i am glad sega is a company that does more for lgbt than just edit their logo with a rainbow. like they donate and raise money for charities and organizations and such. But i hate how so many people get all surprised when they do this like EVERY YEAR!!!!!! this is not new and it will never be new, theyve always supported the gays ever since gay marriage became legal!!!! and sonic fans i dont understand how you can be homophobic. like. how??? the main character HATES oppression, and his whole shtick is like "oh be free!! do whatever you want in life, cuz life is short!". its just so annoying. and sometimes i can understand some little kid that is homophobic because they just dont get things yet but an adult??? an full grown adult that does their taxes is upset about a blue hedgehog with a rainbow flag????? ough. its so annoying. also like recently i got a comment a post where i put that funny gay rights rainbow shadow meme and it was sayingb like "shadow would be homophobic/transphobic hes so edgy" and ermmm WRONG! 🤓☝️ i think i said this here before. if i did, then my deepest apologies. BUT for a character whos main story and issues was figuring out his identity and who he really was, his ass would be so fucking hypocritical if he hated trans/gay people. but yeah Every single year this happens and GOODDDD its so annoying thank u for reading my silly litle rant if u did

pick a pile: "Your soulmate's light and dark"
take a breath and choose the photo/number that calls you the most to read about what may be the "good" and "bad" sides of your soulmate: remember a soulmate can be either romantic or platonic (it's part of our soulmate family). I will let the message open to any type of soulmate also cause not everyone wants a romantic partner now.
As you can see from the pics, the reading is divided in two parts: if you feell called by the light side of one pile and the dark side of another, it's obviously fine. Sometimes lights aspect may mix up with dark ones and vice versa: it's fine. Nobody's here to judge what is really light or dark in everyone's life. Thanks to the 2 Anons who suggested this topic.
don’t take the reading too seriously. only take what resonates with you and leave the rest. if you're not called by any pile, let this reading slid as it may not hold messages for you. if you're called by more than one, there may be messages in each of those piles. remember that is a general reading and some things may not resonate with you. energies can change and readings are based on present ones (as you read); you're always in charge of your life.

Someone good with words and communication, very talented in what they do. Someone that may be rich, not just with money but also in experiences. Someone into magic or that has magical abilities (or perceived so). A joyful optimistic, open, ambitious, spiritual, not too corrupted by the harsh world, and healing for you. Your connection may bring healing to both of you. Balanced, may also be doing two jobs. Very giving to those they like/love, the classic "helping hand". May also be an healer as a job (also through communication). They may be healing some dark aspects of them too atm. Physical in their displays of affections (loves hugging).
song: quiver | lonas
--dark--
A "shield hard to break": might not be easy to get closer to them, not much physically but emotionally. May have had not positive past experiences or fear being played with; once they trust you though, nothing can break that trust (unless you do something stupid which ofc would make them show you a different side of them: I think may have problems with anger, at times). Kinda possessive/jealous of their partner and friends/family. Likes to take care of you/them and go beyond in order to do that (meaning they may second guess themselves, at least on occasions). [18+ MESSAGE: may be a dom and like to tie you or ordering you]

I keep hearing "simplicity is the key". Might not appear or stand out physically, but hides loads of amazing and different traits in their character. Sophisticated, empathic, harmonious, likes to be one of the many out in the world, but appreciate everytime someone (and in particular you/their family/friends) remind them of how much important they are. Wise, smart, into books, a philanthropist. Might be donating a lot to charity. The person you'd go to for advices. Has continuosly transformed, grown and adapted through their life. Might be popular, even just in their field or city.
song: the fabulous emancipation of one harley quinn | daniel pemberton
--dark--
Too kind for the world, too sweet, too easily hurt. Too giving. Still needs to work on boundaries and self esteem/worth. Tendencies to people please, feeling neglected and abandoned on occasions. Still needs to work on some of their traumas, despite how much they've already done. Might fear running out of time and gets anxious. Needs someone to ground them and remind them it's fine to not know and to be patient and hopeful. To not be scared. Might have fear of commitment/intimacy, and not realize when it's time to take a step back and see how much they've done. They want to do more constantly. They need to do better. Never satisfied. Always searching for something else, and for someone that needs them/their help. Needs to learn how to take care of/show up for themselves.

This person is light. And love. Bright, optimistic, happy, a warm ray of sunshine. Ofc they have some issues too, but when they're around others, they try to be as positive and encouraging as possible. They want to see people succeed. And applaude them. They are a gift from heaven to everyone they encounter. People may randomly start speaking with them, confessing stuff to them e.g. when on a train or in line at the grocery shop. They make people feel understood and never judged. Very welcoming, accepting and kind energy. Tend to not see immediately when they're being deceived, may be a bit naive.
song: if you love me | brownstone
--dark--
Nobody/not many know this cause they rarely speak about their darkest side, but they've been through hell and back. They've been in the mud, they navigated the darkest waters but still managed to came out so pure and kind as nothing happened. Only at their core they know and remember every little step of those trips (and sometimes they may still feel that deep hurt). They have known hate, judgment, abandonment, neglect... maybe even more. They stayed strong through all that, through all the physical and mental struggles. It doesn't matter if others aren't aware of this trait and tend to judge them easily as a "lucky one". They want to save others from experiencing the same hell, and for this reason they try to be this bright kind person everytime they can. They didn't let pain change them.

