concerned; we have you covered.
The next post will go through the five essential components a food truck business plan needs to have to succeed:
Set A Budget
Your top task must be creating a budget. You can't expect to run a successful business while shooting arrows in the dark. In your financial plan for a food truck business, you must account for both the startup expenditures and ongoing expenses of the venture.
The food truck will be the most costly item on your list. The truck charge will cover the price of the truck as well as the price of putting the mobile kitchen together.
Next, the cost of the items and the operating expenditures will be included in the daily expenses. These might include staff salaries, gasoline, maintenance, and food waste.
Choosing a marketing budget is another important decision. You may generate greater traction by promoting a couple of your posts on well-known social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. It will generate interest in your food truck, making you the topic of conversation even before you start moving.
Conduct Market Research
The basis of every successful food truck is accurate and thorough information. You will have access to a variety of information on customers, rivals, and the market as a whole. Before spending any time or money, it will also allow you to evaluate the practicality of your project.
Like other industries, the food industry is driven by its consumers. Choose a few fantastic areas where you'd want to work and look at the local population trends. Check the expectations of the clientele to see if the cuisine you've picked will suit them.
You must also pay attention to the time of day when locals often go shopping for food. It will be ideal to park your truck there around lunch hours to draw clients if you choose a corporate area because that is when it will be busiest. The hours in the evenings will be suitable for recreational locations like public parks.
Invest In A Quality Food Truck
The next item on your to-do list should be to purchase an excellent food truck with all the necessary cooking and service equipment. It must be adaptable enough to support productive work at peak hours.
Keep in mind that the reliability of your vehicle's mechanical components will be essential to your business. Therefore, be sure to get a car that is efficient and capable of withstanding your demanding schedule. A countertop food warmer, refrigerator, and housekeeping supplies are a few pieces of equipment you would want to add to your food truck.
To avoid accidents, take proper care of them and do routine maintenance. It will guarantee that your business continues to function smoothly and save you money on repairs from frequent breakdowns.
Get Permits
The majority of the licenses and permissions required to operate your food truck will be determined by the state in which you live. However, you must have a business license and a food service permit, at the very least. Contacting your local health board and learning exactly what you'll need is the best line of action.
You should look into any potential parking restrictions because food trucks cannot park anywhere. To find out the local laws, you can speak with the relevant authorities.
Think About Acquiring An Order Online System
It could be bad for your food truck business to just accept physical orders now when so many people still rely significantly on online ordering and delivery services.
On the other hand, if you start accepting internet orders, your sales will increase by double. To ensure that consumers don't have to wait too long for their meals, think about investing in a strong, feature-rich food truck ordering system.
Its Restaurant POS Integration System allows you to handle all of your orders on a single piece of software, which is its biggest feature.

Are Dark Kitchens And Ghost Kitchens The Same Thing?
youtube
As the 21st century has progressed, the eating place enterprise has witnessed a seismic extrude with the arrival of cutting-edge, App-ruled digital eating places, 3rd celebration aggregators, darkish kitchens, and ghost kitchens.
While a variety of those phrases are used interchangeably, they do have a few innate differences. But what’s common, though, is the usage of technological advances to perform an often digital enterprise version.
What precisely is a “dark kitchen”?
This millennium has witnessed the conventional eating place enterprise go through a sea of extruding. An extrude that has single-handedly been pushed via way of means of the enterprise of meals transport. As net penetration grew, have become cheaper, and extra accessible, and the cutting-edge-day “App- economy” (inclusive of 3rd celebration transport apps) proliferated, the phenomenon of ordering meals thru such ways grew leaps and bounds.
The fast boom of domestic deliveries spawned a wholly new enterprise version of the meals enterprise, namely “dark kitchens”. Essentially, that is a kitchen that produces meals without a bodily eating place in the front connected to it. All its meals are added to orders obtained online.
Just like any enterprise fashions in each enterprise, the dark kitchen enterprise version, too, has numerous blessings and limitations. But grasp on — what’s a darkish kitchen, precisely?
One concept, numerous names: Cloud kitchens, digital kitchens, ghost kitchens, transport-handiest, or dark kitchens — those are one-of-a-kind names for the equal thing. Whichever manner you select to name it, a darkish kitchen makes use of the equal enterprise version i.e. sells made-to-order meals or food thru transport for online orders obtained.
Such “kitchens” do now no longer have any seating for diners that need to consume onsite i.e. a conventional eating place. Their handiest deal with getting ready the meals as soon as the order has been obtained — for example, thru a web meals court, or a 3rd celebration transport app. Once the order is ready, the transport man or woman arrives to acquire it and whole the transport to the consumer’s address.
In a few cases, the choice for takeout i.e. permitting clients to choose up their order themselves is likewise supplied via way of means of dark kitchens.
How did dark kitchens originate?
Aided via way of means of the era and converting customer behavior, the meals enterprise unexpectedly has become a part of the burgeoning and more and more a success E-trade enterprise.
Success tales of online ordering corporations like Uber Eats opened the doorways for dark kitchens.
Thanks to the appearance and performance of those 3rd celebration transport apps, dark kitchens ought to now join effortlessly with their capacity clients and directly supply orders to their houses or places of work while not having to open storefronts.
Success brings fulfillment — and, because attracting clients and serving them profitably has come to be a lot less difficult, the delivery side (e.g. dark kitchens, small proprietor-owned eating places) has grown unexpectedly to hold up with the ever-growing call for online meals.
3rd party transport apps: fuelling dark kitchen boom
VCs have poured boatloads of finances into startups that can be put in place and developing meal transport systems. Dark kitchens are among the most up-to-date enterprise segments touted for fast boom and income this decade.
The unlucky introduction of COVID-19 pressured numerous bodily eating places to move stomachs up. Those that survived additionally reinvented themselves via way of means of (forcibly) adopting a cloud-kitchen version. They used their empty eating rooms for garage and operations, supplied pruned-down menus, meal kits, grocery delivers boxes (etc.) — essentially, the whole thing they may do to run a pickup, or transport, version.
