every application for welfare is an act of self flagellation & humiliation, the case workers are literally like 'get up on a table and weep and cry and tell us your birth sex (not your legal sex btw we want to know what you got called at birth) and whether you are a citizen born here or born abroad (because this matters somehow and if you were born abroad you totally don't form a second class in our minds btw) and tell us exactly how much cash you have in your wallet and why you failed at life so hard that you had to call us and if you don't sound aggrieved enough we will think youre trying to grift us' and then you do it to multiple different people and if you're lucky they give you $700 a month to live on
