Nehemiah Dedicates the Wall
27 Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and singing, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps. 28 And the sons of the singers gathered together from the countryside around Jerusalem, from the villages of the Netophathites, 29 from the house of Gilgal, and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves villages all around Jerusalem. 30 Then the priests and Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, the gates, and the wall.
31 So I brought the leaders of Judah up on the wall, and appointed two large thanksgiving choirs. One went to the right hand on the wall toward the Refuse Gate. 32 After them went Hoshaiah and half of the leaders of Judah, 33 and Azariah, Ezra, Meshullam, 34 Judah, Benjamin, Shemaiah, Jeremiah, 35 and some of the priests’ sons with trumpets—Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph, 36 and his brethren, Shemaiah, Azarel, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethanel, Judah, and Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God. And Ezra the scribe went before them. 37 By the Fountain Gate, in front of them, they went up the stairs of the City of David, on the stairway of the wall, beyond the house of David, as far as the Water Gate eastward.
38 The other thanksgiving choir went the opposite way, and I was behind them with half of the people on the wall, going past the Tower of the Ovens as far as the Broad Wall, 39 and above the Gate of Ephraim, above the Old Gate, above the Fish Gate, the Tower of Hananel, the Tower of the Hundred, as far as the Sheep Gate; and they stopped by the Gate of the Prison.
40 So the two thanksgiving choirs stood in the house of God, likewise I and the half of the rulers with me; 41 and the priests, Eliakim, Maaseiah, Minjamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets; 42 also Maaseiah, Shemaiah, Eleazar, Uzzi, Jehohanan, Malchijah, Elam, and Ezer. The singers sang loudly with Jezrahiah the director.
43 Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard afar off.
Temple Responsibilities
44 And at the same time some were appointed over the rooms of the storehouse for the offerings, the firstfruits, and the tithes, to gather into them from the fields of the cities the portions specified by the Law for the priests and Levites; for Judah rejoiced over the priests and Levites who ministered. 45 Both the singers and the gatekeepers kept the charge of their God and the charge of the purification, according to the command of David and Solomon his son. 46 For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chiefs of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving to God. 47 In the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah all Israel gave the portions for the singers and the gatekeepers, a portion for each day. They also consecrated holy things for the Levites, and the Levites consecrated them for the children of Aaron. — Nehemiah 12:27-47 | New King James Version (NKJV) The Holy Bible; New King James Version®. E PROPHET ZECHARIAH (ZAKHARIAH) THE SICKLE-SEER FROM AMONGST THE 12MINOR PROPHETS (520 BC)
Tumblr media
The Prophet Zachariah the Sickle-Seer the eleventh of the twelve Minor Prophets. He was descended from the tribe of Levi, and seems to have been a priest (Nehemiah 12:4,16). He was called to prophetic service at a young age and became, in the wondrous expression of church hymnology, “a spectator of supra-worldly visions.”
The Book of the Prophet Zachariah contains inspired details about the coming of the Messiah (Zach 6:12); about the last days of the Savior’s earthly life, about the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem on a young donkey (Zach 9:9); about the betrayal of the Lord for thirty pieces of silver and the purchase of the potter’s field with them (Zach 11:12-13); about the piercing of the Savior’s side (Zach 12:10); about the scattering of the apostles from the Garden of Gethsemane (Zach 13:7); about the eclipse of the sun at the time of the Crucifixion (Zach 14:6-7).
“Enlightened by dawnings all above,” the Prophet Zachariah, “saw the future as it were the present.” According to Tradition, this “most true God-proclaimer” lived to old age and was buried near Jerusalem, beside his illustrious contemporary and companion, the Prophet Haggai (December 16). The title “Sickle-Seer” given Zachariah comes from a vision in which he saw a sickle flying in the air, destroying thieves and perjurors (Zach 5:1-3).
The holy Prophet Zachariah died around 520 B.C. His tomb was discovered in 415 in a village near Eleutheropolis (Sozomen, Hist. Eccles. VI:32, IX:17). At the prophet’s feet was the body of a child dressed in royal accouterments. His holy relics were transferred to the church of Saint James the Brother of the Lord (October 23) in Constantinople.

