Sailor Mercury Crystal Power

Just randomely decided to do this and now I'm currently doing all the Sailor Guardians crystals.  Hubby critiqued my work and asked of I would change the golden symbol of the harp item to stars.  I quite like this minor change and I'll be doing it for the other guardians as well.

Since my youth, I've always loved Usagi/Serena, but for the last few years, I've identified more with Ami as I've always loved my books, though I'm not as intelligent as her and I have some of the same traits as well such as her shyness or lack of social cues.

I'm really happy how this turned out.

★ “love of my life…don’t hurt me.”

- or, hobie confesses to you with music.

“c’mere. i wanna show you something.” murmured hobie’s deep voice from beside you. you pulled back from the stove where you were both flipping pancakes, preparing for a sleep-over at his flat.

you went easily, following him to his room. it was…surprisingly organized today. hobie was a clean person, but his space had a tendency to reflect the deepest most integral parts of his punk-rock persona. anarchy. rebellion. non-conformity.

you sat on his bed as he pulled a record from his collection, placing it onto the player and turning up the volume.

“this reminded me of you.” he said as he laid down beside you on the bed, looking firmly at the ceiling. you pulled your knees up to your chest and listened, curious.

you expected metal, some guitar riff to burst out of the speaker and drums to beat against your ears.

so when the soft playing of a piano and harp rose into the air occupanied by the lulling voice of freddy mercury, you were more than surprised.

‘love of my life…you’ve hurt me.’

you breathed, listening to the lyrics with new ears. because hobie was your friend, your best friend. closer than most to you. your ride or die.

“this is a love song, hobes.” you whispered.

his thigh brushed against your ankle.

“ya…it is.”

oh.

‘when i grow older, i’ll be there at your side…to remind you how i still love you…’

the guitar rose as you turned to look at hobie, who was already watching you.

“i know, it’s real fuckin cheesy, but i figured that if i was gonna tell you, i might at least make it uncovention-“

he didn’t get to finish as you pressed your mouth to his, soft and tentative as you leaned down to him.

the soft sound that came from the back of his throat made you clench your hand in the front of his shirt. his hands found your waist, pulling you down on top of him and then to the side, so that you lay facing each other.

at some point the record moved on to ‘good company’, but you were far too busy focusing on the way hobie moved your leg to rest over his hip so he could pull you even closer.

“you know…” you murmured when you both finally pulled apart for air. “showing someone a song as a confession isn’t exactly unconventional.”

he rolled his eyes, nudging your chin up to press kisses to your throat, slow and soft, relishing you like you would disappear in an instant.

“i know… that song does make me think about you, though. i wasn’t lyin.”

you traced his back as he buried his face in the junction between your neck and shoulder.

you slipped your hand under his shirt, and he shivered. you knew his…work. it was dangerous, and the thought of you getting injured worried him. but you didn’t mind the danger, not when you had him beside you.

“i’m not going anywhere, hobie. especially not now.” you said as you pulled him back up to kiss him again.

he hummed against your mouth, shifting once more so that he hovered over you. wrapping his arms around your waist, he pulled you up against his body, deepening the kiss when you parted your lips for him.

✦ chiron in aquarius/chiron aquarius with harsh aspects to uranus: you may be bad with technology. might not use electronic devices much or might not know how to really use them. if you do use electronic devices it’s a struggle to use, hard to figure out, or frequent technical issues. probably don’t care for social media much either.

you may be a quiet person. probably sleep good. can be over indulgent in the pleasures of life because there can be wealth and abundance. but be careful, you may think you have more than you actually do. a spiritually grounded individual. signs of having talent that’s hidden/unrecognized by themselves and/or others. or if others do see these gifts/talents in you, you don’t or you deny it.

in the 5th house: a natural leader. he is probably talented in someway. you may also inherit these musical/artistic/creative gifts. could have a playful/fun relationship. may play games, music, or sports together, watching tv/movies together, sharing your hobbies with one another. someone you look up to, an inspiration. he brings a lot of joy and happiness to your life but you're also his pride and joy. just an overall indicator of him having a positive influence in your life.

✦ speaking of sun in the 4th house, it sounds like a good placement for a positive relationship with your mom but check your moon sign too. for example, having a sun in the 4th house but a scorpio/capricorn moon can indicate relationship issues with your mom because moon is in fall in scorpio & moon is in detriment in capricorn so both signs and the moon are weakened and uncomfortable here. moon in the 12th/8th is another example. but again, check your synastry with her too.