However, even though sit-in eating is coming around again because the pandemic wanes, numerous such dine-in eating places have observed the advantages of jogging a cloud-kitchen enterprise thru virtual systems. Therefore, don’t count on the dark kitchen to abruptly die away each time soon! It’s right here to stay. Not the handiest has it added extra clients to the meals enterprise however each, dine-eating places and darkish kitchens have to settle right into a worthwhile co-life as time wears on.
Advantages of dark kitchens
Reduce overheads: no onsite seating cuts rentals, serving workforce now no longer needed
Experiment quicker: with new menus, meal choices, and concepts. Those that fail may be discarded fast and new ones tried
Target a couple of consumer segments: the equal kitchen can put together numerous digital manufacturers. Makes it less difficult to broad-base your offering, serve a much wider variety of clients, and reap quicker and more profitability
Virtual eating places vs. Dark kitchens
While the 2 names are used interchangeably, neither has a bodily presence, and each exists basically for pickup or transport thru online ordering, there are a few key differences:
Virtual eating places (often known as cloud eating places) tend to be new manufacturers that perform out of eating places/kitchens that already exist
Dark kitchens (digital kitchens, ghost kitchens) too, exist handiest online however usually perform from their bodily kitchen — they don’t perform out of present eating places/kitchens
What are a few critical tenets for fulfillment in this enterprise?
Let’s have a take a observe a few key components:
1. Location, location, location: Don’t neglect about you don’t have any consumer footfall as an ordinary eating place might and are depending on online orders. Therefore, a robust match might be to have a maximum of your clients inside a 3-five mile radius — this guarantees the meals are fresh, and the transport instances are quick (and, transport expenses minimal).
Make certain you study all critical elements like present competition, vicinity demographics, spending power, and in all likelihood favored cuisines (etc.)
2. Use accurate era: Needless to say, it’s miles the surprise of cutting-edge era systems like SaaS, App-economy, facts analytics (etc.) that have created this marketplace space. Therefore, choosing the perfect technological answers is vital to fulfillment. Some critical considerations:
Decide on whether or not to apply 3rd celebration providers (aggregators) or to run your transport service. Naturally, everyone has their blessings and limitations. A complicated community of transport companions vs. margin erosion; journey off of third-celebration promotions vs. being chargeable for advertising yourself; dealing with your order success vs. transferring the obligation to an aggregator are only a few troubles that paintings properly or come to be extra difficult primarily based totally in your option
Several ghost kitchens select to apply 3rd celebration operators or aggregators. An instant advantage of that is that it permits you to enjoy the scale and performance of their strategies because it aggregates orders from a couple of systems. This streamlines your order control procedure greatly. You get hold of all orders thru a single, unified device as towards having to preserve separate, disjointed structures for every one of your companions. Consolidation allows performance, clarity, and decreased running expenses
3. Marketing is vital-to-fulfillment: The significance of advertising, messaging, and emblem introduction for a dark kitchen or digital eating place can’t be confused enough! Remember, you’re what your clients see — and, perceive — of you online.
There isn’t any signage, neon lights, or fancy boards “upfront”. Your emblem character throughout social media, meal pictures, e-mail advertising, and online store-the-front presence on virtual systems (etc.) is what’s going to win — or, lose — your clients in a fiercely aggressive marketplace.
4. Shed your fear: You can relax confident that dark kitchens aren’t going everywhere each time soon! If you are taking the perfect steps in jogging your cloud kitchen — which include the use of the perfect era, powerful advertising methods, segmenting your clients correctly, etc. — this marketplace now represents a big opportunity!
As can be seen, there are several advantages to operating a dark kitchen in today’s tech-driven society. Make sure you utilize the greatest last-mile delivery software, which is current and automated.

Is it possible to buy cabinet doors online?
For homeowners, a remodelling or kitchen cabinet refacing job might be stressful. You'll need to find supplies for the project in addition to choosing hardware, fixtures, colours, and other stuff. Even on smaller tasks, transporting everything to the job site might be a hassle.
All of the cabinet doors, drawer fronts, drawer boxes, and cabinet boxes can be ordered online and shipped right to your door to assist homeowners and professionals. This eliminates the need to arrange a trip to the hardware shop, and it may also eliminate the need to borrow or hire a pickup truck. While the professionals ensure that your order comes on time, you will have more time to plan and work on your project. We'll show you how simple it is to get new or Custom Cabinet Door Replacements from Cabinet Door Supply.
 Cabinet Door Style Search
When it comes to selecting your next Furniture Cabinet Doors, the hundreds of possibilities available can rapidly overwhelm you. As a result, you can search our collection by cabinet style using our simplified ordering system. These range from broad  categories such as painted cabinet doors to narrower ones such as Shaker cabinet doors.
1-Flat Panel Cabinet Doors: Flat panel cabinet doors are a  terrific alternative for people interested in transitional and farmhouse styles. These Cabinets Fronts are often designed with a minimalist  approach to detail, making them ideal for generating clean lines throughout the kitchen. The ever-popular Shaker cabinet door is the best example of this style.
Tumblr media
2-Slab Cabinet Doors: Slab-style cabinet doors work well in both modern and traditional kitchens. This may come as a shock to some. Slab doors in fashionable colours and materials are frequently used to create stunning modern interiors. Your design will be considerably closer to a homey, traditional style if you employ a natural finish to accentuate the beauty of the wood species.
3-Raised Panel Cabinet Doors: Traditional and transitional styles benefit from raised panel cabinet doors. Many of these doors have intricate designs and exquisite details. Raised panel cabinet doors can be fantastic for refined heritage with a dark finish  and complementary hardware. Raised panel cabinet doors, on the other hand, have been experimenting with more basic designs in recent years. Transitional kitchen designs can benefit from these more modern raised panel doors.
4-Glass Cabinet Doors: While not suitable for every kitchen cabinet, adding a few glass cabinet doors can be a simple solution to brighten and open up your space. They can achieve this  because glass front doors serve to extend the lines  of sight to the back of your cabinet boxes, making the space appear larger. However, to get the most out of your glass cabinet doors, you'll need to put them properly.
 Choose a Construction Material
After you've decided on a door style, you may choose the material that will be utilised to make the door.
Solid Wood: Solid wood cabinetry has been and continues  to be the gold standard in kitchen cabinetry. Solid wood is a wise investment for your kitchen because it has the greatest lifespan when properly cared for. Furthermore, depending on your home and the local market, adding solid wood cabinets to your home can potentially boost its worth.
