Finishing up June

June is almost over, but I still have two books to read before the month ends.

So far in June, I have read:

Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado

I highly recommend this book. It is a collection of short stories full of surrealist images and feminist undertones. In addition, the book has both bi and lesbian representation. 

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Queer, There, and Everywhere by Sarah Prager

This is a really good book for starting to learn about LGBTQ history. Multiple biographies in the books made me a bit emotional. It's also a really accessible read. 

The books I am going to read before June ends are:

The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros

I read some of the vignettes for my creative writing class and loved what portions I did read! I decided to get the whole book and read it. I would recommend this book already because what I have read was so good. 

Taking the Arrow Out of the Heart by Alice Walker

I went to the National Women’s Studies Association conference this past November and had the privilege of seeing Alice Walker speak. She was such an inspiring and calming presence that I decided to read her latest book of poetry. I cannot wait to dive into it.