✦ moon square/opposite chiron: difficulty expressing/validating your feelings. it can  be hard to comfort yourself emotionally because heavy emotions make you feel uncomfortable or you don't know how to deal with them. on the flip side, you are quick to validate the feelings of others and feel bad for them. still you are empathetic, maybe too much. it can be overwhelming taking on people’s emotions and burdens for yourself. more willing/easier to comfort others instead of yourself and to heal their emotional pain, but if you show yourself that same love, maybe a little extra, you can heal yourself too.

So I got bored last night while jamming to some classic music and it led to this...

The sons of Feanor assigned Planets from the Holst suite...

Maedhros - Jupiter

The music just sounds as gallant and noble as the first born of Feanor is. The king of planets' music for the High King of the Noldor. And the slower stately part of the piece (what gets extracted for the song I Vow to Thee My Country) feels very appropriate for a soundtrack to the peace he and Fingon foster together.

Maglor - Neptune

It's not just the water association that both Maglor and Neptune have at work here. The whole piece has a beautiful forlornness to it that is also an easy summarization of Maglor's tragic life. Plus all the strings near the beginning make me think of him playing his harp by the sea

Celegorm - Saturn

The music is subtle like the workings of Celegorm's mind. A slow methodical creeping melody tinged with hints of the sinister. An unexpected blare of horns for the great hunter and his hound approach and then back to the lower tones as he stalks his prey

Caranthir - Mars

It's in the name "bringer of war" I feel there's no need to really explain why this aggressive piece of music inspired by the planet named for Mars the god of War is the perfect piece for contentious Caranthir

Curufin - Venus

He is the image of his father's wisdom and skill with words. He is well spoken and where his nearest older brothers are always stirring up strife he supports with a more subtle touch. The gentler rippling melody suits the dutiful brother who follows the lead and offers love and support to his kin and is even fair enough to let Eöl go in spite of his loathing of him. He's the chill one of the middle three which isn't saying a whole lot when it comes to Feanorians I know

Amrod - Uranus

The one who in one version was set fire to by accident by Feanor in the burning of the ships at Losgar this more disjointed musical piece fits the various views that exist for Amrod's narrative. There's a dramatic beginning to the piece just as there is to Amrod's life being named "fated" by his mother. But the melody gets more merry and you can almost see Amrod and his twin brother riding far and wide enjoying a hunt in their lands around Estolad

Amras - Mercury

Youngest and therefore to my mind the most playful the jubilant whirling melody of Mercury fits best to the baby of the family. There's not much on the twins but I like to imagine that perhaps rather than always riding sometimes Amras runs during the hunts with his brother and is very fleet-footed and really into enjoying nature for a Noldor. I mean after all he was the twin okay with sleeping on the ground while Amrod went back onto the ships to sleep(in the one version). Just my headcanon for him about being a little nature boy because I refuse to fall into "twins are exactly the same" thinking. Anyone who's known twins in real life knows that's not true and I've known lots of twins. My dad is even a twin.

10 (Mostly) Spoiler-Free Reasons to Watch Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon 2003 Live Action

A countdown to the 20th anniversary of Act 1 air date!

Reason 10: The three live-action original Senshi!

Technically introducing these 3 Senshi would count as a spoiler, but not introducing them would mean I'm not doing justice in convincing people to give the live-action a try! SO I'M GOING FOR IT.

Still, anything I share here would be introductory, and I won't go into the story surrounding these characters at all. And as I mentioned basically this whole time in this series of posts, the storytelling is where it counts when it comes to the live-action!

Without further ado, I'm starting off with the most iconic original Senshi of them all:

Sailor Dark Mercury - more well-known as Darkury

Yes! We get a villain version of a Senshi! ABSOLUTELY GLORIOUS!

Ami-chan in the live-action is basically the most even-tempered person out there. So imagine the sweetest, MOST kindhearted girl going absolutely apeshit, then you are probably not too far off imagining Darkury's behaviour. And imagine the smartest person you know working against you... now that's one adversary you'd want to avoid!

The unique story surrounding Darkury holds a special place for many fans of the live-action. It's proof of the live-action's amazing writing and unapologetic differences to its original source material, and marks a joy only audience of live-action get to enjoy in the whole Sailor Moon franchise!

Princess Sailor Moon

Princess Sailor Moon is the only alternate/upgraded Senshi form the audience gets to see in the live-action series, since the show only covers one arc so there are no new forms of transformation for the Senshi. Not only she has a harp, but she also has a SWORD instead of a magic wand! HOW COOL IS THAT??!!!!! Senshi with swords/actual weapons and looking fierce is like my favourite thing!!!

She is undoubtedly powerful, and this costume of this form is stunning! I personally really love the pastel pink matched with the midnight blue!

To new viewers of the live-action, don't let the official promo picture of a smiling Princess Sailor Moon or your pre-existing knowledge of the overall franchise fool you into a sense of security of knowing what’s coming though. She is so much more than what meets the eye, and her first appearance in the show is absolutely EPIC!!!!