Thermofoil is a heated and pressured vinyl laminate that is applied to an MDF core. For several reasons, Thermofoil is an excellent choice. The first is that they are completely done when they come. You won't have to worry about painting or staining as a result. Thermofoil cabinet doors are also available in a  wide range of colours and textures, making them suitable for practically any kitchen design. Finally, at higher sizes, the MDF core protects the door from warping and bending.
Medium-Density Fiberboard (MDF): Due to its widespread availability and low cost, MDF has become  one of the most popular building materials. MDF is an excellent choice for painting because of its smooth surface. MDF has the disadvantage of being unable to be stained due to its lack of grain. We provide an MDF panel with a paintable hardwood frame if you prefer real wood but want a more cost-effective solution.
You now have everything you need for the project in your shopping cart. Whatever style you choose,Custom Built Cabinet Doors are a terrific way to  give your kitchen a fresh, new feel almost immediately.

Dean Winchester hates mornings.
It might have something to do with the four hours of sleep that precede them. Or perhaps the lingering memories of dragging a grumpy, petulant 12-year-old Sam out of bed for school when he was still an equally grumpy, petulant kid himself. Or maybe he just isn't wired to handle the early hours.
Whatever it is, Dean Winchester hates mornings.
And yet, he still wakes up early every day.
Drags his ass out of bed with a grumble and a sigh. Keeps his curses as quiet as possible so he doesn't wake Cas beside him. Scrubs at the sleep making his eyes gritty. Shuffles into a pair of pajama bottoms and his slippers with a disgruntled huff, like having to deal with the early morning chill is one of life's greatest inconveniences.
At the doorway, Dean pauses and looks back. Cas is still blissfully unconscious, his breathing slow and heavy and relaxed. The second Dean got out of bed he snagged all the blankets and cocooned himself in them, but by now his hand is out, searching for Dean so he can wrap his arm around him again. When it fails to find him, it curls around Dean's pillow. Cas buries his nose in it and lets out a tiny coo of contentment.
Dean smiles, his heart so full it aches. For just a second, he considers crawling back into bed with Cas. Succumbing to his hatred of mornings and going back to sleep with Cas nuzzled up against him like Dean is his personal teddy bear.
But he doesn't. He shuts the door behind him as quietly as possible and shambles down the hallway.
Dean's not quite firing on all cylinders without coffee in his system, so he bangs his shoulder on the doorway as he rounds the corner into the kitchen, and he swears a blue streak on his way to the sink. He's still grumbling under his breath as he grabs the lid of Sam's shaker bottle from the side of the sink and washes it with as much malcontent as he can muster. Sam always forgets to wash it when he rinses out his bottle, and Dean always has to clean it the next morning so Sam doesn't get yesterday's nasty protein shake crap mixed in with today's. He sets it beside the clean bottle and makes himself some coffee.
It's not long after the smell of fresh coffee fills the kitchen when Sam walks in, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and wearing running clothes like the health freak he is. "Hey."
Dean grunts in acknowledgement. Words are for after coffee. Sam starts making himself a protein shake without so much as a 'thank you' for cleaning his lid. Hell, he's probably not even aware Dean does it for him.
"Oh, can you do extra spinach in my omelette? Gotta use it up; it's getting kinda wilted," Sam asks on his way out the door, like it's a given Dean will make him an omelette. Because it is a given. Five people in the bunker and someone needs to make breakfast for them all. Might as well be Dean. "And tomatoes?"
"Yeah yeah, have it your way, Burger King," Dean grouses as he pours himself a mug of coffee. He dumps what's left and fills the carafe with more water.
"Awesome, thanks." And then Sam's gone off to do horrifying morning activities like jogging.
Dean, however, is doing something even more horrifying. He fills the coffee maker with pumpkin spice flavored coffee and grimaces. But God help him, Cas loves the stuff. And Dean loves Cas, so he'll make him some freakin' pumpkin spice coffee. Though this is the only point in the entire day when he questions his love for Cas. Just a little bit.
As nutmeg and cinnamon fill the air, Dean chugs his respectable cup of plain ol' dark roast and browses the contents of the refrigerator.
Blueberries. He should use those up too. Dean plucks them, some eggs, some butter, some milk, and all of the stuff for Sam’s atrocious vegetable omelette from the fridge.
Jack comes shuffling in while Dean is mixing up blueberry pancake batter, looking sleepy but chipper. He looks even happier when he sees what Dean’s cooking. “Excellent timing! Chop Sam’s tomatoes for me,” Dean commands before Jack even has a chance to say a ‘good morning!’ or grab some juice. The coffee is finally kicking in and dragging him into full wakefulness, but the patient parts of Dean’s brain don’t come online until at least 9am.
Eileen isn’t far behind Jack, but she takes one look at Dean with his spatula and Jack at the cutting board and immediately backs out of the kitchen. “Sorry! Dunno what you’re saying!” she shouts as she retreats, as if she expected Dean to try calling out orders after her. “I’m gonna shower!” Dean sighs and shakes his head. Probably for the best. She handles produce and a chef's knife the same way she does with vampires and a machete.
“Hello, Dean. Jack.” Cas drags himself into the kitchen with half-open eyes. His sleep-rough voice is adorable. The wild shock of hair standing up on one side, even moreso.
“Mornin’ Sunshine!” Dean croons at full volume, like he does every morning, because he’s kind of an asshole and secretly likes the way Cas scowls at Dean’s energy as he makes a cup of his terrible pumpkin spice coffee.
Cas comes up behind Dean and rests his chin over his shoulder to watch him cook, like he’s too tired to even bother holding up his own head. Dean has to be careful how he moves his arm so he doesn’t burn himself on Cas’ hot mug, but he’d be lying if he said this wasn’t one of his favorite parts of the day. Cas tucked up against his back, sleep hazy and warm from their shared bed, those beautiful blues blinking owlishly as Dean makes food for their family.
“Sure you don’t want any?” he asks, pointing down at the griddle even though he knows the answer already.
