#ON MY SHIKI THINKING SHE'S NOT ENOUGH POST

While watching the original Japanese scene of Joshua/Neku at Udugawa, I noticed something interesting that changed the entire tone of the conversation.
Tumblr media
Since I can't speak Japanese (I was using a translating app), I went to my friend who actually speaks the language--and not only did she confirm my suspicions, but was also nice enough to translate the entire conversation for me (thank you @hunterxhell!) I also want to just make a quick disclaimer that I don’t entirely blame the localizers for this mistranslation, and I’ll go into why at the end. For now, I’ll post the original Japanese screenshots with their translations in the captions. I won’t be posting the English screenshots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joshua: Thank you for your hard work. Neku: The one who forced me into Shinjuku… was it you? Joshua: Don’t say it like that. Joshua: I /evacuated/ you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joshua: On that day three years ago, I was worried about letting that Reaper who shot you do as she liked. Neku: Even if you’re telling the truth, that wasn’t your only motive, right? Joshua: Hehe. Did you enjoy solving the mystery?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joshua: I also wanted you to bring back information for me. Neku: It was hard. Joshua: Sorry about that, but I knew I could entrust this to no one but you. Neku: Is that so…
Basically, what was translated in the English localization as “I sent you to Shinjuku because I didn’t trust you not to keep my secrets” is actually, “Because I trust you more than anyone else, I sent you to Shinjuku to do this task for me.”
I don’t blame the localizers for this mistranslation—Japanese is hard, and so much of translating the language comes from surrounding context due to sentences often lacking subjects. When looking at this conversation as an isolated scene, it makes sense that Joshua ambiguously talking about Neku handling information for Joshua’s sake could be interpreted as Neku keeping said information to himself.
Since there’s no other mention in game of Neku’s purpose in Shinjuku being to gather information, there’s no reason for the localizers to assume anything different. It’s not without knowing the larger context, that this is an old piece of lore/information that was much more important when the sequel for TWEWY was going to be a completely different game, that the conversation Joshua and Neku have here starts to make more sense.
The rest of the conversation plays out the same: Joshua says that he was worried Kubo might have been too much to handle, and that he had planned to step in if needed. Neku then expresses his wish to go back to the RG, and Joshua makes a comment about him instead staying as a Composer candidate. Neku dismisses him, and Joshua laughs it off before saying that he’ll take responsibility and make things right. The most notable change is Joshua saying in English, “Let’s not keep her waiting any longer” when in the original he says, “Is there someone you want to meet with?” But since the implied “someone” is Shiki, I don’t think it’s a wrong translation and still gets the same point across.
And that’s it! While I understand the mistranslation, it’s too bad this little exchange wasn’t properly localized. Irregardless, it’s heartwarming to know that even now, the trust between these two is limitless.

what do you like most about Juvia? and what's your favorite ship of Juvia (with someone?)
OHHH JUVIA... JUVIA.... I complain a lot about her, especially the way she's written post series 1 😭 I'm not a big fan of her obsession with Gray (& how that's her entire personality now 😨) BUT YEAH shes still one of my favorites;;;;;
It's mainly her idea / concept / potential that i fell in love with, which sadly never got explored much in the series, BUT here's a list of stuff I loved about her canonically in no particular order (+ the ships);
Her backstory and her arc during Phantom Lord. I lovee how her and Gray's fight was resolved, I'm so happy she finally got to see a clear and bright sky after YEARS of thinking she'll never see it because of how awfully she's been treated by people around her for something she couldn't control, I think it was beautiful!!! And she definitely deserved it!!!! I could relate to it a lot too 😭
She LOVES her friends as much as everyone else in FT does, it just doesn't seem like it because of her. Thing. With calling people her "love rival," at least before series 2. ->
The series' first ever unison raid being hers and Lucys??? ICONIC. I'M GOING TO BITE A TABLE. Her self sacrifice to get Cana out of Freed's jutsu shiki??? DEVASTATINGLY SWEET. Getting Gajeel to join her in Fairy Tail because she was worried he wouldn't find / be accepted in any other guild??? ALSO REALLY SWEET, GOD. Her team ups with Lisanna during Tenrou and Alvarez??? VERY CUTE 10/10 WE NEED MORE.
If it isn't obvious enough, she actually does have a really cute and funny character (As long as shes not doing anything relating to Gray for once)!!!! And I love that contrast between her new brighter and more cheery personality and her older, quiter and depressed one. Its really sweet. I love her character arc a lot ok. I love how she actually doesnt like swimming despite her element being water and how shes awful at baking!!!! Go girl!!! Give us nothing!!! I lovee how shes not above doing anything dumb with her friends (Like with Gajeel, especially) shes fun I miss her ☝️
Her design(s) ??? Have you seen her??? She's serving 24/7. A unique silhouette every time too. Phantom Lord fit? A slay, a definitive classic, love the europe-ness of it, really fits her constant rain thing she had going on. The teru teru bozu on her was adorable and sad at the same time. So good she came back to wearing it after Edolas Arc (this was apparently a warning). Her outfit once she joins Fairy Tail??? ADORABLE! THE DRESS WAS UNIQUE!! THE SHORT HAIR WAS A SLAY. I'd say it counts as a 'meaningful hair cut' even when we never got to see her cut it or why she did but narratively it did show that she was starting a new life 🫶 I dont think i need to say much about her fits after Tenrou, they look really good and comfy 😌 And I love her long hair too, not as much as her short hair but its cute how it kinda looks like water, intentional or not. Shes one of the few women in FT who hasn't come down with a nasty case of 'Mashima's Same Face Syndrome Post GMG' but she was still affected by it. Also i love her long boots and furs..
Phantom Lord Juvia was reallyy cool too, before she got a redemption and all. Look at her!!! How powerful and mysterious she seemed!!!! The dark blues / black outfit... the rain following her wherever she goes, how she was one of the strongest people in Phantom, again, the teru teru bozu, her constantly stone cold face, dark eyes, how ominous she was- she was Leaking 'Power' at that point and I kinda miss her intimidating presence :( I love how scary she was and could be sometimes
Her arc with Meredy,,, I dont know how to articulate my thoughts on their fight nor am i confident enough that the stuff im thinking of actually happened / was there (Like her recognizing that Meredys situation was awful, did Juvia even ever learned about her past??) (Been a while since I rewatched/read it, my bad) but the hug did stood out to me. Usually the fights would end with someone or both or more on the floor / ground, regardless of the characters, but this time Juvia just hugs her, and Meredy cries and its just ??? 🥹🥹🥹 AND THEY HUG EVERYTIME THEY SEE EACHOTHER AFTER A LONG TIME TOO AFTER THAT,,, ITS REALLY CUTE... also i think its cool that Mashima changed it so it ended like that because of a flood that happened.
Her magic seems really flexible and awesome, no wonder she was part of the elemental four and an S-class candidate- Girl!! She's weaponizing pressurized water!!! You can't just get hit by them and expect yourself to be okay just because its water!!! She could just drown people soo easily using waterlock or send them back MILES using. That attack I forgot the name of. She could just "disappear" by turning into puddle and reappear and surprise people the same way!!!! You cant attack her using physical objects, it would just phase through her!!!! She can flood entire arenas!!!!! The fact that should apparently control the temperature / heat of the water too!?? Girl!!! Use it more!!!! Hate how it was shown once during phantom but never mentioned again, that would've been so useful. Mashima knew she would've been unstoppable if she was used to her fullest potential so she was nerfed like every other characters whos ever gotten a redemption.
Okay apparently i like her more than I thought. Let's not mention the stalking bit. I think its creepy. But yeah!!! Love her character!!
As for ships, I'm not that picky with ships involving her (Reason being im never sure if i ship them for romantic reasons or if its because i think they wouldve been funny), just make sure it isn't Gray, also I tend to ship her with women more & headcanon that shes a lesbian!
My favorites are obviously luvia (Lucy) and lisvia (Lisanna) or lulivia (POLYCULE‼️‼️) I just think they're neat and like really sweet aauagh. Something about these two girls accepting her almost immediately, how they like talking about love a lot, Lucy & Lisanna teaching her how to bake, the beach trips, the sleepovers would've been legendary..... so would the dates.......... think about it,,, The iconic-ness of the first ever unison raid from luvia.... the Juvia/Lisanna team up during tenrou.... the spite from shipping something against the majority of the fandom,,,,, Come down here into this cellar with me...
I also like ervia a lot, they have a lot of potential!! I wish we got to see them spar 1 on 1, like before tenrou? Also the scene where Erza conforts her after she failed to give the scarf to Gray 🥹🥹??? Cana and Juvia are also funny and they have GREAT chemistry in canon, most tensioned filled Juvia ship ever & im surprised its not right behind Gruvia as the fandoms favorite Juvia ship.
Lyvia also wouldve been cool!!! I love whenever 2 characters are unhealthy and obsessed with one another, and lyvia could've been that had Juvia reciprocated his feelings. Also seems better than gruvia. Lyon doesn't actually stalk her hes just a simp whenever he spots her.
Meredy/Juvia is cute too (AFTER the timeskip) idk they're adorable. I think the FTGKMR card of Meredy wearing Juvia's clothes sold me on this, because lets be honest if she was wearing Lyon's outfit, the whole fandom would've screeched as well 🙄 you've seen their reaction towards Lucy wearing Natsus vest thing, let me have this. But yeah i see it Less as romantic and more just best friends. Not quite mother/daughter or siblings because i never got the chance to think of it that way too much while watching (Thanks to the timeskip immediately after tenrou too)
Aquarius and Juvia would've been neat to see more of, especially when they got along SO WELL during the short amount of time they talked in the celestial spirit realm 😭 This is kinda a joke ship but yeah i do like it :)
Navia and gajuvia are cool too 👍 They're are getting up to no good!!! Again, i see them more as friends than lovers but I see the appeal.
Also heres the meredy card im talking about in case you want to see:

