HOT TAKE TOURNAMENT!
TOURNAMENT OVERTIME #166

Submission 515
if you must ship Jesus with one of his disciples then at least ship him with John
look I'm a Christian (but like not the bad kind) and I don't personally ship Jesus with anyone cause that feels a bit too much rpf-y for me but I see people (jokingly, I assume, for the most part, but also this is the internet so I know some people are very serious about this) ship Jesus with either Judas or Peter and like....... tell me your knowledge of the Bible is the few Bible stories you remembered from sunday school as a kid without telling me that your knowledge of the Bible is the few Bible stories you remembered from sunday school as a kid. like yeah sure there's all these great stories about these guys that kids learn about! everyone who has some basic knowledge of the whole easter deal knows Judas and if you've learned any stories about Jesus with the disciples then you probably know about Peter. but like........ John is the guy. like go read the book of John if you don't believe me. like this is the guy who is canonically (fun reminder that the term "canon" originates from people discussing the Bible long long ago) "the disciple who Jesus loved." like Sufjan Stevens, king of "is he talking about his boyfriend or Jesus" refers to John & Jesus' relationships in his song "John My Beloved" which is hella gay and like it's all right there!!!!!! like this is so strange for me to be invested in because I'm not like someone who actively ships them but like if I wasn't religious and all I would be all over this and the fact that people keep being like "hehe Jesus and Judas~~~" when there's like no textual evidence for that!!! it's just people seeing the kiss of betrayal and liking some dramatic stuff!!! and the people who bring up Peter instead are the same!!! like you're just applying fanfic tropes to a dynamic and deciding that you like it instead of like looking at what's actually there in canon!!!!!!!! like at least do cool blasphemy or whatever I hate that I care about this. I hate that I wrote all of this. I have no dog in this fight. whoever wins I lose because I don't want to care about this in any way but I do and it's horrible and I just wish people would at least talk about the guy who when having to read his gospel like a year ago for something, I was left with the thought of "huh....... if I didn't know any better I'd say that there was something going on here"
Propaganda is encouraged!
Also, remember to reblog your favourite polls for exposure!
Now this is the discourse I live for.
Also, if your otp is chriscariot (Jesus/Judas) or chrisrock (Jesus/Simon Peter), fight for your ship in the notes!

"that and johnny is secretly very ticklish" AAAAAAAA YOU CAN'T JUST SAY THAT. HEART EYES RN. ELABORATEEEE I LOVE THE FLUFFY STUUUFF
hehehe I got you anon (and here's the otp ask meme I did for Johnshi for some context for this ask)
Johnny is secretly incredibly ticklish. if he and a partner are lounging around, relaxed, any hand that creeps too close to his hips or his neck will send him into a fit of giggles. he can suppress it if he tries (and if he's fighting), but most of the time, he'll giggle and give himself away.
Kenshi finds out by accident. he and Johnny are making out, as couples do, and his hands move to Johnny's lower back and creep toward his sides without thinking. Johnny pulls away from the kiss to laugh, and Kenshi leans back and realizes immediately what has just happened.
"…you're ticklish?" he's teasing.
Johnny shakes his head, suddenly sheepish. "no?"
"are you sure?" Kenshi moves his hand further into his side, and Johnny's hardly suppressed giggling and squirming are all the answers Kenshi needs.
Kenshi takes advantage of Johnny's ticklishness when he least expects it. they'll be kissing and Kenshi will tickle his sides, reminiscent of his first discovery. Johnny will laugh into their kiss and pull away, making music right in Kenshi's ears for him to replay when he's alone. other times, Johnny will be particularly immature, hoping to get a reaction from Kenshi. he gets one, but it's in the form of Kenshi kissing his neck where he knows he's the most ticklish. Johnny never learns and keeps doing it again and again. (Kenshi has a sneaking suspicion that he acts like this on purpose, just so Kenshi will kiss his neck and tickle him…? but he has no real evidence.)
when they're in a more playful mood, Kenshi will actively tickle Johnny until he's breathless and red. all in good fun <3
(luckily for you, anon, @yikesb3rg has some amazing art that I think you would really like. here, here, and here.)

