What order to listen to the 8th Doctor Big Finish Audio Drama

So I've seen lots of people asking what order to listen to the 8th Doctor audio dramas produced by Big Finish. There are some really good listening guides out there, but they're out of date.

So I present to you the 2024 8th Doctor Episode Chronology!

If you love the 8th Doctor or want to explore his stories but have no idea where to start, this is the list for you!

This is a living document. I haven't listened to everything yet, so some bits may need editing. It follows 8's personal timeline from his travels with Charley Pollard to his experiences in the Time War.

Doctor Who Main Range: The Sirens of Time (1)

That's it. Here we are. I'm starting to catch up on old Doctor Who extended universe. Starting with this renowned story from the Main Range from Big Finish for Doctor Who.

I was expecting a lot, since I have been waiting for years to listen to this one and I wasn't even disappointed. The story is very well built. Each Doctor having his own trip before reuniting worked really well and served the plot perfectly. I was aware that this was going to be the chosen organisation but I didn't expect it to be that well coordinated. The plot is solid and the twist is not that easy to guess if you're not paying attention to the credits. Otherwise, this and the title to the audio kind of give it all.

Considering the acting, it was great of course. I cannot even begin to imagine how it must have felt for fans to hear Davison, Baker and McCoy back in 1999!

I loved this from start to finish and cannot recommend it enough.

some things about s2 doctor who confidential + david tennant's video diary

mvp of season 2 goes to nicholas briggs for voicing all the daleks and cybermen (as he did in s1 and continued until today -- also judoon, jagrafess, zygons, nestene consciousness, ice warriors)

also at this point need to shout out to everyone who got stuffed inside a robot suit -- first actually to the guy who played the ann-droid back in s1, but my goodness did the cybermen do a lot of fun background choreography work to become uniform, led by a very small delightful movement teacher

goooosh the whole bits about the last couple of episodes -- the emotions everyone's going through, especially with regards to billie piper of course. quite happy they cut almost immediately post-filming the goodbye scene, because I heard she wasn't doing too great for a bit, and yeah, that performance was Intense. would have liked to have heard some final words on her part on the experience of doctor who, but that's me wanting more billie

last actual filmed episode was satan pit and the last two scenes filmed was the doctor and rose reuniting in the TARDIS and then "who are you?" "oh... the stuff of legends." -- followed by "that's a wrap" and billie and david immediately hugging each other very very hard :(((

ofc I also heard the rtd let her know early on that she was coming back for s4

very sweet to see the david tennant video diary for season 2 and him being a tad nervous about how people will feel about his portrayal -- flash forward 17 years and....

julie gardner talking about first meeting to develop torchwood, and how she right off the bat went, "right, the things we need to establish is how much violence and nudity we're going to do" because it was totally untrod ground until now

Do you ever think about how much weight Nicholas Briggs had to pull in Doomsday. Delivering iconic lines as both the Cyberman AND the Daleks. The entire sass off between them, all Nicholas Briggs. That man deserves way more credit.

"DAY OF THE DAUGHTERS" RELEASE DATE SET FOR FEBRUARY!

Back in May 2023, Ian Kubiak kindly allowed us to film a brand-new documentary at CYGNUS ALPHA's hugely successful SPEARHEAD 2 event ... held at Wood Norton in Evesham.

DAY OF THE DAUGHTERS stars DAISY ASHFORD and SADIE MILLER, chatting to NICHOLAS BRIGGS about their mothers and what it has been like reimagining for BIG FINISH the characters CAROLINE JOHN and ELISABETH SLADEN created in DOCTOR WHO.

Filmed by ROB THRUSH, this really is another unique documentary from REELTIME. My very grateful thanks to SADIE, DAISY and NICK for such an honest and revealing conversation.

At NICK's suggestion, I then was privileged to attend the BIG FINISH studio recording of the upcoming Third Doctor story REVOLUTION IN SPACE, where I not only filmed cutaway shots for DAY OF THE DAUGHTERS, but also filmed and edited the promotional video of the audio drama for BIG FINISH.

Both titles will be released in February ... stay tuned for the date soon!
