Yes the main character of mdzs is *technically* the super powerful necromancer who is brought back to life to solve a decades long conspiracy due to his unique set of experiences that provide important insight on the main morals of the story. But the main character is actually his homophobic 15 yr old nephew

more stories about time travel should capitalize on the fact that adults, particularly new adults, are fucking idiot babies.
I just think people who regress in time to their teens should interact with teachers/mentors/parents/guardians/whoever and be like “wait a second. You’re making all of this up. And you are drinking a truly concerning amount of caffeine. Why tf did I listen to you the first time around???”

They don’t write about video games to assign a number of stars-or whatever it is video game reviewers assign to video games so that you can decide whether to go out and buy them. It is also not a collection of reviews because these writers are not primarily reviewers.
Mos speedrun cover art5 manuals#
This book is not a collection of instructions video games stopped coming with detailed user manuals years ago, embedding their directions within tutorial levels and progressive design. Although that may be all well and good for academics to share their insights with one another, who else wants to read that? We believe that the vast majority of people who watch television or play video games, whether they are students in a course or inquisitive everyday readers, have something to learn about popular culture from us media scholars if only we presented our ideas in a style designed to be more broadly read and understood. Most of these authors are academics, who typically publish their work as 25-plus-page essays in journals or 200-plus-page monographs, often with hundreds of citations, detailed sections on methodology, and commentary on insider debates within the field. The premise behind both of these books is to assemble essays written by very smart people with very smart things to say about popular culture, such as television and video games.
Mos speedrun cover art5 how to#
Instead, How to Play Video Games features 40 essays, each focusing on a particular video game and modeling a critical approach to understanding video games as popular culture. Look elsewhere for walkthroughs, cheats, and speedruns. That is, our book didn’t teach people how to watch television (who needs a book for that?), and these essays do not teach you how to play video games. The title of that book was the same kind of joke. We know because the format of this book is modeled on our own book, How to Watch Television. This time Mos has learned some awesome new abilities: Swing on ropes, swim through jelly, push blocks, wall jump, and fight through spider webs to reach the end of a level. Wall-jump to victory through 30 mysterious, action packed levels! If you’ve found yourself enjoying the many other platforming games in the App Store, and you’re intrigued by the speed run aspect and the retro style of this title, then don’t hesitate to give Mos Speedrun a try.Mos is back, in her biggest and most exciting adventure ever! Plus, despite not having a huge number of levels, the ones that are there will put up a good fight and are a joy to play through. The levels are interesting, the controls are spot on, and the game uses adorable pixel art graphics and an awesome chiptune soundtrack. Mos Speedrun is definitely another solid entry in the iOS platforming genre. Some players in our forums really seem to enjoy the ghost aspect though, so your mileage may vary with this particular feature. They can be turned off, but I’d like to see options for seeing just the ghost for your current best run or maybe even a single previous attempt rather than all of them at once. There’s also the ability to unlock special levels by visiting certain links through the Safari browser on your device, but I haven’t had a chance to try out this feature yet.Īnother point about Mos Speedrun is that while the ghost aspect is a neat idea, I didn’t really feel like it added anything to the game and in fact found them to be distracting most of the time. Still, I can’t help but wish for more levels, and the developer has confirmed that more are on the way in future updates. The second half of the game ramps up quite a bit in difficulty though, and while you’ll likely be able to at least complete each level doing so within the required time limit will be a real challenge. The first half of the game won’t take long to breeze through, including earning every goal for each level. The only other negative I can think of for Mos Speedrun is that there just isn’t enough of it. My one small criticism is that I feel the area around the jump button could be enlarged, as I occasionally will fat-thumb it and miss the button altogether, but it’s not really a huge issue. This scheme works great, and approaches the tightness and responsiveness of the current King of platformer virtual controls League of Evil. My much preferred control scheme is a simple virtual button setup, with left and right arrows for movement and a single button for jumping. Personally, though, I just could not wrap my head around it. I can see the value of this particular control scheme, as with some practice it would likely offer you quicker reaction times than standard virtual controls. The default scheme is a quirky setup where you touch anywhere on the left side of the screen to move left, anywhere on the right side of the screen to move right, and touch them both together to jump. Thankfully, the controls in Mos Speedrun are great. It’s actually nice to have such an uncomplicated take on platforming, but it wouldn’t mean anything if the controls didn’t work. There’s even extensive underwater portions, which harken back to classic Sonic the Hedgehog levels where you must keep an eye on your oxygen meter and search out bubble areas to breathe from. There’s only movement and jumping to worry about, and in this way Mos Speedrun is platforming distilled to its purest form. You can’t kill enemies, and a single touch to an enemy or hazard will kill your little guy and end your current run. There’s environmental hazards like laval pits and spikes as well as various enemy types which must be avoided. The levels in Mos Speedrun are well designed, with all the usual trappings of a typical platform game. Once you have a good feel for a level, you can easily go back on a different try and attempt the speed run with a better idea of what to expect. You can leisurely explore a level collecting coins and looking for the hidden skull, but this also gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with its layout. The different goals are a great design decision, and give reason to play each level multiple times. There’s simply completing the level, completing the level within the specified time goal, collecting every coin in the level, and searching out and collecting a hidden skull. Mos Speedrun contains 20 levels, each with 4 distinct goals to attain. Today Mos Speedrun is finally available, and it’s every bit as much fun as we’d hoped it would be. Mos Speedrun looked unique with its emphasis on completing levels as quickly as possible, and for its use of the ghosts from previous failed attempts running along with you in the background. Last month we checked out the video for Mos Speedrun, a new platformer from developer Physmos.