“No, too early to eat,” Cas grunts by his ear. “Coffee is enough. It smells delicious though.” He tilts his head down to press a gentle kiss to Dean’s shoulder before he pulls away to slouch down in a chair and finish waking up.
By the time Dean finishes breakfast, Sam and Eileen have filtered in too, completing their packed table. For a brief moment it’s utter chaos as everyone grabs plates of food and cutlery and coffee and juice, but before Dean can blink everyone is settled, chowing down on their breakfast or quietly drinking their awful flavored coffee. Dean lets out a weary sigh and sinks down into a chair next to Cas with his own stack of pancakes. It’s way too early to feel this tired.
Almost immediately Cas tilts sideways until he’s using Dean as a headrest again. "I don't see how you can stand getting up so early," Cas says around a slow sip of his coffee. He closes his eyes in appreciation and hums softly.
Dean glances around the table. At Sam, his overly long hair plastered to his sweaty forehead, scrolling through his phone as he shovels egg white omelette into his mouth like he's starving for it. At Eileen, a pleased grin on her face as her closed fist moves in a circle in front of her, her thumb pointed down over her stack of pancakes. At Jack, watching her intently as she teaches him a new sign, his fork suspended halfway to his mouth until a bite of pancake falls off it and smacks onto the table, making Eileen laugh.
At his family, fed and caffeinated and content, ready to start their days because Dean took the extra time to get things off on the right foot.
"I dunno," Dean says with a shrug as he passes Jack the bottle of syrup. He grins. "I kinda like mornings."

Coffee & Meetings
Relationship: Dark!Bucky Barnes x Innocent!Reader Warnings: stalking, drugging TW, manipulation, Summary: Prequel to Pastries & Memories - Bucky sees you day after day at a bakery and decides you’re just perfect for him. All from Bucky’s POV. A/N: someone suggested this on ao3 and i really liked that idea so I hope i did it well! I am thinking about expanding this to a bit of a mini-series... :)
Masterlist
Six months earlier…
He first saw you on a Monday. A bright, sunny, lovely Monday morning. He hadn’t even been looking for you — hell, he hadn’t really been looking for anyone.
Bucky was planted at a little table in the corner of a coffee shop, sipping on a dark roast, watching people come and go on the sidewalk. It had become his new morning routine, an interesting yet annoying suggestion from his therapist. She had become concerned he was too into his previous routine. She wanted him to step out of it for a bit, expand horizons, maybe even find a hobby. The craziest thing he had done yet was this — drinking overpriced coffee at a local shop.
He had to admit, it wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Sometimes he looked forward to this new start to his day. Everyone at the shop was always nice to him, amazingly. They didn’t mind him dilly-dallying, nursing his coffee, as he people watched. They even had a bakery attached which was part of the attraction to the place for Bucky. He had smelled their pastries one morning and was hooked.
As Bucky sat watching the people, he was contemplating getting an almond croissant to go when something caught his attention. From the corner of his eye, like a little flash, he had seen someone that made him perk up.
It was her. It was you. You were standing in front of the bakery entrance debating on going in. You looked between the coffee and the bakery sign. You checked your phone then you walked in. Bucky watched as you entered the bakery, your face bright with the kindest smile he had ever seen as you greeted the cashier. He didn’t have to hear your voice to know it was contagiously joyous.
You were like a little tease standing around all those baked goods, flicking your hair over your shoulder as you pointed at which donut you wanted. Bucky suddenly felt hungry for something else. Especially when you bent over to point at the strawberry glaze on the bottom row.
But then you were gone as fast as you had come. He watched you from the window as you got back on the path to wherever you were headed, he guessed your job. Your hair blew in the wind. Your skirt bounced as you walked proudly, your hand grasping the box of donuts tightly.
Oh, yeah, Bucky thought, this new routine was definitely what he needed.
***
You quickly became the most exciting part of Bucky’s day.
With his cup of coffee and hawk-like gaze, he’d sit at the little coffee shop table, watching the world outside the window. You’d come strolling by fairly early, looking so classy and professional. He figured you worked in an office which seemed very unnecessary for a girl like you. You didn’t need to work, he decided. You were too beautiful, clearly too bright, for that.
But you never seemed to recognize this yourself since you were constantly strutting past in your blouse and skirt, stopping in every day to collect some new pastry for your coworkers.
The way you talked to the bakery staff was what really won Bucky over. You were so gentle and patient when the kid behind the counter fumbled with the boxes or accidentally grabbed the wrong item. You’d still shoot them your lovely smile and make light conversation as they rang you up.
You were too generous, especially noted by the strawberry cake you had purchased one more for your work. Whoever was on the other end of your kindness better appreciate it, Bucky thought. He also didn’t miss your obvious love for strawberries.
Bucky watched you for a while, almost for two whole months, in that coffee shop seat drinking in every inch of you. The baristas didn’t seem to mind his lingering. He always made sure to order two cups as some sort of compensation for letting him sit there and watch his girl. Yes — his girl, that was what he had marked you as in his mind. You hadn’t noticed him yet but Bucky wasn’t sweating it. All in due time, he silently promised you.
It took Bucky a few days to gather what was needed. You still weren’t noticing him but he was way past being bothered by that. He had been screwed by life enough to know that sometimes you just have to take what you want. Sitting around waiting and hoping was for men who had patience. He was over it. Little worked out for him so now he had to make it work.
The morning of the commencement of the plan, Bucky stood in his kitchen double-checking the items needed. Content with it, he carefully drew up the correct amount of light sedation into the syringe. It wasn’t anything crazy and apparently affected the mind first, body second. You’d be on autopilot for a bit, walking more like someone who was just having a rough day. But that wouldn’t be an issue because Bucky would be there. He’d be able to escort you to his apartment, simply appearing as the concerned, protective boyfriend among the sidewalk pedestrians. He got a bit giddy just thinking about it.
Moments after you were properly sedated, he’d need to administer you another drug in a timely manner. This one would be focused on memory loss. He’d discovered it on some corner of the black market while originally on the look for types of sedation. Apparently, this drug was part of some sort of failed spy mission in Europe. The seller swore it boasted good results, citing studies conducted. Bucky looked into it and agreed. After some clumsy navigation in the world of online shopping, it was his within a few days. The concoction seemed like it would do that job.