1 PETER 4:1-11
1Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. 3 For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles-when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries. 4 In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. 5 They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. 8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for "love will cover a multitude of sins." 9 Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
MARK 12:28-37
28 Then one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, "Which is the first commandment of all?" 29 Jesus answered him, "The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. 30 'And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.' This is the first commandment. 31 And the second, like it, is this: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these. 32 So the scribe said to Him, "Well said, Teacher. You have spoken the truth, for there is one God, and there is no other but He. 33 And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. 34 Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." But after that no one dared question Him. 35 Then Jesus answered and said, while He taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? 36 For David himself said by the Holy Spirit:'The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." ' 37 Therefore David himself calls Him 'Lord'; how is He then his Son? And the common people heard Him gladly.

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla.–The family of a man who was brutally betrayed by his own employer remains unable to heal through the grieving process as relatives prepare for the killer’s sentencing hearing.
Daniel Triplett, the white owner of a septic tank installation company and a former Guthrie City Councilman, faces life in prison after he was convicted for the murder and corpse desecration of Brent Mack, who is Black.
“I think it’s too good for him. I asked for the death penalty,” Troy Franklin Smith, the brother of Brent Mack and Tulsa fire captain, told The Black Wall Street Times on Tuesday.
Triplett faces a sentencing hearing on Friday, June 16 at 9:00 a.m. in front of Logan County Judge Phillip C. Corley, according to court documents. Triplett also faces a wrongful death lawsuit from the Mack family.
Family stays 10 toes down for justice for Brent Mack
What 50-year-old Brent Mack thought would be his final day working for Triplett turned out to be his final day drawing breath. Despite telling authorities that he had fired Mack and given him a $1,000 severance package, video footage at a home where the pair were installing a septic tank showed both men going down into a hole. Only one came out.
Smith described his brother Mack as a man who was passionate about everything he did, including supporting his family, but most of all his grandkids.
Tumblr media
Unwilling to let his murder go unpunished, Mack’s family has remained determined to see a semblance of justice.
“Triplett thought Brent Mack was a nobody. He didn’t realize Brent Mack had a family that loved him,” Justice for Greenwood and civil rights attorney Damario Solomon-Simmons told The Black Wall Street Times on Tuesday.
No time to grieve, Brent Mack family had to fight for justice
Mack’s daughter first reported Brent missing on Sept. 29, 2021, after not seeing or hearing from him for nine days. The investigation quickly led local authorities to question his former employer and prominent city leader, Daniel Triplett, who told police he had fired Mack on Sept. 20, the last day Mack’s daughter had heard from him.
Triplett said he’d dropped Mack off at a laundromat, but surveillance footage showed he never stopped there.
A search of Triplett’s home led authorities to a work log, which detailed the last septic tank installation job the pair had done together.
Video footage at the home showed that while both men went down into the hole, Mack never again appeared on camera. State anthropologists eventually dug up the hole and discovered Mack’s body. They were able to identify him through the wallet in his pocket.
“What they did to Brent Mack is what the folks in McCurtain County wanted to do,” attorney Solomon-Simmons said, referring to a state and federal investigation into the McCurtain County Sheriff Kevin Clardy and other officials who were recorded discussing plans to kill a journalist, bury his body in a hole and their desire to lynch Black people.
One of the journalists who recorded the racist conversation detailed how he fears for the safety of his family as the sheriff remains in office.
Meanwhile, the judge’s leniency toward Daniel Triplett throughout the trial process proved painful for a family seeking justice.
Septic Tank killer Daniel Triplett violated his bond three times
The murder of Brent Mack first drew national attention after the judge overseeing his bond hearing approved a $500,000 bond, half of the typical $1 million for capital murder cases. Unapologetically showcasing white privilege, Special Judge Susan Worthington cited Triplett’s work in the community as a former city councilor and businessman as justification for a lower bond.
“She didn’t take into account our feelings that our loved one was shot in the back and buried in the hole,” Smith said.
