Since I just saw the film the other night, for consideration: a Princess Mononoke AU for DemoSniper / Swordvan

Sniper is San, for obvious reasons. The man learned to survive with a new family in a very inhospitable environment and just hates humans in general.

Demo is Ashitaka. Prince of a foreign land who ends up cursed? Yeah, that tracks. Extra bonus if it’s not his arm that was cursed by the demon god, it’s his eye.

Engie is Lady Eboshi. Generally friendly and cares about people? Sure. Great with iron? Yup. Will open fire at a god if it gets him what he wants or needs? Ohhh, yes.

I keep thinking of how amazing and utterly hilarious it would be if the iconic anime scene became something more in Season 2, or just a comic / fanfic series.

Like, imagine the Warners getting anime powers ala superheroes or even through Sailor Moon style charms / objects — how did they even get those? An outside force? Toon logic? Did they just one day discover they could do that??? Something to explore!

Not to mention how much fun it would be to just think of them as superheroes — throwing out quips and lines and making fun of how cheesy they are — or heck, just them running around transforming at the drop of a hat or mild inconvenience.

Also, it obviously affects other people, so what would happen if other characters got anime powers? What would they look like, even? Ralph? Scratchy? Nora Rita Norita? Pinky and the Brain???

There’s just. There’s so much fanfic / fanart potential here.

Ok, I might have seen only a little bit of Lupin content (Castle of Cagliostro, Farewell to Nostradamus, Mystery of Mamo, and a couple other episodes and movies), and I’m only on the fourth episode, BUT.

I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out why on EARTH people don’t like The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

This is possibly one of the best, cleverest, sexiest, most resourceful Fujiko interpretations I’ve seen, Miyazaki’s camo-wearing Fujiko aside. She’s utterly brilliant so far, and her characterization as a femme fatale is so fantastic -- she is a pretty face, and she’ll absolutely use that to her advantage, but she’s also smart as a whip, cunning as a fox, and not at all meant to be taken lightly or underestimated (No wonder we stan).

The way she interacts with others and her personal perspective is just... utterly wonderful to see in the series (the amount of bi vibes I’m picking up in this series is off the charts, and I am SO HERE FOR IT).

The art style isn’t like the anime, either -- it’s sketchier, darker, and it hits different, but in a gripping, gorgeous way. It fits the theme and the tone the story is setting, but thus far, this series has been EVERYTHING I could have wanted in a Fujiko-centric story. It’s bold, it’s complex, it’s subtle but beautiful, just like our girl.

(Lupin is also a highlight, though I’m not at all trying to take away from a series about Fuji -- he’s just running around as his grinning, sh*t-starting, “Today I will cause problems on purpose”-self, and I love him for that.)

You know what I realized? That most often times, we headcanon very stoic, serious characters as being asexual -- not that there’s anything wrong with that! It just seems like, more often then not, that’s the kind of person we give the ace label to.

Give me peppy asexuals! Aces happy with friendships! Aces who’re awkward and nerdy! Aces who stand with their head high and smiles wide! Aces who openly laugh and snort and giggle!
