Hi,.....if you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from BNHA? Amd why do you love them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Sorry if you've answered this question before....If you've answered them before, do you mind changed the amswers to Sk8 series....(Again sorry if I'm asking too much)....
Thanks so much for your blog, love reading them ......
HOW DID I ALMOST FORGET TO ANSWER THIS, WTH, KIYA?!
Anyways!
Okay, I'll do 3 since I also want to answer for SK8! First, BNHA!
My favorite characters are (and should be no surprise to anyone who has been following my blog long enough 😆)...
Miruko - hands down she easily became my favorite the moment she graced her presence in the story. She's the #5 Pro Hero who just hops around and kicks ass. She's a "no nonsense, let's get this done" character and I have to applaud Sakaya Kinoshita and Anairis Quiñoes for providing such great voices for her. Both women really put "I'm a badass and I know it" into voicing Miruko. There's also the fact that rabbits are one of my favorite animals.
Midoriya - He's unique to me. He has a range that I like. He could look like he couldn't hurt a fly and then the next he looks out for blood. His green curls and freckles are nice touches to his character. He's sweet, kind and has a sharp mind. But he's also stubborn, quick to anger, irrational. Out of all BNHA characters, he is the one I do relate to the most when it comes to having emotions. Again, I'm applauding voice actors here because Daiki Yamashita and Justin Briner bring Midoriya to life on the screen for me. I could not imagine any other voices but theirs for the sub and dub, I just can't.
Rock Lock - I'm giving Rock Lock love here because he just doesn't get enough of it. He's one of the few adult characters that really did bring up a good point about the kids in season 4 and yet does recognize their potential. He immediately gave me Dad vibes and I was right that he was indeed one. Which is another element to his character I love. He thinks about his family, he is really a softie. I love that for him. When he thought about making it back to his wife and son, I teared up a little. And I'll bring race into this for a bit because it is not often we do get Black characters in media with a softer side, let alone in media not created by Black people. So it was nice to see an actual family man with a job like his where it doesn’t affect said family in a bad way like Endeavor's does or even Captain Hero's in Vigilantes where he was having some martial problems. He's #1 Dad and husband in my book and I take no arguments on that. Also, anytime he talks I gotta to listen. Again, yes, voice actors, Yasuhiro Fujiwara and Gabe Kunda, love them. And his quirk, I actually love that quirk. It's a fun one.
Now for moments!!! Again, doing just three. And I'm sticking to just the anime here to avoid spoilers.
Ya'll already know I'm going to say the Miruko vs. High End Nomus fight. Out of all the fights in season 6, that is one of the best ones. Even leading up to her being Shigaraki's containment. I was actually surprised that made it on one of the recent Watchmojo anime videos for anime fights that caught the audience by surprise or something along those lines. Of course, not mad about it because oh my gosh, just watching her kick ass in a purple lit setting really just... I loved it so much.
I gotta bring up the dorm room episode here. It's one of the episodes I can rewatch and not get tired of it. There's so many funny moments in that episode and to be more specific my favorite scene is when they got to Tokoyami's room. From him trying to stop them from checking out his room, be overpowered because it was 2 to 1 and he is still fairly small (doesn't even have muscles until later) to the showcasing of the room. His room is my favorite. Gothic setting with black and purple lighting? Hell yes! I also love his "GEEEEET OOOOUT!" Don't blame him.
For the third one... hm... I have a lot of moments I like and I'll pick season 4 for this since not a whole of people talk about that season. And I'll choose... okay, when Eri finally smiled. That scene actually made me cry, did it. She's been through so much and all it took for her to smile was to see Midoriya on stage and have a fun time. Honestly, every time Eri smiles I want to or actually do cry. I did it in Mirio's flashback of his when she smiled at him in season 6. She's just so precious!
Now onto SK8 the Infinity! Starting with the characters which was hard to do because I do love them all as a whole.
Reki - he's literal sunshine who really has some great artistic skills. And out of all the characters, his design is my favorite out of everyone else's. I would wear his hoodies and I love how he wears many colors. He had a signature outfit, but he does change his clothes and his aesthetic is something I would wear. I am a sucker for colors and hoodies. Also, love hearing
Sketchy - Yes, that little pet is a favorite. He's just so freaking adorable??? Sassy little creature.
Nanako - Langa's mom is just so amazing. That woman really is just trying her best to be a good mom and you know she really does love her son and her late husband. She reminds me of Inko, Midoriya’s mom. Just a woman who has a kind heart and wants nothing but her son to be okay and safe.
And now for moments!!
The beach episode is overall is a favorite. I love that episode as a whole. It was a very funny episode... then episode 7 happened. I never thought the number 7 would betray me.
I really love that part where Reki and Langa were fixing skateboard, it's such a sweet moment.
The part in the epilogue with the Kyan family! As a big sister, it warmed my heart seeing another big bro Reki moment with the twins! IT WAS SO ADORABLE!!

Watched S3 He-Man
HOOOOOOOOOOO.
So much! So much to talk about! There’s positives... and some minor negatives. But minor ones! Because this season mainly was awesome!
So positives first!
1. THE FIGHT SCENES. RADICAL. AMAZING. GREAT.
2. The story was great! They managed to pace everything perfectly in eight episodes!
3. ALAN OPPENHEIMER AS GRAYSKULL!!!!! WALLACE SHAWN AS ORKO!!!!
4. They saved Krass! And I like how she was still struggling between her emotions and continuing to be a bad guy, it really makes the confrontations agonizing.
5. Ork-0 used real magic! I’m very glad we got to see him again and he got some character growth. It had a real good life lesson for kids.
6. Ooooooooooh, the Hiss monster designs were sooooo good. The Basilisk was a smidge underwhelming but it was still awesome.
7. Actually EVERYTHING had great monster designs. Those weird mecha-horse things, Skeletor’s god forms, etc. Great stuff.
8. MY BOY DUNCAN GOT HIS TIME TO SHINE!!! Actually everyone equally got their time to shine, I’m so thankful to the writers that they treated everyone so equally respectful. But Duncan did such a good job, I’m so proud of this kid!
9. I don’t know if people will dislike it, but... I actually like that Adam restored Keldor to his human self. And it wasn’t for ham-fisted reasons and it wasn’t like he was forcing himself to see Keldor as family, he simply stated “It’s the right thing to do” because Adam doesn’t have it in him to kill.
10. Stratos and gang came back for a bit! I do kind of wish they could have played a bigger part but that’s ok. It’s hard juggling that many characters.
11. BABY TEELA WAS SO STINKIN’ CUTE!!!
12. The gang has come together as a family again :’D
13. Ok even though I don’t like Smith’s MotU... that cameo was hilarious, fight me.
14. OHOHOHO, HORDAK! EVELYN IS HORDAK’S DAUGHTER! Does this mean we get a Season 4?? >:3
Now... I do have some negatives, but honestly again these are minor nitpicks in the grand scheme of things. So they don’t really matter.
1. I... really don’t like how the show kept fluctuating Evelyn/Evil-lyn’s morality and gave her this semi-redemption arc. It was dumb and ham-fisted in the other MotU show and it was really painful here. Like... I LOVE Evelyn/Evil-Lyn. She’s so delightfully narcissistic and under-handed, but making her do good things and be more prone to helping really takes the “Evil” out of Evil-Lyn. Especially because it made no sense.
2. George Takei as Mer-Man, bleh... He was ok as an actor but could they have picked someone less... controversial? You want an Asian actor to play Mer-Man? Cary Hiroyuki-Tagawa is right there, guys. At least his character died. But I’ll admit the character design was pretty rad.
3. Some weird animation errors? During the scene where they’re trying to lure more Hiss monsters into Snake Mountain, there’s a scene where Kronis doesn’t have his jaw brace but suddenly in the next cut he does? I dunno, there were a couple of weird character-model inconsistencies between all the seasons but again, it’s not a big deal.
4. WHAT HAPPENED TO JUSTINE? D: Seriously, poor girl just disappears off the face of the earth. She had kind of a cute partnership/friendship with Tri-Clops, it seemed, but then all of a sudden she’s just- poof! Gone.
5. I’ll 100% admit that this is less of an overall criticism and more of a personal issue but... I don’t really like how Kronis and Evelyn’s partnership seemed to have such an abrupt change in dynamic. In the first season, they were equals and they seemed to tolerate each other smoothly, even mutually getting along (Like ”Your runt hit me with a transport!” “When we find him, how’s about we both hit him with one?” “Hmhmmm... I’d like that”. Or all the “dear Kronis” parts?). But then suddenly with S2, and even more so in S3, they made Evil-lyn the “leader” while Kronis/Trap-Jaw suddenly gets delegated to hulking, idiot henchman. I miss when the two of them were working together, they had a fun dynamic.
6. Oh gosh, speaking of which, Kronis just lost the charm of his character from S1. He turned into an idiot and a wimp, and he is just... drastically different from his S1 incarnation. Remember that this guy is supposed to be smart as hell? Remember how he took on Cringer with his bare hands (granted Cringer didn’t have claws but assuming Cringer weighs as much as the largest tiger breed, so like.. Amur tigers, which are 600 pounds? HE THREW 600 POUNDS OF MUSCLE)? You’d think instead of being screaming, fleeing bait for the Hiss minions he would have been more... I dunno, controlled and intelligent about it? Either way, RIP S1 Kronis. You were way more of an appealing sinister badass.
7. Ok... Why hire Kevin Smith as Tri-Clops? Did they just feel bad for him or something? Seems like a really weird choice considering how shitty he’s been to He-Man fans.
But honestly, like I said before, those nitpicks are so minor it doesn’t even matter. This season was amazing, I was initially sad to see it was only eight episodes long but they did such a fantastic job with the writing and pacing that it felt long enough. I love this show so much and I only hope it does get greenlit for S4.

I usually do this on Twitter but I have it deactivated atm and I wanna start using this site more so fuck it let me unload all my thoughts about the one piece episodes I watched today. All the character interactions have got me giggling and kicking my feet frr
so uhh ONE PIECE SPOILERS below here!! for some added context I'm up to the wano arc and have just watched ep 1017!!
Gosh I can't stop giggling over Kid, Killer and Law having cool ass entrances (or what I presume were with Kid and Killer) and then Zoro, in perfect Strawhat style, flying in out of nowhere cos of Marco kevdsk. Him blushing in embarrassment after as well ;(( there were tears. I'm soooo gonna redraw it at some point.
And broooo the chemistry between Kid, Law and Luffy is so fucking good they are actually insane. They're about to fight TWO emperors of the sea and here they are making a game of chicken out of Big Mom's attack and then proceeding to get hit by said attack)("£%& Mannnn I love them all sm they are literally all like shithead brothers to each other.
Little side note- I don't think I'm gonna survive once the dub caches up to this arc with Kid being voiced by Justin Cook AND looking like Kirishima from bnha oh mannnnn
++PLUS Law (Holy shit this fucking guy) getting upset about Luffy making it look like he was following orders from him and then later on begrudgingly using Chambres (shambles?? Idfk atp) to send Zoro to Kaido (TWICE) when he asked is honestly peak comedy. I have to keep reminding myself that this man is 26 cos he's so dramatic.
Tumblr media
Like look at his face, he is absolutely fuming
He was so fucking cool using his gamma knife tho so I'll give him that (had me stimming so hard).
Might I add, the whole Luffy being immune to electricity cos he's made out of rubber and his opponents not knowing thing will honestly never get old, Like I know Big Mom was embarrassed after that jsvsks and then Kaido's attack doing shit all as well cos of the amount of guts (???) Luffy has. Priceless.
YAMATO AND ACE HOLY SHIT- all the small things like the vivre card originally being made by Yamato and then him watching it burn right before his eyes unaware of what was going on at Marineford I sobbed so fucking hard. The added bittersweet-ness to the scene where Ace makes all his promises to Yamato as well because of the knowledge that he was never able to keep them. Crying and shaking on the floor.
There's definitely more I want to say but this is getting long so I'll just stop it here kdgsk

Firsts
Summary: Your firsts with Peter Parker (or the beautiful calm before the inevitable storm that came with dating Spider-Man.)
Note: why yes, my love for Andrew’s Peter has also been reignited by No Way Home. this is part of a small mini series of imagines all based around this set up and continuing to NWH. Will probably be a total of 3 to 4 parts. I just want to establish the emotional connection between you both so we can all ugly cry together.
Part 2:
Tumblr media
It was fall and the leaves were red & the air was chilled and to him, it was perfect photo taking weather.