The goal was to pretty much scramble your brain just a little bit. Nothing crazy like making you totally forget key components of yourself but still hit a point where you didn’t have enough to fight Bucky’s word on, well, anything. This drug wore off, though, so he would have to come up with ways to get it in your system over the course of your relationship. It was still worth it to him. He wasn’t stripping you off your personality, just some little details here and there. You’d still be his shining girl, just only now focused on him.
The final items laid out were various feet of rope. Bucky was being overly cautious with this. He didn’t know if anything actually was going to work. What if you woke up and realized you weren’t in your apartment? That you were being watched over by a stranger? You were bound to panic but he understood that. If need be, he could restrain you while he figured out the right way to go about it all. It would never be to hurt you, of course — in fact, he felt it was more for your safety than anything.
After another run of the mental checklist, Bucky gathered the syringe and headed out to the coffee shop. The idea was fairly simple. After you came in for a box of pastries, he’d head out behind you, try to chat you up a bit. He had some old moves he could flex. Once you got comfortable enough, he’d make the move and then lights out. By the end of that day, you’d be making yourself comfortable in his apartment.
Bucky practically fawned over the idea as he walked. He had taken some steps earlier in the week to add some things for you in the apartment like ladies’ toiletries and new outfits. He had even finally purchased a real couch. All for you, so you could have a home. A real home. With him.
Bucky was still lost in his daydream as he sat in the coffee shop, looking between the clock and the window. He waited and waited and waited. The syringe growing heavier and heavier in his pocket as the seconds went by.
The clock struck a new hour. Something Bucky never planned for was unfolding: it didn’t look like you were coming today. He almost about lost it there. Almost went into the streets stomping away in anger. Everything was perfect, how could you just be the only missing piece? Did something happen? Were you okay? Gosh, he should’ve got to you sooner—
Your hair suddenly came into view. You were walking furiously, just glancing at the bakery this time before deciding not to go in. You looked anxious which certainly wasn’t like you. He wanted to crush whatever was making you feel such a way. But Bucky had to snap his thoughts back. You weren’t coming into the bakery. He wouldn’t be able to follow you out, to casually build-up to this moment. His heart was pounding. He panicked.
In a moment of stupid impulsivity, Bucky quickly left the coffee shop and began racing to catch up to you. He took long strides, quite amazed by how fast you walked in those heels, but it didn’t take him very long to now be right on your tail. Few more steps and he was able to pop up right in front of you. You jumped at his sudden presence. Bucky smiled, finding you so amusing.
"Sorry to bother you, ma’am, but I think you dropped something." He lied through his teeth so gloriously, way too easily. It was just the right comment to get you to stop in your tracks but didn’t completely scare you off.
Your brows furrowed, adorably confused. You looked down, searching for whatever it could be. "I’m sorry, sir, but I don’t think I did."
Sir. The word stuck with him a bit. Maybe after some coaxing, you could always be calling him that. Bucky didn’t have much time to think about this, though, as you began to step around him. You had taken his moment of silence as a way to evade him. Smart, but frustrating. A mix of annoyance and anger shot through him. He grabbed your arm and pulled you into him quickly. You let out a yelp in surprise. He ignored it and before you could ask any questions, the syringe was plunged into your neck. To outsiders, it looked like a couple in some weird embrace, but to Bucky, it was just the beginning of something beautiful.
He got you back to his apartment fairly easily after that. You were eventually out cold and the next step of the process could begin. He was pretty much banking on the memory loss solution. Not a very religious man, Bucky still said a silent prayer as he administered it.
He took a step back from his bed, watching you look so at home knocked out on it. It was a wonderful sight, one he was saving in the back of his mind, even though he’d now see it every single day. Feeling quite content with how smoothly that all had gone, he had nothing to do now but wait for you to wake up.
Bucky took this free time as a chance to begin cutting off connections you had. Thankfully, your bag held your laptop along with other necessities like your phone and wallet. He was pretty thankful he wouldn’t have to try to get into your work to grab your devices. That would rely too heavily on whether or not you overshared. No one would believe he was the concerned boyfriend if just last week you ranted about how single you were.
Sliding onto a stool at his kitchen counter, Bucky set up your laptop. The first thing he noticed was your lack of password. You were too trustful, too good, and that was only example A. Bucky suddenly felt so relieved he had you in the safety of his apartment. There were lunatics out there.
Bucky navigated your laptop fairly easily. While he was pretty new to the technology scene, he could at least find the basics and you weren’t exactly running some government-level device. With a few simple taps and clicks, he was writing out messages to your boss and family.
He put in your letter of resignation, something short and vague, to your boss at the public relations firm you were an assistant at. Lower level work, not even anywhere near the big dogs. No wonder you constantly brought in treats for everyone. You were hoping your kindness would get you ahead. Bucky shook his head at your naivety.
A simple Google search showed him you were not the only assistant to the head of the firm. You probably wouldn’t be missed. The pastries, maybe, but you? An assistant? Someone would take your place within the week. Bucky was turning out much better for you than he had realized. He mentally patted himself on the back as he moved onto looking into your family.
Scrolling through your email contacts, it appeared you only had a sister for immediate family. No mentions of parents and… sure enough, another search brought up an obituary for your mother. No mention of a father. Even better, he thought. You needed that strong, guiding force.
A few scrolls through your current email thread with your sister and Bucky found out she was studying abroad. Could this all get any better? Nothing was in the immediate area of a threat. He responded back to the last email your sister had sent. Copying your language the best he could, he dropped some hints that you wanted a vacation. In just a few more exchanges he could drop the news that you were off in paradise. Correspondence could easily fizzle out and your sister would be too caught up in her European dream to notice an absence.
If this ever called for any more attention, Bucky figured he could easily invite her over. It’d take some training but you’d eventually remember your sister — or, what Bucky would plant in your head about her — then you’d happily host a dinner. Introduce your two favorite people to one another. He bought himself enough time to spend with you.
Of course, Bucky realized he got very lucky with you. He had done some minimal research beforehand but everything had been behind sign-in walls. He didn’t know if he was really ready to break into social media and instead decided to risk it. If all had gone to shit, like you having a real big, caring family or a prestigious job, there wasn’t anything a little talking couldn’t fix.