Special levels can also be activated by placing special URLs in your iDevices Safari browser, however the one level I was able to find via a QR code on the developer site did not seem to load as intended.Īs with all challenging platformers your mileage will vary depending on how far you wish to go to conquer the levels and their additional objectives.

Additional small touches like adding a faux-scanline effect and using TV snow as a visual transition help to set the mood. These days it's almost expected that skill based platformers have a retro-esque theme and Mos Speedrun is happy to oblige with its pixel-art world and up-tempo chiptune soundtrack. In order to progress and unlock additional stages, players will need to collect trophies associated with four basic achievements - completing a level collecting all the coins on a level finding the 'hidden' skull and beating the speedrun time. At first this may not seem like the optimal setup and indeed players may want to opt for the more traditional two-way virtual d-pad and jump button setup to navigate the many various enemies and environmental hazards in your way, but attempting to reach the preset time-goals requires players to learn efficient, non-stop paths that are emphasized by the default controls. Mos Speedrun by Physmo turns speedy play in to a core component of its retro-slathered skill based platforming and while you don't have to beat the top times to win, taking on the challenge will require patience and reflexes honed to a sharp point to succeed.īy default players are given a touch interface setup that moves Mos, your colorful bug, based on the side of the screen you tap, while jumps are performed by tapping on the opposite side while moving. Thank you to all our fans for your support, ratings and great reviews. The idea of finishing a level as fast as possible in a platformer can be fairly common, with some games even going so far as to reward players for their speed, be it through bonus points, achievements or maybe that elusive third golden star. RECORD your best speedruns and upload them for the world to see!įIND the secret ghosts to unlock new costumes! I do like the headcanon that it was Shen Yuan's teaching and tips that inadvertently helped Luo Binghe get through the Endless Abyss faster. Accidentally fucking himself over in a way because he cares for Luo Binghe too much is just sooooo him.
I do think there are other elements that may have helped Luo Binghe through the Endless Abyss faster. When I was making that post on a way that the heavenly demon seals might work, based on the implications in the quotes I was taking down, I formed the headcanon that the Black Moon Rhinoceros-Python in PIDW may have only partially broken the seal on Luo Binghe's demon side, potentially denying him full access to his powers and causing him pain and damage, until he could reach the Xin Mo sword and use its dimension-slicing powers to remove the last remnants of the seal. Whereas in SVSSS, Mobei-Jun, with his own special Endless-Abyss-summoning abilities, apparently ripped the seals off of Luo Binghe immediately and potentially more cleanly.
(Arguably, a sudden removal could be an even worse shock, causing a clash between spiritual systems, and causing even more pain and damage until the Xin Mo sword could be used to soothe the effects. You can come up with fun consequences either way, PIDW or SVSSS, to get the angsty headcanons that you want to explore!)
Anyway, I was thinking about the idea that... maybe SVSSS Luo Binghe making it through the Endless Abyss faster doesn't necessarily mean he's more powerful...?
Like, if we're imagining that Shen Yuan's teachings allowed SVSSS Luo Binghe to perform something like a speedrun to the Xin Mo sword (which is extremely funny to contemplate), then through sheer experience (a couple more years to cultivate/develop in the hellscape grinding level), it's not unreasonable to imagine that PIDW Luo Binghe exiting the Endless Abyss may have been significantly more powerful or at least significantly more dangerous than SVSSS Luo Binghe exiting the Endless Abyss.
(Although, even if both Binghes were the same power level, based on personality differences and goals, then Mobei-Jun's first encounter with SVSSS Binghe would be extremely different to his first encounter with PIDW Binghe regardless.)
I am currently enjoying the idea of SVSSS Luo Binghe almost immediately encountering Mobei-Jun upon exiting the Endless Abyss, having a rematch of their battle at the Immortal Alliance Conference, and then Luo Binghe losing that fight.
OP power levels are so arbitrary. I don't think it's unreasonable that even pre-ascension Mobei-Jun could (after getting pretty beat up himself, maybe) kick a young, undeveloped heavenly demon's ass. Just because Binghe has the Xin Mo sword doesn't necessarily mean that he knows how to use it. Mobei-Jun is at least 20 years older than Binghe, with potentially a great deal more training and battle experience in the Demon Realm, and depending on how you imagine his abyss and ice powers, he's potentially capable of some extremely dangerous and dirty tricks to preserve his own life.
So, like, let's say that Mobei-Jun manages to pull ahead in this fight, disarms Luo Binghe, and then throws the Xin Mo sword through a portal back into the Endless Abyss because he has no interest in keeping such a cursed thing for himself. He could just kill the seething half-demon on the ground in front of him with three broken limbs, before the heavenly demon heals up and tries to kill him again, but Shang Qinghua (who has been here THE WHOLE TIME) (who has been having a VERY BAD TIME trying desperately to stay out of the line of fire) (who didn't want to be in the Demon Realm in the first place when he's still trying to keep his cover, but he needed something for the Sun-Moon Dew Mushroom and Mobei-Jun to help him get it) Shang Qinghua says that Mobei-Jun can't just kill this boy for some reason. Holy shit, do not kill him! DO NOT! (It might break the fucking world, shit, what the fuck, what is happening...!)
And listening to Shang Qinghua has saved Mobei-Jun's skin on a number of occasions, so that's it! Apparently, he can't just kill this boy. Admittedly, he is mildly impressed by the boy's tenacity, but, like, the boy is obviously suffering poor effects from the sword's curse, may or may not be possessed by the Elder Dream Demon, and desperately wants to kill him. He's a fixer-upper, for sure.
So, like... now what?