Camera strapped to his neck, he snapped away at twisted tree branches and pieces of orange sky when his lens focused on a big, golden haired dog. Kneeled beside him was you, hand fluffing up the dog’s fur in happy pets, and Peter couldn’t help but instinctively zoom in on your face. His finger went straight to the trigger, having caught a photo of you mid laughter.
Normally Peter would be against taking a photo of someone without their permission, but it was almost as if something had taken over him, like he just had to take the picture.
Maybe it was the pretentious photographer in him that preferred candids over a predetermined pose, or he was getting tired of shooting dead branches, especially when a genuine smile like your’s was just waiting to be captured in an image. Whatever it was, he didn’t expect to see you waving at him once he moved his camera away from his eye.
Great, you caught him.
He blushed, a guilty expression plastered on his face as he awkwardly waved back.
Your hands signaled him to approach you, and he took a breath as he made his way over.
“Hey, was it a good shot?” you asked immediately, a brow raised and an amused smile painting your lips. From the view point of his lens, Peter could make out that you were a pretty girl, but now, in person, he was almost stunned by how beautiful you were. Your eyes peering up at him from your lashes captivated him almost immediately.
“Umm, yea, I’m sorry about that. I should have asked for your permission. I’ll delete it…” he explained rather nervously, hand rubbing at the back of his neck.
“No, it’s ok! I’m flattered actually. Is it ok if I check it out?” you assured him, flashing him a warmer smile.
Bashfully showing you the photo on his camera, you went on to give him your phone number, asking for a copy to have of your own.
“This is Shaggy, by the way. You can pet him if you want. He loves making new friends.”
Peter leaned down to pet Shaggy, smiling at him.
“Hey, nice to meet you, Shaggy. I’m Peter.”
Your smile grew as you watched them both, Shaggy wagging his tail excitedly as Peter had found his favorite spot; right between the ears.
Your eyes then focused on the tall, brunette boy, realizing that not only was he kind, but also extremely cute.
You tried to keep yourself from blushing, clearing your throat
“I’m y/n, by the way,” you said, and his eyes instantly met yours.
Beautiful brown eyes behind squared framed glasses.
Oh gosh, you were a goner.
“Nice to meet you too, y/n.”
He ended up sending you the photo as soon as he transferred the images to his laptop. He insisted that it was because he didn’t want you to wait too long, but he knew it was because he wanted any excuse to continue talking to you.
From then on the conversations continued, growing into talks about each other’s interests and lives (and how Shaggy was indeed named after the Scooby-Doo character, to which Peter laughed and said “oh you just had to name him after the non-dog character to be different, did you?”)
It was safe to say that you both developed little crushes on each other.
The first time Peter Parker asked you out was a couple days later. After texting and calling nonstop since meeting, he finally got the courage to ask.
“Hey, there’s a photo exhibit happening downtown tomorrow. Do you maybe wanna go with me?” he asked.
Laying down on his bed, facing his ceiling, he held his breath as he awaited your answer.
Little did he know, your heart nearly stopped at his question.
Was he asking you out on a date?
You bit your lip to keep yourself from screaming out an overly excited ‘yes’, choosing to go the ‘cool girl’ route.
Calm, effortless. Making sure not to make it a big deal by labeling it said ‘d’ word.
“Um, yea, sure. Sounds fun,” you said, hoping it sounded cool and collected on his end despite being the exact opposite of how you felt.
Peter immediately pumped his fist up, thrilled at your acceptance.
“Ok, cool. I’ll pick you up at 4:00?”
“Sounds like a date,” you said, before slapping a hand over your forehead immediately.
Crap.
You said the ‘d’ word.
Before he could even respond, you took it upon yourself to explain further.
A terrible mistake.
“I mean, like, you know. A friend date. Not like a…not a real date, cause I’m sure that’s not...”
“No, I want it to be,” Peter interrupted immediately, surprising even himself.
He didn’t want you to be confused by his intentions. He liked you, really liked you, and the last thing he wanted was for you to think that he saw you as ‘just a friend’.
If he was being honest, he didn’t think he could ever be ‘just a friend’ to you.
Your eyes widen, face warm as you quickly stuffed your phone under your pillow, letting out an excited squeal that you could no longer hold.
“Y/N?” you heard your mom call out worriedly from outside your door.
“It’s ok, mom! Just…stubbed my toe,” you said, embarrassed she had heard you.
Ok, breathe. Be a cool girl. You’re a cool girl.
You lifted your phone from under your pillow back to your ear.
“Okay, cool. I’m totally down for that. So tomorrow at 4 it is.”
Little did you know, Peter heard you squeal at the other end of the phone, including your ‘stubbed toe’ excuse and he had to stifle his laughter so as to not make you suspicious.
His chest filled with warmth and he was beyond giddy at your reaction. You were actually ecstatic to go out with him. Never did he think he would get that kind of reaction, especially from someone as amazing as you.
God, he was a goner.
“Perfect. See you tomorrow,” he said, and you could hear the smile in his voice.
The first time Peter Parker kissed you was that very same night. After the exhibit, you grabbed some slices of Joe’s Pizza (“The absolute best pizza in all of New York,” Peter had stated in a tone that amusingly sounded more like a fact than an opinion) and then headed into a small local ice cream shop for a scoop of..
“Strawberry ice cream,” you both had said in unison when the server had asked what you would like.
You both turned to each other and laughed, beaming smiles plastered to your faces.
The server couldn’t help but smile too.
“You both make a very lovely couple. How long have you two been together?” he asked.
Peter scratched at the back of his head while you looked down, not wanting him to see your, at this point, tomato red cheeks.
You both decided to share 2 scoops of strawberry ice cream, taking it to go as you continued your night time stroll.
“Ah crap, he only gave us one spoon…” he said, turning around to go back inside.
“I’m ok with sharing,” you said quickly, causing him to turn back around.
“I mean, if you are,” you added, eyes avoiding his in the fear of him looking at you strangely.
He looked down at the ice cream cup in has hand for a moment before grabbing the spoon, offering it you.
“One spoon for two it is,” he said with a small smirk.
You took turns before it turned into both of you feeding each other, giggling as it progressed into a tiny food fight.
“Ha, now you have some on your nose,” you teased, sticking your tongue out at him.
He laughed, taking the spoon back from you and lightly smeering a bit of melted ice cream on your cheek.
“Now we’re matching,” he said, mimicking you as he stuck his tongue out.
You giggled, finger wiping at your cheek.
“Oh, wait, you missed,” he said, reaching his hand out towards your cheek as his thumb gently wiped at the smear.
Your breath caught in your throat as his skin made contact with yours. Just this small, innocent action was enough to send shockwaves throughout your entire body.
His thumb lingered on your skin, the rest of his fingers joining to caress your cheek. His eyes then landed on your’s and, if you weren’t frozen in place just yet, you definitely were now. You watched in palpable silence, heart beating rapidly, as you awaited his next move.
“You have really beautiful eyes,” he voices softly, face leaning closer to yours.
At this point you could feel his breath on your face and without thinking about, you leaned in closer as well, your faces less than inches apart.
“Is this ok?” He had whispered, mouth grazing your’s as his eyes closed instinctively.
You nodded, wanting nothing more than for him to move just a tiny bit closer.
“More than.”
His lips met yours, soft and warm and kind and perfect, and you practically melted into him.
You half expected an Elvis song to play and end credits to roll. It was that perfect.
The first time Peter Parker said he loved you was coincidentally the first time you found out he was Spider-Man.
You started noticing Peter wasn’t wearing his glasses, but when you had asked he said he got ‘contacts’. You also noticed how he was surprisingly stronger than usual.
It’s not that he was particularly weak before, but you start noticing the change in someone’s capabilities when they slam dunk a basketball and break the hoop.
Like literally smashed the whole thing on the floor.
Although you and Peter didn’t go to the same school, word quickly made it to yours how the the nerdy kid from rival school Midtown High jumped across the court and destroyed a basketball hoop, glass shards everywhere.
“Are you on steroids?” you asked him seriously, causing him to choke on the sandwich he was currently eating.
You both held the tradition of eating at the Starlight Diner every Friday after school. You would wait on the steps of Midtown High for Peter to be dismissed, and make your way to the diner hand in hand, you on his skateboard as he helped guide you to the direction of the restaurant.
“What? No, of course not! I just…I’ve been working out more.”
“Where? In Superman’s gym? ‘Cause you pretty much need super human strength to do what you did, Peter.”
He playful rolled his eyes at you, chuckling under his breath.
“Oh ha-ha, look at you with the quips. Maybe your dad is right, maybe I am a bad influence,” he teased, but you remained straight faced with him.
“I don’t know what’s going on with you, but I can tell when you’re bullshitting me, and you’ve been doing that a lot lately.”
He pauses mid bite, realizing your seriousness, and places his sandwich down on the plate, brow furrowed.
“Whoa. Y/N, what are you…”
“You’re always leaving in the middle of our hangouts, coming up with excuses like ‘Aunt May wants you home early’, when I know that’s not true because I called her the other day, when you left, to apologize for keeping you out so late, and she said she didn’t mind and to tell you, since you were still ‘out with me’, that she needed you to bring home a gallon of milk.”
“Not only that but you’re acting different. You’re more on edge, less rational about things. I mean, humiliating Flash Thompson like that? Sure it sounds funny and he definitely deserves it but that’s not something the Peter Parker I know would do. In fact, you’ve been doing a lot of things you wouldn’t typically do. And I guess I wouldn’t mind if you would just tell me what the heck was going on. You used to tell me everything, Peter. What’s changed?”
It all flowed out of you like a waterfall; weeks of pent up frustration and worry. You didn’t even realize that your eyes were glossy, tears threatening to spill.
But Peter did.
“Hey, hey, hey, hey. Y/n, baby, please, it’s ok.” He leaned forward to reach for your hand on the table but you pulled back, shaking your head.
“No. It’s not ok,” and his heart breaks at the hurt in your tone.
“I don’t even know you anymore,” you state, and a tear finally makes its way down your cheek.
Before he can even lean forward to reach for you again, you stand up and move out of the booth you shared.
“Where are you going?” Peter asks, and there’s a lump in his throat that you can hear in his voice.
“I need some time. Oh wait, no, that’s too honest of an answer, sorry. My mom wants me home early,” you said bitterly, eyes looking straight into his before you turned around and walked straight out of the diner, the bell at the door alerting patrons of your departure.
Peter swallowed, eyes remanning on the spot where you once sat.
He fucked up and he knows it.
He comes up with a plan to make it up to you and later that night he stands on your windowsill, knocking on the glass.
You go to check out the strange tapping noise and almost fall backwards in shock once you draw your curtains and come face to face with Peter.
“Oh my god, Peter! What are you doing here?! Be careful, you’re gonna fall!” you say frantically, ushering him in.
He can’t help but smile lightly at your worry; at least it seemed like you still cared about him.
“Y\n, I’m really sorry about how I’ve been acting lately. You’re right. I’ve been acting weird and lying to you about it and you don’t deserve that. I tell you everything because I trust you more than anyone in the entire world. And if there’s anyone I can trust with this, it’s definitely you.”
You furrowed your brows, unsure of what he was talking about.
“Peter, what are you…”
“Wait, let me show you please,” he practically begs you with his puppy dog brown eyes and you feel obliged to accept.
As weak as it might make you seem, you could never say no to Peter.
You nod, and he smiles at you, grateful.
“Ok, this is gonna sound weird but I need you to hold onto me,” he said, and you automatically raise a brow.
“Is this an excuse to get me to hug you? Because you don’t deserve a hug right now,” you said with a suspicious brow raised and Peter has to keep the laugh bubbling up his throat from coming out.
Sometimes you were too cute for your own good.
“Trust me. This is going to explain everything.”
So you do as he asked, wrapping your arms around his neck, to which he wraps an arm tightly around your waist.
At this moment you almost immediately accept his apology, despite him not explaining much of anything. You were so head over heels for Peter that just him holding you like that was enough to forgive him.
He interrupts your thoughts.
“Hold on tightly ok? And please, whatever you do, don’t look down.”
You frowned, now more confused than ever.
“Don’t look down? Down from wh-“
Before you can even finish your sentence, you’re both suddenly launched out the window, 0 to 60 in half a second.
You scream loudly, high pitched & full of absolute fear. Your hands tightened their grip around Peter’s neck, eyes looking around frantically as you passed by tall trees and giant skyscrapers.