But Bucky had also kind of already knew you as he watched you day in and day out. He had felt that dire need to be comforted, to be loved, to be cared for, to be protected behind those cheery smiles and generous small talk. You always tried too hard as if you needed everyone in the world to love you, to praise you. That wasn’t it at all. You just needed him. And he needed you.
Lost in his dreamy thoughts, Bucky nearly jumped out of his skin (leave it to you to be the first person to actually scared him) when your soft voice called from the bedroom doorway.
"Excuse me," You said, nervously fidgeting as you slowly walked from the hall into the kitchen. "W-What’s going on?"
Bucky shut your laptop quickly and hopped down from the stool. He gave you a warm smile which you seemed to try to return. So obedient and caring already and you didn’t even know why — yet.
"Hey, doll," he said, keeping his voice steady and gentle. "You okay? You laid down for a nap earlier. I was worried you were getting sick." He placed a hand on your forehead pretending to check your temperature. Thankfully, you allowed it. After a moment, he pulled his hand away with a curious hum.
You frowned, obviously confused, much more than you were earlier. You looked totally clueless at the situation. It was the best reaction Bucky could’ve ever hoped for.
You glanced around the living space. "I- Yeah, I think I’m alright… I’m sorry, I can’t seem to remember much. Who are you?"
Bucky chuckled, "I’m your boyfriend. Bucky. And this is our apartment. You remember, don’t you, honey? Maybe you’re just still a bit sleepy."
He watched as you blinked a few times, probably wrestling with whether to admit you really didn’t remember anything or to go with the lie. If you were a good girl, like he predicted, you’d settle with the lie.
"Oh." You bit your lip and eventually nodded. Jackpot. "Of course. Again, I’m sorry. I must’ve been really tired." You glanced over at the clock. It read just before noon. "I’m a bit hungry. Would you like anything, B-Bucky?"
He smiled. "A sandwich would be great, doll."
You nodded once in acknowledgment then began hunting for everything you needed in the kitchen. You looked a bit confused at first but slowly Bucky saw you get the hang of it. He took his place at the kitchen counter again, sliding the laptop out of your sight.
He sat there waiting and observing as his new girl began making him lunch. It was a sight he had dreamed of, but Bucky also knew this was too perfect too soon. You were bound to stumble within time but that was okay. He would have to fine-tune the details later but he was already complying some ideas on how to shape you into who you were destined to be.
Yes, he had a long way to go, but it would all be worth it if he got to come home to you standing in his kitchen whipping up a special treat like the sweetest housewife to ever exist. Because that certainly would be the next step down the line — making you his darling wife.

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: yandere, obsession, home invasion, allusion to stalking and non-con.
Words: 1987.
Summary: Having to deal with Bucky Barnes, a talented head engineer who you have to convince cooperating with your boss, you suddenly discover his psychopathic tendencies. Worse, he has taken an eerie interest in you.
_______________________
“Listen, dear, I know what he asks for seems like something very inappropriate, but, in fact, the guy just likes you and-”
“No, Mr. Simons, he doesn’t just like me.” You snapped, bringing the cellphone closer your face. “This madman asked me to be at his disposal any time he wants. Please, don’t try to convince me it’s okay because this is madness.”
“I know, I know, he sounds like a psycho, but he’s not. Mr. Barnes is just... difficult. He needs to work on his communicational skills, he admitted it himself during our meeting today.” Your boss - or rather your ex-boss - was almost pleading you to listen to him, but you had enough of this nonsense. Nothing could change your mind after yesterday’s humiliating encounter with James Buchanan Barnes, the head engineer of HYDRA Corp.
“Sir, I have already submitted the resignation form. I perfectly understand the position you are in, but I’m not going to become a toy of this psychopatic man-child.” You answered firmly, looking at your lovely blue clock on the wall and knowing it was too late for any work calls. “Goodbye, Mr. Simons. Have a nice evening.”
Before he tried saying anything else to make you change your decision, you had turned your phone off and put it on your desk, sighing. You could never imagined one day you would face a situation like that.
Yes, when your boss got a promotion, you were truly happy for him. It also meant that you, his secretary, would now get a different type of tasks since you worked more like his personal assistant rather than someone who simply answered the phone calls and built his schedule. A raise was also quite nice. What you didn’t expect was having issues with Bucky, the genius the whole corporation knew about. He was that very same man HYDRA owed its success to as his innovative approach made the company widely known in the whole world for its - his - active protection systems. Barnes was now working on the brand new weapon system control, but he had never submitted sufficient reports, and, apparently, the previous executive left exactly because of Bucky and his wild temperament.
Despite the fact that he was a legendary figure, you had never met him or dealt with him directly. And since now Barnes became your boss’ pain, he became yours, too.
First, it was impossible to set a meeting with him directly. Mr. Simons wanted to take care of this issue himself and emailed Bucky multiple times, but always got the same dry answer that Barnes is too busy. Of course, he never answered any calls - until it was you calling him. Oddly, he was eager to talk to you. It took you just two calls to organize an online meeting for your boss, and, finally, yesterday you got to see the mysterious genius with your own eyes.
He was nothing like you expected. He wasn’t some skinny geek wearing glasses on his long nose, but a beefy man, his shoulders twice wider than your boss’. Barnes had dirty disheveled hair and a three-days beard, but, aside from that, he looked more like a star athlete rather than a nerdy engineer. He dressed in a pretty weird fashion, wearing tight t-shirts, leather pants, chains and heavy studded boots, but criticizing his style wasn’t a part of your job. You needed the reports he refused to submit and get him to attend the meetings.
Of course, he blamed everything on too many bureaucratic procedures and lack of time for anything but his new project. Even while speaking to the two of you he was pacing back and force in his laboratory, fetching this and that, fiddling with something that looked like a futuristic gun from one of Scott Ridley’s movies, his table full of screws and nails, markers, dirty papers, and metal parts of something you couldn’t recognize. Now you could see the true technological genius everyone was talking about.