Pouring salt on an open wound, Judge Worthington at first took no action after Triplett violated his bond three times. Only after the Oklahoma NAACP, Black Lives Matter Oklahoma, and attorney Solomon-Simmons expressed public outrage did Judge Worthington revoke Triplett’s bond.
“The judge had several other murder cases she denied bond to. On a capital murder charge she set his bail at half the maximum. Two slaps in the face. She didn’t give him the full amount,” Smith added.
Yet he said his family gained a bit of relief after the guilty verdict was announced on April 26.
“The jury only deliberated for about 2 hours. Dan Triplett was very arrogant on the stand.  That’s why we’re asking for our judge on Friday to take the recommendation from the jury and provide a life without parole sentence,” attorney Solomon-Simmons said.

Line Upon Line Lesson 008: God Never Forgets
Genesis 8:1 - Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.
‭Was God so focused on destroying the world with the flood, He forgot about Noah and all the animals on the ark?  What are we to make of this Bible verse?
Let’s read together Deuteronomy 4:31; Psalm 9:12; Isaiah 49:15; and Hebrews 6:10.
The Bible clearly states that God does not forget, whether it’s covenants He made or people. If anything, people are the ones who forget about God.  So, what does Genesis 8:1 mean?
Let’s read together Genesis 19:29; Genesis 30:22; Exodus 32:13; Job 14:13; and Psalm 132:1.
When God remembers someone, it is usually in the context of taking action and showing mercy to that individual.  God never forgot Noah.  God personally closed the ark (Genesis 7:16).  It was God’s power that protected the ark from a cataclysmic flood that destroyed virtually all of humanity and literally reshaped the earth.  In fact, God ended the flood and made the water slowly subside.  He wanted to make sure the ark and its inhabitants safely landed aground.
Let’s read together Nehemiah 1:5; Psalm 25:7; Isaiah 30:8; and Ephesians 2:4.
Genesis 8:1 is not an example of a wrathful God who forgot Noah.  Rather, it is a subtle reminder that love and mercy are a part of God’s character.

Be strong in the Lord–through His power, not our own
We can only be strong through the strength and power we have through Christ. Our own strength will falter and fall short, but when we rely on the strength and might of the Lord, we will be able to stand against the schemes of the enemy.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. (Isaiah 40:29)
The joy of the Lord is our strength. (Nehemiah 8:10)
The Lord arms us with strength and keeps our ways secure. (Psalm 18:32)
Praise God that we can rely on His strength to fight our battles!

Yahweh was and is an anthropologically complex god who could be very violent.
The Old Testament god was also a warrior god who could have been a ruthless general who committed his fair share of atrocities.
It is not intellectually honest to say that he was a god who was always devoted to peace.
He was a very violent deity.
More than many others.
But some considerations need to be made.
The bible does not speak of slavery but of servitude.
Two things that are different.
The bible also the old testament was with exodus 21:16 expressly forbids kidnapping a human and selling him.
That slavery / servitude allowed to Israel as well as being regulated to be much less violent and give many rights to the servant, who was mostly either a war booty or a criminal, has a well-defined time limit.
See Exodus 21: 2.
And of course there were exceptions as seen in exodus 21: 5-6 but they were voluntary exceptions where the servant for whatever reason decided to stay.
Not only was biblical servitude temporary and limited to 6 years but also weekly total rest was granted for all see Deuteronomy 5: 12-14
The bible also grants rights that did not exist in other cultures and are unlikely to exist afterwards.
For example as seen in Exodus 21: 26-27 a slave / servant who suffers permanent damage is released and if he is killed the offender must be tried as seen in Exodus 21:20.
According to soothing 25: 42-43 and talmud kiddushkn 20a the servants are not to be treated harshly and are to eat the same food as the master, enjoy the same comforts and reside in the same type of dwelling.
It was a type of servitude limited to prisoners and even then they are servants with enormous rights whose freedom is given in time for a maximum of 6 years.
Even female servitude and the situation of women were highly regulated in a positive way just see Exodus 21:11.
