Warnings: strong language, Drefan being an asshole but what’s new, angsty
Be Ruthless Masterlist II Vikings Masterlist

Drefan had summoned you to the throne room the next morning. This is actually the first time you’ve been ‘summoned by the king’ because whatever your brother had to say to you he would always find a way to catch you in your chambers. When you were alone. So, being ‘summoned’ terrified you to the core.
Thankfully, the mark across you cheek had faded slightly overnight and now made it appear as if you had a small blush crossing your cheeks. No cloak needed to hide the evidence of assault to your face which you would end by having to lie about. Every lie about every bruise on your body ended up making you look like the fool by saying that you are just a clumsy girl who trips over her own feet.
Reaching the throne room, it became clear why Drefan made no attempt to converse with you in your chambers. He was discussing plans with his advisors who all shut their mouths the moment you set foot in the room. Your brother’s eyes glance up at you and he leans back in his seat, waving off the people around him.
With the power behind that one flick of his wrist, he manages to clear the entire room, leaving you alone with him. Not even Aleister was allowed to stay, which gave you some kind of relief. But even though you wouldn’t endure his physical assault brought on by another man, you are certain that Drefan has a few words up his sleeves that will have the same sort of effect.
Staring at you for a second, you shift in your spot in front of your brother, feeling small under his menacing glare towards you. “Where were you last night?” he finally questions, resting his elbow on the armrest of his throne as you glance up at him in confusion. “You weren’t in your chambers. So, where were you?” You only keep your head high in the air as you stare at him, no words forming on your lips which, in turn, makes him sigh and stand from his seat.
“I send Sir Aleister to check on you last night,” he starts to explain, stepping towards with his hands folded behind his back. “Only to have him return to inform me that you weren’t there,” he states, standing beside you before leaning down to your ear. “So, tell me, dear sister. Where were you?”
Your heart pounds in your chest as you slowly turn your gaze up to him. “I know very well that you didn’t send Sir Aleister to just ‘check on me’, brother,” you timidly sneer, though you keep the anger out of your voice to avoid possible bad endeavors. “And I will not tell you where I was last night. Not even if you had a thousand suns burn down on my skin,” you whisper, this time letting out a bit of your anger.
Drefan smirks at you, amusement playing in his eyes as he turns to walk back to his throne. “Still such sharp words on that tongue,” he chuckles, turning around to face you and he takes his mighty seat again. “I am surprised that it’s still there after so many years of me trying to get that trait out of you. You won’t last a day in the Heathen’s land with that mouth of yours,” he taunts, leaning against the arm of the seat as he smirks evilly at you. “Unless it’s wrapped around a cock, that is.”
Cringing at his words, your eyes fall to your hands folded in front of you. “I didn’t think you would care how long I will survive in their country,” you say, glancing at him through your eyelashes.
He laughs loudly at your words, making your head lift entirely up at him as he shakes his head. “You stupid girl, of course, I care about your survival there,” he bellows, a wicked smile spread across his face. “How else am I to spread my kingdom across the seas without making a few sacrifices?”
Sacrifices? Marrying you to a Viking is a sacrifice? Shaking your head, you stare down at the floor beneath your feet. “I don’t understand,” you mutter to yourself.
“Which is why you will listen to me and my orders,” he states, standing from his seat again when your words reach his ears. “Like I said; I don’t care what you have to do to keep that heathen king happy but you will do it. You will make this marriage last and you will keep him on my side,” he demands, taking a step closer to you. “I’m sure that there are some dark secrets you have that you would like to keep hidden, sister,” he sneers, grabbing your face in his hand to make you look up at him. “And if you cooperate and obey me, I won’t tell your future husband about them.”
Pulling our face out of his grip, you glare coldly at him as your jaw clenches. “Don’t think that just because you’re sailing off to a new land means that you’ll be free of me,” he states, walking back away from you as you let out a shaky sigh. “They leave when the sun rises tomorrow. See to it that you are on one of those ships or I will,” he demands, your heart dropping to your stomach at the suddenness of the event.
