This is absolutely me being a pretentious Texan but I have significant doubts about the quality of barbecue outside the South. The farther north the less likely I am to believe it will be good.
Do I know geography has absolutely no bearing on quality of food? Yes. But I’ve rejected almost all Texan characteristics such as enjoying gravy and sweet tea and believing in the superiority of Whataburger so if I didn’t have at least a little stupid pride lingering I’d have to give my Texan card back and that’s kinda a hassle.
This thought brought to you by Keith of the try guys trying barbecue in LA

hearing my papa speak in spanish on the phone like I don’t know why but this just warms my heart and feels like home <3
#i think it’s because my abuela speaks spanish so much more often#and is very invested in keeping the culture alive in a way papa just isn’t#so hearing him talk to friends in spanish while on the phone next to me is like..... :) ❤️#like we are still latine. this is who we are this is our family#even if preserving the culture and passing it down has always mattered to my abuela most in the family as a whole#culturally my papa doesn’t really carry on anything traditional in his lifestyle#like my abuela has the decor and the food and the celebrations and games and everything at her house#and he doesn’t have that at his#even like. I always call him my grandpa on here even though he’s my papa and yet why won’t i call him that on here where it’s not all#people with latine families you know? that censorship that disconnect. even as I’ll call my abuela my abuela because again like. she just#is you know? but it’s almost like it’s too personal it cuts too deep#and in general with his family they just don’t put as much emphasis on preserving and upholding that culture#which I guess - my bisabuelos came from texas from the el paso border and moved here and had to assimilate#and leaned into it harder than my bisabuelos on my abuela’s side - who’s mother barely could speak english and who took chilles with him#to work everyday to bite into at lunch and cry with the other mexican men which freaked out the white men#so there’s always been that implicit sense of connection and pride with my abuela and her side more so than my papa’s#though my tia’s family is mexican too (married to my dad’s brother) so it’s really been kept in the family (aside from my tia - dads sister#- marrying a white guy and moving to arkansas and pretending to be white by dying her hair blonde and getting a Karen cut and - deadass#blue contacts ://#but anyways. something about language. something about family#it’s just. nice to hear him on the phone with friends who were born in mexico and lived there and who are here now but who’s hearts lie#there#and to speak to them in spanish. like. we are still here#our family had to leave home and cross the border and assimilate into this country to survive while trying to keep their home in their#hearts#and down generations kids like me have been born here and that’s all we know#but distantly that sense of home is in our hearts. in the eyes of our abuelos - passed down#like. we are still here. we are latine#anyways aaaaaaa too earnest for tumblr no more sappy posts about identity and disconnect and family and culture and history and being#mexican american back to silly little posts about like baby jack picking up a frog

If there's anything that makes me appreciate mexican culture, it's definitely gotta be acoustic guitars and trumpets.
It makes me feel so rowdy and upbeat. Thank god payday 2 hit me with that feeling with Silk Road.

Mexican Border Tiles for Kitchen
Mexican Border Tiles for Kitchen
We understand that an average homeowner does not know the difference between floor tile and trim tiles. However, tiling projects are one of the easiest ones and probably the most satisfying as they will enliven and refresh any space that seems flat or monotonous. Mexican, ceramic tiles can have numerous applications from the most evident to cover walls and floors to much more surprising and…

Biden to blame for the US-Mexico border mess.
Biden to blame for the US-Mexico border mess.
Joe Biden doesn’t care. He’s planning on taking your 2nd amendment away from you. President Obrador is right; the buck stops at Joe Biden. See how fast he is moving to the border? Poor Joe, he won’t go; he might fall upstairs again. Start busing them into DC and see how fast things change. Hell, they already have cages up!   Thank you, Anon

yeah i do agree though the rogue state is a self substantiaing myth with roots in colonial thinking like how shingles only reproduces under specific conditions and interpretting society as a lovecrafitan leviathan shingles aparatus is cringey but also kind of something

The Irish Surge
To all my Irish American family and friends: These immigrant vessels were called “coffin ships” because so many Irish died on the voyage to America As you’re getting ready to paint shamrocks on your faces and get really hammered in a display of cultural pride, I’d like you to mull something over as you’re downing that Guinness. You are going to hear a bunch of noise from conservatives this week…