Related to my other post about Neku the other day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is what gives the best glimpse of what Neku was like before the Game. They just saw Rhyme getting erased, and Neku is hurt and lashes out on Shiki, opening about his feelings at the same time. We need to remember that at this moment, Neku is still amnesiac and doesn't truly remember anything about his past. Still, I believe he truly means those words since he never takes them back even after regaining his memories.
As I said in the other post, Neku doesn't hate people. What he hates is getting hurt because of others, and this is perfectly explained here: the word hurt itself is highlighted in his dialogue. But there's also something else, that we can find again in neo: it's this need of real, genuine human connection. Neku hates having friends because he thinks that the connection friends have is fake and based on lies. It tracks with what he says afterwards during his week with Joshua: you can't truly understand others, so any connection you will have with people won't be genuine and true.
At the beginning of the Game, Neku is selfish. There's no going around it: he pushes others away because they might hurt him, he tries to kill Shiki to save his own skin (remember Uzuki's words? "You're the star, kiddo. Just do things your way. [...] What are you waiting for? Do what comes naturally. Save yourself. Screw everybody else, right?"), he doesn't consider for a second that she needs him as much as he needs her to stay alive. Because of this selfishness, he doesn't believe that others can offer genuine kindness to others, that everytime someone does something nice to someone it's to get something from it—thus, the idea of people "pretending to agree with you" so you end up caring about them and getting hurt afterwards. It was all their big plan, right? And Neku doesn't want to walk into that.
So you'd think that because of that and his hatred towards liars, Neku would be mad at Shiki for lying about her appearance for almost the whole week, right? But our favourite emo boy simply tells her "Everyone has their off days, right?" when she apologises that they might fail the mission (and get erased) because of her. So what happened? What made him change that much? Well, the answer is simple enough: Shiki.
Shiki's kindness, her dream to make people happy with clothes, her insistence on the fact that "Not all lies are bad ones", her forgiveness and will go give others a second chance... Everything Shiki did, unknowingly, brought Neku to consider that maybe, just maybe, people weren't all that bad. Taking a peek into Shiki's world made Neku expand his own. She might have lied, but that was because she was scared and lost, just like him, and he sees himself in her—just two teenagers thrown into a game of life or death, holding on to their beliefs and trying to work together despite the hurt they're both carrying. I believe this is what makes Neku start to change—it's only the start, and his two other Partners will, too, help him to keep going towards that path of change.
It all comes up to that big lie in neo—that I already talked about here—the fact that he tells everyone that he doesn't know who sent him to Shinjuku. Neku, the blunt, brutally honest Neku Sakuraba, who hated lies because he firmly believed that nothing good could come of it, that they would only hurt people and especially people close to you like your friends, lying, openly, to the whole group of the Wicked Twisters—including Beat! Incredible. I just wanted to elaborate a little more on that, because that hatred ran deep, and despite everything, Neku managed to change that much.

Got all the secret reports in NEO: The world ends with you, so I'm finally laying out my thoughts on it. Also read-more-ing and am gonna do so in the future given Post Size.
This is a pretty good sequel, in the ways it takes the original, and iterates on it. I do wish it was a little more sequel-y in some ways, mostly because I feel like the starting hook is kinda weak as a returning fan. It took me til almost the end of week 2 to actually feel invested, but the moment it hit and delivered it was REALLY worth it each time it did. How do you take something as blunt as the first game and iterate on it? Well, you add some nuance and update the commentary. The digital age and the masks we wear is a good way to do that, and the cherry on top of "life has meaning because of the people in it" iterates well for what is basically Antisocial Human Recovery Game. On the note of humans, this game's supporting cast is really fucking strong. People from 1 come back as supporting members, and we get some standouts in Motoi and Kanon (Kanon my beloved she is in the apartment complex in my brain), and we have Nagi+Beat, and to a much lesser degree Neku in the main party doing it. Nagi especially works imo because she's constantly there and we do see a lot of her as a main party member, but her emotional development isn't really central. She's instead working off everyone else as a pseudo-mentor, emotionally. This is mostly relevant in week 3, but it's still present elsewhere. The music fucking bangs! Again, gets really good in week 3 imo, but I'm a rock/post hardcore kinda girl and this scratches that first itch pretty well. It's kinda poppy rock but I think that works for again, iteration with the pop with some rock from the first game. Shoutouts to, unsurprisingly, Breaking Free, probably my second favorite song from these games (behind Calling), Revelation, DIVIDE, and Unpainted. The game also uses the lyrics in its songs to elevate scenes/reinforce things the game wants you to feel/know REALLY well. I'm generally a fan of in-your-face things and this delivers hard there. I do wish this game was a little more driven by its characters before the end, because something I liked about the first was how strongly driven it was by its characters, but the plot here (especially with the information granted by the secret reports) is good enough I'm not bent out of shape about it? It's a personal preference thing but this is my personal preference zone. Again, still a good plot, it just took so long for me to get invested as opposed to the first game's strength with the Neku+Shiki opening stuff that I do lament that. All in all, even if it took me a hot minute to get through, this game is really fucking nice. It's got good style, a lot of heart, and a message I think that a lot of people could benefit from, especially as we get more and more wound up and isolated by social media's trappings.

I would like to request some headcanons for shiki, kei, hajun and iori with reader fem whose singing manages to stop and calm giving them a feeling of peace, when they have a trap reaction, eliminating any trace of the trap reaction returning them to normal, but reader doesn't know because her singing has that effect, she only has the feeling of wanting to help them. thanks for the event :') I can't wait for the next activities!! #Hebi100Special
Writer's corner: It's the 18th request I got for the Special 100, and I'm posting now! So sorry for being this late, darl, but I really hope you like the result! Just tell me if you want me to change anything! Enjoy~

