Look up (Vessel B&W) - Hudson Yards, New York City by Andreas Komodromos

The Vessel is a structure and landmark which was built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project in Manhattan, New York City, New York. Construction began in April 2017; it opened on March 15, 2019.

Designed by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick, the elaborate honeycomb-like structure rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings for visitors to climb. Vessel is the main feature of the 5-acre (2.0 ha) Hudson Yards Public Square.

National Egg Cream Day

National Egg Cream Day is a celebration of the American Soda Fountain the delicacies that can only be had at one. Whether it is a Rickey, a Lime Fizz, and Egg Cream or any one of hundreds of local and regional delicacies that can only be found at a true soda fountain, National Egg Cream day celebrates them all.

Since its invention in New York City during the late 1800's the Egg Cream has been a traditional drink of the American Soda Fountain.

Despite it's name, this drink made of U-Bet Chocolate syrup, Milk and Seltzer drink contains no egg and no cream. The original of the drink and its name is shrouded in mystery. Although there are only three ingredients, techniques vary tremendously and are one of the secrets kept by a master Soda Jerk.

This drink is elusive and ephemeral due to its very nature. It must be enjoyed within minutes of its creation or it falls flat. Add to that, the current rarity of a true soda fountain. Without this specialized equipment and the skills of a Soda Jerk, a proper egg cream just can not be made.

The drink originated in 19th century New York City, and there are many stories about how it's name came to be. Some say it originally contained an egg. Others say it comes from the yiddish word "Echt" which means real or good cream. Still others say it was the product of a New York accent, turing a french drink name, "chocolate et creme" into a "Chocolate Egg Cream." No matter why its name came to be, the egg cream is a tradition of the American Soda Fountain that still lives around the country.

no like when I say any answer on the queerest city poll that’s not San Fran is wrong I mean it is factually and historically WRONG

#just. look at the history of lgbt rights and major events in queer history in the us #and I’m telling you it is. in fact. dominated by San Francisco #the other cities that contend for the most part are major us cities that contend simply because they are big and/or heavily populated #like yeah obviously dense cities are going to have a higher number of people in various demographics. im thinking mostly about nyc and #Chicago here for the most part #San Fran is not big. it’s dense but not nearly an nyc level population especially historically.#it’s very unique for having been a safehaven for queers for a long time in comparison to the rest of the country #now I am not. by any means. defending it on every front. or considering it superior in any other way basically. I am SOLELY talking about #it’s unrivaled huge and powerful and long-standing queer community #it is- in the present day- literally almost impossible to live in San Francisco. period. it is absurdly expensive.#it’s homelessness situation especially due to the insane cost of living and there takeover of tech companies and so on #is horrific and for no damn reason (the city has enough money to house people Easily through at LEAST the heavy tourism)#the queer COMMUNITY there is what’s important and it’s history of demanding rights and generally flourishing through their own efforts #anyway idk why I felt the need to ramble about this #actually yes I do it’s becuase I think a lot of younger queer people (or queer people who grew up in isolated or conservative areas don’t #know the history associated with San Francisco and why people regard it as being so fundamentally queer #like the fact that portland is in second on that poll- and this is coming from someone who likes portland overall- is so weird to me #it’s a very progressive place but boy it ain’t got the influence and history that San Fran- or even New York or chicago- have #again it’s hard to compare those big big cities to anything but nonetheless #tangential but. sacramento is also a queer-dense city and though we are small and not nearly as flashy as the other contenders it’s worth #noting I think for being more of a safehaven than people tend to think about #anyway. that’s nothing I just had to represent for a second #kibumblabs

Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup

The best comfort food on a fall/winter day. The soup is spiced with Chinese five spice and it has the perfect flavor that is not too spicy. The scallions add an allium bite. There are huge pieces of beef that is tender and fall right off the bone.

Flat White

The best alternative to an Americano that is not too bitter/acidic. There is not too much steamed milk and the flavor is still silky. It is easy to drink and the caffeine count is not too high. But, the coffee art is beautiful.

Soup Dumplings

They are usually referred to as the little pocket of joy. As the name states, there is soup in the dumpling shell. The flavor is umami and it is important to air out the dumpling before consuming or you will burn your entire mouth! The best added condiments to the dumplings are pickled ginger and black vinegar.

Pan Fried Seafood Noodles

The crunch of these egg noodles are the best. They are fried and slathered with a seafood stir fry surrounding Chinese Broccoli. The dish is originally from Hong Kong and served in many Cantonese/Chinese gatherings with family and friends.

Shaved Ice

A hidden secret that is very well liked on the West coast especially Hawaii. The texture is like snow and doused with fruit syrups that have a sweet flavor. The sweetness is not sickly and the fresh fruit is a good addition. My favorite is always mango and strawberry!

Poke

Another item that is favored on the West Coast and is competitive to sushi. Poke is a type of sashimi dish that is usually made from tuna or salmon. It is usually cured with some soy sauce or shoyu. It can be made for lunch or dinner and be eaten anytime of the year. The best toppings to a Poke bowl consists of seaweed salad, cucumbers, radish, pineapple, roe, and sriracha mayo sauce.