What's the problem with Deku's writing?
well for one he's a main character. which is strike one.
technically that's a joke but also not. there's a lot angles i could take in order to complain about deku, so for now i want to take the angle that as a main character, there are things that are going to be taken for granted as endgame for the narrative, but it's so taken for granted that the story forgets about the actual material needed to reach the endgame.
i'm going to use ofmd s2 as an example of this, because it's another thing i like to point at and go :) bad writing. so for that, it's very evident that the writers are aiming for "ed and stede are together and are ready to embark on a new, more mature phase of their life together". you can tell this because the showrunner was constantly talking about it in interviews. and indeed, the season ends with ed and stede parting ways with their crew and pirate life to try their hands as innkeepers.
but to reach that endgame, the series has to a) get stede and ed back together as soon possible, meaning they have to lean heavily on coincidence rather than any real efforts on the part of the characters, b) resolve the very emotionally stark situations the characters had left s1/started s2 in a way that makes the happy innkeeper endgame possible, but this makes the segue from drama to resolution unbelievable because the series can't really dedicate the time to dealing with that fallout before hopping onto the next big issue, which c) means that the ways that the other characters have been hurt as a result ed and stede's relationship drama have their pain sidelined and shrugged off, and in turn d) the focus on ensuring that ed and stede are together and in love means that their relationships with other characters get de-emphasized and feel much less lived, which rebounds and makes ed and stede feel more one-dimensional without the magic that fleshed them out. and most dire of all e) the audience is expected to believe that "sorry i was a dick" "you're not a dick life's a dick" is meant to indicate a development of maturity that means they are able to go off and be innkeepers together. it is NOT there.
essentially, the focus on a specific endgame without care about how that endgame is achieved ends up undercutting the triumph and catharsis of that endgame, rendering it much more hollow. people still enjoyed ofmd s2, and they're allowed to! but they enjoy it because their otp ended the season standing next to each other. three feet part. not for any genuine critical acclaim.
it's a similar issue with deku, especially in this final arc. his obvious endgame is that he'll affirm shigaraki's humanity and pain, "save" him (what that looks like yet, we don't know), and in turn become the greatest hero. we've got all the bones of that - just recently in 411, deku did his whole "you ARE human" declaration. but the lead up to deku and shigaraki's confrontation is thematically shallow and heavily dependent on us knowing that deku is a great kid and a great hero.
deku starts the third act realizing that if he understood the villains that he's faced, things could have turned out differently - the set up is that deku has to understand shigaraki as a person in order to stop him. the lead up to this is. well he asks muscular "what's up with you" one time in the middle of battle. that didn't work out. and then he had his nagant confrontation, where he was more shocked about her killing the former commission president than he was about the commission ordering a lot of evil assassinations. and then never thought about what that meant for society at large. and he was just like "well i know the world has some greys in it now" and that fixed her i guess. overhaul was there and deku made no real effort there to get why he was so frantic about seeing his boss. and then he has that conversation with ochaco where they both go "isn't it crazy that we have empathy for villains".
so basically the most work that he actually put into "understanding villains" was with nagant, who is a completely new character who has the baggage of "hero commission assassin is ANYONE in series gonna talk about that", and the potential she possesses as a shigaraki foil and a stepping stone for deku towards his endgame gets muddled. she's also basically, while a significant confrontation, is one beat of many in the third act.
so the set up for "understanding villains" as a factor in deku's endgame, in seeing villains as human, is pretty weak. and deku was honestly really dependent on getting that build up and using other villains as a learning experience, bc his actual dynamic with shigaraki is sparse. compare it to uraraka and toga - the "understanding" thread fares a lot better there, because uraraka has had specific and charged interactions with toga that deeply affected her and made her think. deku's most constructive interaction with shigaraki was way back at the mall, before the training camp, but that's not enough to carry chemistry through their supposed arc as hero & villain.
but the story already knows that deku, one way or another, is meant to succeed, so it acts like he received the necessary development to be able to understand shigaraki as human in their confrontation.
there's a similar lack of meat for many other aspects of deku's characters - like his relationship with the vestiges, where yoichi could be 2nd and 3rd around on deku's behalf, and his mastering of the new ofa quirks, which we get TOLD has consequences or that he's struggling with, but it's never in a way that actually causes him substantial issues that he must overcome.
but actually, we can move all of that aside and ask one simple question about deku's character: what does he think about the floating death coffin the other heroes built for shigaraki?
deku gets confronted by the vestiges about having to possibly kill shigaraki, and his response to that is "yeah i guess but i gotta try saving him". which is very nice, but it just ends there. deku doesn't have to deal with how everyone else - people who are scared, or have been hurt by shigaraki and the villain's actions - might feel about this initiative. at no point does deku have to stand his ground against the other heroes after shigaraki's head, he doesn't have to convince anyone of his point of view, he doesn't have to look inward and understand why he wants to do this. it's just "well if i can!"
deku doesn't have to have any thoughts about the floating death coffin. he never has to be in scene with it before it started malfunctioning. he doesn't have to have any opinions about its construction, about the heroes deciding to take this path. he doesn't need to have feelings about it, he just has to save shigaraki.
and when that happens, the narrative will celebrate him, and the heroes will be like "wow deku really is the greatest hero, kids these days are so great". they don't need to have thoughts about deku wanting to do this in the first place, because it's going to happen and no one can stop it.
in a similar way that some ofmd fans can walk away happy with season 2 because they don't need anything more than their otp standing together three feet apart, a lot of fans would be happy with deku and shigaraki's likely endgame because what matters is that deku is the hero and that he saves shigaraki. but from where i'm standing, deku has so little substance and build up to this endgame (or at least the build up is THERE, but poorly done) that it's hard for me to be impressed.
also everything @codenamesazanka said here. everything she says i nod and go hell yeah.