⋆Shiki was suffering
⋆His skin was full of metal erosion
⋆His hand's skin was the worst
⋆His cheeks full of tears
⋆His mind was focusing on those memories
⋆The good ones and the bad ones he had lived
⋆He was sure to die
⋆The pain was undescribable
⋆His heart beating faster due to fear of death
⋆He felt the skin breaking away from his bones.
⋆He couldn't feel his hands anymore
⋆And his hands were still holding that cross pendant, his phantometal.
⋆"Please.... Have mercy on me!!"
⋆This was what he was thinking among his screams and crying.
⋆Then suddenly something fell
⋆His phantometal reached the ground and he saw nothing but darkness.
⋆Again a voice
⋆A beautiful and charming voice singing
⋆A light breaking the darkness of his mind
⋆Saving him from the death
⋆It happened in a few seconds
⋆Oh well, that's what he believed.
⋆Seconds before was about to die, his hands subjected to metal corrosion..
⋆Seconds later he found himself between your arms, his cheeks full of your tears.
⋆"Shiki!... Shiki! ... Answer me!.. Please.. Don't ... don't go away!"
⋆When he opened his eyes he had no idea what had happened before
⋆He could barely remember and felt dizzy but instinctively he looked at his own hands.
⋆They were... Fine.
⋆They were fine!
⋆There wasn't any metal erosion!
⋆Shiki couldn't believe it! You had saved him!
⋆But.. How?
⋆He had no time to think more because your arms wrapped around his figure again
⋆Your sobbing but relieved voice filled his ears.
⋆"I'm sooo glad you are fine!! You scared me!!"
⋆Your sense of helping was what characterized you the most
⋆And maybe it was the key of it.
⋆Shiki smiled weakly and hugged you back
⋆"Thank you, y/n..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆Kei looked at his own hand
⋆That plain bracelet of his..
⋆It was his phantometal
⋆And it was damaging his entire arm with metal erosion
⋆That was in front of his eyes
⋆But he couldn't stop rapping
⋆He had to keep going
⋆But it was painful!
⋆"My arm... It-it HURTS!"
⋆He said, clenching his teeth
⋆With the other hand he maintained his arm, decided to go on rapping
⋆But his words..
⋆They couldn't let his throat.
⋆He couldn't talk!
⋆Some cold sweat let his forehead as he felt his heart slowly stopping beating.
⋆It was his end?
⋆He was about to die?!
⋆Those seconds of his fall onto the ground seemed not to end at all.
⋆That moment looked in slow motion
⋆The world seemed tarnished as his friends' faces did
⋆He could manage to hear a voice, even if not clear enough.
⋆"K...i!... ...N..!! Do...t!....."
⋆After that he saw nothing but black.
⋆His body felt heavy as hell and he couldn't move a finger either.
⋆Kei's mind was focused on his little brother..
⋆On that brother he lost in the past and didn't meet again.
⋆Kei was sure.
⋆It was his moment to leave that world
⋆But something changed his mind
⋆A voice broke that mortal silence
⋆Someone was singing and his body was starting to feel lighter than before.
⋆In some minutes he managed to open his eyes and saw Rokuta and Itsuki.
⋆They were worried, even Itsuki!
⋆Rokuta was crying scared and Itsuki was holding Kei's arm
⋆In front of him there were you too, completely scared but glad he was fine.
⋆You wrapped your arms around his neck as you hugged him tightly.
⋆"Keiii!.. I'm glad you're alive!..."
⋆Kei couldn't understand how it was possible
⋆What saved him?
⋆Who saved him?
⋆It was you?..
⋆But... How did you...?
⋆He hugged you back, wondering what magical power you owned.
⋆Maybe it was your kindness.. Perhaps your sense of taking care of people you love?..
⋆He didn't know.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆"Hajun!! Stop rapping!! Your hand is...!"
⋆That is what Allen yelled after noticing what was happening to Hajun's hand.
⋆His ring, that phantometal, was slowly damaging his hand.
⋆You're a failure, Yeon Hajun...
⋆Maybe that's the reason why nobody wants you!
⋆It's because you're full of flaws!
⋆You're not as flawless as you think!
⋆"Shut up... Shut up... SHUT UP!"
⋆Hajun suddenly put his hands on his head, looking down
⋆Some tears were slowly letting his eyes, which were open wide.
⋆The thought of being unwanted..
⋆That was the worst thing
⋆That was his trauma.
⋆He overused his phantometal days before..
⋆And now not only metal erosion
⋆But even his trauma were destroying him!
⋆He knew he didn't have to listen to those voices
⋆He was aware that those voices, those memories, everything he was seeing in his mind were part of the past.
⋆Back then he was unwanted..
⋆But now he was changed!
⋆He had changed!
⋆Now he had friends and they appreciated him for the way he was!
⋆But...
⋆He couldn't help but face his past
⋆He had to face those voices and memories which didn't let him sleep in peace.
⋆Suddenly Hajun heard a voice
⋆That voice managed to shut those memories which were destroying him
⋆Hajun felt your hands holding him tightly
⋆And his hand, subjected to metal erosion..
⋆It healed in front of his eyes.
⋆Your voice was softly singing about being proud of oneself
⋆About remembering that people are not alone and they are loved.
⋆Hajun focused on your words and couldn't hear those bad memories any longer
⋆He hugged you back and started crying
⋆It wasn't usual to see him crying, but he was, even if hiding his face against your chest.
⋆It was clear that the power of your care for him had healed him
⋆You had saved him with your heart!
⋆"...I love you... I love you a lot."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
⋆That phantometal
⋆It was a disaster!
⋆Iori found himself onto the ground
⋆While he was rapping his mind was caught by memories of his past
⋆Memories linked to all his friends died
⋆All their voices screaming and then the silence of death
⋆It had been horrible
⋆That day had been horrible!
⋆He had seen his friends dying in front of his eyes
⋆And couldn't do anything to avoid it or to protect them
⋆While rapping it happened
⋆He was sure to be able to go on but..
⋆His chest was starting to feel heavier than before
⋆His heart did hurt a lot
⋆And then he was there on his knees, putting an hand against his own chest
⋆It hurt as hell!
⋆He was sure there was some metal erosion on his chest
⋆He was aware of it
⋆But he couldn't stop rapping
⋆He had to go on!
⋆Iori tried to stand up but fell again on his knees.
⋆"ANIKI! (Big brother)"
⋆All the other Akan Yatsura members ran to him as he fell again
⋆Iori tried to calm them down
⋆"I'm... I'm fine. Don't worry about me!", he forced a smile
⋆But Zen approached him and discovered Iori's chest full of metal erosion signs.
⋆That's when you joined AKYR, scared and worried for Iori
⋆You were aware of your power
⋆Of that ability to cure trap reactions
⋆So you told AKYR to move away and to let you taking care of it
⋆"Please, y/n... Help Aniki!"
⋆Reo whispered hugging you before giving you space
⋆Iori had his eyes closed and his breathing was heavy
⋆You approached him terrified by the fact that the metal erosion might have touched his heart
⋆And you started singing, hugging him
⋆Iori opened his eyes softly only to see yours pointed on him
⋆He had never seen something like that
⋆It looked like a sort of magic!
⋆Those metal erosion signs were flying away just like glitters in the air
⋆His eyes opened wide as he realized that it was thanks to you!
⋆You had made it!
⋆He couldn't explain how it was possible!
⋆And he felt...
⋆He felt better...
⋆Iori asked for explanation later that same day and got surprised to hear:
⋆"I don't know how I do but... I manage to do it when I'm scared to lose someone I really care about.."
⋆..so you managed because you cared about him?
⋆Iori smiled.
⋆"Thank you.. I care about you too, y/n.."

First of all thanks for the chapter it was a very good one and I appreciate your work , and sorry for the multitude of questions
Second, I was thinking in the past few days about how much shiki could change things and a sudden though hit me, shiki could possibly kill mahogara right? And if she did so, would that mean Megumi is getting slapped with a special class rank? (And if she did that, how would satoru and the others react)
Third, I was thinking about the balance between the 3 great families and well, I can't really understand why the kamo are among them, like , the gojo have the six eyes and infinity, the zenin have the 10 shadows and mahoraga, but what do the kamo have? Blood manipulation, don't get me wrong it's a cool as hell technique, but I don't think it measures up to the other two(like choso and the death paintings are an exception because their curse blood gives them both poisonous/acidic properties and allows them to turn cursed energy into more blood), idk what do you think?
Fourth, I can't stop imagining geto watching shiki's dance during obon, like I can imagine him being far away enough so satoru doesn't find him, but I can't take the image of geto just being there watching things unfold out of my head
Fifth, do you plan on continuing your Tokyo ghoul or your One piece stories? And i heard you're gonna move your works completely to AO3 , is that true?
Hello and thanks for reading! To answer your questions:
1: To my understanding, in order for the user of Ten Shadows to add a new shikigami to their roster, they must summon and defeat it by themselves.
Quoting Fushiguro from c.117: "You can exorcise a shikigami with multiple people, but doing so nullifies the technique's effect after the exorcism is done."
So, they can pull others into this ritual -but it's a 'useless exorcism,' as the sorcerer won't actually be able to summon the shikigami even if it's defeated. (Unless the shikigami is summoned for a similar purpose as in Fushiguro v. Shigemo, in which case Fushiguro wasn't actually trying to subdue Mahogara.)
TLDR: Neither Shiki nor Satoru can defeat Mahogara for Fushiguro to gain it as a shikigami.
2: I mean... given that the three clans are all stated to be descended from the Three Great Vengeful Spirits, I'd assume that means the three clans all have powerful sorcerers? In some ways you could argue that Blood Manipulation seems to fall short of Limitless and Ten Shadows, but maybe it also has to do with the situation as a whole. For example, say that there's a generation where there's only a Limitless user without Six Eyes and no Ten Shadows, I could easily see a sorcerer with Blood Manipulation from the Kamo Clan come out on top.
If there was ever a blood manipulator at some point in the past who could also manipulate other people's blood in addition to their own, I'd imagine that would be quite terrifying as well.
3: I don't think Geto would've taken the risk to watch Shiki's performance during Obon in person, but he definitely would've learned of it in short order.
4: left hand upon a mirror is discontinued; I don't see myself picking it back up and continuing it. and much madness must make is complete, with a nonzero chance of random au updates if the muse strikes in the future.
Any new stories that I write going forward will be posted on AO3 and not FFN.