It's August 21, which means: Happy Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day! If you are a writer of fanfic, please know just how appreciated you are!! Fandom would be such a different space without your creativity and labors of love. 💜
In celebration of this most glorious holiday, @renegadepublishing ran an event where we bind copies of fics to gift to their authors, and I had the joy of binding The Tranquility of Water for @noppoh! It's a truly fantastic post-canon story and I love the exploration into the effects of the main story on its characters after the fact. (This is a story I love so much that I wrote up a page and a half crash course on The Untamed so I can try to force my sibling into reading it as well. Take that as you will)
The walls of the Hanshi creep in on him and so Lan Xichen leaves. He leaves Cloud Recesses and his seclusion, stealing away in the night with no-one the wiser that he even left. His feet bring him to Lotus Pier where a surprisingly kind Jiang Cheng seems determined to help him heal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With a title like "Tranquility of Water" and the story largely taking place at Lotus Pier, I may have been a little heavy handed with the lotus imagery throughout the book, but it felt very fitting! The lotus on the cover was a last minute addition, but one that turned out so lovely. Just, you know, to tie everything together lotus-wise. (Another one of my favorite design details in the typeset is that both title fonts from the chapter headers and title page get repeated within the text of the story as the main characters handwriting fonts!)
I started the physical binding process of my copy while at the Renegade Retreat in April (and decided the week before that I wanted to change my body font... can you say formatting speedrun?) and up until that point I hadn't actually figured out what the cover and endpages were going to look like. Special thanks to everyone who contributed pieces to this binding (and who moral-supported me along the way -- my copy holds so many fun memories now) because it LITERALLY would not look like this without you all. I really love the way the color transitions worked out, with a predominantly blue/green case, fading into green, into pink, into the title page, and then transitioning back out at the end of the book.
And these endbands!! Friends, that is SILK embroidery floss that a friend brought to the retreat especially so I could experience the decadence of silk endbands. I will never be the same. (They're so smooth... so shiny... so slippery to work with, but SO WORTH IT)
(Binding details under the cut)
The pieces that went into this bind:
Fandom: The Untamed/Mo Dao Zu Shi
Pairing: Jiang Cheng | Jiang Wanyin / Lan Huan | Lan Xichen
Bookcloth: Renegade Retreat Swap Table Special (I have no idea what it is, but it was just enough to make a copy for myself and the author and the color worked PERFECTLY!)
Cover paper: Opal Momi paper
Cover paper: Opal Momi paper
Endpapers: from the Craft Consortium Ink Drops - Dusk paper pack
Titling: foil quill
Endbands: leather cording core, silk embroidery floss for the bands
Body font: EB Garamond
Title fonts: Wintersoul and Bastian
Handwriting fonts: Bastian (Lan Xichen), Richardson Script (Lan Wangji), and Wintersoul (Jiang Cheng)
Tumblr insists on eating and doubling text in this section at its own whim, so if there's something missing that you're curious about, feel free to DM me an ask!