Shaking your head, you steady yourself as you glance back up at him. “You won’t want to see me married here?”
“Let them do their heathen rituals on their own land,” he scoffs, throwing a hand up in the air as he turns back around to you. “I will have men travel with you to ensure that you go through with the wedding. To make sure you don’t get cold feet,” he states, smirking at you as you lower your gaze again.
When he doesn’t say anything after that, you sigh out in sadness. “Will that be all, brother?” you question, knowing that there’s no use in fighting him. You’re powerless against his word and you know that every time you try and fight it, something bad will happen. It always does.
He simply lets out a grunt as you hear him sit down and you begin to walk away. “One more thing,” he calls out before you reach the door causing you to freeze in your spot. “Make him believe you’re a virgin. I hear they get a sense of pride knowing that they’ve taken a woman’s maidenhood,” he states, a shiver running down your spine as you feel his eyes burn into your back. “And it will make him feel more bonded to you believing that he deflowered you instead of someone else,” he sneers, tearing his eyes away from your back. “If that seems like a hard task, just act as if you’ve never had someone’s prick inside of you.”
Not being able to hear another word from his mouth, you quickly make your way out the throne room and down the halls before anyone can stop the tears welling up in your eyes. As you walk, your footsteps echo off the walls as the nightmares you’ve tried so hard to forget play over and over in your mind. The words ‘Slut’, ‘Whore’, and ‘Bitch’ all float around your mind and are words that you have heard come from your brother’s mouth.
The nightmares in your mind all come from a toxic memory. One that you pray you could just burn in the fireplace like you did with that crucifix that hung up on your wall. Instead, the guilt and shame from the memory burn through your veins and mind like acid making tears fall from your cheeks. It wasn’t what you wanted and yet it still happened. And no one believed a word you said. Like always.
This part just pounced into my mind while I was trying to sleep and I had to write it down before I forgot it XD

Black Sails 4.05 Watch Notes
AKA I feel at this point everyone just needs a good wash and a shave.
- Oh Billy. Billy Billy Billy. I just don’t think you’re seeing the wood for the trees. I mean, what does he plan on doing about the slave rebellion?
- Then there’s Madi speaking sense.  Sooner or later, Billy or Flint is going to have to go because if not they will just keep on butting heads.
“You sound exactly like him.” <3
I think John was hoping Madi would make the decision easier or help him decide what to do because he’s going to have to betray one friend.
“Would I be enough for you?” *cries*
Oh god the way Madi looks away, then Silver gets all flustered, says something trivial and leaves. He’s so damn insecure...
It must be a point of insecurity for him, that Madi is with him only because of the story built up around him, or because of the war they’re fighting, to strengthen trust and alliance etc. So he asks her, would I be enough for you?
I don’t want to say we’re being led to Madi leaving Silver to join/help the slaves rebellion… but I just don’t know…. Say they were defeated, and left to be on their way, would she really stay with John? Does she love him enough to let it all go? Like I said I don’t necessarily want this to happen, I don’t want Madi to betray him or anything like that…
It’s just we know it’s all going to go wrong at some point. This is a tragedy. We know that the pirates don’t win, that they don’t change the world… Watching this show is like waiting for something to go wrong xD
- Is that Meditations that Flint is reading? The binding/size looks the same… I think maybe Flint keeps it on him and reads it when he needs reassurance, that’s the only way it could be with him when he goes into the fort. I it because Silver planted the seed in Flint’s head about Thomas possibly still being alive? Stop breaking my heart James!!
- Oh Eleanor, once again I cannot feel sorry for you. You’re complaining about Mr. Scott working behind your back?? I get where you’re coming from about being manipulated by the men around you and feeling as if you can’t trust anyone, but like?? There’s a reason you gained a reputation for betraying those closest to you…
Haha Flint gets the last line in though!! Eleanor needs a good truth bomb dropped on her head… you think that Rogers is any better? You think you are any better?