Sailor Luna

Yes, that is cat ears and a cat tail... Yes, this is Luna.

Luna eventually gets a human form AND a Senshi form in the live-action. It's arguable how powerful she actually is, but she certainly has her moments of cleverness, sneakiness, and... comedy.

My best guess is, that the live-action screenwriting made this version of Luna by pulling in elements from ChibiUsa's early Senshi days - where ChibiUsa often overestimates her strength, and her inexperience puts her in awkward and unhelpful positions for the rest of the Senshi. Even the actress originally thought she was cast as ChibiUsa during the audition process.

In this case though, because Luna fills the role of a trainer and adviser to the Senshi team, so as a Senshi, we see her choice of action feel less amateur in terms of battle instinct and strategy, but her actual strength is certainly secondary to being a true Senshi. The imbalance often causes some unexpected and hilarious results in battle, and no one really knows what to expect and how to react - to be impressed or to laugh!

AxZ Week Day 5: Poetry

In Silver Millennium, Serenity hands her a slip of parchment, claiming she found it tucked into the hollow of a tree where she had met with her beloved Endymion (she suspects that she was simply playing matchmaker).

The words compare her to a pool of water on a hot day, keeping refreshing, serene, and reflective in pleasing rhyme and meter.

Though it’s short, it’s words stir something in the princess of Mercury and she wishes to know who made such lovely phrases on the tiny blue planet that Serenity is so fond of.

Soon, Serenity brings her more messages that flatter her about her mind and her ambitions, mentioning her beauty to punctuate the writer’s fascination with her.

She never finds out who it is, though. The Silver Millennium falls soon after.

He’s in the library, looking for inspiration for a new energy gathering scheme for their great ruler. His last plan had backfired spectacularly (Video rental stores were not an antiquated idea; it was novel and retro!) and he was going to find something full proof. Beryl was getting impatient.

He pulled a book from the shelf and opened it. A piece of loose-leaf paper, folded into eighths fell from between.

Curious, he picked it up and unfolded it.

I wish to share my words, read the lines of text, to let others know my dreams.

The words stir something in Zoisite and, against his better judgement, pulls out a pen and scrawls a reply, trying to match the number of syllables and give it some kind of rhyme scheme.

Your words have found me now, and filled my heart to the seams.

It’s a simple poem, nothing he’d want to show anyone, but at least he got it out of his system. Putting the paper in between the pages of the book, Zoisite puts the book back and heads for the music section. He’d always been interested in that, so maybe something would inspire him.

Just as he turned the corner, a girl with short dark hair and blue eyes turned the corner and took the book he had just replaced.

The two of them stand awkwardly a week after their second (really third) meeting. They could sit down in one of Crown Arcade’s many booths, especially since it was a slow day, but that would mean sitting across from one another or, God forbid, beside one another.

She’s still not sure trusting him is a logical decision.

He’s still not sure if she even wants to talk to him.

The tension is thick and cloying, a sensation like wearing an old frayed sweater by a campfire.

“So… um… you like to read?”

It’s a dumb question. Between the three books she’s carrying and the reading glasses in her pocket, anyone could see that.

“Yes,” she answers simply. There’s no malice in her voice, but no feeling either. It’s a simple fact.

He retreats to his room when he returns home, trying to write his heart out on a yellow legal pad and trying to take his mind off how Mizuno could even tolerate him ever again.

It’s all chicken scratch though. Even simple fluff poems about flowers being pretty seem to be hard for him to write.

A call from his prince draws him out of his stupor and into battle against a leftover creature.

It’s a bulky, bulbous monster called a Daimon that was apparently made by science.

“Are we winning?” Nephrite calls after his sneak attack completely fails.

“Do you want the truth or one of those little white lies to make you feel better?”

Jadeite’s frustration is understandable, if the improvised bandage on his leg is anything to go on. Mars’s fire seems to have no effect on the creature, Tuxedo Kamen and Sailor Moon are pinned by the Daimon’s onslaught with Nephrite and the other senshi are still trying to make their way across town.

“Mercury Aqua Rhapsody!”

Glittering streams of water streak at the creature, enveloping it in ice and suddenly, Zoisite’s mind fills with descriptions for the attack and for the trickling otherworldly harp strings that accompany it.

Even when Sailor Moon purifies the creature in a dazzling display, Zoisite’s attention is still on the Senshi of Water.

The muse has struck him hard and maybe he can work up the nerve to thank her.

She recognizes his words when he submits to her, on a sheet of green paper, a poem about Hermes.

He recognizes her’s when he sees her handwriting in her little blue notebook.