I agree that the movies mess up a lot of the story, but I always chalked that up to them not having enough time to include everything, and having to sort of "speedrun" the route, and I know this is probably an empty exercise, but given how much time they had, how would you include all those left out bits into the movies? because there's so much they just couldn't put in, especially illya and kirei's stuff, that the third movie feels incredibly hollow, but I just don't know how they could put in everything. I don't get why they decided to cram the longest route in the vn into a movie trilogy
three movies wasn't the ideal format for adapting heaven's feel, but it's shocking how much filler (and I'm using this to refer to actual empty content which doesn't progress the story or anyone's character) was added to reach feature length
free up maybe 15-20 minutes per movie by trimming dead air from the fight scenes that weren't in the vn. they can even keep them! just take about five or ten minutes of random back-and-forth from each one
scenes like the slow-mo walk to sakura are bewildering. literally just fade to black before shirou starts walking and then fade in as he hugs her. that's all that scene needed, and it's a perfect microcosm of the over-animation problem that the movies have
illya's conversation with shirou where she lets on that she knows someone has to die at the end of the story needs to be reinserted. otherwise illya has basically nothing to go off of and just kind of leaves the narrative emptily in the finale
somewhat controversially, I think Nine Bullet Revolver could be cut down to about a quarter of its length and still have the same impact. make it sudden and violent and intense. explain things less.
the school flashbacks in the intro are fine, but if it's between them and getting more content in the first movie so that we can hacve die lorelei later on, you know which one I'm voting to keep
if we have time for both, insert the conversation between illya and sakura about what it means to be a grail and keep illya overhearing taiga talking about kiritsugu's overseas voyages. that's a fine way to adapt the scene where illya looks for kiritsugu in the emiya household without relying too heavily on someone knowing the full context
changing none of the pacing, just have rider and rin in-frame during the final walk to the flower viewing. it's such a disservice to every character in that scene to tighten the scope like that. it feels so cold, utterly devoid of the cathartic warmth that scene is supposed to have
move kotomine's recollection of claudia's death forward. start it when assassin hits him with zabaniya, then reveal the missing heart as the story ends (in contrast to how it happens now, where the story ends right before assassin uses zabaniya)
get rid of the random ninja jumping shirou does in the angra mainyu finale. just have him walk towards her. it's startling how much the movies would be improved by just letting shirou walk normally towards sakura more often
and lastly, to correct for the fact that so much of everyone's characterisation in the vn comes from shirou's monologue being able to describe subtler body language, move the camera to rin once or twice. have a few scenes that are framed from her perspective which make it clear that shirou's acting weird to the outside observer. he comes off as too much of gigachad otherwise

