Supportive Bruce

Okay, so we all know that Bruce isn't the warmest or fuzziest guy around, but I would like a Maribat where Marinette is like his adopted daughter or something (I will leave it up to you to decide), but he is absolutely protective of her and will do anything to protect from anything (aliens, bad guys, or broken hearts (you name it, he has a contingency plan to protect her from it)). But, anyway, Marinette is bringing her boyfriend/significant other to the Manor to meet Bruce. I don't know who the boyfriend is. It could be Kon, Roy, or someone else, but I imagine that he has a reputation as a bad boy/heartbreaker/player. Anyway, Bruce is wary of him because he doesn't want Marinette's heart to be broken. In order to do this, he 'tests' the boyfriend at dinner without Marinette knowing. At the end of dinner, Marinette excuses herself to help Alfred out because she thinks he overworks himself and needs a break. While she is doing that, Bruce looks at the boy and says something along the lines of, "If you hurt her, your remains will be so obliterated that Superman himself won't be able to identify them." He then goes on to explain, in detail, how he would achieve this morbid plan. The boy in question is pale and shaky, but he does not waver in his determination to be the best he can for Marinette and prove his worth to Bruce. Marinette comes back in and seeing her boyfriend, asks what happened. Bruce says he aproves of the boy, and they have his permission to get married. Marinette turns bright red as she hadn't thought of marriage yet. Bruce turns to the boy and reminds him that he still has to get approval from the batkids (and I think it would be funny if some of the JL considers Marinette too 'pure' for this world and also would do anything to protect her). The boy turns pale, but Marinette laughs it off, thinking it is a joke. I think this could end in a sort of epilogue of them getting married, and Bruce sharing this story of them.

I really hope this gets written. If people can recommend some fics similar, I would be very thankful.

Hi, my friend is asking why there are so many maribat fics, and especially with DamiMari.

Maybe you know about the history of these crossovers in Batman Fandom?

Hi!

(Fellow Maribat fans, feel free to add your own commentary or correct any of my mistakes.)

So @/ozmav created the Damian x Marinette ship in 2018, I think? It was just a fun little crossover that blew up and became really popular. I was not around either of those fandoms at the time, so I'm not sure about all the details.

Daminette was the first Maribat ship created, so it was around the longest, and thus accumulated the most works.

Eventually, the other Bat Boys got their own ship, and now the Maribat (or now, more technically, DCxMLB) fandom has so many more ships and crossovers -not necessarily between the Bat/MLB main characters.

Some rarepair ships (any DCxMLB ship not between one of the four main Bat Boys and Marinette) include Konette (Conner Kent/Superboy and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Timdrien (Tim Drake/Red Robin and Adrien Agreste/Chat Noir), to name a couple.

The Maribat fandom also crosses over with multiple fandoms, like DPxDCxMLB or MCUxDCxMLB.

Some pure MLB and DC stans definitely dislike Maribatters, especially during the beginning of the fandom, when the tags for both fandoms were cluttered with DCxMLB content. Now that it's grown so much and has its own tags, I think the hate has calmed down somewhat. (Although, I prefer to keep out of fandom drama, so I may simply have missed the hateful discourse ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)

Overall, the Maribat fandom has really grown from a crack ship to its own large, well-populated community. There are tags on Ao3 and many discord servers, which runs events such as "Jasonette July" and "Maribat? Get In! [a server] Civil War".

On a personal note:

As to my thoughts on the ships themselves, my favorites are Daminette (Damian Wayne/Robin and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug) and Jasonette (Jason Todd/Red Hood and Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Ladybug). It's always fascinating to rotate a character or ship in your head like a rotisserie chicken, considering their Canon and Fanon traits and then exploring them in whatever medium you choose (my medium of choice is writing fanfiction).

For Daminette, the ship you specifically asked about, I am drawn to it because I find the differences between the couple adorable. I personally have a fondness for the Grumpy x Sunshine trope, a Tsundere male lead, and relationship/character growth. (Of course, sometimes it's nice just to read a cute 500 word drabble with no plot, no specific dynamics, and no development, where the couple is just cute and happy.)