OTP PROMPTS ೄྀ
If you're brainrotting, here are some situations & scenarios that can help with writer's block, or just are fun to imagine!
A = Typically the character struggling in angsty prompts, perhaps the stubborn person in the relationship. Usually the main focus in a 3rd person POV!
B = Typically a stoic character. May be better at hiding their feelings, or have a complex psyche especially. Usually the perspective in a 1st person POV!
[ Whatever characters you envision never have to fit these tropes, they're just a general outline as to what these prompts work best for! The roles reverse occasionally for ships with other dynamics or dynamics where both characters share the descriptors listed. You're more than welcome to use a prompt here without credit, but I'd love to see anything made based off these prompts! ]
❀•°•═════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═════•°•❀
A comes out as [identity/sexuality]. This idea can be elaborated upon in many ways! Perhaps it makes B realize they actually have a chance, or that they don't know A as well as A knows them. Did A not have a choice? Perhaps B could be comforting A after being distraught that they had been outed. Was it a drunk confession? One that only happened after a series of very 🌈 things, and/or is very overdue? The possibilities are endless! If you're more of a hurt/no comfort person, consider if B didn't like them that way or was discriminative. Or A was murdered or hate crimed for it, bullied, etc. Think about how A would handle it, and how would B react to A's reaction?
The gold ol' sickfic in which A falls ill. A great fluff, angst, hurt/comfort or even a hurt/no comfort. Fuck it, a smut fic in some cases! Consider what reasons your character probably got sick; Overworking, laziness (not being hygienic), staying out in the rain too long, just getting sick during that time of the year, having a weak immune system, mental problems that had/have physical symptoms, was unlucky and got a chronic illness, eating habits, family genetics, perhaps even faking being sick for B's attention! Consider how B would react to this information- or if they'd even know this information about the other, and if A would tell them. Would B pick up on the clues, or be oblivious to the other's sickness? How would B care for them? Would B be more soft, or be angry with them for getting sick? What stage of their relationship are they in? If you struggle to write a sick character, I suggest scrolling through the sickfic tag!
Note: While most sickfics show a dynamic where B is a caretaker and only listening and tending to A, there are lots of other possibilities! B could get into an argument with A because A refuses to rest, or argue because B doesn't know how to explain that they're in love with A and that's why it's important to them that A is happy and healthy without confessing. A could feel burdensome and force themself to get better (which could backfire), or B could be absolute dogshit at caretaking (babe I made you soup but I burnt the everything) (shit this ice pack is warm as fuck) (I'm sorry dude I fucked up your assignments while you were resting), etc.
Jealousy. While it's a overused trope, it is still a good one! Typically portrayed as B being protective over A, I find it is more fun to write when both are jealous for each other. Or when the jealous character hasn't come to terms with their feelings ("I'm not in love but when my "friend" flirts with someone else I feel really mad for no reason at all hahaha what"). Did A make B jealous on purpose, or by mistake? Maybe A is the emotional hotheaded one, or the jokester, whilst B is more reclusive and gentle, making their uncharacteristic anger (read; jealous) that much more evident. Or it could be A whose jealous, as B is simply chilling and talking to someone, and now it isn't a joke when A comments that "don't get too friendly I might get jealous!" They could also be rivals if you like ETL, making their jealousy even more confusing for them because why would I ever feel jealous about them..?! That's so weird whattt...
Jealousy is used a lot in every aspect of fanfiction. I find it best enjoyed as angst, but wholesome reassurance fluff is also a huge fan favorite of a lot of people I know- ("I only like you, so don't worry", etc.) Smut, of course, plays on jealousy as well. But make sure to keep in mind jealousy isn't the same as possessiveness! Protective characters can be more prone to jealousy, using B as an example, who wants to protect their loved ones, but then why does it hurt when someone is protecting A, and it isn't them? Humor is also used in jealousy, as watching a character slowly get hotheaded or act stupidly or comedically from their jealousy is also fun to read. Do consider when writing (if you want to!) if B comes off as overbearing or jealous, or both? Write them the way you want them to come off, as readers can feel uncomfortable if possessiveness or other toxic traits are passed off as jealousy. And it's also interesting to read about a character who thinks it's just jealousy! However, make sure to properly tag your works if on ao3, or add TWs on other platforms so they know what they're reading :)
❀•°•═════ஓ๑♡๑ஓ═════•°•❀
That's all I have right now! If this gets a lot of likes or if anyone wants more tropes / ideas like this I'd be happy to make a part 2. I've been brainrotting so much I've run through these scenarios like 30 times over, so I'm making this guide for myself as well so I can stop repeating the same fanfic in my head (>_<)

Warnings: power outage, swearing, truth or dare with spin the bottle
We all sat in a circle as Harry pulled a bottle out of his desk. Mac looked at him confused for a second before shaking his head. Christine sat down next to me after lighting the candles. The radio played softly in the background, flood warnings forcing us to stay where we are.
“alright gang. Who doesn’t know how to play spin the bottle?” Dan raised his hand. “Dan?! I’m surprised at that!”
“Oh no I’ve played.” Dan shook his head with a smirk. “I’m just wondering if it’s normal spin the bottle or truth or dare.” Harry paused in thought after putting the bottle in the middle of the circle.
“well gang. Let’s vote. Regular old spin the bottle, raise your hand.” Harry raised his hand and we all stared at him. “And truth or dare.” The rest of us raised our hands. Roz leaned over and grabbed a donut from the box on the chair next to her.
“No offense Harry but I’m not kissing any of you.” She said, winking at me. I laughed and shook my head, taking a donut when she passed me the box. Breaking it in half, I handed half to Dan. He accepted it with a smile and we leaned against each other while we waited for Harry to finish explaining the game.
“get on with it your honor.” Bull whined when Harry tried to make it more complicated than it was.
“alright. Alright. Let’s play.” Harry sat down and leaned forward to spin the bottle. It landed on Christine. “Truth or dare ms. Sullivan.” Christine rubbed her hands over her legs as she looked around the room.
“truth.” She said, voice shaking slightly. Harry smiled softly at her and Dan leaned into me further.
“what are you going to do if Diana and Charles doesn’t work out?” Everyone laughed as Christine paled.
“Ithey…Harry!” Christine stuttered. “That’s not fair.” I laughed.
“Alls fair in truth or dare Christine.” I pointed out. She pouted before spinning the bottle, making it land on Mac.
“truth or dare?” She asked him.
“truth.” Mac said, leaning back. “Working our way up to the dares.” He smiled at everyone in the circle.
“how’s school going?” Christine asked. We all stared at her blankly as she shrugged. “What? I dont…I’m not…it doesn’t have to be dirty.” We started laughing and I leaned over to rub Christine’s arm.
“school good Christine. Thanks for asking.” Mac said with a smile. Spinning the bottle, Dan smirked when it landed on him.
“don’t even have to ask Mac. Hit me with a dare.” Mac nodded with a smile.
“Christine, cover your ears.” Mac said with a laugh. Christine rolled her eyes with a scoff. “I dare you to kiss (Y/N).”
“You say that as if we haven’t already.” Dan laughed and looked over at me. Shrugging, he leaned down to kiss me. I hummed into it and smiled at him as we pulled away. Smiling back at me, Dan reached for my hand. Everyone stared at us in shock.
“what?” Harry and mac asked. Dan looked over at everyone, a smile on his face.
“what?” He shrugged. I leaned my head against his shoulder, happy it was finally out in the open. The shock was evident on everyone’s face. Dan turned to look at me, kissing me gently again. “You should see the look on their faces!” He laughed.
“I can see them Dan.” I shook my head. “We’ve been dating for a while. We just…” I waved my hand. “Never told anyone.” I shrugged. “No big deal.” Everyone continued to look at us in shock.
“But yeah, we’ve fucked before.” Dan added. Everyone groaned and snapped out of it.
“really Dan.” Christine whined. “It was a sort of sweet moment and you ruined it.” Harry leaned over and patted Dan on the shoulder.
“let’s hope (Y/N) makes an honest man of you Dan.” Harry said with a smile. I awkwardly cleared my throat and pulled a ring on a chain out of my shirt.
“uhm kind of already did.” I said as I pulled the ring off and slipped it on my finger.
“What?!” Everyone yelled. Dan laughed and pulled me closer, kissing me as everyone freaked out around us.

