things that happened in the nhl today (that i am aware of) (monday, november 27)

1. corey perry doing the dirty with the child's mom rumors

2. tyson barrie called roman josi hot

3. the w*ld fired their head coach and assistant coach

4. the battle of the tkachuk's game had a total of 167 penalty minutes which surpassed the most combined penalty minutes in a game last season that had 166, which also a sens v panthers game

5. zack macewen of the sens got a match penalty for elbowing matthew in the head (he attacked him let's be real. matty's back was turned) and then the broadcasters showed matthew and brady yelling at each other

6. it was released that pat*ick k*ne wants to go to the dallas stars as his main choice, literally nobody wants this

7. stars beat reporter made an article of the stars's nicknames and the reasonings and it was beautiful and eye opening

8. the devils visited a hospital and some cute content came out of that

9. rangers and the bruins, aka the top two teams in the league currently, both lost to teams that are... not in the top ten and many non-fans of those teams were shocked

10. it was announced that the nhl 2024 all star game will be picked via draft. celebrities and captains will be the ones selecting players

We all know that Matthew set up the pool scene as a reference to the hanging of Judas (Matthew 27:3-10), inspired by Hannibal's own lecture from the novel and Antipasto.

Then Matthew complicates things by duct taping Hannibal's arms to a broken broom pole, making him look like Jesus. Judas is never depicted in the crucifixion pose (he's normally hanging from a tree branch), so the show is obviously implying that Hannibal is playing a sacrificial/savior role in this episode (at least in the eyes of Jack and Alana).

But then Matthew keeps spreading his arms out in mockery. I don't know why I never put this together before, but he's totally supposed to be the impenitent thief!

Jesus was crucified along with two bandits. The one on his right was penitent and asked for Jesus to remember him in heaven. The one on his left mocked Jesus with the rest of the crowd, saying that if he was really the son of God, he should be able to save himself. Matthew is standing on Hannibal's left in both of those shots, and there's an empty spot to Hannibal's right where the penitent thief would stand if he was present. How fun!

The IZ comics have 15 extremely cool artists and here's a slight guide on how to identify them :3

Aaron Alexovich

- typically more dynamic and what i would describe as a “scratchy” artstyle

Issues: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 16, "Gir's Big Day", "Holiday Special", "The Dookie Loop Horror"

KC Green

- very silly and colorful style, creator of the “this is fine” comic/meme

Issues: 6, "Bitters and the Witch", 31

Dave Crosland

- more detailed style, similar to Alexovich but a bit cleaner

Issues: 7, 8, 9, 10, 21, "Invasion!"

Sarah Andersen

- another very silly style, though simpler than KC’s, creator of the “Sarah Scribbles” webcomics

Issue: 11

Warren Wucinich

- main artist and letter-er, typically stays fairly true to the original style though is a bit more round and curvier

- i don’t know how to explain it but squishy, similar to the original style but instead of being mostly flat/sharp lines it’s more curvy (dib being the best example)

Band of Brothers Ages: IRL vs. Actors

Did you know that according to a 1947 study, almost half the men who served in WWII were still under age 26 by the end of the war?

What this is : A (very long) post comparing the ages of the actors in Band of Brothers vs. the IRL figures they are portraying.

Background: Did I need to do this? No. Did anyone ask for this? Also no. Did I do it anyway? Yes.

Disclaimers: This is SUPER approximate for the most part. I based IRL ages off of D-Day unless otherwise noted, and actor ages off of January 1, 2000, the year filming took place (the latter is where the most variation will be because I didn't try to figure out what month filming started). I also didn't fact-check birthdays beyond googling. Most are sourced from the Band of Brothers and Military Wikis on fandom.com, Wikipedia, and IMDb.

I broke them up into rough categories, which are, again, approximate. I know I often forget how young the real life people were here, and this was a good reminder of that. I also found it interesting to see which actors were actually younger than their roles!