Dean’s grief on speedrun

How long was Cas dead, anyway?
I think they reunited around day 18-24 days ish. The scripts give us some clues. (Based on this post)
==Dean is grieving hard==
He’s not in denial, like Sam seems to be -> “Is he really dead?” “You know he is.”
And because Dean now knows Chuck & Amara, he’s not getting stuck in bargaining stage (his usual MO). There is no door of hope to leave ajar after the cosmic consequences are rendered. (Not even the symbolic going-through-the-motions kind that he never intends to open again.)
No, this time, Dean’s in the throes of an incredibly frightening, paralyzing despair (images).
This is partially due to the fact that he saw it coming, and he fought so hard. He resolved to avoid the looming, cosmic consequences, to “not let Cas walk away, not again (script).” Dean made up his mind to act to protect the, “everything he’s ever wanted (script).”
And still, everything went so wrong.
///
The grief, then, is different. It’s a despair born of crushed hopes and dreams. Not to mention, forgiveness and acceptance—as Dean got onboard to help Cas, regardless of his own misgivings, because Cas “had faith in the kid.”
After everyone dies, Dean pleads with God/Chuck. Chuck is the one who brought Cas back before and the only one who seems able to rebuild angels. He doesn’t answer.
Even though Dean had a special connection to Amara, the one who resurrected his burned-up, supposed-to-stay-dead mother, she doesn’t answer either.
This time, he knows they’re out there, perhaps even listening. And they’re not answering because Dean’s run out of free passes and miracles.
This time, that knowledge crushes him where he stands.

DAY 1-2 (Lost and Found)
Tumblr media
13x01 starts in the twilight hours after the big Lucifer fight.
Dean takes a shot at Jack, and Jack flees.
Heaven and Hell hunt them relentlessly.
They retrieve Jack from North Cove police station.
An angel stabs Jack in the chest with an angel blade, and he seems astonished to be “fine.”
Sam and Dean take time to grieve and scatter ashes.
The funeral occurs that evening, and they quickly get on the road.

DAY 3 ish (The Rising Son)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In 13x02, they're still driving home from the funeral towards the bunker, "12 hours till we get home," and Sam convinces Dean to stop at a motel.
Addition: When they eat, Jack remarks that he's 3 days old. "3 days, 17 hours, and 42 minutes."
Over the course of this episode, per the script, 2 days pass.
They eat dinner, go to a tattoo parlor, meet up with Donatello, and stay overnight in the motel.
Heaven and Hell continue to hunt them relentlessly.
Sam, Dean, and Donatello debate nature vs nurture, with Dean and Donatello leaning towards nature.
Sam psycho-analyzes Dean and delivers euphemisms to Jack about Dean “wanting to protect everyone and getting his wires crossed,” but ultimately, he isn’t forthcoming to Jack about the reality of the situation. (That is, it was Lucifer that killed Cas, and Lucifer who pulled Mary into another world--that Dean's grieving!) These important details might've helped Jack to understand his situation with a lot more clarity and grace. This will cause Jack to cool towards Sam when Dean reveals the truth during an argument.
Demons find them the next morning.
In fact, Dean nearly dies against a common demon, getting cornered on a hotel bed, but he is saved at the last minute by Sam’s interference.
Jack, tricked by Asmodeus, nearly releases the Shadim.
They drive home.
Later, Jack freaks out about being impervious to stabbing. In his new bunker room, he laments, “What the hell am I? I can’t control… whatever this is. I will hurt someone.”
Dean tells him he will be Jack's executioner if Jack loses control.
At most, it's been only 5 days since everyone died.
///
DAY 5 ish (Patience)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13x03 picks up mere hours after they get home, and it covers 5 days total. So, that brings us to a decently solid total of 10-ish days when this episode finishes.
Dean can't bear to be in the bunker with mission-mode Sam and Jack, so he takes off on a hunt.
Clearly in no shape to hunt, Dean dies at the hands of a wraith (and so does Jody). They are both saved by Patience’s interference.
Dean tells Patience there’s no joy in this life. Only pain and death.
Sam and Dean have a huge fight about Jack, during which Dean accidentally gives Jack context to the situation (re: Cas’s death, Mary’s plight). This causes Jack, already exhausted by Sam’s well-meaning training regimen, to cool towards Sam the next morning.
Cas appears to awaken in The Empty on day 9 or 10.