--light--
A little bright pure star. Someone who likes to be at the center of attention, doesn't mind that. Might be popular online/make public speeches. May like to be different or results different in their environment (clothing/style, physical features...). Healing eyes/smile. May help those around them to change perspective, to see how beauty is hidden in the darkest places. May have scars or some other particular feature/medical aspect, and not mind showing them and how well you can live even while being "imperfect". They may nurture everyone's fears, trying to help them balance their mind and emotions also by being an example/guide (for some). Someone everybody can learn a lot from. They "change the game" (and mentality) of people. Strong minded. They use their differences (whatever those are) as a way to stand out from the crowd. Not as something to be afraid but to be proud of. Leader.
song: wanna be on your mind | valerie june
--dark--
Might have slightly manipulative behaviour occasionally, in particular when triggered. May fear not making it, not having done enough, not being able to do enough. Might fear to be forgotten by their dear ones in particular. Despite not regretting being different, secretly wants to be as anyone else especially when triggered (our emotional immaturity comes out when we're triggered). Needs time outs to get away from those moments (especially in nature/meditating). Constantly fighting with their mind and emotions to keep a balance, may experience outburst of anger and powerlessness/unworthiness. Might try to isolate themselves, not to hurt others. A bit of self sabotage and impostor syndrome. Might find their self validation in others.
song: under my skin | claudia kane

what was fascinating about the post in question - i saw a version where someone reblogged to criticize those points - is that it made it clear how much a lot of angry moralizing gen z kiddos don't understand basic stuff about how the internet works. they were saying that it was just greedy for ao3 to ask for money because "it has a lot of users so they have plenty of money." someone reblogged from the 22-yro saying that to explain that "having a lot of users" only makes you money if you either have advertisements or you sell those users' data. ao3 does neither, so in that case, having a lot of users in fact just COSTS money. the only way to make an ao3 that wouldn't need donations is to make it a website you wouldn't want to use. it's actually bizarre to me, as a millennial, that people don't understand this, but i guess that shows how low tech literacy goes when you exclusively use sites that are slaves to the algorithm, when you've grown up entirely in the social media era.
i also think it shows that even a lot of people who claim to advocate on behalf of oppressed groups don't really see them as people, particularly when they're coming from other countries. they don't consider that the group "palestinians" and "people who read fanfiction on ao3" has any overlap. they don't think of palestinians OR israelis as people who might have silly hobbies like reading fanfic. same with ukrainians, same with whomever. i've personally known people in all three of those groups who are active in fandom, but sure, they all agree with your take (tm) that donating to ao3 is somehow taking money away from palestine.
also, as someone who donated to ao3 and also donated to the palestine children's relief fund, i kind of wonder how many people making these posts are donating to palestine-related charities themselves lol
--
Oh, it's always like this, right down to the "No, users cost money" debunkings.

Why doesn't the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints build homeless shelters, hospitals, etc?
Because the Church doesn't duplicate infrastructure.
Why build an entirely new hospital when you can provide resources and volunteers to an existing one? (Note: they built Deseret Hospital, which was the predecessor to both LDS Hospital and Primary Children's Hospital in Salt Lake City)
Why build homeless shelters when it is far more effective to house the homeless instead with the same money?
Why create new charities when you can donate to existing ones?
People who use this line think they've found some clever Gotcha on a subject they don't know anything about.
Source: Me. I spent part of my mission serving at Temple Square. It includes Welfare Square, the hub of the Church's humanitarian aid program. It represents generations of the Church's investments into providing for those in need. The scope of what they do is so broad, I can't explain it all here. But the Relief Society innovated safe grain storage, which has gone into helping people in need for over a hundred years all over the world. Relief Society grain fed people after the San Francisco Earthquake, World War I, the Great Depression, and the Great Chinese Famine. The women of the Church created infrastructure where it did not exist, and it has been the backbone of the Church's humanitarian aid ever since.
The thing I most remember was the fact that they could get wheelchairs to people in the developing world for $4 a pop. They don't do any of that on their own. They do it in partnership with other organizations because it means they can help more people with the resources they give. The Church and its volunteers get less recognition that way, but that doesn't matter to us. It's the good deed done well that motivates my people, not recognition.
Why don't I care that the Church-owned ranches and farms are so large and valuable? Because that is where the food in the Bishop's Storehouses comes from. The Church grows and processes all the food they give away, functioning almost entirely on volunteer labor. There is a cannery right around the corner from my house where I've assisted in the Church's efforts to can peaches. Those peaches were grown on a church-owned farm. My congregation gets a cannery assignment, shared with all the other congregations here locally, to process food that feeds people in our community, whether they're active members of the Church or not. And ours is just one example of operations just like it that exist all over the world.
I've stood in the kitchens of Brazilian women who were preparing and storing rice to give away to people in need. The Young Women in my last ward collected donations to make hygiene kits to give away to homeless people. Wherever there are women in this Church, there will always be people finding ways to help people simply because they care.
Which is a reminder to my LDS friends who follow me: you don't have to listen to people who criticize the Church's generosity, especially when they're loud and wrong. Just start rattling off the ways you've seen the Church and its people do good where you are, or wherever you've been.
They probably don't remember Hurricane Sandy when it leveled New Jersey. But I do because my YSA congregation in Delaware had sign up sheets going around for months for volunteers to participate in the cleanup. They don't remember Hurricane Michael. But I do, because I was visiting family in the aftermath and saw all the roofs that were tarped by volunteers from my Church, members of that community in the Florida panhandle whose own church building was still in shambles.
Need a way to see all the good the Church is doing where you live? Go to justserve.org. It is full of volunteer opportunities in your local community, many of which are on there because of volunteers from the Church and the causes they're already involved in. I put one in the bulletin for my congregation each week. It's a better use of your time than entertaining out of pocket nonsense in your Asks from strangers on the Internet.