Peter laughs, giving you a soft squeeze as he reassured you of his hold.
“I got you, don’t worry. Just remember what I said about not…”
You let out another hysterical shriek, nails digging into Peter’s skin as you scrambled to get impossibly closer to him, having caught glimpse of the city below you.
Too late.
“...Looking down.” Peter hissed in pain at your nails.
Damn they were sharp.
Finally he landed you both on top of a building and you gasped once your feet touched solid ground.
“You’re good, it’s ok. You survived,” he says, but you don’t let go of your tight grip on him.
Your breathing is still rapid and your eyes are looking wildly around you before landing on Peter’s face in front of you.
“W-what, h-how….” you’re out of breath and you still haven’t recovered from the shock and fear.
“This is what I haven’t been honest with you about, and what I know now I should’ve from the start,” he confesses, hands making its way to your cheeks.
His warm hands on your face immediately help steady your breathing, allowing you to process what had just occurred.
You weren’t simply flying over the city, you were swinging. Peter was swinging you both with some strange substance coming out of his arm. Like a web of sorts.
Your eyes widen in realization.
“You’re Spider-Man,” you state, breathless, and his eyes never lose contact with your’s.
You can see him swallow silently. He was nervous. Whatever happens next was completely in your control.
“I don’t want to lose you, y/n. You’re the best thing that has ever happened to me and I’d be stupid if I lost you all because I was scared of telling you the truth. More than just my girlfriend, you’re my best friend, and I….I trust you with my whole life. So I’m trusting you with this secret. I promise I’ll explain everything to you later, but right now I need you to know that I….”
He gently rests his forehead against your’s.
“I love you.”
His words echo in your head and your chest finally stills.
In that moment, nothing else mattered. Not the anger you felt about him lying. Not the fear as he swung you over the city. Not even the fact that he was freakin Spider-Man.
All that mattered was how much you loved Peter and how he felt the same way. It, along with the many overwhelming emotions you felt that day, was enough to cause tears to roll down your cheeks. To which Peter wiped away immediately.
Before he could even apologize, you pull him down to you by his shirt collar, smashing your lips on his.
He’s taken aback at first, but immediately closes his eyes and practically breathes new life into you as he kisses you back eagerly, hands resting on your lower back.
These were the firsts of many memories you and Peter shared. Times where you were the happiest. Times that you’ve both replayed in your head whenever you felt like nothing was going right. Times that you strived to recreate together every moment that you could.
But, as he stared out the window of his dark and lonely rundown apartment, empty liquor bottles piled on the floor, dried tear stains on his cheeks, he wished more than anything that he could have shared more with you.

OH MY GOSH. Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh OH. MY. GOSH.
Okay, now that I've gotten that out of my system, here are my thoughts about Diamond + Quake + Carbon + Comms + Tower, in no particular order (spoilers ahead):
THE TRUTH IS OUT. I honestly went into this episode thinking that we were going to be faked out again, but they actually delivered! I loved everything about the reveal, though I think it was super irresponsible of Desi to throw out her comms because she didn't like what she heard, especially after Matty expressly told her not to.
I am honestly shocked that they gave Leanna's storyline closure. I never cared for her as a character myself, but I always loved how much Bozer cared about her. Justin's acting in this episode was phenomenal. It broke my heart. Great continuity, and amazing angst!
Okay, so you know at the beginning when Mac is talking about pressure? Yeeeaaahh, he's not just talking about diamonds. I'm not sure how the writers intended us to read that scene, but I did not see happy, entergetic man preparing to propose. I saw a man barely holding it together, on the verge of cracking, laughing and smiling and acting so exuberant in an effort to stave off everything bad he is feeling. There was a sense of wrongness about his energy in the beginning, like he's breaking apart at the seams. It was funny and cute, don't get me wrong, but... It was also chilling.
Look at Bozer putting Riley's feelings first. And the part of the conversation we hear during the big reveal is pretty much everything I could have dreamed. I still can't believe that MAC KNOWS.
The WHUMP in this episode!!! Hit by a car, out of breath after being forced to run for miles, the emotional manipulation and stress. And of course, Murdoc beating him to a pulp, all that manhandling and punching and shoving... Excellent whump.
I am, however, sorely disappointed in the lack of aftercare/consequences. At the VERY LEAST, Mac should have been moving stiffly, arms cradling his midsection, hunched over in pain. Come on, writers. People don't get the crap beat out of them and then walk away like it's nothing.
Again, though, the whump itself was excellent.
I also love the fact that this whole thing was a plot to get and execute Mac so that Andrews could take over Codex. I love a good revenge plot, and the fact that they were broadcasting the killing to Codex leaders gave me all the whumperflies.
Regarding the plot in and of itself, it doesn't make a ton of sense. I guess Murdoc chose to beat Mac to draw out the death and force him to suffer more, so that the revenge would be sweeter?? But I don't believe Murdoc could have actually killed him. He can't lose his rival, his muse, his favorite toy (an idea I explore in one of my fics, actually). I also don't really get why he would team up with Andrews. Well, my best guess is that he just wanted to play with Mac and Phoenix, and Andrews provided that opportunity.
Speaking of Murdoc, he was ON POINT. I adored every minute of his time on screen. And you all heard it too - he actually declared his love for Mac with the "better to have loved and murdered" line!! That just further proves his creepy, possessive obsession with Mac (another thing I explored in my fic)! So yes, Murdoc was the perfect villain. The only complaint is that I think he would have used Jack's death against them.
As far as Andrews goes, I do think he was criminally underused. He was such a great villain with so much potential, but there was almost no reason for him to be there with the way they used him. And I was very disappointed that his chain never ended up around Mac's neck.
Desi was... Interesting this episode. I'm not going any deeper into Mac's intended proposal, because they made it very clear that he is rushing things because of the losses (another mention of Jack, by the way!) and because of how close he is to caving under the pressure. But yeah, Desi was sometimes frustrating and difficult, but she was resigned and understanding at the end?? I'm not sure how to read her anymore.
I adored Russ in this episode. I love him anyway, but his energy, angst, angry breakdown... They were incredible.
The earthquake plot was unique too! I do wish we'd get a bit more MacGyvering in this season, though.
As a whole, everyone's acting was on a whole new level in this one! I was blown away by each and every performance!
Finally, THAT CLIFFHANGER. I am DYING!!!! So cruel. I really, really hope they do it justice in the next episode, which I cannot wait for!!
Overall, this has by far been my favorite episode this season! So, so, so good, despite my few nitpicks. I actually cannot get over just how much I enjoyed it - can't wait to watch it again tomorrow! :)

For the bookish ask game, would you answer: ⚔️ 🗺 📓and ☕️?
Tumblr media
Oh hai! Thanks for the questions and for reading what will inevitably some really long-winded answers. Alright, here we go:
⚔️ what’s your favorite enemies-to-lovers ship?
Prepare yourself for an opinion that is likely not going to be popular on the internet™ because people have their own opinions® after A Court of Silver Flames, but—
Feyre and Rhysand.
I...love them? Truthfully, I do not care about the discourse or the admittedly and not so vaguely toxic nature of what happens in the books. I just—honestly, I don't care. It's a fantasy! They're fae! Some of them have wings! Cross-dimensional soulmates is chef's kiss, fantastic, wonderful IN FICTION and I am consistent and perpetual trash for the concept of I've always loved you and I’ll always love you and I loved you even when I didn't realize I did. ESPECIALLY THAT LAST PART. I was not totally sold on Tamlin as a love interest in A Court of Thorns and Roses, but then everything Under the Mountain happened Under the Mountain and I was like oh, hey, I HATE that guy and not to be like I AM AN INTELLECTUAL, but I understood everything Rhysand did while he was doing it. Like, I did not need the explanation chapter in A Court of Mist and Fury. I enjoyed it! I enjoyed the heck outta it! But I got where he was coming from from the get and that, THAT, is the best way to do enemies to lovers. Yeah, sure they were destined and all that delightfully sweeping, unbelievable romantic nonsense, but Feyre and Rhysand were forced into a partnership of survival and that was the basis for their eventual friendship and THEY HAD A FRIENDSHIP. He taught her to read! He got her to start eating again! They danced at Starfall! There was a progression with them that made sense outside the confines of all that fate stuff and mate stuff and other assorted rhyming words.
Also, uh, I am a simple lady. You give me a dark-haired, self-loathing dude who is brimming with regret for his past mistakes and just wants to be a bit better and protect the people he cares about who is obviously and consistently head over heels in love with the heroine of the story and Immma eat that shit up.
🗺 what’s a book series you love that’s inspired by the culture/history of a specific country?
The Wrath and the Dawn! The Wrath and the Dawn! The Wrath and the Dawn! The Wrath and the Dawn! The Wrath and the Dawn!
This is one of those books that, when I finished the first, I immediately started the second. Like, no break whatsoever. It's gorgeous! The writing is beautiful and the story itself is fantastic, with inspiration from One Thousand and One Nights, and the romance! Gosh, the romance. Everything about this book made my heart ache in one of those wonderful ways, where you're like—yeah, this is a little angsty, and sort of painful, but they're in love and I love that they're in love and I can't stop reading. I seriously could not stop reading these two books. Everything about the duology was sort of fantastical and sweeping and it's been almost a year since I read them and I think about them both regularly.
A very close second-place finish to Sands of Arawiya, which is equally gorgeous writing with a lot more magic than The Wrath and the Dawn.
📓 do you read classic literature? if so, what’s your favorite classic? give your top 3 if you can’t choose just one!
...Holden Caulfield is my favorite fictional character, bar none, so, like, I am a person who legitimately enjoys Catcher in the Rye and has read it multiple times after being required to read it as a junior in high school. I am perfectly aware how pretentious this book is. I am equally aware of the negatives and the reasonable critiques. As is becoming a trend, though, I also do not care and perhaps one of the more consistent arguments Justin and I have is the overall acceptability of Holden's whiny narrative because—
☕️ drop a HOT unpopular opinion about a book/character. be savage.
I hate Ender Wiggin. HATE THAT LITTLE KID. Can't stand him. Shut up about your genocide. When I was in college, I took a class called Fantasy in Fiction and we had to read a different book every week and it was my absolute favorite class I took in college. Except when we had to read Ender's Game. Which I hated with the force of several suns. Space jokes, topical. There is absolutely no rational reason for my unbridled hatred of Ender — particularly when, as Justin will be quick to tell you, I love Holden Caulfield so much — but I will never shut up about it. He was so...whiny. In an absolutely unbearable way. And, yeah, ok, the world was awful and he was being groomed to commit genocide without realizing it and...WHATEVER. Y'know who had it rough, Ender? Your sister. Your stupid parents who kept having kids. Bean. Justin has spent the better part of our decade-plus relationship trying to convince me that is worth my time to read the Bean POV books. I have not. I will not.
Let’s talk about books!