Gretchen Grundler for the character ask
Favorite thing about them: Her scientific and academic genius is always fun to watch, both because its sheer scope is funny (no real nine-year-old could ever be that much of a prodigy) and because it always comes in handy. T.J. would probably be lost without her, since her analytical skills ensure that his lavish plans work in the real world. Yet she's never snobby about her intelligence, but is one of the warmest, kindest characters in the series.
Least favorite thing about them: Probably her role in "Pharaoh Bob," when she gets too absorbed in her role as master builder of Bob's pyramid and takes part in oppressing the other kids. But she's far from the only kid in this show to be temporarily corrupted by power, and she snaps out of it just in time at the episode's climax.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I got good grades in school.
*I'm not athletic – and unlike her, I'm not even good with yo-yos.
*I'm normally mild mannered, but when I'm provoked enough (as she was in "The Girl Was Trouble," for example), I can go berserk.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I'm not nearly as smart as she is.
*I've never had more than a moderate interest in science.
*I'm not tall or skinny.
Favorite line:
Her advice to the Library Kid:
"Perhaps you can learn to enjoy recess without going nuts, and likewise learn how to utilize the library without moving in. You know, like the ancient Greeks said: "all things in moderation"... Look, I love books too. But there's more to life than just reading, just like there's more to life than just recess. The secret is not too much or too little of either."
brOTP: T.J., Spinelli, Vince, Mikey, and Gus.
OTP: None until she's older; when the time is right, maybe Vince, maybe one of the Pale Kids, or maybe someone she hasn't met yet.
nOTP: Jeffrey from "The Pest."
Random headcanon: When she grows up she will become a famous scientist who helps the world in many ways, but she'll never succeed in cloning herself.
Unpopular opinion: I don't see all the alleged "Ship Tease" between her and Vince that both the Recess and Disney Wikis and TV Tropes claim is in the show. They're good friends and I'm all in favor of shipping them, but I don't see any particular evidence that they have crushes on each other. Could someone please provide a list of all the supposed hints, like the list on Recess Wiki of the show's many T.J./Spinelli moments? What am I overlooking?
Song I associate with them:
The theme song, for want to anything unique to her.

as a mulitshipper, I am so so sorry on behalf of the eruri fandom, eruri is my main OTP however I am okay with it not being canon, there is nothing canon in the story to support it and I like creating my own scenarios for it without putting it in canon
I truly apologize for that anon and I hope they grow to be better ❤️❤️
Truly, there's no need for you to apologize. That person isn't representative of the eruri fandom in general. They're obviously an extreme case. Like I said, I love eruri, and have read many eruri stories which I adore. I'm even writing one myself, currently. I'm not against the ship at all. I just know, as you do too, that it's not canon, and it doesn't need to be canon to be a legitimate way to engage with the material. You can still enjoy the ship without having to look for actual evidence of its canonical existence. It's just simply not there. But thank you so much for your kindness.

Tag 9 people you want to get to know better. (You can also just read my answers.  Or don’t.  Up to you!  Zero pressure).  Thank you @once-in-a-blue-moon-rising for the tag!  I’ll do my best to be at least marginally entertaining, but no promises.
Three ships: Ooh, this is a fun one.  I’ll do my OTP, my favourite ship I don’t actually write for, and one wild card.
OTP: Mystrade, of course!  Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade from BBC Sherlock.  I’ve posted about 250k words of Mystrade fic on AO3 and I’ve got somewhere around 50k more of works in progress sitting in my drive.
Favourite I don’t write for: Thomas Barrow/Guy Dexter from Downton Abbey.  Despite writing 255k for Sherlock and 0k for Downton, DA is my very favourite series in the entire universe.  I didn’t love the second film (Singin’ in the Rain did it better), but I adored Guy and think he and Thomas would be so sweet together.
Wild Card: Claudine Pascal/Lizzie Wingfield from Hotel Portofino.  No, I have no evidence for this.  No, I will not elaborate.  I just think it would rule.  One of these days, I’ll get around to writing the second fic on AO3 for Portofino (the first one is also me, haha) and it’ll be these two.
First ever ship: I had to dig deep to think of this one.  I think it was Chad Danforth/Ryan Evans from High School Musical, hahaha.
Last song: “Steal Smoked Fish” by the Mountain Goats was the last song I listened to.  A quartet arrangement of “Sentimental Journey,” as made popular by Doris Day and Les Brown, was the last song I sang.
Last movie: I’m on a 1950s kick at the moment.  I just watched Shane for the third or so time and I watched Rebel Without a Cause last week.
Currently reading: I’m actually between books right now, but I just finished Tom Wolfe’s The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, which is a fantastic piece of journalism from the 1960s.
Currently watching: I haven’t technically started it yet, but I’m about to boot up the first episode of The Muppets Mayhem.  Dr Teeth has always been my favorite Muppet (and I love the Muppets), so I’m very excited.
Currently consuming: A piece of gum.
Currently craving: Another half-piece of gum.  But only half a piece.  You know how sometimes one isn’t quite big enough, but two is far too much to chew without hurting your jaw?  Yeah.  That’s what I’m feeling just now.
Tagging (with no pressure at all!): @feralremains, @neverlet, @ivysplivy, @mon221b, @stellacartography, @boldlygowhereitsbiggerinside, @icatee, @bakerstreetbasilisk, @just-a-fixed-point-in-time