I've had a thought on Game Theory and MatPat ever since I watched Big Joel's video on some of his film theories, and I guess this is the last chance to share it with any relevancy.
Game Theory was really important to me at some point, even as I increasingly saw the flaws. I fantasized about being MatPat: being a conventionally-attractive, able-bodied theater kid/science nerd with the full American Dream house-family dealio. I think that, whatever criticisms you may have, the videos have always been more harmless than not. They were like candy, and I enjoyed them as such.
But, at times there has been an undercurrent of something weird, something more nefarious. I first noticed it with his Scott Cawthon apologia.
After the news broke about the FNAF creator donating huge sums of money to support the campaign of Donald Trump and other conservative politicians, there was a huge backlash, especially from LGBT. Fan gave Scott Cawthon money, and he used that money to cause harm to them and theirs. MatPat's response is some centrist BS about how it wasn't about homophobia for Cawthon, it was about "national defense" (which is also bad for different reasons, and at best paints Cawthon as apathetic to the harm he's causing), and how even though it's okay to feel betrayed, it doesn't mean we should stop supporting the games, because the fan community has grown larger than one man.
As someone whose brand is deeply entwined with FNAF, the financial incentives for The Game Theorists are obvious; they weren't about to stop working with this franchise or its creator, they didn't want to tarnish their reputation by admitting past fault, and they needed to keep the cash cow rolling. So, they worked backwards from those conclusions to rationalize those decisions to their audience.
Then there are the more mundane gripes with the theorist channels: that videos are churned out so rapidly that they make sloppy errors, that they primarily advertise to children (with all the ethical ickiness that entails), that they use content from small creators without giving proper credit or linking to the sources, that the videos are overloaded with ads, usually including a paid sponsorship, several minutes of shilling their own store, and the usual youtube ads on top.
I think all of this speaks to the channels' underlying philosophy, and it's the philosophy of liberalism, by which I mean that marriage between capitalism and democracy. On the one hand, this is a moneymaking venture. It always has to be about making as much money as possible. But on the other hand, it needs to be (or seem, or allow the creators to feel) moral, and so the result is a view of the world where, yes, the company is trying to squeeze out as much money as possible, but also them getting more money is a good thing that benefits everyone. They do charity streams. They employ people. They "educate." "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good."
I'm not just guessing at the motives here. Matpat has been transparent about Game Theory's Origin Story on multiple occasions. It's part of the narrative that justifies the channels' existence. At some point, Matpat pursued theater as a career. In college, he got his first taste of something like poverty, struggling to get by, camping out at McDonald's with its free refills and wifi (a life I've also lived at times and perhaps the origin of the Diet Coke fixation). And it scared the hell out of him. I don't think it could have had that kind of traumatic effect if he had not lived in privilege until that point. He didn't want to feel financially insecure ever again.
The solution was to create the Game Theory channel as a bridge into a much more lucrative career as a corporate consultant. Creating a popular, financially-viable youtube channel allowed him to sell himself as a social media expert to out of touch corporations. He's not really hiding that he's a sellout, just arguing that selling out is a good thing.
All in all, I can't bring myself to hate Game Theory. It had its place. But neither can I celebrate it, or look back with unconditional nostalgia. The problems with Game Theory are the problems with Youtube and the problems of capitalism. We compromise a little to survive, we compromise everything to make it big, and saddest of all are those who sell out and get nothing for it. The channels will continue without Matpat, and if the channels die, there will be countless other identical creators ready to take their place.

