Otro día de carreras internacionales en Colombia
Acercándose ya el fin de temporada, este domingo 17 de diciembre hubo dos competencias de fondo en Colombia.
La tradicional prueba internacional Rio Cali, sobre 10 km, tuvo nuevamente como ganadora en el sector femenino a Muriel Coneo, (FOTO) quien triunfó por quinta veez y marcó 36:23. Alejandra Sánchez (36:32) y Luisa Zapata (39:36) fueron sus escoltas. El podio masculino fue copado por los keniatas con Paul Kipkorir (30:31), Joseph Kiproni (30:44) y Dickson Kimeli Cheruiyot (31:08), quedando el ecuatoriano Edison Enríquez en el cuarto puesto con 31:40.
En Cúcuta se disputó la sexta edición del medio maratón de la ciudad y allí el reciente medallista de oro de los Nacionales y atleta olímpico Jeison Suárez se impuso con 1:08:03, seguido por el venezolano Emanuel Hernández con 1:08.49 y Carlos María Patiño con 1:09:02. En damas venció Palmenia Agudelo con 1:19.08 y luego llegaron Lineida Mateus con 1:19:31 y Yajaira Rubio con 1:19:55.

Wilbur Dickson, 92, died March 27th at around 8:00 p.m. due to complications from a stroke and pneumonia.
Wilbur served in the U.S. Army as part of the end occupation forces at the end of World War II. After returning home, he met his wife Marjorie Hutchison at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where both attended for two years before marrying in 1953. She passed away on July 29, 2021.
Wilbur farmed well into his 70s, but also worked for a few years at a chemical plant in Port Edwards and on the maintenance crew at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield for 15 years.
He is survived by his sons Lloyd and Dale (Brenda) Dickson, his three grandchildren Julie Dickson, Monica Dickson, and Angela (Eric) Yuds and his two great grandchildren Gavin and Adelynne Yuds. He is further survived by his brother Forest Dickson and sister Betty Dickson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Glen, Chuck, Muriel VanDan, Harris, Reba McDonald, Clara Herzberg, Helen Lippert, Lila Joneson, June Folz, and Fern Schwanebeck.
Wilbur attended Faith Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids and Pastor Josh Steinmetz will conduct the funeral service at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 am with visitation from 10:00 am until service time. The service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will take place at Mound Cemetery, Pittsville.

Atractiva nómina para el 21k y el maratón de Medellín

El Maratón Medellín 2023 de este 3 de septiembre será la carrera de las cifras récord, para la prueba que llega a su edición 29, ya que competirán 18.600 atletas, se tendrá la Expo Runners más grande y se contará con el lote de atletas élite más numeroso de su historia. En total serán más de 50 atletas profesionales en las distancias de los 42 y los 21 kilómetros.
El grupo lo encabeza Jeison Suárez, del Equipo Élite Asics, campeón del año pasado en la distancia de maratón, en la que su compañero Franklin Téllez terminó segundo, y también estará en la línea de partida.
Jeisson impuso el mejor tiempo de la carrera (2:15:53), desde que se llevó a cabo la distancia de los 42 km por primera vez, en 2012, en la prueba que nació en 1994 y que desde 1996 comenzó a disputarse como media maratón.

En total, para la XXIX edición de la carrera medellinense se inscribieron más de 18.600 atletas, de los cuales 3.500 serán para los 42 km, más de 8.000 para los 21 km, 5.000 para 10 km y 1.500 para 5 km.
Y en cuanto a los atletas élite habrá un lote de más de 20 corredores y más de 30 para los 21 kilómetros, lo que garantiza un gran espectáculo en estas dos distancias, que partirán a las 5:30 de la mañana de este domingo 3 de septiembre.