DAY 10-11 ish (The Big Empty)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13x04 SEEMS like the very next morning, because Dean AND Jack are both still chilly towards Sam. The air is described as arctic, with Dean giving Sam a, "don't even try it, motherfucker," face. Jack accuses Sam of wanting to use him as an interdimensional can opener and "being just like Asmodeus," and Sam comes clean about the truth.
Sam pushes them all to go on a case together. Jack says he doesn’t want to go at first. Sam wants Jack to go with them for the express purpose of forcing Dean to be around him and warm up to him, which isn’t fair to Dean or Jack…not really.
This storyline covers the family therapy scene (great analysis), wherein an interesting attempt at therapy is made under dishonest constraints.
Dean, still clearly in no shape to hunt, is easily overtaken by the shifter and nearly dies. He is saved by Jack’s interference.
According to the script, 13x04 occurs over 4 days. Commentary//
That means that Dean thawed to Jack, after our total of a mere 14 days. By the end of this episode, they're on shaky terms, and by the beginning of 13x06, calling out to each other in a friendly manner, "How was the case?"
Jack "puts a dent in Dean's armor," per the script, even before he saves them with his powers. Dean is doing everything he can not to like Jack, and it’s clear from the script that he’s failing.
At the end of the episode, Dean tells Sam to absorb the weight of the hunting burden, because he’s got no hope left.
Cas appears to awaken in a field on day 14. Presumably, his ashes are in the middle of nowhere, and he starts walking.

DAY 14-20 ish? (Advanced Thanatology)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here’s where it gets foggier.
I can't tell exactly when 13x05 picks up with respect to the previous episode, but it seems like only a little bit of time has passed.
I would say a week at most has passed, but possibly as little as a day or two, and the case itself, per the script, covers another 4 days.
However, if Cas awoke in The Empty on day 10, and woke in the field around day 14, I think I favor a shorter timeline here with some of the “days” being overlapping back story from the case itself.
Anyway, Jack has been making his way through Sam's DVDs, "Red Sonja, Beast Master, Beast Master II." Commentary//
Sam does not intuit why Dean is up late at night/early twilight hours, making a PB & J (analysis).
Sam tries to remedy Dean’s overwhelming grief by pushing breakfast beer and strip clubs toward him. Alcohol to numb the pain + sexy stuff as a distraction. Now more than ever, Dean seems to perform those only for Sam’s benefit. (It seems Sam did not pay attention to Mia Vallens's therapy, except as a means to validate his own motives for trying to save Mary. Ouch! Poor Sam!)
Sam is not great with empathy here, bless my neuroatypical man-child. He’s dealing with a loss of his own, of course, and he’s been shown to be an impatient, mission-motivated griever (analysis).
Anyway, he’s completely at sea with Dean’s powerful grief, and he seems tragically unaware of Dean's close calls/being off his game over the course of the last few hunts.
Sam, perhaps understandably, wants Dean to be there for him n’ Jack, as caretaker and comrade, but Dean is too mentally wounded to bear the weight of that expectation. (Btw, I don’t think Sam really “gets” the Cas thing till 15x09 The Trap: Sam’s future is symbolized by Eileen-as-hope (analysis) and Sam realizes Dean’s future is built around Cas-as-foundation.) Dean dies...again//
Dean attempts suicide.
He tells Billie he doesn’t matter.
After he revives, Dean tells Sam, “No. Sam, I’m not okay. I’m pretty far from okay… And I would take the hit… And now Mom and Cas… And I – I don’t know. I don’t know.”
This is an elegant parallel to season 7’s grieving Dean, about his not being able to “shake” what happened with Cas, and admitting, “he doesn’t know why.” (Cas is different. Cas has always been different.) In season 7, he also says, “I’ll do what I can,” in response to Sam telling him to get his head in the game and stay alive. Cas is a core wound in both scenarios.
///
==Death & resurrection==
So, that would bring our guesstimate to Cas reuniting with the boys around 20-24 days. So, at most a little over 3 weeks but possibly closer to 4, especially if the backstory timelines of actual “case days” overlap, like 13x05 potentially does.
I am reasonably certain Cas awakened in the field near day 14. I’d personally put the actual reunion at 18-20 ish days, and certainly not longer than a month. They reunite in early June, I think. Blackberries are a summer fruit, and there are wild blackberries in the field where Cas awakens.
Dean drives to Cas and meets up with him, "in the middle of nowhere," so it seems Cas's grave and subsequent walk to civilization was in quite a remote area.
///
Going back through this, I was pretty astounded how Dean kept dying or nearly dying in those days following Cas’s death. He was definitely in no state to be hunting.