Update 7/20/2022
Hello everyone its been a while since I’ve done an update. Since we are close to 3,000 followers I thought now is a time if any. I am happy that this blog has grown over the years and so many people support it. I’m especially thankful for everyone who has submitted characters or informed me of issues or updates that need to be made.
So when we reach 3,000, I’m planning on doing another donation to various charities like last time. I haven't selected which ones yet, but I will try to keep things diverse. Like last time folks will vote on a charity and I’ll donate to all of them (the one with the most will get the most money). More updates will come out when I get to it.
Another thing I was considering adding is a Q and A? Not sure yet
Below are some things folks have wanted me to share with you all:
I'll Live My Own Life :
Link
A mini documentary about a boy who has type 1 diabetes and dreams of playing baseball. Tw needles, needle use
Drag Syndrome
Video Link
Website
A group of drag royals who have Down Syndrome. It is run by folks who have Down Syndrome and is a drag group that supports disabled royals. It is very important for folks to have agency over their identity and gender. Many people try to control disabled peoples and deny them control. Trans and Queer disabled people face both discrimination for being LGBT and disabled. Drag is also an artform and a way of gender expression. Also I’m a huge Jason Bond stan
Disabled Queer and Hear
Video Link
Website
“We work to put on events in the community for people with Disabilities so they can be part of the LGBTQ community, as people with Disabilities have been left out for a long time. Our aim is to break down barriers and increase awareness, inclusion, diversity and accessibility. At our events we always have a BSL interpreter and we use accessible venues.“ - Queer and Hear website
Thank you all for your support,

I swear this fandom is unsatisfied with every apology , people doesn't like straight to the point apology like Tommy, people doesn't like long ass apology that explain their actions like Dream, the only apology that this fandom likes are Quackity and Ranboo's apology
here's the problem with 99% of youtuber apologies. 1) they use language that puts the responsibility on the people who deserve the apology, and 2) their actions dont resemble their words. in the first instance, people say things like "im sorry if i offended you," which is a nice sentiment, however its not a great thing to put in an apology because it places the burden onto the group that was wronged, insinuating that if they hadn't been offended then this wouldnt have been a problem. in the second instance, you can say anything you want, but if you cant follow it up with equal action then it doesnt really mean anything (not related to apologizing but *cough* ranboo *cough*). i think that serious, thoughtful charity donations, such as matching the results of a subathon or just doing a personal donation, are especially good ways for ccs to support their words with actions because most of them have more money than they know what to do with but dont have the knowledge/resources to campaign for an issue or organize something big.
another reason why cc apologies always fall flat is the fandom response. generally its difficult for people to view others as imperfect beings who are working on themselves, or people who have grown from who they were in the past. this is especially true for the young demographic of the dream smp and related creators. even if a cc gives a spotless apology and follows it up with consistent actions to show that they care about the issue, people are still going to hate them for a while ESPECIALLY if its the majority or "woke" opinion to have. im not saying that if someone has a history of saying homophobic slurs that queer people should be expected to forgive them and keep watching their content, but i feel like the majority of people, personally affected or not, are pretty quick to forgive cause thats how people normally are. where this gets mistranslated in the fandom is when people have absolutely no context for what is an important issue and what is minor and may not even deserve an apology. jack saying what he said on mizkif's stream? im glad he explained himself but i certainly didnt expect an apology from him. dream and the whole manatreed situation? im still angry about that, but im not going to tell people that they cant watch dream because that's not my place. the problem arises when other people do assume it's their place and also have no idea what is actually a grievous offense
tldr: most creators need to get better at apologizing, most of the fandom needs to get better at understanding what warrants an apology

iii ⸻ biography
she was born with the silver spoon in her mouth. her parents came from old money that went back generations, and that wealth was only grown by their hedge fund and investment firm, an easy way to hide all their off shore accounts.
rather than consider herself lucky for being born into such comfort and luxury, isadora opened her mouth and choked on her wealth. she let it consume her, let herself be swept up in holidays to europe all year round, expensive jewellery, and an iron fist that she ruled both her high school and college with because everyone knew she had the power to destroy them if they crossed her. she had the money and the means and she learnt while she was still young that there was little she enjoyed more than control.
she held a degree in law, though she hadn't much reason to use it. she spent more of her time as a socialite, attending charity galas and luncheons, convincing the public that she was as sweet as sugar and gathering secrets to ensure all the vultures in her circle could never dethrone her.
her first marriage was a lesson. she'd always had a soft heart and tended to fall in love with anyone who could see her humour and the slivers of kindness that existed deep within her. but she'd repressed all that, convinced that marrying for love was for poor people. so she married someone that fit in with her lifestyle, someone she thought would look good on her arm at her events and she got along with well enough. they married when she was 20, and divorced when she was 22, but at least he made her a mother before it all fell apart.
her father tugged her into business with the sawayama's not long after that, putting her law degree to some use. she worked as part of their legal team and was always good at finding loopholes to get them out of trouble.
isadora hadn't exactly planned on a second partner coming into her life after the failure that was the first time, but she hardly had a choice. love pulled her into it's arms and held her there, motherhood finally opening her heart up to the possibility. she fell deep and hard, and she knew that she would do anything to keep such happiness in her grasp.
she didn't have nearly as much luck when it came to expanding her family, though. her first pregnancy had been hard on her body, and it took years until she could have another baby. it left her a little more caring for the younger recruits in the organization, had her less obsessed with herself and far more capable of taking care of others for the first time. by the time her second child came around, she had a new reputation amongst the sawayama's as the one who people could go to for advice, especially if they were in trouble.
eventually she was offered her place as the consigliere, and isadora would never dream of turning such an opportunity down. she'd learned plenty of the business in all her years there, and she knew well enough what needed to be done to maintain her lifestyle. not only that, but the sawayama's had become almost like a second family to her. doling out her advice and her judgement without much prompt.
overall, she's a judgy bitch that thinks she's better than everyone but also has a soft spot for her family and the younger members of the organization. loves being a socialite and having the public think that she's an angel that donates to charity while she rides around in limos with a hand gun in her purse and a knife strapped to her thigh.

