DP x DC: No Time for Monkey Business
Danny’s family is gone. His parents, Jazz...
Danny had come home to Fenton works only to find the place tossed and ransacked, the portal broken, and his family missing. Danny doesn’t know who to trust, but he needs to find his family and whoever took them. He can’t do it on his own though, He needs help. He needs a detective, and who better to help then the greatest detective in the world...
Bobo T. Chimpanzee aka Detective Chimp
Tumblr media
For those of you unfamiliar with Detective Chimp, he is canonically the best detective in the world, better than Batman who is merely the best human detective. His skills include being able to speak to any living creature, eternal youth, hyperintelligence, incredible deductive skills, occult knowledge, and alcoholism
okay, the alcoholism isn’t a skill bit it’s wild he’s an alcoholic in canon. His entire lore is frankly wild, including Rex the Wonder Dog and the fountain of youth plus a court case that examined the implications of him being an animal owning his own business and making contracts. The ape has been in a surprising amount of team ups, from Batman, to the Shadowpact, and is in the regular rotation of Justice League Dark
He owns a magic sword called the Sword of Night, and is sassy with a sort of dry humor. Honestly kind of similar to constantine in some ways.
And Danny should play the Watson to his Sherlock.

I've recently noticed an increase in well-meaning people sharing unethical primate memes.
Unfortunately, the primates in these memes were either taken directly from their habitat to be sold or their parents are breeders that were themselves taken from the wild.
Worse yet, when baby primates are taken from the wild often times their older relatives are poached and sold for meat.
This all contributes to the reason why the majority of primates are endangered.
Let's all do our part by thinking before sharing!
Please feel free to share without credit ☺️

This line from Noa in the new trailer got my brain thinking. What could the elders of his tribe have hidden from the young ape? Here are some of theories rattling around my brain:
The history of the apes and humans. With it being 300 years after the fall of human civilization, it makes sense that the truth of that long ago human society that caged and tortured apes would get lost or changed, or a deliberate act of the elders to protect the next generation from that traumatic past. Noa finding a children's picture book showing an ape in a cage and looking very angry could hint at this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The legacy of Caesar/Noa as Caesar's descendant. From the first image of Noa, many fans have latched onto the theory that Noa is a descendant of Caesar and his surviving son Cornelius (myself included!). Could the elders have hidden Noa's heritage and the truth of Caesar's story to protect him from the burden of his great family legacy?
Tumblr media
Connections to Proximus Caesar's group. Noa's tribe is described as a small and isolated group. Is it possible that, at one point, they'd been part of Proximus Caesar's larger community and struck out on their own? Perhaps they left when Proximus Caesar declared himself ruler and twisted the original ape teachings from Caesar.
Tumblr media
Any theories of your own? Given that we've seen an image of Noa talking with one of his elders, Koro, I feel like whatever is being held back from him is a big deal and will lead to a confrontation.

Is this true? Sounds a bit like bullshit to me, but I very well may be wrong?
Tumblr media
Not only is this true, it's a topic I've been meaning to post about for a while! Gorillas and chimpanzees share the same forest ranges, but due to deforestation their species have been interacting in the wild for the first time as they now share territories. Primates of different species becoming close is not unheard of, but this is relatively novel among great apes in the wild.
Becoming close with another, similar species (sympatry) can have mutualistic benefits, but it can also cause problems:
Tumblr media
This diagram shows the main potential benefits of chimp/gorilla sympatry as well as the potential costs. While chimpanzees have been observed killing infant gorillas once or twice, overall interactions between the species appesr to be friendly, or at the very least non-hostile. In fact, some gorillas will travel 300m to join a group of chimps they know! Additionally, the species recognize each others alarm calls and have been observed engaging in play together.
To learn more about observed gorilla and chimp sympatry in the wild, you can read the full study here, and an article about the study here for those who prefer a summary and have no use for the academic text.

Humans are the only known hosts of the crab louse, although a closely related species, Pthirus gorillae, infects gorillas. The human parasite is thought to have diverged from Pthirus gorillae approximately 3.3 million years ago.
One of our ancestors fucked a gorilla.

I enjoy those posts that refer to instincts of the human mind as "monkey brain" "chimpanzee brain" "gorilla brain" "orangutan brain" (etc.) as though human brains are some blend of all of the other primates and our instincts are like specific primates "talking" to us. I mean that's really not how it works but it's fun to imagine it that way

We're still months away from Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes releasing into movie theaters but actor Owen Teague and director Wes Ball are already hinting at where this movie will end and lay the groundwork for a trilogy.
Ball said in an interview, "I don't want to say we end on a cliffhanger, but we certainly end on a new door opening essentially that will allow us to keep going if we want it to, if we were successful enough to." This fits with his interview last week, which mentioned that time-traveling astronauts would not feature in this upcoming film but could be part of sequels.
While it is not surprise that they're already thinking of sequels, as that is just typical Hollywood at this point, I'm glad to see that it's featured into their writing for Kingdom and their discussions with the studio. Apes fans, we need to make sure we show up for Kingdom in theaters so we can see Noa's story continue!
Tumblr media
Teague went further into detail about the fate of his character, the chimpanzee named Noa. "It's going to be so hard to answer that question without giving anything away. Yes, there are. there are a lot of things that... I mean, obviously I have ideas, Wes has ideas. What I can say is that where we leave Noa in this film is he's king of got two opposing forces happening within him. There's two philosophies that he's really taken in on his journey, and I think it's going to be exciting to see him grapple with that and find out. Because this sort of puts him in a position to be a leader, this film, like Caesar. I think seeing what kind of effect Noa's going to have on Apes as a whole and on the legacy of Apes is something that I'm really curious about and I think it could go a couple ways, and I think there's a lot of room to have Noa take some really interesting turns."
These warring philosophies that Noa will learn are interesting. Perhaps it will be the isolationist tendencies of his tribe versus the ideals of Caesar to bring all apes together; perhaps Proximus Caesar's ways of hunting humans will clash with Mae's secret and a reveal of ape/human history. I'll be eager to see what kind of leader Noa is shaping up to be.

Okay but in silly regards to clothes for apes, consider cloaks and capes for apes
Well have I got good news for you! Apes already wear cloaks and capes of their own design:

This isn’t much of a practice in the wild since apes live in hot climates and have fur, but in captivity in places where chilly weather happens, cloaks and capes are the fashion statement of choice for the ape venturing out in the cold!