Which governs legal provisions to protect women from abuses that were widely granted according to ancient traditions.
It is certainly not a positive model or an ideal situation.
But it was an unpleasant situation that needed to be adjusted.
And even then it was a rare situation due to unpleasant circumstances such as economic disaster as seen in Kiddushin 20a and even then as seen in Nehemiah 5: 6-12 it was a situation that showed great indignation and in the nehemia texts urges the magistrates to condone the debts of the poor.
Of course there are exceptions and according to Levititicus 27: 28-29 there is talk of immolating men and women but there is the term cherem which indicates for what I know a condemned to death and / or an enemy doomed to destruction in war.
And there is no mention of a death but of a non-possibility of redemption from the sentence.
Now let's be clear it is not a beautiful thing but it is more similar to forced labor, however regulated, than to slavery as in Rome or Greece.
Furthermore, it must be considered that God and the bible show great ruthlessness.
Over and over again they commit objectionable best things at worst atrocity.
But although there are harsh and bloody verses, the ultimate goal and objective in the Torah and in the Old Testament was and still is universal peace.
See isaiah2: 4; Michael 4: 3 or Psalms 34:15.
But also Proverbs 3:17, Leviticus 36: 6, Isaiah 32:17.
Even when battle is encouraged in Deuteronomy 20: 1-4, the exaltation of battle is lacking.
Exemptions from war are shown in Deuteronomy 20: 5-9.
And in Deuteronomy 20:10 before any war there is always the offer of peace.
And in hilkhot malakshim 6: 1 it is obligatory to give the possibility of peace or to violate treaties or to deceive surrendered enemies.
In Deuteronomy 20:11, war only starts when peace is refused and the opposing national team refuses to give up their arms.
An attempt was made to stem the fury as seen with Deuteronomy 20:19 which prohibits the cutting down of fruit trees and therefore scorched earth.
It is also forbidden to kill civilians see Hilkhot Melakshim 6: 4 or Deuteronomy 20: 12-14.
In Deuteronomy 21: 22-13, a captive woman cannot be treated as a slave or a prostitute.
Even allowing marriage between Jews and peoples considered idolaters.
The exceptions are not due to racial or ethnic reasons in fact in Deuteronomy 28:63 God requires that even the Jews should be taken away from the land if they become corrupt.
The torah is not imposed against race and ethnic groups but against societies and cultures that are considered or have become corrupt and depraved and that have rejected peace and possible agreements.
It's not indiscriminate and we're certainly not talking about the Nazis.
After all, the connections were accepted and known.
See Genesis 38: 2 or 43:33.
Several prominent and positive and god-chosen people are not Israelites.
See the prophet Jeremiah who according to the peskta de Ravenna kahana 13.5 was Canaanite.
Now let's call it a total annihilation is certainly not a justification but it is honest to say that it is not a deliberate thing.
the wars waged were not motivated by ethnic reasons, the attempt at peace is always there, just like a regulated law to prevent the worst chaos.
And even then, peace is the ultimate goal and there is talk of exceptions.
Yahweh was a ruthless god but we certainly are not talking about a divinity who wants a state of eternal war and does what he does out of cruelty.
There are also contradictions.
Deuteronomy 16:10 the slaughter of gezer is retracted.
And the Amalekites are fought by David in Samuel 30 after their alleged extermination.
So it must be understood that the military terminology of the time was hyperbolic.
So yes of course the Jewish god and his faithful were merciless as they fought but they were not genocide.
Speaking also of the flood it must be said that unlike an enlil who did it on a whim, the biblical Yahweh did it for a moral question and for the corruption that a whole series of events brought (nephilim but this is another speech) enough see Genesis 6:12.
The biblical god does not need blood sacrifices just see Psalms 50:13.
In psalms 50 the moral sense is understood.
Noach / Noah is a common individual chosen for his morality and with a pact to ensure the survival of the human race, see Genesis 9.
The flood is not an act of revenge but an act of recreation.
And certainly it is not justifiable but the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the 10 plagues.