However, you weren’t satisfied with the lack of information he was willing to give about his project. Barnes had a ridiculous amount of privileges, able to order whatever supplies he needed without anyone’s approval and working in a total secrecy, but HYDRA’s board of directors was growing tired of his reticence and temper tantrums Barnes was throwing every time someone tried to uncover his secrets. The career of your boss was at stake, and you needed Bucky to cooperate. You doubted the company would be willing to get rid of its most valuable employee, but the board of directors could easily limit his access to many of his beloved projects and make his life much more difficult.
Discussing the endless possibilities of what could happen if Barnes still refused to cooperate, you realized he wasn’t worried even the slightest bit. But he agreed to submit the reports if 1) he would get the team of engineers he picked by himself to help him with his project, regardless of whether they are involved with other things 2) he would get you “at his disposal any time he wanted”. Of course, at first you thought it was some kind of weird joke. Who in a right state of mind would ask for anything like this? You tried to laugh it off along with your boss, who was as shocked as you.
Then you figured out Barnes was dead serious. He wanted you.
Of course, you weren’t having it. Maybe your boss career was at stake, but it was his business, not yours. If the only thing he could offer you was being Barnes’ toy for the sake of the corporation, you would prefer to leave your place and find a position somewhere else.
How could he even suggest submitting to that psycho? Who did he think you were? A doll? A disposable Barbie or something? Even thinking of that was making you furious.
Sighing, you dropped your phone on the table and went to the kitchen to have a glass of wine. Despite the fact that you had already submitted the resignation form, you still needed to keep working before Mr. Simons would find a new secretary. It meant you would hear him pleading you to stay every day, and it wasn’t going to be nice. This damn Barnes made your life insufferable with just a couple of sentences.
Of course, you weren’t going to keep calling Bucky or trying to talk to some sense into him. Fuck that. Barnes was totally mad, and you weren’t having more of his bullshit.
Suddenly, the lights went out, and you stilled, growing in frustration. What the hell? You had to carefully put an empty glass back on the counter and move to your room again to take the phone. Glancing out of the window, you saw that it was just your apartment while others had light in them. Oh, perfect.
“Why do I pay for all this new technology that never works?” You growled in frustration, rooting around to find your phone.
“That’s a good question. To be honest, I wouldn’t.”
You froze. Somebody was in your room. Turning around quickly, you had finally found your phone and touched the screen - the subtle blue glowing lit Barnes’ gloomy face, and for a few seconds he narrowed his eyes as your phone blinded him.
Fuck.
“What are you doing here?” You whispered in terror, stepping away from him and visibly shaking. God, how did he get through the security system? You had just installed a pretty expensive one, made by...
By HYDRA Corp.
“You see, your security system has so many drawbacks I hacked it even without a proper preparation. You have to consider switching to something more solid.” He said calmly as he made a step towards you. In the darkness of the room he looked even more intimidating with his long dark hair hanging on his eyes, his huge figure looming over you as you ended up being pressed to the wall. “You know, since you were so enthusiastic in the beginning, I expected you to act... more professional.”
You didn’t know what to say. You were trapped between the wall and Barnes’ body as you stared into his face, terrified to the core. What was he doing here? Did he break into your home just because you refused him? Was he damn insane?
Oh yes. Yes, Barnes was.
“You know, we can have so much fun together if you just leave your pathetic boss and come play with me.” He tilted his head to the side, letting his disheveled hair fall on his broad shoulder and taking away the phone from your hand. “You’re a smart girl, aren’t you? I know how much you’re doing while Simons pretends it’s all him. Aren’t you tired of it?”
Well, it was true. Your boss had finally offered you a promotion after you would take care of Barnes issue, so you didn’t complain, waiting for your chance. It was all over now.
“And what do you suggest?” You asked, knowing you needed to somehow get away from this psycho and run to the door.
“Take care of me instead of him.”
You clenched your teeth as Barnes got closer, almost touching the tip of your nose with his, his icy blue eyes fixated on you. You felt the strong smell of cigarettes coming from him and winced from this unwanted intimacy. Barnes was too close to let you get away.
“What do you mean? I don’t think you need a secretary.” You played innocent, not looking him into eyes and staring at something on your right. Now your eyes almost adjusted to the darkness surrounding you.
“I can get you a better position, baby. A project manager, huh? You will ensure me and my team do things right.” His hot breath was burning your skin as Bucky nuzzled against your cheek, making you squirm. “You’ll be the one overseeing the development of a new system, and I get to have you close all the time. Besides, your paycheck gonna be way bigger. Isn’t it nice?”
“I don’t think I have sufficient skills for this job.” You mumbled meekly, squeezing your eyes shut when he put his hand on your shoulder gently. “The Corporation won’t allow me to take this position.”
There was a smug grin on his face. “Oh dear, you’re perfect for the job, I know it. And don’t you worry about the Board of Directors, I can be quite... persuasive.” As he smiled at you, you were ready to cry in front of him, so frightened and almost hysterical.
“What do you want from me, Barnes?” You pleaded in distress, tired and scared of the game he was playing with you.
He took your arm in his and made you move to the bed, forcing you to sit down while he hovered over you, brushing his long hair out of his face and tucking one of his locks behind the ear. Then Barnes cupped your chin with his hand, making you look directly at him.
“Come play with me, baby.” He cooed gently at you, wiping away a tear running down your cheek. “I want you close. Come to me. Talk to me. Have fun with me. I’m not asking much, am I?”
“We’ve only met yesterday. Why-”
You heard him chuckling and got silent immediately. You didn’t like that creepy smile on his face. Why did he look like you were wrong? You knew for sure you didn’t meet him before - who could possibly forget someone like Bucky Barnes - but his smile was telling you that he knew you from somewhere before your yesterday’s encounter. Where else could he meet you? You had no idea.
“It’s alright, dear. You’ll have enough time to know me better.” Barnes whispered, rubbing your chin with his thumb and closing the distance between the two of you. “We’re gonna have lots of fun together.”

Tumblr media
Summary: Your assignment is clear; observe and do not interact. But you’ve done enough jobs to know what’s going to happen. Except nothing about your current assignment is normal.
Pairing: Jungkook x gender-neutral reader/shapeshifter reader
Genre: Sci-fi (I guess), action, mystery.