Los Campesinos!' first ever glockenspiel: charity auction
February 2nd, 2010
FIRST OFF…we are auctioning off Los Campesinos!’ first ever glockenspiel, to raise money for the relief effort in Haiti. At my time of writing, the auction ends in about 30 hours. If you would like to bid on the item, a piece of ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY, then you can do so, here:
Below is a piece I wrote about my ‘relationship’ with the glockenspiel, for our Drowned In Sound takeover week:
In the past three years of doing interviews I’ve constantly been amazed at how much interviewers seem to care about the fact some of our songs include a glockenspiel. Not just casual mentions but whole interviews centering around the thing, as if there’s actually anything interesting to be said about it.
The glockenspiel was an accident. I borrowed it from school one time to use in mine and Kim’s old band, and kind of forgot to ever return it. It wasn’t a deliberate steal, but I don’t feel too guilty about it as glockenspiels were ten a penny at my school. Thrust into the hand of any poor, uninterested child in compulsory music lessons, after they’d mastered Merrily We Roll Along on the recorder, and driven the teachers nuts by exhausting every preset rhythm track on the keyboards.
In the band’s formative stages our songs were either the ‘pop hits’ of yore (Death To Los Campesinos! (then catchily known as Track 1), Y! M! D!, Broken Heartbeats…) or these by numbers post-rock efforts we knocked up (I actually thought they were alright). Having no musical ability and enough common sense not to insist upon doing some spoken word whine about girls on top of these songs, I turned to the glock for something to do with my hands. And it stuck. I wish I just opted to use the opportunity to go to the bar.
It’s served us well. For better, for worse I think we’d be near the top of any list of “bands what use a glock”, and I’m sure it’s a buzz word that piqued a few peoples’ interest in us, but it’s become the bane of my existence. I look around onstage and see my friends thrashing at guitars, or hitting the shit out of drums, or even masterfully taming a violin, and then I look to the end of my arm and see myself clutching at this dainty beater, and as I do so I physically feel my testosterone levels decline.
Y’see, I KNOW that nobody looks at somebody playing a glockenspiel and thinks “He’s cool, I want to be like him”. They more likely think “he wets the bed”. Nobody’s ever got laid off the back of playing the glockenspiel, and let’s face it, that’s the whole reason people start bands in the first place. It would almost be worth it if I could play it well, but I play glock in the same way Richie Edwards played the guitar. I’m mostly just coasting along thanks to my good looks.
People have come up to me after gigs (some of them GROWN ADULTS) and said that they’ve bought a glockenspiel (actually, they usually say “xylophone”, but I know what they mean) off the back of liking our band. I feel awful. It’s like how Davina McCall would feel if someone came up to her and said “I loved you in Streetmate so I started taking smack”.
And so, it’s with a heart full of helium that I’m auctioning off Los Campesinos!’ first ever glockenspiel. This piece of crap was used on our initial demos, the Sticking Fingers Into Sockets EP, and on Hold On Now, Youngster… . It’s travelled all over the world, had numerous pints of beer spilt over it and always been treated with a firm but sensual hand, emasculating me time after time. All money made from the sale of the thing will be donated to the relief effort in Haiti, so if you’d like to own it (and I know that YOU obviously don’t), please bid far more than it’s actually worth.