Nari in NCT Vlive Relay
🎶Room Playlist🎶 (feat. Warm Winter❄️Snacks🍠🌰) - with members; Johnny, Taeyong, Hendery and Nari
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First I’ll tell you the songs that Nari recommended and the boys reactions to her songs and then I’ll go through the Vlive adding in Nari’s highlights
Nari’s Recommendation’s + Reasoning + Member’s Reactions
Running Through The Night by Seori -  Nari said that the song is very peaceful and she really loves the lyrics, she said how each time she listens to the song it feels like she notices something new that she didn’t notice before - Taeyong really liked this song
On The Low by Justin Park - Nari said that the sound and beats of the song is what she really likes and how sometimes songs work really well because their lyrics are very complex but in this song it works well because the lyrics are very straightforward and easy to understand - Johnny really liked this song and also said he would be adding it to his playlist later. Hendery and Taeyong were also visibly enjoying the song
The Riot by GINJO, XIAOJUN, TEN - Of course Nari has to promote all the members individual promotions as well and not to mention she just genuinely loves this song. She says that it is very fun, addictive and makes you want to groove - Of course all the members loved this song
Tumblr media
Okay now onto the actual Vlive
Throughout the Vlive Nari is seated in between Hendery and Taeyong
Taeyong is very soft in this Vlive and having Nari and him together in the center of the couch is just overall such soft/cute vibes
The whole Vlive is just switching between Nari hugging/leaning on Taeyong and Hendery whilst Taeyong also hugs and leans on Nari
Also Nari is initially, and throghout parts of the live, holding her Ice bear plush and constantly hunching adorably so that her head is lent against the plush’s head as it sits in her lap
They are all wearing cute bear ear headbands and Nari’s headband had one black bear ear and one white one
She is wearing this over a hooddie that isn’t tied like Taeyongs but still covers her hair (along with a cap)
When the live starts Johnny introduces the group as HeNaTaeJoh and Nari makes an adorable “huh?” noise as she swivels her head towards Johnny with wide eyes and a questioning expression (cause Nari initially has no understanding of what he is saying)
But then when Hendery introduces each person’s name (sort of an explanation and also just an introduction) Nari makes a noise of understanding as she moves back to face the camera and nods her head in understanding
For a while Nari is just nodding and bobbing along whilst Taeyong talks
She is also constantly playing with her bear
When Taeyong says they can just eat the snacks freely Nari comments that “Snacks and listening to music is my favourite activity” adding a cheer of excitment at the end as she bounces around in her seat
After this Johnny comments that Nari seems to be in a really energetic mood today which makes Nari laugh as she winks at the camera
When they stuff up and get confused with the release date for “Work It” Nari laughs and makes her bear clap its hands together in celebration
Taeyong asks if they were all in one song together for the first album and Nari says “No, but you guys were all in misfit” also mentioning how it is one of her favorite songs on the album
Nari then starts to rap to the song which earns her more adoring praise from the older boys
Nari is just chilling, nodding and grooving as they talk about misfit - occasionally lip-syncing the lyrics
Nari then joins in with the shoulder dance move and starts saying du du du du in a cute voice as she does it
Throughout the Vlive when Johnny and Hendery speak in English Nari either looks confused and like a lost puppy, makes eye contact with Taeyong as they shrug their shoulders or attempts to repeat the English words after them
Then as Taeyong mentions the point of the Vlive, which is the playlist they have made, Nari starts jumping up and down in her seat repeating playlist over and over like a sugar high child
Hendery comments that she is very excited to which Taeyong laughs and says she just always wants to listen to music
Nari calms down and laughs at her own antics as well
When Hendery is describing “From Home” he asks Nari in Chinese what “addictive” is and Nari translates it to Korean for him
Johnny says the song is warm and Nari adds that she feels it is the type of song that can warm people up in winter
Whilst “From Home” is playing, Nari joins in singing bits and pieces of it, and keeps this up for most of the songs throughout the live
When Johnny asks them to read the comments Nari diligently moves forward in her spot to look at the comments
However she almost instantaneously flops back into her seat saying “I don’t understand” and sighing (since most of the comments are in English)
Hendery saying he’ll be in charge of the Chinese comments prompts Nari to say “Hendery can do Chinese, Taeyong korean, Johnny english, and Nari nothing” which makes Johnny and hendery laugh but Taeyong pipes up saying “you can doJapanese” and Nari gets embarassed saying “ah im still really bad but I’ll try”
(she manages to read one comment in Japenese later in the video and then answer in Japenese as well which earns her praise from the boys of course)
The comment in English which calls Hendery cool, Taeyong cute and Johnny pretty calls Nari smoll which makes Hendery start laughing a lot
At one point Nari just starts rocking her bear in her arms like you would a baby doll as a kid
Except instead of being a normal mum she just keeps darting her tongue out at it like a lizard
When Johnny brings up the character Renjun likes Nari was in her own world just singling along with the music but suddenly leans forward staring at Johnny in confusion which makes him awkwardly laugh
Nari tells them all its moonmin that Renjun likes but then instantly says “We Bare Bears” is better before but shakes her head saying that she likes them both
At one point whilst Taeyong and Johnny are talking, Nari just says pink and pats Henderys hair
Naris snap wristband is a koala (like in the above picture)
Nari imediately starts rapping to Hendery’s part in “Nectar” when the song comes on
After her little jam session when Taeyong asks why Hendery recommended the song Nari calms down and puts her toy back under her chin to listen intently to Hendery
As they talk about the vibe of each subunits songs Nari says Dreams songs are always energetic
Johnny says Nectar is what bees eat and Taeyong says “pollen, honey?” Nari blurts out “HONEY? bees don’t eat honey!” before saying “what, what what” as she shakes her head, causing Taeyong to laugh at her antics
Nari’s reaction to Johnny song suggestion “Gimme love” is to say that she loves it and ask him to send her more recommendations later
She also says she’ll have to re-watch the Vlive to remember the other song by the same artist Hendery mentioned to which Hendery replies “Umm... or you could just text me?”
Johnny says the fans say the food looks yummy and Nari just teases saying matter of factly that it is yummy
When taeyongs crocidile wristband falls off his head it flys right in front of Naris face towards Hendery and then the two of them just act shocked as if they did ssomething wrong and are pretending to be innocent
It’s honestly like they have an entire conversation in their heads together
Legit the Vlive is only up to 24 mins why am I like this
Nari gets excited when Taeyong brings up songs you can listen to on a train as Nari says she loves those songs and pretending she is in a movie or something
As Hendery imagines the mv for this song Nari adds that it would be at night so the person is wearing earbuds looking out the window at the stars
When Hendery says how Taeyong shocked them in the car on the way here by suddenly blurting out “its nice to meet you” in Chinese Nari says how she was wearing headphones so she didn't hear it but got shocked when she saw Hendery move
They go on to talk about wanting to learn Chinese and Johnny mentions remembering a word and not knowing its meaning to which Nari says she gets the same problem with Japanese these days and also mumbles about how she has no idea how she had so much determination as a kid
Taeyong says he likes songs with open endings/interpretations and Nari says how she likes to write songs like that and listen to those sorts of songs because she thinks it means listeners can use their own life stories to interpret the song and that way the lyrics can connect with many people who all live very different lives
When Hendery is playing with the wrist snap bands Nari pretends to push it so it becomes a choker and then Hendery jokingly goes to strangle her all the while Taeyong and Johnny are calm and oblivious
When Taeyong yawns, instead of him bringing the tablet up to cover his face its Nari that does so and she cutetly laughs/smiles afterwafrds
Nari joins in with their league of legends talk and when Taeyong brings up K/DA he mentions how Nari got to help produce and be in one of their songs voicing EVELYN for their 2020 album and Taeyong also says how when Nari found out she literally started jumping up and down in excitement
When Taeyong says his face is quiet small Nari looks and Johnny says “oh it’s about the same size as Nari’s”
Nari and Taeyong look at each other like oohh, hmmm, okay for a moment
When Johnny recommends playing work it Nari’s eyes widen and she looks at the camera man for a moment before Hendery starts laughing and Nari also Starts laughing
When Taeyong puts on the song “hey rose” and there is a swear word Johnny and Hendery both laugh but Nari takes a moment before she is like oh my gosh and starts laughing
Also when Hendery does a beckoning motion to the camera with his fingers Nari does it after him
There are so many moments in this Vlive alone for fans to make compilations of copy + paste moments with Nari imitating her members
Nari starts laughing really hard when Taeyong says white on white
As they mention cookies and cream and oreos Nari just keeps laughing harder until eventually she just covers her face with the bear and calms down a bit before showing her face agin
Then when Johnny says they need to spend time with fans at the end of the year Nari is like yes I am very excited and Hendery pokes her cheek to which she looks mockingly offended before she laughs
When Taeyong is shocked they already reached the end of the playlist Nari comments that she can put on hers and it will go for like an extra 9 hours or something
As they listen to misfit Nari yells out Jeno when his part comes on and starts hyping him up
Then when they start doing the dance moves they did in the mv Nari says  “I will be the fake member” as she joins in
Which is honestly adorable but it brought on a massive sout in the comments section of people saying Nari already is the fake member and stuff
NCTzens are all just lucky that none of the boys were paying attention to the comments at this section and that the real fans managed to drown them out by the time they looked at the comments again otherwise their protective big brother modes would have been activated
They bring up Johnny’s long hair and start comparing it’s length to Nari’s saying how they are basically the same length (of course her hair is still covered throughout this discussion lol)
As Johnny is talking about what it’s like to have long hair he mentions how Nari’s neck must just always be hot
When discussing their favourite NCT songs recently Nari’s are WayV’s Domino and Dream’s Quiet Down
Nari says her favourite cheoreography is probably “Cherry bomb” or Ridin’
When they bring up “My First And Last” Nari is like woah that was so long ago, how old was i???
When they are talking about Hendery being so outgoing and bright Hendery quips that he is the opposite of most the Dream members
To which Nari starts laughing and says “Yes, he had to make friends with me because I never approach people”
Then the comments say Johnny and Hendery are the top two outgoing members
Taeyong and Nari agree and mention how they respect them for this, with Nari commenting hoe she sometimes think’s about introducing herself or talking to someone and then just stands there for a while before leaving
Johnny laughs and mentions how even when they were trainees, she would do this and only give one word answers to peoples questions
But then Hendery mentions how once you are friends with Nari she is a completely different person who doesn’t stop talking
Both Johnny and Taeyong nod vigorously in agreement and Nari laughs
Taeyong then adds how Nari is very close with all the members, but when is surrounded by people who are more outgoing than me her she tend to be less loud
Nari’s recent behavior/habit is mixing languages, since she hangs out more with Wayv than she used to and she is learning Japanese so sometimes she’ll say 3 languages in one sentence
When Taeyong is asked to do aegyo Johnny mentions how Nari is good at aegyo and she just outright says “no not today” since apparently she’s been doing it so much recently, both for her comeback and because the hyungs buy her food when she does XD
Taeyong says spacing out and its a beautiful chaos and Nari translates it to Chinese and then Hendery translates the Chinese to English for Johnny
Taeyong also comments that Nari spaces out a lot
Nari talks about filming NCT World 2.0 and how to her it felt like she got to know members a lot better whilst having fun and how it felt like a school trip
When doing the ending comments Johnny grabs Nari into a hug and keeps holding her even as he says his bit
Nari tells fans to stay safe, eat well and not forget to sleep. She also asks them to anticipate their comeback and thanks them all for their amazing support throughout 2020
(Sorry this became so long)

Yes, I did.
Masterlist // Previous chapter // Next chapter
Why am I in bed?
I look around and see that I’m in the middle of the bed that Henry and I share back on the show, but the improvised wall between us is gone.
Back when I was growing up, we had one bedroom and one bed, where we had to squeeze in if we happened to be all home. That rarely happened. It was usually just me, or later on my dad joined, when he got back from work. On mom’s days off, she’d be in bed all day, resting from all those hard days at work. Sharing beds isn’t something that I really mind, even if the person I’m sharing with, is Henry Cavill.
‘You’re awake,’ I hear Henry’s deep voice and I look to my left, to see him standing up from a chair. He sits on the edge of the mattress, sinking into the soft material. ‘How are you?’
‘I don’t know,’ I mumble, pushing myself up straight. I’m not in the muddy clothes anymore and I look at Henry again, slightly worried and ashamed. Did he undress me?
‘Don’t worry,’ he calmly says, ‘Jennifer went with us. She changed you.’
I clear my throat, as I start fidgeting my hands, one of the many nervous ticks I have. ‘I’m sorry.’
‘Why?’ Henry asks.
‘We were leading and then…’ I sigh deeply, trying not to think about what happened to me. I never learned how to swim, but I always avoided waters like the plague. During my acting career, I only had to swim once, but I was with David Castañeda, who played my love interest. I let him know that I was scared of water. He promised me he wouldn’t let go and the director actually loved the twist we gave to that swimming pool scene.
However, David knew I was scared of water, but didn’t know I couldn’t swim. Now I told Henry and in a matter of days, the rest of the world will know too, when this episode will air.
Henry doesn’t say anything. I bet he is mad, I think to myself. Fuck, I really let him down, didn’t I?
‘I’m sorry,’ I say, ‘that I let you down.’
His gaze softens. ‘You didn’t,’ he tells me. ‘I shouldn’t have pushed. I should’ve calmed you down. It was obvious that it really scared you.’ Henry sighs deeply. ‘But Adelaide… Why can’t you swim?’ he asks.
I could tell him. The whole world will know I can’t swim in the near future, why not tell them the entire story? ‘We didn’t have the money back when I was younger to go for swimming lessons,’ I say. ‘And I haven’t had the chance to do it now.’
Henry nods. ‘There is a pool in the backyard,’ he says, a telling smile toying on his face. ‘How about, over the course of these two weeks, you and I try it. It’s not deep and I’m there with you every second.’
‘Why?’
