Happy holidays! Here's the first of my Satinalia series for this year, starting with Bull and Preia. Stay safe and be merry!

Trigger warning for non-death loss of a child.

“I can’t believe she’s finally sleeping. Happy Satinalia to us,” Preia said as she sank onto the plush sofa with a tired sigh. “From now on, we need to limit Uncle Varric’s presents. If we aren’t careful, he’ll get her a puppy next year.” Preia snorted, resting her head against his shoulder.

“My bet’s on pony,” he muttered, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“Cassandra wasn’t much better. ‘Baby’s first practice sword’ looked awfully expensive,” she pointed out.

“She does like to use ‘born during an assassination attempt’ as an excuse to spoil her,” he agreed. “They all do.”

“She’s a lucky little girl.” Preia looked up at him with a smile and he tipped her chin up to kiss her gently. She hummed softly and bit her lip. “Think we have time to take a bath before dinner?”

Bull snorted, then kissed her again. “I’ll suffer Josie’s wrath if we’re late.”

“Good, because I still have a present for you to unwrap.” She pushed herself up off the sofa..

“Is it the same one you get me every year? Because that’s my favorite.” The look he gave her when she glanced over her shoulder at him made her heart flutter.

“Not getting tired of it?” she teased, opening the wardrobe to retrieve the box containing the lacy smalls and matching lingerie she’d gotten for his present this year.

“Fuck no,” he said quickly, “never.”

Just as she got her hand on the package, someone knocked on their door. Bull groaned, head falling back. Preia looked down at the loose shirt and leggings she wore. Figuring they were presentable enough, she opened it to find an apprehensive Josephine.

“Preia, I’m sorry to bother you. A young man just arrived and is demanding to see you but he won’t say who he is.” Realizing she was wringing her hands, she dropped them to her sides. “I can’t even get him to say why he’s here, he just-”

“Preia!” Her name echoed up from the bottom of the stairwell. She inhaled sharply, eyes widening.

“Andraste’s ass, that’s my little brother. Let him up,” she called down and immediately heard footsteps running up the stairwell. “Josie, is it too late to add another setting for dinner?”

Josephine was clearly relieved to find this wasn’t some poor attempt to get the Inquisitors attention, or worse, another attempt on her daughter’s life. “It’s never too late to add a seat for family. I’m sure Cullen’s niece will be thrilled to have someone her age to talk to,” she said with a sly smile. Josephine greeted the teenager when he made it to the top of the stairs, panting. “Young master Trevelyan.”

Pressing a hand to his chest, he bowed. “Lady Montilyet.”

She nodded to Preia and then headed back downstairs. He straightened and threw his arms around her. Still in shock, she returned the embrace. “Maker’s breath, Calder. Why wouldn’t you just tell her who you were? Do you have any idea the type of security we have here? What are you doing here? How did you get here?”

“On a horse.” He pulled away, grinning. Preia was suddenly struck by how much he’d grown since the last time she’d been allowed to see him. Calder was as tall as she was and perhaps even had an inch or so on her. There was no denying they were related with the same red wine stained hair and stormy blue eyes.

“I think she means how you convinced your parents to let you come. Are you by yourself?” Bull asked.

“Bull!” the young man said, clearly excited. They’d met exactly once three years ago when Preia had been forced to return to the Trevelyan estate to tell her parents to stop arranging marriages for her. She’d been disowned completely during that trip upon finding out she’d essentially married a ‘brutish bull man.’ Her brother had been fascinated by her mate and asked endless questions which was to be expected from a sheltered and isolated child.

“I didn’t even ask them. I just came. I’m old enough to be out on my own. Older than you were anyway,” he said to Preia, crossing his arms over his chest. He certainly didn’t look like a child anymore with a fighter’s body and towering height.

“They’re going to be furious.” Preia groaned, running her hands down her face.

“They?! I’m fucking furious!” he blurted out, throwing up his arms. “I thought you stopped writing after the whole Corypheus thing-good job by the way-but they’d figured out how we were communicating and stole the letters. I had to find out from a stable boy that you’d even survived! Our parents wouldn’t say shit, like you didn’t even exist.”

“Shocking.” Preia’s deadpan face made her brother scowl.

“They told me why you ran away,” he said quietly. Preia felt the blood drain from her face. “Not directly, but I’m not stupid.”

“Fuck,” Bull said from the sofa, shifting forward to rest his elbows against his knees. “You okay, kadan?”

She nodded dumbly, locking her knees to keep them from shaking. “What did they say?”