- Speaking of Woodes dickface Rogers, I’m having fun ignoring his stupid speeches in favour of planning out how he will die, and who gets to do it…
Wait I thought he told Jack he was rubbish at Spanish?
I will give him credit that he does know how to play people though…
- THE WALRUS LIVES!!! That’s all I need say on the matter.
- I’m torn because BILLY, you were Silver’s friend, and I do believe you still see him as such… but having said that, there is an element of ‘i’m using you to my own ends’ in Billy’s speech. I think saying “you’re everything I hoped you’d be” is a wrong move because it makes it sound like Billy is controlling Silver like a puppet. And this is something Silver picks up on.
“You want them following me only to the extent that I in turn, I will follow you.”
Billy’s been so hard trying to convince Silver that Flint is the enemy that he’s pushing Silver further away.
Oh so Billy doesn’t care about the alliance with the slaves… so what does he think their anger will just go away? Billy thinks they’ve already won, I think he’s got a bit drunk on that knowledge, a bit drunk on the power that has been afforded to him. And he’s making the mistake of thinking that he’s got Silver on side…
- OH MY POOR DEVILISH SON, he didn’t sign up for any of this. Bless he just wants a nap and not have to decide the fate of hundreds (thousands maybe) of lives.
Silver: I want to be alone. Israel: *stares*
Until recently you say??? Is that because Billy has gone against Flint or because Flint is now a closer friend to you than Billy ever was? Hmm??
Israel Hands dropping some truth bombs on Silver! Just fucking choose!! And that he will, I’m sure. Probably with a great deal of pain like…
- Ignoring Rogers’ face once again to focus on how pretty the lighting is in this room… Though a little improbable? There’s a few guys off to the side reading charts like… the light is so dim in here how are you getting any work done?
So it’s not the first time Rogers has killed people under a white flag… he’s a nasty sonofagun isn’t he…
Burn it all to the ground? Oh no. God this is like Eleanor’s worst nightmare happening all over again - this is pretty much everything Eleanor is trying to avoid happening again. At least this may allow her to see the truth of who Rogers really is?
- JOHN YOU WOULDN’T. YOU. WOULDN’T. IS THIS HOW HE AND FLINT FALL OUT? I DON’T WANT IT. If John betrays Flint like this I will not be able to take it.
ARHHH that forehead kiss! Wait did Silver just whisper something to Madi? what are you planning son… what are you planning….
- “I’m not concerned.” <3 Because you lurrrrrvvveee him.
- My heart is in my mouth tough right now…I can’t… Stop cutting between Billy and Flint, I can’t take the tension!!
Arhh I knew you wouldn’t betray him!! Haha Billy that’s what you get for trying to bend Silver to your will!
But wait… you can’t kill Billy, he’s in TI
*side note*: This is one of the things I’ve said before I love about Black Sails... leaving the reveal right up until the very end, not letting the audience know what’s going on until it’s already happened. They did it with Mr. Dobbs in s3 and until the last minute I genuinely thought Dobbs had betrayed them xD
Ohh the way Silver says “do it.” me: Yessir. Right away sir *fans self*
*Spanish fleet approaches Nassau* OH SHIT. OH SHIT THAT’S A LOT OF SHIPS. HOW ARE THEY POSSIBLY GOING TO DEFEAT THEM??
*watching the trailer for next week*
I’m thinking now if the Spanish raid the town… Then Eleanor is safe, Flint is safe. Madi is with Flint, so safe. Max appears to be safe as she’s with Eleanor. Jack and Anne also presumably safe because they’re away from the conflict with the others on the Walrus and the ship they took over. Even Billy is hidden away on the Underhill estate.
So that leaves Israel, Silver and what’s left of our pirates to bear the brunt of the fight.
*breathes in*
ARHHHHGHHH LEAVE SILLVER ALONE ALREADY!!!
Though all will be forgiven if Rogers and Silver can interact and actually hold a conversation. That would be a lot of fun to see.
*whispers* and I needn't fear for John’s life cos I know he survives tehe…