He shrugs, as if he is a little embarrassed that he offered, but he shouldn’t be. It’s just that I’m surprised, because the last time someone offered something like that to me… That was so long ago. I think it was when I still lived at home. I always do everything myself and people on set know that I tend to be very independent, so they don’t try. But Henry doesn’t ask or offer, he just does it. In the days that I’ve come to know him, he has been nothing but a gentleman. He made me breakfast and when we were cooking dinner, the oil was splashing over the pan. Before I could step aside, Henry grabbed another pan to shield me from the hot oil. The way he lifted me up during the obstacle course when I couldn’t reach the bars and how he caught me when I fell.
‘Well,’ he says, ‘because I think everyone should know how to swim.’
I smile and say: ‘Well, let’s consider it,’ I say. ‘We finished last, didn’t we?’
‘Yeah, we did,’ he says. ‘But don’t apologize for it, please. I don’t want you to feel bad about it. We were really great during this first challenge, so we’ll climb our way back to the top.’ Henry sends me a dashing smile and I can’t help but blush a little bit. ‘How about you get ready for tonight, then I’ll go and make you something to eat.’
‘Ready for tonight?’
‘Trivia night,’ he says.
I nod. I can’t seem to tear my eyes from him, as I look into his soft eyes. When I first met him, I thought he had that stern look in his face and I still did think that from time to time, but in those days that we spend together, it never looked like this. ‘Right, I’ll get myself ready.’
After a fifteen minute shower, I get dressed in a jeans skirt, with a simple black shirt that I tugged in. I paired it with the same white sneakers I wore the first day. I keep my hair and make-up pretty simple.
Henry made some sandwiches. I never knew that I thought it was attractive that a man could cook, but I sure do know now. Come to think of this, I never really thought about what I wanted for traits in a man.
My parents were happy with one another, but I feared that one day, I ended up like them. Poor, overworked, with two kids and a husband, who maybe felt—just like my dad—that he had to take care of us. Besides, I never experienced love. I never fallen in love, I only had on stage kisses and sex scenes. It was never real.
Maybe I’m way ahead of myself, but I feel something. I feel cared for. I feel noticed. I feel appreciated. Like I’m worth it. And that’s all thanks to Henry Cavill.

Everyone seems concerned about me, but after I reassure everyone I am okay, we take place at three different tables, one for each duo. I take a seat on the chair. It’s a little colder than I imagined and I curse myself for not bring a jacket with me. I rub my upper arms as the crew is setting everything up, checking if our mics are working well enough, making sure the screen works.
Henry stands up as he wiggles out of his cosy vest, before placing it without a word on my shoulders.
‘Oh, that’s not necess— uh… needed,’ I say to him.
‘I’m not cold,’ he tells me, as he sits down next to me again. I want to stop my smile, but I can’t help it.
‘Thank you, Henry,’ I say in a soft tone, as if I don’t want him to hear me, but seeing how the corners of his mouth curl up, I know that he heard me.
The game is pretty simple: there is a host who asks a question and you have to answer it. It’s fairly easy and I almost feel like they are taking it easier because of me.
Every team has a button in front of them and ours meows like a cat.
‘What country won the first FIFA World Cup in 1930?’ the hosts asks.
Meow. ‘Uruguay,’ I answer, as I retract my hand from the button. .
Even the host seems impressed. ‘That is correct.’ On the screen behind him, I see that we are actually first now, with only one point, but it feels nice to be ahead of someone else, because of what I did. ‘Okay, next question. Which boxer was known as “the Great—’
Meow. That is not because of me, but because Henry slammed the button a little harder. Guess he doesn’t know how strong he is. ‘Muhammed Ali,’ he answers.
‘Correct.’ Why does the host not seem impressed now? Okay, this is nothing to be surprised about, so I should stop letting the subtle differences in reaction get to my head. It’s true, I’m pretty stupid according to the public.
And besides, we only had two questions and I had one right.
‘What animals have the longest gestation period?’
No one presses the button and I tap Henry on his leg. He looks at me and I usher him closer. ‘What is a gestation period?’
‘Pregnancy,’ he whispers, his hot breath against my lips, that start to tingle as a response. I shouldn’t get distracted because of that.
Meow. ‘An African Elephant,’ I answer.
We are ahead now with three points. I can’t help but beam with pride. Maybe the public will think a little more highly of me now.
‘What does HTTP stand for?’
Meow. ‘HyperText Transfer Protocol,’ Henry says with a smile.
‘What year was the first model of the iPhone released?’
Meow. ‘2007,’ Henry answers with ease.
He knows a lot, I think to myself. I look to the side for a second and I wonder what goes on in his head, right now and basically every single time we’re just alone. He can look at me in a way that I can’t explain and I don’t even understand why he looks at me like that.
We continue to answer multiple questions correctly and the meow is one of the only sounds that we hear. By the time we reached ten points, I discovered that Charlie and Jennifer’s sound is a bark and when we reached fifteen points, I found out that the Biebers’ sound was a chicken.
Who were the founders of Adidas? (Rudolf and Adolf Dassler—I knew this one.) Some Greek mythology questions that I knew nothing about, but Henry did and he seemed so giddy to explain it all to us, though no one seemed cared, besides me probably, because I could listen to this man for days on end. Together we knew the seven world wonders, who the Danish author was who wrote many fairy tales and they even asked us what Superman’s birth name was…
While Superman is in the room.
We are way ahead of everyone with twenty points, Charlie and Jennifer have ten (who knew that babies weren’t born with kneecaps—for knowing that alone I feel like they should win) and Justin and Hailey have nine. But the next question we can think about for a few seconds and it’s worth fifteen points. So we either become second or first, depends on how well we do.
‘Name these chemical elements of the periodic table. Ge, Sn, Rf, K and Ba.’
Henry places his arm on the back of my chair and leans over. Gosh, he is really close. Not that I’m complaining, but feeling his body heat so close to mine and it’s not even acting… Why does that make me feel all sorts of things?
‘Ge is Geranium,’ he whispers, ‘and Ba and Barium.’
‘K is Potassium,’ I say in a soft tone. ‘So we only have Sn and Rf left. Sn is Tin.’
‘You know a lot,’ he says with a smile.
Does he mean that? Did he just say I know a lot? Me, the Hollywood ditz? ‘Rf is Rutherfordium,’ I whisper.
Meow. Henry presses the button and he looks at me, non verbally asking me if I want to answer this, but I simply shake my head. He names them in order and everyone seems impressed, but before they can give him a compliment (I know the host is desperate to call him ‘Handsome Henry with a Brain’ again. He did it seven times already and it was annoying the first time, let alone the seventh time), Henry says: ‘I only knew Geranium and Barium. Adelaide is the real genius here.’
◎ ◎ ◎
It’s twelve ‘o clock when Henry and I are in bed, both staring at the ceiling. Normally I’m in bed long before he is, but today we’re awake in the bed together. The only reason why I get into bed early, is that I hope I can fall asleep before he gets in.
But not today.
‘I have something I want to ask you,’ Henry says. ‘I’ve been thinking about this for awhile.’
‘Okay?’
‘Are you dyslexic?’
He could’ve given me a slap across my face and that wouldn’t have shocked me as much as this question. I push myself up, so I’m sitting. ‘Why?’
‘Just wondering.’
I simply shrug. ‘I don’t know. I never got tested back in school.’
‘Why not?’ Henry sits up straight as well and from the corners of my eyes, I see him placing his pillow on the headboard. That one curl covers part of his forehead and it’s almost a signature look when we are in the cottage.
‘The teachers didn’t care and we didn’t have a lot of money,’ I explain. It feels weird and uncomfortable to open up to him, however on the other hand, it feels right to have this out in the open. ‘And I don’t want to get tested now,’ I whisper. ‘I’m an adult, I can manage.’ I finally force myself to look over my shoulders, only to see that same soft look in his eyes, that I almost grown accustomed to. ‘What?’
‘Nothing,’ he whispers. ‘I just want to say to you that I underestimated you and—’
I can’t help but chuckle. ‘You are not the only one,’ I interrupt him. ‘It’s okay.’
‘No, Adelaide, it’s not okay.’
The sternness in his voice, make me turn around on the mattress completely, so I can look at him. ‘I did it myself, Henry. Really, it’s okay, don’t worry about it.’
Henry moistens his lips, before he clears his throat. ‘Then I won’t worry about it. Just know that I—now—think very highly of you.’
‘You don’t need to,’ I say as a frown appears between my brows. ‘Henry, what is really the case?’
He rubs his face, resists even and he actually looks really frustrated. ‘It’s just that I’m trying to figure you out, but I can’t seem to actually get to know you.’
‘There is not much to know,’ I say, but he shakes his head and says: ‘There is. You are so intriguing, Adelaide, you don’t even know it.’
I don’t really know what to say. He thinks there is much to know about me and that I’m intriguing? ‘Oh.’
‘And I get that it can be hard to open up, truly, I know, but… We have to work together. Wouldn’t it be better if we knew something about each other?’
Okay, that’s a fair point. ‘You tell me something first,’ I say to him.
‘Like what?’ he says, genuinely looking relieved that I’m going along with it.
I tilt my head as I look in his eyes as I take in the brown spot on his left eye, that is surrounded by a beautiful blue. ‘You want to win?’
Henry frowns, probably confused by my question, but when he sees I’m dead serious, he nods. ‘Of course,’ he says, ‘I’m competitive. Why was that your question?’
‘Because now I know that I have to work extra hard not to let you down. It doesn’t really matter to me if I win or not.’
‘You won’t let me down, Adelaide.’
‘I did already,’ I say, ‘and don’t try to convince me otherwise. Now, what do you want to know about me?’
He tilts his head and says: ‘You have a nickname?’
And he thought my question was a bit weird? I snort. ‘My parents called me Dasom. That’s my Korean name.’
‘Really?’ he asks. ‘I didn’t know that.’
No one knows that. ‘But other than that I don’t really have a nickname. People call me Park every now and then, but that’s it.’
‘What does Dasom mean?’
‘Love,’ I whisper. ‘Because, as my parents always say: I was born out of pure love.’ I roll my eyes, because I hate the cliché, but thankfully I was born out of love. It meant that I was welcomed in their lives, though they were poor and barely had anything.
‘That’s sweet,’ he says. ‘So, no one called you Addy for example?’
‘Come to think of it, Keanu Reeves called me Addy every now and then. Especially when we were doing stunts for the movie and he had to encourage me.’
‘Can I call you Addy?’
The fact that he asks me if he can call me Addy, shows me that he is so much more than the news outlets let him to be. Of course, he is handsome, but there is more than just looks. He is intelligent, caring and a real gentleman. Though he can look slightly intimidating, he is a big softie. ‘I would like that, Henry.’
As much as I want to sleep, I can’t. I’m too awake for that, maybe because of the thrill that we are actually ahead of the others now. Who knows how long that will last…
‘You want to do something?’ Henry suggests. ‘I’m not as tired as I figured I would be.’
‘Like what?’
‘You want to swim?’
◎ ◎ ◎
Henry is already swimming laps in the pool, as I try to build up the courage to actually walk out of the door to the pool. I have a large towel wrapped around me, to hide my red and white striped bathing suit.
I can do this, I think to myself. I wore a skimpy bikini for a movie, I’ve been naked on sets with the crew around me. This isn’t too hard.
I walk out of the cottage and see that Henry leans with his under arms on the edge of the pool, placing his chin on one of them. ‘There you are,’ he says with a smile.
I dip my toe in the water and start to shiver, goosebumps appearing on my entire body. ‘It’s cold,’ I mumble. ‘And it looks too deep.’
‘It’s not. It’s only one meter sixty.’
‘I’m one fifty,’ I retort. ‘What if I drown?’
‘I’m not letting that happen,’ he says. ‘I promise you, Addy.’
The use of that nickname, makes my feel all sorts of things. Normally I’m not too keen on nicknames, but I could get used to this.
I fold the towel, before I place it on the floor and I sit on the edge of the pool, as my legs dangle in the cold water. Henry bumps his elbow against the side of my thigh and he asks: ‘Ready?’
Maybe it’s because of the dim lighting of the lanterns outside, or the reflection of the water, but he looks even more ethereal than other times. My eyes fall on his beautifully formed lips, that curl up in a smile.
‘I am,’ I say.
He stands in front of me and I place my hands on his broad and tight shoulders. I shimmy myself off the edge, into the cold water. Despite the fact that his large hands in the dips of my waist, makes me all warm from the inside, the water is really cold. Henry starts to laugh, probably because I scrunch up my entire face like I’m a Sharpei dog. ‘Maybe you should keep breathing, because I can’t have it that you pass out on me twice within one week.’