🎁 For the @twewysecretsanta!
Neku Sakuraba never thought in a million years that he'd get another chance at celebrating Christmas.
He'd saved Shibuya again, reunited with his friends, and even made new ones along the way— It was a happy ending no matter which way you sliced it! Or at least it seemed like it. Why did it all feel too good to be true?
“Neku?” Right, Shiki was with him. He didn't want to worry his girlfriend over something so inconsequential.
But to her, it was anything but that.
Hello everyone! And a belated Merry Christmas to you! ^^;
Thanks to the world of retail sucking the life outta me in the Holiday season, plus catching NO LESS than three colds in December alone, this took longer than I expected.
This is the fic for my giftee @ghostofchaosyettocome in the TWEWY Secret Santa event, using their prompt of a Post-NEO Neshiki Christmas (along with a hint of PTSD!Neku cause we need that drama lol) I hope you like it! <3
Tumblr media
And so there she was, sporting an adorable Mr. Mew Christmas sweater of her own making which honestly looked far too big on her, all the while staring at him with a hint of confusion.
Neku Sakuraba never thought in a million years that he'd get another chance at celebrating Christmas.
To say being trapped in the endless void of Shinjuku for two years was scarring would be an understatement— seeing what could only be described as ‘ghosts’ of souls that used to live in a thriving environment, replaying the same tormenting cycle as if they were still alive, when they clearly weren't.
It had taken Neku a long time to come to terms with this fact. That they weren't there. Weren't real.
Yet still, the souls would continue acting on autopilot, reflecting habits from their old lives. Everything from talking, to laughing, to even celebrating. It was a truly surreal experience that never had Neku feeling more alone.
Because of this, the legendary player would find himself understanding better than ever that old saying of ‘You never know what you have until you lose it.’ And the feelings were very much still present, despite having escaped both Shinjuku and the Reaper's game almost five months ago.
He'd saved Shibuya again, reunited with his friends, and even made new ones along the way—It was a happy ending no matter which way you sliced it! Or at least it seemed like it.
Why did it all feel too good to be true?
“Neku?”
A firm yet gentle voice broke the teen out of whatever trance he'd placed himself in, almost causing him to jump out of his skin if he didn't stop himself on time. With all that thinking he'd almost forgotten where he was.
Speaking of his newest friends and going back to the holiday season, the Wicked Twisters had proposed the idea of hosting a small Christmas party with the gang. Well, it was mostly brought up by Fret, who got immediate backup from Shoka and Nagi, so it wasn't like anyone else could refuse.
They'd do it relatively early though, so everyone could still have enough time to go home and spend the evening with their families as well.
The Twisters were in charge of the food, with Fret claiming he had connections with a few restaurants that might be willing to lend a generous hand. The Bito siblings would take care of entertainment, Rhyme almost signing up for the position by herself since she had a few new gadgets she'd been tinkering with that, according to her, would make their little get together much livelier.
Which left Neku and Shiki with the decorations.
The duo had made a date out of the whole thing by going to purchase everything from a tree, to snow globes, to even small things like wrapping paper. Shiki spared no expense in acquiring any of these either, since she considered herself the host due to the party being held at her apartment— It was the largest out of everyone's homes.
Once they'd reunited at the Hachiko statue and fulfilled the promise they'd made to each other all those years ago, Neku felt bold enough to declare his feelings, and he could've never expected them to be reciprocated. After everything he'd put her through, after being what could only be described as a major asshole for the majority of the time they knew each other, how could someone like Shiki Misaki have feelings for him?
Right, he hadn't answered yet.
“Sorry, what was that? I spaced out for a sec there.” Neku rubbed at the back of his neck with a sheepish grin, hoping he could get away without any inquiries.
Shiki continued to stare, most likely trying to decipher what was hiding behind his current expression, before extending her hand towards him. “I'll say! I was asking if you could pass me the ornaments from the box over there.”
Neku followed to where she was gesturing and quickly found the cardboard box behind him. It was filled with all sorts of nick knacks brought together by the gang, each with their own special meanings and ready to be placed on the tree. The teen pushed the box in her direction with a smile. “Sure thing. We won't be short on these, that's for sure.”
As she accepted the box and gave him a small smile, the brunette pushed it to the side for the time being. “Yeah, everyone really put their all into this! Still… you okay?” With a roll of her eyes, Shiki joked lightly. “I'll be needing my decorating buddy at a hundred percent if we're gonna get this done on time.”
“Damn. Guess I can't fool her…” Neku prided himself on being able to mask his true feelings in front of others without anyone realizing it. He'd definitely gotten better over the years in expressing what he felt, but there were times when he didn't deem it necessary, and even considered that they would be a burden if not handled carefully.
But if there was one person that could see right through him, it was Shiki.
Despite knowing all of this, he tried one more time, not wanting his dumb thoughts to interfere with the jolly energy of the season. He smiled once more with a hint of embarrassment in his voice. “Of course I'm okay! I've just been kinda stressed lately with all the organizing we've had to do. Not that I don't enjoy spending time with you, but who knew planning a party would be this hard, haha…”
The look on Shiki's face was more than enough for him, though; It was clear she didn't believe him. Still, her eyes didn't reflect negativity of any kind.
She stood from the ground next to the tree and boxes piled around her, making her way to Neku. After sitting next to him on the couch, she tentatively reached for his hand, but not quite touching it, allowing him to make the first move if he so desired. She then spoke with that firm yet gentle voice he'd grown to love so much. “Hey. Talk to me. Please? Remember you're not alone anymore— I'm right here if you need anything.”
The fluttering in Neku's chest was completely uncalled for and Shiki had no right in bringing him so much comfort. Making him feel taken care of. As if he was special.
And yet that was one of the many qualities that made him love his girlfriend so very much.
Shiki smiled in return with a soft pink hue adorning her cheeks. As she squeezed her boyfriend's hand once more, she rose from her seat. “Actually, wait here! I'm gonna grab something real quick!”
Still, it was true. She claimed to have fallen for the real Neku. The one she'd slowly gotten the pleasure of knowing during their time together in the Reaper's Game— a boy who'd been hurt by the world and only wanted to be left alone, but deep down had a heart of gold that wouldn't allow him to leave those in need.
And so, to literally no one's surprise in their friend group, they became a couple.
It was both awkward yet endearing, and neither could be more happy. But of course, after everything the legendary player had gone through in his two years stuck in Shinjuku, it took a while to readjust and feel comfortable around everyday mundane stuff again.
Shiki learned how to handle Neku's anxieties, his worries, and his fears— most of the time whenever he was having a crisis, their friends would call her immediately to ask what to do. And even though he hated being a burden, the seamstress merely shushed him and said that she did it gladly.
And so here she was, doing the thing she did best— bringing him back to his senses and making sure he felt safe.
He reached for her hand and interlocked their fingers, squeezing slightly while she did the same. She was warm. She was real. “I guess I'm just… still wrapping my head around being here. With you guys.”
With her eyes encouraging him to elaborate, he did. “I spent two years away from everyone. I know it's already been months since then, but there's always that voice nagging at the back of my head… whispering and making me question things.”
“Things like what?” Shiki leaned closer, not into Neku's personal bubble, but enough to show that she was paying close attention.
“Things like… is any of this for real? Or not? I… I get scared thinking I'll just wake up one day and still be stuck there. Thinking that this was all a dream,” a bitter chuckle escaped his lips. “Coco was probably the only person who kept me sane all that time, believe it or not.”
“And that is why she and Tsugumi are getting extra presents this year.” Shiki nodded towards the unwrapped gifts still laying on the coffee table. She bumped her shoulders against his with a wink. “Gotta show appreciation for taking care of my spicy tuna roll in my absence.”
The duo chuckled with the tension dissipating from Neku's shoulders bit by bit. How could she do that so effortlessly?
“In any case,” the brunette turned her gaze to their intertwined hands, gently tracing circles around Neku's knuckles. “I can't begin to imagine what that must have been like. I know you've already told us a bit about it, but if there's anything I can do to make that feeling become a little less overbearing, just let me know. I'm sure the others would do the same, if you ever feel like sharing.”
Neku gave her a soft smile, a genuine one this time. As he lifted their joined hands, he was sure to plant a soft kiss on her own backhand, scarred from all the sewing she was used to doing. In a way it was kind of ironic— she also had a wounded heart, one that Neku did his best to show love and appreciation to every day, and yet she still focused on other's well-being first and foremost. “You're already doing enough just by being here.”
A blush spread across the teen's face with a breathless chuckle leaving his lips. “Come on, Shiki. These are far from perfect. Still, I'm glad you like them.”
With that said, the seamstress practically skipped over to her bedroom in what could only be described as excitement. It took her less than a minute to return with a medium sized box, wrapped in green wrapping paper and tied in a neat purple bow. A grin spread across her face as she presented the gift with pride. “Merry Christmas!”
“Wow, hey,” Neku returned the smile, albeit seeming hesitant as he looked at the box in her hands. “We're doing this now? I mean, we agreed to open the gifts with everyone…”
“Oh don't worry, I've got another much less interesting thing wrapped for you under the tree.” Shiki nodded towards a tiny box lined next to the few wrapped presents that they'd already finished. “Besides, I get girlfriend priority— Now just open it!”
The teen chuckled in amusement, but gladly took the package off her hands and started weighing it around, curiosity clear in his gaze. It had to be something handmade. This was Shiki after all, and she always put that kind of effort into her gifts.
He could've never predicted what was inside.
The box opened to reveal a medium sized notebook, along with a kit of markers and crayons of pretty much every shade of the rainbow. After flipping through the booklet, his mouth hung open slightly.
It was a journal.
“I know your therapist recommended that you keep one, but I couldn't help but notice that the one you have is… well, kinda plain.” Shiki fidgeted with the hem of her fluffy sweater as she began her explanation. “Shoka helped me pick the design and I added the little doodles inside. You can make your own, though! And it also has a custom playlist on a few important dates…”
Tiny drawings with everything from character portraits, to animals, to musical notes were sprinkled here and there. Shiki had never been much of an artist, but Neku could tell she'd spent some time making these. The smile wouldn't leave his face as he kept flipping through it all. “This is… amazing. I love it.”
“You do? Ahh, I'm so glad! I know it's not the best, but I figured it would look better than your plain old notebooks.” Shiki giggled and started showing off some of the things she'd included personally in the journal. A page for positive talk, another for gloomy thoughts that wouldn't go away, and even one for things he might wanna talk to her about.
It was one of the cutest things he'd ever gotten, and honestly he shouldn't be surprised.
“Well, I guess since we're starting early, might as well give you yours.” Neku leaned over to reach for his backpack on the side of the couch, rummaging through it until he found a small green box with a silver bow. He turned to the brunette with a shy smile, not quite meeting her eyes. “Merry Christmas…”
Shiki's eyes instantly lit up as she quickly accepted the gift. With bated breath, he saw her open the box and delicately grab what was nestled inside.
Two small plushies were now in Shiki's hands, and not just any plushies— fluffy replicas of both herself and Neku.
The stitching was quite rough, a few strings already coming loose around the edges, but you could see the tiny details embedded into the fabric. Patterns, accessories and more were all there. The dolls smiled back at Shiki, and Neku could've sworn he heard her gasp softly. “Neku… did you… did you make these?”
Neku merely scratched at the back of his neck, looking anywhere but in her direction as he began to ramble. “I mean, Eri helped me pick out the materials and with the designs, but all the stuffing and stitching was definitely me. I know they aren't great, but you always get me handmade stuff and after thinking about Mr. Mew I thought I could do something similar? You're more than welcome to fix them though, I'm sure you'd do a much better job—”
His train of thought was promptly interrupted by a pair of arms snaking around his own, pulling him downwards with a soft pair of lips placing a kiss on his cheek. He then heard her giggle, happy and carefree. “Are you kidding me? Neku Sakuraba, I am not touching these unless they start falling apart in my hands! Because you made them, and that makes them perfect.”
And that was more than he could ever ask for.
“Like them? I love them!” Shiki reiterated the point by giving the plushies a bear hug. “Now I can have you with me no matter where you are. Doesn't mean you can go off and get yourself tangled in more world-ending adventures, though!”
Neku laughed in reply, feeling the last shred of uneasiness wash away from him. What did he do to deserve such happiness? “I'll keep that in mind. Anyways, you think we can get back to work? Don't want the others to realize we've been goofing off. Nagi won't let us live it down.”
Shiki laughed in reply, placing the dolls on top of her chimney for them to guard the stockings. “Oh man, it's Shoka I'm most worried about. I know she has something special planned for Rindo, so we need to get this tree up and running STAT!”
“Aye aye, captain!” The teen situated himself next to his girlfriend and began to help her decide which ornament would look best where.
Life wasn't always fair. But for some reason Neku couldn't possibly grasp, it was now being extremely kind to him— With a family who cared for him, friends who adored him, and the love of the girl who stole his heart.