For the OTP asks: 5, 13, 22, and 26 for Cyrus and Wyll
yaaaaaaaaaaay
5. What activities do they enjoy together?
Cyrus socializes like a cat, so he's happiest just being nearby for whatever activity Wyll wants to do-- snuggling while Wyll reads or listening him play his flute (or his cello once they're moved in to their estate post-game). Wyll similarly insists that his greatest creative inspiration comes when he's with Cyrus and loves to compose in Cyrus' garden, drafting sonnets and serenades while Cyrus is tending to his plants.
As for things they really do together, they love planning outings into the woods around Baldur's Gate. Romantic picnics, hunting, foraging, birding, just getting away from the bustle of the city
13. Name something they would never do for the other person.
Cyrus for Wyll: I think Cyrus outright refuses to do the Champion/Ansur/whoops bitter gay exes quest. Not even in a reluctant 'I'll tag along to make sure you stay safe' thing, drags his heels to the very edge of the chambers of trials and is straight up like 'we shouldn't do this. I don't care how helpful the dragon will be we should Not Fucking Do This please don't do this i don't want to lose you to some impossible bullshit test you're already enough please don't make me watch you do this'
Of course there's no vindication in being right.
Wyll for Cyrus: Hmmmm Wyll is so accommodating it's hard to think of what he'd refuse… Of course there is the classic "you don't have to be the Blade of Frontiers" for me early on. No matter how many times Cyrus tells him that he doesn't have to perform for him, it's so hard to let go of a technique that has allowed you to cope with & make the best of such horrendous circumstances
22. If their lives were what was originally intended at birth, would they have still fallen in love?
Oh boy the 'at birth' specification is interesting, I've never really thought about what this version of Malcolm and Leandra had planned for him… He grew up on the road because Malcom was being hunted by his archfey patron who ends up killing him when Cyrus is very young (tho I have some. Extremely vague ideas about a post-game adventure involving Malcolm actually still being alive & Cyrus & his LI needing to save him). Presuming Malcolm doesn't die and is thus still around when Leandra passes from her illness, I could see him raising Cyrus as a much more well-adjusted rangers, mayhaps even of the fey wanderer variety as they work to free Malcolm from his patron
(…..i dont know how i've gotten this far without realizing before that the first loss in cyrus' life was to a vengeful warlock patron but it sure. Uh. Adds some Something to this dynamic…)
Wyll more obviously grows into a young lordling, but even without Mizora, I think he goes through life about 5 terribly repressed seconds from a nervous breakdown having grown up knowing absolutely nothing but his father's rigid expectations
And while I can't think of any self-evident way for their paths to cross, the notion of Wyll meeting a more fey version of Cyrus who whisks him away from the pressures of noble life for a whirlwind adventure straight out of the fantasies and fairytales Wyll grew up reading and dreaming about but had given up experiencing himself… well i think it FUCKS immensely
26. What are their favorite parts about physical affection/sex?
For both of them, the best part about physical affection is feeling safe. It's so new for them, but being able to melt into each other's arms and let all of their past disappear into the sound of the other's breathing and pulse is just one of their favorite things about being together, period.
For Cyrus, his relationship to sex is different than other iterations of the character because of his history with Meredith. Generally, Cyrus has two somewhat contradictory things he wants out of sex: to please his partner as much as possible, and to know himself and his body in relation to them. Contradictory because that first desire always trumps the second one and can even foreclose it entirely, depending on the partner, or make him vulnerable to someone who wants to control his sense of self.
Whereas ranger!Cyrus is pretty adamant about not relying on anyone else for that external validation/appraisal/identification. That just leaves "trying to give Wyll a religious experience every time," and that is something Cyrus adores immensely. (And his favorite part of /that/ is any indication of incoherency-- babbling and whining and stammering. Any sign that Wyll is trying sooo hard to be the calm & collected Blade and failing miserably turns Cyrus on a Lot; he refers to it playfully as 'making Wyll sing')
And as hard as it is, Wyll enjoys being made to let go and get out of his head and into his body and being taken care of and treated with a level of slow, gentle tenderness that is almost too much to bear (but he does and Cyrus praises him throughout to tell him he's doing a very good job bearing it)