Prompt: “Without a name to myself, I still revolve around you.” (134340)
Word count: 1.4k
Warning: The whole premise is that YN is sent to kill Jungkook (well, eventually anyway). There is a gun at the end, but it does not get used. It’s kind of implied that things could get violent but it’s left open-ended. But yeah, feel free to skip this one if you don’t like guns.
Tumblr media
The objective was clear; observe but under no circumstances interact.
It should have been easy. After all, this wasn’t the first time you had this brief. You would follow your target from the rooftops, place cameras in their home, listen to how they interacted with others. You would learn everything humanly possible about your target. It was supposed to make the second part of your job easier, but it never did.
It was a lot harder to kill someone when you knew them inside out.
But that was what you had been born to do. You had been created to be the ultimate spy. Implanted behind your right ear was your Genetic Variant. It was the only one in existence and it allowed you to change your appearance with relative ease. You would then assimilate their lives until your brief changed. Then you would acquire whatever information or object your boss desired before booking it.
But this time was different.
You were given a name and an address. They told you that he lived alone, so a photo of the guy wasn’t required. That in of itself wasn’t unusual. Many of the male targets you had had were single. They were older men who were married to their jobs, and thus settled for paid entertainment in the evening.
You had broken into your targets apartment with ease, the security surprisingly lax for someone with his tax bracket. His top floor penthouse apartment had none of the extra security measures your other targets were fond of equipping, so you had let yourself into his sparsely decorated suit through the service entrance and planted your surveillance equipment in every nook and cranny you could find.
Then you had settled into your hotel room and waited for him to return.
That was when you realised your target wasn’t like the others.
For a start, the man was hardly an adult. If you had to guess, he was barely in his twenties. He lacked the usual suit and tie of your targets, settling for a more relaxed grey tracksuit. He had entered the apartment slightly red in the face, a light sweat dusting his brow. He pulled his earphones from his ears as he started his warm down stretches.
Normally you would observe your target for a few days before reviewing their online profile. You found it helped keep your mind clear of any stereotypes and allowed you to naturally develop a sense of what they were like before the intricate details were introduced. But considering the man before you were a good forty years younger than your other targets, you thought you should read up on him.
Jeon Jungkook. Twenty-two years old. Born in Busan, had made his wealth while still in school at the tender age of thirteen when he had created an app that was a glorified scavenger hunt. The user needed to find the right location for a riddle to appear that would lead them to the next spot. The world had gone crazy with the idea and Jungkook had made a tidy sum of forty-three million when he sold the software to Microsoft. He had then started working on numerous other projects, including a tracking system used by NASA.
It was an impressive feat for a man so young. You watched as he finished his stretches and moved through his apartment to his kitchen. He fluttered about as he slowly readied his own meal.
He continued to surprise you from there. He was one of the wealthiest men in the world, and yet he had no security, no maid or cook or any form of help in his life. He did everything himself. Every single day, he did the same thing.
He would wake up at dawn for a swim in his private pool, shower before making himself a light breakfast. He would then retire to his home office to work silently for several hours before his phone would ring at precisely 11 AM. He would speak to a man named Namjoon, smiling fondly as he swivelled in his chair for the few minutes they spoke. He would then promise to take time away from his desk before putting the phone down. Stretch and then it was on to lunch. You would follow him at a distance, watching his dark head as he moved through legions of people without a care in the world. He would enter a deli that was a twenty-minute walk from his apartment, greet the workers with warm familiarity before ordering a sandwich. He would then take the sandwich and eat it at the park across the road. Slowly, he would make his way back to his apartment where he would work in his office until the early hours of the evening before heading to see his personal trainer. He would spend a few more hours working out before finally retiring to his apartment where he remained until he went to bed.
It was like clockwork his routine. You studied him for months, could recite his lines word for word with warm familiarity. Jungkook was a nice guy. Unlike every other target, he was polite and soft-spoken. He smiled at children, took time to help anyone in need regardless of their age. He held doors open and kept dog treats in his pocket for when a dog greeted him (with their owner’s consent, of course). He had all the money in the world, and no inclination to spend it on frivolous things.
He was an enigma to you. You could not find a reason as to why your boss had hand-selected him as your target and you had no way of finding out why, as was protocol for these missions. You were on your own, expected to follow and observe until your brief changed. And so that’s what you did. You changed your appearance every day you followed him, making sure to take a variety of faces of all ages and nationalities so he wouldn’t grow suspicious of you tailing him. He was none the wiser that anything out of the ordinary was happening.
Which was why you didn’t expect it.
He was on his way home from seeing his personal trainer. You tailed him easily enough, keeping an eye on him as he wandered four people ahead of you. You knew his route home well, you didn’t need to keep an eye attached on him. Which was why, as you were briefly distracted by a commotion on the other side of the street, you didn’t expect him to disappear on you.
You turned away from the commotion, moving to where you had last seen Jungkook standing. He was nowhere along the street that you could see, but he had stopped in front of an alleyway. You eyed it sceptically, glancing up and down the street to make sure no one was watching you. When you were certain that everyone was still distracted by the commotion, you entered the dark alleyway.
You scanned every nook and cranny as you walked, hoping beyond hope that Jungkook had been knocked out rather than kidnapped. You were never going to be able to explain what had happened if he had been kidnapped. The alleyway was a dead end and Jungkook was nowhere to be seen. You shook your head and was about to give up and try to locate him using one of your other means when you heard the sound of the hammer of a gun being pulled back.
You held your hands up as you turned slowly around, coming face to face with Jungkook. The kindness you were so used to seeing was no longer on his face.
He held the gun steady to your face as he took in your appearance. “Why are you following me?”
You made yourself look meek, cowering at his gun as your mind raced to find a way out of this that didn’t involve getting your brains blown out. “I-I was just looking for my - for my cat,” You whimpered, lowering your eyes from his in an attempt to appear weak.
“Bullshit.”
Your eyes flickered back to his as he calmly studied you.
“I know you’ve been following me for months now. I found your cameras.” His head cocked as you slowly straightened yourself to your full height. There was clearly no need to pretend anymore. “Who are you?”
You kept your hands up in an attempt to settle him. “I have no name,” you replied softly.
“Then what do you want?” He practically spat the words out.
You hesitated, studying him carefully before settling on telling him the truth. “I’m here to warn you. My boss wants you dead.”