The Past, Present and Future of Crowdfunding in India
Tumblr media
The wealth of a person becomes meaningless if it is not distributed and utilised.
– RIG VEDA
Almost everyone has experienced the joy of giving at some stage or another. Giving money, giving help in other ways or giving of themselves to a person in need, listening to him or her, or helping them with their problems. The word Philanthropy means the practice of giving money and time to help make life better for other people has Greek origins. It springs from the word fil-anthra-pi–the love of ‘fellowmen’. Surprisingly, wealth did not correlate with the initial definition of the word, but over some time, people began to realise that when love, empathy, kindness and humanity prevail, wealth assumes a nobler purpose.
Some countries have the concept of philanthropy embedded in them like India, where it is evident in the rich diversity. It is ever-present in every religion practised here. The Hindus have a principle of dann, which constitutes the feeding of the priests, charity to orphans, etc. In Muslims, zakat–giving a portion of one’s income to charity is widely practised throughout the social spectrum. On a similar note, Christians have the concept of the tithe–giving away one-tenth of what one earns to charity. The Sikhs have a tradition of a direct service by one’s own hands for a charitable cause. The langar in every Gurdwara is an excellent example of such service.
Tumblr media
Philanthropy has evolved a lot over the ages, especially during the latter half of the nineteenth century. The latter half of the nineteenth century saw the rise of philanthropic trusts, foundations set up mainly by business tycoons like Andrew Carnegie, Jamsetji Tata, etc. These trusts and foundations provided the right conduit for the effective social spending of the vast wealth generated by modern industries. Such trusts and foundations mainly focused on tackling major challenges that less well-endowed institutions would not even be able to attempt.
Healthcare financing for patients has always been a challenge in a developing nation like India. Crowdfunding is a novel but long-lasting solution to this challenge. Whereas crowdfunding is still seen as a developed-world phenomenon, its potential to create new jobs and stimulate innovation in the developing world has not gone unnoticed.  Crowdfunding, while still in its nascent stage, has grown by leaps and bounds in the past decade. It is popularly predicted that the total transaction value of crowdfunding is projected to reach $90.4m by 2025 in India. While equity crowdfunding is still banned in India, other forms of crowdfunding like donation-based, reward-based, debt-based and peer-to-peer-based are gaining steady steam. Crowdfunding backed by digital marketing can bring wonderful results. It has emerged as a great tool to fund social causes.
The future of philanthropy lies in crowdfunding. India with its wide population and robust economy is the perfect market for crowdfunding startups. With the current introduction of cryptocurrency into India’s economy, crowdfunding will be seeing another boost in popularity.
Crowdfunding is one of the best avenues to build a long-lasting sustainable healthcare financing health system for patients.