‘Shut up,’ I shiver, as I hold on tightly to his shoulders. ‘You’re not going to let me go, right?’ I ask, just in case.
‘Of course not,’ he whispers.
For a second I envision we’re having a moment together, but then I realize that’s not the case, because he takes a step backwards and we are further away from the edge. I can still reach over to my left, so I’m directly at the other edge, but it does terrify me a bit.
‘Henry,’ I say.
‘Yes?’
‘I’m scared.’
‘I know,’ he tells me, squeezing my waist to let me know that he is there. ‘But there is no need for you to be scared. You just have to grow comfortable in the water and that takes time.’ Henry’s voice is soft and I have to take a deep breath. ‘You’re doing great.’ He slowly takes more steps backwards and smiles at me, as if he knows that that comforts me.
After two laps of him walking backwards and me moving my legs (I don’t know why I do that, but it just happens), I feel more and more accustomed to the water. Still, I don’t want to let go of Henry for one single second, because the fear that I might drown is still there. For the other two laps, he wraps his arm around my waist, as I hold onto the edge and my other arm around his shoulder.
Henry lifts me on the edge, before he hoists himself next to me. He reaches behind him to grab my towel and wrap it securely around my shoulders. ‘How was it?’ he asks.
‘It was good,’ I admit. ‘I mean, I still don’t want to swim myself, but it’s not that scary anymore.’ I look to the side, only to discover that he was already looking at me. From the looks of it, he is looking at my lips, but I must’ve hallucinated that. ‘Thank you,’ I say, to break the silence between us.
‘You’re welcome,’ he says, his voice low.
I smile, before I stand up and hurry back inside. I was making that up, wasn’t I? He wasn’t totally staring at my lips?
Or was he?

Stargirl S1 E13 "Stars and Stripe Pt.2" Season Finale Spoiler Review.
Well this will be my last review for the season sadly. So everything below is Spoilers and are somewhat my opinion so if you haven't watched the episode stop now.
Seriously if you haven't you shouldn't continue on:
Tumblr media
Overall Episode: 10/10
Guys this is the end of S1 and I hate having to wait a year or so now to watch another episode and to see what happens.
The start of the episode oh my gosh that Satellite was epic when coming out of the ground from the football field. After the fact that Issac was beating up the person who called him a tuba turd with his tuba.
Seeing how Courtney and Pat's relationship has grown was one of my favorite scenes. Because of how Courtney admits finally that she is his daughter and it starting to break Pat out of his daze or mind control.
How Beth was able with the help of Chuck to hack into all of Gamblers bank account. And his love of money and her donating it to charity like man Beth is a good person by far. And then being able to bring back Pat and Justin for the team. She was probably the most epic in the episode out of the team without having a fighting scene.
THE FIGHT SCENE!!! My favorite overall scene in the season due to the action and how the JSA finally got Justice for the Golden Age JSA in the end. Like seriously they did that. And then how Cindy kills her father.
For a moment I believed Henry Jr. Was alive they had me there and then watching Yolanda kill him at first I was screaming and then I was so happy when it was just Henry Sr. Yolanda has gotten revenge for Henry Jr. Like damn she was impressive not being fooled by Brainwave I would have been.
STRIPE vs. Soloman Grundy was good other than Soloman Grundy tearing apart Stripe and Rick saving Pat and telling him to leave. Like man Rick has changed so much from E1.
Rick getting Justice in a sort for his parents. I do love how he spared Soloman Grundy after what he did to Ricks parents. But I feel like Rick saw something in Grundy being more innocent in a way or controlled by the ISA. Like maybe Brainwave controlled Soloman Grundy and made him do somethings.
Chuck's "death" scene was so sad I mean like I was crying for twenty minutes about this. But we will get Chuck back, and then Beth needs to get the owl Hootie I believe his name is.
Jordan confessing his love for Barbara it was beautiful in a creepy sense due to him being Evil and all. But you know we all expected it and it wasn't a bad scene it was more like Jordan your not going to win.
Pat saving Barbara. And Courtney fighting Jordan again. Until they fall and we all know how it ends him being "dead" maybe? Like who knows if he is truly dead he may have shattered but he is supposed to be hard to kill in icicle form. Even if he wasn't fully in form.
Justin leaving Blue Valley and trying to find some old friends and his steed. Like Justin deserves the best after what he has been through. And one day he will slay his dragons. And remember more about himself.
The Chirstmas scenes were also other scenes that have to be my favorite of the season and the episode. Due to it showing not only how close the team is as a family. But shows the whole emotion of what they have faced together brought them closer into a family from being strangers.
And last...Sylvester Pemberton being alive. I never suspected the scene coming because I think most of us thought we would see Icicle Jr. Or more of Cameron and Artemis. But it was a good twist leaving other things and questions of how he is alive for S2.
Some theories I have about S2 of Stargirl:
Henry King Jr is somehow Alive.
Cameron like most people believe becomes Icicle Jr. But I don't want to say he will be on one side more than another yet.
Maybe Rick and Beth becoming some what of a couple.
Eclipso will be the main villain. And I'm hoping somehow they bring in a character like Spectre and I will go further into detail in a theory post about this one later.
Icicle somehow being alive. Because part of me believes he was hurt badly but not fully killed. Their is still more they can explore with the storyline of Icicle.
Well guys this is sadly the end for me doing spoiler reviews for Stargirl at the moment until S2 E1. But I will be around making Theroies and continuing my Stargirl Fanfics. I want to thank everyone who enjoys and just looks over these reviews. I will see you I hope very soon in the future to do another one of these. Bye for now!

Speakers (Colt x MC)
Summary: Colt has had enough of his neighbor blasting the worst music in the middle of the night.
Author Note: Just something I thought of in the shower. I got carried away with the story and the characters, there’s so much I could write about this. But I’ll keep it a one part thing :,) This is my favorite story I’ve got so far
Book: Ride or Die: A Bad Boy Romance | Choices: Stories You Play (AU)
Pairing: Colt Kaneko x MC | Ellie Wheeler
Word Count: ~2.7k
Rating: Mature (swearing) this is mostly fluff.
I pressed my pillow into my face, trying to drown out the torturous music coming from next door. I physically couldn’t bare to listen to it anymore. This was my first night in my new apartment and I regretted moving away from my dad already. He obviously didn’t want me to be with his crew, for a reason I didn’t understand, so I decided to leave. I won’t stay where I’m unwanted. But if this keeps going, I’m going to lose my mind.
“Is that-- One Direction? Are you fucking serious?” I groaned loudly, not wanting to get up to face my neighbor. She’s probably a stupid teenage girl obsessed with Harry Styles or something. It’s not 2013 anymore, why is she still listening to them? The music stopped abruptly and I sighed with relief, placing the pillow back under my head. I closed my eyes and slowly drifted off in the silence. It felt like sleep was an inch away and in my grasp, but I was awoken suddenly.
“YOU’RE INSECURE, DON’T KNOW WHAT FOR!”
“Oh my fucking GOD!” I shouted, sitting up and banging on the wall, “Shut up!”
The music stopped once more and I calmed down. Finally, I was able to sleep comfortably without having to be tortured by the sound of British boys. I woke up the next morning feeling exhausted and irritable as usual, I checked my phone to find a message from Ximena. She had simply asked if I was coming over to the garage, an innocent yes or no question. Why would she even bother to text me? I put my phone in my pocket without answering.
Closing my apartment door, I stepped out into the hallway. The floor creaked, reminding me of how cheap my rent is. I made my way down shaky stairs, thinking about seeing the crew. If I’m being honest, they were fun to hang out with. They were tolerable, besides Logan. That guy presses all my buttons and the urge to punch him is almost irresistible.
I got to the parking lot, reaching into the pockets of my leather jacket for my keys. After searching in every spot on my body, I groaned. I had left them inside my room, how the fuck did I forget?
I turned back around and made my way back up the stairs, cursing under my breath. As I approached my door, I noticed a girl locking her door next to mine.
Oh, so this is the annoying Directioner.
Except, she didn’t look like just any teenage girl. Her hair was put into a tight braid off to the side of her shoulder and my eyes did indeed trail down her body. She was stunning, but that didn’t excuse the fact that she took away from my precious rest.
“Hey, you,” I called out to her and she turned to look at me in shock, her eyes widening innocently. I suddenly felt a twinge of guilt, I was on the verge of complaining about her music but I decided against it.
I closely examined her features, suddenly discouraged. I had to think of something else to say.
“Can I borrow your bobby pin?” I asked in a bored voice, she still looked like a deer in the headlights but she took a few seconds before relaxing.
“A bobby pin? For what?” Her voice was sweet and pretty, matching her exterior. Yet, I was still shocked at how innocent she sounded.
“It’s none of your business,” I said and she furrowed her eyebrows.
“Well then why should I let you borrow it?” She was suddenly angry, I was taken aback by her new attitude.
“You know what? Forget it,” I scoffed before turning away from her. She laughed and I looked at her again in frustration.
“I was joking,” She took the bobby pin out of her hair, making her bangs fall over her face, “Here.”
She handed it to me and my jaw clenched, not wanting to pay attention to her. As innocent as she seemed, I knew she was trying to get into my pants, which wasn’t going to happen.
“Thanks,” I went back to my door and began to pick the lock.
“Woah hold up, are you breaking into that room?”
“Uh, yeah?”
“Isn’t that like... Illegal?” She asked as she subtly freaked out, I chuckled. If only she knew the rest of it.
“Sure,” I continued.
“Should I be calling the cops or--”
“It’s my room,” I cut her off with a sigh.
“Ohhh,” She realized and cleared her throat, “Don’t bother giving it back. I’ve got millions more, um... Have a good day?” It sounded like a question.
“Okay,” I answered as I heard the lock click. I went inside, not saying goodbye to her. My keys were on my bed, of course. I picked them up before continuing with the rest of my day, not even thinking of her for a split second.
It wasn’t until that night, when the torture began again.
“YOU GET THE LIMO OUT FRONT--”
“Fuck, not this again,” I whispered to myself, standing up. More than anything, I wanted to go banging on her door to complain. But as I was opening my door, I remembered that she had done me a favor earlier. The anger in my body subsided and I breathed slowly. Ellie was pissing me off.
“YOU GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS--”
“Can she at least pick good songs?” I slammed my door shut and went back to bed. Somehow, I managed to sleep with Hannah Montana playing next door.
I woke up later than usual the next day, getting ready in a better mood than usual. As I stepped out of my apartment, I noticed a note left on my doorstep. I was suddenly alarmed, was this a message from someone out to kill me and my father? I pulled my phone out, ready to dial the crew. I picked up the note and immediately, I lost all my excitement.
“Any song recommendations?”
Is she serious?
I went back into my room and grabbed a pen. Angrily, I scribbled a note back to her, “Just stop playing your fucking music at three in the morning.”
I pushed it under her door and continued with my day. The crew didn’t have much coming up lately and I was beyond bored. I laid in my bed, slamming my door to piss off my neighbor.
Immediately as I pulled out my phone, the music began.
“WHY YOU GOTTA BE SO RUDE?”
I chuckled, since she purposely picked that part of the song to start with. She was taunting me. As much as I hated pop songs like this one, I found myself tapping the side of my phone with the beat.
The music stopped and I figured she went to sleep, it was late anyway. I had no reason to stay up anymore, so I drifted off.
The music continued for days and it went back to being annoying. I had actually gone to tell her to shut it off after coming home from the garage, Logan had started a fight with me and I wasn’t taking any shit. Her music had been turned lower, it was all she had changed.
I was thankful that she wasn’t blasting her speakers anymore.
However, one night was different. She had her music crazily low, but I still heard it, of course. I pressed my ear to the wall, curious as to what she was listening to, wondering why the daily routine had changed.
“I heard that you're settled down That you found a girl and you're married now”
"Adele? She’s never played that,” I whispered to myself, acknowledging the change of music. She was always listening to peppy love songs, but I guess she wasn’t feeling it tonight.
This continued for a month, she played heartbreak songs at least once a week. There were days in which she didn’t listen to music at all, sometimes I’d hear her sing along. She wasn’t good, definitely not, but it was something different.
One night, I heard her playing The One That Got Away by Katy Perry. I had enough of it, I was dying of curiosity. I got up and left my room. I knocked on her door softly, as opposed to the aggressive knocks I’d do when I was telling her to shut up. The music stopped and the door clicked open. She peeked her head over the corner and her tear filled eyes widened as she saw me.