I think that is one of the beauties of Maribat. With so many various ships and characters to choose from, there's something for everyone, and we can all bond over belonging to the same fandom(s). Some of us have joined from the MLB side, some from the DC side, some just got dragged in by a friend and have no knowledge of either fandom, and that's okay! With so much to explore in both fandoms, there is constantly new content* being made with love (and tears. And laughter, both evil and joyful. And hornin-).

I've made some of my best friends through this fandom, and I'm proud to be a part of it.

Waffles and War Stories

Note, this takes place immediately after ch. 12 of “A Guide to Love and Coffee in the City of Crime which can be found here on AO3 or here on Tumblr. You don’t need to read that to understand this chapter. Just know that identities are still secret, but the League now knows about the ‘Paris Situation’.

Marinette walks into the diner, grinning when she spots her cousins, Aunt and Uncle already waiting for her.

“Hey guys!” She says cheerily, not missing the way her Uncle scans over her as if assessing for injuries. Once he seems satisfied that she wasn’t currently hurt, he smiles back at her.

“Hey Sunshine.” He says, his smile unwavering as she slides into the booth. Glancing between each of her family members, she sighs before slumping slightly.

“Who told you?” She asks. Uncle Clark raises an eyebrow.

“Pardon?” He says. She sighs again, straightening.

“Who told you about the Paris situation? Was it Tim? Or maybe Nadja? Oh. I guess maybe Jimmy found out somehow-” She starts to ramble before Conner cuts her off.

“Mars, what are you talking about?” He asks, his confusion clear. Marinette frowns.

“The situation in Paris?” She says, and immediately the boys all stiffen. “So you do know.”

“What gave us away?” Her Uncle asks. She shrugs, then grins.

“Oh, I don’t know, maybe it was the dozens of missed calls from the boys once I could get to my phone again. Or the texts. Or the call from you.” She lists off, putting down a finger for each one. “Or maybe it’s how you looked at me like you expected me to be injured when I walked in.” Her Uncle sighs.

“Are you- mad at us?” He asks. She snorts, then shakes her head.

“Why would I be mad that you found out about Paris? Like, yes, I originally didn’t want you to know because you can be super overprotective, but now? It’s not like you can just suddenly get to Paris. Plus this way, Maman, Papa and I don’t have to hide it anymore. And we can talk about all of the funny akuma stories, though there’s not really many of those anymore.” Marinette rambles. Her family just stares at her for a moment. Completely silent. And then Aunt Lois starts laughing.

“Honestly, I don’t know what I thought your reaction would be, but I should’ve guessed you’d want to look at the bright side. Or the funny side. You are just like your Uncle.” She says fondly, shaking her head. Marinette grins.

“Why, thank you.” She says. Aunt Lois snorts again, before letting out a long sigh.

“Okay kid. We have several years worth of stories to listen to about the whole ‘Hawkmoth’ and ‘akuma’ situation, and we have a ton of breakfast food to eat. Where do you wanna start?”

Clark was doing his best to keep an easy smile on his face while Marinette told stories, smiling and laughing as she relayed her stories to the boys and Lois. Her stories of being a civilian caught in the middle of a magical war that the Justice League had done nothing to stop. And although he was smiling, Clark was screaming internally. He’d never thought to x-ray his niece before for no reason. After all, why would he? Every time she’d fallen down or off of something, he’d x-rayed her, but she hadn’t been clumsy like that since before she was twelve. And now here she was, sixteen years old, with bones that looked like they’d been shattered and re-healed dozens upon dozens of times. Because according to the Parisian heroes, all physical damage was fixed by their powers. So her bones were no longer broken. Her spine no longer snapped, her skull no longer crushed, her neck- physically she was fine. But how was she mentally? How much of the horrors did his poor niece remember? He’d seen a video of a particularly bad akuma. Syren, they’d called her. Paris had been flooded beyond recognition, with only around four hundred survivors left on the rooftops. Did she remember it? Was she one of the lucky ones? Or did she drown, slowly losing the ability to breathe before taking in that last gasp- the water that would fill her lungs and ease her out of her suffering as she numbed to everything. It made him sick to think about, and that wasn’t even adding in his older brother to the equation. He couldn’t think about him, or his sister in law. The sheer number of terrors they’d seen and lived through- and he’d been against Marinette moving to Gotham? Well, he still was, but at least he understood where she was coming from a little better now.