The Past, Present and Future of Crowdfunding in India
Tumblr media
The wealth of a person becomes meaningless if it is not distributed and utilized.
Surprisingly, wealth did not correlate with the initial definition of the word, but over some time, people began to realize that when love, empathy, kindness and humanity prevail, wealth assumes a nobler purpose.
Some countries have the concept of philanthropy embedded in them like India, where it is evident in the rich diversity. It is ever-present in every religion practiced here. 5 Ways to Reduce Food Waste After Office Lunches
Working toward greener, more sustainable business practices is a must for the health of our planet and the people on it. However, striving for a greener organization is also a sound financial decision that provides practical benefits for your business. For instance, less food waste also means less money wasted. Unfortunately, at the end of every team lunch or event, it seems like there’s tons of food that goes to waste. The good news is it doesn’t need to be this way! For instance, finding the best service for local catering, whether you’re catering Wilmington NC business events or those in NYC, can make a big difference when it comes to minimizing food waste.. Here are a few tips to consider.
Tumblr media
Look Into Local Food Waste Businesses or Startups Although choosing the right catering and food service practices will effectively reduce food waste, some waste is inevitable. The question is how best to deal with it. The good news is that there are now businesses established and startups emerging across the country that are dedicated to dealing with food waste. Look up businesses or startups in your area that are working to turn food waste into biofuel, redistributing it, or otherwise contributing to a solution. Create a Composting Program in the Office Local governments, individuals, and private businesses are starting to embrace composting more than ever, which is great news for the environment. Those banana peels, apple cores, and coffee grinds don’t have to pile up in landfills. Find resources for creating a composting program in your office, and the whole team can do their part! Use a Catering Service to Find Local Options If you want to have a more sustainable team lunch, it’s almost always better to go with a local option. Many local restaurants even use locally-grown ingredients, which might mean lower emissions across the board. You might have even heard of a local restaurant that is famous for its sustainable practices. Rather than going with a big corporate option, consider catering Dallas, Cincinnati, or meetings anywhere else with local fare. The best apps allow you to better control the ordering process as well, so you can avoid overordering, eliminating waste from the start. Consider Donating Excess Food to a Charity or Soup Kitchen When excess food from an event remains edible but uneaten, there’s no reason for it to go to waste. Look up local charities and non-profits in your area that could use it. Find out if it would be possible to donate it to a charity, food bank, soup kitchen, or shelter. The best catering services have this feature built in. For example, ezCater partners with Replate to help redistribute unused food from large company events. Encourage Team Members to Take Leftovers Home There may also be a more immediate resource for reducing excess food waste—your team members. People are often hesitant about taking home extra food from an event because they either think it’s inconvenient or they think that someone else will take care of it. Make a point to tell your team that they’re free to make a doggie bag of any uneaten food from a catered event and enjoy it at home. About ezCater Are you looking for the most delicious local food choices for your next team lunch or event? If so, ezCater is here to ensure your business has the food you ordered when you want it. Plus, they make ordering as easy as possible. For over 15 years, ezCater has helped companies nationwide feed their team. They have created a network of over 100,000 restaurants across the U.S., allowing you to cater events of any size confidently. Plus, ezCater delivers 24/7 customer service, makes special orders easy, and provides access to intuitive tools to track food spend easily. Wherever you are, whether you’re looking for the best catering Lexington KY, Los Angeles, NYC, and hundreds more locations have to offer, ezCater has you covered. Everybody Eats
My dad gasps when I tell him the price for a single cucumber at New World. “Seven dollars?! How are you supposed to feed yourself?” I always tell him that we manage just fine. We’re students. We’re supposed to struggle. Right?
I think Everybody Eats would beg to differ.
Everybody Eats is a charity restaurant, with a kaupapa of reducing food waste, food poverty, and social isolation in Aotearoa. These issues targeted are intersectional, with the “ability to solve each other”. Prior to our current cost of living crisis, “A 2014 global survey found one in six Kiwis ran out of money for food, meaning we have one of the worst food poverty problems in the developed world”. This case study aims to explore why young people are well-equipped to create transformational change to address the cost of living crisis.
Tumblr media
As all previous case studies have demonstrated, the cost of living crisis encompasses many different structural injustices. Everybody Eats is specifically aiming to mitigate the structural injustice of food poverty. Food poverty is a structural injustice as it is mostly caused by a lack of money for food—a socio-structural position that restrains and limits one’s choices (Young 2011). This is also social-structural position that is often populated by young people and students.
To combat this, the organisation has chosen a pay-as-you-feel system of koha. The charity falls under the prefigurative politics and everyday organising forms of civic action. When founder Nick Loosley noticed the gap between food insecurity and food waste, he decided to redress this imbalance by living out his ideals in the present, stimulating change through prefigurative politics. Everybody Eats is also a form of everyday organising—a registered charity with Loosley as its leader, aiming to use donations to provide the communities in both Auckland and Wellington with free meals. This type of civic action follows an outside-in approach to change. Most of the upper management, including the founders, are hospitality professionals—none of them are involved in institutional politics. However, Loosley’s belief in prefigurative politics is his theory of change: “I had this hypothesis that if we cook and share food together, we might solve problems that we have within the food system”.
Tumblr media
Everybody Eats is a prime example of how young people are well positioned to create change. I interviewed Ava, a 25 year old young professional who has been regularly volunteering at Everybody Eats since early 2021. She points out that although the volunteers span a range of ages, those in their 20s make up the biggest demographic. Ava attributes this largely to the rise in conversations about food waste and climate change in recent years. Many young people have grown up as stakeholders in these events, making them more likely to be aware and educated on the issue. Research on the Student Volunteer Army demonstrates that during times of crisis “people want to help”, and when given the opportunity, “they will just throw everything at it”. Thus, as young people are stakeholders in the issue, they may be more attracted to volunteer work that also addresses their own problems: “the best thing you could do for someone is give them an opportunity to help someone else”.
Founder and key stakeholder Loosley has a motto of “feed bellies, not the bin”. His goal is to provide “vulnerable people an opportunity to enjoy a dignified experience without feeling any guilt or stigma”, which is largely how the charity came about.
Diners are also a key stakeholder, with the majority of them unable to contribute a koha. One homeless diner sees Everybody Eats as not only a place for sustenance, but also a safe, warm space for social interaction. Another diner was there due to the rise in rent, leaving little money left over for food. For her, the charity provides her most nutritious meal of the week: “I really appreciate the vegetables these days, because vegetables are so expensive”.
youtube
There has been a dramatic increase in young volunteers and diners since the cost of living crisis. Ava has seen a significant change in the demographic of diners, particularly after the COVID19 restrictions were lifted, which was “quite frightening”. She observed a rise in young people and families as a consequence: “these kinds of services are so necessary now for lots of people just to get basic meals”. This aligns with the Green Party’s People’s Inquiry into Student Wellbeing, which found that in the months following the cost of living crisis, “22% (of students) were unable to afford food weekly or daily, rising to 32% fortnightly”.
From chefs to waiters, volunteers make of most of the organisation. Many of these are regulars who support Loosley’s ideals and concept, sharing a hatred for food waste. One volunteer admired how the charity tackled multiple issues in one, whilst bringing the community together. These volunteers are the backbone of the charity—they are the ones rescuing, making, and serving the food, so that the diners can enjoy it. They are implementing Loosley’s ideals. Ava admits that she volunteers there largely due to “selfish” reasons as it gives her “more of a rounded sense of fulfilment”. She also enjoys the community that Everybody Eats creates, with fellow young volunteers who provide a social environment. Ava mentions that a particularly special aspect of the organisation is how “the volunteers eat with the community that come in”, ensuring that there is no “disconnect between volunteer and recipient”. Volunteerism as a form of civic action “is recognised as an expression of social altruism and connectedness” and is “an important contributor to community psycho-social recovery”. Thus, young people also suffering from food poverty may be able to create a shared sense of belonging with the very community they are serving, making them more effective changemakers.
Tumblr media
At the conclusion of our interview, Ava admitted that she did not see herself as a changemaker:
There are just these amazing, clever people who can save food that would be wasted…that can bring communities together and provide that social connectedness. I see those people as being the changemakers. And then what I can do is just to help these leaders make that happen.
Whilst Everybody Eats does continuously aim to create tangible change, there are a few inherent blind spots in the prefigurative and everyday organisation forms of civic action that mirror much of Ava’s rhetoric. Evidently, an issue with everyday organising is the disconnect that volunteers feel with leaders of their organisation. Like Ava, they may feel somewhat helpless in the wider political sphere, only playing a minute supporting role. Additionally, whilst the charity does manage to live out their ideals, they fail to infiltrate the institution itself—after all, Everybody Eats is just one actor lobbying against food poverty. As it only has two locations NZ-wide, there is still a critical issue of access for those in other regions. Furthermore, young people, who make up most of the organisation, still lack access to key positions of political power. These difficulties, especially in penetrating the institution, are all a direct consequence of structural injustice at work.
Nevertheless, this case study has proven the significance of young people taking on those supporting roles, like volunteering at Everybody Eats. With their ability to see eye-to-eye with the community, passion for the issue, and social-structural position, they are undeniably valuable changemakers for the cost of living crisis.