This is my 1st sherlolly fic. This was a very spur of the moment thing & I'm not really a writer, I just love sherlolly & it's one of my otps. Timeline is the aftermath of the ily scene.
It's very important. I can't tell you why, but I promise you that it is.
His words echoed in her mind.
He was a man of his word, he had never broken a promise, except for if he was fooling a criminal into some kind of a trap. And the last time she checked, she wasn't in any sort of his criminals' list.
Her mind flashed back to a memory.
"Come over here, son. I'll give you a candy if you do." Sherlock was trying to persuade a little kid, barely 6 six years old, who had gone into a dangerous area of the construction site, to return.
When the boy came out from the space, Sherlock took out a candy from his coat pocket and handed the reward to the litte boy.
"You actually gave him a candy?" Molly had asked, bewildered that it wasn't just a tactic to get him out.
"Yes, it is important to not lie to kids or make false promises to them."
He was kind and gentle, straightforward and true to his words, he didn't beat around the bush, nor kept false promises. So it had to be serious and important, she wondered what it was with her hands wrapped around her tea mug, and arms wrapped around her knees. Blissfully unaware, but slightly bothered, she continued to sip her tea. Sherlock's abrupt call had somewhat placated her and she felt oddly calm. She made a mental note to ask him the details later and got up to walk towards the sink.
..............
"Sherlock", her breathe hitched. He was standing there, a few feet away from the kitchen. He had a spare key to her apartment afterall so it wasn't a mystery as to how he had gotten in.
Without a word he came towards her, his pace a little faster than usual, and enveloped her into a hug. She returned it by wrapping her hands around him in a reflex action. She loves when Sherlock initiates such moments of physical contact but she also gets concerned because he's quite vulnerable & emotionally distraught at such times. Still hugging, she asked him in the sweetest, softest tone, "What was the call about, Sherlock?" as if you would inquire a naughty kid about a broken vase.
Sherlock gulped, "She,...my sister had threatened.....that she would kill.....that she would kill you.....that your apartment was rigged with bombs......there was a coffin (of your size, Molly but he couldn't bring himself to say that detail)." Sherlock tried his best with the broken words he could manage to find. At this moment a dewdrop like substance falling on Molly's face near left ear, made her aware that a tear had rolled down Sherlock's cheek onto hers. She couldn't bring herself to look into his eyes, his voice and state was already painful for her.
They had both always been so calculated, so practical about death. It was a daily occurence and routine for them, to talk about corpses and murder so coldly, devoid of feelings, devoid of any sorts of attachments. This felt new but it was still an emotion shared by both of them, of terror, of utter fear of loss.......and the terror and joy & relief of being discovered, being found. The feeling of joy was gaining the upper hand right now, as the hug continued. Relief was rushing inside Sherlock's body, Molly Hooper was here, she was alive, present in the flesh, he was hugging her, everything was alright in this little apartment on this wretched planet, nothing else mattered.
The 'ting' sound of the oven broke the trance that Sherlock had entered in. He knew Molly stress baked at times when she was worried. "Umm, Sherlock, let me get the muffins before they get burnt." Molly released herself from the hug, but evidently only very reluctantly.
"Ah, yes." Sherlock withdrew his hands, not knowing where to put them and his hands finally found their way into his coat pocket, ah yes now we can't have this apartment burning down coz the oven exploded while he was too busy hugging Molly.
Molly Hooper was worried. That's the only thing he can think of while inhaling the smell of freshly baked muffins.
"Try some, Sherlock." Molly addressed him pointing towards the muffins placed on the rack.
"Molly, sorry for worrying you." Sherlock confessed. Molly frowned, she had forgotten all about why she had baked the muffins in the first place. Sherlock's presence was more therapeutic than any baked treat afterall.
But then she smiled, realizing Sherlock had only apologised for worrying her and not for his request on the phonecall and 3 words he had said to her, twice now. It meant that wasn't a lie, right? That he really was in love with her and wasn't just playing his sister's sick game.
"Are the muffins, good? Do they taste sweet enough? I didn't exactly measure the sugar syrup."
"Yes, they're sweet, but not as sweet as your lips I bet." Sherlock didn't know where he had found the courage or rather where his tongue had gotten the audacity to utter this cheesy line but he was glad for the 1st time and felt lighter, as if he had laid down a large burden he had been carrying all this time, unknown even to him.
Molly nearly choked on her muffin and Sherlock took on a posture, prepared to rescue her in case she needed it. After going through all the trouble to ensure her safety and make sure Molly Hooper was alive, he couldn't have her dying due to his confession now. Especially the one made under no external pressure.
Molly immediately gulped down the glass of juice sitting next to the baking rack and thankfully that seemed to do the job that Sherlock thought he had done back in that Eurus' game or which he thought he had to do now.
"Molly...... are you okay?" thankful that he didn't continue it with a 'just kidding' she told him she was okay so he would stop being worried.
"You're sure you don't need a mouth to mouth?" He asked, unsure where his tongue was getting these lines from, or if a new department had been established in his brain, titled 'cheesy pickup lines for Molly Hooper that would immediately deliver how down bad you are for her'
"Who are you and what have you done to Sherlock Holmes?" Molly smiled weakly, still unsure if this was some sort of advanced cloning feat that humans have finally achieved. "And uh you don't need to guise your....fantasies, you can bring them up directly." She smirked slyly and wasted no time to come and cup his face.
"Still up for that kiss, are you Sherlock?" She asked to make sure. She was just as straightforward of a person as he was.
"Yes."

Umm, there’s nothing wrong with Orihime trying to be attractive to Ichigo. I understand it’s a dumb anti-IH “argument” IRs use but they’re only jealous Ichigo got flustered (because he’s sexually attracted to Orihime & finds the outfit distracting). That’s what separates our OTP from IR, it’s actually romantic, not platonic. That doesn’t make Orihime a “whore”. Don’t let IRs tar that moment & Orihime is 2nd smartest after Uryu, still don’t think she’s that naive. Agree to disagree & IH 4ever! XD
But she wasn't trying to be attractive to Ichigo. That's the point I made in my last reply. If you have any evidence that suggests that she was trying to attract him with her body, even though she was mortified by the very idea and immediately tried to cover herself when she realized that that was Urahara's intention, I'd be happy to hear it.
I think you've misunderstood what I'm saying, so I'll reiterate: it's not that I think there's anything wrong with wanting to appear attractive to a romantic interest. I'm saying, based on everything that chapter 589 tells us, attracting Ichigo to her body was not what Orihime wanted. That wasn't her intention when she put on the clothes. And so, I do find issue with the suggestion that that was her intention, given that Orihime was completely mortified at the mere idea of it. Given that all of the surrounding context and words stated in bold print refutes it. Because to suggest otherwise would be a misinterpretation of the scene, in my opinion. And if you think it's not a misinterpretation, and that 589 should be interpreted as Orihime wearing the outfit in attempts to attract Ichigo with her body, it would help to provide an actual example from the chapter itself. Saying, "well, Orihime was one of the smartest in her class so she should know better" just doesn't cut it (I'll explain why at the end of this reply).
IR shippers certainly were jealous/bitter about the fact that Ichigo had such an extreme reaction to Orihime's outfit. But the feelings of IR shippers, and more importantly, Ichigo's attraction to Orihime's body, doesn't in any way detract from the fact that it wasn't Orihime's intention to attract him. He can be attracted to her, without her ever trying and/or wanting to attract him. Do you see what I'm saying?
And it should definitely be noted that I never said that Orihime wanting to attract Ichigo would make her a "whore." In fact, I made sure to make it clear that I wasn't shaming Rangiku when I used examples of her using her looks/sexuality to her own benefit. Again, I was simply pointing out that that doesn't align with Orihime's characterization, based on an entire manga's worth of context, given that she's never shown an awareness of her attractiveness, and certainly not enough to use it to her own benefit, nor to go out of her way to purposely try to attract Ichigo's attention.
What I am saying, however, is this: IR shippers use 589 as an example of Orihime being a shameless whore, but when they do so, they're basing it off of their argument that she purposely and intentionally wore the outfit to seduce Ichigo/attract his attention...All the while blatantly ignoring the context and direct evidence that proves that that wasn't her intention at all. How do we know this? Because, again, Orihime was clearly mortified at the very idea of it, followed by Yoruichi jumping in as the voice of reason yelling about how she was "obviously deceived by some maniac."
Do you see what I mean? That's what bothers me: when they ignore context and direct evidence to make an argument. When they cherry-pick certain details and ignore the rest to make their point stick.
Also, and most importantly: it should be said that while a teenager can be very booksmart and achieve high grades in school...That doesn't somehow make them invulnerable from being deceived by an old pervert who is taking advantage of their very trusting nature. And to me, to imply such a thing is to suggest that if the teenager didn't do so well in school, they somehow "weren't smart enough" to not be deceived. As if "Orihime should have known better." I'm not saying that that's what you're suggesting, I'm just saying that that sort of language makes me very uncomfortable. Because the blame should never be placed on the vulnerable, trusting teenager who was deceived (regardless of how well they did in school!) rather than the grown man who did the deceiving in the first place.

