Boundaries to Consider
I say no to things I don’t like.
I say no to things that don’t contribute to my growth.
I say no to things that rob me of valuable time.
I spend time around healthy people.
I reduce my interactions with people who drain my energy.
I protect my energy against people who threaten my sanity.
I practice positive self-talk.
I allow myself to feel and not judge my feelings.
I forgive myself when I make a mistake.
I actively cultivate the best version of myself.
I turn off my phone when appropriate.
I sleep when I’m tired.
I mind my business.
I make tough decisions because they’re healthy for me.
I create space for activities that bring me joy.
I say yes to activities that interest me despite my anxiety about trying them.
I experience things alone instead of waiting for the “right” people to join me.
When people raise their voice at me, I tell them it’s not okay.
I address issues when they arise instead of allowing them to fester.
When a boundary is violated, I clearly define my expectations for communication in the beginning and throughout my relationships. Example: “I’d prefer if we talked about serious matters in person instead of over text.”
When I notice that someone is trying to manipulate me by intentionally trying to guilt me or pushing my boundaries, I recognize it as manipulation and uphold my boundaries.
When someone says something about me that isn’t true, I immediately correct them. Example: They might say, “You’re always late.” You might respond: “I was late today. However, there are other times, such as ____, when I’ve been on time.” Don’t argue; just state what you know to be true.
I speak to myself as gently as I would talk to a small child.
I coach myself through awkward moments.
I allow myself to make mistakes without judging myself harshly.
I don’t call myself names.
I don’t make mean comments about myself either in my mind or out loud in front of others.
I don’t hit people or any property when I’m upset.
If I feel the need to cry, I allow myself to do so.
When I get agitated, I remove myself from the situation and practice my breathing until I feel calm.
I create an idea of the type of people I want in my life.
When I notice issues in my relationships, I honor myself by speaking up.

Boundaries are expectations and needs that help you feel safe and comfortable in your relationships. Expectations in relationships help you stay mentally and emotionally well. Learning when to say no and when to say yes is also an essential part of feeling comfortable when interacting with others.

Sometimes when I am dealing with what could be perceived as mom-guilt about time spent away from my kids, what is actually happening is that I am missing my kids. Guilt is a reaction to doing something wrong, or feeling as though you’ve done something wrong. I’m not doing something wrong by being away from my kids so there isn’t anything for me to feel guilty about.

Hello! Have you got any reading recommendations either about childhood neglect/the mother wound specifically or anything fiction/non fiction generally?
No, not that much. I've read on emotional immaturity: Lindsay C. Gibson's Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and Running On Empty by Jonice Webb. Specifically about mothers I can only think now of Emotionally Absent Mother by Jasmin Lee Cori and Will I Ever Be Good Enough?: Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers by Karyl McBride.
Then furthermore what stuck with me were things from the book Healing Your Emotional Self by Beverly Engel and Healing the Shame That Binds You by John Bradshaw.
Going further in terms of current boundaries and dynamics, self discovery: Lori Gottlieb's Maybe You Should Talk to Someone, Attached by Amir Levine and maybe Set Boundaries, Find Peace by Nedra Glover Tawwab.
Then if we're talking about understanding Trauma and what it does to the brain and the body of course The Body Keeps The Score by Bessel van der Kolk and Trauma and Recovery by Judith Herman. Furthermore I like in that direction Bruce Perry's The Boy Who Was Raised as a Dog and Good Morning, Monster by Catherine Gildiner.

Womb Healing Masterpost
 Please share far and wide.
With the increase of hormonal imbalance as a result of the collective being fed constant cycles of stress through the media, I’ve felt called to organize info that’s been useful to me on healing the womb and healing hormonal imbalance. While menstruation pain has been normalized, it is not natural to regularly be in pain during your cycle. Consistently painful cycles are the body’s way of communicating that something is wrong and that the womb needs attention.  I’ve provided some tools below to help.
I’ve broken the info up into three categories: energetic, physical, and gut health. I’ve found it to be true that womb related issues are always energetic first. Fixing the physical issue without addressing the emotional/energetic wounding will cause the illness to manifest in the body in another way. The physical category focuses on how to address womb imbalance by making changes to diet and behavior. The gut health category is gut specific healing because many hormones are created in the gut or called into creation by the gut microbiome. If you have hormonal issues it’s likely you have gut health issues as well.
The most important element of healing your womb is discernment. Use your discernment when moving through this information. Some things will be helpful and relevant to you and some will not. Everyone’s body is unique. Honor that on your journey to healing.
**note: some of these resources advise restrictive dieting (example vegan, low/no carb or otherwise) to heal the womb. While using these diets to detox for a little while may be beneficial, I’ve personally found restrictive diets to be more damaging long term. I’ve found the most benefit from prometabolic eating or eating ancestrally.  With any dietary info provided in these resources, use your discernment and prioritize listening to your body’s unique needs.**

24 books in 2024 📚
Thank you @notetaeker for the tag 🫶🏽
I don’t think it’s possible to read 24 books cause even last year I read only 18 🫠 but I’m gonna list a few I’m really interested in down here so I’m more motivated.
I’ve already read three so I think that’s a good start
Fiction
1. The Six Crimson Cranes - Elizabeth Lim ✅ (5/5)
2. The Dragons Promise - Elizabeth Lim ✅ (3/5)
3. The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea - Axie Oh ✅ (5/5)
4. The Secret History - Donna Tartt
5. The Inheritance Games - Jennifer Lynn Barnes
6. Project Hail Mary - Andy Weir
7. One of Us is Lying - Karen M McManus
Non Fiction
8. The Happiness Project - Gretchen Rubin ✅ (3/5)
9. Dare to Lead - Brene Brown
10. The Sealed Nectar - Safiur Rahman Mubarakpuri
11. Ten Myths about Israel - Ilan Pappe
12. Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself - Nedra Glover Tawwab
13. Reclaim Your Heart - Yasmin Mogahed
14. Secrets of Divine Love: A Spiritual Journey into the Heart of Islam - A. Helwa
I’ll leave the remaining 20 books upto my choice or for any random books I happen to stumble upon. This is the first year in like 11 years that I haven’t set a reading challenge on Goodreads for myself cause I just want to give myself more freedom and make reading more fun and less pressure. But this list is gonna help me prioritize the books I do wanna read :)

a reminder:

When we’re going through things, we sometimes hesitate to ask people for help because we assume that the help isn’t available. We do a lot of guesswork and decide that the people we would ask for help don’t have the space in their lives to come through for us. Sometimes, since we have trained ourselves not to ask for help, it can become challenging to accept help even when it is offered. When that happens, we need to remind ourselves that if someone asks if we need their help, that is an invitation to say yes.