“I told them there was this girl I liked, but they forbade me from even talking to her because her ‘station’ wasn’t good enough.” He said the word ‘station’ with a mocking tone, rolling his eyes. “I guess I was talking back too much because mother suddenly shouted that she raised me better than you and she wasn’t going to get rid of another bastard child.”

Preia drew in a shaky breath. She jumped, startled, when Bull’s hand landed on her shoulder. He squeezed gently, lending his reassuring presence. Calder looked sad, and a little guilty, at her reaction.

“That’s when I realized how fucking terrible they really were. I asked more about it but mother just ignored me and father told me to drop it. I thought you left because they have unreasonable rules and expectations. But that? I was so mad I had to leave and come find you. I have to know if it was true. Did you have a baby?” he asked hesitantly. “Did they-did they take it from you?”

Her throat was so tight she couldn’t speak so she just nodded.

“I fucking knew it!” he raged, hands clenched into white-knuckled fists.

“I’m sorry,” Preia managed to murmur.

“Why?” His brows furrowed and some of his anger melted away. “It’s not like you incited a rebellion or started a war with Tevinter. Having a baby outside of marriage isn’t some grave sin, unless you’re maybe a princess or something. We’re just a middle-of-the-road house in one state of the Free Marches. At best, it’s a mistake or poor judgment. It isn’t a character flaw that could possibly warrant having your-” he stopped, chest heaving with every angry breath.

“Maker-damned pieces of shit! I’m never going back there. I don’t care if they disown me too. If I stayed, it would be like condoning what they did. I’d rather be exiled with you. They don’t deserve either of us. Fuck ‘em.” Calder took a deep breath, frowning.

“Agreed,” Bull mumbled, squeezing her shoulder again.

Calder saw the tears in her eyes and his shoulders dropped. “I’m so sorry…I should have waited to talk to you about that. I’ve been so mad. Absolutely fuming the whole trip here. I didn’t mean to ruin your Satinalia.”

“Oh, Cal, you didn’t!” She threw her arms around him again. “I’ve spent so many nights wondering if I should have taken you out of there. I’ve been waiting for the day I would be able to see you again, whenever we wanted. It just came sooner than I thought.”

“Does that mean I can stay with you and Bull?” he asked against her shoulder.

“Absolutely,” Bull answered when Preia wasn’t able to immediately. A sudden cry came from the nursery. Calder straightened, looking between them, jaw dropping. “I’ll get her,” Bull said, kissing her temple.

“Who’s that?” Calder looked at Preia in surprise. She was smiling again, glancing over her shoulder as Bull emerged from the side room with their daughter. “You had a baby?!” he exclaimed, excitedly holding out his arms. Bull handed her over and the toddler looked up at him in wonder.

“She’ll be two in the spring. I wrote about her, but I guess that was after they found the letters. Her name is Nyx.”

She had her father’s gray skin, though it was a bit paler and had more of a lilac hue. She also had his black hair, with two darker spots on her head where her horns would eventually grow. As Nyx looked up at her uncle, he grinned. “She’s got our eyes.”

“Sure does,” Bull said with a chuckle. “Pretty like her mom too.”

“I get to be an uncle for Satinalia!” He was so elated, Preia was finally able to relax. The brother she adored hadn’t been swayed by her parents' hate. He didn’t judge her for the mistakes of her youth. She certainly had no inclination to send him home. Calder was right, he was old enough to make his own decisions and she was overwhelmed with joy that his choice was to get to know her.

“I just have one more question,” he said, without looking up from Nyx who was giggling happily.

Preia leaned against Bull who wrapped his arm around her and squeezed her tight against him. “What’s that?” she asked, smiling.

“Can you tell me more about this niece of Cullen’s?”

Cursed child bootleg

Does anyone have a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child bootleg of the Melbourne cast with Nyx Calder as Scorpius Malfoy and Ben Walter as Albus Potter. Gifting would be appreciated but I am willing to pay, I have been looking for this for ages and since the Melbourne production is ending soon I want to be able to see it again.

Any other versions with Brady Dalton-Richards or Jonathan Case would be appreciated as well.

The Melbourne production returned again to stage last year on November 18, 2021 and went on as usual until March 27, 2022.

May 4, 2022 marked the start of the new format of the show in Australia, following the change in the US production in 2021, where the two-part play was condensed into 1!

The main cast remains mostly the same but was joined by a new Draco. Fancy new character portraits were released, photographed by John Tsiavis!

The Year 2 Australia Scorpious is being played by a gender non-conforming person and I love it so much.

**Edit: I originally referred to Nyx has “gender non-conforming” but I believe the proper term would be non-binary! In their bio they refer to themselves as “Transgender, non-binary, queer.” And I love them for it and hope they are doing well!!