another day, another touhou post! i almost missed the deadline on this one (not that it really matters, the pace is gonna slow down a lot in a couple posts anyways once i catch up). today's game is a bit of a weird one!
nina's thoughts on Touhou 9 - Phantasmagoria of Flower View
PoFV is a pretty strange game. instead of being a single-player experience like most mainline touhou games, PoFV is a competitive 2-player danmaku vs game. there is still a 1-player story mode, but instead of 6 stages and boss fights each character has 8 versus matches against other characters tied loosely together into a storyline.
the gameplay is neat, its honestly impressive how well the concept of a competitive danmaku battle actually works and it feels pretty natural. as usual the screen fills up with enemies and bullets, but stages dont have defined patterns or moments, instead both players keep surviving through an increasing onslaught of bullets and spell cards until one slips up and takes too many hits. destroying enemies creates a small explosion around them that deals damage to nearby enemies and sends weak bullets in the range to the other player's screen. if you line it up right you can get some nasty chain reaction explosions that can clear up your screen and really put the pressure on your opponent. in addition you can put more direct pressure on the other guy by building up your spell meter, expending it to summon powerful bullet patterns or even your own character as a boss fight onto your enemys side. while at times it can get a bit ridiculous (the two 'villain' characters have completely broken spell cards and insanely good ai piloting) in general the gameplay is fair and pretty fun!
as a fighting game of sorts, PoFV naturally has a rather large character roster, a total of 14 playable characters! we have the returners in Reimu, Marisa, Sakuya, Youmu, Reisen, Cirno, Lyrica, Mystia, Tewi, and Aya. Then we have 4 characters new to this game: Medicine, Yuuka, and the 'villains' of the story Komachi and Eiki Shiki. each character has different stats, shot types, zone shapes, and spell attacks, which makes for a lot of variety in the roster.
to try and unlock everything i beat the story mode for all 12 choices (Komachi and Eiki Shiki don't have a story mode). i didn't aim for 1cc's since the game doesn't differentiate whether you used a continue or not, but a couple of the runs happened to be done without continues: Marisa, Mystia, Aya, Medicine, and Yuuka. i dont remember enough about all the different characters bullets and stats to say that i really prefer any over the others, tbh if i were to play more i would probably just pick a character based on vibes alone. Marisa is my go-to generally, but im also partial to Cirno, Mystia, and Aya.
for the four new characters, theyre cool. Yuuka is probably my favourite solely because she gets a lot of cute art with Wriggle lol. for some reason the fandom is very split on whether Yuuka is an angry masochist or a lonely but wholesome flower lady. i think shes realistically somewhere in the middle. Medicine is also a neat concept, being an abandoned doll in a field of poisonous flowers who came to life through raw poisonous energy. Komachi is goofy, shes basically the grim reaper of Gensokyo but shes also really lazy and always slacking off, pretty much every singleplayer storyline involves her getting caught snoozing by her boss Eiki Shiki. Eiki Shiki herself is probably the weakest new character imo, its funny watching her judge all the characters supposed sins, but its really all she talks about, and her annoying fight isnt winning her any points for me.
PoFV is certainly a weird outlier in the series, but i think the gameplay does genuinely work pretty well! the idea of making a competitive bullet hell is so out there and they really put in the work to make it happen.
as always, thanks for reading! and if, somehow, someone is reading this who is remotely decent at touhou and wants to try playing the 2-player mode of this game with me, Please get in contact with me through whatever means works for you. i would love to give this a shot against an actual human.