“Colt?” She asked before hiding behind the door, sniffling and I guessed wiping the tears away. She motioned for me to come in and I stepped inside. I felt suddenly uncomfortable, I liked knowing things and that was the ONLY reason that I was there. Obviously, something had happened with her and it was crucial for me to find out.
“What’s with the emo music lately? What happened to Justin Bieber?” I questioned as she looked at me with her bloodshot eyes.
“Why do you care? I thought you hated it anyway,” She chuckled sadly, sniffling again. That was the thing, I didn’t care, so I don’t even know why I was there.
“I don’t care, I’m just... Curious,” I explained cautiously to make sure she doesn’t sob even more. I hated seeing people cry, it pissed me off.
“I’ve had nobody to talk about it to, Riya hated Joseph and is glad that he dumped me,” She said, as if I knew who that person was, “So I guess I can tell you.”
Before I knew it, I was sitting on her bed with her and she was ranting to me about her break up. Honestly, I was far too intrigued in her story. I even felt anger at some points, hearing about how that guy treated her.
It simply reminded me that I would never get into a relationship, that stuff sounded overly complicated and stressful.
She had a whole box of tissues beside her and she constantly wiped her tears away. How the fuck did someone cry so much? Is that even physically possible?
She finished telling me all about their relationship and I was left wanting to know more. She checked the time on her phone.
“Oh my gosh, it’s five in the morning!” She exclaimed, “I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to keep you up this late, I got carried away. It’s nice having someone to talk to,” She smiled sadly.
True, she had talked so much. But I didn’t mind it for some reason, she was an interesting person. She was genuinely innocent, there was no dirt on her. Hell, she was a virgin before she dated that prick.
We said goodbye to each other, not planning to see each other after this.
But the meetings continued, every single night for a month. The first few weeks consisted of her telling me stories about him and how much she liked him. She was healing, it was apparent in her attitude when speaking of him.
One night, we were sitting in front of her TV eating popcorn and watching Criminal Minds. This was usual for us at this point, I considered her a friend. Being with her was like inhaling fresh air, she was so much different from me, it was fascinating to see life in a different perspective.
There was a knock on her door and she quickly got up to open it, I turned around to check who was there. But by the way she froze, I knew immediately who it was. I made my way to her side instantly, pulling her behind me protectively.
“Joseph,” I snarled at the man at the door. He looked offended by my appearance. He seemed hostile.
“Do I know you?” He asked and his breath reeked of alcohol, I would’ve gagged if I wasn’t used to it, the men at the sideshows smelled so bad. Don’t get me started on Salvador.
“No, but I know you. Get out of here,” I jerked my head for him to leave. I felt Ellie’s hand beside mine and linked our fingers together, feeling her trembling.
“What are you? Her new boyfriend?” Joseph scoffed and I felt my jaw clench with irritation.
“Yeah, now beat it,” I lied, not caring about what she would have to say. The skinny blonde boy’s mouth gaped open and he scowled. He must’ve felt that I was going to knock him out, because he furrowed his eyebrows and left without another word. I closed the door and turned to a shocked Ellie.
“It’s nothing,” She said, wide eyed. I really didn’t know what she was on about, I shrugged, realizing that our hands had separated. I made my way back to the couch, rewinding the episode. She sat beside me, she was distant this time.
“How was it? Seeing him after so long, I mean.”
“I’m just... Unsettled. I didn’t expect him to come here, I wasn’t ready,” She whispered and I heard her voice crack as she started crying.
As I’d mentioned before, watching people cry pissed me off. But I was angry for other reasons, I hated seeing how that bastard hurt her.
I never knew what to do, nobody had ever comforted me. So, I just settled for putting my hand on her knee and rubbing my thumb on it soothingly. Except, this time, she did something differently. She wrapped her arms around me.
I was stiff at first, my eyes widening as shock made its way through my body. I awkwardly hugged her back, this wasn’t something I was used to...But I liked it.
I relaxed slightly and buried my face in her neck, she smelled like strawberry shampoo. Her weeping slowed and she pulled away, I felt embarrassment flush through me. I never hugged people, I hated being touched, I wouldn’t even let my mom do it. Yet, Ellie Wheeler was nice to hold.
I noticed her mood was ruined by his sudden appearance and I came up with the perfect plan to make her stop being mopey.
I took her phone and connected it to the cursed speaker she had next to her television. My fingerprint was already registered, since she thought it would be good for emergencies. I opened up Spotify and searched up something I never thought I would do, but I was desperate to see her stop crying.
“MY FRIENDS SAY I’M A FOOL TO THINK THAT YOU’RE THE ONE--”
“Colt,” She gasped, a smile coming onto her face, “Are you playing 2009 Justin Bieber?” I rolled my eyes and went up to her, putting her hand in mine and pulling her up on her feet.
“What are we doing?” She asked as she examined my face, I wasn’t smiling.
“We’re blasting music at three in the morning,” I answered, accidentally grinning at her. Her mood had changed in an instant, she dragged me into the open space of her living room. Before I knew it, she was jumping up and down and singing at the top of her lungs.
“LOVE ME, LOVE ME, SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME!”
She was lost in the music and I was just watching her admiringly.
“Come on,” She took my hand and before I could protest, she pouted. My mouth gaped open, in disbelief that she thought that would convince me to dance with her. I wish I wasn’t so easily controlled by her.
Everything else in my mind had disappeared, my hate for dancing had been thrown out the window. It was just us right now. The song ended way too soon an we were left laughing and out of breath from jumping up and down. The neighbors below us were probably pissed off, but we could care less.
She looked so beautiful, her usual braid was messy and her eyes were still red from crying over that asshole. But I couldn’t help myself, I was staring at her lips and she smiled as she noticed.
“Go for it,” She said as her cheeks turned pink, “You’re my boyfriend, after all.”
I rolled my eyes at her joke, but I didn’t lose the chance. I kissed her.

We are so excited to have Farah Naz Rishi on Rich in Color today! Farah's science-fiction book, I HOPE YOU GET THIS MESSAGE, came out last month, and we're thrilled to have her here to talk about it:
Seven days. Seven days. The Earth might end in seven days.
When news stations start reporting that Earth has been contacted by a planet named Alma, the world is abuzz with rumors that the alien entity is giving mankind only few days to live before they hit the kill switch on civilization.
For high school truant Jesse Hewitt, though, nothing has ever felt permanent. Not the guys he hooks up with. Not the jobs his underpaid mom works so hard to hold down. Life has dealt him one bad blow after another — so what does it matter if it all ends now? Cate Collins, on the other hand, is desperate to use this time to find the father she’s never met, the man she grew up hearing wild stories about, most of which she didn’t believe. And then there’s Adeem Khan. While coding and computer programming have always come easily to him, forgiveness doesn’t. He can’t seem to forgive his sister for leaving, even though it’s his last chance.
With only seven days to face their truths and right their wrongs, Jesse, Cate, and Adeem’s paths collide even as their worlds are pulled apart.
I was intrigued when I first heard about I HOPE YOU GET THIS MESSAGE. What were you most excited about when you were writing this book?
My favorite thing about writing is dialogue, so I was super excited to see how these three very different characters would interact. What would they say? What would they think? I honestly wasn't sure, in the beginning. But I love that about writing: sometimes you don't really know what things are going to look like until they're on the page. And that was certainly the case with these characters.
I was also looking forward to the research. I had to do a lot of it for this book--on aliens and space communication, and radios--and though it was daunting, at times, it was also really fun.
Why did you decide to tell this story from multiple POVs rather than one?
I adore books with multiple POVs. I also think having multiple POVs is like having multiple books in one--every story has different ways of being told, right?--so being able to write one is a wonderful creative exercise. And in the case of IHYGTM, I believed I would be doing a disservice to the characters unless I allowed them all to have their own voice.
I love it when science fiction includes alien civilizations. What can you tell us about Alma and their decision to judge humanity?
Oh gosh, you know the sad thing is that 90% of the worldbuilding I did for Alma never made it on the page. I basically have a compendium for them that will never see the light of day! But simply put, the Almaens are a hyper-intelligent humanoid species that, as a society, value logic above all else. They have no room for concepts like faith, which is defined, in a sense, by its illogicality. They're almost god-like, beyond us in their thinking. So when they look at humanity, they review its past and present--its actions unto themselves and the planet they live upon--and not much else. The future is an unknown factor, so they attempt to discount that. However, I believe that all species, that all Life, no matter how intelligent, necessarily holds on to faith. I think we have to; we can't help it. To live means to struggle to hold on to that faith. And if that's true, then how does that affect Alma's final decision regarding us? I tried to write them ambiguously so Almaens could basically be a stand-in for the readers' understanding of what a Higher Power could be, so the answer to that question--why or why wouldn't they spare us--is a personal one. You'll see in the ending :)
What do you think you would do if you thought the world would end in seven days? What messages would you want to communicate?
Honestly, the only message I would want to communicate is the one to my favorite bakery telling them I needed a giant chocolate peanut butter cake, stat. If the world's ending, I only want to do the things I love, and that's playing video games and eating cake. Lots and lots of cake.
What are some of your science fiction inspirations?
The Mass Effect video game trilogy! But I've also recently started watching The Expanse and LOVE it.
You’ve worked as a voice actor, lawyer, video game journalist, and editorial assistant. What drew you to writing, and why did you decide to write a young adult book?
When I first started writing, I had just graduated law school, and moved back home to stay with my family; my dad had been diagnosed with cancer, and wasn't given much time to live. I began to write as a way to sort out a storm of complicated emotions--anxiety over my future as a lawyer, fear over losing my dad and what it might do to the rest of us left behind--and it kind of just...stuck. I mention this in my author letter in the ARCs for IHYGTM, but throughout writing this novel, I lost my dad, then my little brother, and finally, my mom. Losing my dad was only the beginning, and writing was the only way I knew how to process it all. Part of it always will be.
As for writing a young adult book, I genuinely believe the young adult audience is the best audience. Kids and teens are more receptive and open; I think they're better readers, frankly. Even though they're the most vulnerable of us, I find that as a whole, they're unafraid of truth and consequences. And they bounce back faster. I admire that. There's this part in Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse where Uncle Aaron tells Miles: "You're the best of us, Miles." That's how I feel about the YA audience.
What were some of your favorite 2019 YA books by or about people of color or people from First/Native Nations?
WE HUNT THE FLAME by Hafsah Faizal, LOVE FROM A TO Z by S.K. Ali, and OPPOSITE OF ALWAYS by Justin A. Reynolds are just a few of my newest favs!
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about I HOPE YOU GET THIS MESSAGE?
Thank you for reading it and giving me and my disaster kids a chance :)
You're welcome! And thank you for stopping by!
Farah Naz Rishi is a Pakistani-American Muslim writer and voice actor, but in another life, she’s worked stints as a lawyer, a video game journalist, and an editorial assistant. She received her B.A. in English from Bryn Mawr College, her J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School, and her love of weaving stories from the Odyssey Writing Workshop. When she’s not writing, she’s probably hanging out with video game characters. You can find her at home in Philadelphia, or on Twitter at @far_ah_way.

The past two quarantine months have been like nothing I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime, and I turned 56 in January. So rather than regurgitate what you’ve likely read in the news or on social media, I’ve decided to share how I’ve spent my time these past two months along with random thoughts. I hope you’ll continue along with me as I share what I’m doing each week.
Books
Oh, how I’ve missed reading! With my business so insanely busy (for which I’m truly grateful) these past few years, I’ve barely had time to read little more than Slack, emails, texts, and social media updates. Not exactly satisfying for this lifelong, avid reader. This quarantine has allowed me a little bit of extra time, which I’ve put to good use.
In no particular order, here’s what I’ve read:
The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow is fantastic. Read it in one sitting because I didn’t want any of the details of this lacy, incredibly intricate work to fade. I highly recommend it. A mix of fantasy, drama, and a love story (because in the end, aren’t all stories love stories?), anyone with a working brain will love this novel.
Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is also superb. I’d heard about this book for a while, yet only got around to it because it’s also now a mini-series on Hulu (which I watched afterward – also very good, though the character arcs and the plot changed in crucial, at times startling, ways).
Curious if you’ve read the book and watched the series, what your thoughts are? I could write an entire post about it, yet I’ll only share this…
As a child, my parents hire a housekeeper. My folks both work full-time and we are not in any way rich or well-off. Neither of my folks has college degrees – Dad is an assistant manager at a chain drugstore and Mom has just completed x-ray tech school and works nights at San Bernardino County Hospital. We live in a small house on a long street in the smoggy Inland Empire of California.