These are events that the bible are an extreme example of horror and inhumanity not something lawful.
They are exceptions due to complex circumstances, which Christians can hardly understand given that there are a lot of texts that should be canonical but are made apocryphal, see precisely the entire parenthesis of the nephilim.
Which its clear doesn't make it moral or justifiable.
An exception is not the norm.
The USA are not absolute monsters for the two atomic bombs launched at the end of the Second World War and for the many defects they have.
The bible itself is relatively more democratic than other ancient texts.
In Deuteronomy 17: 14-15 the monarchy was chosen and willed despite God's own advice not.
And even then in Deuteronomy 17: 15-20 there are abnormal legal limits.
And even then the torah shows a profound positive economic revolution as seen in Deuteronomy 10: 9_14: 28-29.
The New Testament is the logical progression of the Old Testament
Gradually throughout the Old Testament there is a progressive development of Yahweh and of his faithful.
That of the genesis is not that of the exodus which is not that of the Leviticus which is not that of Deuteronomy.
The Old Testament itself is the natural evolution of the Hammurabi code and the Sumerian myth.
This is not to justify Yahweh that anyone with a minimum of intellectual honesty will admit that he has done terrible things but it is to say that the situation is very gray and that there is a progression and a change of the Jewish people and their god.

Oooh, 1,688 for the Bible names game?
1688 is Shechaniah! It means "God has dwelt." There are a whopping seven different guys named Shechaniah in Scripture, including a priest who returned to Jerusalem under Zerubbabel. Only eight collective uses of the name though.
Okay, get ready, because seven guys means lots of reference verses: 1 Chronicles 3:21, Ezra 8:3, Ezra 8:5, Ezra 10:2, Nehemiah 3:29, Nehemiah 6:18, and Nehemiah 12:3.

Jeremiah Complains to the LORD
1 Whenever I complain to you, LORD, you are always fair. But now I have questions about your justice. Why is life easy for sinners? Why are they successful?
2 You plant them like trees; you let them prosper and produce fruit. Yet even when they praise you, they don't mean it.
3 But you know, LORD, how faithful I've always been, even in my thoughts. So drag my enemies away and butcher them like sheep!
4 How long will the ground be dry and the pasturelands parched? The birds and animals are dead and gone.
And all of this happened because the people are so sinful. They even brag, “God can't see the sins we commit.”
The LORD Answers Jeremiah
5 Jeremiah, if you get tired in a race against people, how can you possibly run against horses?
If you fall in open fields, what will happen in the forest along the Jordan River?
6 Even your own family has turned against you. They act friendly, but don't trust them. They're out to get you, and so is everyone else.
The LORD Is Furious with His People
7 I loved my people and chose them as my very own. But now I will reject them and hand them over to their enemies.
8 My people have turned against me and roar at me like lions. That's why I hate them.
9 My people are like a hawk surrounded and attacked by other hawks. Tell the wild animals to come and eat their fill.
10 My beautiful land is ruined like a field or a vineyard trampled by shepherds and stripped bare by their flocks.
11 Every field I see lies barren, and no one cares.
12 A destroying army marches along desert roads and attacks everywhere. They are my deadly sword; no one is safe from them.
13 My people, you planted wheat, but because I was furious, I let only weeds grow. You wore yourselves out and gained only shame!
The LORD Will Have Pity on Other Nations
14 The LORD said:
I gave this land to my people Israel, but enemies around it have attacked and robbed it. So I will uproot them from their own countries just as I will uproot Judah from its land. 15 But later, I will have pity on these nations and bring them back to their own lands. 16 They once taught my people to worship Baal. But if they admit I am the only true God, and if they let my people teach them how to worship me, these nations will also become my people. 17 However, if they don't listen to me, I will uproot them from their lands and completely destroy them. I, the LORD, have spoken. — Jeremiah 12 | Contemporary English Version (CEV) The Holy Bible, Contemporary English Version Copyright © 1995 by American Bible Society. May the Lord give strength to his people! May the Lord bless his people with peace! Psalm 29:11
And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ Mark 12:30
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10