oh geez uh uh any w-3 headcannons????
Yes many tee hee.
Most of these r new/havent said before but I will repeat some for sake of not having to rummage thru tags. ANd the ones rotting in my drafts. Sorry for length i am. not normal about these fish
DJ (they/he?) is nicknamed Faith, and with the og japanese name this nickname would be Chu(ji)
Timpanist (he/it) is nicknamed Val, jpnese version would be Oo(shiki) or just Midori bc that's a bit more presentable name
The Cellist (they/she/he). Uh. I don't have a set nickname for them I usually just call them The Cellist/ cellisake I think they'd be okay with being referred to as that too. I've also called them Algin even tho that's technically not who they are... I've seen Blade as a nickname for them but something like Jr or Kid in reference to the whole "First Child" thing could work. Idk I'm indecisive ig they have a lot of nicknames
They are all ND
The Cellist and Faith started the band and Val joined soon after. Perhaps it makes more sense for it to be the other way around but I feel like with the Cellist being stubborn and more out there with their ideas that they'd initially forgo a more traditional instrument until they realized something was missing.
Val and Faith live together. The Cellist lives alone, maybe nextdoor w/ a lil pulley system between the two houses. Houses made during the Salmon Run are not really meant to be long term so this was meant to be a temporary arrangement to streamline their work but as you can see it's been some time.
Faith finds this nice, they were pretty much homeless and just couch surfing pre omega 3 and ended up moving in w/ one of them in their permanent ocean residences and they decided for the Salmon Run to keep a similar idea
Faith likes a lot of urban, cool culture. Streetwear, graffiti, hip hop and break-dancing... etc etc. They're also very tech savvy. Preferred genres r edm/techno, rap +rnb and punk...
Val enjoys an active lifestyle. Into travel, camping, fishing and more outdoorsy things, working hard, eating well, taking part in festivities and trying to give back to the community when he's not too caught up in his own stuff. Likes traditional salmonid music a lot but also pretty big on grunge and nu-metal
The Cellist likes reading and interacting with art that is like. "good enough" for him. Most of it is confusing or dreary. Likes coffee in the morning and maybe a small glass of scotch on a lonely evening. And being right. As for genres he'll go for whatever he thinks is groundbreaking in specific songs mostly regardless of genre.. but I feel he'd like rock. Probably post punk and more experimental stuff? Maybe folk and some classical music... idk idk!!! If anything it's mostly stuff like Trout Mask Replica...
The Cellist does however claim to not like pop music. This is usually not a lie but. She does actually like some of the Squid Sister's songs maybe even some stuff from OTH or C-Side. She would rather die than admit this.
I do feel like if any of them had to choose a favorite band of the ones we know DJ would choose Dedf1sh or Sashimori maybe C side.. Val would go for bottom feeders and Cellist would say uhh ink theory may be.. it’s good jazz music
Also uh Splatfest teams!
Faith: Scissors, Grub or Fun, Grass, Sweet, Milk Chocolate, Aliens, Gano- Power. and Vanilla!
Val: Rock, Gear, Fire, Spicy, Dark Chocolate, Nessie, Courage, Strawberry
Cellist: Paper, Grub, Water, Sour, White? or Dark. Bigfoot, Wisdom, Mint ChocoChip
They have all physically fought on multiple occasions. There's been at least one near breakup too
The Cellist's dorsal/hair fin is greying, their coloration is also a bit warmer than other salmonids
Val is not completely blind it its injured eye but its vision is fucked. It's also sensitive to light and sensation which is a major reason for the eye patch
They all respect each other as musicians and people and deep down they all care but they really do argue a lot. They're not really people who blend well together at all. DJ rebels against all that is mainstream and all they don't like and even stuff they're more neutral on for the hell of it. They kindof think they're cool for being a jackass but theyve also just become very callous bc they didnt have a choice when they were younger... and they kind of feel like they're still on the defense. Esp since the other two are more experienced and older and tend to treat him like a kid sometimes esp the cellist...
Val means well but he often struggles to take others into account. He's very goal oriented, a one-way track sort of guy who often acts more than a little clueless or even selfish. Not as petty or stubborn as the Cellist but he's got a lot of inertia. That and he's just... kind of shit at socializing in ways that don't piss other people off. Says a lot of accidentally insensitive stuff too. Comes off pretty intense to some as well!! And the Cellist. Well. Stubborn, emotionally repressed, physically and verbally clumsy... they are also a very sensitive person with a lot of emotional empathy where they kind of sponge up whatever vibe they feel, but they don't quite have the ability to act on what they think would make things right!
So yeah they fight a lot between these clashing personalities that bring out the worst in each other and other creative differences. The stress of the job adds to it!
Faith has an older sister. Val has two older brothers and many younger siblings. The Cellist is an only child which is uncommon in salmonid society
Faith is a Goldie, at least partially so. Val is a cohock from a family of steelheads and Big Shots and is extra durable bc of this. The Cellist is a Maws or meant to be one... he either did not complete training or retired due to his clumsiness...
All of them have healthy appetites esp Val and the Cellist
Val and the Cellist have both been in different bands before. Val was in a rock band that only lasted a summer when he was like 17-18 and then was part of a traditional salmonid music ensemble for a couple years before ω-3
As for the Cellist they’ve been through a couple different musical groups. They left most due to creative differences and not getting along with band mates.
This is the DJ’s first like. Band. Before this they just did solo gigs and posted stuff online

a few nekushiki questions from me ^^ 1)Who do you think would confess first? 2) What do you think would happen if Shiki got jealous of Eri being close to Neku because she liked him (before they start dating)
1.) Who confessed first?
In the universe where A New Day never happened, I like to think it's Neku who confessed first. But like, he's super slow about it and mostly just dropping hints at first (he's shy and awkward about it) he thinks that the entry fee confession is enough 'hint' about how he feels, but Shiki doesn't really take it that way, she does like him but thinks if Neku is ever interested in her in that way it's probably because she looked like Eri at some point (it actually isn't) and the fact that Neku doesn't make any moves after they returned to the RG (it's more of him being really inexperienced and not knowing what he's supposed to do) sorta convinces her that the Entry Fee thing doesn't really mean anything. It took him awhile to realize he should have been more clear about how he feels about her if he wants to take their relationship somewhere.
As for the universe where A New Day happened, Shiki is the one who confessed. Neku's feelings about her never really changed (if anything he had primarily used her as his main motivation to return home) but he was aware a lot could've happened in 3 years and he decided not to pursue his feelings because he no longer felt like he's worth her time. Finding out Shiki actually has had a relationship (my personal HC) during the time he was gone added to it. Overall post-neo he suffered a lot of self-worth issues and just feeling out of place, especially after seeing Shiki has gone up and beyond with being the co-CEO of the current most popular brand around. It took Shiki telling him how much he meant to her that he finally got the courage to do something with it.
2.) How does Shiki handle her jealousy post-game?
Shiki's jealousy actually extends to not just Neku, but the rest of the gang. She's aware with how charismatic Eri is and at first she actually hesitates to introduce her to her 'new friends' out of fear that they might like her more and leave her behind like the many times it had happened with her schoolmates. But after Eri grows even more nosey and Beat and Rhyme actually expressed interest in meeting her, she finally caves in and just tries to accept it if her worst fear really does come true (Eri and Beat did end up getting along well, but that's it)
After awhile, she just takes it in stride. Accepting that it's natural that people would like Eri more than her and tries to just be happy for her friend. At some point, Neku and Eri got some time alone together (maybe he lost a bet and now he had to carry Eri's shopping bags during a shopping spree. Which ends up being essentially a date) Shiki's response? She just jokingly said he got lucky he got to go on a date with the popular Eri just like during the Reaper's Game (while burying her own jealousy of course)
Overall, she still has the habit of covering up how she really felt when it comes to her resentment towards her best friend (I mean, how are you supposed to be upfront about it?) And tries to manage it in a bit healthier way (with varying results) trying not to put herself down as much but also trying not to think too much of 'it should've been me!' all the time, and that she cannot control about how other people feels about her.