Soon, little notes are passed between them. Verses plucked out of the ether to make little compliments.

Soon, they’re talking at length of wordsmiths and writers; who they like, who has the best descriptions, which would fit with music, which writer sounds like they would have voted for Shinzo Abe. Soon, it grows more intimate. Love poems, shared between the two of them, games that become heated the more passionate the poetry.

And the two of them begin to wonder when their games will be played to a work of their own composition.

the eldest trueborn daughter of the former lord stark and his lady wife, lynara's birth was a joyful occasion. she was named after the woman from whom the current stark line descends, something that was not thoughtless — her parents envisioned a great future for her from birth.

for all of their well-wishes, lynara was rather soft. she took to songs and music, sewing and dancing, and to talk of unpleasant things, real things, often led her to tears. a thing of the south, it was said, not with a good ring to it.

neverthless, unlike her sisters, she was joyful to take to the "feminine arts" and matters of the household, becoming a notorious harp-player, having a songbird's voice, making the most beautiful embroidery in winterfell and insisting on being her mother's mini-me, content on parentifying her siblings as if prepparing for her own hord of children.

above all, she was tender-hearted. from the age of three, whatever wounded animal she found would be hastily brought home, teary eyes begging the maester to remedy its pain — something that would not stop as she grew. she had a tendency for strays, for welcoming even those she should not and make them her own. it was that the fate of her gathering of ladies — a lannister and an arryn, a most unlikely pair to reside on the walls of winterfell — and, when the rebellion was finished, of the ironborn boy brought as the king's hostage.

calon greyjoy was not to be a prisioner in the harsh sense of the word, but in every other. it was a sort of rebellion of her own, one she would struggle with, as her heart began to stir for him. it could never be, yet, within winterfell, they were. it was easy to forget letters to her betrothed when her heart was so full and her attention so otherwise captured.

the illness that spread across the north was unforgiving, and her father's death, as was her goodsister and nephew's, was a huge blow to her. for all of their differences, she had been a most beloved child, who was ever eager to please and his loss is still greatly felt. she has only stopped wearing mourning clothes during the voyage south, and it still feels somewhat disrespectful.

none of the north are particularly happy about her engagement to the prince, despite the friendship between the king and the former lord stark — neither is lynara, at odds about being ripped from everything and everyone she knows, anxious about all the change and, most of all, for a marriage to a prince she knows so little of, whom she can not love.

but she knows better and smiles bright and talks sweetly and tries to be positive. she has always upheld the expectations at home, even when she felt alone and sticking out from the steely winter roses, but it's all different in the south. she feels as if there's another sort expectation she may not live up to, that she may be woefully unprepared for and that she will, again, stick out in the worst of ways.

( update as of december '23 ) still, she is her father's daughter. an oath taken can not be broken, even at one's own peril, so she walks down that aisle and fulfills a dead man's promise as she knows she must, even at everyone else's warning not to. she can only hope the gods shall be more merciful to her than they've been to the other starks bound to the south.

I don't know what is with me, but I have almost no ability to focus on new content being released. And it's been that way for a while. I was able to watch all the episodes of the Scott Pilgrim anime, but that's the exception.

I feel guilty when I keep seeing posts about shows that "no one watched" which either got cancelled or didn't get the buzz they deserve. I didn't even watch the 4th season of Infinity Train, nor did I ever really watch Witch From Mercury aside from the first two episodes.

It's... I'm realizing that it feels like when I was in school and they'd assign us books to read. Throughout middle and high school I could never focus on the books they assigned us for summer vacation. They'd hang over me for those three months and my mom would harp on me about it, but I couldn't do it. Trying to read The Hobbit was utterly exhausting, and nothing in it kept my attention.

Aside from how overwhelming it feels with how much content is out there, now with new shows there's this... this sense of obligation. If you don't watch it, it's your fault it got cancelled.

I have an easier time getting into older shows because the pressure's not there. There's no rush.

Or maybe this IS all just undiagnosed autism or ADD or ADHD.

I would love to go to the guys who adapted the right stuff to film and be like hey. Why didn’t you include the part at the beginning where Pete Conrad sees a guy get his head exploded. And why did you do Gus Grissom so dirty. Hey. Hey. Why did you do that to the one guy who wasn’t alive to defend himself. Wally Schirra proved that Gus couldn’t have knowingly blown the hatch without injuring himself so why did you perpetuate the rumor in your film. Sorry I’m never gonna shut up about this cause it was like so unnecessary for them to do in the movie and the surviving Mercury astronauts were pretty unhappy about it after the movie came out because it was continuing to harp on a subject that plagued their friend’s entire career before he perished in a tragic fire like. Why would you do that.