There are two of us, my older sister and me. Then my mom gets pregnant when I’m nine and has my baby sister when I’m ten. My folks advertise for a housekeeper and Miss Louise answers. She’s African American and willing to work for the little they can pay her. She smokes a lot (outside only, so as “not to hurt the babies”), insists on wearing a uniform though my mom tells her it isn’t necessary and comes looking for us in her big old white Caddy if we aren’t home from school exactly 20 minutes after it lets out.
(Miss Louise’s husband’s name is George. If you are alive in the 70s and watch The Jeffersons, you understand why this is an endless source of amusement to my sister Caren and me.)
Being that young, neither Caren nor I understand what privilege means. We didn’t get whatever we wanted because my parents are always strapped, yet there is food on the table, and the lights are always on. Except for the occasional venture to Disneyland or Knott’s Berry Farm that one time (mom hated it), our vacations consist of driving to visit our Zayde (great-grandfather) in a nursing home in Santa Cruz, or some other relatives we don’t know somewhere in L.A. (I remember one great-aunt who drank. A lot.) We’d always stop at Cantor’s for a soup and sandwich (the highlight for us), and be back on the road. We don’t mind because it is anywhere but home.
Anyway – my entire point is that in Little Fires Everywhere – the show – Kerry Washington’s Mia is an artist who takes a maid job with Reese Witherspoon’s Elena Richardson’s family to keep an eye on her daughter Pearl, who is quite taken with the teenage Richardson clan. The racial and financial dichotomy is blatantly obvious: a rich family who’s seemingly got it all vs. a seemingly poor black single mother, which adds to the ‘fires’ mentioned in the title.
The book really made me think about my own privilege and despite how well my folks treated Louise, and how much we loved her, and she us, there would always be that wall. Granted, it was a business arrangement and my folks paid her for her services, and in truth, anyone could’ve answered the housekeeping ad. The fact that she was African American and we were white created a racial divide that’s undeniable.
The third book I read is Certain Cure by Jennifer Valoppi, also excellent. It’s the first in a series (parts two and three aren’t out yet, darn it). The novel chronicles the life of three generations of the Cummings family; Claire, a woman in her 70s who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, Helene, her television journalist daughter and Justin, the teenage grandson whose adoration of his “Grams” leads him to discover the dark secret behind the miracle technology that is not only curing Claire of her cancer but tempting his mother with eternal youth, as traditional medical industries wage war against the mysterious doctor from China who threatens them all.
I had no idea what to expect with this one, and I’m glad I read it. Valoppi is a former TV journalist from NYC so she knows her stuff. I’m not particularly religious (or scientific), yet I didn’t find either the science or religious stuff bogged me down.  Fascinating read. I highly recommend it.
Movies and Shows
Gosh, so many. With four of us in the house (and two teens), it’s worth it to me to pay for Hulu and Netflix, Amazon Prime Video comes with my Amazon Prime membership already, plus my internet plan comes with AT&T Direct, Showtime, HBO, and other premium channels. For the amount of entertainment, it’s worth the money.
I watch movies and shows on my iPad at night, once I’m finally off my computer. I don’t know about you, but I don’t like a super loud TV with stereo surround-sound barking at me after a long day of noise and stress. So I go upstairs to my cozy bed, surround myself with blankets and pillows and cats, and snuggle in for a few hours to watch a movie or a few episodes of something I enjoy.
Another note: not a big ‘reality TV’ watcher, mostly because, as a writer, I prefer well-written shows. I also don’t like the negativity and yelling normally associated with those shows. That said, I do watch Vanderpump Rules (on Bravo) with my daughter (age 20). We bond.
Shows
Here’s what I’ve binged these past few quarantine months, show-wise (no links because you can Google):
Ray Donovan – ggggggreat! Heard it was wonderful, yet truly had no idea how awesome. Liev Schrieber is captivating as Ray. Flawed, human, sad, and, in case you don’t know, a childhood sexual abuse survivor (church abuse). I had no idea going in this would be a theme of the show, yet it was handled with care and truth. The entire supporting cast is also amazing. Every season is great. Watch it all. I hated to see it end.
Homeland – the first four or so seasons were mesmerizing. Then, I got bored. This last season had me falling asleep and then WHAM! that ending. Worth it.
Hunters – Good, not fantastically great. The twist in the last episode will get you, though.
Upload – Loved it! Thought it would be silliness (and in some places, it was, but that’s okay – we need a little silliness right now). Had a ton of heart which I love.
Bosch – come on, it’s Titus Welliver. He’s fantastic. This last season didn’t draw me in as much as the entire rest of the series, though. You?
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – terrific, all of it. Every season, every episode, every character.
Tales From The Loop – amazing. Anything having to do with time-travel or the bending of time, I’m a total sucker for. This hurt my brain in a good way.
The Feed – weird but good and thought-provoking.
Dark – by far, my favorite show year. A German show dubbed in English (you get used to it – don’t let that scare you off), this time-bending, decade-moving hit show spans two seasons and every episode is worth watching. And the music – my god. Amazing. Here’s a Spotify playlist link.
Movies
Parasite – thought-provoking. Took a while to get into it and then boom! It just goes full-on insanity. Well-written, well-acted, and the message of the movie is just, wow. No spoilers in case you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it.
Hustlers – loved it. Whatever issues people have with strip clubs and ‘dancers,’ get over it. These girls are amazingly talented, are in amazing shape, and work hard to make money for their families. What I loved the most about the movie is that it’s all about the women; the men are only there as a plot device. It’s a movie entirely shot through the ‘female gaze’ (though of course, men will enjoy the dance scenes which are sexy, yet not unclothed). How many movies can say that?
Memento – I think I’m probably one of the few people who had never seen this neo-noir psychological thriller starring Guy Pearce looking like Brad Pitt (who was originally considered for the role). It was great, I think? LOL. My brain still hurts.
Call Me By Your Name – Lovely, sad, gorgeous. (And I will not make a juvenile peach joke.) And the music! Oh, my.
Zombieland – I hate zombies, I hate horror movies. I hate gore and squishy sounds. This movie was cute. (Not ready for the sequel, yet.)
Music
As mentioned above, the music in Dark sent me off on a ‘who are these talented musicians?’ lark. I’ve discovered so many. Here is who I’m listening to right now (all free on Spotify) and links provided here:
Apparat (you’ll recognize the opening theme of Dark and stay for the rest).
Agnes Obel – wondrous. I’ve played her entire catalog repeatedly since discovering her music on Dark. She’s become a commercial favorite as well now. Familiar is the song used in the show that’s received the most play.
Alev Lanz – otherworldly. I’ve not heard anyone like her. Her songs on the Dark soundtrack and Black Mirror are what she’s most noted for (May The Angels, and Fall Into Me, respectively), however, I love all of her work. Her harmonies are like nothing else. One song is layered with her voice and African throat singers – it’s gorgeous (May The Angels). She’s active on Twitter and we’ve interacted a few times. She’s beautifully transparent about her love of music and it shows in all her work.
Patrick Watson – I heard this song, Good Morning Mr. Wolf, on the Ray Donovan soundtrack and immediately clicked my SoundHound app. Who is this talented being? This song, in particular, sounds so large and cinematic – I wondered – is he is a film composer? (yes). A band? (yes). And so much more. I cannot get enough of all of his music, and still, I play this one song on repeat – repeatedly.
London Grammar – I discovered this band a few years ago and still adore them. Strong is still my favorite song, though Rooting For You is a close second. Hannah Reid’s vocals are big and beautiful.
Hilary Woods – ethereal and lovely. Especially the song Kith.
Sufjan Stevens – many of us just discovered him from the movie Call Me By Your Name soundscore, however, he’s been a working musician since the early 2000s. Talented beyond.
I could go on and on, but I’ll stop here. I made a Female Rockers list on Spotify which you’re welcome to.
Thoughts on Quarantine
My Business
Living in California, I’ve barely left the house in two months, with the exception of going to the pharmacy for meds or for the occasional physician appointment for me or the kids, because of the quarantine restrictions in place. And I’m okay with that.
I’m fortunate that my business is primarily online-only: I work with authors and small businesses on their branding, marketing, and promotion, so given that all real-life events are off the table, I’ve been quite busy working with my clients to ensure their products and services are still viable.
This doesn’t mean I don’t need help as a small business. I applied for an SBA loan and couldn’t even get onto the website the first time – it was pretty ridiculous – like the end scene in Beetlejuice. You all know who those first small business loans went to, right? Not small-potatoes people like me. So the second time around, it went much smoother, and I’m grateful to have received a small loan which will definitely help me keep going with rent, insurance, and other expenses.
I still did my annual non-profit initiative for writers, NaNoProMo (National Novel Promotion Month) this year over on my business site, BadRedhead Media, yet only for two weeks instead of the entire month. Daily blog posts from experts on everything publishing-related plus amazing giveaways. It’s always exhausting, yet I find enormous gratification in helping writers.
This year, however, getting writers to comment to win amazing, FREE giveaways was like pushing a house up a hill. I get it – people are focused on putting food on the table instead of commenting on blog posts, even if the giveaways were worth $500. That’s why I wanted to do this initiative this year – to help writers who are in a jam – yet only a smattering of writers participated.
I’m seriously rethinking if I want to do it next year given the financial cost as well as the personal toll. My first therapist, who I started seeing after I gave birth to my daughter Anya (I was terrified to leave her to go back to work, given my history with childhood sexual abuse), gave me this tip whenever I had trouble deciding whether to do something:
“If you ever aren’t sure if you should do something, ask yourself this question: Is this good for Rachel? If the answer is yes, do it. If the answer is no, don’t. It really is that simple.”
Self-care, y’all.
Social Media
I’ve stopped interacting with the crazies on social media (and who knows, maybe you’re one of them so truly, no offense), but I’d rather stay safe and keep my family safe by working exclusively at home – which I mostly do anyway – than venture back into face-to-face meetings with clients. I support four people with my business and if something happens to me, four people are doomed.
So the answer is simple to me: stay home, work from home, and don’t risk dying from this virus.
I don’t buy into any of this ridiculous conspiracy crap. Sorry, not sorry. You can if you want to. Spending time arguing with people online about it takes away time from my business, my kids, my guy, and my own sanity. Speaking of which…
Mental Health
There were a few mix-ups with my meds when this all started, and I couldn’t get my prescriptions filled and delivered before I ran out, so I ended up having about a week of insomnia which I’ve never had to deal with. I was a zombie (the non-squishy kind) and it sucked.
If you have insomnia, I’m sorry. I feel for you.
It’s all straightened out now, thank goodness. My son Lukas and I donned our masks and drove to the local CVS the other day because I couldn’t wait two days for my meds to be delivered. It felt like walking into a dystopian future walking in there: everyone in masks, tape six feet apart for the waiting line, plexiglass between us and the cashiers.
I’m thankful for these measures, of course, and wonder how long we’ll need them, or if this is our new normal?
My Writing
I finished the final edits on Broken People and sent it back to my editor. She’s had some health issues, so the delay is understandable. To be honest, I’m not in a huge hurry to launch a new book right now. Here are the questions that run through my mind:
Do people have money to purchase a new book?
If they do, will they want to read my new book?
If they do want to read my new book, will they take the money they do have to read mine, and then review it?
Does it even matter in the grand scheme of life?
I’m an author just like any author – I want to get my work out there so people can read it, engage with it, connect with me. I hope they’ll like it, feel something, reflect on their own lives, learn something new, particularly about being a childhood sexual abuse survivor. It’s a weird limbo to be in right now.
Our New Normal
This phrase is bandied about quite a lot yet let’s face it: it’s life as we know it, now. The anxiety is real, too. I haven’t hugged or kissed my elderly parents who live two miles away in two months. I bring them toilet paper and cookies from our favorite bakery (drive up and trunk drop off, pay online only) and drop it on their porch.
All these scenarios run through my mind: If I go to do this, what happens if? I know I’m not the only one. And yet, we can’t predict anything. So I sit here, writing this post, safe inside my little house bubble, grateful I can pay my rent, put food on the table (delivered by Instacart, thankfully), and everyone around me is healthy.
What’s your new normal? What have you been reading, watching, and listening to? If you’ve stuck it out this far, I thank you. Would love to hear your comments! Safe hugs, y’all.