NEO: TWEWY
yeah I know, im late to the party.  Fake fan, whatever
BUT
I finally started playing NEO and oh my god
(for reference as of this post im on week 2 day 4,  so ya know, all of THAT has happened already
I wish I had thought to like, liveblog it or something, because I am SO invested right now.  I don't think I will, necessarily, I just wanted to put my predictions and thoughts out there so I can see how they stack up once I reach end game.
spoilers, obviously (also unedited)
okay so first, ARE we actually dead???  like I made a joke about it to my friend like “they are such Gen Z, like oh were dead?  Cool AND THEN DIDN’T QUESTION ANYTHING ABOUT THAT” but then it kept going and we still haven't talked about it?  Until we finally met Beat (my boy, I’ll get to you)  and he firmly says he's alive.  That opens a whole host of questions for me
Is he really?
Are we?
is anyone else, if we are?
I’m pretty sure there's some legit dead players, but now that im thinking about it I can't remember now if they actually said they died, or if they've just been playing the game long term (Motoi, and one of the Variabeauties come to mind)
and then what does that mean if they’re taking living players???  is that even allowed???
which brings me to my second point: WHER IS JOSH???  like im not expecting him to be a main character, but he is/was basically GOD, so is this him???  I don't think it is because we thought he learned a lesson since last time, and living players was never a thing when he was in charge.  So did he get taken out of commission?  is he the mysterious “you” that the hat character is talking about.  (I have a theory, ill get to it)
and Neku.  My son, my boy, my little spicy tuna roll.  How does this man come back into play now of all times.  first of all, what did he do to get back on the reapers radar after three years.  these ‘new’ games have been running for at least a year (we know Motoi has been playing for a year at least) and its been three years since the Big Game that took every one out, so how long have they been looking for him, how long has he been in hiding, and why can't they find him?  they wanted us players to track him down and fight him, which implies that he's still currently connected to the UG in a way that lets us interact with him, but if that's the case, shouldn't they be able to like, trace him or something (that might be a fanfic thing I've made canon in my head, about people having traceable auras or whatever).  because it sounded like Beat’s been looking for him too, and up until recently Beat was in the UG, so where's Neku?
and then Beat, poor guy.  Why is he looking for Neku anyway?  I mean, I guess if my friend is missing, id look too, but how long has Beat been looking for him?  How long has be been missing?  Why did he get dragged back into this mess too???  I’m digging the new fit tho, don't get me wrong, I liked Beat well enough before, but he looks a lot more Sk8ter Boi and less ‘basketball player’ now.  I do hope Rhyme and Shiki are doing okay without their guys tho, I wonder if we’ll hear anything about them at all?
Also what the fuck is Hype-Chan’s deal?  (I KNOW she has a name now, but she's been Hype-chan since 2012, she will be Hype-chan until I die). Like, something is going on with her and I can't wait to find out what.
Another question: I think its pretty obvious that the ruin bringers are getting special treatment.  the question is, why?  Whats the goal of keeping everybody in the UG like this indefinitely?  because that's what it looks like to me.  The whole point of the reapers game, as Kariya put it, is to find the best and brightest Shibuya has to offer, to give the people who can make Shibuya a better place a second chance at life.  Obviously the rules have changed since the last time we played, but what's the point of keeping everyone in Limbo like this?  Obviously Shiba’s having a good time (also, who made him the new conductor???  it couldn't have been Josh, no way) but what's even the point of having a game if you won't let anyone come back to life???
And where did all of these reapers even come from?  Uzuki told us that there are reapers all over the place, but did they wander here themselves, where they appointed by the higher ups?  Who's the producer now, since CAT is apparently on hiatus (I guess Sanae got in trouble after all?)
and then there's that whole vision Rindo had and keeps having about Shibuya like, blowing up or whatever.  Thats a whole thing I don't even have thoughts about yet.
theres a bigger story here im not seeing yet (at least I hope so, ill be disappointed if im wrong).
Heres what I think.  My predictions, if you will.
I think that something happened to Joshua after the Big Game.  We know that Sanae got in trouble, so it would stand to reason that Josh did too.  I think he disappeared himself (like with Another Day) and left Shibuya a vacuum, with very few strays left to pick up the pieces (Uzuki, Kariya, and that one wall reaper who said he knew Neku from before are the ones I can think of).  I think that, seeing this open playing field, reapers from other districts were either moved in, or they took it themselves (they seem like the sort.  All the new reapers are kinda sleazy and I don't trust them). I think that Neku, for whatever reason, figured this out, or was told, or kept some kind of connection with the UG or with Josh (hello fanfic brain, I see you) - I honestly wouldn't put it past Kariya to know more than he’s telling us so far, and to have something to do with it.  I think Neku dug himself back into the UG somehow to look for Joshua, so that Joshua can fix things again - they said they wanted to make Neku a reaper, but I don't know how they pan on doing that because it never seemed like something you could force on someone, and also Beat was able to quit being one, so how were they planning on making him stay?  I think that the reapers are gonna try and pull something similar to what Kitaniji did with his red pins, but this time I think the goal is to... merge the RG and the UG - it would make sense what with the living player angle, I just don't know what the end goal is.
I ALSo think that Shokie is gonna be a party member at some point, just based on the box art.  Do I want her too?  not really, but I think she will be.
I didn't even get into WHATEVER Minamimoto has going on, I couldn't make heads or tails of it, other than I think he’s also looking for Joshua (I don't personally think he has any reason to look for Neku specifically, outside of to get to Josh). We’ll see, I don't think we’ve seen the last of Pi Face
I have a Lot more thoughts, but im kind of just rambling at this point.
We’ll see how it shapes up, and where I was wrong

Putting on Hairs - Post Production: EMP
Primary Pairing: ShikiMei Rating: G Words: 606 AU: Theater, Monsters, Cryptids Fandom: Love Live Superstar Parent Fic: Putting on Hairs - Post Production Time Frame: Early college years Event: Promptober 2022 Event Source: Idol Fanfic Heaven channel on Discord Prompt: Failure Content Warning: Vehicular Accidents
---------
Author’s Note: Entry for a Backup prompt
Summary: Shiki and Mei have an encounter on their way to class
---------
Mei breathed deep as she and Shiki exited the café after a wonderful dess… breakfast. She loved the smell of rain.
The forecasted storm had rolled in while the couple ate, darkening the skies enough that Mei felt no need to close her eyes once outside. Shiki produced her alchemically enhanced umbrella that produced a water repelling aura to prevent splashes coming in from the sides. And the couple began their trek to class.
She could hear it before she could see it. The tires slipping on the thin sheen of oil floating atop the falling rain that had yet to wash it away. Mei pushed into Shiki, hoping to guide them out of the path of the incoming car.
Then, with reflexes Mei often forgot she had, Shiki spun and shoved them both against the nearest wall. She put herself between Mei and the vehicle to let her effectively armored lab coat protect them both from the shower of glass shards.
PWFMMPH!
A blue-green explosion overloaded Mei’s visual senses.
Then. Black.
Shiki cursed and leaned heavily into her.
Mei could hear people gathering around. At least two were on the line with emergency services. Several were checking on the driver. Most were reacting to a power failure. But what mattered most to her was…
“Are you alright, Shiki?”
“I… I can’t move…”
“Did something hit you? I thought the car struck a post?”
“EMP.”
Oh.
“The crash must have caused a transformer to overload and explode, which sent out an electromagnetic pulse.”
So that’s what that was.
“My arm. My leg…”
“Oh gods, Shiki, you heart!”
“It’s shielded.”
Oh, thank the gods…
“My eyes. Mei’s eyes…”
“Yeah, I can’t see right now.” Mei admitted. “But I’m used to that.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m fine.”
“I failed to account for the possibilities of an EMP occurring.”
“I said I’m fine. I’m more worried about you.”
“…”
“Can you fix yourself?”
“Yes. But I need my equipment.”
“Then let’s get you to your lab.” Mei said, shifting herself around before stooping to pull Shiki onto her back.
The couple each leased their own dormroom adjacent to one another, but they primarily lived in Mei’s, while Shiki had converted hers into a laboratory for her research and experiments. And that was now their new destination. Classes would likely be skipped today.
“Are you two alright?” A voice suddenly asked from nearby.
“We’re fine.” Mei said, hoping her smile was convincing.
“Also, is this yours?”
Mei assumed the man was holding Shiki’s umbrella over them as the rain suddenly stopped falling on them.
“Yes. Thank you.” Mei replied as she felt Shiki accept the device.
“You’re sure you’re alright? An ambulance is on the way if you need medical attention.”
“We’re just a little shaken up. We’re going to head home and rest.”
“Very well. Take care.” The man said before moving off.
“Alright, now let’s head home.” Mei started walking. “While you’re working, I’ll make us some coffee to warm us up.”
“You know how to use my coffee maker?”
“I’ve watched you do it enough times. I think I can figure it out.”
“Alright. Thank you, Mei.”
“And thank you, Shiki, for protecting me.”
“I would do anything to protect Mei.”
Mei smiled. “I know.” That’s one of the things I love about you… She added silently. One of the many things. And while I wish it didn’t have to come about this way, I’m happy to return the favor. And maybe, someday, I can say such things more out loud…
“Mm…” Shiki rested her cheek on the back of Mei’s head and the couple settled into silence.
---------
Author’s Note Continued: According to my research, small electronic devices like phones and calculators and such are better at surviving EMPs than bigger devices. But I’m going with the idea that Shiki’s devices are more complex than normal, especially the eyes she made for Mei and herself, and are probably enhanced in some way or another with magic or alchemy or whatever that could inadvertently increase their vulnerability.

For the fandom meme: B, C, D, L, N, T, W, and Y.
B - A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind.
Depends on who counts as "someone". I don't actually have much involvement with fandom shipping but the story itself can present interesting relationships. If the writer doesn't count, however, then I can't think of an example right now.
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)
I try to keep an open mind in general, but I guess I don't understand Gilgamesh x Saber (Fate/stay night) at all.
D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t (again: be nice)
None that I can think of. I think in general I'm more likely to just not pay that much attention to pairings I don't like.
L - Say something genuinely nice about a character who isn’t one of your faves (chars you’re neutral on are fair game, as are chars you dislike)
This is surprisingly difficult because I have a lot of characters I'd consider "faves" and also say so many nice things about even characters outside that category that I don't want to just repeat myself.
The simplest thing might be to just say that I like all Touhou characters I know in at least some way.
N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice)
Going to answer this for Tsukihime since it's still consuming my brain months after reading it.
I guess more essays about the characters? I am doing my part since I apparently can't talk about Kohaku without going unhinged.
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)
Well, as said before I try to keep an open mind, formless and adaptable to whatever shape the best available information takes.
So while I have both joke headcanons (Kohaku is an autistic trans girl) and more serious headcanons (Kohaku has some kind of low empathy condition), I still find other perspectives interesting and worth learning from.
W - 5 favorite ships and 5 kinks you like best for said ships
Hm... I don't know that I'm ship-brained enough to even have this many favorite ships easily available in my mental searches.
That said, it is canon that Kohaku is into breastplay and I'm reasonably sure that she's the one who suggested drinking blood from there to Akiha.
Kohaku has also shown a significant interest in roleplay as a general thing and I'm pretty sure that also applies in bed.
Shiki also strikes me as being the calm and submissive type in general, based on the dream scenes.
More controversially, there's the incest.
Y - What are your secondhand fandoms (fandoms you aren’t in personally but are tangentially familiar with because your friends/people on your dash are in them)
I have absorbed some fandom osmosis about Worm, and a lot less about The Locked Tomb and Umineko (which is on my list)...
Other than that I follow a couple of people who are really into a specific thing and post about it a lot but it feels too individual to feel like a secondhand fandom, since they're about the only people I follow who talk about the thing.
Thank you!