Natalia!
Why I like them:
I love Natalia's humility, her willingness to admit when she's wrong and apologize. I love that she's brave, even imprudently so, running off ahead even when her friends are calling her back. I love that she's kind of a ditz and gets excited over ghost stories and dressing up like an elite thief. I love her dedication to her family, and that while she's a competent fighter, she's also emotional and vulnerable. I love that she's a princess in a fancy dress, but for her the priority of being a princess is to serve others, and you see evidence of it.
Why I don't:
Like many fans, I can get impatient with the way she just pleads with Asch to acknowledge her early on, and of course in her first scene she's insufferable. But more personally, it took me literal years to like her character design. She's very frilly, and I didn't like her big puffy sleeves, and her curly blond hair, and overall Tear was more my style. Once I figured out that her design is supposed to give off a princess meets musketeer adventurer vibe, I learned to appreciate it more. But I still like her princess and Peony outfits better.
Favorite scene:
There are lots of little moments, like her scolding Luke for claiming the people of Akzeriuth are “dirty”, or her insisting to Luke that he's as much part of her family as Asch is. So many of her scenes with Asch, of course, and I love her running across the battlefield. And then there's her lighter moments, like her telling Peony “Please give us the sword” or the little bit where she believes Peony wants to marry her. Oh, and her confronting Largo, those are some really good moments.
Her flight from Baticul is definitely a great section, but I'm going to say everything from when she and Asch renew their promise in Sheridan to her returning to Baticul to urge the king towards peace. She's vulnerable, but she shows her personal strength and dignity, even in the face of possible execution. People sometimes criticize Natalia for her arc being “all about Asch”, but it really isn't – it's about family, and this section highlights that so well.
Favorite line:
It's an optional scene, and you only get it when you have Natalia lead the final fight against Van: “Even if the Score has made my fate go wrong, I will change that fate myself!” Honestly, that whole scene is so good.
Favorite outfit:
Like I said, not her default. Her princess gown, especially the long version from the anime, is probably my favorite. But I'm also a fan of her two wedding dress designs they've released in escort titles.
OTP:
Oh this is no secret, Asch and Natalia. Along with liking both characters on their own, I find the angst of their relationship very interesting. There's this sense that things could be okay for them, but because of circumstances (and their own choices), they're in love but they fail to actually meet as a couple. So it's a relationship that's canon, but never realized – there's no I love you, there's no reconciliation after all their past arguments, there's not even a chance to say goodbye. So on one side, you have both the tragedy of their love never being fulfilled and the two of them ending the game while still in conflict. But at the same time, there's also these moments of sweetness and support, glimpses of what they could have without all the baggage. There's room for differing opinions of course, but I think Asch and Natalia could be a really strong relationship – if they'd just allowed it to happen.
BROTP:
I love both her relationships with Luke and Guy, so maybe what I should answer here is a BROT3. Guy is so warm and understanding with her, giving her the emotional support she often doesn't get elsewhere Asch. But Luke gives her that close familial relationship we see her craving with Ingobert and Largo and Asch. The Luke relationship is especially strong because you realize that Luke sees himself in her – when she suffers from being rejected by her father, he knows exactly what she's feeling, and when she's hurt because of Largo, you can see he's hurting right alongside her.
(Going outside the game, I also love the friendship that develops between her and Estelle in Tales of the Rays. I could see her and Estelle becoming super close, bonding over being princesses and loving books and having to deal with the diehard tsunderes in their lives.)
Head Canon:
When she becomes queen, she begins to gradually dismantle the monarchy and turn Kimlasca into a republic. Whether or not this succeeds in her own lifetime varies with what fic I'm writing, but I feel like it's a logical conclusion to her promise with Asch, wanting to empower everyone in Kimlasca, not just the nobility.
Unpopular Opinion:
Earlier in the fandom, it felt kind of unpopular to like Natalia in the first place, but I think that's mostly died off by now. I don't know if this is particularly unpopular, but I'm not a huge fan of Stephanie Sheh's voice work for her. Some scenes work well, but Natalia's is one of the voices I wouldn't mind seeing recast if we ever did get a remake.
A wish:
I mean, if asking for both Luke and Asch to come back is too much, then I wish she'd at least gotten her chance to see Asch one last time. I don't know that she would have taken the opportunity to declare her love, but they could still have had their chance at reconciliation.
Please-don't-ever:
In game, pretty much the worst thing does happen – Asch dies. Actually, while a lot of people like the Lusch interpretation of the ending, Luke and Asch being fused into one being with both of their consciousnesses intact, I think that could potentially be more devastating than either Luke's or Asch's outright deaths would be. It's an intriguing concept to speculate about, but I'd never want to see it canonized.
5 words:
courageous, devoted, idealistic, naive, emotional
My nickname for them:
I don't think I have one...? Nat, maybe?