Bow Your Tallest Tree || Willow's Epilogue
It wasn’t a surprise that shortly after the conclusion of Dare and the airing of it’s second season that Willow was called to a funeral. She knew it would be seen as her fault that her father passed. His heart wasn’t strong enough for the shock of his daughter in a murder game. It was only at the end that someone dared to show him where she had been. He really had thought she was safe in his bunker.
She walked the halls of the guest house she’d grown up in as the rest of the family had decided to hold a wake. Soon would be the will reading. It wasn’t like in movies where they brought everyone together for it. So, she would be finding out what she got alone. And what she got was everything. Tomo really had made sure she got more than she wanted. All she asked for was safety, and she was safe in his arms.
“I know, if I wanted to talk to you, I could have gone to your grave. But a grave isn’t where I knew you. It isn’t where I loved you.” The house was empty, all the signs of them ever having lived there was gone. A small, one bedroom house on her father’s estate. She still remembered it decked out in too expensive furniture and was to nobody’s taste. It was long gone now.
“Belle is going to be very angry with us both, you know. She’d not getting anything in the will. I think I’ll let her buy some of the shares of the company from me. I don’t want them. I suppose I could sink the company out of spite, but people need their jobs.” Also, it made her feel a little too much like Sorano. “I’m going back to Japan tomorrow, to stay with Tomo. He’s my boyfriend. You would have liked him, I think. Then again, I really… Didn’t know you as well as I remembered.”
It’s hard for any child to know their parent. “I’m going to sell this place. The whole estate. I don’t need it. Apparently I can’t legally turn it into a homeless shelter like planned. Something about zoning laws and property values. So, someone else can buy it.”
She sighed and twirled a bit of hair. “I hope you’re proud of me, of the person I became. I’m not a good person, but I’m alive. I’m going to keep living, and growing. Someday, I want to be a real person, someone who had goals and plans and a future. That’s a while away. For now… Well, I hope if there’s any kind of after life, you’re thinking of my fondly there.”
It really was too much money. Willow had ended up turning to Tomo to get help with it. Or, rather Touma, whom was very gifted with these things. It turned out people really liked you when you donate billions to charity. There were lawyers and trusts, and way too many interviews with charities. She only kept around 1% of the total wealth in the end. Everything else was tied up. Dealing with the money, unfortunately had to come first. As it turned out, money gave Willow anxiety.
She wasn’t even all that happy about keeping the 1%.
The next step was therapy. It took a while to find the right therapist, and despite her protests, Willow could not just ask Teai to do it. The AI was still a dear friend to her, so it was probably best Willow didn’t end up relying on her.
She supposed the first sign that everything was going well was sobbing into a WcDonald’s burger at 3am on a Saturday. It was so strange to eat something so warm. And… As long as she was by herself, she could handle it. It started with private chefs, and even things she cooked herself, but eventually, she got her trust up enough to eat fast food.
Another positive was when she stopped hiding whenever Tomo woke up in the morning. Being able to stay asleep was heavenly. And also terrifying. She did follow him around like a duckling sometimes…
The year passed and Willow felt calmer, more at ease. These days, she spent about half her days composing music and the other half in her garden. It was nice to grow something. Even nicer to grow a plant and know you could make warm food from it. She would never be normal, Willow was pretty sure. Her priorities would always be different from that of a normal person. But she had her garden, her music, her woodworking, and her very attractive spotted boyfriend.
…More than boyfriend soon, she was pretty sure. But that was a story of the future, and right now, she had tomatoes to pick. Maybe she’d make Tomo something nice with these today. Despite the fact it was terrible, he always accepted her cooking.
It probably would have been more poetic to use willow wood for her gifts, but Willow was still learning. Sugar pine was good enough for her causes. Her hands were rough, had always been rough, now more for handling wood than cans. She still played her instruments, but had less fervor. As she experimented with new things, she found joy in her gardens and in the wood she worked.
The little lizard she made for Kei, for Emi, was looking way more like a snake than a lizard. Still, she liked to share her work with her friends. She was good with detail, but got a little too daring when it came to sheering parts off. It was a shame that they never quite worked out. But being daring was good.
…Yeah, she was just going to pretend this was always a snake. Snakes are good. At least it wasn’t the peacock she made for Tomo the other day. The peacock was a nightmare…
She placed it on her gift shelf. Living with Tomo gave her a sense of odd safety. It was good here. Maybe she could finally, finally let her guard down.
…Would Rafe mind contact from her? Maybe Jun? She doesn’t want to burden them. Maybe someday…