Quick Notes: Chapter 247
Let’s go!
My statements stands on Holy. Crazy to think that she’s popular everywhere to this degree. I don’t have a problem with it, though.
Noah saying that Rebecca’s bikini is provocative as if we don’t see Sister in BDSM gear on a constant basis. How do I explain Hiro Mashima to my family?
Someone said it was crazy that Shiki’s more forgiving to the villains than Noah. The thing is that Noah’s caused more of a direct threat to his friends than Drakken and Shura did. Crazy to think that.
Rachel as the Yukino Cosmos Director? Not shocking. Next!
You know what would be crazy? If Couchpo and Lavilia were the villains. I’m getting disappointed by these quick reunions and off-screen memory retrievals, might as well happen.
I’m not shocked that Elsie and Justice- I mean James, are rulers of Lendard and supposedly married. It’s shocking that Elsie’s the Kaede Cosmos director.
Seriously, I’m not going to get used to calling him James.
I’m glad that we’re all on the same page about beating the EZ One VOID. It’s just a crazy that we’re getting closer and farther away from getting to Mother.
It’s crazy to think that Elsie wants her mom to die. At the same time, I’ve read Fairy Tail and I’ve probably spoken too soon about her not being like Erza. (Almost like I need to make a post on that.)
Good to see Andrew’s here. Starting to think that everything up to this universe was a mistake. This is how Mashima should be expected to write. I’m not even sure this is bad writing.
Thank goodness that the EZ Crew ships for Rebecca are meaningfully popular. Imagine if enough fans thought Rebecca should be shipped with Noah. The sad thing is that this isn’t unlikely.
See you!

No. Not yet. Shiki story
DISCLAIMER and its posted on my wattpad so if you find the same story there thats why its also on quotev
This story contains spoilers for the anime!
3 shiki were spared from death however forced to be pretty much slaves for whatever reason they had this is a story that takes place in the last few episodes when the villagers start killing the shiki
Some characters do not belong to me such as
-Sunako Kirishiki
-Seishin Muroi
-Toshio Ozaki
-Megumi Shimizu
There might be more because im planning on using these characters in the story for now the only characters belonging to me are
-Kazuko Koritsu
-Yuuka Fumei
-Kazuko's mother
-Yuuka's aunt
-Izuku R’Marionetta
If I decide to use other characters it will be written on the top start of the chapter because I don't wanna get sued
"So do you like your new job Megumi?" He asked tauntingly, "...." Megumi said nothing. She was in a narrow room, in front of her was a machine, a machine full of red liquid and pieces with a light red color leading into the wall. "This will be your job, think of it as a punishment for killing the innocent" the words fading away the further he walked, the sound of the lock clicking echoing slightly. Megumi punched the wall "A village like this should have never existed, I shouldn't have existed here... I should've been in a big city in the spotlight...so why?.." she cried as she shed a small number of tears. Megumi's job has been assigned as cleaning the machine, keeping it in order, spectating results. She never wanted to do this, being forced with 2 others to be slaves with the threat of a stake through there hearts. The people say they have no one to blame but themselves for being in this situation with the desperation to be alive for a reason or another, begging not to be killed and being taken in as slaves with the hanging threat of the death they desperately wished to escape. However death is inescapable no matter what you do.
.
.
.
"Now listen here Ms. Murderess, your job is to carve the stakes and clean the weapons simple, it should be easy enough for a terrible being as you" said the man, inside a room filled with wood, weapons, knives, baskets, towels, a table with a chair and a sink. "Understood sir.." Kazuko told the man with a slight look of obedience on her face. The man's footsteps could be heard fading as the man walked away and out the door, the sound of the lock closing her in the room with materials which will be used to kill her kind reminded her of how bad her situation really is. Taking a quick look around the room she walked towards the table with the chair and sat on the chair looking around with her head then crossing her arms on the table as she put her head down. A heavy sigh could be heard throughout the room, after a few minutes she decided to grab a few pieces of wood and start carving stakes knowing what would happen if she didn't make a large amount by nightfall.
.
.
.
A female named Yuuka followed a man into a room quietly upon reaching the door and opening it Yuuka was shoved into the room "Get up a creature like you should be able to handle that" the man said as Yuuka silently stood up. "You're assigned to wash the clothes and make sure they're ready for an instant change." Yuuka gave nothing but a silent and small nod the man walked to the door as Yuuka stared at his back the slam of the door was a bit much for her ears as she covered them with her hands for a split second. The sound of the man locking the door from the outside was a terrible sound to her ears, looking around the room she saw a tab with a hand she assumed was for filling the medium size baskets next to it with water, a cabinet containing soap bottles and sponges, next she saw a small board she thought must have been for setting clothes on to rub stains out, afterwards she saw a pair of gloves lying on the top of the cabinet "At least they gave me gloves..." lastly there was a basket full of clothes most were covered in blood, now she saw them she smelt a small amount of blood in the air. She sat down in the corner thinking why she did this to herself.
.
.
.
Outside the female's rooms it was quite social one might even think it was a party....if it weren't for how they were covered in blood enjoying food as if it was a normal day... "Are you sure it was right bringing 3 shiki's and using them as slaves? They could attack us." said a man enjoying his food as if it was a family dinner "Yes if we waste time doing these chores then the shiki will succeed" said Ozaki, the head doctor in the village ironically he is also the leader of the massacre "Bu-" "I checked there files they died nearly 2 weeks ago which means they rose recently and have not drank much blood meaning they are not strong enough and we have the weapons to kill them its fine" said Ozaki cutting off the other man. "We've made progress but is it really enough to win?" thought Ozaki with his head resting on his head on his left hand with his eyes closed, "Ozaki are you feeling well?" asked one of the many men sitting at the table eating the food made by the women also in the underground shelter. "I'm fine don't worry about me, our main focus is eliminating the Shiki.", "It's a hour until morning which means it's time to hunt." as the words left his mouth the men and women rose from the tables going to start the preparations 2 men went to different directions seemingly leading to 3 doors in the back, one in the middle and one to the right.

Weird question here, but I noticed at the start of your snippet that Tsukumo referred to Shiki as a special grade sorcerer despite making it clear that she wasn't classified as one (yet) by the end of the short. Why is that?
You mentioned in an earlier post, the one regarding Shiki versus Upper Moon 2, that Shiki's sorcerer rank is a complicated issue. Based on the tidbits we've collected here she seems qualified for the position even before the "incident," having nearly defeated an entity comparable to special grade curses from an alternate dimension as well as accomplishing a domain expansion, which is referred to as the pinnacle of jujutsu, something Tsukumo seems to acknowledge. Thus, it begs the question why the rest of Jujutsu society hasn't then?
My guess is that it's probably politics at play, not dissimilar to how it is with Mai. After all, the amount of special grade sorcerers in the jujutsu world can be counted on a single hand. If half of those powerful sorcerers were aligned to a single faction I'd imagine it would upset the status quo. So in order to prevent Satoru from gaining even more leverage over the traditional hierarchy, the elders have stonewalled Shiki's promotion to special grade.
However, after the "incident" I'd imagine that all arguments against her promotion have fallen to the wayside since she alongside Satoru nearly destroyed the world. It makes one wonder:
Shiki: You knew this would happen... didn't you?
Satoru: Ehehehe~
Geto: And they think I'm the biggest threat!?
So am I on to something here or have I read too deeply between the lines?
:D
I'm actually bouncing around a little in my seat from excitement over here haha, I didn't really expect anyone to pick it up just yet! And from scattered Tumblr asks and AU mentions, no less. Color me impressed.
We're still a ways off from reaching the questions and particulars regarding Shiki's eventual ranking in zenith of stars, but you are on the right track there haha. If we really think about it -technically Okkotsu is also tangentially tied to the Gojo Clan, being a distant descendant of Michizane... as well as Gojo Satoru's student. So that's already 2/3 Special Grades on the Gojo side, even though at this point Okkotsu's Special Grade status is more of a technicality than anything else. It's still enough to make the elders a little sensitive on this matter haha.
And if you'll recall -Okkotsu's Special Grade status was declared when he was admitted to the jujutsu school, and his lineage was discovered in an investigation afterwards (sometime around the Night Parade incident).