“Right? Oh, and then there was my first date.” She’s saying, and Clark tunes back in, quirking an eyebrow.

“Your first date?” He asks. Marinette nods, grinning sheepishly.

“It may or may not have been with an akumatized individual.” She says. Clark blinks at her.

“I- am at a loss for words.” He finally says. She snorts, shrugging.

“Yeah, that’s fair. We were already friends before that whole situation, and we’re still friends now so it’s not like it mattered that much.” Marinette says flippantly.

“So you dated a villain?” Conner asks, obviously trying to figure out what she was saying. Marinette’s expression darkens slightly, and she shakes her head.

“No. Akumatized people are almost never villains. They don’t, for the most part, choose to be akumatized. They’re victims, normal people whose bad day is taken advantage of.” She says, and her shoulders slump as she folds in on herself. “There are some akumas that I won’t talk about. I just- I can’t. They were…scary. And heart breaking. Just know, Hawkmoth started out targeting negative emotions that were surface level. Like being embarrassed from having a crush outed, or being sent to the principal’s office despite doing nothing wrong. But he’s evolved. Now, our akumas are much darker. A grieving mother, an abused child, someone who is ready for everything to just end.” Marinette pauses, swiping furiously at her tears before letting out a soft breath. “None of them are villains. The only villain is Hawkmoth.”

“Oh, Mars.” Conner says softly, immediately moving towards her to wrap her in a hug. Marinette immediately buries her face in his chest, crying softly as Conner holds her close. Clark’s heart breaks at the sight, and in that moment he makes a promise. Hawkmoth was going down. And soon.

Requests are open right now, but if you send one in please keep in mind that I might not get to it for a while because I’m currently in school and I’m a slow writer. Please keep in mind that I only do “x reader” fics right now, and please read through the characters and fandoms I’m comfortable writing for before sending in a request. Lex stole the DNA during a Gala and BOOM a little Marinette was created.

Well...actually her name is Martha Antoinette...but she prefers Marinette.

She gets a Supersuit, which she Designs herself obviously, and becomes Lady Miracle.

She'll later get the name 'Mar Kal-El' too and will create a Team with Superboy and Red Robin.

Bio dad Bruce fic

The miraculous team are ask to join the JL after the whole hawkmoth thing. They do, but with a few conditions.

1. They have a list of people who at some point have worked with them or know of the miraculous that are never to be questioned by JL members or any other authorities. (For their safety and the safety of the world and all that jazz)

2. They need a secure location to set up a library for the 'Guardian' (the JL are allowed into the library but the Miraculous team has full control of it- whose allowed in- who works there- etc)

The JL agrees to these conditions.

Non of the miraculous teams IDs are known, so they just make it so their civilian IDs have access to the library and are on the list- which makes sense to the JL members cause or course the people on the list work for the Miraculous team in the library- which also doubles as a magic research and storage area for the team.

Slowly- as each team member needs access to the library- the team 'allows' their civilian IDs access to the library (which includes DNA recognition)

Only a handful of members 'work at the library- most of the time they just transform and walk in since the library protection magic will recognize them and won't set off any alarms.

Here's were the Bio dad Bruce comes in-

Mari starts work in the library as a civilian- so she does the whole ID process to gain access (DNA recognition). An alarm on the bat computer goes off- (it's set to recognize the DNA of posible bio relatives of all the batfam member) the screen displaying in bold red font-

Bonus point- the ship is Marinette x Conner Kent (who is astrange from the rest of the Kent cause of a fight or because he felt like he didn't belong)