Blob for the ask game
1: sexuality headcanon - I used to think of Blob as the only straight guy in Mystique's Brotherhood, but Blob/Unus shippers have won me over. That dude is bi, for sure!
2: otp - Blob/Unus. I can't believe they are both alive on Krakoa and we haven't even seen them talking in the background! C'mon!
I've also seen Blob/Phantazia shipping, and while I really prefer Blob/Unus, I would be okay with that relationship, too.
3: brotp - I'm not sure who Blob's best buddies are, outside of Unus, who is more of an OTP for me. I'd like to imagine that he hangs out a lot with Toad, Pyro and Avalanche, just for the shared experience of being in the Brotherhood together. Pyro and Avalanche are obviously closer to each other, but Pyro was frequently paired off with Blob, and the two of them spent as much time being mean girls guys together as they did fighting with each other. Plus, it's canon that Blob relaxes the rules/sneaks drinks for Avalanche, even though he's officially been banned from the Green Lagoon for unknown reasons. Also, I'd like to think that Blob and Anole are buddies since they run the Green Lagoon together.
4: notp - I actually didn't like Blob/Psylocke. I don't mind the pairing in theory, but I didn't like how Williams handled it, and all the weird issues with Betsy in someone else's body. I didn't really like Blob getting a complete personality overhaul in that story, although in fairness it was an AU. Being a loud, angry jerk has always been part of Blob's personality, and you can make him more sympathetic and nuanced without writing him to be a completely different person. Bartender Blob on Krakoa seems to be a kinder, more thoughtful Blob who still feels like himself.
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - as Krakoa's main bartender, Blob hears ALL the secrets, and knows ALL the gossip. Pyro is always eager to tell him some new rumor, and Blob always knows already. He keeps the most important personal secrets people tell him under his belt, but he will absolutely spread the juicier gossip.
6: favorite line from this character -
Funny line - when Blob starts a fight with Avalanche because Avalanche made him drop his sandwich. It doesn't even feel like a "fat" joke, more of a "The Brotherhood guys are always ready to throw down at any excuse" joke. Also, I'd be mad about a dropped sandwich, too.
Serious line - any scene when he is desperately trying to save the dying Unus. They really gave these two guys a tragic romance friendship, then forgot for decades that Blob could be a sympathetic character.
7: one way in which I relate to this character
I can certainly sympathize with how his appearance has led to him being treated badly, much like Toad. He's not a mutant that can really "pass," and even people who don't realize he is a mutant will still judge him for being fat. I think his abrasive personality is partially due to him having to deal with that constantly.
I can also relate to wanting to be a Krakoan bartender. Stay out of the drama, just serve drinks and be chill.
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Also like Toad, writers really like to make him as gross as possible sometimes (because fat = ugly, and ugly = evil, right?). Like that horrible Ultimate version of Blob who was a cannibal. But especially that one Daredevil issue where both Blob and Pyro are being extremely gross about a young mutant girl (who looks to be about 12), who they are there to capture. Blob keeps commenting on her looks and insisting that he wants to "have her," because Pyro usually "gets all the girls" (no evidence of that in ANY of the actual X-Men comics), and then tries to force a female bartender to kiss him. I consider that one of my "Nope, that didn't happen" comics stories. It's a shame, because the rest of the issue was funny, and would have worked outside of all the grossness towards women.
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Bartender Blob is a cinnamon roll with a 70's mustache and a colorful shirt.

Character ask: Jacob Marley (A Christmas Carol)
Tagged by anonymous
Favorite thing about them: Just how unforgettable he is as a character, despite how brief his role is. He's probably second only to Shakespeare's King Hamlet as the most famous ghost of a dead man in English literature, and rightfully so. He's frightening, yet pitiable too, and every line he speaks is pure poetry. He has some touches of humor about him (mainly from Dickens's wry narrator voice), but without reducing the seriousness of his suffering or his message. And despite having died an unrepentant sinner, he now repents enough, and cares enough about his old friend Scrooge, that he not only visits Scrooge himself, but arranges for other, more powerful ghosts to visit him too in hope of redeeming him, and he succeeds.
Least favorite thing about them: Well obviously, he wasn't a good man when he was alive. That's the point: he's an example of what Scrooge's fate will be if he doesn't change.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I can be greedy and self-absorbed, though I try not to be.
*I want to help others, as he does now that he knows the error of his old ways.
*I can be melodramatic.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I've never been a cold, ruthless businessperson.
*I'm female.
*I'm still alive.
Favorite line:
“It is required of every man that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellowmen, and travel far and wide; and if that spirit goes not forth in life, it is condemned to do so after death. It is doomed to wander through the world—oh, woe is me!—and witness what it cannot share, but might have shared on earth, and turned to happiness!”
“Oh! captive, bound, and double-ironed, not to know, that ages of incessant labour by immortal creatures, for this earth must pass into eternity before the good of which it is susceptible is all developed. Not to know that any Christian spirit working kindly in its little sphere, whatever it may be, will find its mortal life too short for its vast means of usefulness. Not to know that no space of regret can make amends for one life’s opportunity misused! Yet such was I! Oh! such was I!”
“Business! Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all, my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!”
“At this time of the rolling year, I suffer most. Why did I walk through crowds of fellow-beings with my eyes turned down, and never raise them to that blessed Star which led the Wise Men to a poor abode! Were there no poor homes to which its light would have conducted me!”
brOTP: Scrooge, his only friend.
OTP: None.
nOTP: Any living person.
Random headcanon: In the end, thanks to his act of arranging for the three Christmas ghosts to visit Scrooge and lead him to redemption, he's freed from his chain and ascends to heaven. I know I'm not alone in wanting to believe this, so I will. I just don't like the idea of eternal punishment for a soul who has clearly learned his lesson and repents; especially not after he saves Scrooge's soul, which means he deserves part of the credit for saving Tiny Tim's life and all the other good deeds Scrooge will do.
Unpopular opinion: He doesn't reside in hell. Dickens makes it clear that his punishment (and apparently the punishment for all cruel, uncharitable people) is to travel endlessly through the world, witnessing the suffering of others whom he failed to help in life. In Dickens's world, there evidently is no hell, in the conventional sense: hell is on earth, in the suffering of those in need. This unconventional theology suits the book's message of social commentary perfectly, and I get tired of seeing adaptations imply that he comes back from a traditional fire-and-brimstone hell, which is so much less interesting and less relevant to the message.
Song I associate with them:

"Marley and Marley" from The Muppet Christmas Carol.
